Resumen
Abstract This paper analyses the relationship between the German Kiel Institute of World Economics and the Rockefeller Foundation in the years 1925-1950. It focuses on the role of politics in the promotion of science and shows the great difficulties the foundation had in developing a strategy to react to the Nazi’s seizure of power in 1933. The Kiel Institute disguised itself as an unpolitical and “objective” institute and managed to regain support after 1934. During the Second World War, the Rockefeller Foundation abandoned the idea of science as an area detached from politics by definition. In the late 1940s, it carefully reassessed the German academic landscape and, in the case of the Kiel Institute, came to the conclusion not to resume a significant amount of support.

The Kakuma Refugee Camp (including the nearby Kalobeyei Camp) in the Turkana Desert of northwestern Kenya is home to approximately 200,000 refugees from 21 countries. The camp was established in 1992 to accommodate approximately 40,000 “Lost Boys” who walked there from their villages in Sudan. I have heard many experienced humanitarian aid workers describe Kakuma as the worst place in the world. In Dave Eggers book, What is the What, Lost Boy Achak Deng, after surviving for years as a child wandering across deserts and swamps in Sudan and eventually reaching Kakuma, describes it as “a place in which no one, simply no one but the most desperate, would ever consider spending a day” (Eggers, 2007).

Resumen
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to make a critical analysis of the views put forward by Claudio Gnoli (2018) in this paper concerning philosophical problems in library and information science (LIS). Design/methodology/approach The paper presents the basic ideas in Gnoli (2018) and discusses the set of basic assumptions, concepts and conclusions put forward. Findings It is argued that the idea of the theory of levels is basically sound, but we do not need to consider the material world, the mental world (minds) and the world of mentefacts as three different worlds. They represent different levels with different kinds of emergent properties in the world. Further, although the concepts of artifacts and mentefacts are useful, there are other terms within LIS, such as document, work and object that have been influential and should be discussed in this context. It is also argued that subjective vs objective knowledge is often confused with private vs public knowledge, which is problematic. Finally, it is claimed that the cognitive view and the “sociological view” are not about two different levels of reality but are competing views about the same reality. Originality/value The paper clarifies some aspects of the analytical framework of domain analysis and adds to the developments of the philosophical dimensions of information within LIS.

Anthropological Foundation of Dialogue The dialogue of the society in the post-communist countries seems to be a problem. Both the post-communist countries and in the countries with a long democratic tradition are developing the postmodern individualistic mentality. On the orther hand, the world is becoming a unity, throug economic and productive processes. A man tries to solve his own problems, yet he is not prepared to share his own life and participate in the community. This is the one of the greatest problems of the so-called postmodern society. Present world is full of conflicts, not only in level of Islamic and the Christian world, but we, people of dialogue can solve them.

Resumen
In his The Conduct of Inquiry in International Relations, Patrick Jackson identifies four distinct ways of studying world politics: ‘neopositivism’, ‘critical realism’, ‘analyticism’ and ‘reflexivity’. According to him, they all fall under the broad umbrella of ‘science’ but they each stem from a distinct philosophical foundation. In his view, which foundation one subscribes to is a matter of faith, which leads him to advocate pluralism. He classifies the underlying philosophical foundations in terms of two criteria: ‘mind–world dualism’ versus ‘mind–world monism’ and ‘phenomenalism’ versus ‘transfactualism’. Through a step-by-step analysis of his complex text, I show that what divides (1) neopositivism, (2) analyticism and (3) critical realism and reflexivity (classed together) is not in fact their philosophical foundations but the nature of the questions they ask, each reflecting distinct human interests. Accordingly, while praising Jackson’s philosophical vigilance against the dominance of neopositivism, I conclude by pointing to a need to consider the political underpinnings of different modes of knowledge production.

Resumen
The foundation as the form activation of the of disabled and elderly personsThe purpose of this article is to describe foundations, which are one of the most popular form of social activities next to associations. The author presents the foundation as a good way to the mobilization of disabled and elderly people. In the first part of the article the author presents a brief history of the development of foundations. The next section presents legal grounds of foundation in the Polish law. This ground is the Law of Foundation, dated 1984. Additionally, the article presents a comparison of the two forms of the social activities: foundations and associations. The most important differences are: Foundations — the main component of it are assets donated by the sponsor. Associations — people who create this form of social activity are the main component. Foundations — governing board holds the control over foundations; other organs are optional. Associations — authorities comprise of assembly of association members, governing board and an obligatory internal audit office. Foundation — directs its activities and represents it to the world; cannot direct its activities to the governing board. Associations — activities can be directed to the world but also to the members of the association. The article also presents a definition of economic activity and foundations’ possibilities to take such activities. The author describes his own experience at the foundation created by teachers and graduates from his former school for blind children. The article presents common challenges newly starting foundations have to face, the most important of which is the problem of vague evaluation criteria for applications in competitions organized by public authorities and problems with acquiring source of funds for their activity. In the last part of the article the author presented areas of activities performed by foundations working for disabled and elderly persons. The main scope is, of course, taking care of the elderly and disabled, but also facilitating the access to culture, art and the organization of tourist trips. The above mentioned activities are more and more needed and a lot of organizations are developing these areas.

Resumen
It is obvious that contemporary design and construction of unique buildings and structures is unthinkable without mathematical (numerical) and computer modelling and advanced analysis ofload-bearing structures under various kinds ofloads and impacts. One of the most ambitious and important construction projects is the uniquelarge-span structures. These are, in particular, stadiums, sports palaces and water parks, shopping malls, pedestrian, road and railway bridges of various design solutions. The distinctive paper is devoted to theoretical foundations and results of mathematical (numerical) modeling of the state (in terms of the analysis of stress-strain state, strength and stability) of football stadiums built for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Finite element method is used for approximation and high-precision numerical solution of corresponding boundary problems of structural mechanics. It is the most universal and powerful numerical method of mechanics. The paper, in particular, describes some features of development of finite element models and the main results of the analysis of the mechanical (structural) safety of three- dimensionallarge-span systems "soil foundation - reinforced concrete structures of foundations and stands - steel structures of the coating and facades" of these football stadiums with the basic and specialload combinations. In addition, the key procedures of scientific support during the corresponding expertise and assessments are outlined. Generally, socially significant and knowledge-intensive problem of providing mechanical (constructive) safety of unique combined objects of construction (three-dimensional systems "foundation - reinforced concrete structures of foundations and stands - steel structures of coating and facades") has been solved at a new level as a result of the performed complex of research works.

Resumen
The proofs of God's existence is the subject matter of the article. Four main types of proofs are analyzed: cosmological, teleological, ontological and moral. It is argued that there is a general scheme of theistic reasoning present in all four types of proving. The principal feature of this scheme lies in recognizing a ground of everything existing which goes beyond the material (or natural) world. Possible naturalistic arguments excluding a non-material, super-natural foundation of the world are also analyzed. The objections to naturalistic arguments are formulated, making it possible to assert that the natural world cannot be explained from itself. Nor it can be explained from its physical (or natural) part. At the same time, the material world needs an explanation. To meet this need, the extended direct theistic arguments are formulated in the article. They begin with the fact of there being something and include two aspects of theistic argumentation: one is to establish the existence of immaterial foundation of the natural world; another is to demonstrate that this immaterial foundation may be identified with the world subject – omnipotent, omniscient, all-good, immaterial rational being which mainly corresponds to God of theistic religions. The conclusion is made that the thinkability and rationality of the idea of God is provable. One can argue that the idea of God more rationally explains the world. Moreover, it is evident that theism is rational, naturalism (as the principle of the general explanation of everything) is irrational. But the question remains how rational the world is.

Resumen
Observation and literature confirmed that men are unduly scarce in the count of foundation phase teachers in South Africa and the few that are presented as foundation phase teachers are often criticized and ridiculed with the argument that foundation phase teaching is for women. Therefore, the study sought to understand gendered ideologies in order to address the issue of missing male teachers in the foundation phase, which is currently considered to be feminized. Using Sandra Bem’s Gender Schema Theory, the study explores the perceptions embedded within gender issues and how these influence the appointment of male teachers in the foundation phase in the Amathole Education District of the Eastern Cape Province. A qualitative approach was adopted, and a case study research design was employed where six participants (three males and three females) were purposely sampled and interviewed. Data were analyzed using content analyses where some themes emerged. The study revealed that most males are unwilling to work with younger kids, while the study also confirms their roles as very important in the development of younger kids. The study concludes that male teachers’ positive influence cannot be underestimated; hence the government should devise a way to motivate male teacher educators toward the world of work in the foundation phase.

Resumen
As his lengthy career neared an end, Rockefeller advisor Frederick T. Gates made a bold and unsuccessful proposal to the trustees of the Rockefeller Foundation in 1924, asking them to invest $265 million in the China Medical Board. Founded in 1914, the China Medical Board (CMB) was one of the earliest ventures of the Rockefeller Foundation, the most prominent of the Progressive Era's giant secular philanthropic foundations. The CMB was also the last major philanthropic effort by Gates, the man most responsible for shifting the Rockefellers from denominational charity to international philanthropy. After a decade in existence, the CMB had not come close to realizing the hopes of its founder. Only with this massive, unprecedented infusion of capital, Gates explained, could his dream “spring into existence full panoplied.” This dream was never fully realized because of its astonishingly grandiose scale and complexity: its goal was to make Chinese medical care the finest in the world, and in the process close the chasm that he saw between denominational Christianity and the needs of the modern world. Although the story of the China Medical Board is the story of a failed vision, it also affords a glimpse of the cracks at the base of modern American philanthropy.

More and more modern politicians use the notions of radicalism. The main reason for this is to look modern, attractive and respectful. The term "radicalism" can be described as a political trend, which is a radical change in society that protects and implements radical measures to solve a specific problem. Radicalization is characterized by a determined readiness to impose its own ideas, even by rejecting democracy and taking violent actions as a necessary and justified protest against a particular group of people or against the whole society in which they live. The analysis of some basic political and psychological characteristics of radicalism should give us an answer to one of the main issues of our time: can radicalism be at the center of the new cold war?

Resumen
In the last two decades, there has been a significant increase in infrastructure development on slopes of hilly regions of the world, due to population growth. There are many infrastructures on unsaturated expansive slopes, especially in semi-arid and arid regions. Rainfall infiltration is one of the major factors that contributes to the slope and infrastructure foundations failures on hilly slopes with unsaturated expansive soils. In the current study, a rational approach is proposed considering the combined influence of the foundation-slope behavior based on the principles of unsaturated soil mechanics. This is achieved by a novel numerical modelling approach using the commercial software Geo-studio to investigate the performance of strip foundation located on the top of the unsaturated expansive soil slope subjected to various rainfall infiltration conditions. Hydro-mechanical coupling analysis is conducted to evaluate the rainfall water infiltration influence combined with slope stability analysis using limit equilibrium method. Comparisons are made between both the foundation bearing capacity, slope stability before and after rainfall water infiltration. Different failure mechanisms of the foundation and slope system are presented with and without foundation loading for various rainfall scenarios. Results summarized in this paper are helpful for the geotechnical engineers for understanding the performance of shallow foundations on unsaturated expansive soil slopes considering the influence of rainfall infiltration conditions.

In the past fifteen years, the MESA Bulletin has published numerous reports about research facilities in various Middle East countries, including several on Arab states (Zartman 1970; Williams 1970; Brown, Rollman, and Waterbury 1970; Coury 1971; Raccagni and Simmons 1972; Hudson 1972; Bechtold 1973, Zghal and Karoui 1973; Miller 1973; Hale and Hale 1975; Rassam 1976; Mandaville 1979; Anderson 1980; Reinhart 1980; Clancy-Smith 1984; Crystal 1984). None of these, however, has focused on doing survey research in the region. In part, this seemed to indicate a lack of interest in, and/or feasibility for, carrying out this type of research. In fact, when in 1973 MESA members were asked to share with their colleagues the data from surveys they had carried out, only twenty-one individuals responded, and in only nine cases were there survey data gathered in Arab states (“A Preliminary Listing …” 1974). Since then, the situation has improved somewhat. Thus, Palmer et al. (1982) have compiled an analytical index detailing more than 350 studies using survey research techniques in different Arab countries. Also in 1983, an international conference on the evaluation and application of survey research in the Arab world was held at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Study and Conference Center in Bellagio, Italy. The Ford Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation sponsored the conference, which was attended by twenty-four individuals from the United States and seven Arab countries. A book based on the papers and proceedings of the conference will be published soon, edited by Tessler et al. (forthcoming).

Resumen
AbstractThe construction of a systematic philosophical foundation for logic is a notoriously difficult problem. In Part One I suggest that the problem is in large part methodological, having to do with the common philosophical conception of “providing a foundation”. I offer an alternative to the common methodology which combines a strong foundational requirement (veridical justification) with the use of non-traditional, holistic tools to achieve this result. In Part Two I delineate an outline of a foundation for logic, employing the new methodology. The outline is based on an investigation of why logic requires a veridical justification, i.e., a justification which involves the world and not just the mind, and what features or aspect of the world logic is grounded in. Logic, the investigation suggests, is grounded in the formal aspect of reality, and the outline proposes an account of this aspect, the way it both constrains and enables logic (gives rise to logical truths and consequences), logic's role in our overall system of knowledge, the relation between logic and mathematics, the normativity of logic, the characteristic traits of logic, and error and revision in logic.

Resumen
The paper presents a language of thought (a set of cognitive units and relations) used to provide non-verbal definitions for the following five concepts: ARMCHAIR, MUG, RAVINE, LAKE, TREE. These definitions make it possible to describe concepts on two levels of specificity. On the first level, a concept is presented as a holistic cognitive unit. On the second, more specific, level, the same concept is viewed as a partitive system, i.e. a hierarchical system of its parts, the latter being smaller concepts into which the original holistic unit is decomposed. A hypothesis is advanced that such structure is inherent to all visible objects. The partitive system is argued to play a major role in human cognition. It, first, provides for an in-depth understanding of the perceived objects through understanding the role of their parts, and, second, underlies the formation of the hierarchy of concepts with respect to their generality. Besides, it can be considered as one of the defining properties of the human species as it accounts for the human ability to purposefully change the world.

Resumen
One of the distinguishing characteristics of ‘postmodernism’ in philosophy and the humanities generally is the de-emphasis on fixed meanings and precise structures of measurement, and the emphasis on discourses, which dynamically shape and are shaped by the perceptions, concepts, and participants making them up. In this paper, we posit that post-modern management science will benefit from two separate related foundations. First, we argue that soft computing as a foundation for a computational theory of perception is one sign that the postmodern viewpoint has begun to contribute to the advancement of the management sciences. Second, the growing knowledge management emphasis on continuously creating, discovering, reshaping and deploying corporate knowledge by converting its tacit knowledge to explicit knowledge and vice-versa lays the other foundation for post-modern management science. This new philosophy of management science, we speculate, will have critical influence on the research and practice of management science in real world problem solving.

It will be presented the German Bertelsmann-Foundation which belongs to one of the world-wide biggest media companies. The enterprise-foundation exerts an important influence on several social reform movements in Germany. Doing this, the Bertelsmann-Foundation succeeds in integrating associations, parties and personalities representing nearly the entire range of society. This raises the question, weather the foundation is a political neutral institution as it claims to be. By having a critical look at the foundation-project „intellectual orientation“ the social character of production of ideas by the Bertelsmann-Foundation will be demonstrated. It can be shown, the role of the Bertelsmann-Foundation is that of a mediator, transforming different interests into a new kind of social corporatism.

Resumen
Hadrontherapy was born in 1938, when neutron beams were used in cancer therapy, but it has become an accepted therapeutical modality only in the last five years. Fast neutrons are still in use, even if their limitations are now apparent. Charged hadron beams are more favorable, since the largest specific energy deposition occurs at the end of their range in matter. The most used hadrons are at present protons and carbon ions. Both allow a dose deposition which conforms to the tumour target. Radiobiological experiments and the results of the first clinical trials indicate that carbon ions have, on top of this macroscopic property, a different way of interacting with cells at the microscopic level. There are thus solid hopes to use carbon beams of about 4500 MeV to control tumours which are radioresistant both to X-rays and protons. After discussing these macroscopic and microscopic properties of hadrontherapy, the hospital-based facilities, running or under construction, are reviewed. The conclusion is that, while in USA and Japan twelve of these centres will be running around the year 2001, in Europe very little is foreseen to use hadrontherapy to treat deep-seated tumours. The most advanced programme is the Italian one, which is described in the last Sections of the report. The main activities concern the construction, near Milano, of a centre for protons and carbon ions called CNAO (National Centre for Oncological Hadrontherapy) and the development of new type of proton accelerators. The Istituto Superiore di Sanità in Rome obtained the initial financing for constructing, in collaboration with ENEA, a 3 GHz linac, which eventually will accelerate protons to 200 MeV, so as to allow deep protontherapy. These, and other hadrontherapy centres in Italy and Europe, will be connected with oncology centres, hospitals and clinics by a multimedial network called RITA, so that before referral each patient's case can be discussed directly by doctors, even located far away, with the experts sitting in the hadrontherapy centres.

Resumen
The frequency of super high-rise buildings has gradually increased in larger cities. Compared with ordinary buildings, super high-rise buildings involve more difficult technologies of construction. Soft soil foundation is one of the unfavorable foundation types for engineering construction because of its high sensitivity and low bearing capacity. Therefore, the combination of super high-rise buildings and soft soil foundations will greatly increase the insecurity of the project. Although related methods of soft soil treatments have been proposed and optimized in recent years, there is still a lack of targeted construction methods combing for super high-rise buildings, which is of vital significance to improve the safety and efficiency of future construction projects. Based on the case analysis of Jinmao Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center and Shanghai Tower in the Lujiazui zone, this paper summarizes the optimization of key technologies of super high-rise buildings under the background of soft soil foundation. The author hopes to provide a clear reference for future projects by systematically sorting out the construction projects in this typical area.

Abstract Climate change affects all regions of the world, particularly poor countries. It results in numerous environmental, social and economic effects, which are expected to intensify in the coming decades. What does this mean for foundations serving a specific purpose? Discussing the activities of SOS Children’s Villages (SOS), the author shows how the investments of the foundation Hermann-Gmeiner-Stiftung in SOS cannot only be limited to the organization’s core duty of caring for vulnerable children and families due to the interrelatedness between caring for children and working to combat the effects of climate change. She thereby shows that the interests of foundations and non-profit-organizations should not be one-dimensional when it comes to supporting causes.

Resumen
This year, the Christian world celebrates the 1700th anniversary of the edict of Milan by Emperor Constantine the Great (272-337), proclaiming the freedom of the Christian faith and laying the foundations for a unified European civilization, united by a common religious world outlook. By its direct influence on the development of "European humanity," the edict of Milan can not be compared to any historical event, either before or after. In ancient Europe there was not a single world outlook, and therefore there could not be an event that marks the beginning of antiquity precisely as a world outlook. At the first glance, modernist Europe possessed a general secular world outlook, but it was, in one way or another, associated with the former Christian foundation and had no axial event, extending its generations for several centuries of new peace treaties and revolutions. In Christian Europe, such an event is exactly the Milan Edict of 313, whose name is forgotten the last of all the events associated with the Christianization of the Roman Empire.

Resumen
In many regions of the world, groundwater is the main water source for multiple uses, including for drinking, irrigation, and industry. Groundwater quality, therefore, is closely related to human health, and the consumption of contaminated groundwater can induce various waterborne diseases. In the last ten years, the world has witnessed a rapid development in groundwater quality research and the assessment of associated health risks. This editorial introduced the foundation of the current Special Issue, Groundwater Quality and Public Health, briefly reviewed recent research advances in groundwater quality and public health research, summarized the main contribution of each published paper, and proposed future research directions that researchers should take into account to achieve the one health goal. It is suggested that groundwater quality protection should be further emphasized to achieve the one health goal and the UN’s SDGs. Modern technologies should be continuously developed to remediate and control groundwater pollution, which is a major constrain in the development of a sustainable society.

e21011 Background: Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer related deaths worldwide and India. The understanding of the molecular basis of lung cancer has led to increased number of FDA approved targeted therapies and therefore survival. Data on the molecular landscape of lung cancers has a preponderance of western and east Asia. India while may harbour one third of world new lung cancer case, the understanding of comprehensive molecular landscape of lung cancer in India is poor. Methods: We have retrospectively compared comprehensive genomic profiling of lung cancer patients across three centres over a period of two years using foundation one cdx. We aim to compare this to available data from rest of the world and present the differences and commonalities. We believe this will help understand both differences in presentations and pattern of disease as well as question if treatment algorithms should be same or different. At least on this occasion we will limit our study to foundation one CDx patients only so that comparison with western data is not confounded by differences in technology. Results: We have Highlighted 44 such patients and will be comparing their data to the available data on foundation on CDX from available literature. 27 (61.3%) patients had one of the most common targetable mutations including EGFR ALK ROS MET BRAF ERBB2 and NTRK. Surprisingly 9(20.4%) had mutations in the homologus repair pathway. 3 patients also had MSI High. We will present comparison of this Indian data to that's available across the world. Conclusions: Precision Oncology and molecular biology is cornerstone of cancer care especially in Lung Cancer. We want to deepen the understanding of the comparison of Indian cohort and believe its different with arguably more targetable abnormalities detected than in the west and similar to the eastern population of the world.

Resumen
Abstract Environmental writers have sought to retrieve ecological wisdom from traditional Chinese thought to critique anthropocentrism, but the rediscoveries remain a disembodied discourse and ignore the relationships among humans: the political, social, and economic structures and power relations rooted in repressive hierarchy and class and gender oppression. This chapter targets political, social, and productive relations as the crucial areas for diagnosing the ills of ecological degradation. Rather than a question of how humanity as a whole stands against nature, the chapter contends that the all-too-human power relations in economy, hierarchy, and oppression are the real culprits for environmental disasters. Humanity's domination of nature is necessarily linked to the domination of other humans and of inner human nature. This perspective illuminates Kang Youwei's ecological visions in his writings about the great world community. Kang regarded nature as the foundation for culture and civilization, valorized the public principles of common goods and equality over private property, and linked women to a vital, regenerative nature. Kang heralded the eco-socialist notions of public economy, fair distribution of wealth, and wise uses of natural resources.

Resumen
Many supply chains have pledged to prevent the violation of workers’ rights as part of social sustainability in their far-flung supply chains. This paper provides a way to understand why supply chains fail to overcome the violation of workers’ rights by mapping the UN SDGs onto the social foundations of the doughnut model, with respect to workers’ rights in supply chains. We develop the sustainable supply chain doughnut model with regards to the SDGs, through which we investigate workers’ rights violations. Examples from both UK-based and world-wide supply chains illustrates our conceptual model. Supply chains have shortfalls in all aspects of the social foundation when it comes to workers as one of their main stakeholders. Until supply chains are successful in overcoming shortfalls across all elements of the social foundation, moving to the next layer of the doughnut framework is impossible, which is the safe and just space for all humans, including workers. This ‘safe and just space’ seems out of reach despite international efforts such as the SDGs. The resulting conceptual model can be the foundation for descriptive, instrumental, and normative research on workers’ rights in the supply chain as part of the social sustainability.

Resumen
There exists a large body of Artificial Intelligence (AI) research on generating plans, i.e. linear or non-linear sequences of actions, to transform an initial world state to some desired goal state. However, much of the planning research to date has been complicated, ill-understood, and unclear. Only a few of the developers of these planners have provided a thorough description of their research products, and those descriptions that exist are usually unrealistically favorable since the range of applications for which the systems are tested is limited to those for which they were developed. As a result, it is difficult to evaluate these planners and to choose the best planner for a different domain. To make a planner applicable to different planning problems, it should be domain independent. However, one needs to know the circumstances under which a general planner works so that one can determine its suitability for a specific domain. This paper presents criteria for evaluating AI planners; these criteria fall into three categories: (1) performance issues, (2) representational issues, and (3) communication issues. This paper also assesses four non-linear AI planners (NOAH, NONLIN, SIPE and TWEAK) based on a study of the published literature and on communication (via electronic mail, meetings and correspondence) with their developers.

Resumen
In the contemporary philosophy and more specifically in philosophy of language, one of the essential issues of philosophical studies is the relationship between language, the World and knowledge about the world. Bertrand Russell as one of the leaders in logical analysis in contemporary philosophy considers logical foundation as significant pillar for language. He defines language, meaning knowledge in the context of logic and he forms the world in the logical facts. From here, a link between language and reality will be created, and thus there is an intention to break the other traditions. Bertrand Russell tried to write many books and essays and his literary heritage has become an important asset in philosophical discourses. This study aims under the Russell’s arguments to analyze the relationship between language and the world. It attempts from a different perspective to reach a different form of existence and world. This purpose helps in language activities in manifesting correct knowledge about the world that it has facts, events, state of affairs, reality and logic. Russell's attempts to connect between language and reality in the world produced many valuable arguments and thesis. This is on the foundation of logical analysis changes language to propositions and changes the world to facts instead of things. In addition, arranges all theories about meaning, descriptions, proper names and knowledge through the atomic propositions. Furthermore, he based his understanding to the external world, existing of things and the relations between them on logical language.

Resumen
The subject is multipolar globalization formed in the context of globomonocentrism and globopolycentrism confrontation. The aim is to study the process of globalization in its main (current and potential) manifestations, including bipolar, unipolar and multipolar models. Their essence and specificity are considered, their effectiveness is assessed, philosophical and worldview foundation is found. F. Fukuyama’s, S. Huntington’s, Z. Brzezinski’s conceptions are analyzed as a philosophical and worldview foundation of globomonocentrism; philosophical ideas of N. Y. Danilevsky, K. N. Trubetskoy, P. N. Savitsky — of globopolycentrism. It’s concluded that there’s a need to revise the global world order from a unipolar to a multipolar format. The importance of globopolycentrism as an alternative development strategy opposing neocolonialism is emphasized. Constructing a multipolar world is necessary to strengthen the civilizational sovereignty of modern Russia and other countries of the world. The article uses historical, logical and comparative methods of analysis, the civilizational approach as a methodological instrument to substantiate the multipolarity. The main conclusions are the following: globalization as a form of interaction between civilizations isn’t identical to globomonocentrism. It’s one of the forms (not the only and not the most perfect) of constructing the interaction of civilizations. Modern globomonocentrism (in fact, americanocentrism) tries to reconstruct the world in the interests of a neocolonial regime. An alternative form of civilizational coexistence, providing protection from neocolonialism, is a multipolar world. Today we can’t talk about abandoning globalization as a whole, only about changing its format from unipolar to multipolar globalization. Multipolarity basing on the worldview principle of globopolycentrism perceives other (not only highly developed) countries as equal partners. The globopolycentric model of a multipolar world has flaws as well as the bipolar and unipolar models, but it’s much more connected with objective reality and, therefore, gives humanity a chance to overcome global geopolitical crises.

It is difficult to track the philosophy foundation and epistemology of systemic functional grammar (SFG) formulated by Halliday in the 1980s as this kind of grammar views language as a systemic resource for meaning. Besides, it has had global impacts on linguistics and flourished in contemporary linguistic theory. Anyone who is familiar with Halliday’s work realizes that his SFG is an approach designed to analyze English texts. Halliday (1994: xv) explicitly states that “to construct a grammar for purposes of text analysis: one that would make it possible to say sensible and useful things about any text, spoken or written, in modern English.” The aim of this study is not about the applicability of SFG to text analysis as many researchers and scholars do. Over the past two decades, the general public in affluent western societies has become vividly aware of major disasters from around the world through the improving technology of the news media. Each one of us can readily recall the instantaneous reports on earthquake ravaged Guatemala in 1976; war-torn Nicaragua and Cambodia in 1979; and devastating earthquakes in Italy and Algeria in 1980.Once alerted to the magnitude of these disasters, private organizations (churches, foundations, civic clubs, etc.), some 300–400 in number, in dozens of countries mobilized public support through news reports, ads, public service announcements, speeches and circular letters. For example, the Pittsburgh area raised over one half million dollars for refugees in Southeast Asia in 1980 that was channeled through such groups as UNICEF, Catholic Relief Services, and the International Rescue Committee.

Resumen
The paper highlights the theory of cultural evolution by F. A. Hayek, which in retrospect appears as a complex and deep system, in many respects anticipating the ideas of modern evolutionary psychology. The first part provides a general description of the Hayekian approach, examines its theoretical foundation, and discusses the main stages of cultural evolution. Hayek was far from considering cultural evolution to be a copy of biological evolution, emphasizing its nonDarwinian nature. He defined the phenomenon of culture as a set of traditions, norms and rules of conduct lying between the world of natural objects that exist independently of man and the world of artificial objects created by his will and intellect. Hayek considered the central event of cultural evolution to be the transition from small hunter-gatherer groups to modern complex society, which he depicted as “an extended order of human cooperation”.

Resumen
In this paper, I aim to articulate, at least in part, what makes Sara Ahmed’s uses and analyses of metaphors fruitful for thinking about problems in the social world. I argue that Ahmed’s these metaphorical concepts perform three functions. First, her analyses improve our understanding of the social world precisely because we already understand the world through metaphors. They draw out the metaphors we use to think about ourselves and others and, in doing so, allow us to think more carefully about those metaphors. To support this claim, I will draw on the insights of George Lakoff and Mark Johnson in their seminal Metaphors We Live By. Second, one thing that Ahmed’s analyses of metaphors often allow us to see is that the movement and arrangement of bodies in the social world can be analyzed in poetic terms. To be clear, it is not just that we linguistically express and understand bodies through metaphor, metonymy, synecdoche, and the like, but also that the movement, arrangement, and reactions of our bodies are (1) themselves experienced as metaphorical and metonymical, and (2) that they provide the foundation for understanding social reality in metaphorical terms. Finally, as a result of the first two functions, Ahmed helps us imagine ways to intervene so that we can change how we live and interact with others. Specifically, to work toward positive social change, we might both (1) rework the metaphorical concepts we use to understand the social world and (2) alter our practices of movement that, all too often, reify existing social boundaries and inequalities.

Resumen
This article is an attempt to reconstruct the elements of the corporate culture of the schools for training warrant officers in Siberia (Omsk, Irkutsk) during the First World War. Any corporate culture is the foundation of society. The absence of this foundation is one of the reasons for the atomization of society — social disunity, which is expressed in a significant decrease in trust between people, the loss of the skills of collective problem solving and collective interaction. From this point of view, corporate culture is a means of stabilizing society. Therefore, it is necessary to study the positive and negative aspects of corporate culture. The materials of the 1st Kazan and Vladikavkaz (2nd Tiflis) schools for the training of infantry warrant officers are used in the work. As a result of the study, it is found that the corporate culture of the schools for the training of warrant officers in Siberia (Omsk, Irkutsk) included such elements as school holidays, school graduation badges, instructions and historical memos for students, norms of etiquette, etc.

Resumen
Abstract Cooperation between the World Bank and India goes back to the foundation of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) in 1944. As one of 44 countries, India prepared the agenda for the Bretton Woods Conference in June 1944. The Indian delegation led by Sir Jeremy Raisman, Finance Member of the Government of India, proposed the name "International Bank for Reconstruction and Development India managed to lift 133 million people out of poverty between 1994 and 2012. However, India with a population of 1.3 billion shows 5% of its population living in extreme poverty. In June 2018, India ran a current account deficit of USD 15.8 billion, marking the highest deficit in the last five years. India exported USD 261 billion in 2016, making it the 17th largest exporter in the world. However, India's export structure is still not really diversified and focuses primarily on commodities and primary products. Diamonds and jewelry and packaged pharmaceuticals account for about 20% of the export sector

Resumen
THE PARTICULARISTIC CHARACTER OF THE POLITICAL WORLD, THE separation of political communities into poleis, territorial-states or nation-states, has always provoked the universalist criticism of borders as artificial and incompatible with universal humanity. Such demarcations were even suspected of being one of mankind's greatest evils. Edmund Burke, for example, wrote in his A Vindication of Natural Society – a response to Rousseau's Discourse on the Origin and Foundation of Inequality – that ‘this artificial division of mankind, into separate societies, is a perpetual source in itself of hatred and dissention among them’.

Resumen
In the artistic world of Anton Chekhov’s vaudeville, we observe the collision of two worlds: the old and the new. The first world is a space of officials, bureaucracy and “official truthˮ. This is countered by an unpredictable world of hilarious absurdity and buffoonery. The article discusses the concept of updating an outdated form of life, which is part of the unique poetics of the absurd by Anton Chekhov. The main technique is the grotesque, presented on the pages of Anton Chekhov’s plays in both the modernist version of its development and the realistic one. If the modernist grotesque is the territory of satire, where everything “inappropriateˮ, new and unusual is condemned and ridiculed by the norms of the old world, then the realistic grotesque performs the function of eliminating or updating everything outdated through comprehensive ambivalent laughter, which is a refreshing foundation. Carnival laughter cleanses from everything dogmatic, removes ˮofficialˮ prohibitions, opening the doors to a new world free from edification. The cheerful absurdity of folkish life accompanies the outdating world and meets the emerging one in the same way as Anton Chekhov’s work saw off the epoch of the 19th century, meeting the new world of the 20th century.

Resumen
The Strophades are one of those places that enter into the imagination of a culture and shape its vision of the world. These islands entered the Greek cosmographical world as an etiological myth resulting from the transposition of a myth of divine punishment (Phineus) into a mythical conflict between two related, yet opposite cosmic powers (Boreads vs. Harpies). The whirling winds, the swirling/spinning movements and patterns associated with tornadoes and other turbulent atmospheric phenomena play a prominent role in the foundation narrative of the Strophades, 'Islands of Turning' where the Boreads turned around. The careful analysis of these motifs will allow to better understand how, in the context of the Alexandrian poetry's efforts to cast a new perspective on the world and to redefine its contours, a myth of aerial pursuit turns into an aition and into a nesiotic foundation myth with a cosmological dimension.

Resumen
Abstract Gravity based structures are in play from early times. Numerous structures are being installed around the globe. These structures had shown a rigid face towards the harsh conditions/situation in the offshore environment. The key factors for sustainability are geotechnical design and the sub soil survey. These structures are used for collection, transport and also for temporary storage of crude gas and oil. These structures serve as a bridge between the much need fuel and the modern world. The installation of GBS involves major wings of modern engineering i.e. Mechanical, Structural, architecture and Geotechnical engineering because these structures are a great challenge as considering the harsh and hard off shore conditions. These structures are having a much importance apart from its features i.e. from the point of economy, as the oil prices are touching the heights, it influences construction of GBS. Now a days most of the multinational companies are focusing towards the construction of offshore GBS, as well as paying much attention on research work off these structures because to make huge profit. In this paper an effort has been made to understand the different aspects which are related to GBS i.e. pre-construction operations, soil investigation, construction, installment and some of the safety aspects as considering it one of the most focused topics now and in future.

Resumen
This manuscript proposes a novel version of an academic program for community outreach in Native populations of Bangladesh. The curricular content was designed to gather and comprehensively understand community health experiences, and the design methodology proposed structured student learning around integrative factors that determined community health realities. The authors refer to the need to curricularly assign a basic human health need, such as water, nutrition, housing, sanitation, or work, so as to undertake an in-depth exploration of that topic and understand the practical conceptual foundation and interdependencies among the social determinants of health that produce community health outcomes. This document showcases student projects, their own practical solutions to real health problems, and how they and their community of teachers successfully learned and carried out simple solutions that can be applied to disadvantaged communities.
