Resumen
Abstract Floating wind power platforms are in constant motion due to waves when deployed at sea. This motion directly affects the stability and safety of the platform. Therefore, it is very important to study the laws governing the platform’s dynamic response. In this paper, the dynamic characteristics of an offshore floating wind power platform were analysed under nine different sets of operating conditions using a numerical calculation method. Following this, a scaled 1:50 platform model was tested in a tank. Model tests were carried out with different wave conditions, and dynamic response data for the platform were measured and analysed. The hydrodynamic variation rules of floating wind power generation platform in waves were obtained. Some effective measures for maintain the stability and safety of wind power platforms are put forward that can provide a reference for dynamic stability research and the design of floating wind power platforms in the future.

Resumen
The incentive and supervision design of cooperation between banks and B2B platforms was studied under the electronic warehouse receipt pledge financing model. Under the assumptions of B2B platform risk, neutrality, and risk aversion, a principal-agent model for cooperation was established between banks and B2B platforms. Its purpose was to expand and compare the models by adding supervision variables. It also helps to analyze the effects of risk aversion coefficients on effort level, fixed payment, incentive coefficients, and the impact of bank income. This paper has analyzed the banking system’s incentives and supervision mechanisms by performing numerical analysis on big data. We have used MATLAB for numerical analysis. The results show that banks’ expected benefits when cooperating with risk-neutral B2B platforms are always greater than the expected benefits obtained when cooperating with risk-averse B2B platforms. But when banks act, the increase in profits exceeds the cost of regulatory measures. Besides, when the bank takes supervisory measures, the profit will be greater than the profit without supervisory measures. Hence, the B2B platform’s ability to recover losses is positively correlated with the bank’s expected utility. The cost coefficient of the B2B platform is negatively correlated with the bank’s expected utility. The risk aversion degree does not affect the optimal effort level of the B2B platform, but it affects the optimal fixed payment and the optimal incentive coefficient.

Resumen
Over the years, the development of the Arctic region has been increasingly emphasized, and the research and development of offshore platforms has become a research hotspot for many countries. Among them, all kinds of platform equipment used in the polar region must consider the special conditions when operating in extreme environments. For the floating ice-resistant marine platforms, the calculation of ice load is of considerable importance and value for the applicability and reliability design. In this article, the Kulluk platform has been chosen for the study. The interactions between the structure and the sea ice, such as collision and extrusion, are numerically simulated through the finite element method. In this paper we will explain how to calculate the ice loads acting on the floating platform and the specific loads. By setting the real scale in the program, the maximum correspondence with the real situation can be achieved. Subsequently, the numerical simulation values were analyzed and compared with the actual situation and empirical formulas to verify the reliability of the numerical simulation. The applicability of the Kulluk platform model to the problem of interaction with the leveling ice has been validated.

Resumen
Finite element analysis (FEA) has become an increasingly important tool in evaluating structural performance of platforms. This includes the use of this tool to perform strength, stability checks, optimisation of structural design upon subjected to design loads as well as to perform failure investigation of platforms upon subjected to special loading conditions such as impacts. Traditionally, small and medium enterprises utilises laboratory (physical) testing and heuristic experience to fabricate and test the platforms, nonetheless this approach is deemed too time consuming and cost demanding. Therefore, this study aims at reconstructing the actual design based on engineering drawings as well as performing stress analysis by means of a commercial FEA software package, ANSYS v14.0 by investigating the effects of two distinct loading impacts on a mild steel platform. The maximum stress and maximum displacement values obtained via the FEA simulation was then compared with values obtained via theoretical computation. The results obtained via the FEA simulation was found to be in good agreement with the exact solution. The present study is non-trivial as it contributes towards the knowledge in the design and optimisation of complex steel structures.

Resumen
Sensitivity and specificity in biosensing platforms remain key aspects to enable an effective technological transfer. Considerable efforts have been made to design sensing platforms capable of controlling light–matter interaction at the nanoscale. Here, we numerically investigated how a 3D out-of-plane chiral plasmonic metasurface can be used as a key element in a sensing platform, by exploiting the variation in the plasmonic and lattice modes as a function of the refractive index of the surrounding medium. The results indicate that chiral metasurfaces can be used to perform sensing, by detecting the refractive index change with a maximum sensitivity of 761 nm/RIU. The metasurface properties can be suitably designed to maximize the optical response in terms of the shift, modulated by the refractive index of the analyte molecules. Such studies can pave the way for engineering and fabricating highly selective and specific chiral metasurface-based refractive index sensing platforms.

Resumen
Semi-submersible offshore platforms play a vital role in deep-sea energy exploitation. However, the vast waves threaten the platform’s operation, usually leading to severe consequences. It is essential to study the wave-slamming mechanism of offshore platforms under extreme wave conditions. Existing research usually simplifies the offshore platform slamming problem. This paper establishes a model of a semi-submersible platform and a flexible mooring system in a numerical pool by means of the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method. The distribution and the sensitivity of the slamming load on columns and deck in waves were investigated, and the model was verified through the basin test. Firstly, based on the Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes model, this study considers the volume-of-fluid method to track the free liquid level. After the column and floating body grid are locally refined, the slamming load under extreme regular wave impact is measured by measuring points on the column and deck. Then, the slamming experiment of the semi-submersible was carried out in the basin. The experiment model with a scale ratio of 1:100 was established to investigate the platform’s motion and slamming loads under extreme regular and irregular waves. The findings indicate that the slamming load at the junction of the column and deck significantly increased, exhibiting a ‘double-peak’ phenomenon at the middle of the column. The maximum pressure of slamming at the top of the column demonstrated an inverted U-shaped distribution, with negative pressure occurring after the peak value, indicating a pronounced oscillation effect.

Resumen
Nowadays, with the rapid development of the platform economy, Big Data-based Discriminatory Pricing (BDDP) has become a common phenomenon in which big data and algorithms are applied to excessively seize consumer surplus and thus damage the rights and interests of consumers. This work aims to explore the equilibrium strategies of the consumers, the government, and the service platform and discuss factors affecting the BDDP practice of the service platforms. This study constructs a tripartite evolutionary game model among consumers, service platforms, and the government. Two evolutionary equilibrium strategies are derived and validated using simulation. Numerical experiments are conducted using MATLAB to reveal players’ evolutionary stability strategies under various settings. The study shows that (1) the strategies of the government and the platform always influence each other, (2) a reasonable adjustment of tax rate helps regulate the platform’s behavior, and (3) the proportion of consumers who switch the platform after they realize themselves suffering BDDP is an important factor influencing platform’s strategy. This study lastly summarizes the managerial insights for dealing with the platform’s BDDP behavior and safeguarding consumers’ rights from the perspectives of macro-regulation and privacy data protection. The conclusions of this study can help promote the high-quality development of the platform economy.

Abstract The maximum assembling for some period on nested routing platforms of urban rail transit line were calculated by trend analysis method. Based on influencing factors of maximum assembling on platform, relative hypotheses were given. Platforms were divided to eight types by relations between platform and routing train. Interaction of passenger, train and platform, assembling change process, and calculation frames of maximum assembling on different type platforms carried out to be maximum assembling were concluded by trend analysis method. The numerical example application revealed that trend analysis method to calculate maximum assembling on nested routing platforms is feasible, and the final results by trend analysis method are more accurate than by one of codes for design of metro.

Resumen
Numerical simulation is one of the methods to assess landslide movement processes, which is beneficial for engineering design and urban planning. With the development of computer technology, GIS has gradually become the mainstream platform for landslide simulation due to data availability and algorithm integrability. However, the dynamic processes of landslides are complicated, which makes integration difficult on GIS platforms. Some assumptions are applied to simplify these dynamic processes and solve this problem. Generally, there are two main types of numerical models on GIS platforms: models based on the Eulerian description and models based on the Lagrangian description. Case studies show that Eulerian models are suitable for flow-like movement, and Lagrangian models are suitable for discrete rigid bodies movement. Different models face different problems: the Eulerian-based models show numerical diffusion and oscillation, and the Lagrangian-based model needs to consider complicated shear and collision processes. In addition, the 3-D model can describe more details in the z-direction, while the depth-averaged model can obtain a reasonable range of motion, depth, and speed quickly. From the view of numerical simulation, inappropriate models, assumptions, and numerical schemes will produce errors. The landslide type refers to several forms of mass wasting associated with a wide range of ground movements, which guides establishing dynamic models and numerical schemes on GIS platforms and helps us obtain results accurately.

Resumen
The landslide dynamics model is one of the methods for evaluating landslide motion processes, contributing to disaster prevention and mitigation. With the advancement of science and technology, GIS has become the mainstream platform for landslide simulation. However, the three-dimensional movement of landslides is intricate, leading to a lack of methods for three-dimensional landslide numerical simulation on GIS platforms. In this paper, we propose a three-dimensional, two-phase landslide dynamics model. Through the proposed solution, three-dimensional modeling and numerical simulation of landslides can be achieved on GIS platforms. Simultaneously, drawing inspiration from the SPH kernel functions, we visualize the results of the three-dimensional model on the GIS platform. Simulation of the Yigong landslide demonstrates that our solution can realize three-dimensional landslide simulation on the GIS platform. Our model adeptly captures numerous details in the landslide motion process. However, constrained by the inherent limitations of the three-dimensional model, the model results are susceptible to numerical oscillations and diffusion, with the accuracy of the model being controlled by grid partitioning.

Resumen
This paper reviews the research on shore platforms since 1980. Although some quantitative work on platforms was conducted in the late 1970s, it was principally in the 1980s that there was a change in the research paradigm, from qualitative observations to quantitative analyses. Researchers are now closer than ever before on agreeing that no single process can produce shore platforms in itself. The last decade has seen remarkable proliferation of research interests in shore platforms. Consequently, there are much-improved data sets on the processes acting on them. Even so, it has not yet been possible to establish definitively the precise role of each individual process in shore platform evolution. Laboratory simulation of platform morphodynamics has received much less attention compared to field-based studies. There are also some other aspects, such as threshold determination, geological control, inheritance, application of geo-informatics and focus on low-energy and tropical coasts, that have received limited attention. These areas are avenues for future research. To enable a better understanding of platform dynamics in a particular area, fieldwork, laboratory simulation and numerical modelling should be carried out simultaneously. Shore platforms are a global feature, and their study should be undertaken in all parts of the world through increased collaborative work among researchers.

Resumen
ABSTRACT A key challenge regarding development of carbonate platforms is predicting the temporal pattern of platform-margin progradation, aggradation, retrogradation, and drowning. Numerical forward models of carbonate sedimentation have been widely applied to this problem, shedding substantial light on the roles of sediment production, transport, tectonic subsidence, and eustasy on the evolution of carbonate platforms. However, forward models are typically complex and computationally expensive, preventing comprehensive exploration of parameter space. In addition, the interactions among parameters are often nonlinear, preventing the development of simple expressions relating the position of the platform margin to the governing parameters of the model. To complement the considerable insights derived from numerical forward models, this study presents analytical expressions for the temporal evolution of the position of platform margins using the simplest possible assumptions regarding sediment production and transport. These expressions provide useful null models, deviations from which can be used to identify the particular effects of biology or seawater chemistry on carbonate factories in influencing the development of these important sedimentary deposits. Application of the model to synthetic and outcrop examples demonstrates that these simple equations are useful for parameter estimation that can then be used to guide more detailed, process-based numerical forward models.

Resumen
It is standard for blockchain platforms to issue native tokens, or crytpocurrencies, that users must own to operate within the platform. Some blockchains, however, decided to issue two tokens, establishing a dual system, with one token typically for governance and the other for implementing functions on the blockchain, such as executing transactions or smart contracts. Therefore, the two tokens are used for different activities. Typically, owning the governance tokens gives the right to receive the other token for free, as a reward for participating in the blockchain decision-making and voting processes. However, both tokens can also be traded on some exchange nodes, which means that platform functions could be implemented even without owning governance tokens. In this paper, we discuss some economic fundamentals of dual-token blockchain platforms—in particular, how to establish their economic value and the market relative attractiveness of the two tokens. We do so by introducing some simple numerical indicators, based on prices, and traded circulating monetary quantities. Such indicators, which are meant to reflect the platform’s view on the tokens’ market desirability, could be computed in real time and used to support the platform’s policy making.

Offshore wind energy is a valuable renewable resource that is inexhaustible, strong, and consistent. To reduce cost and improve energy production efficiency, future trends are moving towards wind turbines in deep water, which use floating platforms such as tension leg platforms, barges, and semi-submersible designs. Compared to fixed based substructures, these floating platforms are in a state of constant motion which affects the power generation steadiness. The resulting complex dynamic behavior might compromise their efficiency and reduce their nominal life. The complex analysis of floating wind turbines requires computer tools that couple all the different components to represent the complete dynamic response. One such tool, developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, is the aero-hydro-servo-elastic tool FAST. In this work, simplified models are used for three platform types, and the results are compared with FAST as a way of understanding the essential dynamics. Secondly, using FAST, the influence of platform pitch motion on the steadiness of power generation is examined. This analysis is done for all three platforms for a constant above rated wind speed and above average wave load. Results demonstrate that the power output fluctuation depends on the platform type and blade pitch motion. The effect of platform pitch on the steadiness of power output is only apparent under large oscillating pitch motion, where recurring power drops are observed. The semi-submersible design performs well with relatively steady power output, while the barge design has the most unsteady output, as a result of its susceptibility to typical wave loads.

Resumen
With the development of internet technology, more two-sided market platforms, e.g., Tabao, Amazon and Lending Club, have emerged, and it is worth exploring the role that these two-sided market platforms can play in better serving users. This paper explores the impacts of platforms on participants’ trading strategies in the two-sided market, taking the online loan market as an example. Based on the management strategies of online lending platforms, we divided them into two categories: active online lending platforms and inactive online lending platforms. Evolutionary game theory and numerical simulation were employed to investigate the influences of these two types of platforms on the trading strategies of lenders and borrowers. We found that active and appropriate management measures taken by active online lending platforms can steer lenders and borrowers towards adopting win-win trading strategies, thus attracting more high-quality borrowers and corresponding investors. These results imply that a platform with two-sided market characteristics plays a crucial role in coordinating and guiding participants on both sides, and active management measures adopted by the platform can promote the benign operation of the two-sided market.

Resumen
Video platforms allow users to interact with others. They enhance the user experience by providing interaction functions, such as “like”, “comment”, and “share”. In order to explore the value of the users’ behavior to the video platforms, we constructed a video platform operation model that considered interaction and then identified the logical relationships implied by the parameters. We adopted the mathematical model method and analyzed the entire video platform system using numerical optimization techniques. From the pricing decision, we obtained the equilibrium result for the video platform profits and analyzed the favorable market demands. We complemented this strategy by proposing a model that enables platforms to consider the promotion behavior of advertisers. Finally, we expanded the basic model by analyzing the competitive strategies of two video platforms in the market. Our research shows that interactivity, advertisement nuisance, and advertiser profitability are important factors that influence video platform pricing strategies. When interactivity is weak, the platforms need to adjust their pricing to obtain a share of the users in the market. However, they need to obtain all the users in the market to achieve optimal profit. In addition, it is profitable for platforms to adopt promotion strategies when the users are highly sensitive to promotions.

Resumen
“Internet +” platform recycling is an emerging business model with two-sided market characteristics. How to meet the needs of consumers and manufacturers and how to formulate a reasonable two-sided pricing structure have become challenges faced by recycling trading platforms. Based on the theory of a two-sided market, the pricing mechanism of a monopoly platform and a model of competing platforms are studied. Consequently, a sensitivity analysis and comparison analysis are conducted, giving a pricing decision and the optimal profit of closed-loop supply chain systems. Finally, through a numerical simulation analysis, the impacts of the inter-group network externalities, service differentiation, and the matching efficiency on e-waste recycling prices and profits are obtained. The result indicates that the influences of inter-group network externalities on monopoly platforms and competing platforms are different; thus, platforms should choose pricing strategies according to their own market position. The pricing of the two types of platform is inversely proportional to the time-sensitive coefficient of the two platforms, while it is directly proportional to the matching efficiency. The improvement of the differentiation of service will increase the pricing of the platform for single-homing manufacturers without affecting the multi-homing consumers, and profits will increase accordingly.

Resumen
The observation path planning of an ocean mobile observation network is an important part of the ocean mobile observation system. With the aim of developing a traditional algorithm to solve the observation path of the mobile observation network, a complex objective function needs to be constructed, and an improved deep reinforcement learning algorithm is proposed. The improved deep reinforcement learning algorithm does not need to establish the objective function. The agent samples the marine environment information by exploring and receiving feedback from the environment. Focusing on the real-time dynamic variability of the marine environment, our experiment shows that adding bidirectional recurrency to the Deep Q-network allows the Q-network to better estimate the underlying system state. Compared with the results of existing algorithms, the improved deep reinforcement learning algorithm can effectively improve the sampling efficiency of the observation platform. To improve the prediction accuracy of the marine environment numerical prediction system, we conduct sampling path experiments on a single platform, double platform, and five platforms. The experimental results show that increasing the number of observation platforms can effectively improve the prediction accuracy of the numerical prediction system, but when the number of observation platforms exceeds 2, increasing the number of observation platforms will not improve the prediction accuracy, and there is a certain degree of decline. In addition, in the multi-platform experiment, the improved deep reinforcement learning algorithm is compared with the unimproved algorithm, and the results show that the proposed algorithm is better than the existing algorithm.

Resumen
Purpose This paper aims to study the pricing problems on the two-sided market for cases of monopoly and duopoly competition, specifically investigating the impact of platform service quality on the market. Theoretical analysis and computational studies are conducted to investigate the impact of different parameters on the system outcomes. Design/methodology/approach Mathematical formulations are proposed for cases of monopoly and duopoly competition. For monopolistic market, the optimal pricing and service quality strategies are obtained using mathematical programming method. For duopolistic market, the equilibrium outcomes are derived by game theory. Sensitivity analysis and numerical studies are also adopted to investigate the impact of different parameters. Findings For monopolistic market, the platform will provide a low service quality when the service cost parameter is large. However, when the cost parameter is small, the platform provides a higher service quality and higher registration prices. Furthermore, the sum of the optimal prices is proportional to the service quality and inversely proportional to the user price sensitivity. For duopolistic market, the competitive equilibrium prices exist under a certain condition. The determinants of equilibrium prices are the gap between the service qualities of two platforms and the cross-group externalities. Originality/value For monopolistic market, this paper specifies the role of platform service quality in determining the platform’s pricing strategy. For duopolistic market, this paper presents a market sharing mechanism between two platforms and explores the equilibrium pricing strategies for platforms with different service quality level.

Resumen
Numerical simulations have the potential to be used for designing damage-tolerance composite structures. However, numerical models are currently computationally intensive, and their post-failure evolution and fracture morphology predictions are still limited. In the present work, a numerical methodology to simulate advanced composite joints is presented. The results of a numerical campaign aimed to evaluate the progressive damage and failure analysis (PDFA) of an advanced pin-hole connection under tensile and compressive load are evaluated. A high-fidelity stacked shell-cohesive methodology is employed to simulate the ultimate load, fracture initiation, and propagation of the proposed composite joint. Post-failure erosion methodology is proposed to control the initiation and evolution of composite fractures. The location and extension of the numerically predicted damages are compared with experimental observations. The proposed methodology demonstrates its preliminary ability to be used for designing composite joints up to failure. Specific outcomes are also pointed out.

Resumen
The objective of “low-carbon supply chain” and the development of e-commerce platforms (as e-platform) has boosted the production and sales of low-carbon products. Although the e-platform’s involvement promotes the efficiency of low-carbon products circulation, it leads to channel competition and double marginalization. To mitigate these negative effects, in the context of low-carbon production, a three-player supply chain that contains a low-carbon manufacturer, an e-platform, and a retailer are investigated. By introducing the Stackelberg game and cooperative game theory, the supply chain is coordinated under a cooperative framework considering the commission rate of e-platforms. Subsequently, Mathematica is used for numerical simulation. The results show that intensified channel competition and excessive commission rates will lead to malicious price cuts by supply chain members, which is not conducive to the low-carbon production of manufacturers. Appropriate cooperation strategies can improve the value and identity of low-carbon products and optimize the supply chain system. For coordination of supply chain, three cooperative game-theoretic mechanisms can coordinate low-carbon dual-channel supply chain of the e-commerce platform (LCDESC) well under different situations. These findings provide managerial insights for managers of LCDESC.

Resumen
Characteristics of hydrodynamic forces and flow fields around the semi-submersible platform induced by the internal solitary wave (ISW) propagation were investigated in a 3D numerical wave tank. Good agreements between numerical results and experimental data of forces and torque on the platform were achieved. The hydrodynamic loads increased and decreased with the increases in the ISW amplitude and fluid depth ratio, respectively. The pressure mainly contributed to the force on the platform. The horizontal forces on bracings were negligible. Almost all the vertical forces on the platform were derived from those on pontoons. The horizontal force and torque on the platform increased with the increases in the angle between the platform symmetrical axis and the ISW propagation direction. The platform subjected the maximum vertical force when the angle was 0°. There were obvious velocity reductions around the platform during the ISW propagation, as visible vortexes shedding around the platform could be observed. Complexities of the distributions of flow fields around the platforms located at the 30°- and 60°-direction were greater than those around the platforms located at the 0°- and 90°-direction. Flow fields around the same kind components of each platform located at different angles were similar.

Resumen
This paper presents a simple numerical method for forward kinematics of general Stewart–Gough platforms, which can generate a unique solution directly. This method utilizes the trivial nature of the inverse kinematics of parallel manipulators, and derives a straightforward linear relationship between the small change in joint variables (leg lengths) and the resulting small motion of the platform. The solution to the forward kinematics is then achieved through a series of small changes in joint variables. Numerical examples validate and confirm the efficiency of the method.

Resumen
A new damage assessment method is proposed for aging offshore platforms based on dynamic tests. The stiff nesses of the measured model corresponding to the two measurement moments are estimated by a series of stiffness-correction factors, respectively. Based on these stiffness-correction factors a new damage indicator is defined aiming at reducing influences of existed damages accumulated before the first measurement on damage assessment occurred between the two adjacent measurements. One theoretical improvement is that the requirement using the stiffness matrix of FEM to replace the one of the measured model can be ignored in the calculation of MSE of the measured model. The other development is influences of damages accumulated before the first measurement on damage detection occurs between the two measurements could be reduced greatly, which is very important for aging platforms because these platforms have not been tested aiming at damage detection during their previous service life, especially for most platforms in China. A jacket platform is chosen for numerical studies, and numerical results show that the proposed method could identify damages occurred between the two measurements properly, even including damage severity estimation.

Resumen
Role of mini tension leg platforms (TLP) in oil exploration and production in marginal deepwater fields is becoming increasingly important. Mini TLP combines the simplicity of a spar and favorable response features of a TLP. In this paper, the results of a detailed experimental and numerical investigation of the coupled dynamic behavior of a mini TLP are reported with special attention to hull-tether coupling. The experimental study has been carried out using a scaled model in wave flume with specially designed tethers whose first two “string” natural frequencies are excited by waves, thus achieving strong hull-tether coupling. The numerical study has been carried out using a nonlinear time domain finite element method specifically addressed to compliant offshore platforms using a combination of potential theory based wave loading and Morison-type wave loading. Extensive comparisons between numerical and experimental results have been made both for platform motions and deflected shapes of the tethers and conclusions drawn.

Resumen
Wave loading is one of the leading factors contributing to fatigue damage of offshore platforms. Vibrations in marine platforms due to nonlinear hydrodynamic forces can reduce platform productivity, endanger safety, and affect serviceability. This article presents numerical evaluation of a magnetorheological elastomer device for wave-induced vibration reduction of offshore platform. Random wave loadings are estimated by wave spectrum analysis and Morison’s equations. By altering field-induced stiffness of magnetorheological elastomers and non-resonance control strategy, the wave-induced vibration of offshore platform is effectively reduced, and the magnetorheological elastomer device presents strong control robustness under various wave loadings. This work indicates that magnetorheological elastomer-base device may open a new insight for vibration mitigation of ocean structures.

Resumen
Tension-leg platforms have attracted increasing attention due to their smaller motion responses in platform planes among various offshore floating platforms. To better utilize wind energy sources, this paper carried out an improved modelling calculation for tension-leg floating foundations. A comparative study was conducted on the dynamic responses under environmental loading conditions via altering the tension legs’ connection angle. Based on potential flow theory and the Morison formulation, this paper established a complex system of tension-leg platforms under coupled nonlinear loads. After considering tension legs with different angles under the same or different environmental loads, numerical simulations were performed using AQWA for motion responses. Following this, the restraining effect on the platform motion responses and the tension changes of the tension legs are further discussed. The results indicate that compared with the existing tension-leg connection mode, this paper’s model could effectively reduce the dynamic responses in surge and pitch and improve the stability and safety of tension-leg platforms.

Resumen
With the development of the video-on-demand (VOD) technology, the audiences can decide to skip the advertisements by paying the video platform. This paper examines the optimal pricing decisions for an online video platform by considering the customer’s choice behavior. Based on a two-sided market that is composed of a monopolistic video platform, advertisers and audiences, we show that the platform’s optimal price charging from the advertisers is decreasing in the degree of audiences’ disutility for advertisements, while the optimal price charging from the audiences is convex in the degree of audiences’ disutility for advertisements. More interestingly, we find that the equilibrium number of advertisers on the platform and the video platform’s profit are both convex in the degree of audiences’ disutility for advertisements, which are counter-intuitive. We also extend our model to the case with two duopolistic platforms and find that the optimal number of advertisers on the platform is concave in the degree of audiences’ disutility for advertisements. Numerical experiments are further presented to reveal the managerial insights.

Resumen
Purpose This paper aims to investigate the investment strategy of a two-sided platform on reducing transaction costs of two user sides and to study the pricing problem of the platform. Design/methodology/approach Mathematical derivation is used to compute the optimal decisions of a two-sided platform on pricing and investment. Numerical analysis is used to illustrate the findings. Findings It is found that the demand of one user side decreases in the maximal transaction costs reduction to this side but increases in the maximal transaction costs reduction to the other side. It is also found that a platform should never choose the investment in such a way that the maximal transaction costs reductions of two user sides are the same. Research limitations/implications Several limitations exist in this paper, most of which exist due to the assumptions. These limitations could be good research directions in the future. For example, only one platform’s decision is considered, and platforms’ competition is not taken into account. Considering other platforms’ competition, the decisions of the users and the platform would be different. Originality/value From the transaction costs perspective, this paper finds that a platform should never choose the investment in such a way that the maximal transaction costs reductions of two user sides are the same. This conclusion has not been found in previous literature.

Working capability analysis of planar and spatial Stewart platforms with unilateral constraints on actuator length is carried out using numerical methods based on analytical criteria for the boundary of the accessible output set. Restrictions on achievable motion at singular configurations associated with points interior to the accessible output set are also analyzed. Since movement of the working point on a spatial Stewart platform occurs in three-dimensional space, the boundary of the accessible output set is a two-dimensional surface. Numerical methods used in this analysis map one-dimensional solution sets, permitting the boundary of the accessible output set to be characterized by a family of one dimensional generators. Motion control restrictions inside the accessible output set are similarly characterized by families of interior singular curves, and barriers to motion control across surfaces defined are analyzed.

Resumen
Abstract. Quantifying rates of erosion on cliffed coasts across a range of timescales is vital for understanding the drivers and processes of coastal change and for assessing risks posed by future cliff retreat. Historical records cover at best the last 150 years; cosmogenic isotopes, such as 10Be could allow us to look further into the past to assess coastal change on millennial timescales. Cosmogenic isotopes accumulate in situ near the Earth surface and have been used extensively to quantify erosion rates, burial dates and surface exposure ages in terrestrial landscapes over the last 3 decades. More recently, applications in rocky coast settings have quantified the timing of mass wasting events, determined long-term averaged rates of cliff retreat and revealed the exposure history of shore platforms. In this contribution, we develop and explore a numerical model for the accumulation of 10Be on eroding shore platforms. In a series of numerical experiments, we investigated the influence of topographic and water shielding, dynamic platform erosion processes, the presence and variation in beach cover, and heterogeneous distribution of erosion on the distribution of 10Be across shore platforms. Results demonstrate that, taking into account relative sea level change and tides, the concentration of 10Be is sensitive to rates of cliff retreat. Factors such as topographic shielding and beach cover act to reduce 10Be concentrations on the platform and may result in overestimation of cliff retreat rates if not accounted for. The shape of the distribution of 10Be across a shore platform can potentially reveal whether cliff retreat rates are declining or accelerating through time. Measurement of 10Be in shore platforms has great potential to allow us to quantify long-term rates of cliff retreat and platform erosion.

Resumen
Wave uplift forces on two dimensional platforms or docks in a variable depth medium has been studied theoretically and numerically. The incident waves are non-linear waves with maximum amplitude greater than the clearance between the still water surface and the underside of the platforms or docks. The flow is assumed to be inviscid, irrotational without ambient current. Thus, the theoretical model solves the Laplace equation along with full nonlinear free surface conditions. In order to conveniently handle the moving free surface in an irregular bottom topography with the presence of platform or dock an isoparametric mapping technique was used to transfer the fluid domain and its boundaries into a regular geometry. A Galerkin finite element model is developed to model the transformed fluid region. The resulting discrete equations are solved iteratively by using adaptive Line SOR (Successive-Over-Relaxation) technique. Artificial viscosity is included in both the dynamic and kinematic free surface equations to damp out the free surface oscillations in the front region of the platform or dock. The Runge-Kutta method is employed to integrate the time variation in the nonlinear free surface equations. Results obtained by the numerical method were compared to the available experimental data obtained by others in order to demonstrate the workability of the proposed algorithm.

Resumen
User-generated content (UGC) is developing rapidly as an emerging platform form, however, the problem of indirect copyright infringement by algorithms is becoming more and more prominent, and infringement governance has become a key act in the development of UGC platforms. When infringement occurs, recommendation algorithms expand the scope and results of infringement, while platforms choose to conspire with direct infringers for their own interests, making it difficult for infringed persons to defend their rights. In order to analyse the influence of different factors in the platform ecosystem on the subject’s behavioural strategies, a "platform-infringer" evolutionary game model is constructed, and numerical simulation is used to verify the correctness of the stable results. Based on the simulation results, it is concluded that the factors of uncertain revenue, punishment and reputation loss have important influence on the decision-making behaviour of the subject of infringement governance, and accordingly, the proposed measures on the publishers, platforms and the legal level of the government are conducive to the evolution of the system to the point of positive regulation and stability of rights protection, with a view to promoting the healthier and more stable development of the UGC platforms.

Resumen
For the jack-up platforms' huge size and complex structure, as well as the variation and complexity of their ambient corrosion environment, problems often arise in cathodic protection (CP) systems. The rise of the computer and the numerical simulation technology provide a new technical method to the prediction, evaluation and optimization of CP system for jack-up platform. Numerical simulation method has the advantage of examining potential maps of the entire structure easily and then the designer can determine the number and placement of anodes required to provide protection from the under and over protection regions based on a generic polarization response. In this paper the 3-D boundary element method was used to calculate the mathematical model of sacrificial anode CP system for a jack-up platform. Introduced piecewise quasi linearized method to deal with nonlinear problem of boundary conditions. Adopt block boundary element method to solve electrolyte inconsistency problem and points regional modeling to solve electrolyte discontinuous. From the results we can conclude that the jack-up platform sacrificial anode CP system meets the protection targets.

Resumen
Supersonic combustion is an advanced technology for the next generation of aerospace vehicles. In the last two decades, numerical simulation has been widely used for the investigation on supersonic combustion. In this paper, the modeling and simulation of supersonic combustion on general platforms are thoroughly reviewed, with emphasis placed on turbulence modeling and turbulence–chemistry interactions treatment which are both essential for engineering computation of supersonic combustion. It is found that the Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes methods on the general platforms have provided useful experience for the numerical simulation in engineering design of supersonic combustion, while the large eddy simulation methods need to be widely utilized and further developed on these platforms. Meanwhile, the species transport models as a kind of reasonable combustion model accounting for the turbulence–chemistry interactions in supersonic combustion have achieved good results. With the development of new combustion models, especially those designed in recent years for high-speed combustion, the turbulence–chemistry interactions treatment for numerical simulation of supersonic combustion based on general platforms is expected to be further mature in the future.

Resumen
This paper presents a literature review of the dynamics of offshore floating wind turbine platforms. When moving further offshore, there is an increase in the capacity of wind power. Generating power from renewable resources is enhanced through the extraction of wind energy from an offshore deep-water wind resource. Mounting the turbine on a platform that is not stable brings another difficulty to wind turbine modeling. There is a need to introduce platforms that are more effective to capture this energy, because of the complex dynamics and control of these platforms. This paper highlights the historical developments and progresses in the design of different types of offshore floating wind turbine platforms needed for harvesting the energy from offshore winds. The relative advantages and disadvantages of the platform types with the design challenges are discussed. The major types of floating platforms included in this study are tension leg platform (TLP) type, spar type, and semisubmersible type. This study reviews the previous work on the dynamics of the floating platforms for a single turbine and multiple turbines under various operating environmental conditions. The numerical methods to analyze the aerodynamics of the wind turbine and hydrodynamics of floating platforms are discussed in this paper. This paper also investigates the performance of analytical wake loss models of Jensen, Larsen, and Frandsen that can provide guidelines for using these wake models in future applications. There are still a lot of challenges that need to be addressed to study the accurate behavior of floating platforms operating under combined wind–wave environmental conditions. With the current technological advancements, the offshore floating multi-turbine platform can be a potential solution to harness the abundant offshore wind resource. Based on this literature review, recommendations for future work are suggested.

Resumen
The development of supply chain finance, its pricing strategy for bilateral business cooperation between e-commerce, banking institutions, and fourth-party logistics services providers has gained the attention of researchers. This paper combines the heterogeneous network location verification technology, starting from information asymmetry and Rubens bargaining game ideas, and combines it with game theory methods to provide a reference for bilateral cooperation decision-making on e-commerce platforms. The experiment results indicated the pricing decisions of e-commerce platforms which are affected by the efforts of the other party and the ability of bargaining. The quoted price increases with the decrease of the bank’s ability and the increase of the service provider’s ability. The pricing decisions of banks and service providers are only affected by the direct proportion of their respective business costs. When considering the introduction of incentive mechanism conditions, it is found that appropriate incentive conditions can increase the quotation of the e-commerce platform. The price quoted by the e-commerce platform that chooses to bargain with the bank is higher than the price quoted by the bank after negotiating with the service provider, which will help to better realize the benefits. Finally, the paper numerically analyzes the results of the bargaining game between e-commerce platforms and banks and fourth-party logistics service providers, and the numerical results verify the better performance.

Resumen
Accidental gas release is a major triggering event for the offshore oil and gas industry. This paper focuses on the experimental and numerical investigation for dispersion behavior of released gas on offshore platforms. For this purpose, an experimental system is designed and developed to investigate gas release and dispersion. A series of experiments are carried out, among which the scenarios with constant leakage rates and time-varying leakage rates are both emphasized. The gas concentrations at different sampling points are obtained to study the dispersion behavior and accumulation characteristics of the released gas. Furthermore, a numerical computational fluid dynamics model is established to replicate the experimental scenarios. Good agreement between experimental data and CFD simulation results is observed by calculating a series of statistical performance measures. The developed numerical model is subsequently utilized to investigate a gas release scenario on a practical offshore platform, in which a fully transient leakage rate is adopted considering the response of process protection measures. The developed numerical model could provide support for risk assessment and optimization of contingency plans against gas release accidents in offshore facilities.

Resumen
The online freight platform, also called freight resource sharing platform or freight O2O platform, developed rapidly lately, has gradually become the leaders in China’s road freight market in recent years, especially in the intracity freight market. The platform’s revenue mainly comes from the registration fee and commission, of which the commission is extracted from the freight rate. Therefore, how to determine the registration fee and freight rate becomes a key issue for the platform. Our research focuses on analyzing the pricing strategy by considering the charging mode, game model, and affecting factors. Based on the two-sided market theory and the classic Hotelling model, a tripartite game model of online freight platform-carrier-consignor is constructed. Furthermore, a game model of consignor and alternative carriers is built by introducing the platform user’s psychological pressure and satisfaction priority into the model. Finally, through mathematical derivation and numerical experiment, we analyze the effects of various factors on platform profits, platform registration fees, and freight rate, and propose some suggestions to promote the orderly development of online freight platforms for the intracity freight market.

Resumen
During the towing of semisubmersible platforms, waves impact and superpose in front of the platform to form a ridge shaped “water ridge”, which protrudes near the platform and produces a large slamming pressure. The water ridges occur frequently in the towing conditions of semisubmersible platforms. The wave–slamming on the braces and columns of platform is aggravated due to the water ridges, particularly in rough sea conditions. The effect of water ridges is usually ignored in slamming pressure analysis, which is used to check the structural strengths of the braces and columns. In this paper, the characteristics of the water ridge at the braces of a semisubmersible platform are studied by experimental tests and numerical simulations. In addition, the sensitivity of the water ridge to the wave height and period is studied. The numerical simulations are conducted by a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method, and their accuracy is validated based on experimental tests. The characteristics of the water ridge and slamming pressure on the braces and columns are studied in different wave conditions based on the validated numerical model. It is found that the wave extrusion is the main reason of water ridge. The wave–slamming pressure caused by the water ridge has an approximately linear increase with the wave height and is sensitive to the wave period. With the increase of the wave period, the wave–slamming pressure on the brace and column of the platform increases first and then decreases. The maximum wave–slamming pressure is found when the wave period is 10 s and the slamming pressure reduces rapidly with an increase of wave period.

Resumen
The increasing popularity of ride-hailing applications has given rise to a new channel in which ride-hailing platforms are bundled into aggregation platforms to earn additional orders by charging commissions and slotting fees. Such bundled channels, unlike traditional reseller electronic ones, may flutter prices, service levels, market demands, and then further affect their profits. These divergent attitudes raise an interesting and key question about whether and under what conditions bundled channels should be introduced to ride-hailing platforms. In this paper, we provide an analytical framework for ride-hailing and aggregation platforms in unbundled and bundled scenarios, respectively. We build a Stackelberg game model in which ride-hailing and aggregation platforms as leaders obtain prices by constructing Nash equilibria, while drivers as followers determine service levels given to two platforms. Drivers’ best responses in terms of service levels for two platforms, as well as platforms’ optimal pricing strategies and profits are achieved. To capture access conditions of the ride-hailing platform and the profit contention between two platforms, we further conduct sensitivity analysis on cost coefficients of service levels, price and cross-price substitutions, service level and cross-service level substitutions, revenue-sharing ratio, cost, as well as commission and slotting fee. Based on numerical examples and analysis of the results, some interesting managerial insights about bundling strategies are gained for ride-hailing platforms.

Resumen
In recent years, the regulation of double-round monopoly for super platforms has rapidly become a key instrument of the anti-monopoly practice for Internet platforms in China. This paper aims to explore the evolutionary mechanism of double-round monopoly by using evolutionary game theory and constructing a four-party evolutionary game model that includes a super platform, an incumbent platform, a startup platform, and a government regulator, based on considering the micro-dynamic interactions between subjects and the main influencing factors of the evolutionary mechanism using numerical simulation. This study illustrates that the decisions made by each subject and its probability changes affect the evolution rate of double-round monopoly. Depending on the probability of double-round monopoly in the market, government regulators need to be flexible in switching between strict and less-strict regulation strategies to evolve the system to a more desirable, stable state. As well, we conclude that the regulatory strength of the government regulator, the cross-border magnitude of the super platform, the innovation incentive subsidy of the startup platform, and the synergistic risk cost of the incumbent platform have more significant effects on the evolutionary process of double-round monopoly. Therefore, it is suggested that government regulators should focus on the cross-border magnitude of super platforms to safeguard the rights and interests of incumbent platforms and startup platforms in order to allow for fair competition. At the same time, they should also adjust the regulation intensity by the evolution of double-round monopoly in the market, in order to realize real-time dynamic regulation with the mutual coordination of multiple entities.

Resumen
A sufficiently accurate representation of the ocean physics is needed for reliable underwater acoustics forecasting. Ocean physics are often simulated by high-dimensional data-assimilative numerical ocean simulations. Due to operational constraints such as computing, memory, communication-bandwidth, etc., it is infeasible to run these numerical simulations onboard the platforms. In this work, we employ the onboard data-assimilative incremental, Low-Rank Dynamic Mode Decomposition (iLRDMD) for forecast transmission, onboard computation, and data assimilation. The iLRDMD is an adaptive reduced-order model (ROM) that uses proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) and DMD for compression and transmission of high-fidelity ocean forecast to communication-disadvantaged platforms. It provides reduced-order onboard forecasting and also enables efficient updates of the DMD model itself from inputs from remote centers. Finally, when sparse observations are made by the platform, the iLRDM uses Bayesian data assimilation to correct both the forecasts and the DMD model. We demonstrate the use of deterministic and data-assimilative iLRDMD forecasted ocean fields for underwater acoustics computations in real ocean examples. We further explore the use of our adaptive ROM for joint reduction of the ocean physics and acoustics fields.

Resumen
The huge traffic of e-commerce platforms provides a wide market for stores, but the fierce competition among stores for onsite traffic increases the cost of onsite promotion for stores, and it also reduces the effectiveness of promotion. Therefore, more and more stores on e-commerce platforms are using content platforms for offsite promotion. In the face of stores’ onsite and offsite promotion behaviors, the choice of competition and cooperation strategies among participants in the promotion process is the key to solving the problem of increasing traffic. Accordingly, this paper constructs an onsite and offsite promotion decision model consisting of an e-commerce platform, a store on the e-commerce platform, and a content platform, and it compares the results based on the decentralized decision situation, centralized decision situation, and promotion investment sharing situation. In addition, some results are presented in more detail in the form of numerical analysis. The results show that the promotion investment sharing does not change the level of onsite promotion investment, but the centralized decision makes the onsite promotion investment decrease; promotion investment sharing and centralized decision scenarios increase the promotion investment of the e-commerce platform and the content platform. When the sum of the parts of promotion investments shared by the store and the content platform for the e-commerce platform is relatively small, each participant will be willing to participate in the promotion investment sharing agreement. We believe that this study will provide important implications for the resolution of stores’ traffic dilemmas on e-commerce platforms.

Resumen
As the sharing economy develops in sustainable transportation, car-sharing platforms improve the allocation efficiency of idle cars to customers. However, as the travel demand increases, and the vehicle type becomes various, the sharing market faces a new challenge to satisfy the customers’ diverse needs for quality-differentiated cars. Each customer would like to choose the right car type, while the manufacturing firm and the e-commerce platform should set the right car price for profit maximization. How to match the platform’s product line with the customer’s choice behavior becomes a problem for all the stakeholders in the sharing economy. From the perspective of customer heterogeneity, we establish a game-theoretic framework to study product line optimization in business-to-consumer (B2C) and consumer-to-consumer (C2C) sharing. We solve the optimal quality decision and the optimal pricing strategy for the manufacturing firm and the e-commerce platform in the sharing economy. In numerical experiments, we investigate how the sensitivity of the quality and the cost can jointly influence the profits of sustainable transportation. Our findings show that within the product line, the firm’s selling profit in the C2C sharing is negatively influenced by the sharer’s valuation, while the platform’s sharing profit in the B2C sharing is independent of either buyer’s valuation. We give some policy implications for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers in the sharing economy and point out some limitations and recommendations for the product line design.
