Texto completoThe dynamics of local appropriation are a major issue in national policies of cultural democratization. In this thesis, we seek to understand how the inhabitants of a post-industrial area, in this case, the mining basin of Nord-Pas-de-Calais in France, represent and appropriate a museum offer. More specifically, this research focuses on the case of the Louvre-Lens Museum and the development of a cultural offer for a population mainly from the working classes. Our research is inspired by the work of Maurice Halbwachs, to highlight the influence of representations and values on the behaviors of individuals and their appropriation of the museum offer. To this end, we have adopted a set of qualitative methods, including long interviews with local residents and local cultural actors, participant observation, as well as the collection of media archives. Our interpretative analysis shows different dynamics of appropriation of the museum offer: the development and reinforcement of a collective memory based on the mining past; the process of desacralization of the Louvre-Lens, in particular through its spatial dimension; and finally, the co-construction of a proximity between the museum and the local population. This work concludes with a discussion on the dynamic dimension of the consumption of cultural activities, as well as the challenges and limits of Place Branding strategies. This discussion leads to the formulation of recommendations for cultural organizations as well as public authorities wishing to develop a cultural offer in a post-industrial area

Texto completoWe have examined three areas which relate to the symptomatology of "outcast" families : social, family, and individual. Although lack of social and psychic integration seems central to the problem of "wandering" : geographical, amorous, and language-related, best describes the behaviour of their children in institutions. Paradoxical narcissistic functioning characterizes many outcast families. Utopian logic, driven by social decision-makers is although present in the logic of wandering. Outcasts of families attempt to "be a family" in the midst of rupture, trauma and secrets -elements harmful to the "genealogical family envelope" and which engrave themselves in the body (family and individual). We think that the symptom is a sort of mosaic, as it, to an extent, the construction of a subject's identity. In a individual, the symptom is a condensation of genealogical symptomatology by partial identifications with symptoms in anterior generations. In our approach the symptom is the fruit of transgenerational transmission. From a psychotherapeutic point of view, curbing the problem of repetition and vicious circle gripping these families, rests on the capacity of a place, an institutional framework, and a therapeutic framework, to promote projects which favour commitment to real and psychic places, by re-weaving the family history of the subject. Setting up family interviews in a children's home seemed particularly promising. By restoring narcissistic security at the base, it allowed the families concerned to gain access to talking

Texto completoThis research aims to understand what leads social workers to use artistic practices in the context of their professional time. In concrete terms, some will, for example, sing, play music, use visual or dramatic arts with people in social difficulties, or suffering from mental or physical disabilities. This is from a return on the history of social work that this study’s theoretical path was built. Indeed, during time, this field has undergone several mutations. If it becomes more or more professionalized, it has mostly gone from a rationalization based on philanthropic values to a rationalization based on results and targets, changing drastically values on which social workers have built their professional practices, and creating a « disenchantment of social work ». On the basis of theoretical contributions that define art as a way to escape from rationalization of the world, our hypothesis is that artistic practices participate in the « re-enchantment of social work ». However, if they do change relationships between social workers and users, artistic practices also reveal that these professionals tend to change and to adapt themselves to the new conditions of social work, trying in first instance to be fulfilled professionally and especially have « a time for themselves » with users within their professional time

Texto completoTo reduce social inequalities in health, the High Council of Public Health recommends measure precisely compare between different regions or countries, and track changes over time. The mechanisms underlying social inequalities in participation in organized screening for breast and colorectal cancer are unknown. The objective was to analyze the environmental impact of socioeconomic status and healthcare supply on participation in organized screening for these cancers with an ecological deprivation index, the French version of EDI. This work presents the construction of this adaptable European transnational index. EDI is composed of census variables that best reflect the individual experience of relative deprivation. The study on the comparison of eight indices as to their assessment of deprivation at the individual level, showed that the performance of EDI were similar to those of the British indices. Using EDI, our studies have shown that in the most deprived areas, participation in screening for breast and colorectal cancer was reduced by 13% and 25% compared to the least deprived areas. No influence of the healthcare supply as measured by the presence or absence of general practitioners or certified radiologists were found. Social inequalities in screening could be reduced by combining individual interventions and geographical approaches targeted at populations at risk of low participation socially identified, emphasizing the superiority of organized screening on individual testing and advocating the involvement of general practitioners

Texto completoUnder the rule of law, all citizens are considered equal. But French legislators consider that some of them must receive increased protection because civil capacity does not enable them to see to their own interests. These individuals are classified in three categories depending on their incapacity, defencelessness or vulnerability. Minors under eighteen years of age who cannot by themselves carry out all of the acts of civil life. Individuals who do not, or no longer hold the power to exert acts of civil life by themselves, i. E. The physically or mentally disabled and the old, dependent or confused persons whom the law sees as incapable of self-care or vulnerable. Consumers which Consumption Law sees as at a disadvantage in term of purchases they make, as lay persons, from professional providers of goods and services. In view of the wide range of persons concerned by these protective laws, we have focused our research work on the protection of whoever may be vulnerable. In a rather extensive approach, we have studied the protection the Courts offer to vulnerable persons, both minors and adults, as well as to persons at a disadvantage in transactions involving goods or services whatever the worth of such transactions. We have compared the penalties the law provides with those actually imposed by courts on persons convicted of offences in the areas under study, also few cases actually come to trial. Then we studied the contribution of International and European Law to French Law, as well that brought by case law. And last, we have sought to determine whether there is consistence in the Acts destined to protect such diverse categories of individuals as those studied herein. This has induced us to reflect upon a real strengthening of Contract Law – a part of Civil Code – possibly to the detriment of Consumption Law

Texto completoThis research examines social representations of exclusion and, in particular, the homeless. These representations have been analysed according to their historical and genetic dimensions. They have been understood as the product, constantly renewed, of our cultural matrixes of interpretation which order our perception of the world. The first part of this work presents the theoretical approach of the problematic and formulates the driving hypothesis. The second part examines scientific, usual and information set forth regarding exclusion and extracts an image of the homeless person. The third part consists of an historical vision. From labelling and social control theory, the portrait of homeless became clearer. Vagabond or homeless, the person is fit into a framework of norms perception of the excluded and the homeless in the press based on two events. The media's role has been that of an echo of collective representations. Finally, based on interviews with the homeless, we searched for the echo of the collective expression in the expression of the individual. The presence of this echo reveals to us the existence of a cultural matrix associating aimlessness and deviance. Moreover, this matrix feeds negative representations of the homeless considered as guilty of chronic non-adaptation and not as victim of the economic crisis

Texto completoThe object of this thesis is to examine the social crisis in urban life in the United States and the changes that have occurred during the recent years, resulting in the increase of the gap between different categories of the population and in the apparition of new social tensions. The evolution of social, economic and political conditions is analyzed and how they6 have generated since the past three decades a greater marginalization of the lower classes, especially among the ethnic minorities. In this study, different social issues - as poverty, racism, immigration and urban violence - are discussed in order to better understand the complexity of the American society

Texto completoHomeless people should be considered as genuine actors in our society. Only in such a way it is possible to take into account the life of these citizens as far as access to health and health is concerned. The fact is that we cannot improve health and health care without the total involvement of those who are concerned. Indeed these people do not ask for health care or do it too late. Similarly the health care professionals misunderstand this category of peolple and subsequently fail to recognize their real needs. Therefore a working relationship between the homeless and the health care professionals becomes a reality only when the images the homeless have about their own health, diseases and bodies are taken into account. From this experience we also gain the means to improve the health care offered. There can be no real access to health care as long as the health care services do not take into consideration the specific needs of the homeless

Texto completoSince franchise become universal, there is a legal egality between all citizens. But the acces to franchise steal depends on several legal conditions which are : citizenship and/or residence and capacity. As one condition is missing, nationals and aliens can only access to part of the rights of citizenship. To remedy of citizenship division, european states trye to insert people with disabilities into the political society. First they can insert people who can't access in full citizenship by changing their personnal situation. They can also trye to find a universal new political project which is able to insert in the political society new social categories. We must trye to know if this new political project is realy able to insert people or if it is just a new way of exclusion upon the pretext of creating a new political project

Texto completoTitle: How to optimise healthcare and limit the impact of social deprivation for patients with anxiety or depressive disorders in primary care? Introduction: In France, mental disorders are widely prevalent, and affect particularly the most socioeconomically deprived patients. Healthcare management of these precarious patients is also less efficient. Difficulties include the healthcare management of these patients and access to specialised healthcare (psychiatrists, psychologists). Objective: The aim of the work carried out is i) to define the optimal management of anxiety or depressive disorders in primary care, ii) to assess the impact of social deprivation on psychotropic drug prescriptions, and iii) to implement tools to optimise management and limit the impact of social deprivation in these patients. Results: Systematic metareviews were conducted to determine the best practices for managing common mental disorders in primary care. They were used in order to define evaluation criteria for epidemiological studies performed to determine compliance with validated scientific data in the outpatient management of precarious patients with mental disorders. A significant influence of precariousness on inappropriate healthcare management in primary care of patients exposed to psychotropic drugs was shown. The little recourse to non-pharmacological therapies for sleep disorders was highlighted in the department of Haute-Garonne. These findings emphasised the need for actions to enhance patients' management by GP. Firstly, the website psychotropes.fr has been created to provide a tool to help GP with the management of patients encountering a mental health problem. It was created on the basis of the meta-reviews from which healthcare management algorithms have been designed. Secondly, a clinical trial has been proposed to the French Health Insurance to evaluate the efficiency of an experimentation of the reimbursement of psychotherapy for mental health disorders. Conclusion: A clinical trial evaluating the impact of the Psychotropes.fr website on the healthcare management of mental health issues by GP is to be carried out. The research protocol evaluating the reimbursement of psychotherapy was ranked second. This programme was extended to the whole country in 2022, but the adherence of the healthcare professionals is problematic. A collaborative research approach to assess the needs of the various professionals involved, as well as those of patients, could contribute to improving the programme's efficiency
Paugam, Serge. "La disqualification sociale : statuts, identités et rapports sociaux des populations en situation de précarité économique et sociale". Paris, EHESS, 1988. http://www.theses.fr/1988EHES0023.
Texto completoThis thesis aims at studying "poverty" as a socially recognized condition and the "poors" as a group of people whose social status is partly defined by specialized social institutions which define them as such. The theme of social disqualification, such as it is dealt with here, is linked to the logic of designation and labelling and to the effects of this logic on the identity of people. This research was meant to show that : 1) the social actors dealt with play a role, at least a partial one, in the constitution and redefinition of their social identity by more or less accepting the social roles which fit their objective social condition and their status; 2) a certain autonomy enables them to individually negociate their inferiority or their social failure (but the "poors" hold always a degraded social position); 3) they establish, sometimes with the help of social workers, sub-hierarchies within the places they live in or within the groups they belong to

Texto completoThe doctoral thesis presents and proposes interpretations of results obtained in experimental investigations centred on a kind of social practices : the practices of social work, and articulated with theoretical framework issued of social cognitive psychology. The main concepts of social cognitive psychology were used : categorization, prototypical construction, implicit personality theories, illusory correlation, systematic distortion, attribution, explanation of reinforcements and psychologization. The analysis of these cognitive processes in social workers's practices did not give opposite results to those obtained when the processes are studied in the conception of "man as scientist". But it was shown that the effects are dependant of other factors. Their importance is due to the kind of people' social implications with analyzed informations. The analysis of results shows that there were normativ and ideological effects of cognitive processes in social work. These results reinforce a socio-cognitive conception of "man as ideologic"

Texto completoFor more than fifty years, Colombia has experienced an internal conflict with broad repercussions affecting the entire country. This conflict, opposing the government and the main guerilla group in the country, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, People's Army (FARC-ep), has resulted in the displacement of a large number of people, living in rural areas or in precarious situations. There are many flaws in the implementation of the peace agreements signed in2016, both from an economic, political and social point of view. Apart from the fact that the sustainability of the communities of FARC-ep veterans is uncertain, it is possible to observe that the civilian populations also find themselves victims of the failure of the agreements since these were also intended to be beneficial to them. The question this research attempts to answer is: How can the vulnerable population groups in Colombia participate in their own sustainable settlement at the level of their community, environments and individuals? Analysis methods field data in the Caribe region include discourse and content analysis. The analysis enabled to understand, at least in part, that national and subnational government bodies fail, due to a lack of involvement, decentralization of power and the desire to promote citizen participation, to put in place the democratic foundations for the maintenance of peace and the reintegration of ex-combatants into the fabric of Colombian rural and urban society.

Texto completoThis research on two singular popular Universities attempts to analyze in depth the effects of the pedagogies used by these two popular Universities. Inspired by three pedagogues, for the popular University of Paris VIII (U2p8): Paulo Freire, Henri Desroche and Célestin Freinet and for the Fourth World People's University: Paulo Freire, Saül Alinsky and Danilo Dolci, the characteristics of these approaches are analyzed and crossed. Paulo Freire represents a common point in the pedagogical approach of the two popular Universities, his life, his works, his ideas are therefore particularly highlighted here. The U2p8 uses life stories, writing workshops with the help of a tutor and postgraduate research methods; the Fourth World People's University uses the experience of participants in extreme poverty to build emancipatory knowledge, which enables society to recognize their identity. The individual and collective dimensions are different in the two popular Universities. By inscribing these two popular Universities in a historical context, we see how these two popular Universities use the experience, although different in certain points, several points bring them together. The feedback from the participants allowed us to see the effects produced by these two popular Universities, particularly on the relationship to knowledge. A multireferential point of view will allow us to analyze the two popular Universities in five perspectives

Texto completoIt is commonly admitted that cultural practices are reserved to the most educated groups of society. The accessibility of culture is often dependent upon written word, and therefore excludes iIliterate members of the population. At the same time, for many years specialists have been working towards fighting illiteracy aiming at making the learning of basic knowledge easier. The following problem has been at the centre of our survey : do cultural development practices within the context of training involve positive results in the relearning of basic knowledge ? If they do, which ones do we notice? How can we analyse and understand the results ? We have tried to compare the representations of the learners-trainees and those of the specialists within the social, educational and cultural fields. We have therefore referred to a theoretical framework dealing with iIIiteracy and culture. Are there any cultural practices particularly those related to written work evident among people with limited schooling or unskilled people? Are these practices taken into account by staff when training adults ? What do learners-trainees think of the value of such cultural practices as demonstrated by the teaching staff? Is there a knock-on effect in terms of developing a different attitude towards written work, construction of self-identity and integration into the fabric of society?

Texto completoThe "behaviour disorders" topic is a triple perspective subject, with social, legal and clinical approaches, that necessarily interrogate the concepts of norms (social, legal, of health) and normality. In order to limit usual considerations on the biological determinisms in the etiology of behaviour disorders, this study will focus on the main socioeconomic and cultural causes, in order to establish that the correlation with the disadvantaged socioeconomic environment is not a matter of fate. This study postulates indeed there is a strong correlation between behaviour disorders and unprivileged background, which can lead to a failure of the family environment, with educational and emotional deficiencies, sources of an "acquired vulnerability" favouring the acting out which, between "deviance", "delinquency" and "pathology", may be considered as "conduct and behaviour disorders" (TCC).While the multiplicity of risk factors does not allow causal simplifications, a clinical approach to the social tends nevertheless to establish that these "disorders" also result from the state of our civilization, and more particularly from the "dissolution of the social link", cause and effect of the symptoms. A narcissistic vulnerability which is not unrelated to a societal vulnerability inherent to the economic model of free market based on the denial of otherness, that is an "impulsive capitalism" (Stiegler) which maintains the cult of insatiability and unlimited enjoyment, engendering the isolation of the individual and the disintegration of society. Where from the interest of an educational shape convenient to the emancipation of a subject capable "to do work of himself," (Pestalozzi) but also capable to join a collective history that precedes him.The approach joins in a modern dialectic affiliated to the psychoanalysis, as a method of access to the exercise of the "complex thought" (Morin), towards an analytical social psychology in the lineage of the School of Frankfurt. It is thus a question, as Jacques Pain says following François Tosquelles, "to walk on two legs" (Marx and Freud), up to the point of dead end of this "Real impossible" (Lacan), which opens the way to indecision because he does not allow to formalize simultaneously these two different realities: material and psychic

Texto completoThe Saint-Roch district of Quebec City is marked by a process of revitalization, a societal mix,and diverse social challenges. This qualitative research aims to explore and understand a local intervention which is deployed there and aims to improve cohabitation between the various social groups. This is the job of the agent.e de mixité. This thesis aims to answer the following research question : How is the function of the agent.e de mixité negotiated at the intersection of the perceptions of social actors concerned by the challenges brought about by the context of revitalization of the Saint-Roch district and their expectations for this function? The theoretical framework of the research is based on constructivism and is more precisely inscribed in symbolic interactionism. Data collection was carried out with seven participants from five social groups: citizens, citizens living in poverty, community workers, traders, and workers in an institution. The results allow us to understand their perceptions of the challenges present in the context of revitalization and social mix of the district such as cohabitation, gentrification, marginalization, and judiciarisation. It also allows understanding of their expectations regarding the function, position, and skills of the agent.e de mixité. Subsequently, the results of these individual interviews were presented to a group of 12 people involved with the Projet Vie de parvis. The discussions during this meeting shed light on the dimensions of the function of the agent.e de mixité which are negotiated at the intersection of these different expectations and perceptions such as temporality, outlines, scope, and extent of function. All content has been compiled and analyzed using Dedoose.

Texto completoA buzzword broadcasted by international agencies, the concept of “development with identity” refers to a willingness to take into account local and cultural specificities of indigenous peoples. It entails a promotion of the development approach, presented as both universal and apolitical. This thesis proposes to explore this contradiction. Focusing on the Mexican case, it aims to understand how development apparatuses function as instruments of knowledge, but also as performative instruments by their prescriptive inductions and the social uses they are made of. Finally, “development with identity” refers to an “art of government” of populations labeled as socially disqualified. It relies on two key components: the elaboration of a specific knowledge on these populations and the participation of indigenous individuals and groups in development apparatuses. This thesis proposes a sociological contribution to the analysis of development and works on indigenous issues. In order to study the circulation of development speeches, instruments and practices, this work is based on a political ethnography of three spaces in which the apparatuses of indigenous development in Mexico are elaborated, formulated and put into practice: the Office of the United Nations Development Program in Mexico, the national authority in charge of development public policy for indigenous peoples, and finally social groups in the region of Chiapas in which development apparatuses are developed and implemented
