Texto completoThis study takes palce in the field of Social Work Education and investigates the Social Work Unconventional Placements, a new frame of placement proposed at the third year of Catholic University Social Work degree (Milan-Brescia). The thesis argues the evolution of Social Work profession and its education, giving attention to the Relational-way of Social Work Education and to international innovative practice learning experiences. The research project focused on Unconventional Placement inspired by Relational Social Work method. To collect data and opinions of UC Social Work bachelors an original survey was created. The on-line survey was administered to 315 former-social work students that practiced this activity in 2008-2015. The research explored the main characteristics of the Unconventional Placements realized by the students during their Social work education path. Findings from the study confirmed the presence of distinctive traits related to the theoretic model of Unconventional Placement developed in Relational SWE framework: participatory approach to projects, reflexive involvement of professional/non-professional partners, innovation in the specific context. The survey observes the carry on of a considerable number of projects after the end of curricular placements, through the community project partners activation; from Unconventional Placements emerge new job opportunities for new social workers involved.

Texto completoThis project refers to various research areas, from special education to neuroscience and language education. It starts from a real and positive experience and develops into an “holistic” approach to the recovery of basic skills in developmental dyslexia. This goal is achieved by creative linguistic exercises and musical experiences, where the action of sound frequencies can stimulate the perceptual-cognitive system, activating at the same time self-regulation mechanisms by resonance. Design. The effectiveness of music is initially investigated on 4 “normal” subjects, then on a panel of 5 subjects with disphonetic and mixed dyslexia. The investigation is carried on by measuring the evolution of the main parameters of physical and mental wellbeing and the hemispheric coherence brain values. The collected data and the case study of a teenager with dyslexia, through a 2 years’ follow-up, are used to define a model of learning activities and operational guidelines. The effects of these guidelines are investigated on other 4 cases chosen in a secondary school (“embedded case study”), with reference to the implementation of reading and writing skills and the development of self-concept across pre-, during -and post –test: words and non-words lists with and without crowding effect, MT evidence of textual understanding, multidimensional self-esteem assessment test and analysis of textual production by the software “Èulogos”. Results. Analysis of empirical evidence shows the effectiveness of the used strategies to reveal the actual improvements of literacy skills, expressive capability, socio- emotional and motivational dimensions, praxia and space-temporal integration of the studied cases. This suggests the possibility of the transferability of the adopted multimodal approach.

Texto completoCurrent standards on accelerated dynamic tests are commonly intended to be implemented on single-axis shakers discarding, thus, the effect of the excitation components in other directions. The effect of those components, normally present in real operational environments, is only simulated performing multiple tests in succession for each orthogonal direction. Studies available in the scientific literature highlighted how this methodology not only is time consuming but also may lead to failures of the device under test not observable in real operating conditions. Starting from these considerations an experimental research has been performed using a multi-axis electrodynamic shaker available at the University of Ferrara. The experimental campaign consisted in single-axis and multi-axis tests, with three distinct levels of excitation and different degree of correlation among axes. The activity was carried out on notched steel specimens, with a simple geometry crafted ad-hoc in order to carefully control the stress state in the most stressed zone. The experimental campaign allowed an insight analysis of the so-called Inverse Power Law when it is applied on single-axis and multi-axis scenarios. The outcomes of single-axis tests put evidence on how the variation of the dynamic response due the propagating damage is of primary importance in the correct determination of the acceleration coefficient of the law. In addition, the same formulation was also applied to multi-axis tests where it has been observed how its predictive reliability is affected by the level of coherence between the simultaneous excitations. In particular, it has been shown how a low coherence level makes the acceleration coefficient particularly susceptible to the sample size of tests and to the RMS levels of adopted acceleration.
