Lesage, Laurent. "Data analysis for insurance : recommendation system based on a Multivariate Hawkes Process". Electronic Thesis or Diss., Université de Lorraine, 2022. http://www.theses.fr/2022LORR0048.
Texto completoThe objective of the thesis is to build a recommendation system for insurance. By observing the behavior and the evolution of a customer in the insurance context, customers seem to modify their insurance cover when a significant event happens in their life. In order to take into account the influence of life events (e.g. marriage, birth, change of job) on the insurance covering selection from customers, we model the recommendation system with a Multivariate Hawkes Process, which includes several specific features aiming to compute relevant recommendations to customers from a Luxembourgish insurance company.Several of these features are intent to propose a personalized background intensity for each customer thanks to a Machine Learning model, to use triggering functions suited for insurance data or to overcome flaws in real-world data by adding a specific penalization term in the objective function. We define a complete framework of Multivariate Hawkes Processes with a Gamma density excitation function (i.e. estimation, simulation, goodness-of-fit) and we demonstrate some mathematical properties (i.e. expectation, variance) about the transient regime of the process. Our recommendation system has been back-tested over a full year. Observations from model parameters and results from this back-test show that taking into account life events by a Multivariate Hawkes Process allows us to improve significantly the accuracy of recommendations. The thesis is presented in 4 chapters. Chapter 1 explains how the background intensity of the Multivariate Hawkes Process is computed thanks to a Machine Learning algorithm, so that each customer has a personalized recommendation. Chapter 1 is shown an extended version of the method presented in "A Recommendation System For Car Insurance", in which the method is used to make the algorithm explainable. Chapter 2 presents a Multivariate Hawkes Processes framework in order to compute the dependency between the propensity to accept a recommendation and the occurrence of life events: definitions, notations, simulation, estimation, properties, etc. Chapter 3 presents several results of the recommendation system: estimated parameters of the model, effects of contributions, back-testing of the model's accuracy, etc. Chapter 4 presents the implementation of our work into a R package

Texto completoThe Web has become an universal platform for content hosting and distributed heterogeneous applications that can be accessed manually or automatically. In this context, Web services have established themselves as a key technology for deploying interactions across applications. The standard Web services technologies allow and facilitate the manual programming of these applications. To promote automatic programming based on Web services, a major problem arises : that of their discovery. Several approaches addressing this problem have been proposed in the literature. The aim of this thesis is to improve the Web services discovery process. We proposed three approaches. We proposed a Web services discovery approach that combines several matching techniques. The second consists on the validation of the services returned by an automatic process of discovery using users’ competencies. These approaches do not take into account the evolution of services over time and user preferences. To address these shortcomings, several approaches incorporate referral techniques to assist the discovery process. A large majority of these approaches are based on assessments of QoS properties. In practice, these assessments are rarely available. In other systems, trust relationships between users and services are used. These relationships are established based on invocations evaluations of similar services. However, invoking the same service do not necessarily mean having the same preferences. Hence, we propose, in our third approach, the use of the relations of interest between users to recommend services. The approach relies on modeling services’ ecosystem by database graphs

Texto completoGuideline-based decision support systems help improve physician’s practice. This work aimed at (I) model data related to patient’s clinical and therapeutic (II) represent therapeutic recommendations taking into account patient’s therapeutic-history and evolution state of the disease (III) design the execution engine using guideline rules and such patient data in real time. Treatment in our model is seen as set of drug and non-drug components. The treatment effectiveness is attributed to the whole but the tolerance is linked to every component. Recommendations are then represented according to the model by “if, then” rules, organized by type of treatment (ex: biotherapy) and by their role (ex: changing the treatment type). Execution engine uses these pathology-specific rules, coupled with a set of general strategies usable in all diseases. A prototype was implemented that was sufficiently fast to function in real time use and was tested on diabetes and hypertension. Its impact will be studied

Texto completoHow access to knowledge can be impacted by Information Technology? In the earlier 2000s, communication tools caused a significant turn : media convergence, participative practices and massive data. In this way, free access to knowledge might tend to be democratized. People seem to regain spaces, reversing traditional top-down model, going from producer to consumer, for the benefit of an horizontal model based on collective intelligence. However, it should not automatically be assumed that this leads to a simple model reversing. Collective intelligence is subject to cognitive biases, leading to potential irrational situations. Formerly, those social mechanisms had limited consequences. Nowadays, digital knowledge are massive communicating spaces, giving birth to new access paths and new cleavages. Why this massive and open knowledge, is actually so selective? I propose to explore this paradox. Massive and constant tracking of traces and individuals hyper-connection, these two facts help organizational structures design, where social dynamics are digitalized in a complex way. These structures formalize human trajectories. On this basis, computer scientists set up prediction algorithms and recommender engines. This way, knowledge access is automatized. It can then be asked about people governance, in this context of infrastructure submission: recording traces, designing knowledge structure and automating algorithms
