Sejak diperkenalkan oleh Linus Torvalds, bahasa pemograman Linux dengan sifatnya yang terbuka, telah dikembangkan oleh begitu banyak pihak secara bersama-sama. Pihak-pihak ini adalah para akademisi, industri maupun perorangan dengan bakat dan keahlian yang luar biasa, dan dengan berbagai berkepentingan. Hasilnya adalah sesuatu yang sangat besar, baik pada segi kapasitas maupun kwalitas. Dengan kapasitas yang begitu besar, tidaklah semua terpakai pada suatu rancangan produk. Sehingga menjadi salah satu karakteristik Linux, fleksibilitas. Yaitu Sistem Operasi dapat diubah sesuai kebutuhan. Kernel Linux yang banyak dipakai sekarang pada beberapa embedded systems berbasis prosesor ARM, yaitu sebagai penggerak robot, alat-alat komunikasi dan sebagainya, dengan sendirinya menuruni sifat fleksibilitas ini. Maka terkadang pengguna masih memerlukan menambahkan atau mengubah isi kernel Linux tersebut, misalnya dengan salah satu tujuan: sudah terjadinya inisialisasi service tertentu setelah ‘booting’.

The Linux Operating System is known for its open-source characteristic which means everyone is free to develop Linux with the use of available source code. The result of Linux development is called Linux distribution (Distro). There are various Linux distributions in accordance with their respective uses, one of them is Kali Linux. Kali Linux is a Linux distro that is developed to penetrate the security of computer systems. Kali Linux uses a variety of tools to perform its functions. However, for users who want to use the functionality of Kali Linux without having to change the Linux distro that has been used, the user can use Katoolin. Katoolin can provide the convenience and flexibility for users who want to use Kali Linux as a special Linux distro for the purpose of penetrating computer system security without having to replace the distro that has been used or do a full install of Kali Linux. One case study that can be solved using the Kali Kali Linux based tool on Katoolin is Reverse Engineering. The case study was solved using one of the tools in the Reverse Engineering category named apktool that available on Katoolin.

Linux is a kernel whose development has been very active since it was first released to the public. With a large community, Linux development has penetrated into various fields in the world of computerization, including personal computers. Today, Linux can be used on a variety of devices from personal computers to embedded systems. The development is very active thanks to the large community and Linux adopting open source, many developers are making their own version of the Linux-based operating system. Versions and types of Linux-based operating systems are called distros or distributions. The number of versions and types of Linux-based operating systems, of course, confuses users who are trying Linux for the first time or who want to fully switch to Linux from another operating system. Decision support systems can provide alternative solutions for those users who are confused about choosing a Linux distribution. By using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method, the existing criteria can be used as benchmarks in determining the Linux distribution of choice and therefore the accuracy of the system can exceed 90%

This article discusses Linux which is an emerging technology that will affect many mechanical engineers. Linux is a freely distributed, open-source Unix-like operating system, originally for PCs, but now available on other platforms. The Internet facilitated the collaborative effort that produced Linux—and so it is not surprising that the explosive growth of the Internet was also made possible by Linux. Linux would be a fantastic operating system for building automation systems and direct digital controls. One area where Linux really shines is Local Area Networking, using a program called Samba (which is included in almost all Linux distributions). The technical support for Linux is very good. Chances are very good that no matter where you are, there is a local Linux users group nearby where you can turn for help. These groups often have mailing lists that you can subscribe to, and post queries. Linux resources on the Internet are outstanding. Local users groups will occasionally have “install fests,” where you can get help installing Linux on your PC.

Current studies in OS is usually between linux and windows these days. Both Windows and Linux are widely used PC operating systems (OS). Windows is an eye-catching operating system, but it is not as safe as Linux. With growing worries about OS security, Linux has become well-known among OS users for its security and efficiency. This paper manages two of the principal common types of operating systems (Linux, Windows) with the significance of the operating system in any device and, moreover, to direct the study over Linux and Windows. We've compared various characteristics concerning Windows and Linux that are utilized in various researches and directed a survey for this reason. The results of the survey related to Windows and Linux are analyzed. The findings indicate that Linux is more preferred when concerned with security, whereas Windows is preferred when user-friendliness is concerned.

As a result of the need, not only the Linux NIC driver but also the Linux PCIe driver needs to be used in vehicle automation. The nested driver technique have its greatest use in mechanical automation, in this thesis, analysis and research have been made for Linux nested driver which was based on FPGA detailedly, firstly, it provides a simple review of standard NIC driver in the Linux operating system; secondly, Linux PCIe driver which was based on FPGA is presented simply; finally, it gives a brief explanation of how to call some functions of PCIe driver in the Linux standard NIC driver, and the accuracy and stability of Linux nested driver were tested and verified by a program in the application layer.

Seiring semakin berkembangnya sistem operasi dan perangkat lunak komputer sekarang ini, maka berkembang pula perangkat keras komputer yang dibutuhkan untuk kebutuhan tersebut. Komputer-komputer lama yang tidak mendukung sistem operasi yang baru pun akhirnya terabaikan dan tidak digunakan. Namun komputer-komputer tersebut dapat dipergunakan kembali sebagai router. Linux Freesco adalah salah satu aplikasi router yang dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif pembuatan router yang berbasiskan komputer 386 dengan menggunakan resource yang kecil tetapi mempunyai kemampuan yang powerfull sebagai router. Linux Freesco merupakan sebuah proyek open source yang mengijinkan penggunanya untuk dapat mendistribusikan kembali dan memodifikasinya secara bebas tanpa harus membayar lisensi. Walaupun berbasis teks namun Linux Freesco dirancang untuk memudahkan penggunanya dimana semua perintah yang ada pada Linux Freesco dibuat secara interaktif. Penelitian ini mengimplementasikan Linux Freesco sebagai router di SMK Negeri 1 Bawang dan dikomparasikan dengan Linux Depdiknux yang sudah terpasang di SMK Negeri 1 Bawang. Dari hasil komparasi ternyata kemampuan Linux Freesco sebagai router sebanding dengan Linux Depdiknux yang sudah terpasang di SMK Negeri 1 Bawang, sehingga Linux Freesco dapat dijadikan router alternatif di SMK Negeri 1 Bawang dengan memanfaatkan komputer-komputer Pentium II yang tidak terpakai di SMK Negeri 1 Bawang.

Although there are many security methods that can be used to block DDoS attacks, for now these methods are arguably less effective, because many hackers have known bugs from the system or security methods. From the background of this problem, testing the security of Linux Mint servers, Linux Mint without VPN and Anti DDoS, implementing network security from hammer attacks on Linux Mint Linux servers with VPN and Anti-DDoS, and testing DDoS and VPN attacks have been successfully implemented. on linux mint. Anti-DDoS and VPN are able to prevent DDoS attacks on Linux servers by blocking unknown IPs from accessing the server and redirecting attacks to virtual IPs provided by the VPN.

Linux merupakan salah satu dari sedikit pilihan sistem operasi komputer yang opensource (bebas menggunakan dan memodifikasinya), murah dan berlisensi gratis. Linux mengambil kendali infrastruktur perangkat keras ketika pertama kali sistem tersebut dijalankan. Selain itu Linux mendukung berbagai platform hardware dari mulai PC berbasiskan Intel, Macintosh, Amiga, Silicon Graphics, Digital Alpha, sampai dengan perangkat mini computer seperti PDA dan pocket PC. Dengan telah ditandatanginya Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) tentang penerapan penggunaan piranti lunak legal oleh Menteri Komunikasi dan Informatika Republik Indonesia, Sofyan Djalil dan CEO Microsoft Indonesia, Tony Chen, pada tanggal 13 Januari 2006 di Jakarta, berarti menggunakan windows bajakan merupakan suatu pelanggaran Hak atas Kekayaan Intelektual (HAKI). Seperti diketahui bersama, penggunaan windows yang legal memerlukan biaya lisensi yang cukup mahal. Sebagai salah satu sekolah swasta yang sedang berkembang, belum memiliki cukup dana untuk membayar lisensi penggunaan windows yang selama ini mereka gunakan. Kehadiran LINUX sebagai sistem operasi komputer yang opensource (bebas menggunakan dan memodifikasinya), murah dan berlisensi gratis sangat mereka butuhkan. Di sisi lain, sumber daya manusia di SMU tersebut belum mengenal LINUX, karenanya sosialisasi LINUX sebagai sistem operasi komputer pengganti windows sangat diperlukan di SMU ini. Pendekatan pemecahan masalah dilakukan dengan mengenalkan LINUX kepada para guru dan siswa. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada hari Rabu tanggal 6 Agustus 2014 yang berlokasi di SMU PGRI Inderalaya dengan memperagakan kepada para peserta tentang bagaimana menginstall dan mengoperasikan LINUX, kemudian memberikan kesempatan kepada mereka untuk melakukannya sendiri dan terakhir dilakukan tes apakah mereka sudah bisa mengoperasikan LINUX dengan benar. Melalui kegiatan ini, sangat diharapkan para peserta dapat menginstall dan mengoperasikan LINUX serta menerapkannya pada kegiatan di sekolah mereka.

As one of Linux development directions, embedded Linux has many achievements and mature products. Its stability, reliability and the high efficiency is being proved by the facts. Linux has a great potential in the embedded area, which is loved by many businesses, scientific research units. The embedded Linux opens the source code, provides technical support widely and has good extendibility, supports a lot of hardware. All these are the advantages of embedded Linux. Touch screen has been an important human-computer interaction device, for they are light, flexible and take up less space. Most mobile devices offer a touch screen which is used together with a pen in order to take the role of the mouse for application control. A kind of touch screen control system based on ARM and Linux is introduced in detail. Circuit diagram and touch screen working principle is given. In this paper, touch screen driver based on embedded Linux is designed, analyzed and transplanted. Finally, touch screen can be used normally after calibrating.

Pada penelitian ini penulis membandingan kinerja sistem operasi antara Windows 10 dengan Linux Mint. Penelitian ini fokus dalam menentukan sistem operasi terbaik dalam hal kinerja antara dua sistem operasi yang dibedakan. Parameter kinerja yang akan difokuskan pada proyek ini adalah waktu komputasi, penggunaan sumber daya, dan jaringan. Beberapa percobaan yang didasarkan pada skenario yang berbeda untuk menunjukkan perbedaan dari kedua sistem operasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menyelidiki perbedaan antara Windows 10 dan Linux Mint, serta menganalisis kinerja Windows 10 dan Linux Mint dan juga untuk menentukan sistem operasi mana yang lebih baik antara Windows 10 dan Linux Mint dalam hal kinerja. Sebagai hasil, penelitian telah menentukan bahwa Linux Mint lebih unggul dalam hal kinerja dibandingkan dengan Windows 10.

ABSTRAK GNU / Linux merupakan sebuah basis sistem operasi yang dikembangkan dengan lisensi bebas (Open Source), sehingga memungkinkan banyak pengguna untuk mengembangkan kembali Sistem Operasi berbasis GNU/Linux sesuai dengan kebutuhan dari masing-masing pengguna. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengembangkan sebuah sistem operasi berbasiskan GNU/Linux dengan fitur edukatif dan memiliki layanan pengenalan tentang Gorontalo, yang meliputi pengenalan Sejarah, Budaya, Bahasa, Potensi Wisata, dan Kondisi Geografis Provinsi Gorontalo. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Metode Research & Development (R & D) yang meliputi Penelitian, Perencanaan, Pengembangan, Pengujian Awal, Revisi Produk, Uji coba operasional, Revisi Produk Operasional, Ujicoba Produk, Pengujian Produk Akhir, Implementasi dan Penyebaran. Peneliti melakukan tiga kali pengembangan dan perbaikan terhadap sistem operasi yang dikembangkan berdasarkan pada revisi yang diberikan oleh responden yang berlatar belakang sebagai pelajar dan pengajar. Penelitian ini telah menghasilkan sebuah produk Sistem Operasi berbasiskan GNU/Linux yang diberi nama Saronde OS. Saronde OS memiliki kelebihan pada pengembangan kernel GNU/Linux yang telah dikembangkan sehingga memiliki kelebihan dari sisi performa sehingga lebih hemat sumber daya memory dan battery. Selain pengembangan performa peneliti mengembangkan fitur edukatif dan layanan pengenalan budaya dan bahasa Gorontalo. This paper describes the use of virtualization technology in the linux network teaching process in linux firewall implementation. The problem that is often faced by teacher and student is the limitation of computer devices in implementing network topology design. The use of virtualization technology can be used as a device to create a virtual network laboratory, which is an implementation of real laboratories and network simulation software that is useful to explain the concept of computer network management. With this in mind, it can provide an overview of project characteristics, especially the implementation of linux networks in the area of virtualization technology. Linux network virtualization implementation to help the teaching process used netkit. Netkit can be used as a linux network simulation, where each virtual machine host has a linux operating system, and can implement a computer network based on the design of a real network topology. The method used to implement the Linux firewall by creating a virtual laboratory, where virtual laboratories are built based on the real network topology design. Testing is done on a virtual laboratory by implementing a network topology design and running based on a test scenario.

Since the rarity and unpredictability of such events are pretty high, thus the localization and detection of Linux kernel, device drivers, file system modules errors become unfathomable. ‘Artificial introduction of some random faults during normal tests’ is the only known approach to such mystifying problems. A standard method for performing such experiments is to generate synthetic faults and study the effects. Various fault injection frameworks have been analyzed over the Linux kernel to simulate such detection. The following paper highlights the comparison of different approaches and techniques used for such fault injection to test Linux kernel modules that include simulating low resource conditions and detecting memory leaks. The frameworks chosen to be used in these experiments are; Linux Text Project (LTP), KEDR, Linux Fault-Injection (LFI), and SCSI.

Resumen
This paper presents an improvement of control flow attestation (C-FLAT) for Linux. C-FLAT is a control attestation system for embedded devices. It was implemented as a software executing in ARM’s TrustZone on bare-metal devices. We extend the design and implementation of C-FLAT through the use of a type 2 Nanovisor in the Linux operating system. We call our improved system “C-FLAT Linux”. Compared to the original C-FLAT, C-FLAT Linux reduces processing overheads and is able to detect the SlowLoris attack. We describe the architecture of C-FLAT Linux and provide extensive measurements of its performance in benchmarks and real-world scenarios. In addition, we demonstrate the detection of the SlowLoris attack on the Apache web server.

The events of the previous two years have forced many businesses from many industries to fast transition to remote work mode. Most organizations were unprepared for this new method of working, and many IT professionals first risked the security of the infrastructures they supported. As a result, ransomware developers found a way to resume development of one for the second most popular operating system – Linux, which is dominant in server infrastructures. Attacks up to now have tended to concentrate more on the end user, whereas ransomware developers now target the core of the organization, allowing for greater ransom demands to recover the data. Along with these, there have been increasing reports of new cryptoviruses for Linux in recent months. This concept is not new in 2015, the first ransomware for Linux was disclosed. The paper examines the evolution of cryptoviruses in Linux and demonstrates how to utilize a private cloud to recover data arrays after a ransomware infection in Linux.

Abstrak Meningkatnya permintaan pembaharuan aplikasi berbasis open source karena seiring meningkatnya jumlah pengguna sistem operasi Linux, oleh karenanya ketika banyak pengguna linux yang melakukan permintaan pembaharuan aplikasi menyebabkan lambatnya kecepatan unduh dan membutuhkan waktu lama. Salah satu solusinya yaitu dengan membuat mirror repository linux agar memudahkan dan menawarkan koneksi pengguna yang lebih baik. Namun demikian, suatu saat ketika semakin bertambah jumlah pengguna mirror tersebut akan mengalami penurunan kualitas download hingga dapat mengalami down, sehingga tidak dapat melayani permintaan pembaharuan pengguna dengan baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan membangun Mirror Repository Linux dengan menggunakan Load-balanced Mirror Service System (LMSS) dengan mengintegrasikan beberapa MIrror Server yang dibangun secara generate melalui Manage Large Network (MLN), dengan pembagian beban menggunakan Linux Virtual Server (LVS) pada metode Network Address Translation (NAT). Sehingga beban permintaan dari client dapat ditangani Mirror Server secara bersama – sama. Dengan demikian, rata – rata waktu download dapat berkurang sebanyak 17,2 % daripada menggunakan Single Server.AbstractThe increasing demand for open source-based application updates is due to the increasing number of users of Linux operating systems, therefore when many Linux users who request an application update cause slow download speed and takes a long time. One solution is to create Mirror Repository Linux in order to facilitate and offer better user connections. However, a time when the number of mirror users will decrease the quality of download until it can down, so it can not serve user renewal request well. This research aims to design and build linux mirror repositories by using Load-balanced Mirror Service System (LMSS) by integrating multiple Mirror Server generated via Manage Large Network (MLN), with load sharing using Linux Virtual Server (LVS) Network Address Translation (NAT). LMSS there is a Director Server as a counter / load manager that passes on the server, which will be forwarded to the destination server. So that the request load from the client can be handled Mirror Server together. Thus, the average download time can be reduced by 17.2% rather than using a single server.

ABSTRACT One of the most frequently used server service functions is to provide a website access service, called a web server. In this study, we use two servers with Ubuntu operating system and Turnkey Linux with its objective to compare web performance to get parameters of response time value and throughput value. The test is carried out with a request rate of 10 to 100 with 1000 and 2000 connections. Based on the results obtained, Web server which uses Ubuntu Linux is better than Turnkey Linux, it is indicated by the value of small response time which means fast response and large throughput value, and this means good. A Web server that has 1000 connections generates a response time and a good throughput value, while the 2000 number of connections generates a response time value and a reduced throughput value, it is because for more than 1000 connections can affect the speed of the system. Keywords : performance, web server, response time, thoughput ABSTRAK Salah satu fungsi layanan server yang sering digunakan adalah menyediakan layanan akses situs web, yang disebut sebagai web server. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan dua server dengan sistem operasi Ubuntu dan Turnkey Linux dengan tujuan membandingkan performa kinerja web untuk mendapatkan parameter nilai responsese time dan nilai throughput. Pengujian dilakukan dengan request rate sebanyak 10 sampai 100 dengan jumlah 1000 koneksi dan 2000 koneksi. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian diperoleh bahwa Web server yang menggunakan Ubuntu Linux lebih baik dari Turnkey Linux yang ditunjukkan oleh nilai response time kecil yang berarti response cepat dan nilai throughput besar yang berarti baik. Web server yang memiliki jumlah 1000 koneksi menghasilkan nilai response time dan nilai throughput yang cukup baik, sedangkan jumlah 2000 koneksi menghasilkan nilai response time dan nilai throughput yang menurun karena jumlah koneksi yang lebih dari 1000 dapat mempengaruhi kecepatan sistem .
