Resumen
AbstractThis article starts by providing a brief summary of relevance theory in information science in relation to the function theory of lexicography, explaining the different types of relevance, viz. objective system relevance and the subjective types of relevance, i.e. topical, cognitive, situational, socio-cognitive and affective relevance. It then shows, at the hand of examples, why relevance is important from a user perspective in the extra-lexicographical pre- and post-consultation phases and in the intra-lexicographical consultation phase. It defines an additional type of subjective relevance that is very important for lexicography as well as for information science, viz. functional relevance. Since all lexicographic work is ultimately aimed at satisfying users’ information needs, the article then discusses why the lexicographer should take note of all these types of relevance when planning a new dictionary project, identifying new tasks and responsibilities of the modern lexicographer. The article furthermore discusses how relevance theory impacts on teaching dictionary culture and reference skills. By integrating insights from lexicography and information science, the article contributes to new ideas for both disciplines.

Based on the author’s detailed analysis of the archive of completed references, the specific classification of lexicographic references is introduced. The virtual lexicographical references are the result of joint efforts of bibliographers and lexicographers. This type of reference holds a specific place in bibliographic reference user service. Polyfunctionality and specific diversity make information specific features of this type of references. The focus is made on the subtypes of the lexicographic references; the examples are provided. Potential lexicographical and bibliographic services are suggested for the libraries’ virtual environment to support user self-education and self-service and intensive use of lexicographic information. The article is complemented by the table to present the classification of lexicographic virtual references.

Resumen
Background. This article examines lexicography - a separate science that includes theoretical lexicography with its own theory, and since there is a theory, then there is practice, that is, practical lexicography. Lexicographic research combines both theoretical and practical aspects. The creation of innovative models of theoretical linguistic conclusions for new practical lexicographic products is the main task of lexicographic research. As a mirror reflecting the development of civilizations, the state and level of the people, relations in society, the development of scientifically progressive or orthodox thought, the dictionary covers a variety of fields of science and technology: from interpretation and semantic explanation of a word, to correct spelling and translation from one language to another.

Resumen
The papers featured in Issue 2/2021 of the Journal deal with major topics in the theory and practice of lexicography – both in a contemporary and historical perspective. The authors address problems of onomastic lexicography, neography, explanatory lexicography and the history of Bulgarian dictionary crafting. One of the papers sheds light on some aspects of the lexicographic practice in Poland. The issue is dedicated to one of the most eminent representatives of contemporary Bulgarian academic lexicography – Prof. DSc Maria Choroleeva – on the occasion of her forthcoming jubilee. Boris Parashkevov’s paper outlines a project for the creation of a dictionary of Bulgarian surnames. The concept of the dictionary envisages the organisation of family names in nests based on semantic equivalence (correspondence), associative reference and shared structural membership, thus making it possible to reveal the structural and semantic relations among the names under study. In addition, the dictionary entries document the derivational paradigm of the respective surnames, including short forms, diminutives and suffixal derivatives. Sia Kolkovska addresses some peculiarities in the lexicographic description of Bulgarian neologisms motivated by specific types of polysemy and synonymy. The author comments on the lexicographic description of the semantic structure of new polysemous loanwords and discusses the criteria for selecting a dominant synonym in synonym sets composed of neologisms. Diana Blagoeva and Sia Kolkovska’s paper also deals with issues in neography. The authors discuss the views on the categorial nature of neologisms of the type бизнесцентър/бизнес център (business centre) in Bulgarian and comment on the reasons for the emergence and establishment of this type of lexemes in the language, while considering the dynamics of their functioning. The paper motivates the necessity for the application of a special approach to the lexicographic description of this type of neologisms. Tsvetelina Georgieva comments on Nayden Gerov’s understanding of the so-called „равнознаменаменователни речи“ and highlights the contribution of the renowned lexicographer of the National Revival and the Post-liberation period to the representation of such names in an explanatory dictionary. The author maintains that these names should be considered not synonyms but heteroyms as they belong to different dialects. Nadezhda Kostova also takes a look at the history of Bulgarian lexicography in her discussion on the arrangement of dictionary entries in different types of dictionaries from the beginning of the 20th century. The author provides a comparative analysis of the peculiarities in the application of the alphabetical-nest arrangement in the lexicographic works under discussion. In his paper Petar Sotirov studies the application of the qualifier colloquially (potoczne) in Polish explanatory lexicography, taking as a point of departure the views on the notion of colloquialism in Polish linguistics. The author concludes that the dominant notion of colloquialism in Polish lexicography is the stylistic one and goes on to identify certain cases of inconsistencies and discrepancies in the use of the qualifier. Mihaela Kuzmova discusses the place of precedent phenomena (in par-ticular, the so-called “winged words”) in phraseology. The author proposes an analysis of several popular expressions of domestic precedent origin which have neither been described in lexicographic works, nor commented in the linguistic literature, and offers some observations on their phraseologisation and usualisation.

Resumen
The lexicographic activity of Ivan Kotlyarevsky, the founder of the new Ukrainian literary language, has constantly attracted and attracted the attention of researchers. The further in time his figure moves away from us, the more noticeable is his influence on the present. In the field of linguistic interests, the most prominent place is the issue of selection and extension of lexical and phraseological means, syntactic constructions of the author of “Aeneid”. Less attention is given to the research of I. Kotlyarevsky's work as a lexicographer – the founder and sponsor of the author's lexicography. The article attempts to trace the impact on the following Ukrainian lexicographic works of the Dictionary of the Lesser Russian words contained in “Aeneid” and many other Little Russians used for the fourth part of I. Kotlyarevsky. Small in size (1,125 words) and composed mainly to the text of the one work (“Aeneids”), Kotlyarevsky's dictionary is valuable both as the first Ukrainian-Russian dictionary with a vocabulary register of the new Ukrainian literary language, and as a model for compilling similar dictionaries in different editions. The lexical and phraseological units, attested in the annex to the “Aeneid” in 1809, are traced to the presence in the following Ukrainian lexicographic works of the 19th – beginning of the 21st centuries. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of Ivan Kotlyarevsky as the originator of Ukrainian author's lexicography in connection with the creation of the vocabulary of the creative personality language.

Resumen
Summary Spanish missionary lexicography in America and the Philippines is extensive and deserving of detailed research. In the Philippines, from 1600 up to 1898, more than fifty vocabularies were published in thirteen different languages. Alongside these are numerous vocabularies preserved only as manuscripts and others that are known to be lost. Following some recent publications on Philippine lexicography, in particular bibliographic surveys and studies of specific vocabularies (García-Medall 2004, 2009; Sueiro Justel 2003; Fernández Rodríguez 2009, 2012), as well as Smith-Stark’s (2009) work on Mexican lexicography, this paper presents a contrastive analysis of the lexicographic styles of seven Philippine vocabularies of five different languages: Tagalog, Visayan, Pampango, Bicol and Ilokano. Through examination of the lexicographic characteristics of the most important vocabularies written in the first two centuries of Spanish presence in the Philippines (1600–1800), the present writer tries to establish the lexicographical models used by the missionaries: whether they followed the existing models (mainly Nebrija, Molina and Calepino) or if they created a novel Philippine model. The authors of these vocabularies were missionaries of different Orders: Augustinian, Dominican, Franciscan, and Jesuits. All these vocabularies are bilingual and bidirectional, with the sole exception of the unidirectional Ilokano vocabulary.

System semantics of explanatory dictionariesSome semantic properties of the language to be followed from the structure of lexicographical systems of big explanatory dictionaries are considered. The hyperchains and hypercycles are determined as the definite kind of automorphisms of the lexicographical system of explanatory dictionary. Some semantic consequencies following from the principles of lexicographic closure and lexicographic completeness are investigated using the hyperchains and hypercycles formalism. The connection between the hypercyle properties of the lexicographical system semantics and Goedel’s incompleteness theorem is discussed.

Resumen
Abstract The Georgian Dialect Corpus (GDC) has been created within the framework of the project “Linguistic Portrait of Georgia”. It was the first attempt to create a structured corpus of Georgian dialects. The work of this project includes building the technical framework for a corpus, collecting the corpus (text) data of Georgian dialects including the lexicographic data (dictionaries), their linguistic processing, digitizing, developing annotation framework, making decision on the morphosyntactic annotation. Currently, the Georgian Dialect Corpus is a platform consisting of the dialect corpus, the text library, the lexicographical database/online dialect dictionaries. For the purposes of developing the lexicographical database and dialect dictionaries, we have created a new program – the Lexicographic Editor. It allows us to structure and improve the dictionaries with multiple linguistic and lexicographic information. The lexicographic concept of the GDC has been developed taking into consideration linguistic and social features of the Georgian dialects.

Resumen
Abstract A user-driven approach in lexicography - e.g. the function theory of lexicography (Bergenholtz & Tarp 2002, 2003, 2004; Fuertes-Olivera & Tarp 2014; Tarp 2008) - compels lexicographers to use all possible means at their disposal to improve the quality of dictionary use and to ensure an optimal retrieval of information from the lexicographical data. For instance, the advent of the internet has substantially modified the design and compilation of dictionaries in two ways. First, online dictionaries are dynamic tools, which makes them more suitable for meeting user needs in different user situations. Second, thinking in terms of static lexicographic structures is erroneous as these are ill-suited for benefiting from existing and potential internet technologies, for complying with the tenets of the user needs paradigm, and for analysing the merits of lexicographical tasks such as lexicographical storing. This article follows Bergenholtz & Agerbo’s concept of lexicographical structuring, which supports the main tenets of the user needs paradigm and the necessity of analysing the process of storing lexicographical data in a lexicographical database. This analysis supports my belief that lexicographical storing is a new lexicographical task which must be better understood, especially when working with the large amount of data being stored in lexicographical databases such as the one on which we are currently compiling the UNIVERSIDAD DE VALLADOLID INTERNET DICTIONARIES OF SPANISH.

The author characterizes the information potential of the theses in lexicography to be efficiently used in reference and bibliographic user services. From this viewpoint, 150 dissertation research papers were analyzed to reveal and illustrate the different types of lexicographic information resources (LIR) described in the above works, or listed in the supplementary bibliographies. The LIR distinguishing feature is their multifuntionality: they act as the source for latent bibliographic information, as a historiographic source, as a lexicographic source, etc. Using this intensive information potentiality enables to comply with various user requests of lexicographic character, even the most complex of them. The article is supplemented with the vast table comprising the main LIR obtained as the findings of dissertation research. The author suggests that many theses bibliographies enable building subject bibliographies to be used in reference services. The author concludes that the information features of the dissertations in lexicography enables to comply with various complex requests and to improve reference user services.

Resumen
Summary Lexicography is basically concerned with the meaning and use of words. In recent times, lexicographers have investigated not only the meanings of words in their mutual systemic relations (e.g., synonymy, antonymy, hoponymy etc.), but modern lexicographic research has extended its interest into the area of studying the way words are used and, in particular, how lexical associations are used and how various meanings linked to individual lexical items are reflected in the areas of their word-formation; phraseological and paremiological productivity of lexicography is, therefore, directly connected to phraseology because the target of both disciplines is to investigate sets of fixed expressions (idioms, phrasal verbs, etc.) and other types of multi-word lexical units. This paper makes an attempt to make an in-depth lexicographic account of the lexical item girl and its productivity, as evidenced in lexicographic sources. Our sample data may provide a starting point for producing an alternative reference work for non-native learners of English.

The article analyses some aspects of lexicographic activity of L. V. Scherba: it examines his contribution into the development of the theory of lexicography, gives a survey of the dictionaries compiled with his participation in the 1920s–30s of the XX century, introduces to the scientific community some little-known facts of his lexicographic activity of the period. In addition to a general scientific overview of special literature and the analysis of his «Dictionary of the Russian Language», the article presents facts of the archival documents from Saint Petersburg branch of the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The article deals with such unknown or little-known facts as L. V. Schera’s personal participation in the 1920s–30s in a number of lexicographic projects in Moscow and Leningrad: he took part in the compilation of «Lenin’s» dictionary of the Russian language, made in Moscow, A. S. Griboyedov’s «Woe from Wit» dictionary. A special page in the history of L. V. Scherba’s lexicographic activity became his work as a member of the Dictionary commission of the Academy of Sciences, his being an editor of a number of issues of the «Dictionary of the Russian Language» under the general edition of A. A. Shahmatov, and also compilation of the IX volume of the «Dictionary of the Russian Language» edited by N. S. Derzhavin. The article gives a brief analysis of the materials of the only published first issue («И – Идеализироваться») of this volume. The article summarizes important and topical for the theory of lexicography L. V. Sherba’s observations and statements resulting from his considerable practical dictionary making work. Resumen
Lexicography was, is and remains one of the most relevant branches of linguistics. It has a clear practical and applied orientation. No language can do without lexicographical works. Today, traditional dictionaries, along with, of course, electronic, remain one of the most effective means of preserving the language. They play an important role in the formation and development of the spiritual culture of the people. Agricultural vocabulary is one of the primary fragments of the linguistic picture of the world of the Ukrainian people, so it deserves lexicographical elaboration. Agricultural production has always played an important role in the economic activity of the Central Slobozhanshchina (Kharkov region). The purpose of the article is to demonstrate the principles of construction of dictionary articles in the above lexicographical work, presenting the basic models of lexicographic description of units included in the dictionary register. We see the prospects for further research in the compilation of the Dictionary of Agricultural Vocabulary of Central Slobozhanshchina (Kharkov region) or materials to it.

Resumen
Abstract This paper conceptualizes dictionary bilingualization as a recontextualizing practice and explores how ideology and power play out in the recontextualization of lexicographic discourse across languages and cultures to result in the transformation of meaning. It first proposes viewing the (bilingualized) dictionary as discourse and emphasizes bilingual lexicography as a site of an asymmetrical linguistic and cultural power dynamics. The paper then argues that a synergy of critical discourse analysis and postcolonial studies can reveal the inter-cultural ideological struggle implicit in the bilingualizing lexicographic practice. The body of the study is devoted to the analysis of those shifts taking place in the entries, definition, illustrative examples and pragmatic labels in a bilingualized English-Chinese dictionary, which, when viewed cumulatively, significantly reshape the ideological positioning of the dictionary. The paper discusses the implications for critical lexicographic studies and for research into the interplay between power and resistance between dominating and dominated cultures. It concludes that Periphery English dictionary compilers are able to negotiate the different subjectivities and ideologies inherent in dictionary making and to adopt a subject position favorable to their empowerment in the international English lexicography, although such resistance is far from capable of restructuring the order of lexicography.

Loránd-Levente Pálfi, Karin Wolgast & Tinne Hoff Kjeldsen: Towards an aesthetics of lexicography In this paper, we examine a subject which has apparently never before been the object of research or published intellectual reasoning. The question is if such a thing as a beautiful dictionary or encyclopedia exists, i.e. if we can address lexicographic beauty conceived of as the sum of various inner qualities of lexicographic reference works while stripping our concept of the external properties of books such as bindings, cover, the quality of paper and print, layout, user-interface, etc. After investigating aesthetic qualities as established in other academic fields, of which mathematics and literature have been selected as representative for the purpose of developing a complementary paradigm, the article undertakes a tentative definition of lexicographic beauty.

Resumen
AbstractForeign language learners need to get cultural information during their learning process for their oral and written comprehension and expression activities. Current lexicographic products are not characterized by showing explicit, systematic, and organized cultural data about cultural words or expressions found in their vocabularies. Current lexicographic products are not characterized by showing explicit and/or systematically cultural data about cultural words or expressions found in their vocabularies. Consequently, learners’ communicative and cognitive needsare not satisfied when looking up any cultural word and/or expression. One of the challenges of lexicography is how to select and represent cultural data in various lexicographic products. Overcoming this double challenge will depend on how these lexicographic tools cope with the following actions: (1) personalization of the lexicographic product; (2) integration in other tools (e.g. writing assistants); and (3) development of the product as a learning tool and not only a consultation tool. In view of this issue, this paper discusses about how to select cultural data from different sources and how to represent them in Write Assistant, a tool created by the Danish language technology company Ordbogen and published in 2019, though still in progress. Special attention will be given to Spanish speakers learning the English language.

The Geolectal Dictionary of Cuba (DiGeCu) is an ongoing lexicographical project of the Institute of Literature and Linguistics of Cuba. It is proposed to order and lemmatize the geolectal information gathered by the linguistic Atlas of Cuba (ALCu) -principal result of the project “Elaboration of the Linguistic Atlas of Cuba (ALCu)” - published in five volumes. This article collects some aspects of the lexicographical plant (drafting plan) of the DiGeCu. This work is novel because it takes unprocessed geolectal information for lexicographic purposes and organizes, analyzes, processes and lemmatizes it. Its originality lies in its own source, the geolectal data itself and its methodological approaches, arising from Hispanic practices and the contribution of the team itself, composed of specialists in dialectology and lexicography. The Geolectal Dictionary and the academic works derived from it will undoubtedly be a fundamental source not only for other companies of this type, but also for studies on the Spanish of Cuba from different points of view; since there will be an inventory of Cuban atlas units processed with lexicographical rigor.

Resumen
Article is focused on lexicographic interpretation of chronologically noted words. Chronologically noted lexicon is defined as lexicon which lexicographic submission is followed by any reference fixing attachment of a lexical unit to some historical period showing a «time» component of the meaning. Article purpose is to present the system of ways of chronologically noted lexicon representation in Russian lexicography according to the basis of the research of explanatory dictionaries of different type. In the work the following methods of a research as descriptive, comparative, method of the component analysis, method of dictionary interpretation are used. The system of submission of chronological information in different explanatory dictionaries has both similarity and distinction. As the research has shown, the choice of lexicographic procedures of chronologically noted lexicon characteristics made by different authors depends on two key factors: dictionary type (according to S.I. Ozhegov’s classification) and theoretical position of its makers.

Resumen
The article is devoted to several dictionary monuments related to the Azbukovnik genre, which arose and developed in Old Russian lexicography in the 17th century. Several manuscripts of these monuments, judging by the handwriting, are related to the lexicographer David Zamaray who was the head of the Moscow Printing House in the early 17th century. The characteristic handwriting of David Zamaray, with which the manuscripts with his author’s notes were written, is found in the manuscripts of the National Library of Russia (RNL), Solovetskoye sobr., No. 302/322, RNB, Sophijskoe sobr., No. 1567. Also, presumably Zamaray can be attributed to the list of manuscripts of the Russian State Library (RSL), collection S.O.Dolgova, No. 45. Manuscripts of the National Library of Russia, Solovetskoye collection, No. 302/322 and RSL, collection S.O.Dolgova, No. 45 refer to the little-studied period of the formation of the Azbukovnik genre. The first manuscript, organized alphabetically and partly by thematic organization of the vocabulary material, probably served as a reference for David Zamaray in his work on other dictionaries. The second manuscript is part of the lexicographic tradition of the early alphabet books, in which manuscripts of two editions are distinguished. The RNL manuscript, Sophia collection, No. 1567 is a manuscript of a separate edition of the Sixth Azbukovnik described in the article in comparison with other lexicographic monuments.

Resumen
This article argues that the essence of lexicography is its capacity to satisfy the potential users’ punctual information needs in contrast to their global information needs. Simultaneously it shows that lexicographic theory, which so far has studied only two basic types of social situations where information needs may occur, the communicative and cognitive ones, should also study a third type of basic situations, which are referred to as operational user situations. On this basis, the article projects lexicography beyond the limits of known dictionaries considered as products of applied linguistics and discusses the relation that should be established between lexicography and other branches of human knowledge. It argues that lexicography, focusing on its core specialities, has a lot to contribute to these branches of knowledge. In this respect, it discusses not only traditional dictionaries but also the benefit that authors of handbooks, manuals, how-to’s, user guides, textbooks and other types of texts may have from a renewed lexicographic theory that focuses on quick and easy access to data from which the potential users and readers may retrieve the information needed in specific situations. Finally, it argues that a number of university study programs may benefit from short courses on the core specialities of lexicography.

The lexicographic macrostructure is not merely the arrangement of lemmata, but a structure which applies to the dictionary as a whole. For descriptive purposes, one distinction between the macrostructure of dictionaries is simple and complex macrostructures. On the basis of empirical evidence, suggestions are made in respect of the degree of complexity of lexicographic macrostructures and the interrelationship between or among the macrostructural components.

Resumen
The paper uses three cases of folklore lexicography to substantiate its applicability and the methodological capacity it holds in the study of onomastic elements of different folklore genres. It is this original lexicographic approach that gives a new perspective and brings new results to the solution of some recurrent problems connected with the poetic language of folklore. The research builds on the lexicographic projects by Kursk linguists, focused on folklore studies: a dictionary of the language of bylinas and the concordances of Russian non-ritual lyric songs. The present study employs the overlay technique for comparing dictionary entries and gives three cases of its application. The first compares lexicographic descriptions of the Dunai (Danube) river name as one of the key images of Russian folklore, and how it is used in non-ritual lyric songs of the 19th century. This has allowed the authors to identify semantic differences in the river name across the regions. The second case illustrates that, lexicographically, the body of folklore proper names has a capacity to verbalize the emotional experience of the ethnic group that has both regional and gender-based specificity. The third case considers the meaning, usage, and derivational potential of exotic place names. Based on bylinas texts, the authors illustrate transformations of borrowed words in the vocabulary of Russian folk-tale narrators. On the general scale, embracing a lexicographic approach to the study of folklore vocabulary can solve a number of long-standing issues related to semantics, word-formation, generic and territorial features of the national poetic language. Apart from that, the authors conclude that folklore lexicography can open new interesting areas of onomastic research and gives a tool to explore them.

Resumen
The present paper focuses on ways in which the pragmatic (functional) meaning that arises from various contextual features, known in corpus linguistics as semantic prosody, can become an integral part of lexicographical descriptions as they are represented in the Slovene Lexical Database (SLD). This is particularly important for the treatment of phraseology and idiomatics. First, the theoretical background is provided, with the focus on the prototype theory and its practical implications for monolingual lexicography. A parallel is drawn with the model of meaning analysis in the SLD. The second part begins with a brief introduction to semantic prosody and continues with an analysis of monolingual meaning descriptions in the SLD against a number of authentic corpus examples, investigating how their pragmatic components have been identified. The analysis of corpus data shows that pragmatics is an important contributor to the process of sense discrimination in works of lexical and lexicographic relevance.

Resumen
It is well known that lexicography, this fertile ground for scientific research, owes a lot to English researchers. This is confirmed by a historical reference pointing to a specific time period (sixteenth century) when the first reference books started to appear in England, which was ahead of the rest of Europe in this aspect. In spite of this, English lexicography has become pivotal in this matter, it is clear that it has not developed the science of lexicography autonomously. For instance, Scottish lexicographers have introduced authentic and separate dictionary directions, such as glossaries of difficult and obscure Scottish words. The collective monograph Scottish in Definition. A History of Scottish Dictionaries. published in Edinburgh in 2012 and edited by I. McLeod and J. Derrick McClure was an inspiration to correct the situation. The preconditions for the emergence and continued existence of variant national lexicographies have been considered by science for many centuries. During the course of this continuous work a great number of patterns and tendencies have been described accompanying the birth of the lexicography of a particular state, and there is no doubt that all these cases were made possible only by the release of a comprehensive explanatory dictionary, responsible for the description of one particular language. Scottish lexicography plays a prominent role in recent research, as the issue of national identity is particularly relevant at present. The objective of this paper is to address the problems of authenticity of Scottish lexicography within the language system using methods of classifying the evolution stages of Scottish lexicography along with lexicographic analysis of modern Scottish dictionaries. The undertaken research shows that Scottish lexicography is a real phenomenon in British lexicography.

Statement of the problem. The article examines the content of the spirituality concept, formed by the explanatory dictionaries of the modern Russian literary language; the change in its (concept) functional-stylistic lexicographic qualifications as a reflection of the change in value orientations in society. The purpose of the article is to study the lexicographic history of the spirituality concept in a comparative analysis of different dictionaries. The research methodology is based on the comparative method, contextual and, above all, lexicographic analysis of the main explanatory dictionaries of the Russian language. Research results. The study showed that there is no strict unification in the interpretation and functional-stylistic qualifications of the concept under study in the explanatory dictionaries of the Russian language. Conclusions. In modern domestic explanatory lexicography, there is no unified approach both to understanding the content (interpretation) of the spirituality concept, and in its functional and stylistic qualifications. The author’s contribution consists in a large-format (all the main explanatory dictionaries of the modern Russian language) and a very detailed study, which has not been carried out earlier in relation to this very concept.

AbstractThe increasing usage of shortened forms in everyday spoken and written English can prove to be a substantial challenge for EFL learners at any level, both in terms of decoding and, albeit maybe to a lesser extent, encoding. This article takes a learner-based approach and assesses the needs of the learners, maps their lexicographic search routes via the outer access structure, and at the microstructural level it critically analyses the lexicographical portrayal of selected types of shortened form in three of the online English monolingual learners’ dictionaries (OMLD). A number of particular learner’s issues thereby arise and proposals for improvements to the outer and inner access structures in order to facilitate usage, to prevent waste in terms of lexicographic information costs and to enhance the acquisition of encyclopaedic knowledge are posited.

Quality of Multilingual Specialised Lexicography in PolandThe aim of this paper is to evaluate the state of multilingual specialised lexicography in Poland over a period of almost 70 years. Based on the analysis of macro- and microstructures of multilingual dictionaries published in Poland since 1945, the study offers a thorough insight into the key parameters of such works, including their general lexicographic structure, presentation of the content as well as potential usefulness for users. Compared with the achievements of theoretical lexicography, the terminographic analysis has enabled the author to draw meaningful conclusions and put forward applicative proposals for future dictionaries.

Resumen
Zdaniem autora potrzeba nowej systematyzacji terminologii leksykograficznej i metaleksykograficznej wynika ze znacznego rozwoju leksykografii w ciągu ostatnich kilkunastu lat, przede wszystkim „rewolucji cyfrowej”. On the need for a new systematization of (meta)lexicographical terminology. In connection with the work on the PAN Great Dictionary of Polish The author of the article argues that there is a need for a new systematization of lexicographical and metalexicographical terminology, which results from a significant development of lexicography and, in particular, from the “digital revolution”. Some traditionally established metalexicographical terms, e.g. megastructure, should now be reinterpreted; new terms have been coined. Another important issue is the translation of the (mostly English) terms used in international metalexicographical discourse into Polish, as well as the translation of the terms coined in Polish metalexicography (during the preparation of the PAN [Polish Academy of Sciences] Great Dictionary of Polish) into English. The author calls for a new systematization of the lexicographical terminology, preferably in the form of a lexicon or a textbook. Currently available publications, especially those published in Polish, do not take in account the latest developments in lexicographic terminology. Keywords: lexicography, metalexicography, terminology, electronic dictionaries

Resumen
One of the most crucial problems in the historical lexicography of the Russian language is that lexicographers are regularly faced with texts and sources which often have neither been properly published, if at all, nor properly commented on from linguistic, philological, and historical points of view. The first part of these research notes shows that a Greek source of one of the liturgical chants dedicated to SS. Constantine and Helene has been erroneously identified in the Index of the Incipita of Old East Slavonic liturgical chants; this made it possible to assume textual corruption in the Slavonic translation and prevented scholars from establishing a correct understanding of the hapax legomenon tresadovnyj, which actually means ‘made of three species of wood’ (about the Holy Cross made of the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box, according to Christian exegesis of Is 60:13). In the second part of these research notes, the edition and lexicographic interpretation of one passage from the Church Slavonic translation of the Homilies by Gregory the Dialogist have been critically reconsidered. Editorial mistakes and a lack of commentary has made it impossible to understand and to explain adequately the phrase krotostʹ na tjažestʹ obratiti lit. ‘to transmute modesty into gravity.’ This phrase is important to exemplify the rare meaning of the Church Slavonic word tjažestʹ (lit. heaviness, gravity) ‘dignity,’ which is lexicographically recorded in this meaning only in a few translated texts, and attests a semantic calque. While the Slavonic translation of this passage is erroneous, its edition and lexicographic interpretation are corrupted and inadequate, so that on the basis of the edition and of the available dictionaries one could not understand that the phrase krotostʹ na tjažestʹ obratiti (‘to transmute modesty into gravity’) actually means ‘to renounce light-mindedness and to return to (proper) dignity.’ In the third part of the article, the lexical meaning of the words tščetina, tščetinnyj is analyzed. The final part is dedicated to the critical analysis of some erroneous editorial decisions made by scholars, who ignored the Greek origin of translated texts.

Resumen
The article presents the concept of improving the professional competence of students-philologists within the framework of lexicographical workshop. The potential of dictionaries as a means of forming professional competence of students-philologists, in our opinion, is not fully realized in the practice of University teaching of linguistic disciplines. Dictionary materials as a linguistic and methodological resource are used mainly in the formation and improvement of "user" skills in the field of lexicography. Students are rarely involved in the compilation of vocabulary materials. The novelty of our concept is that we offer a comprehensive improvement of professional competence of the student-philologist on lexicographical material, and not only the skills of using dictionaries. The purpose of our study, implemented on the basis of Pskov University, was to substantiate this concept, to implement it in the framework of experimental training of students-philologists, to conduct a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the results of the experiment. This article presents the theoretical foundations of the concept, shows the specific methods of formation of various components of linguistic and cultural competence of students on lexicographical material. The results of experimental training, which are also given in the article, showed a significant increase in the level of professional competence of students, and thus confirmed the effectiveness of the developed model of lexicographic workshop.
