Resumen
The purpose of this article is an analysis of the cultural integration of the Ukrainian and Vietnamese immigrants who have the right of residence in Poland and of their strategy for adaption. The subject of the survey included such issues as the attitudes of the immigrants to their own culture and to Polish culture; the degree of cultural integration measured by their knowledge of the Polish language; contacts with Polish society and selected collective cultural characteristics (e.g. the level of social trust and the willingness to cooperate on the basis of ethnic ties) which affect the strategy for adaption. Marital relations are also taken into account (mixed and unmixed), the sex and age of the immigrants (especially the age at which the immigrants embarked on their cultural integration) and their attitudes to cultural integration. The article discusses the differences between the levels of cultural integration of the two groups and the consequences of such differences. The author argues that a strategy of assimilation predominates among the Ukrainians, while one of integration dominates among the Vietnamese.

Resumen
The social representations presented approach digital pedagogy as problematic. This is not to say that the technologies are problematic but rather to recognize that their integration into universities in Côte dIvoire raises questions of primary importance. The study focuses on the reserved or unfavorable opinions of students regarding digital university pedagogy. The approach is to highlight the factors of possible reluctance and to propose remedial measures in order to obtain positive changes in students behaviors in the era of digital university pedagogy. This investigation is part of an empirical-theoretical approach and is based on the critical theories of digital education and on Maio and Olsons (2000) model of behavior change, because, persuasion results from exposure to a communication. The data of the survey is the result of a mixed approach (quantitative method through a questionnaire and qualitative method through focus group) on a total sample of one hundred (100) students from two public universities. The social polemics around the digital pedagogy are translated by reticences related to the digital divide, presuppositions on the university considered as an ideological and hegemonic company.

Resumen
ABSTRACT This paper examines how firms design performance measurement systems (PMSs) to support the pursuit of mixed strategies. In particular, we examine the implications of firms' joint strategic emphasis on both low cost and differentiation for their use of performance measurement and incentive compensation. Analysis of survey data of 387 firms shows that more than half of the sample to some extent or fully mixes strategic priorities, while strategic priorities resembling strategic archetypes (primarily low cost or differentiation) populate only 36 percent of the sample. Our analyses support that, as compared to archetypal strategies, pursuing mixed strategies elicits design of more comprehensive and complex PMSs that are aimed at balancing effort and decisions toward the multiple strategies pursued.

Resumen
We introduce a new solution concept, called periodicity, for selecting optimal strategies in strategic form games. This periodicity solution concept yields new insight into nontrivial games. In mixed strategy strategic form games, periodic solutions yield values for the utility function of each player that are equal to the Nash equilibrium ones. In contrast to the Nash strategies, here the payoffs of each player are robust against what the opponent plays. Sometimes, periodicity strategies yield higher utilities, and sometimes the Nash strategies do, but often the utilities of these two strategies coincide. We formally define and study periodic strategies in two player perfect information strategic form games with pure strategies and we prove that every nontrivial finite game has at least one periodic strategy, with nontrivial meaning nondegenerate payoffs. In some classes of games where mixed strategies are used, we identify quantitative features. Particularly interesting are the implications for collective action games, since there the collective action strategy can be incorporated in a purely noncooperative context. Moreover, we address the periodicity issue when the players have a continuum set of strategies available.

Resumen
A mixed dual to the Nash equilibrium is defined for n-person games in strategic form. In a Nash equilibrium every player’s mixed strategy maximizes his own expected payoff for the other n-1 players’ strategies. Conversely, in the dual equilibrium every n-1 players have mixed strategies that maximize the remaining player’s expected payoff. Hence this dual equilibrium models mutual support and cooperation to extend the Berge equilibrium from pure to mixed strategies. This dual equilibrium is compared and related to the mixed Nash equilibrium, and both topological and algebraic conditions are given for the existence of the dual. Computational issues are discussed, and it is shown that for each n>2 there exists a game for which no dual equilibrium exists.

Resumen
In many multiagent domains a set of agents exert effort towards a joint outcome, yet the individual effort levels cannot be easily observed. A typical example for such a scenario is routing in communication networks, where the sender can only observe whether the packet reached its destination, but often has no information about the actions of the intermediate routers, which influences the final outcome. We study a setting where a principal needs to motivate a team of agents whose combination of hidden efforts stochastically determines an outcome. In a companion paper we devise and study a basic ''combinatorial agency'' model for this setting, where the principal is restricted to inducing a pure Nash equilibrium. Here we study various implications of this restriction. First, we show that, in contrast to the case of observable efforts, inducing a mixed-strategies equilibrium may be beneficial for the principal. Second, we present a sufficient condition for technologies for which no gain can be generated. Third, we bound the principal's gain for various families of technologies. Finally, we study the robustness of mixed equilibria to coalitional deviations and the computational hardness of the optimal mixed equilibria.

Resumen
AbstractIn corporate valuation, it is common to assume either passive or active debt management. However, it is questionable whether these pure financing policies reflect the real financing policies of firms with a sufficient degree of accuracy. This shortcoming has led to the development of mixed financing strategies as combinations of pure financing strategies. Whereas hybrid financing is directly linked to the two-phase model, it is unclear how to apply discontinuous financing in such a setting. In this study, according to the two versions of hybrid financing, we analyze the implementation of discontinuous financing in a two-phase model. Thereby, we present a simpler and more intuitive derivation of the valuation equation for discontinuous financing to increase its acceptance and its use for corporate valuation practice. Moreover, we compare the different mixed financing strategies with each other theoretically, and we conduct simulations to elucidate the impact on market values and the sensitivities of input parameters. The study concludes that the presented mixed financing strategies can help in the attempt to reflect the real financing behavior of firms more accurately and, therefore, constitute a valuable alternative to pure financing strategies for valuation.

Resumen
Internationalization drives and export orientation are prominent in the organizational strategies of a number of leading Indian firms and multinationals located in India. This is a significant indicator of the growing competitiveness of firms, industries, and the nation. This paper examines the sources of competitive advantage in a few selected sectors and firms and explores the internationalization possibilities and potential. International marketing strategies are complex and tend to vary widely across nations, industries, and firms. The elements that form the ingredients of international strategies are numerous and their importance is tightly interwoven to contexts. With a view to enrich the existing body of international marketing theory, the authors investigate the international marketing strategies adopted in 12 different business sectors in India in an attempt to explore and explain the similarities and differences found in this varied set of industries. The examples span the old economy industries such as the assembly and manufacturing enterprises that are both skill-and capital-intensive and also the new economy sectors that are information-intensive. This study is exploratory in nature and offers a classification scheme using case research methodology, grounded theory approach, and modeling techniques. The five-cluster classification (visual map) may prove to be useful in many strategic and tactical ways. This classification scheme or typology can influence both the design and the execution of international marketing strategies. This schema may also offer empirical support to strategic management theories that focus on diversification into related businesses downstream. Another key contribution of the paper is the application of a combination of methodologies that yields new insights. A third contribution is the formulation of a link to quantification and modeling to enable qualitative researchers to lend analytical rigour in their attempts at theory generation. On the practical front, marketers can leverage the understanding gained from using the classification scheme contained in this study in designing and implementing international marketing strategies by paying appropriate attention to important dimensions in order to achieve desired outcomes. A few managerial implications of the study are as follows: International marketing requires a multi-faceted strategic approach. Continuous value creation and delivery should be the focus of strategies. Flexibility is as important as commitment. The 12 variables identified in the study should be examined to look for harmonious balance and their ability to continue to provide competitive edge. Thinking in terms of the 12 variables and/or their underlying dimensions individually and collectively while formulating and implementing international marketing strategies can help managers uncover the similarities and differences across business sectors. The suggested typology helps in revealing connections that bind businesses across disparate sectors using a holistic approach that encompasses different aspects of international marketing strategies.

Resumen
Abstract The growth of Aphelenchoides sp. populations was investigated in vitro with 17 different fungal species as food source. Nematode mass cultures were obtained with saprophytic (Agrocybe, Chaetomium) and especially with mycorrhizal fungi (Cenococcum, Hymenoscyphus, Laccaria). Mitosporic species, like Alternaria, Monocillium or Penicillium, were generally meagre or non-hosts. This poor host suitability is likely due to the release of toxic metabolites (e.g. antibiotics) and/or to morphological differences (e.g., forming of conidiophores) by the fungi. Frequent grazing of nematodes on mycorrhizal mycelia may be of major significance for the establishment and maintenance of mycorrhizal associations in the field. Food preference of Aphelenchoides sp. was tested in choice chamber experiments. Nematodes showed a marked preference for particular fungal species. They changed food source with time, indicating a “mixed diet” selection, probably a strategy to avoid the concentration of toxic metabolites. The attractiveness of a fungus was not necessarily correlated with its suitability as a host. That a poor fungal host can be a strong nematode attractant and influence their spatial distribution in the soil has implications for nematode populations in the field.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate systematic application of grounded theory to understand strategic agility in knowledge-based companies (KBCs) in Iran and to explain relationships between them.Methodology: This study uses mixed methods research to explore the determinants of strategic agility in KBCs. This study uses mixed methods approach. Qualitative analysis using “Paradigm model” of grounded theory for data analysis. In Quantitative stage, Structural equation modeling with partial least square is used.Findings: The results of the first phase of the study revealed that causal conditions affecting strategic agility were organizational and environmental factors. As well, intervening conditions included Facilitating and Deterring role of intrinsic attributes of companies; and contextual conditions encompassed Limiting and Encouraging factors. Moreover, strategies and practices were comprised of Extra-organizational and Intra-organizational practices and consequences of strategic agility were consequences at macro and organizational level. The results of the quantitative study, as the second phase, correspondingly confirmed factors identified at the qualitative phase and demonstrated that the casual conditions explain 58.2% of the variance in strategic agility, the three independent constructs explain 72.9% of the variance in strategies, and the strategies explains 59.1% of the variance of consequences.Research limitations: This study was developed on the basis of opinions of a limited number of individuals which could reduce theoretical generalizability of the results. Another limitation is that the research data are limited to KBCs in Iran.Value: The results of this study would theoretically complement the body of knowledge about KBCs which can be cited in future research. Furthermore, the mixed methods approach offers a better insight in understanding strategic agility in KBCs vs the use of either a qualitative or quantitative method alone.

Resumen
This research examined the role of strategic and automatic processing in the acquisition of cognitive skill. These factors were dissociated by manipulating the predictability of Consistently Mapped (CM) and Variably Mapped (VM) stimuli in a memory search task. In blocked CM and VM conditions, subjects could choose different strategies for each condition. However, in mixed CM and VM conditions, the subjects had no basis for choosing differential strategies. Subjects who received mixed training exhibited less skilled performance than subjects who received blocked training. Moreover, transfer conditions revealed what appears to be a critical interval for learning to use differential strategies. The implications for part-task training are discussed.

Resumen
This study investigated the vocabulary strategies of n = 241 mixed-L1, adult study abroad learners of English in informal (i.e. out-of-class) second language (L2) contact. A questionnaire determined the extent to which the sample identified with 28 vocabulary strategies. The Opportunities With Language Simulator, an innovative research tool comprising computer simulations of informal L2 contact scenarios, was used as a stimulus in semi-structured interviews with a subsample of n = 36 participants. The questionnaire data revealed that the strategies most identified with pertained to the use of new words/phrases. These strategies were applicable in multiple scenarios and available to a range of different learners. The interview data exposed a wealth of contextual factors (e.g. physical setting) and learner-specific features (e.g.) perceptions of the L2 culture) that influenced whether/how vocabulary strategies were employed. A conceptual model of influencing factors on strategic behavior in informal L2 contact is posited, and recommendations made for future research.

Resumen
In this paper, we consider a pure exchange economy with a finite number of agents who behave strategically on endowments. A notion of strategic equilibrium with partial disposability is defined and it is shown the existence of mixed strategies equilibria. Purification results on the strategic equilibrium are obtained by considering a Walrasian endowment game with incomplete information. Finally, we obtain an asymptotic result by replicating the economy.
