Resumen
The article presents a mathematical model of the wear of contact strips of pantograph which is destined to define a diagnostic parameter for determining pantograph of the freight electric locomotives in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Existing mathematical models of pantograph - contact network interactions are considered in the form of multidimensional models with reduced masses. The Matlab - Simulink tools can be used for solving the mathematical models. Computer programs for solving mathematical models enable efficient calculations at high accuracy. During the simulation, the current pantograph-contact network system was considered as a twodimensional model with two degrees of freedom. The simulation results helped determine the diagnostic parameter of the “vibration acceleration” of the contact strips. Finding a diagnostic parameter is based on vibrational movements of the pantograph skid interacting with the contact network.

Most simulation packages provide long line models containing only two input terminals and two output terminals. These models allow testing transient states initiated by the occurrence of interference at the ends of the line. For this reason, it is not possible to study disorders occurring at any point of the electrical network. The article describes in detail the mathematical models of the long line, their implementation in the Matlab environment and exemplary results of computer simulations. Resumen
Mathematical modelling in environmental biotechnology has been a traditionally difficult resource to access for researchers and students without programming expertise. The great degree of flexibility required from model implementation platforms to be suitable for research applications restricts their use to programming expert users. More user friendly software packages however do not normally incorporate the necessary flexibility for most research applications. This work presents a methodology based on Excel and Matlab-Simulink for both flexible and accessible implementation of mathematical models by researchers with and without programming expertise. The models are almost fully defined in an Excel file in which the names and values of the state variables and parameters are easily created. This information is automatically processed in Matlab to create the model structure and almost immediate model simulation, after only a minimum Matlab code definition, is possible. The framework proposed also provides programming expert researchers with a highly flexible and modifiable platform on which to base more complex model implementations. The method takes advantage of structural generalities in most mathematical models of environmental bioprocesses while enabling the integration of advanced elements (e.g. heuristic functions, correlations). The methodology has already been successfully used in a number of research studies.

Resumen
Owing to their robust structure, induction motors are preferred to be used under difficult working conditions. Therefore, various faults may occur in the motor due to unexpected forces during the operations. Obtaining the data through experimental methods by physically creating faults in the induction motors, and analyzing their behavior is not efficient in terms of cost and time for educational purposes. Considering the above negative situation, in this paper, mathematical models have been developed in the dq0 stationary reference frame expressing three-phase stator windings short-circuit fault and broken rotor bar fault in induction motors. The proposed models are faster as compared to the other analytical models in terms of computation due to the rotor position independence of the inductance matrix. The faulty induction motor mathematical models have been implemented in the MATLAB/SIMULINK software environment with detailed explanations of each faulty model’s subsystem. As a visual laboratory that can be used as an educational tool for the analysis of a three-phase faulty induction motor, a graphical user interface application has been developed in MATLAB/GUIDE, which allows users to simulate models from a single interface. As a case study, the behaviors of faulty induction motors in transient and steady states have been simulated in different severity scenarios of the faults. The park vector method has been used as a fault diagnosis approach to investigate fault types and the fault severity effects on the park vector pattern in each fault scenario. In addition, to observe the success of the developed Simulink toolboxes, they were used at Marmara University through courses in electrical machinery and evaluated by the graduated students at the end of the semester.

To develop an application in MATLAB to help the producer select dairy goats, two data processing techniques were used; mathematical profiling and digital image processing. Ten (10) lactating goats were sampled, and data were collected for 60 days, divided into three periods: initial, middle, and final lactation. Photographs were taken directly from the udder at a distance of 50 cm horizontally, and a height of 60 cm, and the main udder measurements were taken. A database was created with the photographic information and processed in GeoGebra and MATLAB software to estimate udder volumes. The results showed that there is no statistical significance between the methods used to calculate udder size (P>0.05), and the best mathematical model that related the variables studied was the polynomial model of degree 6 (R²=0.881).

Resumen
One of the ways to intensify heat exchange processes is the creation of compact heat exchangers with a developed heat exchange surface. It is known that coil-type channels provide a developed heat exchange surface and belong to one of the most efficient and technological designs of heat exchange elements. In this regard, the authors proposed a small-size heat exchanger of the “pipe in pipe” type with an internal coil spring-twisted channel, and the authors of the proposed article developed mathematical models describing the heat-exchange surfaces of pipes of complex configurations, including coil spring-coiled channels. The equations of heat transfer surfaces are written in vector-parametric form based on the fundamental principles of analytical and differential geometry. In order to verify the adequacy and visualization of the written equations, surfaces were constructed using the Matlab application software package. The proposed mathematical models can be used in computer simulation of hydrodynamic processes during the flow of liquid media in curved channels, which will allow to explore and further optimize their internal geometry by changing the parameters of the equations. This work is a continuation of research on the creation of efficient heat exchangers.

Through this paper, we want to improve the methods of dynamic design of electric vehicles, by creating simulation models in Simulink. The models are represented by simulation schemes that consist of blocks of mathematical operators, interconnected based on mathematical calculation formulas. The initial input sizes, specified in Table 1, can be easily modified, giving the possibility to obtain several models for different design ideas. The results of the simulations are materialized in graphical diagrams and provide virtual time data on vehicle speed, acceleration, engine torque, wheel power, energy consumed, and distance traveled. In the first simulation scheme, the input variable shows a motor torque generator with values between 0-132 Nm. In the second simulation scheme, the input variable is speed, according to the ECE-15 urban cycle scenario.

Further the circular models based on the Rising Sun function are motivated by purely mathematical considerations as a smoothing function and possible application. This work takes a further step in this direction using several mathematical tools such as Real Analysis along with MATLAB and are applied to enlarge the horizon of Mathematical Statistics. Here an attempt is made to construct new circular models using the Rising Sun function and also the circular rising sun lemma is proposed

In order to understand the two types of nonlinear differential equation problems in engineering dynamics, the author proposes a numerical analysis method for the two types of nonlinear differential equations based on computer simulation. This method establishes the MATLAB algorithm structure of the numerical solution of the fourth-order fixed-step Runge-Kutta and Lorenz models, discusses the error control in the case of variable step size, and plots the numerical solutions of the Lorenz system based on MATLAB in two-dimensional and three-dimensional space graphics. The x -direction displacement and y -direction displacement data are extracted from the Lorenz equation as iterative samples of the model, the regression curve obtained after iteration has a slope of 0.996, and the iterative regression model reflects the basic characteristics of the data well. This method presents the basic idea of numerical solution verification within acceptable error limits. For solving engineering problems with differential equations as mathematical models, an effective numerical solution method is provided, and further discussion on the numerical solutions of partial differential equations is of great significance.

Resumen
Abstract: Finite Element Analysis or FEA is the simulation of a physical phenomenon using a numerical mathematic technique referred to as the Finite Element Method or FEM. This process is at the core of mechanical engineering, as well as a variety of other disciplines. It also is one of the key principles used in the development of simulation software. Engineers can use these FEM to reduce the number of physical prototypes and run virtual experiments to optimize their designs. Finite Element Analysis is used in various fields like structural, fluid flow, heat transfer to estimate the behavior of a component in real environment. There now exists growing body of knowledge connected with the development of mathematical models and numerical simulations of physical model. There are various software packages like Ansys, OptiStruct, COMSOL, Solidworks and many more which provide a close estimate in simulation models. Apart from these software MATLAB also has a Partial Differential Equation (PDE) toolbox which enables us to perform these simulations using some built-in functions and codes. However, a computational numerical technique is not an end of design rather it just provides a great estimate of the final component for which the results are only as good as the input provided and the final component in most of the cases require a physical testing in environment which it is meant to perform as a validation. The article aims to apply the methods of regression analysis in estimation task the reliability indicators of an infocommunication system and data trend forecasting. The task of assessment the reliability indicators of infocommunication systems is based, traditionally, on statistical data, the collection and processing is carried out by monitoring system. To obtain the calculated indicators as close as possible to the real practical results it is necessary to process a large number of measurements. In this sense, the theory of filtration is widely used in various estimation problems. It allows to support the possibility of effective solution of technical issues and implementation through mathematical modeling programs. The article is aimed to consider the issues of data trend forecasting for parameters calculation of infocommunication systems. One of the most effective solutions is the use of regression analysis methods. The research gives development and analysis of mathematical and program models. Based on theoretical calculations, methods for solving the problem are determined and experimental research are carried out. The article solves the problem of identifying an autoregressive process through the Yule-Walker equations. In addition to theoretical calculations, a program has been developed that allows handle the process of calculations in the Matlab environment. As a result, it is proposed to compare the results of identification time series of variables through the Yule-Walker system with the classical parameter estimation by the least squares method. The results are shown graphically.

Members of the genusThermusfamily are signifiant producers of secondary metabolites, which are very commonly used in industry. Beside the productivity, it is also important to study the growth curve of each strain. The mathematical models which are commonly used to describe behavior of microbial strains under different physical and chemical conditions can reduce measured data.In this study, the mathematical models which describe only the microbial count were used. For analysis, Verhulst model, von Bertalanffy model and Richards model were chosen.During the cultivation ofThermus aquaticusandThermus scotoductusstrains, optical density (OD) and concentration of microorganisms were measured. The mathematical models were fitted to experimental data. The fitting was made in program MATLAB. The coefficients of models and statistical evaluation of goodness of fit of models were identified from mathematical analyses. Graphs of individual models were plotted with prediction bounds. 95% confidence levels were used to statistical evaluation of goodness of fit of models and prediction bounds.Richards model was evaluted as the most corresponding with experimental data. Similar results were reached using Verhulst model. Von Bertalanffy model was not coresponded with experimental data.

This paper analyses the effect of different interest rates on Black-Scholes’ and Heston Option Pricing Model. We discuss the concept of interest rate in the two Models. We compare the two models for the parameter –‘Interest Rate’. A mathematical tool, UMBRAE (Unscaled Mean Bounded Relative Absolute Error) is used to compare the two models for pricing European call options. NSE (National Stock Exchange) is used for real market data and comparison is done through Moneyness (which is defined as the percentage difference of stock price and strike price) and Time-To-Maturity. Mathematical software – Matlab is used for all mathematical calculations. We observe that Black-Scholes’ model is preferred for lower interest rates than Heston options pricing model and vice-versa. This study is helpful in derivatives market.

At present, there are three methods of PV array mathematical model building at home and abroad, but there aren’t comparative studies of their simulation effect to PV array. This paper analyses the three methods and carries out the simulation for them by MATLAB/Simulink platform. Finally, with comparing the simulation results of them, their simulation effect are basically identical, but the first mathematical model is more simple and is more helpful for the researchers to read and analyse.

Resumen
We show a method for Granular Synthesis Composition based on a mathematical modeling for the musical gesture. Each gesture is drawn as a curve generated from a particular mathematical model (or function) and coded as a MATLAB script. The gestures can be deterministic through defining mathematical time functions, hand free drawn, or even randomly generated. This parametric information of gestures is interpreted through OSC messages by a granular synthesizer (Granular Streamer). The musical composition is then realized with the models (scripts) written in MATLAB and exported to a graphical score (Granular Score). The method is amenable to allow statistical analysis of the granular sound streams and the final music composition. We also offer a way to create granular streams based on correlated pair of grains parameters.

Resumen
This study focuses on providing a comparative mathematical analysis of drug release from polymeric nanoparticle with different structures to allow in silico prediction of the appropriate and optimal model that applies to the whole drug release and not limited to a part of the process. The drug release data from nanoparticles have been applied using MATLAB software to apply mathematical models such as Zero-order, First-order, Higuchi, Hixson–Crowell, Korsmeyer-Peppas models besides a proposed model called Tanh function. This study results highlight the usefulness of mathematical models, key findings emerge that the Tanh model and First-order model gave the best fits of the parameters data as both model's plots showed high linear correlation (R2 = 0.9781, 0.9448) respectively. Finally, this study concludes that both proposed Tanh function and First-order model shows better performance, giving good results and can be successfully used to characterize drug and applied for prolonged drugs release.

Resumen
The mathematical study of epidemics and their management has been performed for many years, however, in the last few years, new models have been published. Public health is considered very important and has to be monitored, as it is permanently under risk due to the appearance of even more types of microorganisms. Compartmental models, such as exponential models, SI, SIS, SIR, SEIRS, SEIAR, MESIR models, other generalized SIR models were and still are remarkable for studying the spread of an epidemic and for their simulations in software such as MATLAB, Maple, GLEAMviz, etc. The paper has two main objectives: a. to present new simulations in Maple and GLEAMviz for the spread of COVID-19; b. to suggest a generalization of the SIR model for analyzing the spread of COVID-19 and a simulation of it in GLEAMviz. The conclusions are that, generally, mathematical models show a value of a reproduction threshold, which can be used to forecast whether the pandemic is the increasing or decreasing phase, and that mathematical models and simulations in various programs facilitate the improvement of methods of analysis of an epidemic situation and the management of the public health system.

Resumen
The implementation of information support for PC-based and hardware-software based sets for digital overcurrent protection devices and their models testing using MatLab-Simulink environment is considered. It is demonstrated that the mathematical modeling of a part of the power system – viz. of the generalized electric power object – could be based on rigid and flexible models. Rigid models implemented on the basis of mathematical description of electrical and magnetic circuits of a power system can be considered as a reference model for the simulation results that have been obtained with the aid of another simulation system to be compared with. It is proposed to implement flexible models for generalized electric power object in the MatLabSimulink environment that includes the SimPowerSystems component library targeted to power system modeling. The features of the parameters calculation of the SimPowerSystems component library blocks that the power system model is formed of are considered. Out of the Simulink standard blocks the models of a wye-connected current transformers were composed as well as the digital overcurrent protection, missing in the component library. A comparison of simulation results of one and the same generalized electric power object implemented in various PC-based software packages was undertaken. The divergence of simulation results did not exceed 3 %; the latter allows us to recommend the MatLab-Simulink environment for information support creation for hardware-software based sets for digital overcurrent protection devices testing. The structure of the hardware-software based set for digital overcurrent protection device testing using the Omicron CMC 356 has been suggested. Time to trip comparison between the real digital protection device МР 801 and the model with the parameters which are exactly match the parameters of the prototype device was carried out using the identical test inputs. The results of the tests demonstrated a close coincidence of results (the divergence of not more than 8 %), that confirms the possibility of using the suggested hardware-software based test set during the development and debugging of new digital relay protection devices.

Buildings are the main consumer of energy resources in the total energy balance of the countries in Central and Eastern Europe, the main energy consumption is allocated for heating. Efficient use of energy resources for heating needs to a large extent depends on the efficiency of regulation of heating systems. In the article, dynamic mathematical models of a two-room typical apartment in Ukraine, built in 2016, were developed in Matlab and EnergyPlus software environment. The simulations were carried out using IWEC hourly climate data for the city of Kyiv. The results of simulations of thermal energy consumption in Matlab are characterized by a larger range of fluctuations of the heating system load, which is typical for the real operating conditions of the system with the controller of ON/OFF type. In EnergyPlus it is assumed that the gas boiler operates continuously in the ON mode. In the research, the change of load on the apartment heating system was studied at different numbers and locations of air temperature control sensors installation, according to which the controller of the autonomous gas boiler operates.

Mathematical and statistical open source software (OSS) has played a vital and positive role in computing statistics, performing numerical computations, and solving for real and complex scalars. There is an enormous need to apply quality models to this type of software. In this paper, we present an inclusive set of current quality models and demonstrate their application to OSS. As very little research has been carried out on the quality in use assessment of mathematical software, this work investigates the application of the quality in use model inspired by ISO/IEC 25010 on three OSS products: Scilab, R-Language, and GNU Octave. We can confidently state that Scilab, R-Language, and GNU Octave perform similarly in terms of effectiveness, efficiency, productivity, and cognitive load. However, Scilab outperforms GNU Octave slightly when it comes to error safety.

Resumen
International trade allows countries to expand their markets and access goods and services that otherwise may not have been domestically available. As a result of international trade, the market is more competitive. This ultimately results in more competitive pricing and brings a cheaper product home to the consumer. The development of mathematical models to optimize the delivery of goods using a limited number of trucks is an urgent task for researchers around the world. The research goal was to use a developed mathematical model that allows one to optimize the performance of transportation tasks based on the selected parameters, both in terms of a particular truck and a fleet of trucks in the Russian region. The parameters (function, condition, cost, time, and quality) were set and an algorithm for the process of matching a specific truck and cargo was developed as part of the unit transportation task. A mathematical model has been developed for performing multiple freight tasks and operating a fleet of trucks, which considering such factors as cost, time, quality, and reputation, allows one to find an acceptable solution for a specific transportation task. A mathematical model was developed that considers such factors as cost, time, quality, and reputation, allowing one to find an acceptable solution for a particular transportation task. The simulation was performed in MATLAB 2018. The parameters of the simulations were a population size of 300, a maximum number of iterations of 2000, and a probability of selection of 0.85. From the 30 runs, the optional value was chosen as the best solution. The developed mathematical models have been tested for solving single and multiple transport problems under truck fleet simulation conditions. The results of the work can be used to optimize the operation of truck fleets in the Russian Federation and other countries.

Resumen
Abstract Solar (PV) panel models are necessary for the implementation of solar panel control algorithms such as maximum power point tracking. If real-time control is required, these models will be used on microcontrollers and, therefore, will be subject to constraints of memory and execution time: the model implemented on the microcontroller must occupy a memory area as small as possible and the mathematical relationships it contains can be computed in the shortest possible time. Analytical models usually do not fit this criteria, therefore searching for equivalent models which do fit it is required. In this paper, equivalent mathematical models are determined in the MATLAB programming environment based on data obtained by simulating an analytical model in the LabVIEW programming environment. In this paper, the models were obtained by modeling the current distribution in the panel through regression methods, more specifically by using an optimal response surface which has been validated through the resolution of an optimization problem with restrictions. The optimal response surface was used to estimate the extreme values of the power produced by the panel for certain given weather conditions (maximum power in summer and minimum power in winter).

Resumen
Purpose. Creation of virtual blocks and simulation laboratory stands for the study and comprehensive research of the dynamic properties of welding power supplies. Methodology. Review of literary sources on the subject, simulation modeling of electromagnetic processes in the MATLAB software environment, comparative analysis of obtained and available data. Findings. The comparative analysis of means of modeling of power sources of a welding arc is executed. One of the main parameters by which the environments were compared is functionality. Among the considered simulators, Simulink of the MATLAB software environment is the most effective one in the considered systems modeling. Using special features, its user can not only simulate, but also analyze the operation of the over time installation. Mathematical and functional models of welding arc power supplies were built using SimPowerSystems elements and blocks from the Simulink library with the involvement of the MATLAB system itself, which significantly expands the possibilities for such systems modeling. Mathematization of certain processes to some extent shows the level of reliability of the results and the degree of their scientific development. The developed models act as a laboratory, which allows you to set and explore any modes and characteristics. Numerical experiments and comparative analysis of numerical and field experiments are given. Experimental verification of the obtained results on specific examples showed the relevance of the problem and the correctness of its solution. Further research is related to the expansion of the range of simulated power sources of the electric arc, a comprehensive study of their dynamic properties and basic characteristics, experimental verification of the developed models, as well as comparative analysis and development of recommendations for model improvement. Originality. The method of circuit modeling of general-purpose electrical and electronic circuits was further developed by extending it to a new class of objects - the power supply system of electrical installations. Practical value. Construction of mathematical and functional models of complex systems with the involvement of MATLAB allows to take into account their main features, significantly expands the possibilities for modeling, study and research of power supplies. Based on the proposed approach, simulation laboratory stands of specific power supplies were developed and built, which allow to set and study any modes and characteristics.

Resumen
Providing enough facilities for students to do laboratory activities is important. An existing useful kit was proposed for students learning a variety of control engineering topics. A temperature control lab kit is made from scratch using common electronics components as a replacement for the original TCLab introduced by Hedengren (Hedengren et al., 2019). Mathematical models of the system derived from theoretical and experimental methods are simulated in Matlab/Simulink to verify their accuracy to the physical kit. Different control algorithms such as: On/Off, PID, Fuzzy are then applied on the Kit as well as its mathematical models to illustrate their control feasibility. Human machine interface (HMI) is also designed using Matlab GUI allowing an operator to select a control algorithm, tune control parameters and monitor parameters of the process. Experimental results show that the derived models can reflect quite well dynamics of the physical kit with temperature deviation among them in the range of ±3°C. This confirms that the kit is well-suited for teaching different control topics such as system modelling, system identification, classical control and advanced control algorithms.
