Resumen
The authors present a model of children's responses to their mother's shift in identity from heterosexual to lesbian. Initially, many children react with denial or anger and later respond with bargaining. They may experience depression before accepting their mother as a lesbian. The model is based on information gathered from workshops and in-depth interviews with lesbian mothers. Intervention strategies are proposed to help lesbian mothers support their children's responses and nurture their children's growth toward accepting their mother's lesbian identity.

Resumen

Failure to give exclusive breastfeeding to infants can be caused by factors in the mother's condition such as the mother's confidence or self-efficacy to provide breast milk to her baby. Most primipara mothers have low self-efficacy due to difficulties going through a role transition period and carrying out the demands of their new role as mothers. Kangaroo mother care is a method of skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby (skin-to-skin contact). In kangaroo method care, breast milk can always be available and very easy to obtain, because the baby is near the mother's breast so that the baby can suckle whenever the baby wants it and also increases the mother's bonding so that it can increase the mother's self-efficacy thereby increasing the success of the breastfeeding process. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of kangaroo mother care on breastfeeding self-efficacy in primiparous mothers at RSU Royal Prima Medan in 2022. This type of research is a quasy experiment using a posttest only control group design. The results of the Independent T-Test test obtained a p-value of 0.000 which is less than 0.05 (0.000 <0.05), so that we can state that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. In conclusion, there is the effect of kangaroo mother care on breastfeeding self-efficacy in primiparous mothers at Royal Prima Medan General Hospital in 2022. It is hoped that this research can provide information that kangaroo mother care is very important and useful because it can increase breastfeeding self-efficacy.

Key words: Kangaroo Mother Care, ASI, Self Efficacy, Breastfeeding

Resumen
ABSTRACT Caring for mothers and newborns after passing through a critical period is a very important stage. At this stage, the mother can develop a deeper loving relationship with her baby, recover after giving birth and learn to understand how to care for her baby. In fact, quite a lot of mothers are still confused about caring for their babies. Research was conducted to support mothers in terms of independently caring for their newborns with the mother-baby care method and also to attract the participation of the mother's family and husband in newborn care. The purpose of this study was to find out whether there is a relationship between the M-BC approach in efforts to make post partum mothers independent. The research was carried out using a quantitative research design and using a cross sectional approach and taking a sample of 28 mothers at the Berastagi Mandiri Pratama Clinic. The test results using the Rank Spearman method show that the p value is smaller than the significance value (α). The correlation coefficient (r) between mother's knowledge about newborn care using the mother-baby care model and mother's independence motivation is 0.917 or 91.7% which indicates a very strong relationship. This research resulted in a strong correlation between the variables of mother's knowledge about the Mother-Baby Care method for newborns and the mother's independence variable so that it is suggested to health workers and institutes to use this model in the care of mothers and newborns. Keywords: Mother-Baby Care, Post-Partum Mother's Independence, Newborn Care. ABSTRAK Perawatan terhadap ibu dan bayi baru lahir setelah melewati masa kritis adalah tahap yang sangat penting. Resumen
AbstractThis study evaluated the responses of infant Japanese macaques (Macaca fuscata) to their mother's resumption of mating. Mothers and infants were observed before, during and after the mating season. Observations carried out during the mating season were subdivided according to the mother's consort activity with mature males. During consorts, significant decrements in mother-infant ventroventral contact and proximity, and in the roles played by mothers in maintaining contact and proximity were observed, while maternal rejection increased significantly. Social behaviour of infants and allomaternal care they received were unaffected by the mother's consort activity. Effects of consorts were more evident in female than in male infants, but were not influenced by the infant age or by the quality of the relationship it had with its mother before the mating season. These results do not support the hypothesis that the effects of the mother's resumption of mating may parallel those of experimental mother-infant separation.

Background. The relationship between teenager girls with idiopathic scoliosis and their mothers may be a source of mental strain during complex restorative treatment.Aim of the study. To assess the mother-daughter relationship of adolescent girls with severe idiopathic scoliosis.Materials and methods. The experimental group consisted of 30 women with teenager daughters diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis of the 4th degree. The control group included 30 women with teenager daughters with no orthopedic pathology. The questionnaire “Diagnostic of parental relationship” (Varga and Stolin) and the methodology “Teenagers on their parents” (Schafer, Mateychik, and Rzhichan) were used as research methods. Results and discussion. General and specific characteristics of the mother-daughter relationship in families of adolescent girls with idiopathic scoliosis and families of healthy girls were identified. Mothers of girls with idiopathic scoliosis and mothers of girls with o orthopedic disorder demonstrated a pronounced positive attitude to their daughters. Mothers of daughters with idiopathic scoliosis, in contrast to mothers of healthy daughters, were more likely to actively cooperate with their daughters in various aspects of life, including treatment. We investigated the mother-daughter relationship and how to assess this relationship with adolescent girls. Emotionally, non-judgmental acceptance of a daughter with severe idiopathic scoliosis is perceived by the daughter as the mother's desire for an emotionally close and trusting relationship. The attitude of the mother regarding an ill daughter as a failure will be perceived as hostility manifested as strict control by the mother. The mother's attitude to a healthy daughter manifesting as overprotection is perceived by adolescent girls as an authoritarian attitude by the mother. Conclusion: General and specific characteristics of the mother-daughter relationship in families of adolescent girls with idiopathic scoliosis and families of healthy adolescent girls were revealed. In the context of complex surgical treatment, preventive measures are necessary to address psychological difficulties in adolescent patients with idiopathic scoliosis.

Resumen
Abstract Caesarean section is an act of delivery assistance through a surgical process that results in changes in tissue continuity and causes pain. The impact that occurs in post-cesarean section patients includes infection in the suture marks, uterine infections, keloids, blood vessel injuries, and amniotic fluid entering the blood vessels. In addition, the discomfort felt by post-sectional patients can cause mother's dependence on nurses and families in meeting the needs of activities and the relationship between mother and baby is disrupted because the mother is more focused on the pain of the surgical wound. In addition, the process of physical and psychological adaptation of the mother will be more severe when the mother undergoes a surgical delivery process. The pain felt by the mother after childbirth and the physical limitations in carrying out activities tend to have the potential to affect the mother's ability to care for her baby and breastfeed her baby. Mother's Milk (ASI) is the best nutrition for babies because it provides adequate nutrition and is in accordance with the baby's needs. The mother's lack of confidence in her ability to breastfeed her baby can be caused by the mother not making initial contact with her baby. This can affect the welfare of the baby in the future. This research is quantitative research. The design used is cross sectional or cross sectional. The sampling technique was done by consecutive sampling. This study aims to analyze the effect of breastfeeding self-efficacy on breastfeeding behavior of post-cesarean mothers. The results of statistical analysis using chy-square showed that breastfeeding self-efficacy for post-cesarean mothers affected poor breastfeeding behavior by 80.9%. On the other hand, mothers who had poor BSE only 31% had good breastfeeding behavior. These results indicate that there is an effect of BSE on the breastfeeding behavior of post-cesarean mothers at the source of life hospital in Ambon (p value = 0.012). There is an influence between breastfeeding self efficacy on the behavior of breastfeeding mothers after cesarean section at Sumber Hidup Hospital in Ambon.

Resumen
Exclusive breastfeeding for infants up to the age of 6 months reaches 42% while the WHO target wes at least 50%. To increase the coverage of breastfeeding, new mothers who have passed leave and have to return to work can carry out the management of Dairy Mother's Milk (ASIP) (Riskesdas, 2013). According to Kristiyansari (2009) working mothers can still breastfeed, before going to work breastfeed their babies first, then at work mothers pump breast milk and store the milk then when they get home the milk is given to the baby or stored in the refrigerator. After giving the counseling, conducting questions and answers and discussions, many asked about how to pump breast milk and how to store breast milk, especially for working mothers. Furthermore, the evaluation wes given questions to the mother and can answer even though it is not perfect in providing answers, here it appears that there is an understanding that has been received by the mother after counseling. By being given this counseling, it is hoped that from now on, mothers will learn and not be ashamed to add information to health workers about how to express and the correct technique for storing breast milk for working mothers. So that by the time the mother is working, the mother is ready and able to pump breast milk and the mother can store breast milk properly

This study examines national television news images of mothers of US combat soldiers during the first seven years of the Iraq War. News stories presented mothers as archetypal good mothers engaged in maternal work long after their children’s deployment. Some mothers were depicted as vocal vis-à-vis their position on the Iraq War, a contrast to the historical depiction of the archetypal patriotic mother who is stoic and silent. The resulting image is more complex, suggesting the boundaries of the archetype may be changing.

Resumen
Background The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted mothers’ and children's access to essential health services. Concerns about the transmission of COVID-19 to infants resulted in strict procedures, which then caused delays in initial contact and breastfeeding. This delay then impacted the well-being of mothers and babies. Purpose This study aimed to explore the experience of mothers with COVID-19 in breastfeeding. This study was qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. Methods Participants were mothers with a confirmed history of COVID-19 during the breastfeeding period either in 2020, 2021, or 2022. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with 21 mothers. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Results Three themes were obtained: breastfeeding during the mother was confirmed COVID-19, changes in the mother's condition, and social support received by the mother. Based on this theme, it can be seen that mothers are temporarily separated from their newborns, which causes breastfeeding difficulties. Mothers confirmed to have COVID-19 in 2020 and 2021 appear to have more significant concerns about transmitting COVID-19, as indicated by the mother's decision not to breastfeed and to undergo separate isolation with the baby. Conclusion Mothers need support to continue to breastfeed. The benefits obtained from breastfeeding are far more significant than efforts to prevent transmission by separating mother and baby, so mothers should be encouraged to continue breastfeeding.

Resumen
Pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding are natural and physiological processes for every woman who plays the role of a mother. The end of this quite long process is the birth of a baby which the parents have been waiting for. After the baby is born with the placenta, it will be the peak of adaptation for a mother and her baby. The mother will enter the postpartum and breastfeeding period where the mother will assume her new role. Some of these discomforts will bother the mother and cause increased morbidity in the mother. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that health care during the postpartum period can be started 24 hours after giving birth or when the mother is in a physiological postpartum state. This treatment can be carried out by competent personnel such as doctors, midwives or nurses. This health care is an effort to improve the level of health as a mother in general and during the postpartum period and breastfeeding in particular. From this adaptation process you will find some discomfort. This can be overcome with postpartum care. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. Using the total population, from the cross tabulation results, 65.7% of postpartum mothers who underwent postpartum care were in a healthy condition during the postpartum period (42 days). These results show that there is a tendency for mothers who undergo postpartum care to have a healthy body condition. From this, it becomes a reference that postpartum care is very important for postpartum mothers to be able to improve the mother's health status during the postpartum period and beyond

Resumen
I tested the hypothesis that, in infant-mother-sibling interactions, infants with older siblings aged 11 to 24 months produce deictic gestures when they are proximal to, or engaging in joint attention with, their mothers more frequently than same-aged infants without siblings. Fifteen infant-mother dyads and 10 infant-mother-sibling triads were individually observed for 15 minutes in a playroom full of toys. Infants involved in infant-mother-sibling interactions produced more deictic gestures when they were proximal to their mothers than infants in infant-mother interactions. Further, infants involved in infant-mother-sibling interactions accompanied their gestures with vocalizations at a higher rate than infants in infant-mother interactions. This result suggests that infants with older siblings monitor their mothers more carefully in interactions in which their sibling is also present, and that they produce deictic gestures in order to effectively elicit joint action with their mothers.

The target set under this goal was to reduce by two-third, between 1990 and 2015, the proportion of child mortality. Maternal BMI is closely associated with child nutritional status. Weak mother having low BMI has low nutrition status which effect child weight. Healthy and balance food of mothers have positive effect on their child. Underweight mother can have impaired and poor growing kids. This study presents impact of some socio-economic demographic and maternal health related factors on health status of children in selected South Asian countries i.e. Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. The study used micro data from demographic and health survey (DHS) of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. Multinomial logistic regression results revealed that mother education, mother working status, mother health, availability of safe drinking water, family size and vaccination have significant effect on child health. Mother's education is positively associated with healthy child. Working mothers are more likely to have healthy child. Weak and obese children are positively associated with malnourished and overweight mothers respectively. Small family size has positive impact on weak child health. Mothers who take care of the kangaroo method feel more confident in caring for their babies compared to mothers who do not take care of the kangaroo method. Kangaroo care methods also increase the closeness of the mother with her baby (bonding attachment), reduce feelings of stress to the mother as well as to the baby, and make the mother and baby more calm and relaxed. Mother's confidence will improve along with the increase in the ability of mothers to care for their babies. Based on information about the Purba Horison Village, the main problems and alternative solutions were found, namely the lack of means in terms of electronic communication more or less to make the community lack of knowledge in terms of health that also affects family parenting patterns and living standards of the local community. For this reason, counseling and training in the health sector are needed to increase community knowledge that can improve the quality of life of the Purba Horison village community.

Resumen
Dominant cultural ideologies of motherhood define the nature of mother love. Recent developments in motherhood studies, and the work of a small number of feminist philosophers and scholars of motherhood, have challenged the tenets of these ideologies by daring to speak the “unspeakable”: that mother love is often and for all mothers, whether consciously or not, permeated by powerful negative and conflicting emotions termed maternal ambivalence. In this essay, relying on recorded personal narratives by Bosnian women who are raising children born of wartime rape, as well as recent studies on empowered motherhood, my aim is to show that maternal love, like love in any other close relationship, encompasses and assimilates healthy ambivalence, and can inform maternal care in a constructive and positive manner. I argue that the acknowledgment of healthy maternal ambivalence as an integral aspect of mother love involves honoring the mother's subjectivity and validates her personhood, and as such it opens up the possibility of redefining mother love in terms that are empowering to mothers.

Resumen
Three questions were addressed in this study: (a) Do mothers of stuttering children talk faster than mothers of nonstuttering children, (b) do stuttering children talk faster than nonstuttering children, and (c) is there a relationship between child's rate of speech and mother's rate of speech in dyadic conversation? Twelve nonstuttering preschool boys and their mothers were matched with 12 stutterers and their mothers. Ten min of free-play interaction between alternated mother—child dyads were video recorded. Speech rates, defined as syllables per second in fluent utterances, were calculated. Results demonstrated that mothers of stutterers talked significantly faster to all children. Stutterers spoke slower than nonstutterers, and severe stutterers spoke slower than moderate stutterers. A correlational analysis revealed that the more the child stuttered, the slower he talked during fluent speech. Further, the slower the child talked during fluent speech, the faster the mother interacting with him talked. The results reveal an interactive and complex relationship between mother and child speech rates. The interpretation of results relating to child speech rates was complicated by post hoc analyses revealing a significant relationship between speech rates and utterance length.

Resumen
Working mom's busyness affects the physical and psychological condition of the mother inhibiting the smoothness of milk production. The application of hypnobreastfeeding makes the mother relaxation so as to increase the hormone prolactin and oxytocin for smooth milk production. The procedure of hypnobreastfeeding by giving a positive suggestion/affirmation sentence in the mother's unconscious mind can increase the mother's confidence in the breastfeeding process. The purpose of this study was to explain the effect of hypnobreastfeeding on breast milk production on breastfeeding working mothers. This study used one group pretest posttest design. 25 breastfeeding working mothers were taken by consecutive samping. Hypnobreastfeeding is done independently after being given 1x workshop and performed every day at least 2x a day before breastfeeding. Breastmilk production is measured for 7 days before and after hypnobreastfeeding using a measuring cup based on the volume of dairy milk in a day. The average milk production before treatment 210 ml / day and after treatment to 255 ml / day. Data analysis using paired t-test with significant value α = 0,05 got p value = 0.000 indicating hypnobreastfeeding effect to milk production in working breastfeeding mother. Nurses or other health workers may recommend hypnobreastfeeding as one of the lactation management methods to increase breastfeeding production, especially in working breastfeeding mothers. Resumen
Social networking sites (SNSs) are platforms where people make social comparisons very frequently, and because of those comparisons, they have the potential for evoking a wide range of emotions. According to typology of social comparison-based emotions, the emotions felt after social comparisons may vary according to the direction of comparison (upward vs. downward) as well as the internal process that triggered by those comparisons (assimilation vs. contrast). The current study aims to examine the mothers' emotions they felt after social comparisons they make with other mothers on the SNSs, and search out the usefulness of using the typology of social comparison-based emotions in examining those emotions. For this purpose, an online survey was conducted on 42 mothers between the ages of 20 and 48, who have been a member of SNSs for at least six months. Mothers responses to two open-ended questions; one is about the emotions they feel after upward comparisons, and the other is about the ones that they felt after downward comparison they made with other mothers on SNSs, were examined through thematic analyses. The results pointed out that the emotion classification offered in Smith’s theory might be useful in examining the social comparisons on SNSs made by mothers, with the addition of some new categories. Specifically, it was found that some mothers feel doubts about the credibility of information in other mothers’ posts, and some others denied they are emotionally influenced by social comparisons. Another interesting finding was that mothers reported to feel assimilative and contrastive emotions simultaneously.

Resumen
This paper examines the representation of the mother figure in two modern tragedies, namely Blood Wedding (1932) by the Spanish dramatist Federico García Lorca and Mother Courage and Her Children (1939) by the German playwright Bertolt Brecht. The paper sheds light on the binary representation of maternity in both plays. Hence, it highlights how the mother figures are depicted as traditional, “natural” mothers who are caring and overprotective but simultaneously contradict the traditional mother archetype, rendering themselves “bad mothers.” It shows that the mothers sacrifice their motherhood or maternal love for the sake of the other side of the binary which is traditions, honor, and revenge in the case of the Mother in Blood Wedding whereas business and capital in the case of Anna Fierling in Mother Courage and her Children. Eventually, the other side of the binary, which is not motherhood, wins. To achieve its purpose, the paper examines the mother-son relationship in Blood Wedding as well as the mother-son and the mother-daughter relationship in Mother Courage and Her Children.

Resumen
This study examines the processes by which mothers communicate with their hearing and deaf preschool children during a problem-solving task. Mothers and children from three matched groups—hearing mother-hearing child, hearing mother-deaf child, and deaf mother-deaf child—were videotaped while the mother taught the child to assemble a wooden pyramid. Hearing mothers of deaf children were less likely to adapt their interactional strategies to meet their children's communicative needs and achieve intersubjectivity than were the other mothers. Findings support Vygotsky's dialectical notion of cognitive development.
