Resumen
Abstract Background Antibiotic stewardship programs (ASPs) in acute care hospitals reduce unnecessary antibiotic use and attendant complications. In the state of Missouri, all hospitals are required to have an ASP. Additionally, the Joint Commission mandates ASP implementation for accreditation based on core elements defined by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). No studies have evaluated the uptake of ASP since the Missouri state law and Joint Commission mandate. Furthermore, data are limited examining barriers to implementation across hospitals with variable resources. We evaluated ASP uptake across Missouri hospitals, assessed differences in program complexity, and identified facilitators and barriers to implementation. Methods A 94-question survey was administered electronically in the spring of 2019 to 130 Missouri hospitals. Information was collected regarding implementation details of CDC-defined ASP core elements and tools used to overcome implementation barriers. Results were self-reported by the stewardship pharmacist, the director of pharmacy, or the person most familiar with antimicrobial stewardship if the former were not available. Results Preliminary results have been collected from 37 hospitals ranging in size from 15 to 1303 beds (IQR: 54, 274). 16% were critical access hospitals. 54% of hospitals had ASPs adherent to all 7 CDC core elements. Another 27% had implemented 6 of the core elements, with all of those reporting that they lacked a single pharmacist leader. All facilities had implemented at least some measures to improve antibiotic use, ranging from 4 to 13 measures. 45% of programs used state-based antimicrobial stewardship collaboratives, and 52% of those found such programs to be “very” or “extremely” useful. Conclusion All hospitals surveyed are performing ASP activities in concordance with Missouri state law. However, only half contain the 7 core elements required by the Joint Commission. Furthermore, ASP implementation and activities vary widely. While physician leadership was commonly defined, appropriate pharmacist support was frequently lacking. State-based collaboratives are the most widely used resource, and at least half who use them find them to be helpful. Disclosures All authors: No reported disclosures.

Resumen
This paper reviews a considerable number of cases concerning the application of State aid rules to the EU banking sector. The relevance of the financial crisis which hit the lending industry in the ?90s determined the Commission to a significant number of State aid reviews of national measures in support of the sector. Following the deep restructuring of the lending industry in the EU and the complete liberalisation of the financial services market, State aid to support the banking sector has become less frequent. However, State intervention has not disappeared but takes more complex forms. The Commission tackles now State intervention both in the form of capital injections and guarantees granted to restructure individual banks or an entire banking sector. The Commission also investigates fiscal advantages, guarantees and tax preferences conferred on a limited number of banks for distributing savings products. EU Member States appear engaged in a new regulatory race to the bottom in the form of preferential tax regimes for financial holdings compared to more "traditional" and direct forms of State aid to national banks and financial intermediaries involving rescue and restructuring assistance to ailing national champions, or granting of State guarantees to the national banks. We expect that in the near future the Commission will increasingly monitor the existing preferential tax regimes to eliminate possible competition distortions resulting from State aid and will also ensure that capital injections and other forms of public support to public financial institutions are immune from State intervention.

Resumen
An unlicensed station in St. Louis, Missouri, that rebroadcast material from other, licensed, stations soon came to the attention of the Federal Radio Commission, and owner George W. Fellowes found himself forced to challenge the right of the state to control the air. Fellowes' court-appointed attorney argued the government should not restrict the right of citizens to use airwaves; a U.S. District Court found differently, based on the Radio Act of 1927. Fellowes was given the choice of a year in jail—a stiff sentence to set an example—or deportation. He choose deportation. The argument of free citizen access to airwaves surfaces from time to time, but never for long.

Resumen
Kansas State University and University of Missouri Extension educators have been providing training and information on agricultural water microbial quality to help produce growers reduce risk. However, we recognized the need to determine knowledge gaps among Kansas and Missouri growers related to agricultural water quality and best practices. A survey was developed to determine future extension outputs and activities to encourage growers to improve their practices related to water quality. The survey was distributed to Kansas and Missouri produce growers attending in-person or online produce-related events in late 2020 and early 2021 and was also distributed through email lists of produce growers from both states. Survey results (n = 101) indicate that 13.9% of the respondents tested their water for generic Escherichia coli more than once a year, whereas 38.6% of the participants had never tested their water. Approximately half (59.3%) of respondents indicated they used municipal water for postharvest uses, whereas 6.7% indicated the use of untreated surface water for postharvest activities. To address potential water contamination risks, researchers suggest that further training and educational resources would help growers improve practices related to water quality and produce safety.

Resumen
ABSTRACT The Asian longhorned tick, Haemaphysalis longicornis, is an invasive species, originally from eastern Asia, and was first reported in the USA in New Jersey. It is now reported in several eastern states. In 2018, researchers reported H. longicornis in northwest Arkansas (Benton County). This tick species is a proven vector of livestock and human diseases, which prompted the current survey of ticks in southwest Missouri. A tick drag in Greene County, Missouri, produced 2 H. longicornis nymphs on June 9, 2021. This is the first report of this species for both the state and county.

AbstractSoybean consultants from Arkansas, Louisiana, southeast Missouri, Mississippi, and Tennessee were surveyed in 2016 to assess weed management practices and the prevalence of herbicide-resistant weeds in midsouthern U.S. soybean production. The consultants surveyed represented 13%, 28%, 8%, 16%, and 5% of the total soybean area planted in Arkansas, Louisiana, southeast Missouri, Mississippi, and Tennessee, respectively. Of the total scouted area, 78% of the consultants said their growers planted glyphosate-resistant soybean in 2016, with 18% planting glufosinate-resistant (LibertyLink®), primarily due to familiarity with and cost of the technology. Although 94% of the consultants determined that glufosinate was most effective on killing Palmer amaranth, the primary concern associated with controlling herbicide-resistant weeds was the associated cost, followed by return profit and time constraints. Palmer amaranth, morningglory species, horseweed, barnyardgrass, and Italian ryegrass were the five most problematic weeds in soybean across the five states. Palmer amaranth was the most problematic and important weed in each state individually. The increased concern (77% of consultants) with this species was attributed to the rising concern with and occurrence of protoporphyrinogen oxidase–resistant Palmer amaranth. Consultants were of the opinion that more research was needed on cover crops and the new traited technologies in order to improve weed management in soybean.

Resumen
Abstract A qualitative survey was electronically distributed to practicing veterinarians in the state of Missouri to evaluate the frequency of use and economic impact of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) for the treatment of osteoarthritis (OA) in dogs in Missouri. The survey response rate was 10% (89/867). Approximately half (43%) of respondents had LLLT units, of which all used LLLT for OA treatment in dogs. In respondents without LLLT units, 20% referred patients for LLLT OA treatment. Training was most often obtained in-house by a representative of the LLLT unit manufacturer (76%). Treatment dose was largely unknown and chosen by predetermined settings on the LLLT unit (65%). In the majority of patients (84%), no treatment site preparation was performed. An average of four patients with OA were treated per wk with an average cost per treated joint of $28 (range: $15–45). This study provides insight into the current clinical use and estimated annual economic impact ($6.2 million per year) of treating a single OA joint in dogs with LLLT by Missouri veterinarians. The frequency with which LLLT is used in the treatment of OA combined with the variation in training and treatment protocols supports the need for further research regarding the application and efficacy of LLLT in dogs with OA.

Resumen
<em>Abstract</em>.—The White River Fisheries Partnership (WRFP) was formed as an interstate and interagency partnership along the Missouri–Arkansas border beginning in 2001. Reservoir resource managers, interested in continuing efforts to enhance sport fish populations in the White River reservoirs, came together through the partnership as a natural extension of their earlier efforts to coordinate fisheries management in shared waters along the border. The partnership originally included representatives of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bass Pro Shops and Tracker Marine, Inc. and members of their professional angling staffs, the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, the Southwestern Power Administration, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism, the Missouri Division of Tourism, the U.S. Geological Survey, and the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality. Other local and regional stakeholders have participated in the partnership as it has developed. The primary purpose of the WRFP has been to establish common and achievable objectives designed to enhance recreational fishing using opportunities developed through a federal, state, and private partnership. A common set of objectives and expectations has been developed and is presented in this paper. Communication between biological, technical, and administrative elements in each partnering organization has improved over the years. As public interests and expectations in regard to reservoirs and their tailwaters change over time, the partnering agencies will revisit strategies and adjust their efforts to address these changes. Multifaceted collaboration efforts such as the WRFP require time and long-term commitments from the partners if they are to continue to be successful and reach their established objectives.

Resumen
In 2015, Zika emerged as a vector-borne disease in the Americas, causing a variety of health issues ranging from Guillain-Barre syndrome in adults to microcephaly in newborns. Following the documentation of mosquito-borne transmission of the disease in the southern United States, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services contracted with researchers at Missouri State University to complete a survey of possible mosquito vectors of the Zika in the state. The primary vector of the disease, Aedes aegypti, had been reported from Missouri in previous surveys from several decades ago, but a comprehensive survey of the state mosquitoes and never been completed. Researchers focused on mosquitoes that spend the immature stages in artificial containers because this is descriptive of the most important Zika vectors. The large survey over three years provided an opportunity for post hoc analysis of mosquito occurrence data across a variety of ecoregions inside the state, documenting changes in the vector populations as a result of invasive species. The survey also allowed an analysis of different trapping techniques for important species in the state. The results are reported in this chapter along with a discussion of the potential impact on human health of changes to the mosquito population.

Resumen
Abstract When Geoffrey Elton wrote his survey of the sixteenth-century English state, The Tudor Constitution, his emphasis lay firmly on its institutions and machinery. Crown and council, parliament, Star Chamber, even the court of high commission, all took precedence over personalities; and for Elton, his chosen topics were definitively ‘the ones that matter’. Local government was relegated to a rather brief final chapter. Elton was less interested in the devolution of royal power in the provinces, although he noted the administrative importance of Tudor justices of the peace, and subsequently produced in Policy and Police an incisive analysis of the enforcement of Henry VIII’s reformation.1 Outside their role in parliament, the nobility and gentry barely appear in The Tudor Constitution.

Resumen
Academics and University Extension personnel have experience with soil mapping and providing soil suitability interpretations; however, a more efficient information conveyance to land custodians is desired to support informative land management applications. In the USA each state, in concert with the United States Department of Agriculture, has embarked on developing an online format linking soil survey with ecological site descriptions to provide information for forest and rangeland management to encourage soil protection - health and optimizing ecological services on individual land parcels. In this Missouri-based manuscript, we discuss three cases where soils and their associated ecological site descriptions provide land custodians information concerning their logical reference state vegetation community and detail land management decisions that transform the reference vegetation community to a different vegetation community. With each case, landscapes and their associated vegetations communities are potentially partitioned by soil, physiography, hydrology, and other attributes.

In 2009, the U.S. Department of Education published an Action Guide for Emergency Management at Institutions of Higher Education (U.S. Department of Education, 2009). In 2006, the Virginia State Crime Commission issued a prescient “Final Report: Study on Campus Safety (HJR 122)” regarding Virginia’s colleges and universities (Virginia State Crime Commission, 2006). Gray (2009) provided results from a “Columbine 10-Year Anniversary Survey”, which reviewed recent campus safety improvements of 435 K-12 and university respondents. From the three documents, prescribed campus safety activities were identified that could be consistently found in the stated programs and policies on university websites. Of these activities, 18 separate criteria upon which a university’s online emergency preparedness/safety/security messages could be evaluated through content analysis were conceptualized (coding: 1= school has criterion, 0= does not), to estimate the quality of the overall preparedness message of each institution in the small sample (n = 99) of universities, representing all 50 states in 2010.

Resumen
In 1907, Crystal Eastman began a temporary job investigating industrial accidents with the Pittsburgh Survey, a comprehensive study of urban industrial life organized by Paul Kellogg and Edward Devine, financed by the newly formed Russell Sage Foundation. The project involved established leaders, such as Florence Kelley and John R. Commons, as well as young visual artists, including Lewis Hine and Joseph Stella, and brought a new generation of educated women into professional work in social welfare. Eastman’s study, later published as Work Accidents and the Law (1910), resulted in her appointment by Governor Charles Evans Hughes to chair New York’s new commission on employer liability in 1909. There, she proposed to overhaul common law standards, shifting to a no-fault distribution of risk and loss shared by workers, businesses, and consumers. The resulting legislation failed a constitutional challenge in 1911 but laid the groundwork for successful workers’ compensation laws in New York State and elsewhere.

Resumen
<i>Abstract</i>.—The Paddlefish <i>Polyodon spathula</i> has been identified and characterized disparately by commercial harvesters, anglers, managers, and the public, from a rough fish, to a food fish, to a trophy sport fish, to one of North America’s most economically valuable and evolutionarily irreplaceable fish species. It is most commonly harvested with recreational fishing methods often used only for low-valued species, including snagging (the most common method) and archery since adults are primarily filter feeders and thus not susceptible to more traditional angling methods used for sport or game fishes. The prevalence of recreational snagging throughout the Mississippi and Missouri basins increased greatly over the period 1950–1975, associated with impoundment of upper Mississippi and Missouri mainstem and tributary reaches. More Paddlefish became accessible to snaggers below dams as spawning and feeding migrations were impeded and fish aggregated in tailwaters. The variability of legal and administrative classifications of Paddlefish and differing perceptions of the species by harvesters, managers, and the public have resulted in a fish with a complex identity. While Paddlefish in the past have been petitioned for federal listing under the Endangered Species Act, to date they have not been listed. Recreational fisheries management strategies, goals, and objectives have varied widely, perhaps understandably, since the species is managed at the state level. To assess the current situation, we administered an electronic survey to state Paddlefish managers from each of the 25 current and former range states, requesting information on Paddlefish status, regulations, perceptions, and management strategies. The legal and administrative classification of Paddlefish by each state remains the primary factor in how they are managed, and we identified several regional management strategies. Paddlefish regulations continue to evolve based on new research findings and stock assessments. The most impactful regulatory changes have been the development of limited entry Paddlefish fisheries requiring the purchase of a special Paddlefish permit and three instances where recreational fisheries and stock assessments are supported in part by voluntary roe-donation programs. Management of Paddlefish across the Mississippi Basin at biologically relevant or regional scales remains the most rational and desirable long-term goal.

Resumen
This chapter examines the development of the United Nations in three different time periods in the postwar era in the Arab world. The first was from the 1950s to the 1970s, which witnessed the rise of the developmental state in several parts of the Arab world and coincided with the rise of the Third World Movement in the Global South, when developing countries came together to demand political and economic reforms as well as nuclear disarmament. The second period spanned the late 1970s to 2010, which witnessed state retrenchment and rising poverty and inequality alongside persistent authoritarianism and increased imperial intervention. The third period is marked by the dawn of the Arab uprisings that swept the Middle East and North Africa region. In each of the three eras a different UN report is referenced: the 1949 “United Nations Economic Survey Mission for the Middle East,” the 2002 Arab Human Development Report, and the Economic and Social Commission for West Asia's Arab Integration report.

Resumen
<em>Abstract</em>.—Paddlefish <em>Polyodon spathula </em>were stocked by state and federal hatcheries throughout their range in the Mississippi River basin to (1) restore extirpated populations, (2) mitigate for habitat loss, and (3) support recreational fishing. The objectives of this paper were to review current and past paddlefish stocking by states to determine the objectives and criteria for stocking, parameters of the stocking (e.g., rates, sizes, etc.), and growth and dispersal of stocked paddlefish so agencies can use this information to make better informed decisions about future paddlefish stocking. In 2006, a questionnaire was sent to each state agency in the paddlefish range to determine each agency’s stocking costs and effort. Results from this survey were supplemented with data collected as part of the Mississippi Interstate Cooperative Resource Association (MICRA) Paddlefish Stock Assessment Program to assess stocking efforts and strategies in the Mississippi River basin. Four states on the edges of the paddlefish’s range stock fish to restore extirpated populations. Missouri and South Dakota stock fish to mitigate natural reproduction where large dams on historic paddlefish rivers limit spawning. While stocking decisions were made by each agency independently, all paddlefish stocking agencies participated in the MICRA Paddlefish Stock Assessment Program. Most stocked fish were marked with uniquely labeled coded-wire tags to monitor fish movement and recaptures. More than 2.2 million paddlefish have been stocked from 14 states from 1988 to 2007. State and federal agencies have spent more than $10.7 million maintaining paddlefish populations through stocking since 1988. Paddlefish stocking will continue to play an integral role in the conservation and management of paddlefish as efforts to maintain sport fisheries and restore native populations continue.

Resumen
The remediation and decommissioning of the Hematite Former Fuel Cycle Facility (FFCF), the Hematite Facility, is currently being carried out by Westinghouse Electric Company LLC under the Hematite Decommissioning Project (HDP). The Hematite Facility is located near the town of Hematite, Missouri, USA. The Hematite Facility consists of 228 acres of land with primary operations historically being conducted within the central portion of the property that is roughly 10 acres including Burial Pits and the Site Pond area. Decommissioning and remediation activities are being performed with the eventual objective of the release of the property. Primary contaminants include the legacy disposal and contamination of natural and enriched uranium from the nuclear fuel cycle, as well as chemicals used during the facility operations. Two major regulatory bodies, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR), provide critical roles in the approval and oversight of the current regulatory path to remediation, decommissioning and eventual release. Further, remediation and decommissioning activities are performed under the implementing policies, plans, and procedures under the Hematite Decommissioning Plan (DP) and the Record of Decision (ROD). Remediation and decommissioning tasks at the Hematite Former Fuel Cycle Facility, referred to as the Hematite Facility, are performed against a disciplined decision logic flow that applies accumulated technical and monitoring data to determine each step of the excavation, exhumation, and removal of wastes from the Burial Pits and the remaining Areas of Concern (AOC). Decision flow logic is based upon the nuclear criticality safety controls and threshold conditions, relative level of radioactive and chemical contamination, security protocol, and final waste stream disposition. The end result is to remediate the residual radioactive and chemical contamination to approved dose-based and risk-based cleanup criteria as negotiated with U.S. Federal and State Regulators. The purpose of the paper is to provide a summary of the successful implementation of the decision flow logic to the remediation and decommissioning tasks performed to date.

Resumen
The Covid-19 pandemic has caused major disruptions to Higher Education Systems worldwide and Mauritius, a small island state, had to ensure that its people continue learning to navigate through the new normal. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology entered into an agreement with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) to secure scholarships under the ‘COL_Skills for Work Scholarship’, over the next 3 years. This timely initiative aims to close the skills gap of in-demand and high-demand jobs. Data from the first cohort reveals more than 50 % of learners completed their courses. A survey is underway to gauge the benefits accrued through the scheme by 1500 learners in terms of unlocking their potential to face changes in their workplace, building employability skills and personal development as well as to investigate its impact on the livelihood of people in the island. The study will be used as a basis to create strategic directions towards lifelong learning in a small island state and will also give invaluable insights into how education can be tailored made to create a talent economy, assisting higher education institutions to reinvent their learnings to meet the new needs of the economy.

Resumen
This paper discusses the results of a project funded by the California Energy Commission Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) to complete an independent assessment of the energy savings, environmental improvements and water conservation capabilities of emerging non-chemical water treatment technologies. The project was completed by a team from California State University at Sacramento and included a technical review of the emerging technologies and a detailed assessment of the emerging non-chemical water treatment technology. Clearwater Systems, Corp. The research was focused on gathering information from industrial field customers who had purchased and installed these systems and had actual experience with their operational characteristics from several months to several years. The team completed a telephone survey with approximately 15 end user customers and made site visits to ten sites. Some limited independent water testing was also completed. The results of these phone surveys and site visits were consolidated and placed in an interim report. Even though only a small number of end user customers were actually surveyed or visited, the research indicated that several hundred systems have been successfully installed in California and throughout the United States. The emerging technologies provide nonchemical treatment for cooling tower and evaporative condenser system water. All the information collected and results derived from this effort will be made available to the public later this year in the form of a PIER Technical Report. A Project Advisory Committee that included representatives from CalEPA, the Energy Commission PIER Program and local utilities supported this team. Disclaimer: This technical paper is a result of work sponsored by the California Energy Commission and does not necessarily represent the views of the Energy Commission, its employees or the State of California. This technical paper has not been approved or disapproved by the California Energy Commission nor has the Energy Commission passed upon the accuracy or adequacy of the information in this technical paper. Genoa, Paul H. "Rationale for Independent Site Clean-Up and Radiological Clearance Standards". En ASME 2003 9th International Conference on Radioactive Waste Management and Environmental Remediation. ASMEDC, 2003. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/icem2003-4930.

Resumen
Over the past few years, the U.S. nuclear power industry has gained substantial experience and appreciation of the technical complexity and rigor required to meet a performance-based site clean-up standard. Five large power reactors and several smaller ones are now well along the path to license termination. They have not been on this journey alone. There has been a steep learning curve for all stakeholders involved in the process including state and federal radiation regulators, legislators, and the public. We have all learned that the translation of results from a post remediation survey interpreted through pathway modeling for comparison with a dose-based clean-up standard is for many a leap of faith. Our regulator has an understandable desire to address this uncertainty by demanding conservative analysis at each turn. As a result, it is extremely demanding to demonstrate that a clean-up standard in the 0.15–0.25 mSv/a range has been met. It is not likely that a standard in the 10 μSv/a level, typically associated with radiological clearance standards, can be practically demonstrated while still meeting the current expectations of U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for technical rigor.

Resumen
Abstract The Georgia Tech Research Reactor (GTRR) is a 5-megawatt (MW) heavy-water-cooled nuclear reactor located on the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) campus in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. On July 1, 1997, Georgia Tech administration notified the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) of their intent to decommission the GTRR. In the summer of 1999, the NRC issued a license amendment to decommission the GTRR in accordance with NRC’s Regulatory Guide 1.86. In the spring of 1999, Georgia Tech and the State of Georgia contracted CH2M HILL to serve as the Executive Engineer to manage the decommissioning project. Later in the summer of 1999, the IT Corporation was selected as the Decommissioning Contractor. The Decommissioning Contractor began the dismantlement process at the Georgia Tech site in November, 1999. By February, 2000, reactor support systems such as the primary and secondary cooling water systems, and the bismuth cooling system were removed and packaged for off-site disposal. Reactor internals were removed in April, 2000. Removal of the bioshield occurred from May through November, 2000. Throughout January, 2001, various concrete structures, including the Spent Fuel Storage Hole, were decontaminated. Dismantlement and decontamination activities were completed by April, 2001. The Final Survey Report to the NRC is planned to be submitted to the NRC December, 2001, 2001. Final license termination by the NRC is anticipated in the spring of 2002.

Ugarte, Esteban R. y Saeed Salehi. "A Robust Screening Tool to Repurpose Hydrocarbon Wells to Geothermal Wells in Oklahoma". En SPE Oklahoma City Oil and Gas Symposium. SPE, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.2118/213068-ms.

Texto completo
Resumen
Abstract Geothermal energy is a renewable energy that has vast potential due to its reliable energy supply. Its development has been related to specific geological locations with extremely high temperatures. However, depleted oil and gas reservoirs can produce geothermal energy from the subsurface. Repurposing this well can be a valuable tool to generate sustainable and steady energy for the state of Oklahoma due to its large number of wells used in the Oil and Gas industry. In fact, abandoned oil and gas wells are suitable candidates for conversion as these are environmental liabilities. The challenge is selecting which wells are good candidates for geothermal applications. This study aims to build an evaluation methodology to filter wells with a high potential for geothermal production. Three factors, temperature, proximity to the end user, and well integrity, are analyzed for evaluating possible candidates. Three datasets of temperature gradients were gathered from the Oklahoma Geological Survey, abandoned oil and gas wells from the Oklahoma Corporate Commission, and cities’ locations and populations from the US Census Bureau were combined. The objective is to evaluate the wells in Oklahoma to select promising candidates for repurposing for geothermal applications. Temperature prediction was made using Spatial Interpolation using Thiessen polygons, K-nearest Neighbors, and Kriging. K-nearest Neighbors exhibited the highest performance based on the evaluation metrics. Temperature prediction at an average true vertical depth of 6000 ft showed 26.7% or 4292 wells have more than 150 °F and can be converted for geothermal production. The shortest distance heuristic algorithm was used to calculate the shortest distance of each well to any city in Oklahoma. Before conversion, an evaluation of the well is required to assess the volumes and condition of the well; methods include statical analysis, logging, and evaluation techniques. These are discussed in this study. This study shows the high number of wells with the potential to be converted for geothermal applications converting a liability and environmental concern to a renewable energy-producing asset.

Resumen
The term Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) was coined by Dave Cormier of University of Prince Edward Island in Canada in the year 2008. However the MOOCs gained popularity in the year 2012, as world’s renowned Universities like Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University started offering MOOCs. The Journey of MOOCs in India started a little late, the Ministry of education formerly known as Ministry of Higher of Human Rights Development MHRD initiated the SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) in the year 2014 and it was full fledgedly open to all the educational institutes to prepare, adopt, integrate the MOOCs into their educational framework by the year 2017. Ultimately the outburst of Covid-19 was observed to be the key factor for aggregation of MOOCs around the world as our present educational system was unable to cater the needs of the learners. In view of the above situation the apex educational body of the Indian Educational System, University Grants Commission (UGC) released a circular about integration of MOOCs into Higher education from previous 20% to 40%. This led to a drastic change in the educational structure of Indian educational system. The learners from different disciplines enrolled to the MOOCs available on various platforms such as SWAYAM, UGC-CEC, and NPTEL etc. due to their easy accessibility and on the go learning facility, many State and Central universities have developed their MOOC policies and have been practicing the MOOC integration into their curriculum. YCM Open University being the largest University in capacity of enrolment, lack behind in integrating MOOCs into its educational curriculum. Present study attempts to identify the problems and prospects of integration of MOOCs in curriculum of the YCM Open University. The survey method was implemented to carry out the research, and the researchers produced a structured questionnaire and collected data from the faculties of YCM Open University.
