Resumen
In view of the importance of quantum non-locality in cryptography, quantum computation, and communication complexity, it is crucial to decide whether a given correlation exhibits non-locality or not. As proved by Pitowski, this problem is NP-complete, and is thus computationally intractable unless NP is equal to P. In this paper, we first prove that the Euclidean distance of given correlations from the local polytope can be computed in polynomial time with arbitrary fixed error, granted the access to a certain oracle; namely, given a fixed error, we derive two upper bounds on the running time. The first bound is linear in the number of measurements. The second bound scales with the number of measurements to the sixth power. The former holds only for a very high number of measurements, and is never observed in the performed numerical tests. We, then, introduce a simple algorithm for simulating the oracle. In all of the considered numerical tests, the simulation of the oracle contributes with a multiplicative factor to the overall running time and, thus, does not affect the sixth-power law of the oracle-assisted algorithm.

Resumen
Traditional correlation analysis is analyzed separately in the time domain or the frequency domain, which cannot reflect the time-varying and frequency-varying characteristics of non-stationary signals. Therefore, a time–frequency (TF) correlation analysis method of time series decomposition (TD) derived from synchrosqueezed S transform (SSST) is proposed in this paper. First, the two-dimensional time–frequency matrices of the signals is obtained by synchrosqueezed S transform. Second, time series decomposition is used to transform the matrices into the two-dimensional time–time matrices. Third, a correlation analysis of the local time characteristics is carried out, thus attaining the time–frequency correlation between the signals. Finally, the proposed method is validated by stationary and non-stationary signals simulation and is compared with the traditional correlation analysis method. The simulation results show that the traditional method can obtain the overall correlation between the signals but cannot reflect the local time and frequency correlations. In particular, the correlations of non-stationary signals cannot be accurately identified. The proposed method not only obtains the overall correlations between the signals, but can also accurately identifies the correlations between non-stationary signals, thus showing the time-varying and frequency-varying correlation characteristics. The proposed method is applied to the acoustic signal processing of an engine–gearbox test bench. The results show that the proposed method can effectively identify the time–frequency correlation between the signals.

Resumen
Among the various types of approximations to the exchange–correlation energy ( EXC), the completely non-local approach is one of the lesser explored approximation schemes. It has not yet reached the predictive power of the widely used generalized gradient approximations, meta-generalized gradient approximations, hybrids, etc. In non-local functionals pursued here, the electron density at every point in space is employed to express the exchange–correlation energy per particle ϵXC(r) at a given position r. Here, we use the non-local, spherical-averaged density [Formula: see text] as a starting point to construct approximate exchange–correlation holes through the factorization ansatz ρXC(r, u) = f(r, u) ρ(r, u). We present upper and lower bounds to the exchange energy per particle ϵX(r) in terms of ρ(r, u). The factor f(r, u) is then designed to satisfy various conditions that represent important exchange and correlation effects. We assess the resulting approximations and find that the complex, oscillatory structure of ρ(r, u) makes the construction of a corresponding f(r, u) very challenging. This conclusion, identifying the main issue of the non-local approximation, is supported by a detailed analysis of the resulting exchange–correlation holes.

Resumen
A key hurdle in turbulence modelling is the closure for the pressure–strain correlation. Herein, the challenge stems from the fact that the non-local dynamics due to pressure cannot be comprehensively incorporated in a single-point closure expression. In this article, we analyse different aspects of the dynamics due to pressure for their amenability with the single-point modelling framework. Based on this, an approach is proposed that incorporates a set of pragmatic compromises in the form and the scope of the model to augment the degree of non-local dynamics that may be approximated by a single-point pressure strain correlation model. Thence, this framework is utilized to formulate an illustrative model. The predictions of this model are compared to numerical and experimental data and contrasted against other established closures over a range of homogeneous flows, under diverse conditions. Finally, the regions of validity in anisotropy space for this illustrative model are delineated using the process realizability criteria for different flows.

Resumen
Snapshot Compressive Imaging is an emerging technology that is based on compressive sensing theory to achieve high-efficiency hyperspectral data acquisition. The core problem of this technology is how to reconstruct 3D hyperspectral data from the 2D snapshot measurement in a fast and high-quality manner. In this paper, we propose a novel deep network, which consists of the symmetric residual module and the non-local spatial-spectral attention module, to learn the reconstruction mapping in a data-driven way. The symmetric residual module uses symmetric residual connections to improve the potential of interaction between convolution operations and further promotes the fusion of local features. The non-local spatial-spectral attention module is designed to capture the non-local spatial-spectral correlation in the hyperspectral image. Specifically, this module calculates the channel attention matrix to capture the global correlations between all of the spectral channels, and it fuses the channel attention attained feature maps and the spatial attention weighted features as the module output, thus both of the spatial-spectral correlations of hyperspectral images can be fully utilized for reconstruction. In addition, a compound loss, including the reconstruction loss, the measurement loss, and the cosine loss, is designed to guide the end-to-end network learning. We experimentally evaluate the proposed method on simulation and real datasets. The experimental results show that the proposed network outperforms the competing methods in terms of the reconstruction quality and running time.

Resumen
Everett's concept of relative state can be viewed as a map that contains information about correlations between measurement outcomes on two quantum systems. We demonstrate how geometric properties of the relative state map can be used to develop operationally well-defined measures of the total correlation in bipartite quantum systems of arbitrary state space dimension. These measures are invariant under local unitary transformations and non-increasing under local operations. We show that some known correlation measures have a natural interpretation in terms of relative states.

Resumen
A quantum correlation N F G , A for ( n + m ) -mode continuous-variable systems is introduced in terms of local Gaussian unitary operations performed on Subsystem A based on Uhlmann fidelity F. This quantity is a remedy for the local ancilla problem associated with the geometric measurement-induced correlations; is local Gaussian unitary invariant; is non-increasing under any Gaussian quantum channel performed on Subsystem B;and is an entanglement monotone when restricted to pure Gaussian states in the ( 1 + m ) -mode case. A concrete formula for ( 1 + 1 ) -mode symmetric squeezed thermal states (SSTSs) is presented. We also compare N F G , A with other quantum correlations in scale, such as Gaussian quantum discord and Gaussian geometric discord, for two-mode SSTSs, which reveals that N F G , A has some advantage in detecting quantum correlations of Gaussian states.

Resumen
Given a discrete sample of event locations, we wish to produce a probability density that models the relative probability of events occurring in a spatial domain. Standard density estimation techniques do not incorporate priors informed by spatial data. Such methods can result in assigning significant positive probability to locations where events cannot realistically occur. In particular, when modelling residential burglaries, standard density estimation can predict residential burglaries occurring where there are no residences. Incorporating the spatial data can inform the valid region for the density. When modelling very few events, additional priors can help to correctly fill in the gaps. Learning and enforcing correlation between spatial data and event data can yield better estimates from fewer events. We propose a non-local version of maximum penalized likelihood estimation based on the H 1 Sobolev seminorm regularizer that computes non-local weights from spatial data to obtain more spatially accurate density estimates. We evaluate this method in application to a residential burglary dataset from San Fernando Valley with the non-local weights informed by housing data or a satellite image.

Resumen
It is known that there exist non-local correlations that respect no-signaling criterion, but violate Bell-type inequalities more than quantum-mechanical correlations. Such super quantum correlations were introduced as the Popescu-Rohrlich (PR) box. We consider such non-local boxes with two/three inputs and two/three outputs. We show that these super quantum correlations can lead to signaling when at least one of the input bit has access to a word line along a closed time-like curve.

Resumen
We develop a non-convex optimization approach to correlation clustering using the Frank-Wolfe (FW) framework. We show that the basic approach leads to a simple and natural local search algorithm with guaranteed convergence. This algorithm already beats alternative algorithms by substantial margins in both running time and quality of the clustering. Using ideas from FW algorithms, we develop subsampling and variance reduction paradigms for this approach. This yields both a practical improvement of the algorithm and some interesting further directions to investigate. We demonstrate the performance on both synthetic and real world data sets.

Resumen
Non-Local Attention (NLA) brings significant improvement for Single Image Super-Resolution (SISR) by leveraging intrinsic feature correlation in natural images. However, NLA gives noisy information large weights and consumes quadratic computation resources with respect to the input size, limiting its performance and application. In this paper, we propose a novel Efficient Non-Local Contrastive Attention (ENLCA) to perform long-range visual modeling and leverage more relevant non-local features. Specifically, ENLCA consists of two parts, Efficient Non-Local Attention (ENLA) and Sparse Aggregation. ENLA adopts the kernel method to approximate exponential function and obtains linear computation complexity. For Sparse Aggregation, we multiply inputs by an amplification factor to focus on informative features, yet the variance of approximation increases exponentially. Therefore, contrastive learning is applied to further separate relevant and irrelevant features. To demonstrate the effectiveness of ENLCA, we build an architecture called Efficient Non-Local Contrastive Network (ENLCN) by adding a few of our modules in a simple backbone. Extensive experimental results show that ENLCN reaches superior performance over state-of-the-art approaches on both quantitative and qualitative evaluations.

The purpose of this study is to provide a detailed description of the spatial distribution of tax revenues, non-tax revenues and capital expenditures of the Communes in the Republic of Benin, to analyze the spatial interactions between the Commons and to deduce from them Communes with a strong neighborhood of spatial interaction. The methodological approach consisted in using a database, in the construction of an adjacency matrix that made it possible to conceptualize and take into account the neighborhood links. The degree of spatial dependence is captured from the global and local spatial indices of Moran. The main findings of the study indicate that the tax revenues and capital expenditures of the Commons are characterized by a random distribution. On the other hand, non-tax revenue is spatially self-correlated. However, local spatial analyzes reveal that some municipalities seem to be concentrating above average levels of tax revenue and investment spending in their neighborhoods. In addition, the analyzes revealed that the influence of the urbanization rate on the level of tax revenue, non-tax revenue and investment expenditure is barely perceptible. It is therefore necessary to review a better orientation of local development policies.

During the period of galaxy formation, many small-length-scale perturbations superimposed on high-amplitude large-length-scale perturbations should have their overdensities boosted into the non-linear regime, while small-scale perturbations in other regions remain linear. The formation of the first galaxies in discrete, high overdensity regions may lead to an initial amplitude of the spatial correiatio? function of galaxies, ξ0, much higher than that expected from linear fluctuation theory. This initially high “bias” would consequently decrease to the near-unity values expected from local observations. Such a Decreasing Correlation Period (DCP) is detected in N-body simulations under certain conditions by several authors; Roukema (1993), Brainerd & Villumsen (1994), Roukema et al. (1997) and unpublished simulations by one of us (Yamashita).

Resumen
Abstract The purpose of the paper is to create a method for studying nonlocal stability in the mean and in the mean square of the ship, positioned on the beam of an intensive wind–waves mode, which is based on the use of the correlation theory of random functions close to continuous Markov processes. With the help of this method and the integral formula of event probability, a method for determining the reliability indicator of the ship in respect of the existing wind–waves excitations of the operating area is formed. An example of investigating the nonlinear motion of the ship, determining its local and nonlocal stability in the first approximation of the theory of considered random functions, is given. Such approximation uses correlation theory with models of acting excitations represented by the generalised derivatives of the Wiener process. Moreover, special attention is paid to reflecting the connection of the proposed methods for investigating the ship stability under constantly acting random excitations with the traditional methods of studying ship stability at small and large inclinations. The established connection defines the proposed methods as a development of the traditional methods of ship stability deterministic theory during the transition to its formation in the class of random functions, with the addition to these methods of the missing link of determining the level of reliability of ships towards the acting wind–waves excitations of the operation area.

Resumen
In this paper, we analyze the dynamics of non-local correlations (NLCs) in an anisotropic two-qubit Heisenberg XYZ model under the effect of the phase damping. An analytical solution is obtained by applying a method based on the eigenstates and the eigenvalues of the Hamiltonian. It is observed that the generated NLCs are controlled by the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction, the purity indicator, the interaction with the environment, and the anisotropy. Furthermore, it is found that the quantum correlations, as well as the sudden death and sudden birth phenomena, depend on the considered physical parameters. In particular, the system presents a special correlation: the skew-information correlation. The log-negativity and the uncertainty-induced non-locality exhibit the sudden-change behavior. The purity of the initial states plays a crucial role on the generated nonlocal correlations. These correlations are sensitive to the DM interaction, anisotropy, and phase damping.

Resumen
The mapping between biological genotypes and phenotypes plays an important role in evolution, and understanding the properties of this mapping is crucial to determine the outcome of evolutionary processes. One of the most striking properties observed in several genotype–phenotype (GP) maps is the positive correlation between the robustness and evolvability of phenotypes. This implies that a phenotype can be strongly robust against mutations and at the same time evolvable to a diverse range of alternative phenotypes. Here, we examine the causes for this positive correlation by introducing two analytically tractable GP map models that follow the principles of real biological GP maps. The first model is based on gene-like GP maps, reflecting the way in which genetic sequences are organized into protein-coding genes, and the second one is based on the GP map of RNA secondary structure. For both models, we find that a positive correlation between phenotype robustness and evolvability only emerges if mutations at one sequence position can have non-local effects on the sequence constraints at another position. This highlights that non-local effects of mutations are closely related to the coexistence of robustness and evolvability in phenotypes, and are likely to be an important feature of many biological GP maps.

Resumen
Despite of its higher specificity than Widal-slide test, Widal-tube test is not widely used by medical laboratories because it is not practical and each laboratory has to produce their own antigens. The Laboratory must have sufficient microbiology equipments and reagents to produce antigens. REMEL® provides ‘ready for use’ antigens to perform Widal-tube test. To Compare and correlate Widal-tube test using REMEL® imported antigens and local antigens (produced by lab. Clinical pathology Dr. Soetomo hospital). The samples were tested by Widal-tube test, using REMEL® and local antigens, comparing Salmonella typhi (ST) O antigen, ST H antigen, S. paratyphi (SP) A H antigen, and SP B H antigen for each method, with twofold dilution from 1/40 until 1/1280. The number of samples was 55. The results are defined as pathologic (above cut-off value) and non pathologic (below cut-off value). REMEL® ST O antigen had a significant correlation to local antigens (r = 0.665, p < 0.01). REMEL® ST H antigen also had a significant correlation to local antigen (r = 0.671, p < 0.01), REMEL® SP B H has no significant correlation to local antigen (r = 0.389, p < 0.01). All samples (55) showed negative results (non pathologic) using SPA H local antigen. When using REMEL® SPA H antigen, 51 were non pathologic and 4 were pathologic. Widal-tube test using REMEL® antigens has significant correlation with local antigens so it might be considered to be used for diagnosing typhoid fever.

Resumen
Abstract Cortical pyramidal neurons receive inputs from multiple distinct neural populations and integrate these inputs in separate dendritic compartments. We explore the possibility that cortical microcircuits implement canonical correlation analysis (CCA), an unsupervised learning method that projects the inputs onto a common subspace so as to maximize the correlations between the projections. To this end, we seek a multichannel CCA algorithm that can be implemented in a biologically plausible neural network. For biological plausibility, we require that the network operates in the online setting and its synaptic update rules are local. Starting from a novel CCA objective function, we derive an online optimization algorithm whose optimization steps can be implemented in a single-layer neural network with multicompartmental neurons and local non-Hebbian learning rules. We also derive an extension of our online CCA algorithm with adaptive output rank and output whitening. Interestingly, the extension maps onto a neural network whose neural architecture and synaptic updates resemble neural circuitry and non-Hebbian plasticity observed in the cortex.

Resumen
Abstract INTRODUCTION Molecular subgroups of pediatric medulloblastomas are distinctive in infantile and non-infantile age-groups. METHODS Real-time quantitative PCR based GEP of customized 12 protein-coding genes was performed on 206 FFPE childhood medulloblastoma samples. FISH for MYC amplification, monosomy 6 and sequencing for CTNNB1 exon 3 mutation were done in relevant cases. H&E and reticulin-stained slides were used for histological subtyping. p53-protein immunoreactivity pattern was noted. RESULTS Infantile (n=33) comprised 57.6% SHH-activated (desmoplastic: 73.7%; MBEN: 15.8% and classic: 10.5%), 21.2% group 3 (large cell/anaplastic [LCA]: 28.6% and none were desmoplastic) and 12% group 4. 40% of group 3 patients died of disease and 21% of the SHH-activated (all desmoplastic) had subsequent local recurrence. Non-infantile (n=173) comprised 19.4% WNT-activated, 12.9% SHH-activated (15% classic, 30% desmoplastic, 10% paucinodular), 19.4% group 3 (63.3% classic & 26.7% LCA), 48.4% group 4 (73.3% classic, 5.3% desmoplastic, 10.7% paucinodular & 1.4% LCA), and non-WNT/non-SHH (NWNS), NOS (n=14,9%) and unclassified (n=4,2.6%). None of WNT-activated were desmoplastic/LCA histology. Non-infantile WNT-activated and group 3 MBs showed 90% monosomy 6 & CTNNB1 mutation, and 16.7% MYC-amplification respectively. 17.4% (13% spinal, 4.4% local) WNT-activated, 31% (12.5% local, 18.5% distant [spinal: 12.5%, intracranial:6%]) SHH-activated, 27% (18% both spinal and local, 9% spinal) group 3 and 31.5% (7.4% local, 5.5% intracranial, 11.2% spinal, 7.4% both spinal and local) group 4 showed metastases during follow up. CONCLUSIONS SHH-activated and group 3 are the common infantile subgroups but group 4 is not non-existent in infantile age. No desmoplastic (including paucinodular) histological subtype is of WNT- activated and group 3.

Resumen
The paper presents the results of strain measurement using two methods: videoextensometry (ME46) and digital image correlation (DIC)-ARAMIS. ME46 - allows measuring and monitoring the major and minor strain on a planar surface of a loaded object [1]. Experimental equipment uses a CCD camera for monitoring the process. The software calculates the displacements of contrast dots and subsequently the strain components are obtained. Another method for non-contact measurements is DIC technique; the measurements are done using three-dimensional image correlation system. The system uses two digital high-speed cameras providing a synchronized stereo view of the specimen where speckles are arranged on the surface. The results show the complete strain field during the tests, including details of the strain field when necking develops prior to the failure [2]. Experimental results obtained on ultra high strength automotive steels DP 1000 and 1400M grades during static tensile test are presented in the paper. The outputs of both are deformation maps. Advantages and disadvantages of both methods are compared.

Resumen
The Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) steering is a subtle intermediate correlation between entanglement and Bell nonlocality. It not only theoretically completes the whole picture of non-local effects but also practically inspires novel quantum protocols in specific scenarios. However, a verification of EPR steering is still challenging due to difficulties in bounding unsteerable correlations. In this survey, the basic framework to study the bipartite EPR steering is discussed, and general techniques to certify EPR steering correlations are reviewed.
