Resumen
In a world of wide-scale information sharing, data are described in different formats, i.e. data structures, values and schemas. Querying such sources entails techniques that can bridge the data formats. Some existing techniques deal with schema mapping and view complementary aspects of the problem. Important ones, consider producing all the possible mappings for a pair of schemas, insinuating accompanying semantics in the mappings and adapting correct mappings as schemas evolve. In this work, we consider the problem of discovering mappings as schemas of autonomous sources are gradually revealed. Using as an example setting an overlay of peer databases, we present a schema mapping solution that discovers correct mappings as peer schemas are gradually revealed to remote peers. Mapping discovery is schema-centric and incorporates new semantics as they are unveiled. Mapping experience is reused and possible mappings are ranked so that the best choice is presented to the user. The experimental study confirms the suitability of the proposed solution to dynamic settings of heterogeneous sources.

Resumen
The paper is devoted to the problem of piecewise-linear approximation of mapping for the elliptic system of solutions defined on triangular grids. A mapping is build to approximate the differential, and the estimate of error of approximation that does not depend on the degree of degeneracy of triangles of the grid. An analogous estimate is obtained for mappings which approximate the differential of solution of Beltrami equation.

Resumen
This paper summarizes results obtained by the authors regarding the utility of truncated point mappings which have been recently published in a series of papers. The method described here is applicable to the analysis of multidimensional, multiparameter, periodic nonlinear systems by means of truncated point mappings. Based on multinomial truncation, an explicit analytical expression is determined for the point mapping in terms of the states and parameters of the system to any order of approximation. By combining this approach with analytical techniques, such as the perturbation method employed here, we obtain a powerful tool for finding periodic solutions and for analyzing their stability. The versatility of truncated point mapping method is demonstrated by applying it to study the limit cycles of van der Pol and coupled van der Pol oscillators, the periodic solutions of the forced Duffing’s equation and for a parametric analysis of periodic solutions of Mathieu’s equation.

Resumen

Abstract. Landscape is not a sum of elements to be juxtaposed in a paper or a digital space. It is a complex system of relationships among components that have evolved over time. It is not a sum of material permanencies, more or less recognizable and placeable in space, but an interweaving of economic, social, religious and political meanings that link permanencies and give them value.

How to represent these relationships from existing geographic or historical databases? How can we illustrate the co-evolution between nature and culture that has given form to today’s landscape? And how to allow at the same time to update data and their relationships?

Through the comparison among examples taken from local participative experiences (ecomuseum community maps) and others directly managed and produced by the Authors (itinerary maps), the contribution reflects on these main critical issues: landscape representation problems, data collecting and updating, information sharing. The main results show that the data digitalization and georeferencing can help to illustrate and understand tangible and intangible characteristics of landscape and overcome the gaps from a sharing mapping procedure with a bottom-up approach and the point of view by the experts with a top-down approach. On the contrary, the digital representation of landscape data shows another set of problems that currently are mainly solved in traditional ways. The paper will also deal with these aspects.

Resumen
The past 20 years have witnessed an explosive growth in the demand for geo-spatial data. This demand has numerous sources and takes many forms; however, the net effect is an ever-increasing thirst for data that is more accurate, has higher density, is produced more rapidly, and is acquired less expensively. For mapping and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) projects, this has been achieved through the major development of Mobile Mapping Systems (MMS). MMS integrate various navigation and remote sensing technologies which allow mapping from moving platforms (e.g. cars, airplanes, boats, etc.) to obtain the 3D coordinates of the points of interest. Such systems obtain accuracies that are suitable for all but the most demanding mapping and engineering applications. However, this accuracy doesn't come cheaply. As a consequence of the platform and navigation and mapping technologies used, even an "inexpensive" system costs well over 200 000 USD. Today's mobile phones are getting ever more sophisticated. Phone makers are determined to reduce the gap between computers and mobile phones. Smartphones, in addition to becoming status symbols, are increasingly being equipped with extended Global Positioning System (GPS) capabilities, Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) inertial sensors, extremely powerful computing power and very high resolution cameras. Using all of these components, smartphones have the potential to replace the traditional land MMS and portable GPS/GIS equipment. This paper introduces an innovative application of smartphones as a very low cost portable MMS for mapping and GIS applications.

Resumen
The use of ontologies and ontology mappings is increasing in companies. Often the same context is modeled in different ontologies. Mapping is necessary to integrate these ontologies; however, in many cases these mappings are incorrect, i.e., they incorrectly link semantic concepts with different meanings. Tools that validate these mappings are necessary to ensure reliable communication between heterogeneous systems. This validation cannot be done in a completely automatic way, because the mappings are based on human interpretation. This work describes a semi-automatic tool that supports this activity, based on graphs that generate instances validated in a semi-automatic process that aims to ensure mapping robustness. This algorithm deals with an NP-Complete problem in order to generate all the instances. This paper presents a first prototype of the tool and the methodology used to validate the instances automatically generated by the tool.

Resumen
This paper studies complete stable and unstable periodic solutions for n-dimensional nonlinear discrete dynamical systems. The positive and negative iterative mappings of discrete systems are used to develop mapping structures of the stable and unstable periodic solutions. The complete bifurcation and stability analysis are presented for the stable and unstable periodic solutions which are based on the positive and negative mapping structures. A comprehensive investigation on the Henon map is carried out for a better understanding of complexity in nonlinear discrete systems. Given is the bifurcation scenario based on positive and negative mappings of the Henon map, and the analytical predictions of the corresponding periodic solutions are achieved. The corresponding eigenvalue analysis of the periodic solutions is presented. The Poincare mapping sections relative to the Neimark bifurcations of periodic solutions are presented. A parameter map for periodic and chaotic solutions is developed. The complete unstable and stable periodic solutions in nonlinear discrete systems are presented for the first time. The results presented in this paper provide a new idea for one to rethink the current existing theories.

Resumen
Many-core platforms are rapidly expanding in various embedded areas as they provide the scalable computational power required to meet the ever-growing performance demands of embedded applications and systems. However, the huge design space of possible task mappings, the unpredictable workload dynamism, and the numerous non-functional requirements of applications in terms of timing, reliability, safety, and so forth. impose significant challenges when designing many-core systems. Hybrid Application Mapping (HAM) is an emerging class of design methodologies for many-core systems which address these challenges via an incremental (per-application) mapping scheme: The mapping process is divided into (i) a design-time Design Space Exploration (DSE) step per application to obtain a set of high-quality mapping options and (ii) a run-time system management step in which applications are launched dynamically (on demand) using the precomputed mappings. This paper provides an overview of HAM and the design methodologies developed in line with it. We introduce the basics of HAM and elaborate on the way it addresses the major challenges of application mapping in many-core systems. We provide an overview of the main challenges encountered when employing HAM and survey a collection of state-of-the-art techniques and methodologies proposed to address these challenges. We finally present an overview of open topics and challenges in HAM, provide a summary of emerging trends for addressing them particularly using machine learning, and outline possible future directions. While there exists a large body of HAM methodologies, the techniques studied in this paper are developed, to a large extent, within the scope of invasive computing. Invasive computing introduces resource awareness into applications and employs explicit resource reservation to enable incremental application mapping and dynamic system management.

Resumen
SummaryClinical practice as well as research and quality-assurance benefit from unambiguous clinical information resulting from the use of a common terminology like the Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine – Clinical Terms (SNOMED CT). A common terminology is a necessity to enable consistent reuse of data, and supporting semantic interoperability. Managing use of terminology for large cross specialty Electronic Health Record systems (EHR systems) or just beyond the level of single EHR systems requires that mappings are kept consistent. The objective of this study is to provide a clear methodology for SNOMED CT mapping to enhance applicability of SNOMED CT despite incompleteness and redundancy. Such mapping guidelines are presented based on an in depth analysis of 14 different EHR templates retrieved from five Danish and Swedish EHR systems. Each mapping is assessed against defined quality criteria and mapping guidelines are specified. Future work will include guideline validation.

Resumen
We show that a (fuzzy) multivalued mapping carries a possibility and necessity measure defined over (fuzzy) subsets of a first universe into a system of upper and lower possibilities and necessities defined over (fuzzy) subsets of a second universe. Upper possibilities (resp. lower necessities) form again a possibility measure (resp. necessity measure), while lower possibilities and upper necessities both form a confidence measure. The approach presented is based on possibilistic conditioning, in particular on the definitions of conditional possibilities and necessities in a general framework based on triangular norms and conorms. In case of a multivalued mapping, upper and lower possibilities and necessities can be expressed equivalently in terms of conditional possibilities and necessities of lower and upper inverse images under the given multivalued mapping, or in terms of a basic possibility assignment and a basic necessity assignment. In case of a fuzzy multivalued mapping, such equivalent expressions cannot be established in general. Upper and lower possibilities and necessities can then be introduced in two alternative ways. For normalized fuzzy multivalued mappings or crisp multivalued mappings, interesting relationships are obtained.

Resumen
In this research study, we investigate the ability of deep learning neural networks to provide a mapping between features of a parallel distributed discrete-event simulation (PDDES) system (software and hardware) to a time synchronization scheme to optimize speedup performance. We use deep belief networks (DBNs). DBNs, which due to their multiple layers with feature detectors at the lower layers and a supervised scheme at the higher layers, can provide nonlinear mappings. The mapping mechanism works by considering simulation constructs, hardware, and software intricacies such as simulation objects, concurrency, iterations, routines, and messaging rates with a particular importance level based on a cognitive approach. The result of the mapping is a synchronization scheme such as breathing time buckets, breathing time warp, and time warp to optimize speedup. The simulation-optimization technique outlined in this research study is unique. This new methodology could be realized within the current parallel and distributed simulation modeling systems to enhance performance.

Resumen
The usage of Digital Photogrammetric Systems leads to increasing the mapping capabilities and efficiency through a full automation or in some cases half automation of mapping procedures. The digital image processing has possibility to improve the photogrammetric mapping implementation concerning the functionality and performance results relation. The goal of research is to investigate the functionality, flexibility and efficiency of two Digital Photogrammetric Mapping Systems for 3D surface modelling from aerial photographs. The experimental photogrammetric measurements have been carried out using DDPS software (Photogrammetric Package for Digital Aerial Photographs) as well as DPW (Digital Photogrammetric Workstation) LISA FOTO. The results of comparison between these two photogrammetric software show capabilities and possibilities for getting best results in digital photogrammetric processing. The analysis demonstrates that DDPS does not fulfil fully a typical workflow in digital photogrammetric mapping. However, the digital surface modelling is more efficient in time‐consuming. There is no doubt that DPW LISA FOTO together with image processing module LISA BASIC have more priorities, potentials and leads to wide applications. Despite this fact, DPW work is more complicated than DDPS in such aspects as stereo model creation, interpretation capabilities etc. The best digital photogrammetric mapping work flow could be achieved when integrating these two systems for getting a more efficient and highest productivity.

Resumen
This paper presents a team-theoretic approach to cooperative multirobot systems. The individual actions of the robots are controlled by the Belief-Desire-Intention model to endow the robots with theknow-howneeded to execute these actions deliberately. The cooperative behaviors between the heterogeneous robots are governed by the Team-Log theory to endow all the robots in the team with theknow-how-to-cooperateand determine the team members’ commitments to each other despite their different types, properties, and goals. The proposed approach is tested for validity with the real life problem of minefield mapping. Different minefield sweeping strategies are studied to control the mobility of the mobile sweepers within the minefield in order to maximize the area coverage and improve picture compilation capability of the multirobot system.

Resumen
A method is proposed to efficiently determine the basins of attraction of a nonlinear system’s different steady-state solutions. The phase space of the dynamical system is spacially discretized and the continuous problem in time is converted to an iterative mapping. By means of interpolation procedures, an improvement in the system accuracy over the Simple Cell Mapping technique is achieved. Both basins of attraction for a representative nonlinear system and characteristic system trajectories are generated and compared to exact solutions.
