Günther, Janne-Kathrin. "The C*-algebras of certain Lie groups". Thesis, Université de Lorraine, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016LORR0118/document.
Texto completoIn this doctoral thesis, the C*-algebras of the connected real two-step nilpotent Lie groups and the Lie group SL(2,R) are characterized. Furthermore, as a preparation for an analysis of its C*-algebra, the topology of the spectrum of the semidirect product U(n) x H_n is described, where H_n denotes the Heisenberg Lie group and U(n) the unitary group acting by automorphisms on H_n. For the determination of the group C*-algebras, the operator valued Fourier transform is used in order to map the respective C*-algebra into the algebra of all bounded operator fields over its spectrum. One has to find the conditions that are satisfied by the image of this C*-algebra under the Fourier transform and the aim is to characterize it through these conditions. In the present thesis, it is proved that both the C*-algebras of the connected real two-step nilpotent Lie groups and the C*-algebra of SL(2,R) fulfill the same conditions, namely the “norm controlled dual limit” conditions. Thereby, these C*-algebras are described in this work and the “norm controlled dual limit” conditions are explicitly computed in both cases. The methods used for the two-step nilpotent Lie groups and the group SL(2,R) are completely different from each other. For the two-step nilpotent Lie groups, one regards their coadjoint orbits and uses the Kirillov theory, while for the group SL(2,R) one can accomplish the calculations more directly

Texto completoThe adapted Fourier transform, so-called nilpotent Fourier transform, was first introduced by D. Arnal and J. C. Cortet as a generalisation of the usual abelian Fourier transform. This definition was limited at the orbits of the group under the coadjont action. We define in this thesis new adapted Fourier transforms on the dual of the Lie algebra and the product of this dual space with the set of all Malcev bases. Then, we study Schwartz multipliers for nilpotent Lie groups and we give an idea to prove Howe conjecture that characterizes the bi-invariant Schwartz multipliers on nilpotent Lie groups. Such characterization is given as the following : a tempered distribution on a nilpotent group Lie is a bi-invariant Schwartz multiplier if and only if its Fourier transform as a distribution is a smooth, Ad*-invariant function on the dual of the Lie algebra and all of its derivatives have polynomial bounds. Finally, we define Schwartz multipliers for variable nilpotent Lie groups and we characterize them as a bove

Texto completoIn this thesis, we apply a program of description and construction of irreductible unitary representation (I. U. R) of Lies groups by star deformation, to the universal covering group of the hyperbolic group. Let us denote by G this group. In chapter 1, we recall the definitions associated to the group G, and its I. U. R which are traditionally classified in three series : principal series, discrete series and complementary series. In chapter 2, we describe the representations of principales series using a star product equivalent to the Moyal product. We then define a star exponential and the restriction of the adapted Fourier transformation to an orbit. In chapter 3, we define and describe the deformation of the algebra of functions on the orbits associated to the representations of the discrete series of G, and we recall the construction of coherent states and Berezin symboles and corresponding star product. In chapter 4, we realize the complementary series of G as a star representation using a Moyal product on RxT and realize of the Lie algebra g of G as complex functions on RxT, wich is deformation of parametrisation of the cone. In chapter 5, we choose a Lebesgue measure on the dual g* of G and define a global adapted Fourier transformation E by glueing to guether the two constructions associated to principal series and discrete series. Finally, using the Plancherel formula for G, we show that the adapted Fourier transformation is a unitary transformation bitween L2 (G) and a space of square star integrable on g*, and that the plancharel formula is obtained by inverting E

Texto completoThe mathematical technique permanently incorporates questionings which open up transversal metaphysics : metaphysics of notation ; metaphysics of symbolic swelling ; metaphysics of the irreversibly and necessary synthetical character of Calculation. At a trans-historical level, the ubiquituous exigence of generalization demonstrates another aspect for the irreversibility of mathematical questioning, because what is technical expresses and studies questionnings in their ramified-demultiplied complexity. In addition, auto-compulsory character of Calculation, internal necessity of combinatorics, transformational governing of symbols, and genesis of the Multiple by the One incite to foresee an a posteriori genesis of the Concept inside and by means of the Calculation; Lastly, the universality of the Open in mathematics shows that knowledges remain potential and that tentative totalisations always hide non-structural knowledges that lie in deeper synthetical levels. (II) is it possible to characterize the Euclidian space which shows up so immediately to the physical institution by means of mathematical axioms that are simple and natural ? More generally, is it possible to characterize the constant curvature spaces of Bolyai-Lobatchevskii, and as well the constant curvure Riemann spaces, excluding any other geometry which contradicts direct intuition ? The works of Sophus Lie, and notably the Theorie der Transformationsgruppen (2100 pages, 1884--93), written in collaboration with Friedrich Engel, offer a complete and rigorous solution to this problem, raised and treated incompletely by Helmholtz. The historical, philosophical and mathematical introduction, ans as well the French translation that are here proposed aim at exhibiting an aspect of the monumental work of Sophus Lie that remains essentially rarely mentioned within traditional philosophy of geometry. (III) The doctoral memoir ends up with an annotated English translation of the first volume of the Theorie der Transformationsgruppen

Texto completos urban environment into a modern one was one of the objectives of the Early Republican period. In the study, the transformation of urban culture is traced through everyday life of the inhabitants and lived spatiality in the new and old/traditional parts of the city. Urban culture clearly manifests itself in urban public spaces by means of everyday life and lived spatiality. It is not only the elite but the humble income social groups which are the main agents/actors of the transforming urban culture. In Ankara, gradual appropriation of a modern life style takes place in the urban public spaces but these spaces do not have to be part of the grand narrative of nation-building. Cultural places (Sergievi, theaters, movie theaters, people&rsquo
s houses), recreation places (parks, coffee shops, restaurants), shopping areas, streets and boulevards, districts are spaces of everyday life and new spatial and bodily practices flourish in these spaces. The reality of the city shelters both the new/modern, the old, and the spontaneously developing urban environments which equally participated in the transformation process. The research is based on memory in the study. Written documents, newspapers, literary constructions, memoirs and interviews with the old inhabitants of the city are the main sources. According to the analyses made on the obtained data, Ankara was a fruitful medium for creation of a modern urban culture during the mentioned period and middle social groups were the main components of this transformation process.

Texto completoIn this thesis, we are interested in geometric problems related with \emph{real bounded symmetric domains}. These spaces are Riemannian symmetric spaces $\mathcal{D}=G/K$ of noncompact type, constructed from \emph{hermitian bounded symmetric domains}. When $\mathcal{D}=G/K$ is of type $C_r$ or $D_r$, we prove that $G$ acts transitively on each connected component of the set $\Sigma$ of \emph{maximal tripotents} in the \emph{compact Jordan triple system} $T_0\mathcal{D}$. In the hermitian case, this set is connected and is called \emph{the Shilov boundary}. In the real case, $\Sigma$ is not necessarily connected, thus we choose a connected component $\mathcal{S}$ of $\Sigma$. Then the action of $G$ in $\mathcal{S}\times\mathcal{S}$ as a finite number of orbits for wich we give representative elements. If $\mathcal{D}$ is of type $C_s$ or $D_{2s}$, then the set of couples of transversal elements of $\mathcal{S}$ is a $G$-orbit in $\mathcal{S}\times\mathcal{S}$. Under these assumptions, $G$ acts on the set of transversal triples in $\mathcal{S}\times\mathcal{S}\times\mathcal{S}$ and we determine the orbits for this action. Finally, we are interested in Hua differential systems. We prove that for any continuous function $\varphi$ on $\mathcal{S}$, the Poisson transform $f=\mathcal{P}_\sigma\varphi:=\int_\mathcal{S}\mathcal{P}(\cdot,u)^\sigma\varphi(u)du$ is a solution of the Hua system $\mathcal{H}f(x)=(\frac{2n^-}{r})^2\sigma(\sigma-1)f(x)\textnormal{Id}$, where $\mathcal{P}(\cdot,\cdot)$ is the Poisson kernel on $\mathcal{D}\times\mathcal{S}$ and $n^-$ is the dimension of $V^-$

Texto completoSeveral families of multivariable special functions, called orbit functions, are defined in the context of Weyl groups of compact simple Lie groups/Lie algebras. These functions have been studied for almost a century now because of their relation to characters of irreducible representations of Lie algebras, their symmetries and orthogonalities. Our main interest is the description of discrete orthogonality relations and their corresponding discrete transforms which allow the applications of orbit functions in the processing of multidimensional data. This description is provided for the Weyl group of different lengths of root, in particular groups of rank 2 for so-called $E-$orbit functions and of rank 3 for all the other families of special functions.
