Resumen
The work studied three methods to identify risky motorcycle riding. It aids in identifying risky motorcyclists who adopt unusual riding positions, which lead to a rise in traffic accidents. This work established the feasibility of monitoring hazardous riding on public roadways. We investigated the detection of motorcycle riding types using 1) the motorcycle's extracted images, 2) the motorcyclist's extracted images, and 3) the motorcyclist's pose landmarks. You Only Look Once (YOLO) was applied to detect a motorcycle, a motorcyclist, and the landmarks of a motorcyclist from images. The findings indicated that the classification derived from YOLO detectable motorcycles surpassed that of the motorcyclists and their pose landmarks. The VGG16 surpassed MobileNet, CNN, and ResNet50 in classifying normal and dangerous riding. YOLO's efficacy in identifying specific pose landmarks at night was insouciant. Detecting dangerous motorcycling based on the motorcyclists' pose landmarks was ineffective at night. Identifying dangerous motorcycling from the detected motorcycles was the most effective. The findings indicated that YOLO attained an accuracy of 71.09% in motorcycle detection from daytime and nighttime images, whereas VGG16 acquired an accuracy of 98.75% in recognizing dangerous motorcycling.

Resumen
Taiwan is one of the countries with the highest motorcycle per capita globally, and motorcycle crashes are predominant among traffic crashes. This study examines the impact of coronavirus disease 2019 restrictions on motorcycle crashes. We analyzed the trend of motorcycle crashes in Taipei City from 2019 to 2020 using the dataset provided by the Department of Transportation, Taipei City Government, Taiwan. We found 47,108 and 51,441 motorcycle crashes in 2019 and 2020, involving 61,141 and 67,093 motorcycles, respectively. Mopeds had the highest risk in 2020, followed by heavy motorcycles [≥550 cubic capacity (cc)] and scooters compared to 2019. Food delivery motorcycle crashes increased for scooters (0.93% in 2019 to 3.45% in 2020, P < .0001) and heavy motorcycles (250 < cc < 550) (0.90% in 2019 to 3.38% in 2020, P < .0001). While fatalities remained under 1%, 30% to 51% of motorcyclists sustained injuries. Food delivery with scooters or heavy motorcycles (250 < cc < 550) was significantly associated with motorcyclist injuries and deaths. Compared with 2019, the adjusted odds ratios of motorcyclist injuries and deaths in 2020 were 1.43 (95% confidence interval = 1.05–1.94) for heavy motorcycles (≥550 cc) and 1.07 (95% confidence interval = 1.04–1.09) for scooters. This study shows that coronavirus disease 2019 restrictions was associated with elevated risks of crashes, injuries, and deaths among motorcyclists, reflecting the general preference for private transport over public transport. The popularity of food delivery services also contributed to increased motorcycle crashes.

Resumen
Other than being a means of transportation, motorcycles represent a lifestyle for automotive enthusiasts. One way these enthusiasts express their passion is by customizing motorcycles. One common modification involves altering the motorcycle's original form, known as a custom-built motorcycle. There are several types of custom-built motorcycles, including cafe racers, street trackers, scramblers, bobbers, and choppers. Of these types, chopper-style motorcycles typically use a frame chassis which is built from scratch. This research aims to design and analyze the frame of a custom chopper-style motorcycle. The process involves creating a 3D model and analyze the strength of chassis frame using the Finite Element Method (FEM) by using Autodesk Inventor Professional 2022 software. The engine mass supported by the frame is assumed to be 30 kg. The frame is assumed to be ridden solo and with a passenger, resulting in total rider weights of 70 kg, 90 kg, 140 kg, and 180 kg. The result of this research is a chopper motorcycle frame design made of steel, weighing 11.74 kg, capable of supporting a rider's load of up to 140 kg, with a safety factor value of 3.20.

Resumen
Malaysia was ranked seventh in the world for having the highest percentage of motorcycle fatalities. The majority of motorcycle fatalities occurred at intersections as a result of other motor vehicles failing to notice them. However, little is known about the behaviour of motorcyclists when they come to a stop at an intersection. This study was designed to examine the position of motorcycles during the red phase at 4-legged signalised intersections. Data from 4,133 motorcycles were collected at four locations in peninsular Malaysia throughout peak and off-peak hours. Motorcycles stopped at signalised intersections by stopping behind the stop line, at/in front of the stop line, at the yellow box, at the pedestrian crossing and at the island marking were collected through video recording. Therefore, to facilitate the analysis, motorcycle positions were classified as either stopping behind the stop line or stopping forward. As per findings, more than 63 percent of motorcyclist’s queue in front of the stop line and move forward during peak and off-peak hours to gain a clear view, which increases the likelihood of a motorcycle departing within a very short time during the initial period of the green signal. To improve the performance of signalised intersections, some traffic engineering approaches can be used, such as the provision of a dedicated area, known as a motorcycle red box, which separates motorcycles from other types of vehicles at traffic lights. Positioning motorcycles ahead of other drivers reduces the risk of motorcycles appearing out of nowhere when traffic begins. This segregation is expected to improve motorcyclist visibility and safety, as well as provide a buffer for pedestrian crossings at signalised intersections, providing better protection for vulnerable road users.

Resumen
An addition of centrifugal pump on the engine of automatic motorcycles is expected to become one of the solutions for fire incidents in densely populated areas in big cities. Many cases of fire-related incidents have not been handled properly due to limitations of access for fire engines such as narrow alleys. The effectiveness of the centrifugal pump for firefighter motorcycles is determined by the optimum function of the pump performance according to the desired specification. The repair of the brackets and the clutch mechanism for the pump in the engine of automatic motorcycles may assist to the full effectiveness of the pump. The repair is based on the stability of the number of cycle on the centrifugal pump during the cycle of the motorcycle engine without any load. There is no disruption to the motorcycle cruise control or an increase of load due to the addition of centrifugal pump in the motorcycle’s engine. By using the magnetic clutch which uses the electrical energy in the connection and disconnection of the joint, this model will be useful since it does not disrupt the motorcycle cruise performance and does not add an extra load to the motorcycle torso.

Resumen
One of the key parameters in the analysis of some motorcycle accident dynamics is the motorcycle’s deceleration during engine braking without applying the brakes. Since this issue lies far beyond what is usually of most interest—the critical states of movement—it is only sporadically addressed in the literature; however, these rare cases can be of fundamental importance. In our research, the results of engine-braking deceleration are presented for 26 motorcycles that were in gear with the throttle back. The tests were carried out at an initial speed of 140 km/h (if this was not possible, then from the maximum speed for a given gear) to the speed at which the motorcycle reached a constant speed or when engine operation became unstable. For all motorcycles and all gears, deceleration vs. speed and speed vs. time were plotted. Regression lines were determined, and their equations are provided, along with ±σ and ±2σ limit lines. Engine-braking deceleration was shown to be inversely proportional to both motorcycle speed (higher speed—lower deceleration) and gear number (higher gear—lower deceleration). Moreover, engine-braking deceleration at the top gear of the various motorcycles tested (i.e., 5th or 6th) was found to be close to each other. The data provided are of crucial importance from the motorcycle longitudinal dynamics and vehicle accident analysis standpoints.

Resumen
The escalation in motorcycle ownership has paralleled a rise in theft incidents, challenging the efficacy of existing security measures. Despite the integration of standard security systems on motorcycles, the persistence of thefts underscores the need for innovative solutions. This study introduces a novel security device that leverages Bluetooth HC-05 technology and an ATmega328 microcontroller to address this issue. The proposed system transcends conventional security protocols by establishing a dynamic link between the motorcycle and its owner. An alarm is triggered when the distance between the paired Bluetooth devices exceeds a predefined threshold, signaling potential unauthorized movement. Moreover, the system is engineered to deactivate the motorcycle's ignition upon Bluetooth connectivity loss, immobilizing the engine and thwarting theft attempts. This advanced security mechanism enhances the protection of motorcycles by incorporating proximity-based alerts and automated engine shutdown features, offering a formidable deterrent against theft. The article delineates this security system's design, implementation, and potential impact, positioning it as a critical advancement in motorcycle anti-theft technology.

Resumen
Motorcycle detection and collision warning are essential features in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to ensure road safety, especially in emergency situations. However, detecting motorcycles from videos captured from a car is challenging due to the varying shapes and appearances of motorcycles. In this paper, we propose an integrated and innovative remote sensing and artificial intelligence (AI) methodology for motorcycle detection and distance estimation based on visual data from a single camera installed in the back of a vehicle. Firstly, MD-TinyYOLOv4 is used for detecting motorcycles, refining the neural network through SPP (spatial pyramid pooling) feature extraction, Mish activation function, data augmentation techniques, and optimized anchor boxes for training. The proposed algorithm outperforms eight existing YOLO versions, achieving a precision of 81% at a speed of 240 fps. Secondly, a refined disparity map of each motorcycle’s bounding box is estimated by training a Monodepth2 with a bilateral filter for distance estimation. The proposed fusion model (motorcycle’s detection and distance from vehicle) is evaluated with depth stereo camera measurements, and the results show that 89% of warning scenes are correctly detected, with an alarm notification time of 0.022 s for each image. Outcomes indicate that the proposed integrated methodology provides an effective solution for ADAS, with promising results for real-world applications, and can be suitable for running on mobility services or embedded computing boards instead of the super expensive and powerful systems used in some high-tech unmanned vehicles.

Resumen
Motorcycle is the most popular transportation means in Vietnam due to its low cost and flexibility. However, motorcycles emit substantial quantities of hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and some amount of particulate matter. Emission factors for in-use motorcycles in Vietnam were studied and established quite a long time ago. The objective of this study is to update the emission factors, not only gaseous emissions but also particle number, for in-use motorcycles in Vietnam. Ten carbureted and electronic fuel injected motorcycles representative for in-use motorcycles were selected for investigation. Each motorcycle was fueled by conventional gasoline, E5 and E10 in turn, and was tested on a chassis dynamometer according to ECE R40 driving cycle. The gaseous emissions were sampled and determined by standard methods, while the particle number in exhaust gas was sampled by using the sampling system developed by Laboratory of Internal Combustion Engine, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam. The updated emission factors were then provided for carbureted motorcycles, EFI motorcycles and average motorcycle fleet in case of gasoline, E5 and E10 fueling.

With the highest concentration of motorcycles in Asia, Taiwan was caused a major traffic congestion and air pollution. To effectively reduce these environmental burdens, Electric Motorcycle Industry Development and Promotion Plan was passed by Taiwanese government. With this plan, people was encouraged to invest in mass production of electric motorcycles. This paper uses the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to explore consumers behavioral intentions and their influencing factors regarding using hydrogen-electric motorcycles. This is a first in hydrogen battery research, and also one of this papers contributions. Results show that consumers' innovativeness towards hydrogen-electric motorcycles does not significantly affect behavioural intentions. To increase customers' behavioural intentions towards hydrogen-electric motorcycles, the customers' innovativeness towards hydrogen-electric motorcycles should be strengthened by motorcycle manufacturers, and perceived risk should be decreased. Then, to improve customers behavioural intentions towards hydrogen-electric motorcycles in the end.

Resumen
Abstract: Developing countries have always relied on motorcycles as their primary mode of transportation, but unfortunately, the number of motorcycle accidents has been on the rise in recent years. One of the leading causes of fatalities in these accidents is the lack of helmet usage by motorcyclists. To ensure that motorcyclists wear helmets, traditional methods include manual monitoring by traffic police at intersections or the use of CCTV footage to identify those not wearing a helmet. However, these methods require significant human effort and intervention. This system proposes an automated approach to identify nonhelmeted motorcyclists and retrieve their license plate information from CCTV footage. The system first differentiates moving objects as motorcycles or non-motorcycles. For classified motorcyclists, the system identifies whether they are wearing helmets or not. If the motorcyclist is not wearing a helmet, the system extracts the license plate number using an OCR algorithm.

Transport, derived from the Latin word "transportare" (with "trans" meaning "across" or "beyond" and "portare" meaning "to carry" or "to bear"), is defined as the process and activity of moving goods or passengers from one place to another. This study aims to analyze the comparison between gasoline-powered vehicles and electric motorcycles in the Soloraya region for the year 2024. A quantitative approach based on statistical information was employed. To address the research problem, precise measurement of the values of the objects under study was performed using surveys, interviews, and questionnaires. The data collected were processed to obtain results regarding the usage of electric motorcycles versus gasoline-powered motorcycles in the Soloraya region. The study found that satisfaction levels and preferences were similar among users of both electric and conventional motorcycles. However, conventional motorcycle users expressed a desire to replace their vehicles within the next 1-2 years. The main reason for choosing electric motorcycles was their environmental friendliness, while conventional motorcycle users cited operational cost as their primary reason. The study concluded that, in terms of range, electric motorcycles have an average distance of 10 km, while conventional motorcycles can cover 11-20 km. Additionally, electric motorcycle users typically use their vehicles 5-6 days a week, whereas conventional motorcycle users tend to use theirs weekly.

Resumen
Recently, the Indonesian government has been increasingly encouraging the population to utilize electric vehicles. In the public transportation sector, including ride-hailing services, the use of electric vehicles, especially motorcycles, is promoted. This study aims to explore the willingness to adopt electric motorcycles among ride-hailing drivers by specifying the preference for buying or renting in adopting electric motorcycles. Using a stated preference method, an interview survey was conducted on 416 ride-hailing drivers in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Nine variables were tested to understand the determinants of electric motorcycle adoption, including purchase or rental costs, cost for motorcycle title transfer, fuel price, maximum coverage distance, maximum speed, the distance between battery exchange stations, annual tax, and credit payment. By using the ordered logit model, the results revealed two variables affecting the purchase of electric motorcycles: purchase price and maximum coverage distance. Meanwhile, four variables significantly influenced the determination of electric motorcycle rental: coverage distance, fuel price, rental fees, and the distance between battery exchange stations. Sociodemographic variables also significantly affect the decision to rent but not purchase electric motorcycles. Meanwhile, full-time drivers and students who work part-time as drivers are more likely to rent electric motorcycles. This study also found that renting electric motorcycles had a better likelihood of adoption than owning them. Finally, several policies were proposed to boost the adoption of electric motorcycles among ride-hailing drivers, including subsidy provisions, technology improvement, and priority provisions for drivers who use electric motorcycles.

Resumen
Motorcycles in Iran, especially in metropolises such as Tehran, are used extensively for various reasons such as low maintenance costs, high maneuverability, and the possibility of entering congestion priced zones without paying a toll. Nevertheless, motorcycles are involved in 25% of accidents and produce almost 30% of air and 50% of noise pollution in Tehran. Current research aims to investigate possible scenarios for reducing the use of motorcycles in Tehran’s traffic and transportation master plan strategies. After designing the scenarios, a stated preference method is used for gathering the required data from various groups of motorcycle riders in Tehran. More than 2,000 questionnaires were completed of which 1,766 were deemed acceptable for data entering and further analysis. Increasing the price of motorcycle maintenance and charging motorcycles to enter the congestion priced zone of Tehran (CPZT) were two main scenarios which were considered in this research. Multinomial and nested logit models were applied to analyze the trip choice behavior of motorcycle riders who had participated in the survey. Results indicated that strategies such as increasing motorcycle maintenance costs could be effective in reducing the use of motorcycles. For instance, increasing motorcycle maintenance costs by 4.7 times and imposing a 70,000 IRR toll price to enter the CP zone resulted in a 66% reduction in motorcycle mode choice by motorcycle riders.

Resumen
A motorcycle box intersection is a signalized intersection with advanced stop lines or stopping spaces intended for motorcycles, creating a waiting area in front of other vehicles. This study introduces the External Driver Model (EDM) with microscopic traffic simulation using PTV Vissim 2024 software, which replicates the filtering and stopping behavior of motorcycles in mixed traffic on intersection approaches. This research aims to evaluate the traffic performance of motorcycle boxes with respect to motorcycle departure times, headway intervals, lane-filtering rates, and vehicle movement patterns at 12 signalized urban intersections in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The results show that the motorcycle box intersection has improved traffic efficiency, reduced motorcycle departure time, and maintained a constant distance between cars and other vehicles. Signalized intersections with motorcycle boxes improved traffic flow efficiency by favoring motorcycles without affecting car delays. Spatial-temporal visualization further supported the clustering characteristics of motorcycles in motorcycle-stopping areas, contributing to more orderly and predictable behavior in traffic. Furthermore, the lane-filtering rates demonstrated significant improvement at intersections equipped with motorcycle boxes compared to conventional intersection designs. These findings indicated that motorcycle boxes are valuable for motorcycle traffic management and intersection safety in urban areas with high volumes of motorcycle traffic.

Resumen
The development of red boxes for motorcycles in Indonesia was initially adopted from the advanced stop line (ASL) for bicycles. The bike box concept was adopted for motorcycles in Indonesia. To date, red boxes have been fully implemented in 21 cities in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of traffic light countdown timers and motorcycle lanes as an approach to the red box for motorcycles at signalized intersections. There were four locations studied in Denpasar Bali, i.e., red boxes with countdown timer only (Condition 1), red boxes with motorcycle lane only (Condition 2), red boxes with countdown timer and motorcycle lane (Condition 3), and red boxes without countdown timer and without motorcycle lane (Condition 4). The analysis results based on motorcycle volume data indicate that a countdown timer has a significant effect in increasing motorcycle acceleration when the green light starts, reducing the possibility of motorized vehicles other than motorcycles stopping in the red box area and reducing stop line violations while waiting during a red light. Meanwhile, the presence of a motorcycle lane as an approach lane to enter the red box area has a significant influence on increasing the occupancy of the red box by motorcycles. In addition, the correlation test shows that the countdown timer has a strong correlation with the occupancy of the red box to capacity and to stop line violation. Meanwhile, the level of traffic flow is strongly correlated with the countdown timer and motorcycle lane.

World Health Organisation has determined that South-East Asian region has the highest road traffic death in 2015 involving motorised 2-3 wheelers. Generally, motorcycles are lack of active safety features that capable to prevent road accident. Therefore, this study aims to design and develop active safety features for a motorcycle to prevent a frontal collision through an audible warning to the motorcyclist and detected object when the collision is about to happen. The system should consist of a simple algorithm with a minimum set of hardware. Based on the design criteria for the system, an audible warning will only be given when all three conditions stated below are met. (1) An object is within stopping distance limit, (2) object heading towards the centre of motorcycle and (3) relative velocity of an object might cause a frontal accident. The system called Detection and Warning System for Motorcycle Vehicular Collision Avoidance (DEWAMCA). It is expected that DEWAMCA can assist currently available Blind Spot Detection System (BSDS) to reduce accident involving motorcycles significantly.

Resumen
Motorcycles have been the primary means of trans- portation in developing countries. Unfortunately, the motorcycle accident cases have been very high recently. Most of the death toll in these motorcycle accidents is due to the fact that motorcyclists fail to wear helmets. How best the motorcyclists are ensured to put on their helmets goes a long way with which technology is utilized: from monitoring the police manual at the intersections or CCTV footage to capture those without a helmet. However these methods consume considerable human effort and interaction. This system contemplates an automated scheme for the detection of helmet less motorcyclists and retrieves license number from CCTV footage. The system first categorizes moving objects as motorcycles or otherwise. For classified motorcyclists, the system determines whether they wear helmets or not. In case, the motorcyclist does not wear a helmet, the system retrieves the License plate number using an OCR algorithm. In this project CNN and yolo algorithms are used for recognition of person with and without helmet as well as triple riding detection. The violated person number plate is detected if its visible. Keywords: Motorcycles, Helmet usage, CCTV footage, automated approach, Non-helmeted motorcyclists, license plate, moving ob- jects, CNN (Convolutional Neural Networks), YOLO (You Only Look Once), recognition, OCR (Optical Character Recognition)

Resumen
Motorcycles are among the favorite transportation preferred by Malaysians. Almost half of the vehicles registered in Malaysia are motorcycles. This is due to the price affordability and size, where almost 80% of the motorcycles owned are categorized under engine capacity below 250 cc. Similar to other Southeast Asia countries, motorcyclists remain the highest contributor to road traffic fatalities and injuries in Malaysia. The New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), has elevated the importance of safety technology in passenger cars such as antilock braking system (ABS) and autonomous emergency braking (AEB) in order to protect the occupants. However, the limitation of space and power requirements in two-wheel motorcycles deferred the technology implementation. Previous studies have attempted to study the effectiveness of ABS for motorcycles with 250 cc and above. Focusing on the low cc motorcycle of less than 250 cc, this paper compares motorcycle braking distance and rider stability between motorcycles with ABS and motorcycles without ABS during dry and wet conditions. The braking distance produced by ABS is reduced by 50% and 12% in dry and wet conditions respectively. In addition, motorcycles with ABS were tested at higher speeds of 50 km/h. ABS motorcycles shows consistent data for a series of tests. This finding demonstrates the effectiveness of ABS in improving braking performance for low cc motorcycles.

The purpose of this publication is to present the construction and adaptation of the test stand intended for motorcycle simulation research. The stand is designed to study the impact of motorcycle vibrations that act on the body of the driver and passenger. Motorcycles belong to one of the types of transport that directly affects users. Excessive vibrations transmitted to the body of the driver and passenger can make driving uncomfortable and even dangerous. The vibrations of motorcycles depend mainly on the technical condition of the vehicle, the structure of the vehicle, and the construction of the engine. The stand was built on the basis of a hydraulic power supply unit, distributor, and electrohydraulic pulsators. The purpose of the construction of the stand is to examine a given group of motorcycles to learn and eliminate vibrations that occur in various areas of motorcycles and affect the comfort, health, and safety of motorcycle travelers. Test studies of the presented stand are presented in this article. The preliminary results of the simulation tests determined the possibility of testing individual elements and motorcycles on the laboratory stand.

Resumen
Motorbike vehicles are the most widely used private transportation by people to travel to places near and even far. In addition to motorcycles having a price that is relatively affordable by the public, motorcycles are much easier to go through all the congested and narrow road terrains. The increasing number of motorcycles circulating around and also the weak security system of motorcycles are one of the causes often targeted by theft. In this study, we provided a solution to this security by building a motorcycle security control system that can be accessed and controlled remotely using a Smartphone. The system installed on this motorcycle uses a microcontroller (Arduino Mega2560), a global positioning system (GPS) module, a vibration sensor module, and a relay module. The GPS module helps to determine the coordinates of the position of the motorcycle. These coordinates are sent and displayed through the Android application on the smartphone of the motorcycle owner. Based on the results of several tests, the system used can communicate well between the motorcycle and the motorcycle owner through the internet network, as long as the devices in the vehicle are connected to the internet network.

Resumen
With the rapid rise in problems associated with use of motorcycles as alternative means to inadequate public transportation, this study seeks to identify household factors influencing motorcycle ownership in Makurdi. The study estimates the influence of the various household factors identified and a model for predicting motorcycle ownership is developed for the study area. Data were collected via a questionnaire survey of 1412 households in the study area. The survey revealed that the number of motorcycles owned per household in the low density zone was 0.67 while that for the medium and high density zones was 0.62 and 0.79 respectively. The multinomial logit model developed predicted that 67% of households owned motorcycles as compared to 71% observed from survey data. Severity applications of the model to test the effects of changing economic situations on motorcycle ownership showed that residents of the study area are more disposed to owning motorcycles in periods of recession than periods of economic boom. The study gives an understanding of motorcycle growth pattern and ownership characteristics in the study area and will therefore serve as a relevant input for planning, regulation and control of motorcycle activities in the study area.

Resumen
Motorcycles are one of the most widely used means of transportation in the community. However, this widespread usage has led to an increase in thefts, especially when motorcycles are not equipped with adequate security systems. Statistical data shows that motorcycles have the highest theft rate compared to other vehicles. To address this issue, an enhanced security system is necessary. This study proposes the use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensor and the Blynk application to provide additional security for motorcycles. The RFID system will only be accessible using the motorcycle owner's e-KTP (electronic Indonesian Identity Card) or other registered cards to start the vehicle. Additionally, the Blynk mobile application allows for vehicle control (ON and OFF) via Wi-Fi and provides real-time monitoring of the vehicle's status. This application enables motorcycle activation remotely via Wi-Fi, with a range of approximately 10 meters. Meanwhile, there is a 4-second delay to start the motor starter using e-KTP. Test results indicate that this IoT-based keyless ignition and starter system is effective in enhancing motorcycle security. With this system, motorcycles have a dual-layer security mechanism to minimize theft attempts.

High-powered motorcycles or supersports motorcycles, or superbikes are among the types of motorcycle that could be seen on the roads in many countries worldwide. Having top-notch features makes it to be among the best kind of motorcycles being produced ever since. However, its design features and purpose made it not to have a center stand like other motorcycles. Therefore, a paddock stand must be used, which requires at least two persons to use it safely. With the technological advancement in engineering design, researchers at the Motorcycle Engineering Technology Laboratory (METAL) innovated and introduced a single-user paddock stand that is efficient, ergonomic, and easy to use. This paper explains the evolution of the innovative stand that could help superbike owners lift their motorcycle safely and ergonomically, especially when no one is there to give them a helping hand. Resumen
The Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 mandated that motorcycles be permitted to travel on federally funded high-occupancy-vehicle (HOV) facilities unless they created a safety hazard or adversely affected HOV operations. Although motorcycles had previously been banned from traveling on Virginia's HOV lanes, the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) authorized motorcycle travel on HOV facilities in Virginia as of September 21, 1992, for a 2-year trial period. Study of that 2-year trial period found that motorcycles account for as much as 3 percent of the annual peak traffic volume on some HOV lanes. However, in the 2 years after the CTB authorized their travel on HOV facilities, there were only five motorcycle crashes on HOV lanes in the peak direction during hours that HOV restrictions were in effect. The study concludes that there is no evidence that allowing motorcycles to travel on HOV lanes in Virginia has an adverse impact on motorcycle safety or congestion on HOV lanes.

Resumen
Electric motorcycles or e-motorcycles is a clean mode of road transport that present a prominent solution toward decarbonizing cities. Despite of e-motorcycles being cleaner than gasoline ones, at the moment, there is missing information whether it is feasible to replace gasoline motorcycles with e-motorcycles used for business transport purposes. This paper, therefore, presents the results comparing energy usage when using e-motorcycles and when using the gasoline motorcycles. The energy demand for driving passengers using an e-motorcycle in the precarious routes originated from Gongo la Mboto bus stop to Segerea bus stop, Buguruni Malapa, Gerezani bus stop, Kivukoni bus stop, and Buza bus stop has been estimated. In each route, the energy has been estimated in one and four round-trips. The results reveal that the brushless direct current motor (BLDC) rated 2.5 kW is suitable for driving two passengers while consuming about 0.05 kWh/km at 50 km/h for the distance of 36 km. Increase in route length exhibit the uptrend in total energy required (Etotal). The maximum Etotal for one and four round-trips are 2.5 kWh and 10.0 kWh, respectively, for a route of 36 km length. Considering the energy demand of 2.5 kWh for one round-trip of 36 km, a battery pack of 45 Ah 60 V is found suitable to power the e-motorcycle per charge without compromising the design in terms of weight and size. Consequently, this yields to a saving of about 6.4 kWh, which is around 72 % of the energy that could be used by its gasoline counterpart. This means an e-motorcycle of this power rating could save 0.18 kWh/km, equivalent to 0.02 L/km. Moreover, e-motorcycle could cost 24.3 Tsh/km compared to 754.8 Tsh/km for its gasoline counterpart, and save around 97 % of the fuel cost. These results indicate that an e-motorcycle can outperform its gasoline counterpart. These findings play vital roles in designing energy storage systems and charging infrastructure that could offer a reliable service to end-users and assist to accelerate e-motorcycle adoption.

In order to better understand the factors affecting the likelihood of motorcyclists’ fatal injuries, motorcycle-involved crashes were investigated based on the involvement of the following vehicles: single motorcycle (SM), multiple motorcycles (MM) and motorcycle versus vehicle (MV) crashes. Method: Binary logit and mixed logit models that consider the heterogeneity of parameters were applied to identify the critical factors that increase the likelihood of motorcyclist fatality. Results: Mixed logit models were found to have better fitting performances. Factors that increase the likelihood of motorcyclist fatality include lanes separated by traffic islands, male motorcyclists, and riding with BAC values of less than the legally limited value. Collisions with trees or utility poles lead to the highest likelihood of fatality in SM crashes. The effects of curved roads, same-direction swipe crashes, youth, and unlicensed motorcyclists are only significant in the likelihood of fatality in SM crashes. Conclusions: Motorcyclists tend to be killed if they collide with large engine-size motorcycles and vehicles, unlicensed motorcyclists, or drivers with speeding related or right-of-way violations with positive BAC values. Driving or riding should be prohibited for any amount of alcohol or for anyone with a positive BAC value. Law enforcement should focus on unlicensed, speeding motorcyclists and drivers, and those who violate the right of way or perform improper turns. Roadside objects and facilities should be checked for appropriate placement and be equipped with reflective devices or injury protection facilities.

Resumen
Abstract. Gasoline-fueled motorcycles predominate as private vehicles worldwide. The high number of motorized vehicles running on fossil fuels contributes to air pollution and hence to the destruction of the environment and of human health. This has given rise to alternative vehicles such as electric cars and motorcycles—a market which Indonesia, with its high market share of motorcycles, ought to understand better. Consumer behavior related to electric motorcycles ought to be investigated to boost adherence to this type of vehicle. This study aims to evaluate the intention of residents of Surakarta, an Indonesian city with a dynamic market, to purchase electric motorcycles. The two independent variables implemented are perceived value and age, and respondents number 184, selected through cluster sampling to represent Surakarta’s population. The study employs ordinal logistic regression, as the response variable at hand is ordinal. Results show that age and perceived value influenced the intention to purchase electric motorcycles in Surakarta. Especially based on our young and middle-aged respondents, we can conclude that as perceived value increased, so did the probability of the intention to buy an electric motorcycle. Keywords: Electric motorcycle, electric vehicle, perceived value, intention to purchase, green transportation

Familiarity with motorcycles may be related to their conspicuity. A survey was constructed that approached the idea of conspicuity through the recall of various traffic scenarios. Respondents were classified as either motorcycle owners or non owners. Motorcycle owners were more familiar with the characteristics of motorcycles than nonowners and believed that they had seen more motor scooters in the last 7 days.

Resumen
Out of many plausible causative factors for the spike in accidents, lack of riding skills is reported to be a significant reason for motorcycle mishaps. The riding skills can be improved through better availability of training facilities (simulator). Non-availability of the dimensional database (of different types of motorcycles), which are essential for simulator design, makes it difficult for the designers/ engineers to build the commercially available cheaper motorcycle-simulators. Moreover, the available measuring techniques and devices are costly and unable to satisfy motorcycle measurement's diverse requirements. Thus, the present research aimed to prepare the dimensional database of motorcycles using an in-house fabricated measuring instrument. Following the adaptive design method, the alpha prototype of a laser-pointer-based measuring instrument was developed. The calibrated device was used for measuring the dimensions associated with the handlebar, seat, and footrest of the 23 different motorcycles under study. Detailed (linear, angular, and circumferential) dimensions of the handlebar, seat, and footrest were measured using sliding calipers and protractors. Generated dimensional databases of 18 critical dimensions from the handlebar, seat, and footrest of the 23 different standard-motorcycles would be useful for deciding the motorcycle simulator's dimensions.

Resumen
There are more and more motorcycles on the roads. This can be seen, for example, on the basis of statistical data from the Central Statistical Office, where newly registered two-wheelers are presented. Based on the data, it can be seen that there are more and more newly registered motorcycles every year and that there are many road accidents involving two-wheelers. According to data provided by the WHO, as many as 28% of fatalities in road accidents are motorcycle drivers [10]. The article below presents a review of the literature related to motorcycle crash tests and the dummies used for the tests. The work presents the most important standard that regulates how motorcycle crash tests are performed. The main purpose of the article is to draw attention to the problem of safety of motorcycle users. The text describes various crash tests of two-wheelers and stands used for testing motorcycles. The work presents a dummy specially designed for crash tests involving motorcycles. Differences between this dummy and other dummies used have also been described. The paper discusses the literature and describes research related to crash tests.

Resumen
The use of electric motorcycles (EMCs) is rapidly increasing because EMCs are comparable in price to internal combustion engine motorcycles (ICE motorcycles), can be charged at home, and do not cause pollution. However, using EMCs in residential electrical systems is still a new issue in Thailand, as the Thai power grid was not originally designed to support electric vehicle charging. Therefore, the effect that may occur on the electrical system of a house should be studied. In this study, the power quality when charging an EMC in a residential electrical system is investigated by considering the circuits of various electrical devices according to their actual consumption behavior. Three electric motorcycles with battery capacities of 20, 30, and 40 Ah were used to investigate the effects of charging these motorcycles through the electrical system of a house. The experiment was conducted in a laboratory that replicated the electrical system of a house, and the conditions and patterns of power consumption were identical in all three cases. The test results were considered in terms of power quality, voltage harmonics, and current power system harmonics to analyze the effects on the electrical system in each circuit and to compare the charging differences of each motorcycle model. Next, it was determined that using an EMC is more cost-effective than using an ICE motorcycle. ICE motorcycles will eventually be completely replaced by EMCs, and our research will enable informed decision-making for electric motorcycle riders, researchers, and automotive corporations.

Resumen
Indonesia is a densely populated country where most people use motorcycles for mobility. With increasing carbon emissions, Indonesia plans to migrate conventional motorcycles toward electric ones by 2040. However, the adoption process of electric motorcycles is relatively slow, considering that the number of electric motorcycles is still far from the government's target. This study aims to investigate what factors influence the adoption process of electric motorcycles in Indonesia. Based on 906 samples, an analysis was conducted using a hybrid choice model on willingness to pay more, which considered three components: socio-demographics, Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), and travel behavior patterns. The results showed that all three components significantly affect the willingness to pay more. Individuals who are older, highly educated, high-income, use public or environmentally friendly transportation, and have a low frequency of mobility for work purposes are more likely to purchase an electric motorcycle. The results of this study provide a new perspective in the unique context of electric motorcycle adoption in Indonesia and conditions that still need improvement when related to the government's long-term targets. This research will be helpful for governments and manufacturers by providing the characteristics of people who are more likely to purchase an electric motorcycle.

Resumen
Motorcycle riders have been the top contributor to road deaths for over a decade in Malaysia. With proper safety technology systems installed on the upcoming models, it is predicted that motorcycle crashes and deaths can be reduced in the next decade. This study aims to review the past, recent, and upcoming vehicle safety technologies from the motorcycle and passenger car perspective that can potentially help reduce motorcycle crashes and injury risks. Various safety technologies have been introduced for passenger cars such as anti-lock braking systems, electronic stability control, lane keep assistance, traction control, blind-spot detection, autonomous emergency braking, and many more. With the requirements of ASEAN NCAP, these technologies are introduced to make passenger cars safer and to avoid road collisions, especially with the motorcycle. However, the opposite is true for motorcycles where only expensive motorcycles have these safety technologies, while for lower- capacity motorcycles, only basic and compulsory technologies are introduced even though this group remains the top contributor to motorcycle crashes and road deaths in Malaysia. Therefore, it is suggested that more safety technologies be introduced for motorcycles especially lower-capacity models. While for passenger cars, there are newer technologies that can be introduced to improve the current offerings to enhance the safety of passenger cars and other vehicles on the road and reduce the risk of road fatalities.

Resumen
The use of motorcycle as an alternative means of transportation has become dominant in citiesof developing countries. This study examined motorcycle as a mode of passenger transport, pattern ofoperation, frequency and factors responsible for use as an alternative means of transportation inOgbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria. The sample size formula of Eichenberger et al. (2011) was adopted anddata were collected using simple random sampling technique to administer 400 copies of questionnairesto motorcyclists at 15 survey points along 4 major traffic corridors. Informant interview was conductedon Chairmen of Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN)and Amalgamated National Commercial Motorcycle Workers Association (ANACOMWA) in Ogbomoso.Data on registered motorcycles were collected from ACOMORAN and ANACOMWA records. As at 2023,there were 14,697 registered commercial motorcycles with an average increase of 8.3% annually. Resultsshowed that most (86%) of motorcycles were owned by the motorcyclists. The motorcycles were acquiredthrough higher purchase (41%), outright purchase (32%), government assistance (14%) and cooperativeloan (13%). Improved standard of living (40.5%), unemployment (24.8%), and source of income (15.0%)were the factors influencing motorcycle operation. Majority (42%) of motorcyclists operate throughoutthe week at morning period. The fares charged vary from N100 and above depending on length ofjourney. The study suggests local production of motorcycle and spare parts, education of motorcyclistson safety measures and enlightenment on road signs and symbols as well as other traffic rules amongothers.
