Resumen
In this competitive manufacturing environment, material transportation is an important topic for researchers and practical applications. This study presents a real life example of an automotive equipment manufacturer problem. The manufacturer has several depots to serve 54 milk-run suppliers and complained about the fluctuations of milk-run vehicles between work days and depots. The aim of this study is to develop a systematic approach to make milk-run system more stable for manufacturer. Therefore the systematic approach which consists of, the milk-run route optimization with mixed integer linear programming model, container loading heuristic to increase the utilization of milk-run vehicles and time interval assignment heuristic to avoid coincidence of milk-run vehicles at the depots, is suggested to get over existing problems of a manufacturer.

Resumen
With the rapid development of automobile industry, auto parts logistics emerged as an important part of promoting industrial development. Milk-run is used more and more frequent in auto parts supply. Based on the characteristics of auto parts requirement and milk-run, in order to satisfy the requirement of OEMs, the distribution center takes milk-run supply logistics model to a variety of vendors, using the idea of third party. The design of automobile parts milk-run vehicle routing is the problem of designing the non-full set of goods vehicle routing with time window. This thesis established a vehicle routing model with time window, studied milk-run vehicle routing of automobile parts, used the particle swarm optimization to solve the problem of the example, and obtained a satisfied results in acceptable time. It also verified the validity of the model and algorithm.

Resumen
A new quantitative assay has been developed for measuring residual alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity in a wide variety of dairy products including whole milk, low fat and skim milks, chocolate milk, and creams. ALP in the test sample hydrolyzes a nonfluorescent substrate, FluorophosR, to a highly fluorescent product. Product formation is monitored continuously during a short incubation period and enzyme activity is calculated from the rate of fluorescence increase. Total test time is 3 min. Reaction rates are linear up to 0.5% raw milk (equivalent to 5 μg phenol/ml/15 min) with a detection limit of 0.006% raw milk. Within and between run precision of the fluorometric method was assessed by repeated analysis of a pasteurized milk sample containing added mixed herd raw milk. The within run (N=10) mean was 190.4 mU/L, standard deviation (SD) 3.2, and a coefficient of variance (CV) of 1.7%. The procedure provides a rapid, sensitive, precise, and easy-to-use ALP assay, applicable to a wide variety of dairy products.

Resumen
Economists have long been analysing the determinants of milk production while focusing on the relationship between milk price and production. Brandow (1953) used a single equation regression procedure to estimate the supply response function for the United States. Halvorson (1955) also used a single equation regression .procedure to analyse the determinants of milk production per cow and found milk production to be highly price inelastic. In another study, Halvorson (1958) used the Nerlovian distributed lag model to estimate both short-run and long-run price elasticities of milk production. Here, he found the long-run price elasticities of United States milk production to be in the range of 0.30 to 0.50. Chen et af. (1972) estimated milk production response for both a polynomial and a geometrically declining distributed lag price structure. They found long-run price elasticity to be 2.53. Buckwell (1982) adapted a theory of farm size demonstrated by Kislev and Peterson (1982) to model milk production behaviour in England and Wales. Burton (1984) used a model of the United Kingdom dairy sector to determine simultaneously herd size, number of culls, replacement heifer price, and milk price. In a recent study, Chavas and Kraus (1990) developed a dynamic model of a dairy cow population and milk supply response and applied it to the US Lake States. The authors also calculated dynamic supply elasticities and found the response of supply to market prices to be very inelastic in the short run.

Resumen
Supply response indicates the output change due to the change in price and non-price factors. The main aim of this study was to analyse the supply response of milk producers to various economic and non-economic factors. The specific objectives were to determine the responsiveness of milk supply in Swaziland to price and its substitute price (milk powder) and to examine the responsiveness of milk producers to non-economic factors such as rainfall, technology and dairy cattle inventory. The study used time series data from 2010 to 2014 and each year was given in months in-order to have 60 data points. Several techniques relevant for analysing time series data were employed, which included testing for stationarity of the data, checking if the independent variables if are able to explain the dependent variable (cointegration), running the long-run regression, then dropping some of the residuals which were not significant, after which the Vector Error-Correction Model and the diagnostic tests were conducted. Such analysis included the formal test for stationarity. The Johansen cointegration test was used which provided evidence of cointegration between Milk Output and its determinants. The long-run regression results revealed that Milk Powder Output and Milk Powder Price are significant in determining milk response in the long-run in Swaziland with the elasticities of -0.48 and -0.92 respectively, while the short-run coefficients were-0.21 and -0.70 respectively. Both variable were significant at 1% in the short-run and only the Milk Output was significant at 5% (P>0.05) in the short-run. The Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) came out with the correct -0.129 implying that only 12.9% of the shocks will be adjusted back to the long-run path within a month. The study therefore, recommended that the Swaziland Government should promote local market share and purpose policies to decrease the country’s reliance to imported dairy products, which negatively affects economic development.

Resumen
This paper addresses the assessment of the price transmission of dairy products in Hungary. Monthly prices are used in testing the hypothesis of asymmetric price transmission between farmers and retailers. The magnitude of short- and long-run asymmetric transmission between price levels is measured through a nonlinear autoregressive distributed model (NARDL). The cointegration of variables is validated through bounds test of the NARDL model. The estimated NARDL model proves the existence of long- and short-run asymmetric relationships between producer milk price and most retailer dairy product prices. Furthermore, the model confirms the presence of a significantly positive long-run price asymmetry for butter, buttercream, sour cream, and Trappista cheese. The positive long-run price transmission asymmetry results could be explained by the strong market power of milk processors, which are granted through their concentrations and the absence of competitiveness in the market. The short-run asymmetry of price transmission could be explained by implementing some policy interventions, such as the milk quotas, which limit milk production. Analyzing the asymmetric relationship between the producer milk price and the retailer dairy product prices could give a clear vision of the dairy sector and how prices move between market actors, highlighting the retailers’ purchasing power feature, and its role in determining the market price interaction.

Resumen
In our country Morocco, several dairy factories are placed in rural regions with a bad road network, which means that milk collection has a significant impact on profit, affecting milk transport costs. Actually, the milk run logistics process has been transformed from a traditional farm to the new cheese factory, so it’s needed efficient methods and models to improve the process of production and collection of milk from those units. For that, we will apply new technologies such as the internet of things (IoT) and big data to collect and analyze this information to optimize the milk delivery process. The main goal of this work is to design a new smart decision method using the internet of things and big data to optimize the milk run logistics, reduce the cost of transportation and improve collection density. This method will be based on the swarm artificial intelligence concept to find and calculate the shortest path between units to optimize the collection of milk.

Resumen
The objective of vehicle routing problem is usually to minimize the total traveling distance or cost. But in practice, there are a lot of problems needed to minimize the fastest completion time. The milk-run vehicle routing problem (MRVRP) is widely used in milk-run distribution. The mutation ACO is given to solve MRVRP with fastest completion time in this paper. The milk-run VRP with fastest completion time is introduced first, and then the customer division method based on dynamic optimization and split algorithm is given to transform this problem into finding the optimal customer order. At last the mutation ACO is given and the numerical examples verify the effectiveness of the algorithm.

Resumen
This paper uses the concepts of milk runs as well as bin packing in order to optimize collection and reduce cost. Using the concept of “milk run” and an approach of time minimization, we can optimize the number of trucks and other vehicles used for picking and transporting waste. The objective function involves cost of transportation and is linked to distance travelled to dispose wastes. The constraints are those of vehicle capacity. The profile of different types of trucks obtained from milk run is used to compute number of trucks as well as to allot them to different trips.

Resumen
A liquid chromatography–high resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS) method for the direct determination of various saturated hydroxy fatty acids (HFAs) in milk was developed for the first time. The method involves mild sample preparation conditions, avoids time-consuming derivatization procedures, and permits the simultaneous determination of 19 free HFAs in a single 10-min run. This method was validated and applied in 17 cow milk and 12 goat milk samples. This work revealed the existence of various previously unrecognized hydroxylated positional isomers of palmitic acid and stearic acid in both cow and goat milk, expanding our knowledge on the lipidome of milk. The most abundant free HFAs in cow milk were proven to be 7-hydroxystearic acid (7HSA) and 10-hydroxystearic acid (10HSA) (mean content values of 175.1 ± 3.4 µg/mL and 72.4 ± 6.1 µg/mL in fresh milk, respectively). The contents of 7HSA in cow milk seem to be substantially higher than those in goat milk.

Resumen
The divergence in liquid milk price trends has raised concern about the efficiency of the milk market price transmission in Slovakia. The paper provides empirical evidence on the price transmission among the producer, wholesale, and retail markets of liquid milk in Slovakia, using the monthly data from 1993 to 2010. The empirical analysis is based on the Granger causality and the Johansen cointegration tests and on the asymmetry tests (Houck approach and error correction model approach). The causality test results show that the changes in producer prices cause changes in the wholesale and retail prices; there is a feedback from the retail to producer prices. Moreover, the direction of causality between the wholesale and retail prices flows in both directions. The long-run elasticities of price transmission are, as expected, greater than the short-run elasticities. The cointegration results indicate that the wholesale and producer prices as well as the retail and producer prices are cointegrated, but there is no evidence of cointegration between the wholesale and retail prices. The results of an asymmetric error correction models suggest that the price transmission in the Slovakian liquid milk market is asymmetric both in the short- and long-runs.

Resumen
This study determined the effect of nutritional supplementation throughout endurance exercise on whole-body leucine kinetics (leucine rate of appearance [Ra], oxidation [Ox], and nonoxidative leucine disposal [NOLD]) during recovery. Five trained men underwent a 2-h run at 65% VO2max, during which a carbohydrate (CHO), mixed protein-carbohydrate (milk), or placebo (PLA) drink was consumed. Leucine kinetics were assessed during recovery using a primed, continuous infusion of 1-13C leucine. Leucine Ra and NOLD were lower for milk than for PLA. Ox was higher after milk-supplemented exercise than after CHO or PLA. Although consuming milk during the run affected whole-body leucine kinetics, the benefits of such a practice for athletes remain unclear. Additional studies are needed to determine whether protein supplementation during exercise can optimize protein utilization during recovery.

Resumen
AbstractAn econometric model of the dairy industry was used to estimate the effects on farmers, consumers, and taxpayers of nationwide adoption of the California nonfat solids standards for fluid milk. It was estimated that adoption of the California standards would raise farm-level milk prices by 1 to 5 percent in the short run and by 1 to 2 percent in the long run. The average retail price of fluid milk would rise by 9 to 13 cents per gallon. Dairy program costs fall under most scenarios, but could rise if surpluses fall to levels that would trigger increases in the support price.

Resumen
The determination of free fatty acids (FFAs) in milk is of importance for quality control, legislative purposes, authentication and product development. We present herein a liquid chromatography–high resolution mass spectrometry method for the direct determination of FFAs in milk. The method involves mild sample preparation, avoids time-consuming derivatization and allows the direct quantification of twenty-two FFAs in a 10-min single run. It was validated and applied in thirteen cow milk and seven goat milk samples. Saturated fatty acids C16:0, C18:0 and unsaturated C18:1 (n-9) were found to be the major components of milk FFAs at concentrations of 33.1 ± 8.2 μg/mL, 16.5 ± 5.3 μg/mL and 14.8 ± 3.8 μg/mL, respectively, in cow milk and at concentrations of 22.8 ± 1.8 μg/mL, 12.7 ± 2.8 μg/mL and 13.3 ± 0.3 μg/mL, respectively, in goat milk. Other saturated and unsaturated FFAs were found in significantly lower quantities. Saturated fatty acids C6:0, C8:0 and C10:0 were found in higher quantities in goat milk than in cow milk. The levels of the important (for human health) odd-chain FFAs C15:0 and C17:0 were estimated in cow and goat milk.

418 women participating in the Women's Ten-kilometer Run completed a questionnaire of 51 questions. We hypothesized that a reliable health education brochure on light milk products would help to change consumption habits of milk products and other eating habits. 13% of women reported a positive change in their consumption of milk products. Seven variables explained 41% of the change in eating habits, and three variables (change of eating habits, knowledge about the prevention of osteoporosis, and reading the brochure) 37% of the change in consumption of milk products.

Resumen
Abstract IDEXX has produced a robust and improved rapid test kit optimized to detect penicillin G in a variety of milk matrixes. The SNAP® Beta-Lactam ST Test Kit is designed to be run without the use of a heat block. The new test is optimized to ensure a detection capability for penicillin G that is at or below the European Union maximum residue limit of 4 parts per billion. The test can be used with commingled cow milk, commingled goat milk, commingled sheep milk, and reconstituted whole fat powdered milk. The SNAP Beta-Lactam ST Test Kit contains all the items necessary to run and interpret the test in a single package. No heat block or reader is required. The results can be read visually or with an IDEXX SNAPshot or SNAPshot DSR Reader. The total assay time is approximately 7 minutes.

Resumen
In third world countries, where the level of mechanization in agriculture is low, livestock rearing is mainly for draught purpose. On the other hand, the use of animals for draught purpose is low in developed countries owing to the high level of farm mechanization and the animals are mainly reared for the consumption of meat and milk. Milk production in Pakistan is an important enterprise for over five million households owning buffaloes and cattle. Supply response of livestock has been undertaken mostly in developed countries. In developing countries livestock farming is not done on a large scale basis. This study is an attempt to obtain the best estimates of the response of milk producers while making a decision about production allocation of milk in Pakistan. The main objectives of the study are: (1) to test whether Pakistani milk producers respond to price movements (2) to estimate the elasticities of production with respect to milk producers: (a) relative price (b) credit and lagged production (c) to make a comparison of short-run and long-run price elasticities with that of developed and underdeveloped countries (d) to identify policy measures. The study is based on secondary data at the Pakistan level and covers a period of 31 years, starting from 1971-72 to 2002-03. Marc Nerlove’s (1958) partial adjustment lagged model is used for the study. The result of the analysis reveals that in the process of making the production decisions for milk production, all the variables (relative price, credit availability and lagged milk production) are equally important.

Resumen
The objectives of this research are i) to examine New Zealand's dairy sector and ii) to analyze the market integration and price transmission of Skim Milk Powder (SMP) of New Zealand and Indonesian market. The methods used are Augmented Dickey Fuller test, Johansen Cointegration test, and Vector Error Correction Model. The result indicates: 1) as trade partner, New Zealand is powerful due to its status as the largest dairy producer worldwide; therefore, Indonesia has less bargaining power and 2) The SMP market of both countries are integrated. The coefficient of long run equation variable indicates that every 10 percent changes of one market, the imported SMP price will adjust 10.97 percent, while the exported SMP price will adjust 9.12 percent. The loading vector coefficient indicates that Indonesia is the only party adjusting to long run disequilibrium. Policies to minimize the risks includes: i) buffer budget, ii) alternative suppliers and iii) futures trade.

Resumen
Codebook shifting of some clones of Enterococci from normal flora to genotypically and phenotypically foodborne opportunistic and multidrug resistant pathogens in our ecosystem represent dangerous hygienic problem. Seventy-fivepooled milk samples were collectedfrom differentdistricts in Baghdad ecosystem from January until May (2019). Fiftyraw milk samples pooled directly from Cows and milk containers (twenty-five each) and twenty-five imported milk powders pooled from Baghdad markets in which, fifteen samples inspected monthly(five from each brand). Certifiedand modified traitsprofits for isolation and confirmation policy. Frequency and distribution of verified data in Baghdad environment reveled variable results. Seven Enterococcus faecalis phenotypes (9.33 %) recovered from raw milk samples in which, four isolates (5.33 %) recovered from Cows raw milk and three isolates (4 %) recovered from milk containers. None recovered clones founds in imported milk powders. All isolates were biofilm-producers and vancomycin resistant verifiedvia modified Christensen biofilm assay and antibiotics sensitivity test. Monitoring these contamination events with vancomycin resistant Enterococcus faecalis needs sophisticated hygienic efforts in Baghdad ecosystem

Resumen
AbstractThis analysis indicates that generic advertising expenditures, ceteris paribus, generated rightward shifts in demand for fluid milk in the Texas Market Order over the period January 1980 to September 1988. Generally, the results from this study are in agreement with previous research efforts which suggest that generic advertising can increase the demand for fluid milk. Importantly, in this analysis, the impacts of television and radio advertising have been effectively disentangled. Television advertising generates a response that wears off more quickly than radio advertising. Also, the long-run effect of radio advertising is about 1.75 times greater than the long-run effect of television advertising.
