Resumen
Online news comments are often confronted with issues of civility and inclusivity, which are sometimes pegged to the anonymity afforded to contributors in those spaces. In this work we study one form of anonymity in online comments that manifests as users changing their display name when they write a given comment. We undertake a predominantly quantitative analysis of how display names are changed across over 4 million comments on the New York Times site. We characterize the extent and nature of name changes on the site, explore the relationship of name changes to topicality and sentiment, and examine how name changes might be used to inform the moderation of online comments.

Resumen
Abstract Although names exist in all languages of the world, their formal and functional manifestations show great diversity. Due to their embeddedness in socio-cultural and historical contexts, an anthropological-linguistic approach that brings together linguistic and cultural facts is required to capture the full meaning of names and naming practices. Overall, names are given to entities of cultural importance and of significance for humans in social life; name usage and name-giving practices reflect social beliefs and cultural values; and their meaning is strongly shaped by cultural and historical contexts. This paper provides a typological, cross-linguistic overview of named entities, kinds of naming practices, and types of meanings associated with names, name giving, and name usage, which are illustrated with numerous examples from Australia, Europe, and Africa. Therefore, it also offers a structural framework for the contributions in this issue.

Resumen
Names are very significant in people’s lives for they reveal historical, social and cultural ideologies of a people. Place names can be said to be an under-utilized resource in historical, social and cultural contexts which, when fully exploited, has much to tell on what people should value. When linguistically analyzing these names, morphological and syntactical aspects usually merge. This study explored the ideological, morphological and syntactic perspectives of the linguistic landscape of Solusi University, specifically focusing on places on the campus, roads, hostels and other important buildings like the library and halls of residents. A critical internal analysis of name-structures was done. The researcher used qualitative research methodology where documents were studied and semi-structured interviews were administered to local elderly people to receive data on names at the university. Findings show that Solusi University names can be classified under the syntagmatic morpho-syntactic category. Again, the naming at the university brought out what can be termed contribution ideology. Most of places were given names of people who significantly contributed to the establishment and development of Solusi (first as a college and later as a university). The structure of these names reveals morphological and syntactical patterns that are worth to be studied. The study recommends people awareness of place names in their locales so that they appreciate what name contributors have done to humanity. People should also study place names for their aesthetic value as well as for their reference to humanity’s social history.

Resumen
The names for 19 genera, 17 subgenera, 150 species and 150 subspecies of Ixodidae described by Paul Schulze, names changed by him after the revision of certain taxa, new ranks for names originally described by other authors, a few lapsus calamorum and some incorrect names ascribed to Schulze by other workers are discussed. Two genera (Cosmiomma and Nosomma) are valid, but most of Schulze’s subgenera are difficult to assess because of the current disarray that prevails at this classificatory level in the Ixodidae. Thirty-six of 150 species names discussed by Schulze are considered valid herein (3 species of Amblyomma, 1 Bothriocroton, 1 Cosmiomma, 6 Dermacentor, 4 Haemaphysalis, 5 Hyalomma, 13 Ixodes, 1 Nosomma and 2 Rhipicephalus), while 28 are valid species epithets that are currently assigned to different genera (e.g., Acarus undatus was formerly classified in the genus Aponomma but is currently known as Bothriocroton undatum). Twenty-nine of these valid species names were authored by Schulze or Schulze & Schlottke. The remaining species names are mostly synonyms or names that are incertae sedis, nomen nudum or lapsus calamorum. The 150 subspecific names are treated as synonyms of valid species or as nomina nuda, nomina dubia, incertae sedis or lapsus calamorum. Many names used by Schulze have been synonymized based on sound systematic research, but the justification for synonymizing other names is occasionally weak. It will be important to take these names into account if, as has already happened, future molecular and morphological studies result in the reinstatement of Schulze names currently considered synonyms. This situation has particular relevance for Amblyomma geoemydae, the Amblyomma marmoreum species complex, Amblyomma testudinarium, Oriental species of Dermacentor, Hyalomma in general, Ixodes arboricola, Ixodes canisuga, Ixodes lividus, Ixodes trianguliceps and Ixodes uriae. In conclusion, the prolific contributions of Paul Schulze have their weak points —the many species and subspecies of Hyalomma described by him are unjustified as is the alleged worldwide distribution of the former genus Aponomma—but his perception of the complexity of the genus Dermacentor (under Indocentor) in the Oriental and Australasian Zoogeographic Regions, as well as his understanding of tick biodiversity in these regions constitute seminal scientific achievements.

Resumen
The article is devoted to the study of the antonyms of nominal word formation in modern English. The problem of word formation as one of the most important ways of enriching and developing a language has attracted and continues to attract the attention of linguists of various theoretical views and different countries. One of the little-studied areas of linguistics is antonymy. The article explores some issues of word formation theory, namely, what place word formation takes in the system of language sciences, what this science operates with, what are its basic units. The problem of compatibility of generating bases with word-forming formants is considered. The main set of affixes that form antonyms is given, a comparative characteristic of each of the word-formation tools in parts of speech (nouns and adjectives) is given, and a final assessment of the productivity of antonymic morphemes in English is given. The theory of matching suffixes V.A. Rudnitskaya and traces the effects of this theory in practice. Knowledge of the theory and methods of word formation and their practical application greatly contributes to the enrichment of the vocabulary based on familiar vocabulary.

Resumen
The last spelled letter often indicates the sex of first names. Most female names end with the last letter a, e, or i. Female names are distinctive and therefore easy to identify because of the small number of predominantly female endings. Most male names end with one of 19 last letters. Two last letters, h and y, occur with similar frequency for both sexes. The cultural tradition of higher status for men contributes to the avoidance of predominantly female last letters for male names. A female name with a predominantly male last letter therefore occurs more often than a male name with a predominantly female last letter. The findings were obtained from the 500 most frequent first names given to males and females in Pennsylvania in 1990.

Resumen
Naming is an integral part of Yorùbá culture. It has an identity effects on the bearers. It is also believed that names control the actions and conducts of the bearers. The Yorùbá film producers are always careful and conversant with the fact that names given to their character must reflect in their characterization because orúkọ ọmọ ní í ro ọmọ ‘name has effects on a child’. The script writer, Mike Bamiloye, uses the name to draw a sketch of the attitudes, behavior and stature of the characters. This study therefore interrogates the socio-semiotic interpretation of names given to selected characters in Yorùbá Christian film, Àbẹ̀joyè. It also examines the names given to individual character, family and town. The paper concludes that the Yorùbá philosophical beliefs in names reflect in the selected Christian movie despite the fact that Christianity abhors traditional beliefs; the cultural aspects cannot be underestimated. The film, Àbẹ̀joyè, which serves as our data source is produced by Mount Zion Film Productions, Nigeria and Flaming Sword Film Productions, Texas in 2020-2023. Bamiloye’s unique and stylish way of naming characters show his dexterity in Yorùbá literature which always portrays and projects her culture through the creative way of assigning name to characters. This study contributes to the existing body of knowledge on Yorùbá Christian film and names among Yorùbá people

Resumen
Abstract This article contributes to the studies of sound symbolism, systematic relationships between sounds and meanings. Specifically, we build on a series of studies conducted within a research paradigm called “Pokémonastics,” which uses the Pokémon universe to explore sound symbolic patterns. Inspired by a study of existing English Pokémon names, two experiments were conducted in which English speakers were provided with pairs of pre-evolution and post-evolution Pokémon characters, the latter of which were larger. The participants were given two name choices whose members were systematically different in some phonological properties. The results show the following sound symbolic patterns to be productive: (1) names with higher segment counts are more likely to be associated with post-evolution characters than names with lower segment counts, (2) names containing [a] are more likely to be associated with post-evolution characters than names containing [i], (3) names containing [u] are more likely to be associated with post-evolution characters than names containing [i], and (4) names containing coronal consonants are more likely to be associated with post-evolution characters than names containing labial consonants. Overall, the current results suggest that phonological considerations come into play when English speakers name new fictional creatures. Implications of the current results for the theories of sound symbolism are discussed throughout the paper.

Resumen
A taxonomic backbone of the Plumbaginaceae is presented and the current state of knowledge on phylogenetic relationships and taxon limits is reviewed as a basis for the accepted taxon concepts. In total, 4,476 scientific names and designations are treated of which 30 are not in the family Plumbaginaceae. The Plumbaginaceae are subdivided in three tribes with 26 genera and 1,179 accepted species. Two subgenera, 17 sections, two subsections and 187 infraspecific taxa are accepted. At the species and infraspecific level 2,782 synonyms were assigned to accepted taxa, whereas 194 names were excluded from the core checklist (i.e., unplaced taxa, infrageneric subdivisions with still uncertain application, names of verified uncertain application, invalid horticultural names, excluded names from other families, other excluded designations, and unresolved names). The EDIT Platform for Cybertaxonomy was utilized as the tool to compile and manage the names and further taxonomic data under explicit taxon concepts. Secundum references are given in case taxon concepts were taken from the literature, whereas this study serves as reference for newly circumscribed taxa. The family’s division into the tribes Aegialitideae, Limonieae, and Plumbagineae departs from earlier two-subfamily classifications, prompted by recent phylogenetic findings that challenge the subfamilial affinity of Aegialitis. The genus Acantholimon was extended to include Gladiolimon, as currently available phylogenetic and morphological data support this merger. In Limonium, all accepted species could be assigned to sections and subsections or the “Mediterranean lineage”, respectively, making use of the phylogenetic distribution of their morphological characters and states. A new combination and/or status is proposed for Dyerophytum socotranum, Limonium thymoides, Limonium × fraternum, Limonium × rossmaessleri, and Limonium sect. Jovibarba. Special attention is given to nomenclatural issues, particularly for Statice nomen ambiguum to resolve the names under accepted names. The use of artificial groupings like “aggregates”, “complexes” and “species groups” in alpha-taxonomic treatments is discussed. The taxonomic backbone will receive continued updates and through the Caryophyllales Taxonomic Expert Network, it contributes the treatment of the Plumbaginaceae for the World Flora Online.

Nguyen, Viet Khoa. "A cross-cultural appraoch to personal naming : given names in the systems of Vietnamese and English". Thesis, University of Sussex, 2010. http://sro.sussex.ac.uk/id/eprint/2479/.

Texto completo
Resumen
Personal names form one of the most important sections in the system of proper names that are traditionally studied within the field of onomastics. Personal names contain history, tradition, culture as well as all characteristic features of each ethnic community. The general aim of this research project is to have a cross-cultural approach to personal naming based on the systems of Vietnamese and English. Due to the broad scope of the topic of personal names, my research focuses on given names only. First of all, to establish a theoretical background, I dwell on onomastic problems with the focus on the semantic characterisation of proper names, and cultural issues in the study of personal names. I then argue that the views on meaning of names espoused by the Millian and Fregean schools can be reconciled, and that as a cultural universal, names convey both denotational and connotational contents but the content of names can only be determined in each specific language community based on clarification of traditional and cultural values embodied in naming process. Next, the thesis approaches Vietnamese and English given names by reviewing their historical and linguistic characteristics and then classifying them into relevant groups and subgroups. The main purpose of these taxonomies is to bring out the topological characteristics of Vietnamese and English given names as well as the naming trends and forces that have formed the two cultures over the past centuries. Finally, I present a comparison and contrast of Vietnamese and English given names covering all the aspects on the basis of which I institutionalise the theoretical reconciliation of Vietnamese and English personal naming systems, and establish that a reconciliation of the two naming systems is possible within a single overarching framework for their theoretical discussion.

By the year 1555, the catholic kingdom of France affronted the settlement of Churches "being reformed according to the Gospel". Being on conflict with many subjects, Catholic and Reformed nevertheless mutually recognize baptism received in the opposite confession. Focusing on the Western synodal provinces, this thesis explores the reality of mutual recognition and the contribution of baptism to the reformed identity. On the one hand, the study concerns texts (Confession of Faith, Church Order, the Baptism's Form, catechisms, sermons) as well as religious controversy. On the other hand, the study examines baptismal practice bu baptism records, consistoty records and synod proceedings, egodocuments and the royal regulation. Where in the beginning the principal tensions concern catholic baptism ceremonies, later on, they cristallize on catholic doctrine of the absolute necessity of baptism for infants' salvation, revealing in the meantime internal discordance amongst the Reformed. The 'ritual' of baptism, according to texts and observational writings reveals a sobre liturgy. The presentation of infants by godparents is submitted to several rules being surveyed by the consistories, which make it contribute to community cohesion. Baptismal records reveal some typical vocabulary and godparent models ; the supposed preference for Old Testament given names could only partially be confirmed. The King used baptism as an instrument to bring the Reformed back to the Catholic faith, before banning it by the edict of Revocation (1685)

This study analyse given and inherited names among the Northern Sotho speaking people in Moletjie and Sekhukhune. The study indicates that names are some of the most important things in people’s lives. It has been indicated that naming cannot be taken for granted as a name serves as an important identity feature. A person without a name is an incomplete person. The study has revealed that the people in Moletjie and Sekhukhune bestow names to people based on ancestors, totems, marriage and initiation schools.

The aim of this study is to investigate cultural values reflected in Chinese given names to see how men and women are valued differently in Chinese society and further find out what are the different sex-role expectations revealed in names. We examine what cultural values are reflected in men’s and women’s given names. Further, we compare different cultural values reflected between men’s and women’s given names to see that there are more cultural values reflected in men’s names than in women’s names. This shows that people have more expectations of men than of women. In comparison of different cultural values reflected between men’s and women’s given names, we find that there are three contrast pairs of sex-role expectations revealed in Chinese given names. The first one is the dominant role of men and the subordinate role of women in the value of Chinese family ethics; the second one is the active role of men and the wealth guarding role of women in the wealth value; and the last one is the strength of men and the tenderness of women in the value of positive personal traits. These different sex-role expectations are generally expected to be complementary to each other in Chinese society.

Resumen
During fieldwork, anthropologists are given many names that point to their intersectional placement regarding race, class, gender, nationality, and religion. Yet, careful consideration of vernacular forms of designation reveals that such generalizing categories do not always reflect the ways in which people are named and positioned in a given context. While acknowledging the relevance of intersectionality, this paper discusses the relationship between naming and social positionality through a comparative consideration of names employed to designate Dulley in Angola and Santos in Senegal. It explores how these designators, ascribed to the researchers by their interlocutors, contextually identify their positionality. Through concrete examples, it shows how this process of emplacement can both enable and restrict one’s possibilities of action and experience.

Resumen
The current study investigates the use of a person’s name in Japanese and Korean. A name is the first appellation given to an individual, and functions not only to identify and address them, but also to establish and maintain everyday interactions. In many languages, a name can typically be either a given name or family name only, or both in full, and each form of a name (i.e., given name, family name or full name) may function differently from language to language. The current study aims to explore the differences between Japanese and Korean in terms of the distribution of different forms of names, and the social functions and pragmatic effects of these forms. Based on the analysis of three Japanese TV drama series and their Korean remake versions, the study shows that, in terms of frequency, Japanese can be characterised as a “family name” language whereas Korean can be characterised as a “full name” language. The study also demonstrates that there are differences in the use of family names and full names between the two languages.

Resumen
Abstract What does care in music education look like when band directors make efforts to know their student musicians (who), beyond ensemble repertoire selections (what)? This narrative about two high school band directors explores teachers’ desires to reach beyond repertoire selection in an effort to know the Asian or Asian American students who participate in their concert and marching band programs. Particular attention is given to how these teachers have developed awareness of their Asian students’ names, and how that awareness aligns with intercultural sensitivity. Participants agreed that it is vital to know students’ names as a form of intercultural sensitivity whereby all learners are recognized and visible as human beings, not viewed merely as sonic contributors to band ensemble sound.

Resumen
This chapter analyses the Alfavitnij ukazatel' plat'elshchikov obshchinnogo zbora za 1912 god (Alphabetical List of Payers of the Communal Tax for 1912). The Alphabetical List of Payers begins with a list of the names of the sixteen members of the Jewish community council who were absolved from paying contributions to the kehilah but gave them voluntarily. The list of those required to pay is in alphabetical order and contains the names of 11,417 heads of Warsaw's Jewish families, each payer's occupation or source of income, his address, the value of the contribution, and the person's registration number in the Warsaw Jewish commune. The amount of the annual contribution is given in silver roubles and the registration number is marked ‘sta'tja’. The chapter shows how approaching the Alphabetical List of Payers statistically reveals many analytical possibilities, and on the basis of this information, it should be possible to describe in detail the economic situation of Warsaw's Jewish bourgeoisie.

Bedette, Kathryn. "A Turning Point in the Study of Eileen Gray’s Modern Architecture". En 108th Annual Meeting Proceedings. ACSA Press, 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.35483/acsa.am.108.77.

Resumen
A full analysis of Eileen Gray’s approach to architecture and design is now necessary for any thorough presentation and discussion of modern architecture, specifically in architecture history textbooks. This argument is based on three main points. One, Gray’s work was initially omitted from surveys and the modern “canon” because she was a woman. Two, scholarship has reached a turning point in both the attribution of her work and in the discussion of its historical importance. And three, her work provides case studies for student learning that expose key contributions to the discourse on modernity not offered by other architects at the time. While Joseph Rykwert argued for the significance of Gray’s work in 1971, a review of thirteen history of architecture survey texts avail¬able through 2019 shows only six mentioning Eileen Gray or her work. The number implies a largess that doesn’t actually exist. In one case only her last name is given in a footnote. In another two, her name is only included within a list of other names. It’s time to make room for her architecture and design positions in how we talk about modern architecture in our histories, anthologies, surveys and sources: in our textbooks and course readers. What’s at stake is the canon. And it’s time for Eileen Gray.

Resumen
Identifiers are one of the most important sources of domain information in software development. Therefore, it is recognized that the proper use of names directly impacts the code's comprehensibility, maintainability, and quality. Our goal in this work is to expand the current knowledge about names by considering not only their quality but also their contextual similarity. To achieve that, we extracted names of four large scale open-source projects written in Java. Then, we computed the semantic similarity between classes and their attributes/variables using Fasttext, an word embedding algorithm. As a result, we could observe that source code, in general, preserve an acceptable level of contextual similarity, developers avoid to use names out of the default dictionary (e.g., domain), and files with more changes and maintained by distinct contributors tend to have better a contextual similarity.

Resumen
Since antiquity names have been very important to people. Naming from the past to the present has been continuously developed and has evolved into a variety of patterns. Each pattern has its own rules depending on local belief and language that has been developed until the present. In many cultures naming is not only important because every individual needs to have a name but have helpful names or names with a good sound. The basic goal of naming in Thai society is to provide a good fortune and progress of living. Most Thai parents try to choose names they feel will bring good luck to their offspring and to the family. The choice of appropriate names is based on old rules of Thai astrology according to weekday of birth, and the rules of available letters can influence the destiny of the individuals as is described in Thai astrology, since it uses the day of birth as an input. Thais can change their own given names as often as they want in order to achieve a good fortune. The current web based systems for Thai names are static web pages and cannot deal with the problem of helping change a name to a good name with similar sound.

Texto completo
Resumen
By indicating a connection between tradition and modernity, names offer a clear image of the past and the present. Names mirror the particularities of individuals’ lives, on the one hand, and the life of the communities, on the other. The aim of this study is to analyse the way in which first names given by people in the Land of Chioar were influenced by multiculturalism, mostly associated with religion, ethnicity and the onomastic fashion at the time of naming. Therefore, a strong impact can be observed in the case of baptismal names (given during the ceremony of baptism) as a result of the phenomena that took place in the history of the Romanian language, especially after 1989, when the Romance influence was strongly felt in the Land of Chioar. Using the first names recorded in the civil registries of the Land of Chioar (a multi‑ethnic and multi‑confessional region), this research is, in fact, a synchronic and diachronic analysis of first names, emphasizing the way in which name givers’ attitudes subscribe to the global trend.

Resumen
Jewish anecdotes reflect the changes over the course of history that have occurred in Bohemia and Moravia in the field of personal names of local Jews. Unlike the rest of the population, Jews could not freely choose any given names, as they were restricted by an official list (1788–1867). After a short period of freedom, another list of permitted names was brought by the Nazi regime (1938). Jewish anecdotes comment on the choice, the use, and changes of names as well as on the names themselves. They represent an important historical and documentary source.

Resumen
Mainstream systems for Answer Set Programming implement intelligent grounding to eliminate object variables from the input program, often obtaining a propositional program of reasonable size. However, non-stratified negation may inhibit the simplification of some rule bodies due to the lack of knowledge on the truth of recursive atoms. Frustration is greatest when the program is clearly locally stratified, such as in case of numerical arguments in rule heads obtained by increasing some body arguments; common examples are minimal distances in graphs and time arguments in planning scenarios. This paper suggests to move some arguments in predicate names, so that the declarative semantics of Answer Set Programming is preserved, but non-stratified negation is possibly avoided thanks to symbolic rule instantiation. A proof of concept is given in terms of Jinja templates for arguments with a clear range.

: Politicians are, probably more than other public figures, under the critical eye of the media and of their political opponents. These entities condemn politicians’ behaviour, language or decisions by giving them various nicknames. The newly coined nicknames sometimes include terms from other languages, thereby enhancing the mocking character of the names. Our approach will focus on identifying the linguistic motivation of the nicknames containing terms borrowed from other languages, as well as the social and contextual factors that triggered their coinage. The theoretical perspective proposed is interdisciplinary, supported by functional linguistics, pragmatics and anthroponymy.

Resumen
Onomastics (Greek onomastics - the art of naming) is a branch of linguistics that studies various nouns, the history of their appearance and change, as well as a collection of all nouns. In some studies, the term "Onomastics" is also used in the meaning of anthroponymy. Onomastics is aimed at identifying and studying non-existent onomastic systems. Onomastics consists of the following sections according to the categories of the objects that received the names: anthroponymics - names of people; toponymy - popular names of geographical objects; theonymics - the names of gods, goddesses, religious-mythical figures and beings according to various religious ideas; zoonymics - (conditional) nouns given to animals; phytonymics - names related to the world of plants, cosmonymics - the names of space regions, galaxies, constellations and others that are spread in scientific communication and internationally; astronomy - studies the names of individual astronomical bodies (planets and stars). Apart from the above, onomastics has several branches. Onomastics includes real names (names of previously existing objects) and phonemes (names of imaginary objects).

Please download the revised version LTCS-00-04 containing revised proofs of the technical results. An abridged version of this report appeared in the Proceedings of the International Conference on Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (KR'2000). The problem of rewriting a concept given a terminology can informally be stated as follows: given a terminology T (i.e., a set of concept definitions) and a concept description C that does not contain concept names defined in T , can this description be rewritten into a 'related better' description E by using (some of) the names defined in T ? In this paper, we first introduce a general framework for the rewriting problem in description logics, and then concentrate on one specific instance of the framework, namely the minimal rewriting problem (where 'better' means shorter, and 'related' means equivalent). We investigate the complexity of the decision problem induced by the minimal rewriting problem for the languages FL0, ALN, ALE, and ALC, and then introduce an algorithm for computing (minimal) rewritings for the languages ALE and ALN. Finally, we sketch other interesting instances of the framework. Our interest for the minimal rewriting problem stems from the fact that algorithms for non-standard inferences, such as computing least common subsumers and matchers, usually produce concept descriptions not containing defined names. Consequently, these descriptions are rather large and hard to read and comprehend. First experiments in a chemical process engineering application show that rewriting can reduce the size of concept descriptions obtained as least common subsumers by almost two orders of magnitude.

Resumen
The main objective of the study is to reveal the functional parameters of anthroponyms in the media texts. Methods of investigation: the method of media texts monitoring, the comparative method; the method of contextual analysis, the methods of functional analysis. Results. Anthroponyms in media texts contribute to the exact reproduction of facts, the display of a certain time-space. The use of an anthroponym in the media gives its bearer greater social significance; silencing an anthroponym demonstrates a desire to remove its bearer from the public agenda. Anthroponyms can reflect person’s social connections, inform about a belonging to a certain national, ethnic, age, social group. Conclusions Anthroponyms give media text more credibility, because they inform about a specific person in specific realities, personalize information. Anthroponyms are capable to mark time-space, therefore the actualization of proper names can be a means of transferring to another time, informing about forgotten historical facts and persons. Given the ability of anthroponyms – the names of famous persons – to be reduced, the journalist should take into account the possible difficulties of identifying such a person in a different time-space or under the condition of insufficient recognition. Entering the language game, anthroponyms are actualizing simultaneously meanings associated with different time-spaces, such ability can be effectively used to draw historical or cultural parallels, create an expressive load. Given the ability of anthroponyms to increase or decrease social status, journalists should be responsible in the selection of proper names as part of the factual material of the media text. Marking through anthroponyms the connection with national, social, age groups makes these words unique identifiers of the division into “own” or “strangers”, demonstrates the attitude of the speaker towards the bearer of his own name. Significance. The revealed functional parameters of anthroponyms as part of the actual material of the media text provide journalists with ample opportunities for the implementation of various communicative tasks. Key words: media text, anthroponym, factual material, language picture of the world, time-space, social communications.

Resumen
"You are what you eat." It's a familiar expression, but do youhave any idea how true it is? Food does a lot more than simply nourish our bodies; it's an essential part of who we are. When we gather together to produce, prepare, and consume food, we are part of a community. The passing down of food traditions from generation to generation helps form our very identity. One of the best ways to learn about the history of different places and cultures is to eat the local food. How people eat shows us how they've adapted to the geographical and climatic conditions in their region. The same food may have different names, uses, and methods of preparation in different places, depending on local traditions and needs as well as local geography and agricultural practices. Over the centuries, these differences have given rise to a wide range of traditional regional dishes, recipes, and cooking styles, some of which remain favorites.

Resumen
In February 2023, the wolf population was likely composed of 31 wolves. This is a slight increase from last year’s estimate of 28 wolves (Fig. 1). The wolf population includes an East Pack with 11 wolves, a West Pack with five wolves, three groups of at least three wolves each, and several other wolves that are either loners or only loosely affiliated with one of the smaller groups. There is evidence that pups were born into three, possibly four, litters in April 2022. For context, no litters are thought to have been born between 2015 and 2018. However, following the translocation of wolves to Isle Royale between 2018 and 2019, one litter was born in 2019, two litters were born in both 2020 and 2021, and possibly four litters were born in 2022. Thus, the reproductive success of the wolf population has steadily increased over the last five years. The per-capita kill rate, which is an indication of the rate that wolves acquire food, was 0.52 moose per wolf per month. That rate is somewhat lower than last year’s estimate of 0.71, but similar to what is expected given the number of wolves and moose currently on the island. The estimated abundance of moose is 967, which is a 28 percent decline from last year’s estimate of 1,346. Longer-term population trends suggest that the moose population had increased greatly over an eight-year period (2011-2019) but then started to decline rapidly over the last few years. The proportion of the moose population that is newly recruited individuals (i.e., nine-month-old calves in February) was 1.7 percent, which is very low compared to the long-term average. Predation rate was estimated to be 10 percent, which is similar to last year’s estimate and close to the long-term average. While predation and low recruitment were important contributors to the moose decline, starvation also played an important role.

Review question / Objective: Following the COVID-19 global outbreak, Long Covid is currently the most urgent global health problem. Primary clinical research have produced widely varying findings demonstrating the protective and even counterproductive effects of immunization against extended Covid. We used a systematic review and meta-analysis to examine the impact of pre- and post-Covid immunization for the prevention of extended Covid. Condition being studied: The main result is whether long Covid is present or absent, which is determined by whether one or more long Covid symptoms have persisted for more than three weeks following infection. The secondary result is whether or not each unique long-term Covid symptom is present. ICD10-CM was used to classify and define symptoms since research utilized several names for the same symptom. To ensure validity, we only examined long-lasting Covid symptoms mentioned in three or more research. We asked the authors of publications that merely provided information on the presence or absence of extended Covid to provide information on specific symptoms. We also wanted data that was stratified by the number of vaccine doses for studies that pooled data from pre-Covid vaccinations given in 1-dose and 2-dose regimens.

Ukiwe y McDonnell. L52362 Assessing the Performance of Above Ground Coating Evaluation Surveys. Chantilly, Virginia: Pipeline Research Council International, Inc. (PRCI), noviembre de 2012. http://dx.doi.org/10.55274/r0010686.

Texto completo
Resumen
The primary application area for above ground coating evaluation (AGCES) methods is for unpiggable pipelines. For several reasons, however, AGCES methods are not necessarily limited along these narrow lines. For instance, most ILI tools are incapable of identifying external corrosion (which resulted from coating damage overtime) until the wall loss damage has reached the measurable detection threshold of the ILI tool. Thus, even for piggable pipelines, AGCES methods still come in handy for pipeline integrity. In fact, the most proactive approach for pipeline corrosion integrity management for the future will include complementary surveys, such as ECDA and ICDA, all super-imposed and integrated on a common GIS framework for comparative and comprehensive data analysis. Within the pipeline industry there exist divergent views about the AGCES methods, their principles of operation, and limitations. An important defining point about AGCES methods is simple this: they are indirect inspection methods for identifying and classifying external coating damage; they are not - and should not be - tied to the functionalities of any specific proprietary tools or hardware manufactures. The second statement requires further qualification. Confusion is often created among users of AGCES methods when the names of certain coating survey tool are interchanged with the specific survey methods in question. For instance, company A manufactures a device C for detecting coating anomalies. The tendency within the industry is to call the coating survey method such names as "C Survey" or "C Coating Survey". The problem created in this instance is to limit AGCES methods to what device C can capture; the quality of the data become handicapped by that of device C. Industry standards have been created to avoid the fore-going pitfalls. Hence, rather than limit survey methods to the specifications of a given proprietary tool, attempts should be made to manufacture and design tools to meet industry standards. The result will be uniformity of methodology, the only distinctions being speed of data acquisition, methods of data analysis, and possibly, other subtle differences in technological advancements. Included in this distinction is the use of analog versus digital data acquisition methods. Of course, all that has been described so far assumes that the industry standards referenced captures all the details of an effective coating evaluation survey method, including known and even perceived limitations.
