Santiteerakul, Salinee. "Supplier performance measurement system for sustainable supply chain Management : application to Thai electronics industry". Thesis, Lyon 2, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014LYO22005/document.
Texto completoThis thesis aims to clarify a sustainability implementation into supply chain and to develop a tool for measuring sustainability performance in supply chain and improving the sustainability performance for electronic industry in Thailand. This research has divided into three phases; the first phase is to clarify a sustainability measurement framework in supply chain. This framework allows decision makers identifying the sustainability measures based on their interesting area in sustainability criteria. There are eight categories of sustainability criteria in this framework which are financial, non-financial, raw material, natural resources, energy, human health and safety, human resources development, and ethical issues. The sustainability criteria in this framework have developed based on the concept of human needs and the triple bottom line concept. It have been justified by analyze with standard, guide line, and regulation involving sustainable development perspective. Moreover, this proposed framework enhances an engagement level of elements in supply chain as an important perspective to identifying the sustainability measures. After developing the conceptual framework for measuring sustainability performance, this thesis has proposed an approach to construct the performance measurement model. This work enhances the valuable of adopting the value chain model (Porter, 2008) and the process based approach (Chan and Qi, 2003) for constructing the sustainability measures model. This leads to an implementation of the proposed framework allowing decision makers to measures sustainability performance in any process or activity in the company and its supply chain. In order to implementing the proposed conceptual framework and the model construction method in practical situation, this thesis has selected the supplier performance evaluation problem for measuring sustainability performance. The second phase of this work is the development of the tool for measuring sustainability performance by focusing on supplier evaluation problem. The measurement tool is developed based on multi-criteria decision method. This model is not used for making a decision such as selecting the best supplier but it is a multicriteria decision aiding which help manager to establish supplier improvement program based on the results. The measurement tool is developed based on a fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) approach. This thesis has proposed three FAHP methods by modified the extent analysis method (Method-I), modified the normalization approach (Method-II), and employed the weakest t-norm arithmetic (Method-III) for determining the fuzzy priority weight. These methods are easy to adopt in real-life problem in industry. The method-I is less complexity than method-II and method-III respectively but the method-I also obtains the larger fuzzy spread than method-II and method-III respectively. It is depends on the decision makers to select the proposed FAHP among these three methods for implementing in their situations. The results from supplier’s performance help manager for setting the direction to improve supplier’s sustainability by using the normalization rating from measurement model. The third phase of this thesis is an implementation of the proposed framework and proposed FAHP in the case study company in Thai electronics industry. The case study company aims to evaluate sustainability performance of their suppliers in order to manage and improve supplier’s performance. The sustainability performance measurement model consists of 10 indicators and 25 sustainability measures based on three dimensions (economic, environmental, and social). It is found that the importance weight of economic, environmental, and social dimension are 50.87%, 34.86%, and 15.14% respectively. It means that an economic performance is still the most important and the social performance is the less important of supplier’s evaluation
Yang, Yanyan. "Towards more efficient and resilient supply chain management through interconnection of logistics networks". Thesis, Paris Sciences et Lettres (ComUE), 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016PSLEM036/document.
Texto completoIrrespective of significant performance achieved, today’s logistics networks are overwhelmingly dedicated to an actor and therefore poorly interconnected. This fragmentation exhibits inevitable inefficiency and needs to be changed in respond to today’s new arising challenges in efficiency and resilience. To solve this antagonism, an innovative concept - Physical Internet (PI) - has been proposed which is a fully interconnected, open, dynamic logistics system. In such a system, the facilities and means of transportation can be dynamically organized and allocated in the short-term or long-term according to the economic environment. As a result, decisions can be made dynamically, agilely, and thus optimally. This thesis studies the perspectives of the PI to inventory management and transportation regarding the challenges in efficiency and resilience. As the efficiency of the PI to transportation has been carried out in literature, the first objective of this thesis is to explore the potentials of the PI to inventory management. To this end, we firstly qualitatively examine the new practices brought by the PI and conclude three main characteristics: 1) Distributed stocks near end customers; 2) Transshipment of inventories; and 3) multiple dynamic source options. Corresponding inventory models and solutions are proposed and evaluated with numerical experiments in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG). This part of study gives a guideline for the vendors applying the PI to make inventory decisions in such an open logistic system. The second objective is to analyze the resilience of the proposed PI enabled inventory and transportation model confronted to disruptions. The proposed inventory and transportation model are extended with different disruptions at facilities including plants and hubs. Different disruption strategies are developed. Numerical studies in FMCG are carried out.In a word, this research investigates the inventory management in the PI and the resilience of PI enabled logistics models. It is the first time such a work is done and it should be upfront. From the results of studies, there is no doubt that the PI changes today’s supply chains design and improve the performance of supply chain management both in efficiency, effectiveness and resilience

Texto completoThe latest IPCC report (2022) sounds the alarm bell on the acceleration and intensification of climate change. More than ever, researchers should focus their attention on processes likely to transform our production and consumption patterns to make them more sustainable. Rooted in the field of transition studies, and more especially on the multilevel perspective, and by jointly mobilizing Karl Weick's work on sensemaking and sensegiving (Weick, 1989, 1995, 2005), our reseach aims to bring a new understanding of transition by identifying its micro-foundations and more specifically by understanding how individuals influence both transition and supply chain management (Geels, 2020).Thanks to a multiple and comprehensive case study, mobilizing several methods (semi-structured interviews, observations, and secondary data and press archives), we retrace sensemaking processes of retailers' employees, industrial leaders, and entrepreneurs, and identify both their action and their justifications. Several interpretations of transition, with specific repercussions on supply chain management had been identified. According to our findings, both transition and supply chain management models should be considered as eminently interpretative concepts. Resulting of social processes, they are influenced by interaction and which can also be influenced by intermediary devices
Cabrini, Carmagnac Liliane. "A critical perspective on collective arrangements tackling wicked problems in global supply networks : the case of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil". Electronic Thesis or Diss., Paris 1, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020PA01E033.
Texto completoDeforestation, climate change and poverty have become some of the hottest topics of this century. Both scholars and practitioners recognize them as major societal grand challenges, with a growing number of academics referring to them as “wicked problems”. Due to their complex, uncertain and controversial nature, wicked problems cannot be effectively handled by individual actors. Their magnitude calls for a collective governance approach, including a wide range of heterogeneous actors with a diverse set of expertise and background, each of them bringing a different perspective to the problem. The purpose of this research is to better understand the role of collective arrangements tackling wicked problems in the context of global supply networks. This study is mainly framed within the field of sustainable supply chain management (SSCM). Although collective initiatives are the focus of a growing number of studies in the SSCM literature, scholars from the discipline still refer to these players as “nontraditional” supply chain actors. The political CSR (PCSR) theoretical stream complements the SSCM literature and provides a new perspective to shed the light on the effectiveness and legitimacy of collective arrangements in dealing with wicked problems in global supply networks. This research adopts an inductive qualitative approach and explores collective arrangements through the case of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). The findings are articulated around four papers, exploring the following issues: (1) the role of nontraditional actors in the governance of SSCM; (2) the mechanisms employed by a leading collective initiative to promote sustainability along the palm oil supply network; (3) the “dark sides” of these new forms of governance of wicked problems and; (4) the construction of a collective identity and a legitimate authority in tackling wicked problems. In contrast to the current normative approach of PCSR, mobilizing the discourse analysis methodology in the PCSR field to shed light on the political multivocal discursive construction of collective identities, contributes to the exposure of subtle and less-apparent power dynamics, underpinning the legitimacy construction of collective initiatives. By adopting a critical approach, the main contribution of this research to the SSCM literature is the shift from the traditional SCM assumptions of linearity (dominated by the focal-firm-centric perspective) to a more integrative logic at the supraorganizational level. In doing so, it is possible to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the role of collective arrangements in the context of supply networks and reveal their underlying political and power struggles in framing the different facets of wicked problems

Texto completoThe Humanitarian supply Chain is a key element to enhance a performing response to humanitarian crisis. Because of the internal and external pressure, Humanitarian Organizations (HO) has done efforts during last decades to improve the crisis response in terms of effectiveness and efficiency. However, the performance is challenged by the increasing gap between funding and needs. The main donors ask for more transparency and accountability. Moreover, the pressure from the international community is pushing HO to integrate Sustainability challenges on a near future. Is in this context, and field research results, that the difficulties to consider sustainability on HSC decision-making. The lack of Decision Support Systems and a sustainability culture specific to the HSC have been identified as break to improve the planning of sustainable humanitarian operations. This research work seeks to introduce the sustainability notion to the management of the HSC. The approach followed is the development of a decision support system based on performance, to plan the HSC operations. Three research directions have been explored: (a) How to gather an exhaustive knowledge of a HSC, for both field research and development of DSS? The proposed contribution is a Meta-Model of the HSC, for field research porpoise and for developing adequate Decision Support Systems. (b) What sustainability means in HSC context? Based on a literature review and field research, a framework is established to define the HSC sustainable performance. (c) How to make sustainable decisions during humanitarian response? This contribution is based on an Operational Research Algorithm, which permits to integrate the sustainable performance on decision making with an interactive approach. The thesis illustrates the three contributions with use cases based on the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC)

Kafa, Nadine. "Proposition d'une démarche de sélection de partenaires dans une chaîne logistique en boucle fermée durable". Thesis, Paris 8, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015PA080027.
Texto completoReverse logistics network design is a crucial issue in which it is important to take into account the selection of the most appropriate partner with sustainability concerns. This partner can be a supplier or a third-party reverse logistics provider (3PRLP). However, research works that consider reverse logistics (RL) network design, partner selection, and sustainability issues simultaneously are rather limited till now. This research work proposes an integrated sustainable approach for partner selection and closed-loop supply chain (CLSC) network configuration, particularly in the case of outsourcing reverse logistics process to third-party provider. We propose a trade-off between sustainability criteria for both supplier and 3PRL provider selection. A multi-objective mixed-integer programming (MILP) model is also proposed to configure CLSC network and to select the best partners. The model minimizes the total cost of sourcing, and the total greenhouse gas emissions, while it maximizes the total value of reverse logistics, and the number of new job opportunities. A numerical example is also presented to illustrate the proposed approach

Texto completoWe address the problem of supply chain management in the context of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). We propose an integrated approach allowing the operationalization of the economic, environmental and social performances at the strategic, tactical and operational decision levels of the supply chain. In particular, we apply our approach to the strategic and tactical levels, for the problem of sustainable insourcing/outsourcing of the activities of the value chain on the one hand (strategic decision), and for the problem of the strategic-tactical planning of a sustainable supply chain on the other hand. In the former case, we combine value analysis with performance measurement using AHP method (Analytical Hierarchy Process), an aggregative multi-criteria technique. In the latter, we develop a multi-objective mathematical program that we apply to a realistic case inspired by the Canadian lumber industry. After solving the problem, we obtain a multitude of compromise solutions (Pareto optimums) presenting different performance levels following the economic, environmental and social dimensions, allowing the decision maker to choose the solution that reflects best his/her CSR strategy. This application illustrates the proposed method and allows us to assess the practical value of our approach

Texto completoThis thesis focus on the coordination of planning decisions in a two-level supply chain composed of one supplier and one retailer. Each actor wants to minimize his own cost. The planning decisions independently took by the actors can lead to a poor performance in terms of costs, hence the necessity of coordination. We study cost sharing mechanisms between the actors by designing contracts. In this work, we consider the case where the retailer (resp. supplier) can impose his optimal production plan to the supplier (resp. retailer). Different cost sharing hypothesis, as well as the asymmetric information problem are taking into account in this thesis. We also perform an experimental analysis in order to evaluate the decrease of the supply chain cost obtained when the actors cooperate. This context leads us to study new lot-sizing problems for which we propose a complexity analysis and dynamic programming algorithms in order to solve them. We also propose a theoritical study of two-level lot-sizing problems with inventory bounds

Texto completoThe growing global population and its effect on food security and the urgency for climate change mitigation, are issues that foster innovations to increase the efficiency of the use of natural resources. Among them, biomass is a renewable resource highly available. A biorefinery can transform biomass in source of energy, materials and chemical products. However, at the early stage of a biorefinery project, strategic decisions have to be made, including location, production capacity or technology to be used, determining the project’s feasibility. As a consequence, the decision process needs to consider several aspects, as the specific conditions of the territory where the project is supposed to be deployed. A recent study shows that despite this problem has been treated by the multiple objective programming community, the main focus has been centered on factors of economic profitability. However, consider the whole dimensions of sustainability, “Economical”, “Social”, “Environmental”, “Technological” and “Political” is essential in this kind of project. Under these conditions, not all available optimization tools are suitable. Hence, a preliminary study about multi-objective optimization tools is realized. Then, a general optimization modeling strategy integrating the sustainability dimensions at the early stage of a biorefinery project is developed. To finish, the developed model is applied to the case study of biorefinery deployment in Colombia. It will permit a better visibility for decision makers, because its capability to propose scenarios and evaluate sustainability trade-offs by integrating stakeholders preferences

Texto completoEven though sustainable development continues to grow, it is difficult to implement in a company’s everyday operations. Particularly, the sector of transportation and logistics is struggling to reduce its environmental and social impacts. This research aims to compare the theoretical foundations of sustainable development to the practices of a Third Party Logistics Provider "3PL". It helps to understand the process of the emergence of a sustainable development policy in a business: Corporate Social Responsibility "CSR" and to participate in the development of projects that highlight the tensions between environmental or social impacts and the economic imperative. The result is a new approach to put into practice sustainable development through improvement and optimization projects related to the business at different levels (strategic, tactical and operational) and in several areas (transportation, handling and storage). Mix integer programming optimization model for platform location and flows assignment, vehicle routing and data analysis of eco-driving have been developed and applied in the company for this purpose. The cases studied in this thesis show that for some types of projects, economic interest and response to the requirements of CSR evolve in the same direction. For others, a compromise between the economic, social and environmental factors could be a good solution pending new technologies that would ensure sustainable solutions

Texto completoContainerization revolutionized international trade in the 20th century. The introduction of the container, as a standard means of transporting goods, has had a profound impact on maritime trade and has radically changed the functioning of ports. Indeed, ports have continued to grow through the construction of new container terminals (CT) and also by improving their services by reducing delays and delivery costs. At the same time, risk management in CTs has received a lot of attention in recent years due to an increase in fraudulent container activities. The international community has proposed several initiatives to improve the security of maritime transport. However, the risk assessment of containers remains a difficult task, often due to incomplete or ambiguous container information. On the other hand, reducing the ecological footprint on the environment has become a major concern in containerized transport. Faced with this ecological challenge, the last-mile players in the container logistics chain must improve and optimize their infrastructure and think of new land transport modes of containers with a lower environmental footprint than conventional diesel transport modes, without having an impact on performance. With this in mind, the first objective of this thesis focuses on improving the performance of the container inspection process. Thus, we propose a new adaptive approach to container inspection prioritization. We named this approach APRICOIN (Adaptive PRIoritizing Container INspection). This approach exploits the concept of intelligent product as well as fuzzy logic and data mining techniques. This approach is based on three stages. The first step is to improve the information flow and to ensure this truthfulness by means of the capabilities of the intelligent container. Thus we propose an enriched description of the container (DEC). The second step is to prioritize container inspection by assigning a risk score using fuzzy logic. The final step is to prioritize the inspection of the containers and use the inspection results to adjust the accuracy of the APROCOIN algorithm and to adapt to the new risk factors using the data mining technique. In order to validate the proposed approach, an illustrative case study was conducted as well as a comparative study with other alternative approaches. The second objective of this thesis focuses on the green truck project, which is particularly aimed at short-haul container road hauliers in the port area by ensuring an energy transition from the fleet of diesel tractors to electric tractors with rechargeable batteries. It consists in exploiting the short wait times of the vehicle, in order to automatically recharge the vehicle's battery. Thus, in this thesis, we have explored the different techniques and methods of recharging batteries of electric road tractors taking into account operating constraints, and evaluate the economic feasibility of implementing such system. The Anylogic simulation was used to size the batteries and the charging stations of electric vehicles. In addition technical and economic results with 3D animated and graphic representations was provided

Texto completoThe digital world with constantly evolution gives rise to the precious concept , "data" that is known as the black gold. In accordance with this evolution, database management systems, which play an important role in data valuation, are becoming an essential element of information systems and decision- making processes. With respect to the digital revolution, data is generated every second in a huge volume, by multiple sources and with different formats.Despite the fact that managing large and dispersed data is a problematic issue , we could not neglect the precious value that could potentially be gained through raw data exploration. This heterogeneity translates into the need for an integrated system to efficiently store, process and analyze the huge amount of scattered data. The phenomenon of huge data, known as big data, requires a decision-making system with an appropriate architecture that stores the heterogeneous data and supports the main characteristics of the big data environment, such as the data volume, the veracity, velocity and veracity. The data lake, which is a centralized storage system, is a good answer to these arising problems to receive raw data on a large scale in their native formats. Concerning this goal, it is clear that the infrastructure and architecture of the data lake have a significant impact on the profitability and functionality of the overall system. In this regard, the design and management of the data lake structure requires practical and innovative methods in order to achieve an integrated and optimal centralized repository. By considering the systematic structure of the data lake as well as the hierarchical architecture of the systems, a logistical vision could lead us to the defined objectives. The supply chain is a good example of logistics systems where hierarchical participants are coordi- nated within an integrated network in order to prepare a product or render services to targeted consumers. The logistics structure as well as the supply chain management strategies could be an innovative source of inspiration to design, manage and optimize a data management system based on a logistics vision. For this reason, the implementation of the analog method between systematic structures clarifies to what extent one could take advantage of management strategies derived from the supply chain to develop the architecture and performance of the data lake.In this thesis, we hypothesize that it is possible to describe a data lake and its functionality by comparing it to the logistical structure of a supply chain. On the basis of these objectives:First, we are interested in relying on several data lake architectures and verifying the effectiveness of these architectures on the performance of the data lake, in particular in relation to data governance and the quality of services. In a second step, we introduce the supply chain, supply chain management and the methods that are used frequently to optimize the supply chain. Furthermore we compare all the elements of this data lake logistics system and focus on their similar points in order to use the data lake supply chain management methods.Thirdly, we propose a new architecture for data lake based on supply chain definition thanks to the evolutionary process of modeling the structures of data lakes. We finish this work by optimizing the proposed data lake architecture with supply chain network design strategies and propose the methods to solve the defined mathematical optimization model

Texto completoIn United States, the pharmaceutical laboratories have decided to tackle the numerous sources of wastes existing in the pharmaceutical supply chain. Although we are still far from a generalization of these practices, as well we are far from a generalization of supply chain management practices in the pharmaceutical supply chain, lean manufacturing and the introduction of the Inventory Management Agreement (IMA) --announcing the beginning of a new era in the drug supply chain--are the new solutions introduced in order to reach a better pharmaceutical supply chain management The Inventory Management Agreement, signed between the pharmaceutical laboratories and the wholesalers -who, during years, managed the drug marketing channel-, should help today to leave behind speculative strategies in favour of practices permitting to decrease the level of stocks all along the drug supply chain. The transformations that the laboratories want to impulse reconsider the presence of the wholesalers as essential actors within the pharmaceutical supply chain. These ones are forced to introduce supply chain management practices as they do not want to be seen as an obstacle for an efficient management of the supply chain preventing them to be, in the future, maintained as a full actor within the drug supply chain

Texto completoThe topic of this thesis is about environmental and societal impacts abatement within the green supply chain. This thesis is taking place in the Laboratory of Industrial Engineering and Production of Metz (LGIPM). Our goal is to develop a decision support system in choosing a path with the less environmental and societal impacts. For building our decision support system, we defined a mathematical model which computes for each part in our transportation network, the travel time, the transportation cost and the damage due to transshipment, the amount of greenhouse gas emissions that are emitted, the energy consumption, the noise emitted and the accident risk. From this graph, we built a multiobjective shortest path problem. A multiobjective ant colony algorithm MOSPACO (Ant colony optimization for multiobjective shortest path problem) is then proposed to solve the proposed multiobjective shortest path problem; this new algorithm aims to take into account the large number of criteria and intermodal network. The running of the algorithm gives a Pareto front from which the decision maker can choose his desired itinerary

Texto completoThe main scope of these works is the spare parts supply chain management, particularly the improvement of forecasting and inventory management performance. The specificity of low and erratic demand does not allow the use of conventional approaches of forecasting. Moreover, the associated performance measurements, based on purely statistical indicators, are not adapted to this context. Indeed, it should align with different levels of expectations of the maintenance contracts. After a presentation of the processes and tools used by the dedicated literature. Here we propose new performance analysis approaches seeking to combine the statistical performance of forecasting methods and inventory management performance while considering decision makers priorities and using demand pattern as well as parts age segmentations. These works also address the use of customer differentiation in the inventory model based on forecasting, by comparing the performance of the critical level policy with the common stock and separated stock policies. Each studied process was associated with a comparative analysis of different forecasting methods and inventory management models based on real data of the spare parts supply chain of GE Healthcare, which allowed us to define a set of methods and parameters recommendations according to both part segmentations and supply chain priorities

Texto completoA push for increased professionalism during disaster relief operations has been reinforced over the last decade. The uncertainties humanitarian organisations have to cope with and the vital importance of their success has incited them to develop their ability to respond quickly and adequately to short-term changes. This agility capability is becoming highly prized by the private sector. Starting from a framework of supply chain agility, this thesis analyses humanitarian methods and defines an agility maturity model aiming to measure and improve the agility capability of a supply chain. As agility often depends on the adequate balance between delivery capacity and needs, our second problemstatement aims to design a logistics network that can operate under high levels of uncertainty so that for a given level of service in terms of agility, efficiency is maximized. Our study quantifies the impact on costs of various decisions, such as network design, supply strategy or level of service

They are interfaces between cost advantages on global markets and value advantages on local markets with flexibility, customer service and sustainable requirements. Consequently, outbound warehouse location evolution has impact on firm performance and should be evaluated by key performance indicators (KPIs). In order to identify the key performance indicators linked to outbound warehouse location, the different supply chain strategies, global, local, sustainable, lean, agile, leagile have been studied to understand the main goals pursued. Strategic fit or alignment between the different strategies (overall, marketing, distribution, sustainable, supply chain) implies that KPI used for these strategies are aligned with warehouse location evolution KPIs. A qualitative research, with several study cases have been done in collaboration with several leaders in the specialized retail sector and third party logistics in Rhône-Alpes area. Data analysis has been conducted on NVivo software. The links between global, local, sustainable dimension and the lean, agile, leagile paradigms imply the different KPIs that could be used to evaluate warehouse evolution location. The main findings are to characterize the glocal supply chain, to present a warehouse location evolution matrix according to lean, agile, leagile paradigms and global, local, sustainable dimensions. The contribution is also to build a balanced scorecard with the main KPIs for warehouse evolution location

Texto completoThe hospital systems are a place of health care distinguished by the variety of activities and situations with which they are confronted. This creates interactions leading into unexpected situations related to several risks. The risk management appears as an important concern for the decisions makers. More particularly, the risk management in the operating theatres has a major importance given that they are about a highly strategic in relation to the many activities they include and the costs they generate. The zero risk does not exist. Never theless, it can be reduced. This research aims to control risk management in operating rooms. This research gets in collaboration between l’Ecole Centrale de Lille and the University Hospital (UH) of Sousse Sahloul, field of study chosen to implement the proposed approach. Since non system of risk management has been implemented in this establishment, this work is significant and original for the UH Sahloul. Our approach is made up of several steps. First, following a comparison between the existing methods of risk management, we chose to adapt the method of risk management FMECA (Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis) in operating rooms of UH Sahloul, Sousse. We propose a decision support system for risk management based on multi-agent approach in order to guide contributors in the operating rooms making the best decisions to minimize risks which occur in UH Sahloul. Finally, a simulation based on the proposed approach is implemented in the UH Sahloul

Texto completoThis research aims to define and assess the performance of a different logistics organization: the pooling of supply chains. It implies to design a pooled logistics network within several companies by sharing logistics resources (warehouses, distribution centers, transportation means, etc. ) and logistics systems, in order to improve supply chains' logistics performance. The performance of this new logistics organization was assessed by two criteria: primarily the environmental criteria measured by the CO2 emissions from transport and secondly economic consequences measured by the logistics cost. The difference between environment optimization and economic optimization was also examined. Two cases study were conducted in collaboration with French logistical organizations (Club Demeter and FEEF), respectively based on the major food suppliers and the small and medium food suppliers of the fast moving consumer goods in France. The optimization models for transport optimization aiming to minimize CO2 emissions or logistics cost were formalized and implemented in order to design pooled networks. The results obtained show that the pooling supply chains lead to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions from transport: between -20% and -50% according to the cases studied. The economic performance is less remarkable, but also often more beneficial than the current situation. This performance depends in particular on the relative evolution of transportation costs between rail and road. For example, carbon taxation could allow a better transport allocation from an environment and an economic standpoint

Texto completoThis thesis studies how to incorporate typical social preferences, such as fairness concerns and reciprocity, into the context of supply chain. The impacts of theses social preferences on the supply chain’s decisions, channel efficiency and coordination are investigated. Specifically, it focuses on three important questions as follows: 1, what are the differences between the conventional channel and the behavioral channel (e.g., fairness-concerned channel and reciprocal channel)? 2, how do these behavioral factors influence the decisions of the supplier and the retailer in the supply chain? 3, what effects have these social preferences on the coordination of the channel and its efficiency? In order to answer these questions, two models of behavioral operations are formulated. A newsvendor model for a dyadic supply chain with Nash bargaining fairness concerns is built first. In this model, a supplier plays Stackelberg game with a retailer who faces stochastic demand. Nash bargaining solution is used as fairness reference to formally depict perceptively fair compromise, which is a new perspective to study fairness concerns in a supply chain. Then a similar dyadic channel in which a retailer and/or a supplier have a preference for reciprocity is investigated, but the retailer is facing deterministic demand. In this model, the impact of intention is studied within the context of supply chain for the first time. Some interesting and valuable managerial insights are drawn by analyzing the two behavioral models. For example, fairness concern does have great impact on the difficulty of coordinating a channel. In addition, the dyadic channel with reciprocity can be coordinated by using a constant wholesale price, which implies that the problem of double marginalization is not necessary to be present all the time

Texto completoIn this PhD dissertation, we investigated the way of exploiting the demand forecasts for the upstream flow management in a context of mass production of highly diverse products and of geographical dispersion of the production units. When the forecasts are poorly exploited, phenomena similar to the well-known bullwhip effect in the downstream supply chain appear in the upstream supply chain altering permanently its performances. In order to counter some of the mechanisms underlying these phenomena, we proposed an adaptation of the MRP to perform the exploitation of the forecasted demand. The adaptation of the MRP is based on a calculation method that uses the planning BOM for calculating and transmitting replenishment levels along the upstream supply chain. This approach has been successfully tested on several application studies in the automotive industry

Texto completoLogistics and Supply Chain Management (SCM) are advocated as improvement areas for the performance of construction sites. Initiatives and attempts to improve supply chains have been implemented recently. In particular, Construction Logistics Centers (CLCs) are gaining more interest among general contractors trying to restructure their materials management methods in complex and confined urban sites. Given the lack of experience and research in the literature regarding CLC solutions and services, this research work aims to contribute to a better understanding of CLC implementation and its corresponding effects. This research work was prepared mainly by a deep investigation of the construction logistics through semi-structured interviews. Lack of time, scarcity of tools, difficulty in estimating costs and benefits and in mobilizing partners were the main difficulties identified in the implementation of a logistics solution. Three levels of criteria are proposed to better understand the choice of these solutions for construction projects. Then, a real experimentation of CLC has been investigated. In fact, this supply system has reduced deliveries, saved time for the workers and improved ergonomics. Nevertheless, it requires more advanced management and causes difficulties in inventory control. Recommendations were provided, both at the strategic and operational levels, for better implementation. The financial viability of CLC from a construction site perspective as well as the effects in terms of deliveries and storage, are also investigated. The results of the exploratory simulation show a relatively positive financial balance and a potential reduction of 26%, 36% and 44% in the number of pallets, storage area and excess storage, respectively. This work has been capitalized in the form of applications that are made available to construction teams. Towards the end of this research work, the effect of CLC on the polluting emissions from the transport of materials is evaluated based on a case study. The results of this study showed a reduction of up to 9%, 12%, 10%, 18%, 19% and 9% of CO2, PM2.5, PM10, CO, NOx and VOC emissions, respectively

Next, by using data from qualitative interviews and a quantitative survey collected from Chinese buyers in France, this thesis creates a guanxi measurement scale for Sino-Franco buyer-supplier relationship, and reveals that guanxi’s positive impact on supply chain performance is mediated by supply chain collaboration. Furthermore, through draw on the survey data of 200 Chinese manufacturers with overseas business, this thesis demonstrates that the mediated relationship between guanxi and supply chain performance is moderated by individual culture. Our research results not only empirically prove guanxi’s importance in the international market, but also uncover that the effectiveness of different types of guanxi that depends on the partner’s cultural orientation
Zheng, Yahong. "Supply chain management under availability & uncertainty constraints". Thesis, Ecole centrale de Lille, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012ECLI0019/document.
Texto completoSupply chain management involves a wide range of activities. Among most of them, uncertainty exists inherently and always brings some consequence not expected. However, uncertainty is not considered much in conventional supply chain management. In the case where availability of resources is not what we expect, complexity of supply chain management increases. Taking constraints of uncertainty and availability into account, we aim to discuss supply chain management from different aspects. This thesis is an attempt of systematic and complete research from this point and we would like to offer some references to researchers and managers in supply chain. We focus on three classic sources of uncertainty: demand, manufacturing and distribution. For each source of uncertainty, we analyze its cause and its impact to the performance of the supply chain. Uncertainty is specified into concrete classic problem and an approach is proposed to solve it. Furthermore, bi-level newsboy problem as a miniature of supply chain, is focused under double uncertain environment. Treating uncertain variables is actually a treatment on operational level. The methods used offer good demonstration in treating uncertain variables in decision problems

Texto completoThe research is developed in connection with the evolution in quality and efficiency of reverse logistics of urban solid waste. Therefore, after observing how reverse logistics is currently being executed in two Brazilian cities (Fortaleza, State of Ceará and Osasco, State of São Paulo), quantitative and qualitative management optimization procedures are suggested. In other words, such optimization procedures suggest that traditional management models currently used in public administration can enhance performance and efficiency if appropriate mathematical, computational and managerial tools are used.A mathematical model was formulated capable to accomplish an optimized quantitative analysis for the location of facilities within the ambit of reverse logistics and, then, it was indicated which is the best type of public management so that the proposed model is used with high performance and efficiency. To optimize solutions in the context of urban solid waste management, linear programming techniques are used.A computer program developed for this research was used to perform the simulations. The efficiency and versatility of the computer program were evaluated through the analysis of several examples for determining the optimized location of facilities in Fortaleza and in Osasco.Operational research is the basis for the construction of the mathematical model while the public-private partnership management model is the indication of the type of appropriate management so that the aforementioned mathematical and computational tool may present optimized solutions in the proposed reverse logistics urban solid waste management model

Texto completoNowadays, a firm cannot meet its customers' requirements alone. It needs to rely on its Supply Chain : its providers, the providers of its providers, and the distributors. In this framework, the literature highlights the actors’ proneness to align their behaviors and to opt for a global behavior that integrates physical, informational and managerial characteristics. The purpose of this research is to understand by which coordination instruments does this postulate is carried out? On the other hand, these coordination instruments (contract, trust, power or opportunism), which often find their substance in the interpersonal relationships, feed a literature that tends to let one think that the idea of a behavioral alignment is not bearable in the interfirm relationships. To understand the interfirm relationships and its instruments in the automotive supply chain, we have explored a literature review on the firm, the interfirm relationships and the place granted to each coordination instrument. We also showed the specificity of the SCM concept, and more widely the Supply Chain concept. Then, a case study registered in a comprehensive approach, in Dumez sense (2014), constituted the empirical phases of our research. The confrontation of the theoretical material with the empirical material brought three ideal types of relationships to the foreground (Collaboration, Coordination and Transactional), whose instruments change from one to another, and differ if we are upstream or downstream. Within the same idealtype, and the same actors, there are ascendants (towards the customers) or descendants (towards the providers) instruments. This research has rested on the works on the leadership decisive role, on one hand in the building of a collaborative relationship with the providers and, on the other hand, its impact on the definition of the relationship measure. It also demonstrated that the place of the culture in the interfirm relationships is not always the same, but changes depending on the organizational system of the firm. Finally, this research shows the correlation between the organizational system building of the firms within each idealtype, and the five following main factors : the asset specificity, the product technicality, the time, the quality and the price

Texto completoIn an environment of increasingly unstable and uncertain, companies in general, have other choices only to search the global and durable performance which only could constitute a factor of sustainability and a major competing advantage. The global performance of companies’ acts on all the dimensions of the cycle of life of the product / service: from design to delivery to the consumer, reducing costs to be able to offer the best price to the customer. This optimization’s logistics endwise of the chain has become a vital necessity for the sustainability of the company.Today, businesses in general and logistics providers in particular, are confronted with the realization that modeling their supply chain needs to be reviewed more efficient and especially that the impacts of their activity must be taken into account : integrating environmental constraints in the management of their supply activities, distribution, transportation, ... and supply, distribution, of transport,… and to release some ways for economic, social and environmental progress, that must be the strategic challenge of the next decade.Hence, the need to adopt a specific management aiming to reconcile classical practices leading to the global performance, and innovative and specific practices that promote on sustainable development. Our research will treat the following problematic: how to realize the global performance of SMEs in the Transportation and Logistics sector in Morocco, by adopting the practices of sustainable development? Thus, we will treat in this work, a model of specific Management able to lead the Moroccan logistics providers to the global performance, while reconciling the various financial, social and environmental challenges For this purpose, we ask a key question: how the sustainable development is presented as an opportunity to achieve sustainable performance?

Texto completoOver the past decade, the supply chain concept has undergone significant evolution, transitioning toward an integrated approach that considers both upstream and downstream chains simultaneously. This evolution has led to the development of the closed-loop supply chain (CLSC), aimed at optimizing material utilization across various manufacturing processes. While progress in managing and designing CLSCs has been notable, most research approaches have primarily focused on economic aspects, often addressing environmental concerns as an afterthought or separately via life cycle assessment (LCA). The closure of the supply chain loop typically results in a more intricate system compared to traditional supply chains. Consequently, there is an urgent need for specifically tailored quantitative methods and models to assist managers and professionals in creating more efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable closed-loop systems. The overarching scientific objective of this study is to conduct an integrated analysis that combines CLSC management concepts and Life Cycle Assessment, exploring their interdependence. This investigation will be supported by the increased utilization of lead-acid batteries in motor vehicles, especially in the context of electric vehicles, considered a promising future vehicle option. The model formulation relies on a mixed-variable linear mathematical programming procedure (MILP), incorporating a multi-criteria approach focused on cost minimization and environmental impact. This formulation considers five tiers in the forward network (suppliers, producers, distributors, wholesalers, and retailers) and seven tiers in the reverse network (collection and recycling centers, product disposal, disassembly plant, raw material disposal, third parties, and remanufacturing). The multi-level multi-period strategy involves initially identifying and reducing significant criteria applicable in the multi-objective (in this case, bi-objective) optimization procedure. Two crucial criteria emerged: the total cost of the supply chain and total greenhouse gas emissions, which were recognized as conflicting, warranting the implementation of an epsilon-constraint procedure. The first application of decision support methods (M-TOPSIS and TOPSIS) facilitated the identification of potential supply chain configurations. Subsequently, a life cycle assessment was conducted on the Pareto front-end solutions, enabling a comprehensive multi-criteria analysis involving the selected impact analysis method (Impact 2002+) and the cost criterion. This step revealed solutions that outperformed those previously identified, validating the approach.Strategically, this required the development of environmental submodules for the supply chain blocks to consistently compute environmental indicators. This involved extracting data from the EcoInvent database and utilizing impact factors pertinent to the study's analysis method.Lastly, a sensitivity study highlighted that, for the case study: (i) an increase in the percentage of raw materials recovered from a product designated for recycling, (ii) an improved recovery rate, and (iii) enhancements in the manufacturing/remanufacturing process regarding GHG emissions, are particularly significant in improving the performance of all indicators

Texto completoIt is well known that the territorial industrial ecosystem is now a major issue in territory planning policies. As a result, it constitutes a system of action in which the various actors involved use different approaches and whose objectives are not always close and sometimes conflicting points of view. In all approaches, an ideal type of dashboard incorporating indicators and focusing on performance pilotage is emerging today from the literature. In this context, it appears the importance of the treatment of the problem of evaluation of a territorial industrial ecosystem and more precisely the evaluation of the performance of a distribution system in a port area: the hinterland. This subject has not been sufficiently developed in the literature since it has not been treated with a multidisciplinary approach. This problem is characterized by the strong link between the transport infrastructure, the territorial system and the logistics zones following the exchange of goods flows in the territory through the transport infrastructure. The theoretical contribution of this work is presented in the original investigation approach, which involves different theoretical approaches in order to understand and solve a problem related to two complex systems (the logistics system and the territorial system). For clarity, this work is a decision aid through the reflection on distribution solutions by integrating territorial specificities and not as a tool for optimizing tours or logistics organization

Texto completoIt is now necessary for an agrifood value chain to set-up and develop a coherent sustainability strategy for its various stakeholders and to communicate on the efforts made towards citizens and consumers, in demand for more and more sustainable products. To go beyond the first existing initiatives (specifications, labels, etc.), and effectively increase both their sustainable performance and the perceived quality of their offer, considering new management tools, built jointly between upstream and downstream can be a solution. However, the actors in these chains, with different interests and cultures, have individual visions of sustainability. Therefore, if they want to cooperate in order to improve the sustainable performance of their value chain, they should meet a minimum level of satisfaction for each of them. This work aims to propose new standardized and interoperable management tools for food value chains so that the actors can co-create shared sustainable value and move towards new modes of governance. The experimental context is French pork value chains, whose actors maintain contractual relations and have already tackled joint work on the sustainability of certain products. A first contribution focuses on reflection to build a metric to evaluate the sustainable performance of food value chains. The three following cases are dealing with the possibilities for actors in a food value chain to cooperate on common solutions for sustainability improvement. Contrasted alternative scenarios are compared between them and the results are confronted with the respective expectations of the different actors in the value chain. A fourth section focuses on the importance of standardized data sharing among the various actors to support the sustainable performance. Finally, a final section proposes a support model for participative work in order to facilitate a common strategy definition for sustainability

Texto completoThe main Supply Chain current issues concern the adaptation to unstable environments. Demand Driven Material Requirements Planning (DDMRP) is a recent and promising material management method that is designed to tackle these current issues. The research work details and classifies DDMRP compared to the other material management methods known. The goal of this work is to challenge the main DDMRP promises. This is why a design of experiments was realised on a case study in order to assess MRP II, Kanban and DDMRP behaviours with different variability sources. The DDMRP buffer sizing is a major issue. It was dealt with an optimisation work on a case study. All the contributions were experimented with a DDMRP implementation on a real case. The research work enables several DDMRP advantages to be validated, such as the system adjustment to different variability sources, however this work also allows research perspectives to be underlined

Texto completoThe coordination of logistics activities in a supply chain has recently received a lot of attention in operationsmanagement research. In a typical supply chain, finished products are produced and either shipped to be temporarystorage or arrived directly on time to the customers. To achieve optimal operational performance, the coordinationand integration of production, delivery, and storage is an important consideration. The recent study consideredcustomer storage cost with fixed transportation cost or fixed batch size, which is unrealistic. In this thesis, we studythe coordinate of batching and scheduling activities, which includes the coordination of batching of products inbatches after the production stage, the coordination of scheduling, customer(s) orders which require the deliveryfrom the supplier, and the storage of products at the customer(s). This study focus on single-supplier/multi-customerscenario and single-supplier/multi-transporter scenario. For the first scenario with multi-customer, two modelsillustrate the transferring of batches to the customer. Where in the first model, we considered a singlesupplier/ multicustomerwith one capacitated transporter available to serve the customers without the vehicle routingconsideration. Then, in the second model, we considered a single-supplier/multi-customer with multi-transportavailable to serve the customers. In this case different assumption is proposed and compared in the last chapter.Concerning the second scenario, we studied the case of single-supplier with multi-transporter available to serve asingle customer. In this scenario, models with homogeneous and heterogeneous vehicles are studied. The totalsystem cost is calculated by summing the total delivery and storage cost for different customers and transporters inthe system. The number of products by batch is unequal and they are limited only by the capacity of the transporterused. The storage cost of the customers depends on the customer destination, the distance between the supplierand their customers depends on the customer location, which is the case of the delivery cost also which depends onthe customer¿s location. In the case of the multi-transporters, the delivery cost depends on the transporter used.In each model, we present the following: solution procedures to solve each model, many numerical examples tosupport mathematical findings and to clarify the problem under study, and performance comparisons amongdifferent findings. The future extension of this research may involve considering setup time and cost constraints inthe production stage, the vehicle routing consideration with inventory in the multi-customer case
Hammadi, Lamia. "Custom supply chain engineering : modeling and risk management : application to the customs". Thesis, Normandie, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018NORMIR23.
Texto completoThe security, safety and efficiency of the international supply chain are of central importance for the governments, for their financial and economic interests and for the security of its residents. In this regard, the society faces multiple threats, such as illicit traffic of drugs, arms and other contraband, as well as counterfeiting and commercial fraud. For countering (detecting, preventing, investigating and mitigating) such threats, the role of customs arises as the gatekeepers of international trade and the main actor in securing the international supply chain. Customs intervene in all stages along the routing of cargo; all transactions leaving or entering the country must be processed by the custom agencies. In such an environment, customs become an integral thread within the supply chain. We adopt this point of view, with a particular focus on customs operations and, in order to underline this focus, we refer to this analysis as “customs supply chain”. In this thesis, we firstly set up the concept of customs supply chain, identify the actors and structural links between them, then establish the process mapping, integration approach and performance model. Secondly, we develop a new approach for managing risks in customs supply chain based on qualitative analysis. Such an approach leads to identify the risk classes as well as recommend best possible solutions to reduce the risk level. Our approach is applied in Moroccan customs by considering the criticality as a risk indicator. In a first time we use Failure Modes Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and Cross Activity Based Costing (ABC) Method and priority weight; in the second time we use Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Fuzzy AHP (i.e., risk assessment under uncertainty); then a benchmarking of the two indicators is conducted in order to examine the effectiveness of the obtained results. Finally, we develop stochastic models for risk time series that address the most important challenge of risk modeling in the customs context: Seasonality. To be more specific, we propose on the one hand, models based on uncertainty quantification to describe monthly components. The different models are fitted using Moment Matching method to the time series of seized quantities of the illicit traffic on five sites. On the other hand, Hidden Markov Models which are fitted using the EM-algorithm on the same observation sequences. We show that these models allow to accurately handle and describe the seasonal components of risk time series in customs context. It is also shown that the fitted models can be easily interpreted and provide a good description of important properties of the data such as the second-order structure and Probability Density Function (PDFs) per season per site
