Resumen
Massaria species are well-known in temperate regions in contrast to tropical regions. Taxonomy and phylogeny of two new Massaria species are carried out in this study as a part of our major research interests in microfungal diversity and distribution in Asia. In 2018–2019, we collected two fungal collections similar to Massaria from China and Thailand. Based on distinct morphology, multigene phylogeny, and host data, we introduce two new species, Massaria broussonetiae on Broussonetia sp. and M. racemosae on Ficus racemosa. Full descriptions, colour photo plates and a phylogenetic tree to show the placement of new species are provided.

Resumen
Branches of Platanus × hispanica with distinct symptoms of the Massaria disease were investigated by light and transmission electron microscopy and cellular UVmicrospectrophotometry. The samples collected in the city of Mannheim, Germany, were infected in vivo with the fungus Splanchnonema platani and showed various degrees of wood decay. The investigations were focused on the decay pattern of cell walls in the different cells, i.e., fibres, vessels as well as ray and axial parenchyma cells. The following results were obtained. Hyphae of the ascomycete fungus Splanchnonema platani penetrated from cell to cell through the pits and not through the cell wall middle lamella, by the formation of thin perforation hyphae. During this process, the 1–5 μm thick hyphae became narrower without attacking the wall around the pit canal. After penetration through a pit, the hyphae again enlarged to their original diameter. This is true for all pit pairs connecting the various cell types. Late decay stages did not show a decay of cell corner regions and middle lamellae of fibres as well as vessel and parenchyma cell walls. Phenolic deposits in parenchyma cells were still present in severely attacked xylem tissue. These features point to a low lignolytic capacity of the fungus. The frequently found microscopic decay pattern with the formation of oval or spherical cavities in the S2 layer of the secondary wall with an often structurally intact S3 layer is a characteristic of softrot decay. This classification is also supported by the remaining cell corner and middle lamella regions in advanced decay stages. As a consequence of this decay type, branches fracture in a brittle mode.

Resumen
The species of the family Massariaceae have been reported as hemibiotrophs, saprotrophs or weak pathogens. Massarioramusculicols chiangraiensis gen. et sp. nov. (Massariaceae) is introduced in this study to accommodate a taxon isolated from dead twigs of an unknown host, collected in Thailand. Phylogenetic analysis of large subunit (LSU) rRNA sequence data and morphological studies show the relationships of M. chiangraiensis with other genera in Massariaceae. Three genera Massaria, Massarioramusculicola and Neomassaria are accepted in Massariaceae and a key to genera of the family is provided. The genus Massarioramusculicola is clearly different from Massaria, whereas the latter has larger ascomata typically firmly embedded in pseudostromatic tissues intermixed with substrate cells, often surrounded by blackened marginal zones and covered by a dark clypeus, as well as brown to dark brown, larger, 3-disto- or euseptate ascospores. Massarioramusculicola can be distinguished from Neomassaria in having a peridium with two strata comprising dark brown to hyaline cells of textura angularis, rarely branched, septate trabeculae and 3-septate ascoapores.

Resumen
The four brief papers following below continue the line of reports on the archival finds of the Western migrants to the Genoese overseas colony of Caffa from outside Liguria in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, previously published in Archivio Storico Messinese,1 Rassegna Storica Salernitana,2 Studi Piemontesi,3 Studi veneziani,4 and Atti della Società Ligure di Storia Patria.5 The main sources researched for these studies are Caffae Massariae – the public books of accounts of the treasury of the Commune of Caffa drawn by the officers called massarii. These officers were annually rotated and sent from metropolis (Genoa) to its colony (Caffa). Caffae Massariae reflect money transactions and operations of the treasury in the double-entry bookkeeping system. The sources are stored in the archival section of the Bank of Saint George.6 Since Caffae Massariae quote (directly or indirectly) all those city inhabitants, who did with the administration any kind of financial transaction, they reflect the main flows of Latin migration from the West to the overseas Eastern colonies.

Resumen
Research objective: An analysis of the provisions and circumstances of the conclusion of the Genoese-Tatar treaties of November 1380 and February 1381. Research materials: Political, legal, and economic clauses of the agreements of 1380–1381, the available information on the persons who participated in their signing, the circumstances of their conclusion. Results and novelty of the research: Although the content of both documents is identical, and they differ only in the groups of people who signed them on the Horde’s side, the author argues here that these are two independent acts. According to the author, both agreements were concluded on behalf of and in the interests of Toqtamïsh Khan. Based on numismatic data, the dating of the yarliq to Bek Haji, and records in the book of Caffa’s Massaria, the author is inclined to an early dating of the establishment of Toqtamïsh Khan’ power in Crimea, namely, before March 1380. The author is of the opinion that the existence of two agreements was in connection with a change of administration in Solkhat (although the details of this are unclear). He also considers highly plausible N. Murzakevich’s assumption that the cession to the Genoese of Soldaia district and Crimean Gothia, stipulated by treaties, was a reward for the murder of Mamai which occurred perhaps between 28 November 1380 and 23 January 1381.

Resumen
In this paper we introduce a new genus Pseudosplanchnonema with P. phorcioides comb. nov., isolated from dead branches of Acer campestre and Morus species. The new genus is confirmed based on morphology and phylogenetic analyses of sequence data. Phylogenetic analyses based on combined LSU and SSU sequence data showed that P. phorcioides formed a distinct clade within the family Massarinaceae and is sister to Massarina eburnea, the type species of Massarina. The new genus Pseudosplanchnonema differs from Massarina in having ascomata without clypei, a thick peridium and larger, 1-septate, guttulate, dark brown ascospores. The new genus is compared with genera in the family Massarinaceae and a detailed description and illustrations of the species P. phorcioides, including its asexual morph, is provided.

Resumen
Abstract Two mini-sequencing methods, FP-TDI (template-directed dye-terminator incorporation with fluorescence-polarization) and MassArray (matrix assisted laser desorption ionization time of flight detection mass spectrometry), were optimized. A numeric standard was introduced to evaluate the SNP scoring quality of FP-TDI assay, thus made the optimization work easier. At the same time, using multi-PCR technology, 8-plex genotyping of MassArray assay was successfully carried out, some softwares were developed and the data process of MassArray was highly automated. Then these two methods were applied to high throughput SNP genotyping, the accuracy, efficiency and robustness were compared. The result shows FP-TDI is more sensitive to the concentration of SNPprimer and PCR product, as well as extension cycles, the SNPprimer length of FP-TDI should be 24–30 bp long, whereas MassArray assay prefers to be as short as only 16 bp. Altogether 6440 SNP sites of human chromosome 3 were genotyped in a sample of 90 individuals, 4792 sites by FP-TDI assay and 1648 sites by MassArray assay, the success rates of FP-TDI and MassArray were 67.7% and 93.6% respectively. The throughput of MassArray was higher than FP-TDI, and the cost of MassArray was lower, MassArray was more suitable for high throughput SNP genotyping.

Resumen
In autumn, 1465, two humanists agreed to have a battle. Lorenzo Guidetti was a disciple and friend of Cristoforo Landino, the most prominent teacher of rhetoric in the Florentine Studio. Buonaccorso Massari was a pupil of a less famous master, Giovanni Pietro of Lucca. Naturally, Massari began the fight, with all the pretended friendliness and genuine desire to insert knives in backs that characterize the intellectual at his deadliest. Massari had heard that Landino would lecture on Cicero's Epistolae ad Familiares during the academic year 1465-6. “I am an eager student,” he wrote to Guidetti on 14 September, “and I would be grateful to know what Landino said when he explained the first letter. For in my view it is quite hard because of the historical questions involved, and few have the ability to tackle so great an enterprise.“

Resumen
Ascospore and spore appendage ultrastructure in Pleospora gaudefroyi is described. Ascospore walls comprise a three-layered mesosporium within which electron-dense bodies (melanin?) are deposited in two layers (W2, W3), a tripartite episporium (W4), and an outer mucilaginous sheath (exosporium?). The electron-dense inclusions in the mesosporium are compared with those in the conidia of Alternaria brassicicola and ascospores of Carbosphaerella leptosphaerioides. In the unitunicate marine Ascomycetes, ascospores with a sheath are uncommon, whereas in the Loculoascomycetes many species have such ascospores. The sheath in P. gaudefroyi is compared with those of Paraliomyces lentiferus, Massarina thalassiae, and Massarina armatispora (all Loculoascomycetes). Key words: appendage ontogeny, marine Ascomycotina, taxonomy, ultrastructure.

Resumen
Many scholars agree that Paola Masino's novel Nascita e morte della massaia is to be read as an allegory protesting Fascism censorship and suppression of women's creative powers, a sort of literal grave-stone and defeat of the possibility of feminine imagination and creativity. By focusing on the implications of the alimentary discourse in the novel and on its "anorexic" protagonist, my essay wishes to complement the former reading. I suggest that an additional, perhaps less dramatic and tragic message may stem out of this depiction of a failure and a defeat. That is, a message that alludes to a fundamental faith in the resiliency of the powers of imagination and artistic creativity may actually, although marginally, be traced in the novel.

Resumen
For the in situ and sensitive detection of benthic dinoflagellates, we have established an integrated loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assay based on Ostreopsis cf. ovata and Amphidinium massartii. To detect the two species, a set of species-specific primers was constructed between the ITS gene and D1–D6 LSU gene, and the reaction temperature, time, and buffer composition were optimized to establish this method. In addition, the specificity of the LAMP primers was verified both in strains established in the laboratory and in field samples collected from the Jeju coastal waters, Korea. With the LAMP assay, the analysing time was within 45 to 60 min, which may be shorter than that with the conventional PCR. The detection sensitivity of the LAMP assay for O. cf. ovata or A. massartii was comparable to other molecular assays (PCR and quantitative PCR (qPCR)) and microscopy examination. The detection limit of LAMP was 0.1 cell of O. cf. ovata and 1 cell of A. massartii. The optimized LAMP assay was successfully applied to detect O. cf. ovata and A. massartii in field samples. Thus, this study provides an effective method for detecting target benthic dinoflagellate species, and could be further implemented to monitor phytoplankton in field surveys as an altenative.
