Resumen
Multimedia services over mobile networks present several challenges, such as ensuring a reliable delivery of multimedia content, avoiding undesired service disruptions, or reducing service latency. HTTP adaptive streaming addresses these problems for multimedia unicast services, but it is not efficient from the point of view of radio resource consumption. In Long-Term Evolution (LTE) networks, multimedia broadcast services are provided over a common radio channel using a combination of forward error correction and unicast error recovery techniques at the application level. This paper discusses how to avoid service disruptions and reduce service latency for LTE multimedia broadcast services by adding dynamic adaptation capabilities to the unicast error recovery process. The proposed solution provides a seamless mobile multimedia broadcasting without compromising the quality of the service perceived by the users.

Digital multimedia broadcasting is available in more and more countries with various forms. One of the most successful forms is Digital Video Broadcasting for Terrestrial (DVB-T), which has been deployed in most countries of the world for years. In order to bring the digital multimedia broadcasting services to battery-powered handheld receivers in a mobile environment, Digital Video Broadcasting for Handheld (DVB-H) has been formally adopted by ETSI. More advanced and complex digital multimedia broadcasting systems are under development, for example, the next generation of DVB-T, a.k.a. DVB-T2. Current commercial DVB-T/H receivers are usually built upon dedicated application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs). However, ASICs are not flexible for incoming evolved standards and less overall-area efficient since they cannot be efficiently reused and shared among different radio standards, when we integrate a DVB-T/H receiver into a mobile phone. This paper presents an example implementation of a DVB-T/H receiver on the prototype of Infineon Technologies' Software-Defined Radio (SDR) platform called MuSIC (Multiple SIMD Cores), which is a DSP-centered and accelerator-assisted architecture and aims at battery-powered mass-market handheld terminals.

Today’s networks are designed to reliably transmit traffic such as data from point to point i.e., unicasting, or from point to multipoint i.e., broadcasting. Multimedia places further demands on the network. First of all, multimedia traffic, such as audio or video, cannot tolerate delays in delivery like those tolerable by plain data transfer applications. Multimedia requires that data packets arrive on time and in the proper order at the client-side. Real-time protocols and quality of service guarantees addresses this issue. Furthermore, multimedia requires transmitting a large amount of traffic over the network and thus uses far more of the network’s bandwidth than in the case of those basic network operations. Multicasting offers a far more efficient way of transmitting such traffic over the Internet than unicasting or broadcasting ever would. The subject of this paper addresses the issue of efficient routing of such multicast traffic.

Wireless local area network–based broadcasting techniques are a type of mobile Internet Protocol television technology that simultaneously transmits multimedia content to local users. Contrary to the existing wireless local area network–based multimedia transmission systems, which transmit multimedia data to users using unicast packets, a wireless local area network–based broadcasting system is able to transmit multimedia data to many users in a single broadcast packet. Consequently, network resources do not increase with the increase in the number of users. However, IEEE 802.11 does not provide a packet loss recovery algorithm for broadcast packet loss, which is unavoidable. Therefore, the forward error correction technique is required to address the issue of broadcast packet loss. The broadcast packet loss rate of a wireless local area network–based broadcasting system that transmits compressed multimedia data is not proportional to the quality deterioration of the received video signals; therefore, it is difficult to predict the quality of the received video while also considering the effect of broadcast packet loss. In this scenario, allocating equal forward error correction packets to compressed frames is not an effective method for recovering broadcast packet loss. Thus, several studies on unequal loss protection have been conducted. This study proposes an effective, prediction-based unequal loss protection algorithm that can be applied to wireless local area network–based broadcasting systems. The proposed unequal loss protection algorithm adopts a novel approach by adding forward error correction packets to every transmission frame while considering frame loss. This algorithm was used as a new metric to predict video quality deterioration, and an unequal loss protection structure was designed, implemented, and verified. The effectiveness of the quality deterioration model and the validity of the unequal loss protection algorithm were demonstrated through experiments.

Mudahnya penyebaran informasi atau konten oleh publik terbuka secara lebar melalui media sosial. Beberapa media sosial mempunyai fitur video live streaming untuk berinteraksi dengan followers, menarik viewers, atau untuk kepentingan bisnis. Video live streaming sangat dinikmati oleh kalangan anak muda, tak terkecuali kalangan anak sekolah. SMK N 9 Surakarta mempunyai jurusan multimedia, dimana tujuan kompetensinya adalah untuk membekali siswa untuk terampil dan kompeten bidang multimedia. Video broadcasting adalah salah satu materi yang dipelajari di sekolah tersebut. Permasalahan tempat/lokasi pengabdian adalah masih terbatasnya peralatan yang memadai untuk mendukung untuk kegiatan praktek produksi live streaming di sekolah tersebut. Program Studi Ilmu Komunikasi UNISRI mempunyai pengalaman dan peralatan yang memadai dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar bidang keahlian broadcasting. Tim pengabdi melakukan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat kepada siswa SMK N 9 Surakarta jurusan multimedia dengan tujuan agar siswa mendapat pemahaman dan pengalaman lebih dari yang sudah diberikan di bangku sekolah. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah; survei ke lokasi pengabdian, pelaksanaan kegiatan pelatihan, dan evaluasi kegiatan pelatihan. Peserta dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah 30 siswa SMK N 9 Surakarta jurusan multimedia. Kegiatan pelatihan ini dilaksanakan selama dalam dua kali pertemuan. Pertemuan pertama pemberian materi serta praktek dan pertemuan kedua adalah praktek pengoperasian kamera dan aplikasi live streaming dalam sebuah acara yang disiarkan secara langsung melalui media sosial YouTube. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah, siswa SMK N 9 Surakarta, mendapatkan pengalaman dan pengetahuan baru dalam bidang video broadcasting.

Upaya memfasilitasi pembelajaran yang berfokus pada siswa yaitu dengan pengembangan multimedia interaktif articulate storyline. Penelitian dibatasi pada pengembangan multimedia interaktif articulate storyline materi pencahayaan dan komposisi gambar. Tujuan penelitian ini (1) pengembangan multimedia interaktif articulate storyline materi pencahayaan dan komposisi gambar dan (2) kelayakan multimedia interaktif articulate storyline materi pencahayaan dan komposisi gambar. Jenis penelitian ialah Research and Development (R&D) diadaptasi dari model pengembangan Borg and Gall yang dimodifikasi menjadi 6 tahap, yaitu analisis, perencanaan, pengembangan produk, validasi ahli, revisi produk, dan produk akhir. Teknik pengembilan data menggunakan observasi dan kuesioner/angket. Hasil penelitian ini berupa (1) aplikasi multimedia (2) Hasil penilaian data validasi oleh ahli materi dan media multimedia interaktif articulate storyline dikategorikan sangat layak. Multimedia interaktif articulate storyline direkomendasi untuk diterapkan dalam proses pembelajaran pada SMK jurusan broadcasting.

Resumen
This paper describes design and implementation of an OFDM-based digital video broadcasting system test platform for multichannel ultra-high definition (UHD) broadcasting services. The developed digital video broadcasting system test platform has been installed in commercial broadcasting station, and trial broadcasting service of the system has been performed through the commercial in-service network. For the performance measurement, field test is also executed. To evaluate the practical performance of the implemented system, a commercial broadcasting set-top box is used. Furthermore, by using measurement receiver, various system performances have been evaluated such as BER, PER, and CNR. Because high efficiency video coding (HEVC) can successfully transmit multimedia contents with a raw data rate of 51.6 Mbps, a multichannel UHD service can be serviced in a single physical 6MHz channel.

As the most popularly utilized broadcasting network, digital terrestrial television broadcasting (DTTB) can provide multimedia information coverage for the broad audience in a very efficient way because of its characteristic of wide-range coverage and mobile reception ability. After promulgating the first generation DTTB standard, digital terrestrial/television multimedia broadcasting (DTMB), in 2006, China began to research and develop the next generation DTTB standard, namely DTMB-advanced (DTMB-A), aiming to support higher spectrum efficiency and further improve transmission reliability. In 2019, DTMB-A was accepted by ITU as the second generation international DTTB standard (as System C). Similar to DTMB, time-domain synchronous - orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (TDS-OFDM) based multi-carrier modulation scheme is adopted by DTMB-A. Thanks to the more flexible frame structure, advanced error correction coding and improved constellation mapping, DTMB-A offers 30% higher transmission capacity than DTMB under the same transmission conditions. Thus, DTMB-A can support both fixed and mobile reception more efficiently, and provide users with higher quality services such as ultra-high definition television (UHDTV). This paper first gives details of key technologies at the transmitter of DTMB/DTMB-A and introduce core algorithms at the receiver. Both laboratory test and field trial results will then be provided and analyzed, especially for the application of 4K UHDTV and single frequency network (SFN).

Faced with the challenges of modern communication, high data throughput requirements, extensive research has been paid to broadband modulation. The multi-carrier modulation is one of the most important wide band modulation techniques. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is an effective blow to the broadcast channel multipath fading and high bit rate transmission multi-carrier modulation technology of wireless channels, it is widely used in modern digital television terrestrial broadcasting (DTTB) system to support performance bandwidth-efficient multimedia services with the aid of inverse fast Fourier transform and fast Fourier transform operation. Multiple-antenna transmitter and receiver technology allows several times to achieve data transmission rates and spectrum efficiency and the use of multiple transmit antennas and multiple receive antennas through spatial processing. The Digital Terrestrial Multimedia Broadcasting (DTMB) system with the multiple-antenna receiver is considered in this paper. Digital Terrestrial Multimedia Broadcasting (DTMB) has three kinds of Frame Head mode with PN420/PN595/PN945 as training sequences for the time domain synchronous OFDM (TDS-OFDM). At the receiver side with multiple antennas, Frame Head mode detection should be done. In this paper, the frame synchronization scheme is proposed for the DTMB systems with the multiple-antenna receiver. System performance studies under different channel situations are used to verify the efficiency of the proposed scheme for the DTMB systems with the multiple-antenna receiver.

Resumen
The article examines the multimedia technologies used by the French TV channel France 24, the RFI radio station and the international television channel TV5 Monde in highlighting current information. The objective of the article is to ascertain the reasons of increased attention to multimedia content and interactivity of French broadcasting channels. To achieve this objective, the following methods were used: observation, analysis, generalization. The definition of the concept “multimedia” was considered and the monitoring of multimedia content of French media materials was implemented. As a result it was determined the most popular technologies and provided the recommendations on the use of multimedia technologies in the programs and on the web-site of the Ukrainian TV channel UA | TV.

Resumen
With the popularization of three dimensional (3D) video on TV, some related aspects, such as broadcast television network transmission, technology application, and content products and so on, will face the challenges of the new technology. Rapid progress has been achieved in the China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting (CMMB) technology, 3D TV technology applied in the mobile TV will become the bright spot in the future. This paper firstly introduces the transmission modes of 3D TV, and then gives the technology solution of 3D TV and the upgrade solution of electronic service guide Electronic Service Guide (ESG) based on CMMB. Test result shows that the new system with 3D video can work correctly when the 3D video was encoded with H.264 standard and the image resolution was conformed to the standard definition (320x240).

Perancangan suatu media periklanan dalam kebutuhan promosi produk apapun sama seperti halnya membangun sebuah bangunan yang mempunyai kualitas yang maksimal. Tanpa konstruksi dan persiapan yang baik mustahil untuk membangun sebuah bangunan yang hasilnya berkualitas. Demikian juga dalam merancang sebuah media periklanan, tanpa perencanaan yang matang dan sistematis tidak akan menghasilkan sebuah produksi media periklanan yang memuaskan, untuk itu diperlukan suatu konsep dalam merancang sebuah media periklanan. Dalam hal ini diperkenalkan sebuah konsep produksi media yang disebut Konsep Produksi MAVIB (KPM). Konsep Produksi MAVIB ini lebih diarahkan kepada hal-hal yang menyangkut tentang tahapan-tahapan yang harus dilakukan di dalam proses perancangan, tahapan tersebut mulai dari persiapan, produksi sampai pasca produksi. Melalui Konsep Produksi MAVIB seluruh proses perancangan dapat berjalan terarah secara teratur, sistematis dan mempermudah perjalanan setiap tahapan dalam merancang sebuah media periklanan yang dibuat. Dalam hal ini penulis menulis artikel untuk memperkaya atau mengembangkan sebuah konsep rancangan produksi media periklanan yang baik dan berkualitas dilihat dari segi persiapan media, produksi sampai pada pasca produksi. Dalam artikel ini diuraikan masalah yang dihadapi dalam Konsep Produksi MAVIB, baik dari segi desain, kekuatan media dan kelemahan media serta manfaat dari Konsep Produksi MAVIB ini. Pada implementasinya ditampilkan rancangan media iklan dengan menggunakan spesial effect CGI dalam menunjang promosi Konsentrasi MAVIB, Jurusan Teknik Informatika Pada Perguruan Tinggi Raharja. Disimpulkan bahwa, Kontribusi Konsep Produksi MAVIB ini akan sangat membantu dalam mengukuhkan dan memperkuat konsep produksi secara teoritis pada konsentrasi bidang ilmu MAVIB (Multimedia Audio Visual dan Broadcasting)
