Cebrian, Michael Christopher. "Angular Component Library Comparison". Thesis, Villanova University, 2017. http://pqdtopen.proquest.com/#viewpdf?dispub=10281632.
Texto completoThe purpose of this study is to aide web developers in choosing which component library to integrate with their web based Angular project. Angular is a new platform and many of the existing component libraries are still under active development, or were only recently released, making it difficult for developers to know which component library would be the best fit for their project. This study reviews many factors which would influence a developer’s decision on which library to use including: the size of the community, number of components available, quality of documentation, payload size increase, and load time performance. This study proves that the most popular projects aren’t the most performant and are lacking key features, while some much less popular libraries are performing better and have a better set of components. Developers looking for the best combination of performance and features should consider ngx-bootstrap or Angular Material Design Lite.

Texto completoCircular (one-radius) fillets are known as state-of-the-art for reducing notch stresses at cross section transitions. The stress concentration factor Kt of such geometries can be read out from diagrams/tables given in the literature. However, the efficiency of stress reduction of circular notches is very limited. The goal of the work therefor is to present a method for the designer/analyst how to design non-circular notches/fillets just by using suitable Kt-diagrams without time-consuming and expensive FEM analyses. Kt-numbers of nearly one are possible, that means in the "notch" just the nominal stress appears and no stress concentration takes place. The presentation has two parts: Part one describes the working methods and software functions as well as software tools: Creo Parametric as fully-parametric CAD program and Creo Simulate as embedded p-FEM-tool from Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC) have been used. The second part describes the range of validity and the examined notch geometries: The one-radius fillet as state-of-the-art, the two-radii filet, the Baud-curve, the method of tensile triangles from Claus Mattheck, the standard elliptical fillet and the conical round as generalized elliptical fillet. A notch layout library is shortly presented that allows to design such fillets, that means exactly determine the notch geometry and the related stress concentration factor Kt

Texto completoThis thesis is dedicated to the generation of the virtual space of 2.5K DNA-encoded libraries and its detailed structural and property chemoinformatic analysis. GTM-based methodologies allowing to quickly compare and select optimal DELs out of thousands of possible ones based on the structural or property similarity to a reference database were developed. The problem of combinatorial compound enumeration was addressed by developing a highly performant deep learning model capable of predicting the position of a compound on the GTM based solely on its building blocks and reactions, skipping compound enumeration. Machine learning models allowing to predict the reactivity of building blocks and activity of DEL compounds were created. The latter coupled with GTM visualization, allowed to rationalize and facilitate the reagent selection for DEL synthesis and hit prioritization

It is always very difficult for the piano teachers to select appropriate teaching materials from many published method series. Assigning them to meet the need of each individual student is also a challenge. From the Chinese editions of several piano teaching materials, the following three elementary piano method series with similar attributes were selected as the base of this research: David Carr Glover Piano Library, Bastien Piano Library, and Alfred's Basic Piano Library. Through systematic analysis and comparison, this research reaches certain conclusions about the similarities and differences between these method series. The outcome of this research may help piano teachers in selecting method books more objectively and in improving their teaching techniques. This research compares three selected piano method series from the following four aspects: the longitudinal connection of core courses, the latitudinal connection of core courses, the functional techniques of core courses, and the degree of applicability and compatibility of the supplementary courses. Items being analyzed for the first two aspects are basic knowledge of piano playing, reading approach (including pre- staff reading, staff recognition, recognition of intervals, scales and tonalities), rhythmic training, playing techniques, and interpretation or expression. The results of all analyses are arranged in tabulate form with necessary comments. The functional techniques of core courses are summarized in four categories: sight reading, transposition, harmonization with primary chords as the accompaniment, and playing primary chord progressions. The degree of applicability and compatibility of supplementary courses in the selected series is also determined through the consideration of same items listed above. The findings of this research are threefold which reveal the uniqueness of each piano method series: 1.The "Piano Solo" book of the David Carr Glover Piano Library works better with its core courses in the latitudinal connections than the "Piano Repertoire" book. 2. The Bastien Piano Library is the only one out of the three selected series offering the functional techniques of sight reading and emphasizing the transposition technique. 3. The Alfred's Basic Piano Library performs the best in the longitudinal and latitudinal connections within its core lessons. Its selected supplementary courses and "Piano Lessons" books have the highest degree of applicability and compatibility.

There are diversified teaching materials of basic piano lessons nowadays. How to select appropriate teaching materials that are suitable for students’ uses among every kind of options becomes a very important issue. The purpose of this article is to study “Alfred’s Basic Piano Library” and “Hal Leonard Student Piano Library” such two series of piano lessons. This article traces the literatures of piano teaching methods, the principles and importance of selecting basic piano lessons, and divides these two series of piano lessons, that is, “Piano Lessons” and other series of lessons, including “Piano Theory Workbook”, “Piano Technique”, “Piano Solos” and “Piano Recital Book” into five major items based on “Content Analysis” to analyze their “Basic Knowledge For Preparation”, “Music Notation Reading Training”, “Tempo Practice”, “Playing Skill” and “Music Interpretation” respectively, describing the key points of using combinations and listing the advantages and disadvantages between the two series of piano lessons, finally to propose the recommendations of researcher for teaching practices. During the study process, we found both “Alfred’s Basic Piano Library” and “Hal Leonard Student Piano Library” piano lessons arrange in proper sequence that make series lessons collocate with each other closely. Their teaching methods are very vivid, which present boring music theory and playing skill in ways of life and diversification to bring them into teaching practices. There are similarities between the two series of lessons – they are available for teachers to cooperate them with each other to obtain effects of reinforcing practices and deepening impression, which is sufficient for teacher to develop maximum teaching effect while using, fully teach students in accordance with their aptitude to allow students obtain best lessons. Therefore, we may say that “Alfred’s Basic Piano Library” and “Hal Leonard Student Piano Library” such two series of piano lessons are good choices for teachers who engage in the piano pedagogy.

The local public library can be the most popular libraries in Taiwan, and most of them are integrated with local community to be friendly, it’s evident that the library is the place of reading and lifelong learning for their residences, as well as the critical role in educating and culture. Reading can make a Nation more competitive definitely, reading also made Europe and American be the leadership of knowledge and economics in the world. In the end of the 20th century, the military affairs, economics and politics on the international competitive stage has been transferring to the education and soft power, that way, promote the reading would be a country-wide movement since the library is the clutch of the information and society. As mentioned above, reading is getting a world-wide movement; however, our libraries cannot be well performed due to the inadequate and unpractical government rule, it will cause the discrepancy of library organization and counsel system; on the other hand, the government financial risk, manpower shortage, less professional capability and the operation malfunctioned will also impact the competitive strength of Nation a lot. The case of Taipei and Tainan public libraries, it focuses on the library rule and operating management to see the differences and try to find the influence of the affiliated organization and operating management as well. The public library is the place for general reading, also a promoter for reading. Basically, the library affairs should be operated by the state apparatus, in order to solve the current dilemma, it needs to better the rule and law, amend the relevant library regulations to meet the current situation. Finally, this study would expect to the government can highlight in making a communication platform for general seeking, explore the new knowledge and civilization on the world trend, it would be helpful for us to improve the international competition.

This investigation aims to analyze and compare the ear training courses collocating with piano course of “Alfred’s Basic Piano Library” and “The Bastien Piano Library” for infant. This research applies content analysis and comparative education research, using self-developed ‘ear training music dimensional table’ as a research tool to analyze the ear training courses collocating with piano course of “Alfred’s Basic Piano Library” for infant (level A to level D) and the Bastien’s listening courses collocating with piano course of “The Very Young Pianist” (volume 1 to volume 3 ). The result and the conclusion of this research show that: 1. The ear training course collocating with piano course of “Alfred’s Basic Piano Library” for young children contains four music dimensions including tempo, melody, harmony and timbre, but no practice in the dimension of form. As for the teaching progress, it mainly joins with the progress of its piano books. 2. Bastien’s listening course collocating with piano course of “The Very Young Pianist” contains four dimensions including tempo, melody, harmony and timbre, but no practice in the dimension of form. As for the teaching progress, it puts more emphasis on the melody dimension and the interval item of harmony dimension. The implied musical behavior is logical and in sequence. 3. The content of these two ear training courses collocating with piano course are different in each music dimension because of different design rationales. (1) Generally, the content of Bestein’s ear training courses collocating with piano course of “The Very Young Pianist” puts more emphasis on developing perception and response, so it is more suitable for young children capability for music in this stage. (2) The content of ear training course collocating with piano course of “Alfred’s Basic Piano Library” for young children puts more emphasis on the learning of knowledge. Besides, the dimensions of melody in C and D level are beyond young children’ capability for music in this stage. 4. The teaching progress of these two ear training courses collocating with piano course both are logical and in sequence, but there are still some differences about the design in each dimension for these two courses. (1) The teaching progress of Bastein’s ear training course collocating with “The Vary Young Pianist” connects with the music theory of its piano text book, so their integrality is good. However, they do not completely match. (2) The teaching progress of the ear training course collocating with piano course of “Alfred’s Basic Piano Library” for young children approximately accords with the musical theory of its piano text book, but part of the content does not suit young children’ capability of music. Based on the above conclusions, the researcher makes recommendations to future researchers and piano educators in the end of this study.

The selection of an automation system is critical to library managers and users since the system can have a great impact on the information research and the library business. When choosing a library automation system, one usually considers the following: Is the system stable? Are the functionalities provided by the system complete? Does the system provide enough prospective for future expansion? Each of above can affect the fluent of operations and flow collocation in the library. In this study, we have selected five library automation systems, including the employees and users of the five systems, as our research subjects. The purpose of this research was to understand the difference of every major module in each system, and the satisfaction each module provides. By studying the functionalities of each model we can also understand the different fields in the MARC format and construct a MARC format transfer system that is capable of transferring USMARC fields to CMARC fields. In this research we have discovered the difference between the five subject automation systems and successfully constructed the USMARC to CMARC transfer system.

According to result and the discovery and so on literature discussion, questionnaire survey, semi-interview investigation, obtains following conclusion: (1)in urban area and rural area library-use instructions present situation and the difference 1. Implements the library-use instructions has the university school record using the education personnel and the teachers by the 30~40 year old but the non- books information correlation background mature female primarily, rural area young personnel and teachers then comparatively urban area young personnel be young, its title also depends on the areas to have differently 2. Implemented the library-use nstructions the main teaching was various Teacher Ban, the majority teacher all once carries on library-use nstructions in the library, also all once assigned the student to the library consultation material, also the multi- coordinate language domain carried on the teaching with to look up the material activity. Implements when the library use education the support is extracurricular worker, but plans the library using the education, the specially appointed personnel counts with worker the population depends on the country small area but to be different. 3.Implements the l library-use instructions time is "non-periodical" "reads the instruction class when various classes" carries on, the content by "the understanding entity library" primarily, the way is "various classes reads the class to teach", the object mainly is "the entire school student", conducts the different type at the different place district conference library-use instructions. In the implementation process the most major difficulty is "the library understaffed", after but implements the library use education the majority country slightly from not to have any comments activity. 4.The library position are many in two buildings, the opening hour mainly is "Monday to Friday 8: 00~16:00 ", the majority l libraries all had the electron books management system management system to process borrows also the book business, but the library space, the promoted funds origin and the amount regard the area differently . (2) urban area and rural area library-use instructions elementary student in the library-use knowledge on the difference 1. The elementary students look up the material in the library the method all are by "a notebook looks to the bookshelf in front of" the way proportion are highest, also the academic society uses the library the method is "voluntarily tries to find out", the research discovered the academic society uses the library the method and the student looks up the material the method to have reveals the correlation. But in the country small library most often the use material all by "the common books" primarily, the audio-visual material and the electron material use are all few, most often meets the difficulty is "finds the material", meets time the difficulty to seek help the object to depend on the area differently but. 2. The elementary students probably "a week" goes to a time of library, all is by "reads" to the library goal primarily, finishes class when also "occasionally" can go, when lives meets the question, "are very few" using the library looks for the answer, also by rural elementary student is. The majority student all has the use extracurricular library the experience, most often goes to the Taipei county operated public library, the reason is "looks for the material to make the work". 3. The elementary student school hours in the library active content, all are by "free reading" the proportion is highest. The majority country elementary student "has not participated in library use education", the participation reason has not been "does not have the interest", "does not have the time". Has participates in the library using education to think participates in the library regarding to use using education the library is "has the help", but it has participated the active content and the participation reason depend on the area but differently. (3) urban area and rural area library person in charge, the teacher, the student to the library-use instructions view and 1.th in expectation difference The library person in charge all thought most can achieve the implementation result the library is "various classes reads the class using the education way to teach", also all thought at present implements the library the question which first must solve using the education is "the funds". 2. The teacher all thought most can achieve the implementation result the library is "various classes reads the class using the education way to teach", but to implements the library in the question which first needs to solve using the education to appear the different view. 3. The student most hoped the country small library improvement the place is "improves the library environment", next is "the increase each time borrows the book the book number" and "supposes the computer, may look up in the library the material, and also may on the network look for the material". (4) creates urban area and rural area library-use instructions difference reasons 1. Artificial environmental factor 2. Geographical environment factor According to studies the conclusion, to the educational administration institution, the national elementary school and the futurology proposed suggested: (1) Educational administration institution 1. Clearly subscribes opens “library-use instruction curriculum". 2. Truly carries out the books teacher's stipulation. 3. Texto completoDifferent categories of people who may be scholars, lectures, students, retirees, housewives, politicians, administrators etc. use the library to access the information they require to pass exams, make decisions or read for leisure. Academic libraries are most important to all scholars and students who pass through a university. For these libraries to continue striving and provide effective services, research is required to improve on areas that are not viable to users. The professional academic librarian is mandated to provide guidance on how these services can be improved in order to make the library useful to all. This cannot be possible if the academic librarians only concentrate on shelving, acquisition, classification, cataloguing, charging and discharging and processing of information materials. The role of academic librarians has continued and will continue to change as time goes on. Many academic librarians provide research assistance to their users and other vital services to facilitate the completion of their client's research. However, it is significant to note that academic librarians must engage in research and publish, in order to improve services and attract more users to the library. Payne and Payne (2004: 9) highlights that there are two main reasons why people carry out research. One among others is because there is an intellectual challenge and the urge to fill a gap in our knowledge, or believe that current accepted theories should be tested. A second reason is that we want to change the world. Academic librarians need to be provided with incentives such as funding, promotions, and time out in order to entice them to carry out research. This study was carried out with an idea that academic librarians should carry out research and publish, for development and for the improvement of library services. Academic librarians holding a bachelors degree and above,, who were working in public universities in Eastern and Southern Africa were targeted for the study. The purpose of this research was to compare the research and publication patterns of academic librarians working in Eastern and Southern Africa from 1990 to 2006. Six objectives were formulated in order to achieve this purpose. The research was purely carried out online, 866 academic librarians names were retrieved from a total of 47 Public university libraries WebPages, via the universities websites. These names were used as access points to retrieve data from the two online databases (i.e. LISTA and WORLDCAT). Bibliometrics was used as research method, Microsoft Excel software was also employed for the purpose of data analysis and presentation of the collected data. Findings indicated that Southern Africa was the most prolific region with 194 (74.00%) of the publications emanating from there. South Africa was the most productive country in Southern Africa with 111(42.21%) publications. Tanzania was the most productive country in Eastern Africa with 31 (11.41%). Muswazi and Pienaar were the most prolific academic librarians with 11(3.97%) publications each. Most productive academic library was from Southern Africa, which was Botswana with 31 (11.41%) publications. Majority of the academic librarians from both regions contributed to one publication. The study was concluded with the following observation being made: Overall South Africa emerged the most prolific country in both regions; majority of the countries from both regions were not consistent in their publication production; there was a continuous rises and drops in research publication from 1990 to 2006; and academic librarians preferred publishing articles than any other publications, many academic librarians did not engage in research and academic librarians, from the two regions prefer publishing individually. The study further recommended several studies that needed to be carried out in Africa and other parts of the world in order to fill and clarify gaps that emanated from the study.

Texto completoCiting is the process by which scholars give recognition to research used by another academic researcher. Citation resources are tools used by academic scholars for keeping track of who did what research and the impact of the research within the discipline. Citation analysis is therefore an attempt to measure the impact and contribution of a study to the body of knowledge and research. Citation tracking and citation analysis is facilitated by making use of information resources which specialize in citations and tools for conducting citation analysis. The citation resource by The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI), Web of Science (WOS), was traditionally the citation tool of choice of academics for more than 40 years. The arrival in 2004 of Scopus, a fee-based citation resource, and Google Scholar (GS), a citation resource available for free and accessible via the Web, presented WOS with competition. The prolific growth of the citation resources created new opportunities for academics in citation tracking and citation analysis. The question of which citation resource to use in the process of tracking citations and conducting citation analysis posed a challenge to librarians and information professionals at academic institutions. It became essential to establish which citation resource was not only most relevant to use for which subject discipline, but which was the most cost-effective with the advent of shrinking library budgets. Therefore the need arose for citation resources to be compared with the aim of establishing whether the newcomers Scopus and GS are substitutes for or complementary to the traditional WOS. The objectives of this study included comparing WOS, Scopus and GS in order to determine whether evaluation criteria existed for citation resources, to define scholarly environmental sciences journals within a South African context, to determine which citation resource presented the most comprehensive citation coverage of the South African scholarly environmental sciences journals, to determine whether GS could be considered a substitute for the fee-based citation resources WOS and Scopus, and to determine how the content of the exported data for the journal sample population compared in terms of content completeness and quality. The research study consisted of a detailed literature review, followed by an empirical component using a comparative research design and the technique of purposive non-probability sampling in order to define the sample population for the study. The South African scholarly environmental sciences journals internationally accredited during the period 2004-2008 were chosen as the sample target population. The study consisted of a pilot study and three measuring instruments that were compiled based on the literature review. The results of the macro-level evaluation established that Scopus surpasses both WOS and GS. On the other hand, the micro-level evaluation concluded that WOS surpasses Scopus and GS. The content verification process conducted determined that Scopus and WOS both surpass GS. These findings were presented at the 12th Annual World Wide Web Applications conference in September 2010. The study was able to establish that GS is not a substitute for WOS and/or Scopus for the South African scholarly environmental sciences journals. In addition, it was concluded that GS can be used as a supplementary citation resource to the fee-based citation resources WOS and Scopus. It was further determined that the citation resource Scopus can be considered a substitute for WOS, which was traditionally the citation resource of choice of academic researchers.
