Resumen
Abstract Europa is a premier target for advancing both planetary science and astrobiology, as well as for opening a new window into the burgeoning field of comparative oceanography. The potentially habitable subsurface ocean of Europa may harbor life, and the globally young and comparatively thin ice shell of Europa may contain biosignatures that are readily accessible to a surface lander. Europa’s icy shell also offers the opportunity to study tectonics and geologic cycles across a range of mechanisms and compositions. Here we detail the goals and mission architecture of the Europa Lander mission concept, as developed from 2015 through 2020. The science was developed by the 2016 Europa Lander Science Definition Team (SDT), and the mission architecture was developed by the preproject engineering team, in close collaboration with the SDT. In 2017 and 2018, the mission concept passed its mission concept review and delta-mission concept review, respectively. Since that time, the preproject has been advancing the technologies, and developing the hardware and software, needed to retire risks associated with technology, science, cost, and schedule.

Resumen
Human exploration of the Moon is associated with substantial risks to astronauts from space radiation. On the surface of the Moon, this consists of the chronic exposure to galactic cosmic rays and sporadic solar particle events. The interaction of this radiation field with the lunar soil leads to a third component that consists of neutral particles, i.e., neutrons and gamma radiation. The Lunar Lander Neutrons and Dosimetry experiment aboard China’s Chang’E 4 lander has made the first ever measurements of the radiation exposure to both charged and neutral particles on the lunar surface. We measured an average total absorbed dose rate in silicon of 13.2 ± 1 μGy/hour and a neutral particle dose rate of 3.1 ± 0.5 μGy/hour.

Resumen
In the task of lunar soil collection, estimating the volume of the collected soil is an important part of the sampling control of the lander. Due to the design constraints of the lander, there is no additional installation position for volume measurement equipment. To fully use the sensors already installed, a collected soil volume measurement method is designed in this paper based only on a single monitoring camera. This method uses a sequence of images of the collection area captured by the camera mounted on the acquisition arm to accurately reconstruct the terrain of the collection area surface before and after soil acquisition. Additionally, bi-temporal dense point clouds are reconstructed. Based on the area of change associated with soil collection, the constructed dense point clouds are compared according to the topographic characteristics of the area to estimate the volume of soil collected. Experiments show that the method is stable and reliable and can meet the requirements of actual measurement tasks.

Resumen
Abstract. Studies on the impacts of climate change typically focus on changes to mean conditions. However, animals live in temporally variable environments that give rise to different exposure histories that can potentially affect their sensitivities to climate change. Ocean deoxygenation has been observed in nearshore, upper-slope depths in the Southern California Bight, but how these changes compare to the magnitude of natural O2 variability experienced by seafloor communities at short timescales is largely unknown. We developed a low-cost and spatially flexible approach for studying nearshore, deep-sea ecosystems and monitoring deepwater oxygen variability and benthic community responses. Using a novel, autonomous, hand-deployable Nanolander® with an SBE MicroCAT and camera system, high-frequency environmental (O2, T, estimated pH) and seafloor community data were collected at depths between 100 and 400 m off San Diego, CA, to characterize timescales of natural environmental variability, changes in O2 variability with depth, and community responses to O2 variability. Oxygen variability was strongly linked to tidal processes, and contrary to expectation, oxygen variability did not decline linearly with depth. Depths of 200 and 400 m showed especially high O2 variability; these conditions may give rise to greater community resilience to deoxygenation stress by exposing animals to periods of reprieve during higher O2 conditions and invoking physiological acclimation during low O2 conditions at daily and weekly timescales. Despite experiencing high O2 variability, seafloor communities showed limited responses to changing conditions at these shorter timescales. Over 5-month timescales, some differences in seafloor communities may have been related to seasonal changes in the O2 regime. Overall, we found lower-oxygen conditions to be associated with a transition from fish-dominated to invertebrate-dominated communities, suggesting this taxonomic shift may be a useful ecological indicator of hypoxia. Due to their small size and ease of use with small boats, hand-deployable Nanolanders can serve as a powerful capacity-building tool in data-poor regions for characterizing environmental variability and examining seafloor community sensitivity to climate-driven changes.

Resumen
To support the increasing number of planned lunar missions, a collaborative international initiative is underway to conceptualise and establish a lunar satellite constellation for communication and navigation. In this context, the goal of the current paper is to analyse what the obtainable performance is for a lunar lander that executes state estimation employing one-way ranging signals from such a Lunar Navigation Service (LNS). In particular, a small-sized optimised navigation constellation is considered as the main source of measurements, which, coupled with an accelerometer and an altimeter, is used to estimate the lander absolute trajectory during the main braking phase. The guidance is extracted on board by interpolation of a ground-optimised trajectory, followed by a reference-tracking regulator. Two alternative control tuning cases are presented, one targeting high performance, the other targeting low propellant mass. Nominal performance and associated sensitivity analyses assessed the feasibility of supporting such a critical phase with a reduced LNS constellation, reaching final control errors below 500m, with the better performing one going down to 56m. Among the two proposed alternatives, the one targeting low fuel expenditure has proven, however, to also be more robust against time and state uncertainty, providing much larger success rates.

Resumen
Variegation in Vitis hybrids was investigated to confirm the inheritance as a single, recessive gene as previously proposed and commonly observed in breeding programs. Variegated leaves have ornamental appeal, but the phenotype is sublethal in some environments. Twenty-nine grape families were characterized for variegation including F1, S1, and S2 populations. The majority segregated 3 wild type (WT):1 variegated and were supported by chi-square tests. Four populations had segregation ratios supporting 15:1 or 1:1 models, and a unique flecking phenotype was identified in a Landot 4511 S1 population that suggested the interaction of two recessive loci. A variegated parent was selfed to produce progeny with no WT offspring and was segregated 0:1. Marker trait associations including bulk segregant analysis (BSA), genome-wide association mapping, and quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping was used on three populations. On chromosome 14, Lvar1 was identified and mapped to 24.5 to 29.5 Mb and associated closely with rhAmpSeq marker 14_27607541. Lvar2 was associated with rhAmpSeq marker 11_18433819 on chromosome 11 at 12.2 to 18.4 Mb. The identification of two loci and the segregation data in some populations suggest that grape breeding germplasm segregates for two recessive loci. The pedigree records suggest that ‘Frontenac’ inherited one of these loci, and that Landot 4511, an ancestor of many populations tested in this experiment, may carry two loci. A total of 252 candidate genes were identified at these loci, including a key target—adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-dependent zinc metalloprotease FtsH6, involved in photosystem II and similar to the var2 mutant in Arabidopsis. This knowledge can help breeders select for ornamental grapevines or eliminate variegation from their breeding programs.

Resumen
Abstract. Age–depth relationships are the key elements in paleoenvironmental studies to place proxy measurements into a temporal context. However, potential influencing factors of the available radiocarbon data and the associated modeling process can cause serious divergences of age–depth relationships from true chronologies, which is particularly challenging for paleolimnological studies in Arctic regions. This paper provides geoscientists with a tool-assisted approach to compare outputs from age–depth modeling systems and to strengthen the robustness of age–depth relationships. We primarily focused on the development of age determination data from a data collection of high-latitude lake systems (50 to 90∘ N, 55 sediment cores, and a total of 602 dating points). Our approach used five age–depth modeling systems (Bacon, Bchron, clam, hamstr, Undatable) that we linked through a multi-language Jupyter Notebook called LANDO (“Linked age and depth modeling”). Within LANDO we implemented a pipeline from data integration to model comparison to allow users to investigate the outputs of the modeling systems. In this paper, we focused on highlighting three different case studies: comparing multiple modeling systems for one sediment core with a continuously deposited succession of dating points (CS1), for one sediment core with scattered dating points (CS2), and for multiple sediment cores (CS3). For the first case study (CS1), we showed how we facilitate the output data from all modeling systems to create an ensemble age–depth model. In the special case of scattered dating points (CS2), we introduced an adapted method that uses independent proxy data to assess the performance of each modeling system in representing lithological changes. Based on this evaluation, we reproduced the characteristics of an existing age–depth model (Lake Ilirney, EN18208) without removing age determination data. For multiple sediment cores (CS3) we found that when considering the Pleistocene–Holocene transition, the main regime changes in sedimentation rates do not occur synchronously for all lakes. We linked this behavior to the uncertainty within the dating and modeling process, as well as the local variability in catchment settings affecting the accumulation rates of the sediment cores within the collection near the glacial–interglacial transition.

This study aims to identify and analyze production costs in order to determine the seling price of the”Tofu Maju Lancar” product. The method utilized is the cost pluspricing approach with the full costing method, ensuring that the selling price is set effectively to generate optimal profits. This research employs a qualitative approach and utilizes descriptive research techniques. The focal point of this research is the company “Tofu Maju Lancar”, which operates as a tofu producer. The primary objective of this study is to gather pertinen data concerning production costs. The focus of this research encompasses the costs associated with the entire production process. The findings of this study indicate that while the cost plus pricing method using UMKM calculations does yield profits, the home industry is unable to attain the anticipated 50% profits due to generated profits remaining insufficient to cover the factory overhead costs that must be shouldered.

Resumen
The study of Vassiliev invariants for knots can be reduced to the study of the algebra of chord diagrams modulo certain relations (as done by Bar-Natan). Chmutov, Duzhin and Lando defined the idea of the intersection graph of a chord diagram, and conjectured that these graphs determine the equivalence class of the chord diagrams. They proved this conjecture in the case when the intersection graph is a tree. This paper extends their proof to the case when the graph contains a single loop, and determines the size of the subalgebra generated by the associated "loop diagrams." While the conjecture is known to be false in general, the extent to which it fails is still unclear, and this result helps to answer that question.

Resumen
Shallot production has many challenges, including the anthracnose disease caused by the pathogen Colletotrichum gloeosporioides Penz. Disease characteristics include severe twisting of leaves, neck elongation, and necrosis of leaves. This disease can cause yield loss of up to 100 percent. In addition to chemical control practices, resistant shallot varieties will be very useful in decreasing losses. However, information about existing shallot varieties resistant to C. gloeosporioides is limited. The study objectives are to identify the shallot varieties resistant to C. gloeosporioides and identify morphological characters and secondary metabolites of the leaves that may associate with the defense mechanism in shallot. Fourteen shallot varieties underwent a single factor use in a randomized block design in the field and laboratory experiments. The experiment transpired from January to June 2021. Planting healthy shallot bulbs of all genotypes in a polybag containing sterile media continued by artificial inoculation of C. gloeosporioides after the plant had 3–5 leaves. The field test showed that the Sumenep variety has the best resistant level to C. gloeosporioides, with a disease severity score of about 30.19%. On the other hand, the Blue Lancor variety is most susceptible, with a disease severity score reaching 95.05%. The study also found an indication that a possible resistance of shallots to C. gloeosporioides relates to the thickness of the palisade tissue (r =-0.8, P < 0.001), with the induced mechanism associated with the detection of the presence and increase of carbamic acid concentrations.

Resumen
Abstract We report confirmed impact sources for two seismic events on Mars detected by the NASA InSight mission. These events have been positively associated with fresh impact craters identified from orbital images, which match predicted locations and sizes to within a factor of 3, and have formation time constraints consistent with the seismic event dates. They are both of the very high frequency family of seismic events and are present with chirps (dispersed infrasound/acoustic waves). This brings the total number of confirmed Martian impact-related seismic events to eight thus far. All seismic events with chirp signals have now been confirmed as having been caused by impact cratering events. This includes all seismic activity within 100 km of the lander and two out of the four events with source locations between 100 and 300 km distance.

Resumen
Evaluation of: Tita AT, Landon MB, Spong CY et al.: Timing of elective repeat cesarean delivery at term and neonatal outcomes. N. Engl. J. Med. 360(2), 111–120 (2009). The increasing rates of repeat cesarean delivery necessitate, more than ever, the need to time deliveries to optimize neonatal outcomes. A recent large multicenter cohort study demonstrated that, contrary to current recommendations, a high proportion of elective cesarean deliveries in the USA are performed before 39 weeks' gestation. These early deliveries are associated with a significant increase in several adverse neonatal events, including respiratory complications, treated hypoglycemia, newborn sepsis and admission to the neonatal intensive care unit. This, together with results of previous studies, supports the recommendation to delay elective delivery to 39 weeks' gestation. From the current data, it is uncertain whether delivery before 39 weeks' gestation with documented fetal lung maturity will prevent the increased neonatal morbidity.

Resumen
For 2 years, the InSight lander has been recording seismic data on Mars that are vital to constrain the structure and thermochemical state of the planet. We used observations of direct (P and S) and surface-reflected (PP, PPP, SS, and SSS) body-wave phases from eight low-frequency marsquakes to constrain the interior structure to a depth of 800 kilometers. We found a structure compatible with a low-velocity zone associated with a thermal lithosphere much thicker than on Earth that is possibly related to a weak S-wave shadow zone at teleseismic distances. By combining the seismic constraints with geodynamic models, we predict that, relative to the primitive mantle, the crust is more enriched in heat-producing elements by a factor of 13 to 20. This enrichment is greater than suggested by gamma-ray surface mapping and has a moderate-to-elevated surface heat flow.

Resumen
The advent of the human genome sequence and the resulting ~20,000 genes provide a crucial framework for a transition from traditional biology to an integrative “OMICs” arena (Lander et al., 2001; Venter et al., 2001; Kitano, 2002). This brings in a revolution for cancer research, which now enters a big data era. In the past decade, with the facilitation by next-generation sequencing, there have been a huge number of large-scale sequencing efforts, such as The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), the HapMap, and the 1000 genomes project. As a result, a deluge of genomic information becomes available from patients stricken by a variety of cancer types. The list of cancer-associated genes is ever expanding. New discoveries are made on how frequent and highly penetrant mutations, such as those in the telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) andTP53, function in cancer initiation, progression, and metastasis. Most genes with relatively frequent but weakly penetrant cancer mutations still remain to be characterized. In addition, genes that harbor rare but highly penetrant cancer-associated mutations continue to emerge. Here, we review recent advances related to cancer genomics, proteomics, and systems biology and suggest new perspectives in targeted therapy and precision medicine.

Ancient metallurgy is a broad concept and is associated both with mining and metalworking, and in many cases is evidence of their existence. Data on metalworking are indirect evidence of the development of mining. Metal implements, weapons, and ornaments were the most mobile material, and metal and its articles were one of the main objects of ancient barter. The development of metallurgy became one of the main drivers of economic life during different historical eras, and the territory of Bulgaria is no exception, but on the contrary, it is one of the places where this activity originated and developed for centuries.

AbstractMars landed and orbiter missions have instrumentation capable of detecting oxychlorine phases (e.g. perchlorate, chlorate) on the surface. Perchlorate (~0.6 wt%) was first detected by the Wet Chemistry Laboratory in the surface material at the Phoenix Mars Landing site. Subsequent analyses by the Thermal Evolved Gas Analyser aboard the same lander detected an oxygen release (~465°C) consistent with the thermal decomposition of perchlorate. Recent thermal analysis by the Mars Science Laboratory's Sample Analysis at Mars instrument has also indicated the presence of oxychlorine phases (up to 1.2 wt%) in Gale Crater materials. Despite being at detectable concentrations, the Chemistry and Mineralogy (CheMin) X-ray diffractometer has not detected oxychlorine phases. This suggests that Gale Crater oxychlorine may exist as poorly crystalline phases or that perchlorate/chlorate mixtures exist, so that individual oxychlorine concentrations are below CheMin detection limits (~1 wt%). Although not initially designed to detect oxychlorine phases, reinterpretation of Viking Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometer data also suggest that oxychlorine phases are present in the Viking surface materials. Remote near-infrared spectral analyses by the Compact Reconnaissance Imaging Spectrometer for Mars (CRISM) instrument indicate that at least some martian recurring slope lineae (RSL) have spectral signatures consistent with the presence of hydrated perchlorates or chlorates during the seasons when RSL are most extensive. Despite the thermal emission spectrometer, Thermal Emission Imaging System, Observatoire pour la Minéralogie, l'Eau, les Glaces et l'Activité and CRISM detection of hundreds of anhydrous chloride (~10–25 vol%) deposits, expected associated oxychlorine phases (>5–10 vol%) have not been detected. Total Cl and oxychlorine data sets from the Phoenix Lander and the Mars Science Laboratory missions could be used to develop oxychlorine versus total Cl correlations, which may constrain oxychlorine concentrations at other locations on Mars by using total Cl determined by other missions (e.g. Viking, Pathfinder, MER and Odyssey). Development of microfluidic or ‘lab-on-a-chip’ instrumentation has the potential to be the next generation analytical capability used to identify and quantify individual oxychlorine species on future landed robotic missions to Mars.

Resumen
A free-fall baited camera lander was launched for the first time on the Cosmonaut Sea shelf of East Antarctica at a depth of 694 m during the 38th Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition (CHINARE) in 2022. We identified 31 unique taxa (23 were invertebrates and eight were fish) belonging to eight phyla from 2403 pictures and 40 videos. The Antarctic jonasfish (Notolepis coatsi) was the most frequently observed fish taxa. Ten species of vulnerable marine ecosystem (VME) taxa were observed, accounting for 32% of all species. The maximum number (MaxN) of Natatolana meridionalis individuals per image frame was ten, and they were attracted to the bait. The macrobenthic community type were sessile suspension feeders with associated fauna (SSFA), which was shaped by the muddy substrata with scattered rocks. Rocks served as the best habitats for sessile fauna. The study reveals the megafauna community and their habitat by image survey in the Cosmonaut Sea for the first time. It helped us obtain Antarctic biodiversity baselines and monitoring data for future ecosystem health assessment and better protection.

Resumen
The Mars Exploration Program Analysis Group has identified measurements of the state and the variability of the Martian atmosphere as high priority investigations for the upcoming years. Balloon-borne instruments could bridge the gap in both temporal and spatial resolution in mesoscale distances between local, stationary landers and global orbiter observations. The idea to use a balloon system for such a purpose is not new in essence and has been proposed already in past decades. While those concepts considered an aerial deployment during entry and descent, the concept outlined in this study revisits a launch off the payload deck of a lander from the Martian surface. This deployment option profits today mainly from the technological advance in micro-electronics and sensor miniaturization, which enables the design of a balloon-probe significantly smaller than earlier proposed systems. This paper presents the feasibility assessment for this instrument and gives further details on the scientific and operational concept, a strawman sensor suite, its system components and the associated size and budget estimates. It is complemented by the analysis scheme proposed to assess, manage and mitigate the deployment risk involved in automatically launching such a balloon-system off a planetary surface.

Resumen
ABSTRACT The seismic noise recorded by the Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy, and Heat Transport (InSight) seismometer (Seismic Experiment for Interior Structure [SEIS]) has a strong daily quasi-periodicity and numerous transient microevents, associated mostly with an active Martian environment with wind bursts, pressure drops, in addition to thermally induced lander and instrument cracks. That noise is far from the Earth’s microseismic noise. Quantifying the importance of nonstochasticity and identifying these microevents is mandatory for improving continuous data quality and noise analysis techniques, including autocorrelation. Cataloging these events has so far been made with specific algorithms and operator’s visual inspection. We investigate here the continuous data with an unsupervised deep-learning approach built on a deep scattering network. This leads to the successful detection and clustering of these microevents as well as better determination of daily cycles associated with changes in the intensity and color of the background noise. We first provide a description of our approach, and then present the learned clusters followed by a study of their origin and associated physical phenomena. We show that the clustering is robust over several Martian days, showing distinct types of glitches that repeat at a rate of several tens per sol with stable time differences. We show that the clustering and detection efficiency for pressure drops and glitches is comparable to or better than manual or targeted detection techniques proposed to date, noticeably with an unsupervised approach. Finally, we discuss the origin of other clusters found, especially glitch sequences with stable time offsets that might generate artifacts in autocorrelation analyses. We conclude with presenting the potential of unsupervised learning for long-term space mission operations, in particular, for geophysical and environmental observatories.

Resumen
The aim of the paper is to determine the ways of metaphorising land and its crops by inhabitants of the Kłobuck county associated with agriculture. The metaphor is understood according to the assumptions of the cognitive stream of linguistics, i.e. as a linguistic means of conceptualising reality, and not only as a stylistic means. The analyses are aimed not only at describing the lexical resources of the subjects, but above all at determining the forms of their thinking and acting. One hundred inhabitants of the Kłobuck county took part in the survey. A half of them were between 20 and 40 years old, while the other half were at least 65 years old. The research tool was an interview questionnaire consisting of four questions. The questions were open-ended in order to decode the metaphor of land and its crops. The research made it possible to draw unambiguous conclusions about the conceptual tendencies manifested by both groups of respondents.

Resumen
In fission yeast, the inverted repeatsIR-LandIR-Rfunction as boundary elements at the edges of a 20-kb silent heterochromatic domain where nucleosomes are methylated at histone H3K9. Each repeat contains a series of B-box motifs physically associated with the architectural TFIIIC complex and with other factors including the replication regulator Sap1 and the Rix1 complex (RIXC). We demonstrate here the activity of these repeats in heterochromatin formation and maintenance. Deletion of the entireIR-Rrepeat or, to a lesser degree, deletion of just the B boxes impaired the de novo establishment of the heterochromatic domain. Nucleation proceeded normally at the RNA interference (RNAi)-dependent elementcenHbut subsequent propagation to the rest of the region occurred at reduced rates in the mutants. Once established, heterochromatin was unstable in the mutants. These defects resulted in bistable populations of cells occupying alternate “on” and “off” epigenetic states. DeletingIR-Lin combination withIR-Rsynergistically tipped the balance toward the derepressed state, revealing a concerted action of the two boundaries at a distance. The nuclear rim protein Amo1 has been proposed to tether the mating-type region and its boundaries to the nuclear envelope, where Amo1 mutants displayed milder phenotypes than boundary mutants. Thus, the boundaries might facilitate heterochromatin propagation and maintenance in ways other than just through Amo1, perhaps by constraining a looped domain through pairing.

Resumen
Gorgonians play a fundamental role in the deep sea (below 200 m depth), composing three-dimensional habitats that are characterized by a high associated biodiversity and playing an important part in biogeochemical cycles. Here we describe the use of a benthic lander to monitoring polyps activity, used as a proxy of gorgonian feeding activity of three colonies of Placogorgia sp. Images cover a period of 22 days with a temporal resolution of 30 min. In addition, this seafloor observatory is instrumented with oceanographic sensors that allows continuous monitoring of the hydrographic conditions in the site. Deep-learning is used for automatic detection of the state of the polyps registered in the images. More than 1000 images of 3 large specimens of gorgonians are analyzed, annotating polyps as extended or retracted, using the semantic segmentation algorithm ConvNeXt. The segmentation results are used to describe the feeding patterns of this species. Placogorgia sp. shows a daily pattern of feeding conduct, depending on the hours of day and night. Using a Singular Spectrum Analysis approach, feeding activity is related to currents dynamics and Acoustic Doppler Current Profile (ADCP) return signal intensity, as proxy of suspended matter, achieving a linear correlation of 0.35 and 0.11 respectively. This is the first time that the behavior of the Placogorgia polyps, directly related to their feeding process, is described.

Resumen
Abstract Background: The causes of the rising incidence of early-onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC), defined as CRC in patients aged <50, remain unknown. In this study, we evaluated tumor genomic differences in patients with EOCRC versus late-onset CRC (LOCRC, age >60). Methods: The international cohort included 13,262 patients diagnosed with stages I-III colon or rectal cancer who had ctDNA testing using a personalized and tumor-informed multiplex PCR assay (Signatera™ 16-plex bespoke mPCR NGS assay), from which whole-exome sequencing (WES) on the surgically resected tumor was performed. Tumor mutational burden (TMB) and microsatellite instability (MSI) status were derived from WES analysis. The prevalence of gene-wide mutations, pathogenic gene variants, and mutations in known oncogenic pathways was compared between EOCRC and LOCRC groups, stratified by TMB and MSI status. Fisher’s exact test was used to test significance between the groups and p-values were adjusted using the FDR method for multiple test correction. Results: A total of 3,093 patients with EOCRC (70.8% colon, 27.4% rectal, 1.9% unknown) and 10,169 patients with LOCRC (79.9% colon, 18.3% rectal, 1.7% unknown) were included, where 9.0%/37.3%/53.7% were AJCC stages I, II, and III, respectively. Early-onset patients compared to late-onset patients had fewer cases of stage II CRC (30.7% vs. 39.3%, p<0.01) and more cases of stage III CRC (60.9% vs 51.6%, p<0.01). Adjusted by stage, patients with EOCRC were less likely to be MSI-H compared to patients with LOCRC (10% vs. 17%, p<0.01), or have high tumor mutational burden (TMB-H) (15% vs. 19%, p<0.01). Genes of the Hippo, NOTCH, WNT, and RTK-RAS oncogenic pathways were less commonly mutated in the EOCRC cohort (p<0.01). The BRAF V600E mutation was less prevalent in the EOCRC group (3% vs. 15%, p<0.01), regardless of TMB and MSI status. In the TMB-low/MSS group, TP53 mutations were more common in EOCRC (8% vs. 5%, p<0.01), but APC gene mutations were less common in EOCRC (56% vs. 66%, p<0.01). When comparing EOCRC and LOCRC in the TMB-H/MSI-H group, BRAF V600E (4% vs. 60%), RNF43 G659V (16% vs. 45%), and WNT1 G619A (6% vs. 20%) mutations were less prevalent in EOCRC (p<0.01 for all mutations); however, patients with EOCRC had more mutations in PIK3CA H1047R (22% vs. 9%), APC R1468* (11% vs. 3%), and KRAS A146T (7% vs. 2%) gene variants (p<0.01 for all mutations). In the TMB-H/MSS group, EOCRC patients were more likely to have driver mutations in the PI3K pathway (74% vs. 56%, p<0.01). Further, POLE P286R mutations were more common in TMB-H/MSS patients with EOCRC compared to LOCRC (38% vs. 13%, p<0.01), whereas ACVR2A K437R was less common (11% vs. 30%, p<0.01). Conclusion: Patients with LOCRC were more likely to have pathogenic gene variants and mutations in established pathways of CRC carcinogenesis. Tumors in EOCRC cases harbored unique genomic alterations that varied between the TMB-low/MSS, TMB-H/MSI-H, and TMB-H/MSS subpopulations. Citation Format: Eric M. Resumen
ElectraMetTM is on a mission to apply advanced carbon electrode technologies to deliver targeted solutions for sustainable water treatment while delivering superior performance and reliability to its customers. We are a venture-funded start-up based in Lexington, Kentucky from core technology developed at the University of Kentucky. Founded in 2014 after winning a local pitch competition, we have grown to more than 20 employees with a standalone manufacturing facility, which is a contrast from our start in a small lab-space at the University of Kentucky’s Advanced Science & Technology Commercialization Center (ASTeCC) incubator. Much of our success is owed to federal SBIR awards, state matching grants, and the Bluegrass Angels, without which, we would not have realized the growth we are at today. This summer, we closed a $6MM Series B financing round, led by HG Ventures, to meet the rising demand for sustainable industrial water treatment, accelerate corporate partnerships, and expand operations. Over the past 7 years, we have commercialized two product offerings, INCION® and ElectraMetTM, both based on patented carbon electrode technology. INCION® is an electrochemical device for water softening that employs the principles of inverted capacitive deionization (i-CDI), removing calcium and magnesium from water streams without the use of membranes, thus eliminating issues associated with scaling.1 , 2 ElectraMetTM is an electrochemical filter for targeted metals removal, with an initial focus on lead, chromium, and copper.3 Industrial applications range from electroplating to semiconductor manufacturing to mining. Figure 1 depicts the progression of our device design over time and Figure 2 shows representative data for copper removal from wastewater at an electroplating facility for over 1000 gallons treated. The path to commercialization has not been without its challenges, both technical and business facing. When it comes to scaling up any technology, there is a lot of work involved, and the process is not trivial. This is especially true for electrochemical systems, whose behavior is often dramatically affected by electrode spacing and localized kinetics. To better predict results in the field, we use equivalent process parameters to evaluate performance at the lab-scale (ie. flow rate, current efficiency, etc.), in conjunction with fundamental electrochemical studies (eg. chronoamperometry). These methods have provided a reasonable correlation between results obtained in the lab and at industrial sites. Through trial and error, as well as focused R&D projects, we have had to delve deep into materials selection, electrode design, electronics, controls, and pre-treatment options, among other things. In this presentation, we want to share our journey from idea to product, with the hope of providing insight into what it takes to succeed in commercializing an electrochemical device. Resumen
BackgroundDermatomyosis is an autoimmune disease that can present in children, adolescents (juvenile dermatomyosis JDM), and adults (adult dermatomyositis DM). The pathological hallmarks of DM are similar between JDM and adult DM, including skin rashes and proximal muscle weakness, however, the manifestations and prevalence of associated autoantibodies vary, depending on age of onset.Myositis specific antibodies (MSA) have been used as a prognostic tool to aid management of disease in both adult DM and JDM. In JDM, anti-TIF1γ is highly prevalent, and is the most common MSA in Caucasian patients. This MSA is associated with malignancy in adult DM [1]. We have previously shown that adult DM patients with cancer have significantly higher frequency and serological level of anti-TIF1γ IgG2 isotype [2]. However, there are limited data on anti-TIF1γ isotypes in JDM.ObjectivesTo investigate anti-TIF1γ isotypes as a potential biomarker for clinical manifestations in JDM.MethodsWe conducted a retrospective study to evaluate clinical features of anti-TIF1γ positive patients. This cohort includes 20 patients from French healthcare centres and 11 patients from the UK healthcare centres. Serum samples were first tested for anti-TIF1γ using either lineblot or immunoprecipitation. Within those with anti-TIF1γ antibodies, anti-TIF1γ isotypes including IgG1, IgG2, IgG3 and IgG4 were measured using a multiplex ALBIA assay developed by Aussy et al. (2019) [2].ResultsOut of 31 children, 54.8% (17) were Caucasian, followed by North African (25.8%, n=7), and other minority groups. Male to female ratio was 14/17. All 31 patients had IgG1 isotype, and 14 had more than one isotype of anti-TIF1γ antibody. Although IgG2 isotype of anti-TIF1γ has been shown to be a biomarker for malignancy and mortality in adult DM, there were no reports of malignancy in this paediatric cohort. In our JDM cohort, the rate of IgG2-positive was 25.8% (8/31) which is lower than observed in adult DM of 55% [2]. Two cases in this JDM cohort died: both were positive for IgG4, but both were negative for IgG2.Interestingly, there were significant differences regarding IgG2 isotype of anti-TIF1γ antibody presence between ethnic groups (p = 0.008). Specifically, although Caucasian patients were the majority, only 1 out of 8 IgG2 positive cases was Caucasian. Between Caucasian and non-Caucasian groups, significant differences were observed when comparing the groups’ means (p = 0.02) and variances (p = 0.01). Notably, 4/8 IgG2 positive were found in North African population, making up 44.4% (4/9) of this ethnic group. We also showed that anti-TIF1γ isotypes can change over time. Specifically, of 6 patients tested for anti-TIF1γ isotypes at a second time point, 4 cases had changes in serological levels of anti-TIF1γ isotypes: 2 had lower titer levels, 1 lost positive status for IgG2 and IgG3, and 1 gained positive status for IgG4.ConclusionOur study indicates that there may be a relationship between anti-TIF1γ IgG2 isotype and ethnicity. Importantly, although IgG2 is a biomarker for cancer in adult DM, it is not associated with severe onset or manifestations such as mortality or malignancy in JDM patients.References[1]Cordel N, Dechelotte B, Jouen F, Lamb JA, Chinoy H, New P, Vencovsky J, Mann H, Galindo-Feria AS, Dani L, Selva-O’Callaghan A, Werth VP, Ravishankar A, Landon-Cardinal O, Tressières B, Boyer O. Resumen
Abstract. High-resolution 3-D P and S wave crustal velocity and Poisson's ratio models of the 1992 Landers earthquake (Mw 7.3) area are determined iteratively by a wave-equation based traveltime seismic tomography (WETST) technique as developed in the first paper. The details of data selection, synthetic arrival-time determination, and trade-off analysis of damping and smoothing parameters are presented to show the performance of this new tomographic inversion method. A total of 78 523 P wave and 46 999 S wave high-quality arrival-time data from 2041 local earthquakes recorded by 275 stations during the period of 1992–2013 is used to obtain the final tomographic models which costs around 10 000 CPU h. Checkerboard resolution tests are conducted to verify the reliability of inversion results for the chosen seismic data and the wave-equation based traveltime seismic tomography method. Significant structural heterogeneities are revealed in the crust of the 1992 Lander earthquake area which may be closely related to the local seismic activities. Strong variations of velocity and Poisson's ratio exist in the source regions of the Landers and three other strong earthquakes in this area. Most seismicity occurs in areas with high-velocity and low Poisson's ratio, which may be associated with the seismogenic layer. Pronounced low-velocity anomalies revealed in the lower crust along the Elsinore, the San Jacinto and the San Andreas faults may reflect the existence of fluids in the lower crust. The recovery of these strong heterogeneous structures are facilitated by the use of full wave equation solvers and WETST and verifies their ability in generating high-resolution tomographic models.

Resumen
This article analyzes the land restitution process, which is characterized by a systematic phenomenon of patrimonial loss suffered by victims in their property subject to registration. All of this, due to the modalities used by both natural persons and legal entities, linked to the effects of dispossession, together with the various consequences that are generated by such virtue, such as in cases of forced displacement to cities in Colombia. In this sense, it is possible to notice that initially this aspect is reflected in the peasant victims of violence, which through a diaspora phenomenon extends to all types of social phenomenon. Likewise, it is intended to identify, if from the phenomenon, the legal instruments are sufficient to demonstrate the responsibility of both natural and legal persons that are associated with the phenomenon of dispossession.

Resumen
Summary Background: Excitement around the adoption of electronic communication between physicians and patients is tempered by the possibility of increased clinical and legal risk. If patients do not read messages in a timely fashion, duplicative communication efforts may be required and patient safety may be jeopardized. Objective: We sought to assess the prevalence and risk profile of unread messages in a mature patient portal. Methods: We analyzed six years of messages (2005–2010) from physicians to patients to determine the prevalence and associated characteristics of unread messages in a patient portal. We focused on clinical messages, and excluded announcements. Because some physicians sent clinical messages to groups of patients, we labeled messages sent to more than 5 patients as “outreach” messages and excluded them from general analyses. We performed a chart review of 75 clinical messages to assess for harm. Results: We found that 3% of clinical messages were unread after 21 days. Messages arriving outside of business hours were slightly more likely to go unread (RR 1.15 95% CI 1.11–1.19). Patients who were male (OR 1.14 CI 1.04–1.26) African American (OR 1.69 CI 1.29–2.22) or Hispanic (OR 1.74 CI 1.17–2.59), or in the lowest income group (OR 1.72 CI 1.19–2.49) were more likely to have unread messages. Chart review showed no evidence of harm, but 13% of sampled unread messages were associated with potential delays in care. Incidentally, we found 50% of the physician-initiated outreach messages were unread. Conclusions: Overall, secure messaging appears a safe form of communication, but systems to notify senders when messages are unread may have value. While most clinical messages were read, many outreach messages were not, providing caution for relying on such systems for information dissemination. Similar to other studies, differences by race and income were observed and require further study. Citation: Crotty BH, Mostaghimi A, O’Brien J, Bajracharya A, Safran C, Landon B. Resumen
Variations in the Martian surface temperature indicate patterns of surface energy exchange. The Martian surface temperature at a location is similar to those in adjacent locations; but, an understanding of temperature clusters in multiple locations will deepen our knowledge of planetary surface processes overall. The spatial coherence of the Martian surface temperature (ST) at different locations, the spatio-temporal variations in temperature clusters, and the relationships between ST and near-surface environmental factors, however, are not well understood. To fill this gap, we studied an area to the south of Utopia Planitia, the landing zone for the Tianwen-1 Mars Exploration mission. The spatial aggregation of three Martian ST indicators (STIs), including sol average temperature (SAT), sol temperature range (STR), and sol-to-sol temperature change (STC), were quantitatively evaluated using clustering analysis at the global and local scale. In addition, we also detected the spatio-temporal variations in relations between the STIs and seven potential driving factors, including thermal inertia, albedo, dust, elevation, slope, and zonal and meridional winds, across the study area during 81 to 111 sols in Martian years 29–32, based on a geographically and temporally weighted regression model (GTWR). We found that the SAT, STR, and STC were not randomly distributed over space but exhibited signs of significant spatial aggregation. Thermal inertia and dust made the greatest contribution to the fluctuation in STIs over time. The local surface temperature was likely affected by the slope, wind, and local circulation, especially in the area with a large slope and low thermal inertia. In addition, the sheltering effects of the mountains at the edge of the basin likely contributed to the spatial difference in SAT and STR. These results are a reminder that the spatio-temporal variation in the local driving factors associated with Martian surface temperature cannot be neglected. Our research contributes to the understanding of the surface environment that might compromise the survival and operations of the Tianwen-1 lander on the Martian surface.

Resumen
Abstract Chronic activation of inflammatory pathways and suppressed interferon signaling are hallmarks of myeloid cells in immunosuppressive tumors that drive poor responsiveness to conventional and immune therapies. Previous studies have identified agonistic activation of the CD11b integrin as a potential strategy to enhance anti-tumor immunity. However, the mechanisms by which CD11b-agonism reprogram tumor immunity are poorly understood, and this may impair patient selection and identification of effective treatment combinations. Here we will use a combination of in vitro systems, animal models, and samples from first in human clinical trials of the CD11b-agonist to identify the mechanism of action of this approach and identify combinations for further testing. CD11b agonism alters tumor-associated macrophage (TAM) phenotypes by simultaneously repressing NFκB/IL1-signaling and activating interferon (IFN) gene expression. Repression of NFκB/IL-1 signaling was due to rapid degradation of p65 protein by the proteosome, contributing to suppressing myeloid cells infiltration. In contrast, CD11b agonism triggers mitochondrial dysfunction to stimulate STING-induced, STAT1-mediated interferon signaling, contributing to macrophages-augmented anti-tumor T cell immunity. Tissues from phase I clinical trials shows that CD11b agonist activates STING and STAT1 signaling in TAMs in human tumors, which is in consistent with preclinical data. Furthermore, combining CD11b agonism with cytotoxic therapies, STING agonist or TLRs agonists leads to robust anti-tumor activity in PDAC models. These studies pave the way for mechanism-based therapeutic combination strategies in cancer patients. Resumen
The article analyzes the use of land resources of countries in the context of globalization. Investment-attractive regions have been identified, the socio-economic and political conditions of which contribute to the seizure of land by foreign investors. Sources of food security of countries with developed economies are substantiated. Peculiarities of formation of land and resource space of European neo-colonial countries are determined. One of the most important historical events in the political and socio-economic dimensions of the world was colonialism, associated with the development of capitalism. In the book, Eric Wolfe, "Europe and People Without History", describes in detail the global expansion of the borders of European states in order to control both human and natural resources, as well as to expand global development and promote Christianity. European colonialism became an early form of globalization that shaped most of the world's current political borders. In this way, technologies, food and ideas based on the colonial countries - Britain, Spain, France, Portugal and the Netherlands, etc. were transported. The main goal is to use the limited resources of the colony country and make a profit. This approach is called neocolonialism (corporate colonialism), just as classical European colonialism aims at the comprehensive exploitation of natural resources, labor, and markets for superprofits.

Resumen
Background: Patients worldwide use lancing devices to perform self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG). Continued innovation remains important to minimize pain associated with finger sticking to facilitate patient adherence to SMBG regimens. The original One Touch Delica lancer (OTD) reduced the pain of testing. This study investigated a completely re-engineered lancing system, called One Touch Delica Plus (OTDP), intended to further minimize pain while improving the patient experience. Methods: One hundred and three subjects (type 1 or 2 diabetes) experienced finger sticks with both lancing systems. Device depth and blood volume (BV) generation were determined during visit 1. These parameters were used during pain assessments in visit 2. Patient feedback was also recorded using surveys. Results: Finger-stick testing was less painful using OTDP compared to original OTD irrespective of whether 30 (−48.2 mm, −30.4 mm, P < 0.0001) or 33 gauge (−42.6 mm, 30.5 mm, P = 0.0004) lancets were used. All 103 subjects generated the required BV (≥0.4 µL) per protocol. At equivalent depth penetration, OTDP generated higher average BVs than OTD using 30 (1.58 µL, 1.10 µL) or 33 gauge lancets (1.39 µL, 0.98 µL). Subjects responded that testing with OTDP was virtually pain free (78%) and that testing with OTDP was less painful than using their current lancing systems (79%) or original OTD (67%). Conclusion: OTDP demonstrated lower pain than the original OTD lancing system and participants agreed that testing with OTDP was virtually pain free and less painful than using their current lancing systems.

Resumen
Small towns are defined as towns with the population not exceeding 15,000 (20,000) residents. They are organisms that can be embraced visually, mostly with the clearly demarcated area. Residents know their small town very well, the majority of buildings and structures is constructed at a reasonable scale and architectonic dominants allow easy orientation. Verdure in a small town is either a separate functional space (park, landscaped area, forest, scattered green vegetation) or it is associated with another function (residential green spaces, green spaces of housing estates, line verdure, verdure of self-retained areas – sports grounds, cemeteries, schools, etc.). The verdure of a small town is formed to make up a system. It may be realised but its functionality may be diminished by barriers of different type. Verdure significantly contributes to the image of a small town and its particular spaces. From the recreation aspect it is important to create near and easily accessible green spaces that may be used for the short- or long-time recreation of residents and visitors; the good connection of the urban verdure system with suburban landscape is desirable. To accentuate the basic landscape values and to realise the potential of the verdure system of a small town it is advisable to use the system of land-use planning while the landscape plan becomes its integral part.

Resumen
Abstract Turbulence in the Red Sea outflow plume in the western Gulf of Aden was observed with an upward-looking, five-beam, 600-kHz acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP). The “Bottom Lander” ADCP was deployed on the seafloor in two narrow, topographically confined outflow channels south of Bab el Mandeb for periods of 18–40 h at three locations at 376-, 496-, and 772-m depths. Two deployments were taken during the winter season of maximum outflow from the Red Sea and two in the summer season of minimum outflow. These short-term observations exhibit red velocity spectra with high-frequency fluctuations of typically a few centimeters per second RMS velocity during strong plume flow as well as strong subtidal variations. In one winter season event, the plume flow was reduced by a factor of 4 over an 18-h time span. In variance-preserving form, velocity spectra show a separation at frequencies of 0.3–3 cycles per hour between low-frequency and high-frequency signals. The latter show significant coherence between horizontal and vertical velocity components; hence they carried turbulent stress. Based on a comparison with velocity spectra from atmospheric mixed-layer observations, the authors argue that large variance at frequencies of the order of 1 cph was possibly associated with bottom-generated, upward-propagating internal waves. One coherent feature that matched such waves was observed directly. Higher frequencies correspond to turbulent motions of energy-carrying scales. The turbulent Reynolds stress at heights above the bottom between 4 and 30–40 m was computed for most of the ADCP observations. Near the bottom, the streamwise turbulent stress and the streamwise velocity followed a quadratic drag law with drag coefficients ranging from 0.002 to 0.008. There was also significant spanwise stress, hinting at the three-dimensional nature of the boundary layer flow. The time–height variations of the stress and its spectrum proved to be complex, one of its most striking features being angles of up to ∼40° between the direction of the stress and that of the low-frequency flow. The turbulent shear production and eddy viscosity were also examined. On the technical side, the paper discusses the role of the fifth, center-beam velocity measurements in correcting for instrument tilt along with the effect of beam spreading in the 30° Janus configuration of the “regular” four ADCP beams. Instrumental noise and detection limits for the stress are also established.

Resumen
We provide new support for habitable microenvironments in the near-subsurface of Mars, hosted in Fe- and Mg-rich rock units, and present a list of minerals that can serve as indicators of specific water–rock reactions in recent geologic paleohabitats for follow-on study. We modeled, using a thermodynamic basis without selective phase suppression, the reactions of published Martian meteorites and Jezero Crater igneous rock compositions and reasonable planetary waters (saline, alkaline waters) using Geochemist’s Workbench Ver. 12.0. Solid-phase inputs were meteorite compositions for ALH 77005, Nakhla, and Chassigny, and two rock units from the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover sites, Máaz and Séítah. Six plausible Martian groundwater types [NaClO4, Mg(ClO4)2, Ca(ClO4)2, Mg-Na2(ClO4)2, Ca-Na2(ClO4)2, Mg-Ca(ClO4)2] and a unique Mars soil-water analog solution (dilute saline solution) named “Rosy Red”, related to the Phoenix Lander mission, were the aqueous-phase inputs. Geophysical conditions were tuned to near-subsurface Mars (100 °C or 373.15 K, associated with residual heat from a magmatic system, impact event, or a concentration of radionuclides, and 101.3 kPa, similar to <10 m depth). Mineral products were dominated by phyllosilicates such as serpentine-group minerals in most reaction paths, but differed in some important indicator minerals. Modeled products varied in physicochemical properties (pH, Eh, conductivity), major ion activities, and related gas fugacities, with different ecological implications. The microbial habitability of pore spaces in subsurface groundwater percolation systems was interrogated at equilibrium in a thermodynamic framework, based on Gibbs Free Energy Minimization. Models run with the Chassigny meteorite produced the overall highest H2 fugacity. Models reliant on the Rosy Red soil-water analog produced the highest sustained CH4 fugacity (maximum values observed for reactant ALH 77005). In general, Chassigny meteorite protoliths produced the best yield regarding Gibbs Free Energy, from an astrobiological perspective. Occurrences of serpentine and saponite across models are key: these minerals have been observed using CRISM spectral data, and their formation via serpentinization would be consistent with geologically recent-past H2 and CH4 production and sustained energy sources for microbial life. We list index minerals to be used as diagnostic for paleo water–rock models that could have supported geologically recent-past microbial activity, and suggest their application as criteria for future astrobiology study-site selections.
