Resumen
It’s no exaggeration to say that floods are among the most common and catastrophic natural disasters, with widespread impacts on ecosystems and human lives. The World Bank has concluded that India is one of the most flood-prone countries in the world. This research has been focused on identification of real-time flood hazard area in the Malda district (India) using SAR data, Sentinel-1A (C-band). ArcGIS, Erdas-Imagine, and SNAP were used for this analysis. These inundation layers were intersected with the Malda district village’s database to determine the full extent of the devastation caused by the floods and finally determined the real-time flood-impacted area (380.19 km² on 4th September and 338.87 km² on 10th September, 2019). It was noted that on 4th September, 766 and 10th September 765 villages were seriously devastated owing to water. Moreover, among the 15 blocks of this district, Harischandrapur-II (75.67%), Manikchak (68.60%) and Kaliachak-III (68.00%) have experienced the most flooding. Finally, in order to estimate the overall population, households and affected by the floods, stratified random sampling was carried out in the flood-impacted villages of the Malda district. The safest blocks are Chanchal-I, Gazole, Harischandrapur-I and Kaliachak-I and the highly vulnerable blocks are Harischandrapur-II, Kaliachak-III and Manikchak. According to the flood influences on children, the most vulnerable blocks are Malda Old, English Bazar, Kaliyachak-III, and Harishchandrapur-II.

Resumen
Alipurduar (also known as ‘Dooars’) was a subdivision of Jalpaiguri district before its emergence as the new 20th district of West Bengal on 25 June 2014. The districts of North Bengal (including Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur and Malda) have been poorly placed in comparison to the state of West Bengal, in terms of Human Development Indicators: low literacy level, poor condition in sanitation, and partly availability of electricity and safe drinking water (Report on Comparative Backwardness of North Bengal Region, Government of India, 2002). Research on regional disparity is essential for addressing the lacuna in the planning process of development (Sen, 2001). In the present study, an analysis has been made in terms of the inter-block inequality in socio-economic and infrastructural development of Alipurduar district as a newly emerged region.

Resumen
Flood is one of the most popular natural hazards that create havoc in the society. Flood involves inundation of a huge tract of area under water owing to heavy rainfall. Occurrence of flood lays a severe impact upon the agricultural sector. Flood not only brings about destruction of crops but also brings down the productivity of the soil. Malda district of West Bengal is not an exception in this regard. The district is one of the most flood prone districts and involves a lot of loss in crop production. The present study aims to identify the flood susceptible zones of the district through the application of Analytical Hierarchy Process and geospatial techniques and also makes an attempt to detect how much cropland falls within the very high susceptible flood prone area so that proper precautionary measures can be taken to minimize the maximum damage. The study results reveal that the western part of the district is more flood prone and about 55.27% of very high flood prone area is dominated by croplands. Hence, proper flood management techniques have to be adopted in this area to reduce the loss of production of crops owing to floods.

Resumen
Rural settlement, as man's living and practical space dabs the field since ancient time and structures an indispensable part of human life. A rural settlement, as the purpose of cause and main living place of human culture is the connecting string and life blood of every geographical study. An attempt has been made to analyse the spatial distribution of rural settlement according to their size. The size of settlement helps to identify the population threshold of social amenity, which is an important aspect of location studies as human settlements produce a certain degree of order in their distributional pattern over the space.

AbstractThe implementation of early warning systems is in line with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) 2015–2030. The Sendai Framework Priority 4 emphasizes improvement of preparedness and anticipation of disasters by establishing communities’ resilience to disaster. The development of a simple, low-cost early warning system that is universally accessible is needed to achieve the goals of the Sendai Framework. Universitas Gadjah Mada, incorporated with the Indonesian Standardization Agency (BSN) and the Indonesian Disaster Management Authority (BNPB), has promoted a new standard for community-based landslide early warning systems to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This standard, published as ISO 22327:2018, empowers individuals and communities vulnerable to landslides to act in sufficient time, and in appropriate ways to reduce the possibility of injuries, loss of life, and damage to property and the environment. It is designed to encourage communities to play a more active role in their own protection. ISO 22327:2018 adopts the concept of a people-centered early warning system by UNISDR (2006) to be used by communities vulnerable to landslides, and by government and non-governmental organizations at central, provincial, districts, sub-district, and village levels.

Resumen
Tourism is a major engine of economic growth in the world. In ancient times, travelers travelled from one country to another country or one region to another region in order to spread religion or for gaining knowledge about religion. Travelers or tourists travelling for religion or spiritual purposes are called religious tourists or pilgrimage tourists and that's where religious tourism developed. Pilgrims or devotees are sometimes seen travelling over long distances in the hope of gaining virtue. All over the world there are many religious spots like Hajj in Mecca, Church in Jerusalem, and four Dhams of India, etc. Malda, one of the most underdeveloped districts of West Bengal, has religious tourism potential. There is a saying, ‘First is Medina and then is Adina'. Apart from this, Ramkeli Village, and many Buddhist temples and Bihara are located there. Devotees of both the Hindu and Muslim faiths perform Puja at Jahuratala temple. This chapter is an attempt to analyse the pilgrimage tourist potential as well as the status of the pilgrimage tourism of Malda district.

Resumen
In the banking industry, technology has changed the way customers access the services offered by the banks. The present study investigates the factors that entice customers to use e-banking services. Data were collected from 600 respondents with the help of questionnaire from three regions of Punjab-Malwa, Majha, and Doaba and further six districts (i.e., Ludhiana and Patiala, Gurdaspur and Amritsar, and Hoshiarpur and Jalandhar). Further, 25 customers were interviewed from each bank (SBI, PNB, ICICI, and HDFC) chosen from the selected districts. To analyse customers' perceptions regarding preference and non-preference for e-banking services, the Kruskal Wallis test was implemented. A highly significant difference was found among the perceptions of customers regarding e-banking services with respect to demographics. A significant difference in customer perceptions existed in Gurdaspur and Jalandhar districts. No significant difference in customers' perception scores towards e-banking among the interactions (age, occupation, and income) of public and private sector banks was found.

Resumen
ABSTRACT Background: Despite rapid economic growth, stunting affects one third of the children under five population in Indonesia. The Government of Indonesia (GoI) realizing the problem, established the National Strategy to Accelerate Stunting Prevention as a national priority program for 2017 to 2021. The GoI plans to maximize the use of resources, policies, and programs that encompasses nutrition-specific and sensitive interventions directed to the first 100 days of life. This study aimed to explore the extent of program planning, budgeting, and implementation related to stunting prevention at district and village level as well as to understand the challenges presented to converge intervention. Subjects and Method: A case study with ecological approach was conducted in 10 villages from five districts in Indonesia. The study method included focus group discussions with 70 district officials and 100 village representatives, interviews with 12 key informants from district planning agency, document analysis, and reflective journaling. The data were reported descriptively. Results: Most head districts, officials from relevant departments and village leaders committed to stunting prevention following the vice president decree of stunting as a national priority. As a result, programs and budget were in place and local initiatives to prevent stunting were on the rise. Despite the commitment, many expressed ambivalences and disregarded the issue as a mere short stature (genetic variation). Thus, problems related to efficiency, coverage, and sustainability persists as maintaining motivation among staffs were difficult. In some settings, the situation was exacerbated by factors such as high financial dependency, misconception, and poor gender relation. Conclusion: The policy and programs to control stunting among children in Indonesia are in place. However, challenges occur due to the complexity in governance system as well as lack of political will. Better communication and cooperation are essential for well implemented policies. Resumen
Knowledge and material analysis for conservation actions related to the Maida castle in Calabria (Italy)The Maida castle is located in a hill site in historical center of the Maida City, facing two sea gulfs: Squillace gulf on the east side and Sant’Eufemia gulf on the west side. The position is strategic moreover because the castle is located in the center of Calabria between the Tyrrhenian and the Ionian Seas. Hidden in an inner area, the castle was erected on a rock which has a wide perspective view, giving the ability to control a stretch of territory between the two coasts and allowing to make an easier defense. Although today the fortress appears mainly as a ruin, it is still possible to distinguish one of the quadrangular towers as used as district prison, some inaccessible underground spaces and part of the walls. The state of degradation is evident, caused by the time action and, unfortunately, by inadequate maintenance activity. Most of the external surfaces have evident signs of deterioration, caused by bad weather conditions, but above all by weed vegetation. To better understand the role of the factors as biological aggression, a study has been carried out focusing on most common and widespread biological degradation present on the external surfaces of the castle. Samples of biological materials were taken and examined in the laboratory in order to acquire useful information about the state of the monument. This knowledge is necessary because it provides a first picture of the main causes of degradation of the castle and useful information for developing more aware and respectful restorations of its identity.

A utilização de mapas teve o objetivo de facilitar a compreensão dos espaços ocupados pelas habitações de cunho popular e dos vetores de crescimento urbano do bairro, fundamentais para determinar a heterogeneidade social existente na região This article intends to conduct an historical-critical analysis of housing production sponsored by the government in the neighborhood of Campo Grande, Rio de Janeiro; and the present land value, which intensified the action of the real estate industry. Today, these two actors are the main agents of change in the space of Campo Grande and surrounding areas. Despite being one of the most remote districts of the downtown area, it has become a centrality for the West Zone, considering the dynamics of trade based on sub-center and West Shopping, and consolidated infrastructure – roads, services and equipment urban. It will address the housing policies of the National Housing Bank - BNH - and its role in the urban sprawl of "distant periphery" (ABREU, 2006) to demonstrate that the performance of state repeats itself today because popular enterprises are being built into even more remote areas. On the other hand, the housing market has guaranteed access to the wealthiest locations in Campo Grande, increasing the value of land. Thus, it is expected to expose these contradictions and encourage further studies about the region, which became one of the main fronts of city expansion for the middle and popular classes. The theoretical approach was based on authors who have studied the production of urban space in Rio de Janeiro, as Corrêa (1979 and 1999) and Soares (1965 and 1990), was also extremely important studies of Lago (2000 and 2007) and Bienenstein (2001) about the historicization of peripheral settlements and housing policies. The investigation was enhanced with photographs and information obtained from various official agencies such as Municipality of Rio de Janeiro and IBGE - Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics - in order to support the issue of social, economic, and housing reconfiguration. The utilization of maps aimed to facilitate understanding of the spaces occupied by popular housing and also of the vectors of urban growth in the district, key determinants of social heterogeneity present in the region
