Č in corso la redazione del Piano strategico e di alcuni progetti pilota all'interno della pianifi cazione concertata di tre comunitŕ del Parco Regionale Adda Sud, unite sotto la denominazione di Terreoltreadda, che condividono l'orientamento verso uno sviluppo territoriale sostenibile, la riduzione di emissioni in atmosfera e l'innovazione nei sistemi produttivi, insediativi e dei servizi. Apripista nel 2006 č stato il comune di Boffalora d'Adda, che ha cominciato a integrare la pianifi cazione urbanistica, approvando un Pgt sperimentale, e le singole azioni di progetto. Gli asset sui quali si gioca questa scommessa sono quelli dell'energia, con la sperimentazione di tecniche ambientali e di produzione di energie rinnovabili, della biodiversitŕ e delle acque, per la stretta correlazione non solo con il fi ume, ma con una rete storica di canali e fontanili, e quello della cultura, con la presenza dell'abbazia di Cerreto, dei nuclei storici e delle cascine.

Resumen

We studied the distribution of the homeodomain proteins Pdx-1 and Nkx 6.1 in the developing rat pancreas. During early development, nuclear staining for both Pdx-1 and Nkx 6.1 occurred in most epithelial cells of the pancreatic anlage. Subsequently, Nkx 6.1 became more β-cell-restricted, and Pdx-1 also occurred in other islet cell types and in the duodenal epithelium. During early pancreatic development, cells co-storing insulin and glucagon were regularly detected. The vast majority of these did not possess nuclear staining for either Pdx-1 or Nkx 6.1. Subsequently, cells storing insulin only appeared. Such cells displayed strongly Pdx-1- and Nkx 6.1-positive nuclei. Therefore, Nkx 6.1, like Pdx-1, may be an important factor in pancreatic development and in mature insulin cell function.

We investigate two current problems in active galactic nuclei – the mode of fueling the putative black hole, and the question whether the circumnuclear regions have experienced unusual chemical processing – by studying the kinematics and chemical abundance of the gas in the nuclear region of galaxies with sites of ongoing star formation near the active nucleus. We discuss the results for three galaxies with nuclear rings: NGC1097 – for which we recently discovered broad double peaked Hα and Hβ emission from its LINER nucleus (Storchi-Bergmann, Baldwin & Wilson 1993, ApJ 410, L11); NGC1672, which also presents a LINER nucleus; and NGC5248, a galaxy with a ring but no nuclear activity, used as a comparison. Narrow–band images obtained with the CTIO 1.5m telescope were used to map the emitting gas. Longslit spectroscopy obtained with the 4m telescope at high spectral resolution (at several positions over the nuclear region) was used to obtain the gas velocity field. In the two galaxies with LINER nucleus, the starforming rings are located in the turnover of the rotation curves, which show that the gas is rotating faster at the rings than farther out. We conclude that the rings are associated with inner Lindblad ressonances, which may be particularly effective in forcing gas inwards and fuelling the black hole (Wilson et al. 1986, ApJ 310, 121). From the emission line ratios the gas excitation is maped, and it is found that even in NGC5248, the nucleus presents a different excitation, suggesting a very mild LINER activity. Low-dispersion spectroscopy was also obtained in order to calculate the chemical abundances and compare the values obtained for the nuclear gas with those obtained for the HII regions in the ring and beyond the ring (when present). The goal is to check the results of recent studies (Storchi-Bergmann & Pastoriza 1989, ApJ 347, 195; 1990, PASP 102, 1359), based on spectroscopy of the nucleus, which indicate an enhanced abundance of nitrogen, up to 5 times solar for the gas of the narrow line region of LINER and Seyfert 2 nuclei.

Il testo prende in considerazione l’evoluzione storica dell’autocomprensione ecclesiale avendo come punti di riferimento definizioni conciliari prese come eventi determinanti per la vita della Chiesa. La riflessione vuole essere una proposta di let-tura del passato volto alla proiezione verso il futuro, nell’evidenziare tre nuclei teo-logici permanenti e fondanti sia l’esperienza di fede, come la consapevolezza di essa, vissuta nella prassi sacramentale in comunione e forza della dimensione magisteria-le. Nessun modello che possa evincersi vuole essere esaustivo, tutt’altro, aprendosi ad una dinamica complementare, desidera dare della realtà ecclesiale una descrizio-ne capace di metterne in evidenza diversi elementi fondanti. La proposta di tale ricerca vuole mostrare la continuità misteriosa dell’Alleanza fra Dio e l’uomo compiuta in Cristo e vivente nella storia della Chiesa. Tale storia deve essere con responsabilità interpretata e rispettata per poterne coglie-re, attraverso la sfida dei modelli, le caratteristiche perenni nel loro abitare la storia degli uomini. Fino a che la Chiesa vorrà essere posseduta invece che abitata non potrà dirsi compresa, solo osservata e giudicata. L’auspicio è di mostrare come la ripresa di un’ermeneutica storico-sapienziale permetta di aprirsi alla sorpresa dell’imprevedibile di Dio.

Resumen

Reproductive technologies have been often used as a tool in research not strictly connected with developmental biology. In this study, we retrace the experimental routes that have led to the adoption of two reproductive technologies, ICSI and somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT), as biological assays to probe the ‘functionality’ of the genome from dead cells. The structural peculiarities of the spermatozoa nucleus, namely its lower water content and its compact chromatin structure, have made it the preferred cell for these experiments. The studies, primarily focused on mice, have demonstrated an unexpected stability of the spermatozoa nuclei, which retained the capacity to form pronuclei once injected into the oocytes even after severe denaturing agents like acid treatment and high-temperature exposure. These findings inspired further research culminating in the production of mice after ICSI of lyophilized spermatozoa. The demonstrated non-equivalence between cell vitality and nuclear vitality in spermatozoa prompted analogous studies on somatic cells. Somatic cells were treated with the same physical stress applied to spermatozoa and were injected into enucleated sheep oocytes. Despite the presumptive fragile nuclear structure, nuclei from non-viable cells (heat treated) directed early and post-implantation embryonic development on nuclear transfer, resulting in normal offspring. Recently, lyophilized somatic cells used for nuclear transfer have developed into normal embryos. In summary, ICSI and SCNT have been useful tools to prove that alternative strategies for storing banks of non-viable cells are realistic. Finally, the potential application of freeze-dried spermatozoa and cells is also discussed.

The homeobox gene product Nkx 6.1 is of unknown function but is expressed in the pancreas and the antropyloric mucosa of the stomach. In the adult pancreas, Nkx 6.1 possesses an insulin cell-restricted distribution, whereas its localization in the stomach is unknown. We now show that the vast majority of serotonin-producing enterochromaffin cells of the antropyloric mucosa contain Nkx 6.1-immunoreactive nuclei. In addition, a subpopulation of cells co-storing serotonin and gastrin display Nkx 6.1-positive nuclei. Such cells have been postulated to represent precursors of mature gastrin and serotonin cells. The nuclei of the co-storing cells have previously also been found to be positive for another homeodomain protein, Pdx-1. Pdx-1-deficient animals were therefore investigated and were found to be devoid of Nkx 6.1-positive nuclei. Our data show that Pdx-1 is needed for Nkx 6.1 expression and suggest a role for Nkx 6.1 in the maturation of gastrin- and serotonin-positive precursor cells.

Resumen

The paper theoretically studies the possibility of energy transformation of fast and epithermal neutrons to energy of coherent photon radiation at the expense of a neutron pumping of the active medium formed by nucleus with longliving isomerous states. The channel of the nucleus formation in isomeric state as a daughter nucleus resulting from the nuclear reaction of neutron capture by a lighter nucleus is taken into consideration for the first time. Assessment of neutron flux spectrum parameters providing transition from the main state into one of the excited ones for the nuclei of isotopes54Xe130,10Ne22is made. It was shown that to transit the isotope nuclei into the excited state by forward neutron scattering on the nuclei it is necessary to “select” the isotopes not only with great specific energy of nucleons coupling but also with a small value of the neutron absorption cross section. Moreover, the paper performs the analysis of cross sections dependence of radiative neutron capture by the nuclei of gadolinium isotopes Gd155and Gd156. As a result, the speed of Gd156nuclei formation is stated to exceed the speed of their “burnup” in the neutron flux. It is provided by a unique combination of absorbing properties of two isotopes of gadolinium Gd155 and Gd156 in both thermal and resonance regions of neutron energy. We have formulated the conditions required for making isotope nuclei excited by forward neutron scattering on nuclei and for storing nuclei in excited states. The relation which allows estimating processes parameters of neutron capture by nuclei, formation and decay of nuclei isomeric states is obtained as a result of analytical solution of differential equations system of nuclide kinetics taking into account the decay of nuclei isomeric states. The paper makes the possibility analysis of neutron pumping of the participating medium created by the hafnium isotope nuclei. The properties of hafnium isotopes nuclei is found to do not allow providing conditions for population inversion of energy levels due to the formation of hafnium nuclei in isomeric state Hf178m2in the neutron flux. The paper shows the possibility of excess energy accumulation in the participating medium created by the nuclei of the pair of gadolinium isotopes Gd155and Gd156due to formation and storage of nuclei in isomeric state at radiative neutron capture by the nuclei of the stable isotope with a smaller mass. It is concluded that when the active medium created by gadolinium nuclei is pumped by neutrons with the flux density of the order of 1013cm-2·s-1, the condition of levels population inversion can be achieved in a few tens of seconds. The wave length of the radiation generated by the medium is 0.0006 nm. Sintered ceramics Gd2O3based on enriched in the 155-th isotope of gadolinium can be considered a possible active medium. Thus, there is a possibility of creation of the laser techniques of new generation with the parameters providing its application in pulse power engineering of the future.

Resumen

We propose an aerial robot-based system for monitoring environmental nuclear radiation in real time by taking advantage of the robot responsiveness and efficiency. In the proposed system, we employed small-sized nuclear radiation monitors, 3G/2.4G wireless communication and information distribution techniques to quickly and accurately image the site as well as to measure dose and distribution parameters of nuclear radiation. These data can be sent to the on-site center and the data center via 3G network, allowing data analysis, processing, storing and distribution. Our tests showed that our system was capable of satisfying environmental monitoring requirements on real-time data collection and transmission. Our system provides a novel monitoring platform for transmitting, storing and processing data of environmental nuclear radiation.

Il geomagnetismo è un fenomeno noto fin dall'Antichità, ma i primi studi scientifici risalgono all'inizio del XVII secolo con l'opera De Magnete di William Gilbert. Tuttavia l'origine di un fenomeno così importante è rimasta un mistero fino alla metà del XX secolo. La spiegazione dell'origine coinvolge teorie fisiche quali la magnetoidrodinamica e la fisica del plasma, che sono state sviluppate solo nel secolo scorso. Un approccio storico all'argomento è di grande interesse, perché evidenzia in che modo lo studio sistematico del fenomeno e la convergenza dei contributi di numerosi scienziati di vari Paesi ha condotto nel corso del tempo alla soluzione dell'enigma.

La questione nucleare rappresenta il principale elemento critico nella storia recente della Repubblica Popolare Democratica di Corea. È noto quanto la problematica occupi centralità nella discussione attuale circa i rischi di instabilità che pone a livello geopolitico, date le due crisi nucleari che hanno riguardato il paese. Nella tesi, viene affrontata l’ideologia, il Juche, e si forniscono cenni storici inerenti la sua creazione. Segue una discussione della questione nucleare, che intende fornire un’analisi del modus operandi della RpdC e di come la questione si è venuta evolvendo a livello internazionale attraverso i negoziati. Si discutono le implicazioni economiche di tale situazione: l’orientamento generale dell’economia nord-coreana, l’enfasi sull’industria militare e i metodi adottati per far fronte a momenti critici, in particolare le sanzioni. Infine, vengono considerate le sfide future e gli interessi in gioco, mostrando le complessità a cui si dovrà far fronte, se si intende risolvere la questione nucleare.

Questo elaborato si propone di indagare le condizioni e i fattori che hanno reso possibile il raggiungimento dell’accordo sul nucleare nel 2015 tra Iran, i 5 membri permanenti del Consiglio di Sicurezza Onu più la Germania e l’UE, dopo anni di negoziazioni inconclusive. Il tema del nucleare è un campo delicato in quanto la ricerca orientata verso un’energia nucleare civile può sfociare facilmente in applicazioni militari dell’atomo. Inoltre, le attività segrete e la poca chiarezza da parte di Teheran hanno allarmato l’Occidente per molti anni. Trattando del nucleare, è necessario prima comprendere cosa spinge uno stato a perseguire le armi nucleari per poi delineare i punti più ostici della negoziazione che diviene ancora più difficile quando condotta relativamente ad un tema così significativo. Successivamente, è essenziale disegnare un quadro generale sull’Iran per capire come si è sviluppato il programma nucleare iraniano e il contesto governativo proprio di Teheran, così come il tipo di politica estera. Fulcro di questa tesi è il Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Le varie fasi di negoziazione, i diversi attori, i motivi di disaccordo e i fattori che hanno sbloccato la situazione saranno analizzati per delucidare meglio i tratti dell’accordo. Un ultimo capitolo, infine, proporrà un confronto con altre situazioni di negoziazione sul nucleare, risolte con successo o meno, al fine di mettere in risalto gli aspetti per cui l’accordo con l’Iran si è concretizzato.

Negli anni Ottanta si assiste tanto nel vecchio quanto nel nuovo continente alla rinascita del movimento antinucleare. Mentre in Europa l’origine di questa ondata di proteste antinucleari è collegata alla “doppia decisione” NATO del 1979, negli Stati Uniti la genesi si colloca nel contesto dalla mobilitazione dei gruppi ambientalisti in seguito all’incidente alla centrale nucleare di Three Mile Island. Dopo l’elezione di Ronald Reagan, alle proteste contro le applicazioni pacifiche dell’atomo si affiancarono quelle contro la politica nucleare del Paese. La retorica di Reagan, il massiccio piano di riarmo, unitamente al rinnovato deteriorarsi delle relazioni tra USA e URSS contribuirono a diffondere nell’opinione pubblica la sensazione che l’amministrazione Reagan, almeno da un punto di vista teorico, non avesse escluso dalle sue opzioni il ricorso alle armi nucleari nel caso di un confronto con l’URSS. I timori legati a questa percezione produssero una nuova ondata di proteste che assunsero dimensioni di massa grazie alla mobilitazione provocata dalla Nuclear Weapons Freeze Campaign (NWFC). Il target della NWFC era l’ampio programma di riarmo nucleare sostenuto da Reagan, che secondo gli attivisti nucleari, in un quadro di crescenti tensioni internazionali, avrebbe fatto aumentare le possibilità di uno scontro atomico. Per evitare lo scenario dell’olocausto nucleare, la NWFC proponeva «un congelamento bilaterale e verificabile del collaudo, dell’installazione e della produzione di armi nucleari». L’idea del nuclear freeze, che era concepito come un passo per fermare la spirale del riarmo e tentare successivamente di negoziare riduzioni negli arsenali delle due superpotenze, riscosse un tale consenso nell’opinione pubblica americana da indurre l’amministrazione Reagan a formulare una risposta specifica. Durante la primavera del 1982 fu, infatti, creato un gruppo interdipartimentale ad hoc, l’Arms Control Information Policy Group, con il compito di arginare l’influenza della NWFC sull’opinione pubblica americana e formulare una risposta coerente alle critiche del movimento antinucleare.
At the end of the Seventies, the antinuclear movement in both Europe and in the United States experienced a resurgence, having lain dormant for much of the previous decade. In Europe, the origin of this fresh antinuclear wave is most often traced back to NATO’s ‘double track’ decision of 1979. In America, environmental groups mobilized against the use of nuclear power following the accident at Three Mile Island, while at the same time the fear of nuclear war reinforced the movement for nuclear disarmament, which criticised the nuclear military build-up and the collapse of détente. In the early 1980s therefore the American antinuclear movement experienced a renaissance, due also to the convergence between the well-established pacifist tradition and the new political environmentalism. The organization through which the U.S. antinuclear movement became a mass phenomenon during Reagan tenure was the Nuclear Weapons Freeze Campaign (NWFC). The target of the NWFC was Reagan’s nuclear build-up that, according to antinuclear activists, was increasing the peril of a nuclear confrontation. To avoid this scenario the movement proposed a bilateral freeze on nuclear weapons. At the same time the Reagan administration created an ad hoc interdepartmental group, the Arms Control Information Policy Group in order to face the NWFC’s influence on public opinion and to shape the public debate on arms control issue. The interplay between the Freeze movement and the White House took the form of a competition to gain the support of American public opinion. In analyzing this interplay, this study try to understand how the resurgence of antinuclear activism in the Eighties how the fear of nuclear annihilation helped to elevate public awareness of peace and disarmament issues, how disarmament movements attempted to influence government decision-making, how the dialogue about nuclear weapons between antinuclear groups and policy-makers evolved.

Il tema del nucleare da ormai molti anni continua ad essere fortemente discusso non solo per la sua pericolosità ambientale, ma anche per la sua effettiva sicurezza nei confronti della popolazione mondiale. Un percorso storico che è iniziato nel 1943 e rimane ancora oggi fonte di forti polemiche ambientaliste e sociali. Il tema del nucleare e del suo utilizzo, prima per scopi bellici e poi per scopi energetici, non è assolutamente una novità, ma analizzando in modo trasversale diversi casi di studio come quello di Three Mile Island per gli USA, Chernobyl per gli URSS e Fukushima Daiichi per il Giappone, riscontriamo nei movimenti anti-nucleari di queste regioni una reazione comune totalmente femminile.

Questo volume si propone di indagare le ragioni per cui in Turchia la memoria individuale e la costruzione della soggettività, intese in senso lato, debordino così spesso dai confini dell'individuo per inglobare le problematiche dell'identità nazionale. Le "scritture del sé", che siano confessioni, memorie, romanzi autobiografici e biografici, sono state scelte quali strumenti per giungere a comprendere i meccanismi di costruzione della memoria individuale e collettiva. Le problematiche relative alla costruzione della moderna nazione turca con i suoi eventi storici traumatici, gli approcci al tema della memoria da parte dei segmenti esclusi dal discorso dominante ed egemone, costituiscono i nuclei tematici centrali attorno a cui si sviluppa la riflessione degli autori.

Resumen

Scoprire Laura Coen Luzzatto significa arrivare al nucleo della storia musicale del Novecento italiano, il backstage della complessa traversata dodecafonica compiuta da Luigi Dallapiccola, accendere un faro sulla luce che ha illuminato il percorso del compositore tra i drammi del secolo breve. Laura incontra Luigi nel 1931 a Firenze, e da allora si consacra a lui e alla sua arte: nel 1938 lo sposa e diventa Laura Dallapiccola. Triestina ebrea e atea lei, istriano cattolico e dubbioso lui, entrambi arrivati in città grazie al mito di Dante, e da subito entrati in sintonia anche grazie alla tesi di laurea di Laura – qui meritoriamente riportata alla luce dall’Università dove la discusse nel 1932 – per quello spirito di rivendicazione dell’italianità delle loro comuni terre di confine. Da quel momento la storia del compositore si apre grazie a lei alla cultura europea, a Joyce, Proust, Mann e, ancora grazie a lei, la dodecafonia dallapiccoliana è anche radicata nella vocalità della cultura italiana, differenziandosi da quella viennese. Laura, dunque, per scoprire meglio Luigi Dallapiccola e per guardare con occhi nuovi il Novecento.

This chapter considers nuclear futurity and long-term radioactive half-life and decay as timescales of continuity that are figured in eerie and apocalyptic ways not only in fictions that engage with nuclear anxiety during the Cold War (Elizabeth Bowen and Samuel Beckett) but also in the engineering projects that deal with the inconceivably long aftermath risks in deep underground nuclear waste disposal. Gunther Anders’ 1962 ‘Theses for an Atomic Age’ is compared with late 1980s Nuclear Industry Radioactive Waste Executive (Nirex) reports into the suitability of storing highly radioactive waste in deep boreholes, and pairs literary/cultural speculation with actual storage facility technologies to explore the deep time of nuclear waste continuities beyond the Cold War. The bunker mentality of the high Cold War is addressed through the relation between family nuclear shelters and the underground systems of the nuclear state. Geologist J. Laurence Kulp, who developed radioactive isotope dating of ancient rock formations, inadvertently stumbled on the radioactive effect of nuclear tests. Kulp's discovery led to the test ban treaty of 1963 and consolidated in the public imagination the link between deep geological time, radioactivity, and underground secret tomb/refuge systems. The article ends with a meditation on the contemporary nuclear repository.

Resumen

Drawing on Mackenzie & Spinardi’s research into the potential un-invention of nuclear weapons through the loss of tacit knowledge, this chapter explores a range of artistic responses to the 2011 Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant disaster. Mackenzie & Spinardi’s work on nuclear weapons design, testing and computing, allows us to think about a new mode of nuclear aesthetics, providing conceptual frameworks relevant to contemporary art practice and discourse such as: the contested nature of sameness in the repetition of objects; the importance of the slowness of tacit knowledge; of the human eye, making and learning with others; the limits of code; and the erosion of nuclear belief systems. Recent artistic practices in Japan and internationally, explore counterfactual possibilities across time; where aspects of nuclear culture are made visible or possible in a world where apocalyptic scenarios are streamed live. The responsibility for nuclear materials is shifting from state weapons production to the privatized nuclear energy industry, and into the public realm of nuclear accidents and public consultation on long-term waste disposal. Artists are concerned with how the networks are interrupted, looped, mapped, slowed down for reflection on how things are made, how stories are told, and how knowledge is consolidated.

La libertà di divorzio, più di ogni altro diritto nell’ambito della disciplina giuridica sulla famiglia, è l’espressione di una volontà individuale. Essa può essere interpretata come complementare alla libertà di matrimonio, con la differenza che quest’ultima è stata riconosciuta dallo Stato come elemento primario e fondante della famiglia in largo anticipo rispetto alla libertà di divorzio. Nella storia del diritto di famiglia il nucleo famigliare è sempre stato considerato quale bene giuridico primario, da tutelare anche a scapito dell’esercizio dei diritti dei suoi singoli componenti. Il divorzio è stato relegato per molto tempo fra i fattori sociali destabilizzanti, per la sua espressione spiccatamente individualistica, e perciò non ammesso.
