As the recent financial crisis brought to light, the ability of commercial banks to quantify and better manage risk in their loan portfolios is paramount to their continued success and viability. Assessing, managing, and retaining capital is now a larger issue than ever given this event as well as the advent of the Basel III Accord. Pinnacle Bancorp is a community banking organization headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska with roughly $8.6 billion in assets. The company is also one of the largest agricultural lenders in the country and the largest agricultural lender among traditional community banks. Given the ominous outlook heading into 2016 for agricultural producers from lower projected net incomes and increased borrowing costs following Federal Reserve action on the Fed Funds Rate, many banks worry about the increased likelihood of default for agricultural producers. The objective of this thesis is to determine the adequacy of Pinnacle Bank’s equity capital relative to the agricultural loan portfolio. This process begins by employing binary logit regression in an effort to determine the probability of default for the bank’s agricultural loan portfolio. With default likelihood quantified, efforts are then made to determine the bank’s credit value-at-risk at various solvency levels. These figures are then compared to current capital levels in order to determine the adequacy of bank capital as measured by five key regulatory ratios ultimately imposed by Basel III. Finally, recommendations are made to management as to the adequacy of bank capital relative to the agricultural loan portfolio and any future efforts that need to be made in order to determine and ensure the adequacy of bank capital for the entire loan portfolio.

Texto completoFive major crises have affected biodiversity and human activities are leading to a sixth one. Disparity, aiming at quantifying morphological diversity, might be a relevant approach to compare these crises. Disparity has, however, rarely been applied in conservation biology. Here we investigated the impact on Odonata wingdisparity (1) of land cover artificialization and (2) of the Permo-Triassic mass extinction. To quantify wing morphology, we assessed a basic pattern of wing venation homologies applicable to extant and fossil species. We then used a morphometric geometric approach and elaborated an optimal set of landmarks and sliding semi-landmarks. Impact of artificialization has been investigated on sites in Ile-de-France. Artificialization and loss of species do not significantly impact disparity. This support a scenario of a non-morphologically selective extinction. We did not found evidence that wing morphology might help recognition of specialised or generalist species. No significant differences between disparity and diversity of the Permian and the Triassic were observed. Extreme morphologies lost in the Permian may have been compensated with new extreme morphologies during the Triassic. Given the temporal resolution, effects of species loss and recovery cannot be distinguished. Current crises could be comparable in their effects to past mass extinction. However, data on extant should be broadened to all the species monitored worldwide and resolution of fossil sampling refined

Texto completoIn present times connectivity between systems becomes more common. It removes human mediation and allows complex distributed systems to autonomously complete long and complex tasks. SOA is a model driven contract based approach that allows legacy systems to collaborate by messages exchange. Collaboration, here, is a key word in the sense that multiple organisation can, with this approach, automate services exchanges between them without putting at risks their confidentiality. This cause to encounter the first difficulty, because if there are exchanges between the different partners, the inner-processes resulting in the exchange information is restricted to some partners and therefor to some of the testers. That put us in a grey-box testing case where the systems are black-boxes and only the message exchange is visible. That is why we propose a probabilistic approach using Bayesian Inference to test the architectures. The second Challenge is the size of the SOA. Since the systems are connected by loosely coupling them two by two according to SOA Specifications, SOA can contain a very important number of participants. In Fact most of the existing SOA are very important in there size. The size of the SOA is reflected in the complexity of the Bayesian inference. This second challenge constraints us to search for better solution for the Bayesian Inference. In order to cope with the size and density of the BN for even small services architectures, techniques of model-driven inference by compilation that allows quick generation of arithmetic circuits directly from the services architecture model and the test suite are being developed

Texto completoLiver infections and diseases are a major cause of morbidity and mortality. They include infections caused by hepatotropic pathogens, such as the Plasmodium parasite, and diseases of non-infectious origin caused in particular by drug treatments, such as cholestasis. The primary human hepatocyte (PHH) is the cell type of choice to study these infections and pathologies in vitro, but it is essential to develop new culture models closer to the physiology of cells in vivo and more relevant than 2D models. In this context, my thesis project aims to develop 3D culture systems for human liver cells. The work allowed to the establishment of a viable 3D spheroid scaffold-free model of PHH more functional than the 2D+ model. The results also demonstrate that PHH spheroids are an appropriate model for the culture of the liver stage of Plasmodium and would be more sensitive to antimalarial molecules. In order to improve the manipulation of spheroids, the magnetization of spheroids using nanoparticles (NS) was tested. NS do not affect the viability or hepatic functions of PHHs or their susceptibility to Plasmodium infection. Finally, an identical model with HepaRG cells was used to test a method for detecting drug induced cholestasis using a new fluorescent probe. The results proved that this probe can be used in spheroid models for the evaluation of the activity of cholestatic molecules

Texto completoThis thesis addresses the problem of global synchronization of large system on chip (SoC). It focuses on the study of an alternative clock generation technique to conventional clock distribution and asynchronous communication. It allows implementation of highly reliable synchronous circuit. My PhD project aims to study and implement a large network (10x10) of all digital phase-locked loop (ADPLL), containing 100 nodes generating a clock for each local digital circuitry. The prototype was implemented on silicon generating clocks in the range 903-1161 MHz. It highlights a maximum phase error of less than 40 ps between two clocks in any neighboring zones. Another important result is the analysis of phase error between two non-neighboring oscillators in distance. By studying an FPGA prototype of the network, we obtained that maximum phase error at steady state between any clock signal and the reference signal is less than three steps of the PFD quantification steps. In order to validate the performance of synchronization in ASIC, we designed an on-chip clocking error measurement circuit. This circuit has a low rate for the off-chip readout (several MHz), and a high resolution (+-2.5 ps). Reconfigurability is another attractive feature. We have explored this feature and proposed a novel topology with different configurations for nodes on the border and in the kernel of the network. This topology has an advantage in prohibiting phase error propagation and reflection

Texto completoMachine learning answers to the problem of handling dedicated tasks with a wide variety of data. Such algorithms can be either simple or difficult to handle depending of the data. Low dimensional data (2-dimension or 3-dimension) with an intuitive representation (average of baguette price by years) are easier to interpret/explain for a human than data with thousands of dimensions. For low dimensional data, the error leads to a significant shift against normal data, but for the case of high dimensional data it is different. Outlier detection (or anomaly detection, or novelty detection) is the study of outlying observations for detecting what is normal and abnormal. Methods that perform such task are algorithms, methods or models that are based on data distributions. Different families of approaches can be found in the literature of outlier detection, and they are mainly independent of ground truth. They perform outlier analysis by detecting the principal behaviors of majority of observations. Thus, data that differ from normal distribution are considered noise or outlier. We detail the application of outlier detection with text. Despite recent progress in natural language processing, computer still lack profound understanding of human language in absence of information. For instance, the sentence "A smile is a curve that set everything straight" has several levels of understanding and a machine can encounter hardship to chose the right level of lecture. This thesis presents the analysis of high-dimensional outliers, applied to text. Recent advances in anomaly detection and outlier detection are not significantly represented with text data and we propose to highlight the main differences with high-dimensional outliers. We also approach ensemble methods that are nearly nonexistent in the literature for our context. Finally, an application of outlier detection for elevate results on abstractive summarization is conducted. We propose GenTO, a method that prepares and generates split of data in which anomalies and outliers are inserted. Based on this method, evaluation and benchmark of outlier detection approaches is proposed with documents. The proposed taxonomy allow to identify difficult and hierarchised outliers that the literature tackles without knowing. Also, learning without supervision often leads models to rely in some hyperparameter. For instance, Local Outlier Factor relies to the k-nearest neighbors for computing the local density. Thus, choosing the right value for k is crucial. In this regard, we explore the influence of such parameter for text data. While choosing one model can leads to obvious bias against real-world data, ensemble methods allow to mitigate such problem. They are particularly efficient with outlier analysis. Indeed, the selection of several values for one hyperparameter can help to detect strong outliers.Importance is then tackled and can help a human to understand the output of black box model. Thus, the interpretability of outlier detection models is questioned. We find that for numerous dataset, a low number of features can be selected as oracle. The association of complete models and restrained models helps to mitigate the black-box effect of some approaches. In some cases, outlier detection refers to noise removal or anomaly detection. Some applications can benefit from the characteristic of such task. Mail spam detection and fake news detection are one example, but we propose to use outlier detection approaches for weak signal exploration in marketing project. Thus, we find that the model of the literature help to improve unsupervised abstractive summarization, and also to find weak signals in text

Texto completoOnline reviewing websites help users decide what to buy or places to go. These platforms allow users to express their opinions using numerical ratings as well as textual comments. The numerical ratings give a coarse idea of the service. On the other hand, textual comments give full details which is tedious for users to read. In this dissertation, we develop novel methods and algorithms to generate personalized, aspect-based summaries of movie reviews for a given user. The first problem we tackle is extracting a set of related words to an aspect from movie reviews. Our evaluation shows that our method is able to extract even unpopular terms that represent an aspect, such as compound terms or abbreviations, as opposed to the methods from the related work. We then study the problem of annotating sentences with aspects, and propose a new method that annotates sentences based on a similarity between the aspect signature and the terms in the sentence. The third problem we tackle is the generation of personalized, aspect-based summaries. We propose an optimization algorithm to maximize the coverage of the aspects the user is interested in and the representativeness of sentences in the summary subject to a length and similarity constraints. Finally, we perform three user studies that show that the approach we propose outperforms the state of art method for generating summaries

Texto completoIn reaction to a dull, never-changing Royal Academy, and announcing movements focused on sheer aesthetic beauty, the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood is often seen as wrapped in a long, hazy, melancholy reverie. William Morris’s political commitment spares him such labelling, but Dante Gabriel Rossetti and his disciples are often associated with past-obsessed aesthetics. Taking a stand against such a bias, this dissertation emphasises the political aspects of their work, and the scope of their philosophical and ideological commitments. By interweaving a cultural and historicist perspective with the formal and aesthetic sides of their art, this study of a representative set of Pre-Raphaelite paintings and poems seeks to identify the political attitudes underlying their art. Through the prisms of 19th century theoretical texts and reflections by thinkers of modernity, counter-modernity, and alter-modernity, this analysis probes the idea that rifts and faultlines represent both displacements and a creative principle, while simultaneously opening the way to a permanent challenging of dominant ideology and offering an alternative to subversion. The artistic twist on the faultline concept makes the Pre-Raphaelites craftsmen of a quiet revolution, meant to effect a deep transformation of Victorian society and art

Texto completoFundamental rights put private international law to the test. First, the context in which private international law operates has evolved. Fundamental rights have created a better, closer, intertwining of the separate state legal orders and have achieved a higher protection for the persons as they experience international mobility. If this evolution does not threaten, as such, the existence of private international law, it must be acknowledged that fundamental rights modify its analysis. Whereas the conflicts between legal orders are transformed into conflicts between values, the hierarchy of interests protected by private international law is replaced by a balancing of these interests. The solutions of private international law are thus disrupted by the enforcement of fundamental rights through litigation. Proportionality is at the source of this disruption. Being a case by case technique of enforcement of fundamental rights, the influence of the proportionality test on private international is uneven. If the proportionality test is found to be overall indifferent to the methods of private international law, its main impact is on the solutions of PIL. The European courts are indeed prone to favour the continuity in the legal situations of the persons, over the defence of the internal cohesion of the state legal orders. As a consequence, private international law is invited to reach liberal solutions. The enforcement of fundamental rights through litigation must hence be clarified so as to maintain a mesure of authority and predictability of the solutions of the rules of conflict of laws, international jurisdiction and recognition of foreign judgements. It is, on the one hand, by methodologically dissociating the enforcement of fundamental rights from the public policy exception and, on the other hand, through an amendment to the proportionality test, that the balance of private international may hopefully be restored

Using non-financial firm as sample from 2002 to 2013, this research utilizes the Ordinary Least Squares model (OLS) to analyze how the collateral affects the loan spread and nonperformance in lending market in Taiwan. We examine collateral on the loan spread and nonperformance, then we limit sample to pledged loans and distinguish collateral into liquid and illiquid. And we also divide collateral into 14 different types. The empirical evidence shows that collateral is associated with higher loan spread and nonperformance. The result of liquid and illiquid collateral is consistent with the empirical of collateral. And individual collateral types show different results. Most significant result shows that collateral types are associated with higher loan spread and nonperformance.

Due to the turmoil of credit card default in 2005, most of financial institutions have became very strict in offering the unsecured fiduciary loan and change to focus on the secured house mortgage loan. However, the overheating competition in the lending market has substantially decreased the interest spreads and consequentially reduced the profits earned from lending activities. After the loans are originated, the banks bear all kinds of risks, such as interest rate deduction, loan contract amendment, credit amount increase, prepayment, and default. Among the abovementioned risks, prepayment and default account for the greatest risks to the lenders. Therefore, this study will explore the important factors influencing both prepayment and default. This study adopts the logistic regression model to sort out the factors influencing prepayment and default as follows: the borrower’s personal factors (e.g., gender, age, marriage status, source of payment, guarantor, origination of loans), loan contracts factors (e.g., loans period, loan amount, interest rate, grace period, recurring use), and contract content factors (e.g., loan multiplier, loan purpose). This study will show the relationship between the aforementioned determinants and both prepayment and loan default. The empirical results show that age, marriage status, source of payment, interest rate, grace period, recurring use and loan multiplier will influence the loan default. Besides, the guarantor, origination of loans, loan amount, interest rate, grace period, and recurring use will influence the prepayment.

According to the data of the Ministry of finance, the amount of the non-performing loan increased to 5,280.7 hundred million, the rate was up to7.58 % till 2002.The serious problem made the assets of the bank become worse and worse. The domestic banks’ non-performing rate has increased due to two reasons. One is the problem of unemployed, the other is the loan which the loan department to personal or harmfully companies. The unemployed rate must be solved by the government’s policies. As for the problem of the bad debt, they usually use the principles of 5C and 5P to estimate the customer of the Credit Granting, but it is not really work. Because the Credit Granting Decision depend on the collection data and with the subject judgement of psychological to decide the customer Credit Granting and loan decision. Therefore, this essay prepare to adopt the Anchoring and Adjustment Heuristics of the Psychological Decision Theory. To test the loaner when making some Credit Granting Decisions whether or not the debt happened is due to the bias. The results of our study were: 1、When subjects estimating numbers of bed debts, they would be affect by the anchoring effect and the size of anchor. 2、When subjects evaluating risk informations, they would be affected by the anchoring effect. 3、When subjects referencing risk informations to criterion credit investigation scores, they would be affected by the anchoring effect. 4、When subjects evaluating prior probabilities, they would not base on general probability theory, they usually be affected by the anchoring effect. 5、When subjects calculating prior probabilities, they would not be affected by the number of events, but will be affected by the style of events describing.

UAV is one of popular product in aerospace. Many countries have made self’s UAV for many years ago. The UAV, which was used on scopes of military, research and rescue etc.. Power section is the most important for UAV creating. When we are selecting UAV’s engine, we must to analyze demand, which like altitude, velocity ,task requirement and the other factors. After we decide UAV’s power section, the propeller is preceded only by engine. Now, the most of engine vendors will recommend many appropriate propeller for engine in the commercial market. But the vendor sometimes does not show individual performance of engine’s propeller test. So designer must test and analyze the propeller with engine before install on UAV. This master thesis will focus on power calculation. The engine is Rotax914 which will match to Warpdrive propeller. Rotax914 is one of the most popular engine in light aircraft. The most famous UAV use Rotax914 engine which is MQ-1 made in USA. It is a very common engine ,so this thesis will supply an useful reference.

Using triaxial tests, before the failure of specimens, the deviator stress was fixed and the cyclic mean stress was applied to study the influence of creep on cemented sand. Compared with the natural geological materials with anisotropy, cemented sand is a synthetic material with homogeneous and uniform advantages, so the error caused by the test is small. Due to the material composition, cemented sand has the property of being weakened by water, so the pore water pressure is not added during the test. It has been found through experiments that the creep test with the cyclic mean stress has a shorter duration than the conventional creep test with only fixed deviator stress, and the volumetric strain of the two creep test is similar. Therefore, in order to shorten the time of observing the material''s creep behavior, a creep test method with a fixed deviator stress and cyclic mean stress is selected for research. The test results show that the axial strain accumulation, the axial strain rate, and the strength after creep of cemented sand, both are positively correlated with the creep initial mean stress, under the same creep time and creep initial stress ratio. The test results also show that the axial strain accumulation and the axial strain rate of cemented sand are positively correlated with the creep initial stress ratio, and the strength after creep of cemented sand is negatively correlated with the creep initial stress ratio, under the same creep time and creep initial mean stress. Under the same creep initial stress ratio, cemented sand with the same amplitude and period for triaxial creep test. According to the test results, the number of cycles to failure, the axial strain accumulation and the axial strain rate in the creep second stage of cemented sand are positively correlated with the creep initial mean stress. In this study, cemented sand was used to conduct the creep test. After testing, it was found that the volumetric strain case of the cyclic mean stress creep test is similar to the conventional creep test with only fixed deviator stress and is relatively short. Therefore, the cyclic creep test may be used to replace the traditional creep test to shorten the time for studying the material''s creep behavior. Although the creep behavior discussed in this study is not quite comprehensive due to the limitations of measuring instruments., it may be a possibility to replace the traditional creep test with a cyclic creep test. In addition, it is also observed that the creep initial stress ratio, and the creep initial mean stress both have an effect on the creep behavior of the cemented sand.

In recent years, the rise of the Internet and smart vehicles, everyone can often post their own messages and posts on the community platform, in this way to express their opinions and ideas. For enterprises, because of these messages behind the scene can be seen the views of consumers, so these text messages become an important decision-making basis for enterprises. How to interpret and infer these words becomes an important issue. In recent years, tourism is one of the industries that have strong demand for text analysis, because more and more people will turn their travel experience into texts published on social platforms, such as tourist blogs, and travel notes, but how to have a systematic interpretation of these words requires techniques based on text analysis. Commonly used text analysis techniques include content analysis, word exploration and sentiment analysis. The core of these techniques is to summarize and sort the words and build the fonts. Quantification, however, in the past related research, only the keyword sentences for the message content of the tourists were counted or the positive and negative emotion analysis was performed. The text was interpreted only from a single angle, and the important meaning behind the words was usually ignored. Therefore, this study will use the technique of text analysis combined with the travel experience related scale to explain the meaning behind the guest message. This study will use Sentiment Analysis, based on the Memorable Tourism Experience Scale (MTE), and integrate AFINN sentiment dictionary and unforgettable tourism experience feature keyword vocabulary to design an unforgettable tourism experience measurement facet. Through the results of the online questionnaire, verify the unforgettable travel experience. The traditional scores and the qualitative texts have a consistent result of the emotional scores after systematic analysis. That is, it is finally known that the traditional questionnaire method and the emotional analysis method are used for memorable. The analysis of the tourism experience can achieve the same effect.

In situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) is a widely used technique for treating soil and groundwater contaminated with chlorinated organic solvents such as trichloroethylene (TCE). The sodium persulfate (SPS) is a promising ISCO oxidant. The effective contact between oxidant and contaminant, especially within a low permeability zones (LPZs) in the heterogeneous aquifer, is also a challenge issue in the ISCO application. This study attempted to use xanthan gum (XG) mixing with gelatin (G) to prepare a gel liquid with a low initial viscosity (< 15 cP) and a high viscosity > 700 cP upon gelation. This gel can be incorporated with SPS to form SPS sustained-release gel (SPS SR-Gel). This gel containing SPS oxidant can be injected and transported to LPZs, thereby increasing the contact between SPS and contaminants. The results of gel properties indicated that the viscosity of the xanthan gum was about 25 cP. When the xanthan gum was mixed with gelatin, the difference of transition temperatures between xanthan gum and gelatin resulted in structural changes and then achieved gelation. The objectives of this study were to investigate gel transportation and oxidant release behavior of SPS SR-Gel. Additionally, the potential of SPS SR-Gel in treating TCE in free phase or sorbed phase in LPZs was evaluated in one-dimensional column. Observation of blue-dyed gel transportation in the column revealed that after the gelation formed, the gel stayed at the location where it was gelated. SPS released rapidly at a relatively high water flushing velocity (0.392 cm/min) but SPS was steadily released at a rate of 0.26±0.22 mg SPS/min under a water velocity of 0.019 cm/min. Regardless of TCE mass of 0.493 g or 0.085 g contained silty soils within the column treated by SPS SR-Gel, the accumulative mass of effluent TCE and TCE mineralized was accounted about 50% of its initial mass. The mass of SPS released was accounted for about 50% of its initial mass. These preliminary results indicated that the SPS SR-Gel exhibited the potential to sustained release of SPS for effectively treating TCE contamination.

The thesis developed a screening test for perioperative anaphylaxis (PA) using electrochemical nanostructured immunosensor. The electrochemical immunosensor had advantages of simple, fast, sensitive and low-cost. The nanostructured sputtering gold nanoparticles (GNPs) with modified self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) can enhance the sensitivity and simplify the process using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) method. Basophils were stimulated with neuromuscular blocking agents (NMBA) and the released histamine was detected as indicators of PA. Standard solutions were used to calibrate nanostructured sensors. The concentration of histamine from 0.1ng/ml to 10ng/ml was measured by EIS with a linear regression line of y = 5070ln(x) + 12633 with error R2=0.9565. Released histamines in real plasma sample stimulated by NMBA, rocuronium, atracurium, cisatracurium, were also measured. Reaction time for plasma stimulated by NMBA was also studied. The results were compared to basophil activation test (BAT) and skin tests (ST), experimental result showed that electrochemical nanostructured immunosensor had similar results with skin test.
