Resumen
E-services are services delivered over the Internet. Such services have different properties and dimensions, e.g. targeting different sectors, being accessible through different channels, or intended for frequent or infrequent use. Throughout this article the authors address e-services from a mobility perspective. They do this by 1) positioning mobile e-services within the research field; 2) reviewing related work on mobile e-services; and 3) presenting and examining existing challenges (both difficulties and opportunities) when combining mobility and e-services. They see mobile e-services as the next generation of internet-based services and discuss important focus areas and future directions, giving extra notion to challenges and opportunities in the areas of acceptance and adoption, availability anytime and anywhere, and co-operation. In turn, these areas potentially set the scene for enhanced e-participation.

Resumen
While the development of mobile services is experiencing a spectacular growth in many countries worldwide, existing regulatory regimes are ill equipped for dealing with them. In this paper, the authors use qualitative evidence to investigate the manner in which institutional regulatory factors, including legal, societal, and economic factors, can impact mobile services in the Australian mobile telecommunications industry. These factors are important as they shape both the nature of emerging mobile services and their diffusion trajectory. The investigation culminates with an innovative institutional regulatory framework that includes factors such as consumer and intellectual property protection, market and resources access. The authors argue that co-regulation, a mixture of direct monitoring and intervention of regulators through legislation and complete industry self-regulation, is an effective approach for regulating the mobile telecommunications industry. Given the complex and dynamic nature of this industry, co-regulation can minimize monitoring costs and enhance compliance.

Resumen
Purpose This paper aims to examine and identify important attributes for mobile applications (apps) that might dictate tourist preferences for the apps on a small island destination. Guided by the Task Technology Fit (TTF) theory, the study considers the tasks performed, technology characteristics and individuals’ characteristics in determining the mobile apps attribute set. Design/methodology/approach This study uses a conjoint methodology within a case study approach framework. The conjoint analysis allows for assessing preferences from different consumers regarding the objective characteristics of products or services that facilitate the optimal design of product development. Optimal product development is a challenge for destinations, as they strive to achieve and sustain optimal market positions. Mobile apps may empower destinations in this endeavor. The case study approach imparts a context-dependent knowledge that facilitates a more nuanced understanding of consumer preference of use. Findings The results of the conjoint analysis suggest a strategic mapping of the most important attributes including type of content information, coupons and location awareness in defining apps product development. Within each attribute, the study also identifies the significant characteristics of a mobile application that are preferred by tourists. This ranking exists irrespective of familiarity with the destination (first-time and repeat visitors). Research limitations/implications The implication is that revealed preferences anchored in conjoint analysis provide a powerful approach to optimize product development in a small island destination. From a practical perspective, the findings suggest that the developments of a mobile app for a destination must concentrate on fostering spending and consider the app as a new marketing channel. From a theoretical point of view, the current study highlights the usefulness of using the conjoint analysis and the TTF theory as an overarching framework in mapping a multi-attribute decision-making space that influences tourist judgment and preference of use. The conjoint method applied in the study enables researchers to clearly identify a combination of various mobile app attributes that are most influential on tourists’ choice and preference of use. The guiding framework, TTF theory, allows the conjoint product designs to go beyond the technology characteristics to include tasks performed by tourists and their individual characteristics. Originality/value This study is the first to apply a conjoint analysis within the TTF theoretical framework in the context of a small island destination when assessing tourists’ use preferences toward mobile applications, while at the same time investigating whether any differences exist between first-time and repeat visitors. The study demonstrates that complementing the nature of the task (traveling) with context-specific interface and interactive features is an important area of inquiry that can benefit from adopting conjoint analysis.

Resumen
Today, information and communication technology (ICTs) are influencing health system development across many developing countries, particularly through the application of mobile communications. As such, there has been an initiation of a new paradigm of mobile health services which has made healthcare delivery more accessible, affordable and effective. However, such service delivery platform has been mainly targeted towards the rural population, so there is growing concerns about its acceptance and future use intentions in the urban areas. The aim of this paper is to examine and critically assess the underlying factors that can influence future use intentions of mHealth services in the context of Bangladesh. The conceptual model of the study identifies that information quality, facilitating conditions, trust and effort expectancy plays an important role in capturing users' overall perceptions of mobile health services. Finally, the study highlights the managerial implications, future research directions and limitations from the perspective of Bangladesh.

Resumen
The vast emergence of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) lead governments to adopt the use of ICT to deliver services to their citizens, businesses, and government constituents. These services can be delivered via the Internet using web technology (e-government) in an interactive way like any other e-service. But with the advent and wide use of mobile technologies, governments transformed their mechanism in delivering service to utilize more the capabilities of mobile phones through the better employment of mobile government (m-government). M-government utilizes mobile technologies to better deliver services to citizens, but this enforces some challenges to both governments and the recipients of services. In this paper the authors addressed the challenges and opportunities of m-governments in terms of mobile services (m-services).

Resumen
The pervasive computing environment for heterogeneous network is on a continuous rise. The ability to interact and control network devices with different functionalities within office and home environment could be very beneficial to a lot of users. The service discovery in computers and mobile devices enabled them to interact with one another through wireless and heterogeneous wired networks. Services advertise their existence in a dynamic way and devices are designed with this capability to discover these services and its properties automatically. These devices are though based on different technologies but are still able to communicate and discover one another based on existing service discovery architectures. It is notable that a significant number of networked devices are now mobile and these mobile devices make service discovery more challenging. In future mobile multi-domain multi-language environments, a service can be anything and introduced by anybody. Consequently, same or equivalent services may have different names and services with same name or type may be completely different. Existing service discovery systems are incapable of handling these situations. We have implemented a service discovery system which supports semantics to service descriptions. It allows any user to act as a service provider and introduce any service at any time. The service provider can define any service as equivalent to any existing service and in any language as wanted. In addition, it is capable to find services that are not exact matches of the requested ones. More semantics are introduced through attributes like EquivalenceClass, ParentType and Keywords. The test conducted on this system in real time proves that the system is efficient and can be applied in real life.

Resumen
The master thesis is examining the possibilities to integrate a mobile unit in a portal service built on a service oriented architecture. A portal is an overall solution for the need of public web, intranet and extranet of an enterprise. The thesis starts off by identifying interesting business concepts for mobile units. Then a specific concept is chosen to be implemented as a smart client solution. On the way to the final prototype application areas such as occasionally connected clients, different technologies for the communication between the server and the client, and to a certain degree security issues are covered. The Microsoft .NET is used as developing environment with C# as the chosen programming language. Specifically for the programming of the mobile unit, a hybrid of a PDA and a mobile phone, Microsoft .NET Compact Framework is used. The thesis is the final examination of the Master of Science Program in Media Technology at Linköping University. The idea for the thesis was an initiative from Ibitec AB. The majority of the work was done during the fall of 2004 at their office.

The growth of connected devices, mostly due to the large number of internet of things IoT deployments and the emergence of mobile cloud services, introduces new challenges for the design of service architectures in mobile cloud computing MCC. An MCC framework should provide elasticity and scalability in a distributed and dynamic way while dealing with limited environment resources and variable mobile contexts web applications, real-time, enterprise services, mobile to mobile, hostile environment, etc. that may include additional constraints impacting the design foundation of cloud services. We show in this thesis how service-oriented architecture SOA can be a key solution to provide distributed mobile cloud services and how OSGi platform can be an adaptive and efficient framework to provide such implementation. We adapt the proposed MCC framework to different architecture contexts. The first one is a traditional centric model, where mobile devices are reduced to consuming services. The second one is a distributed model where the power of mobile-to-mobile interaction offers unlimited value-services opportunities, and finally, three-tier architecture is considered with the introduction of the cloudlet notion. For each context, we explore the performance of our service-oriented framework, and contrast it with alternative existing solutions

Resumen
The mobile era is well established and the number of smartphone users is showing exponential growth. The capability of smartphones and enabling technologies is also increasing and has opened many possibilities of personalized mobile services. The goal of personalization is to support the user by providing the right service at the rightmoment. Early focus of personalization was on content adaptations in different information systems. The new approaches of personalization are still needed for mobileservices as it is a compelling feature of mobile communication systems for both endusers and service providers.Personalization is providing a means of fulfilling users’ needs more effectively andefficiently and, consequently increasing users’ satisfaction. By providing successfulpersonalization, a high degree of user satisfaction and a pleasant user experience can beachieved. Some features of personalization can cause problems and may outweigh thebenefits of personalization. This thesis has focused on how to achieve scrutable mobile client-side personalizationwhile keeping the user’s privacy. The issue of privacy in personalization of mobileservices can be reduced by shifting the control of their personal information towards theusers. Our research goal is to understand and improve the personalization process anddevelop an architecture for scrutable mobile client-side personalization while keepingthe user s’ privacy. Moreover, there is a need to develop an evaluation framework tomeasure the effectiveness of mobile services personalization. A design science researchmethodology is adopted in this research work. More particular contributions of thethesis are as follows: C1: Identifications of the research issues and challenges in personalization of mobileservices. C2: An approach for delivering personalized mobile services. C3: Development of mobile client-side personalization architecture. C4: Development of mobile services Personalization Evaluation Model. C5: Identification of the prospects of scrutable personalization of mobile services.

Resumen
Abstract. The growing age of populations brings widespread problems for a range of services, including health care services. Another challenge is the areas of dispersed settlement and decreasing population in rural areas. Urbanization and movement to the larger cities after employment, education, and services has led to decreasing the services in the remote areas even further. In the changing needs of the requirements and challenges of health care entities the use of mobile health care services may provide many benefits to the systems to develop flexible and adjustable health services to citizens. With the help of mobile health care services, the requirements of ever-changing service needs may be responded more efficiently than traditional onsite health care centers. The purpose of this study is to understand the opportunities of user-centric service design and practices in the design processes of mobile health care services. In the future, mobile health care services may potentially be a medium for implementing the health and social service delivery as one of the standard mediums in order to reduce inconsistencies between habitant areas in Finland. By designing user-centric services with methods that leave room for ongoing development and improvement of mobile health care services. The nature of the study is a qualitative case study. The research phenomenon is approached by semi-structured interviews, to define practicalities in the planning of a mobile health care services. The target group of the interview is particularly chosen participants from representative organizations from both private and public health sector. The results of the study confirm the adaptability of user-centric service design in mobile health care services. It also reveals many practical aspects regarding the design process and the possibilities in co-design activities. More precisely, this study suggests that the user of the service can be included in all stages of service design process of mobile health care services in several ways — from defining the need to the implementation and ongoing development. The user-centricity in the context of this study means the users of the service that are involved in the service operations along its way — including employees and other encounters to the service. The results of the study contribute to the model of service design by assessing its suitability to designing mobile health care services with user-centric approach, and gathering concrete practices of those methods.

Resumen
Although many cities are promoting urban cycling, they do not analyse behavioural patterns or barriers faced during cycling with geospatial technologies. This thesis, placed within the fields of geoinformatics and serious games, aims to help both citizens and cities to better understand cyclist behaviour and mobility patterns. We analyse how the incentives of geo-games might increase urban cycling engagement and, through this engagement, crowdsource cycling data collection and comprehend cycling patterns. We designed a between-groups experiment to measure the impact of virtual rewards provided by a geo-game on the levels of intention, satisfaction, and engagement with cycling. Then, to identify the frictions which potentially inhibit bicycle commuting, we analysed the bicycle trips crowdsourced with the geo-game.The results support the use of collaboration-based rewards in game-based applications to promote urban cycling and describe 284 places potentially having frictions in three European cities. This thesis encompasses the cyclist and city perspectives of using mobile technologies to crowdsource cycling data collection and analyse urban cycling.

Mobile devices are becoming widely common today. As the number of mobile devices continue to grow all around the world, its functionality is extending and mobile technologies are gaining more popularity in every aspect of our life. Today, wide range of mobile services is offered to people. The purpose of our study is examining the customer value of mobile services for individuals or citizens. A value model for mobile services has been proposed with five dimensions: Functional Value, Social Value, Emotional Value, Epistemic Value and Economic Value. The effect on each value dimension on Intention to Use (ITU) is aimed to be determined. A survey instrument for mobile Internet services and short message services (SMS) has been developed to validate the proposed model. After assuring the reliability of instrument with a pilot study, data was collected from 303 people working in information and communication technologies (ICT) sector in Turkey. For analyzing proposed model variance-based structural equation modeling (partial least squares) was used. Before evaluating model, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted to indentify underlying constructs. Based on EFA results, Functional Value was found to have sub-dimensions namely: Ubiquity Value, Performance Value and Security Value. The measurement model was analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The structural model was analyzed using predictive power. For both mobile Internet and SMS, moderate predictive power has been gathered. Finally, the effect of each value dimension on intention to use (ITU) has been evaluated. Ubiquity Value, Performance Value and Epistemic Value have significant effect on ITU for mobile Internet. On the other hand, Economic Value and Performance Value have significant effect on ITU The indications of this research will be valuable for providing information about customer value of current mobile services.

Resumen
Digital financial inclusion is important to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Digital financial tools, such as mobile money, can, in principle, be used by anyone with a cell phone. Mobile money and services surrounding mobile money can help reduce poverty by helping increase remittances from labour migrants, helping households to weather negative shocks to income, and encouraging investments such as in farms or in self-employment activities. An extension of this logic is that, in refugee hosting areas, digital financial inclusion through mobile money can potentially play a role in improving the economic inclusion of refugees. This evidence brief shares findings from a project developing a mobile money system in the Somali region of Ethiopia and discusses ways that policies can help catalyse the use of mobile money in such regions.

Resumen
Many people argue that mobile money has the potential to increase financial inclusion and improve the livelihoods of poor people in Africa. However, while many African governments impose specific taxes on mobile money transactions, very little is known about their effect on the use of mobile money services. This study assesses the short- and long-term impact of the tax on money transfer fees that the Kenyan government introduced in 2013. The tax, more specifically an excise duty, was imposed on fees incurred in all money transactions, including mobile money. It was introduced at 10 per cent and increased to 12 per cent in 2018. Our analysis has two parts. We use country-level data to see if the tax affected the use of mobile money – transaction values and volume – and the number of active mobile money agents. In addition, we use four rounds of nationally representative survey data to estimate changes in the use of mobile money after introduction of the tax. We find that the excise duty did not have a significant impact on different aggregated indicators relating to the use of mobile money. However, survey data shows that the tax may have reduced the rate of increase in use of mobile money services affected by the changes in tax, such as sending and receiving money, compared to services that were not, like savings and paying bills. Importantly, while the amounts transacted may not change, users send and receive money within households less regularly. In addition, the tax seems to have a more detrimental impact on poorer households, which were less likely to be financially included before the tax was introduced. Larger households also show more negative effects after the tax. URI

Resumen
Digital financial services like mobile money are increasingly prevalent in developing countries as an alternative to traditional financial services. For many governments, they have become critical components of domestic revenue mobilisation, tax administration modernisation, and broader tax reform. However, making tax administration more efficient and maximising voluntary compliance is a very difficult task. The existing literature on the relationship between mobile money and tax performance in developing countries is limited, although it does show the potential of mobile money to improve tax performance. This paper aims to fill the gap by investigating the relationship between mobile money and the quality of tax policy and administration in developing economies and highlighting some mechanisms underlying these findings, including a lower tax compliance burden, a smaller informal sector, and lower corruption.
