Resumen
Children from tribes are more burdened with adverse respiratory well-being outcomes versus other U.S. children. The objectives of this study were to identify stressors from the built and natural environments for tribal school-aged children. Outdoor air concentrations around U.S. tribal schools were linked to National Emission Inventories; ecoregions and National Land Cover Database; and American Community Survey and school map layers. Nine school sites (seven tribes, five U.S. states) were in three ecoregions: North American Deserts, Northern Forests, and Mediterranean California. Closest emission sources were oil, gas, airport, and manufacturing facilities. Maximum annual outdoor air concentrations were measured for toluene at two schools (29 ppb and 15 ppb, 2011), located four miles from a solid waste landfill and eight miles from paperboard/saw mills. Maximum annual concentrations of metals in particulate matter 10 micrometers and smaller were highest for manganese (68 ng/m3, 2011). Schools were in mainly arid and heavily forested lands. Closest emission sources were predominantly off tribal lands. Measurements were limited (<30/year). Compared to schools off tribal lands, schools on tribal lands were further away from roadway sources. Future research may examine outdoor air quality around schools with more developed land and indoor air for tribal children’s total exposure.

Decollectivization and the division of land have raised questions about whether a landed basis might reappear for a contemporary reformulation of patriliny in the Chinese countryside. This article addresses these questions by examining the processes through which formerly collective land has been divided and partially brought together again in informal, nameless co-operative groupings with an apparent patrilineal tinge.

Resumen
AbstractWhile digital games are used for health intervention, language training, and science learning, there are few instances of games being used to teach archaeology. This is a missed opportunity, as narratives of exploration and discovery make archaeology well suited to digital games. This article discusses Red Land/Black Land, a prototype Civilization V mod (modification of an existing game) that allows players to explore both the process of cultural change in ancient Egypt and the construction of archaeological knowledge about ancient Egypt. As a case study of scholarly game design, the article explores the project’s development. Included is a discussion of play mechanics, the merits and process of modding, and the resources required to build games in academic environments. The article also discusses preliminary efforts to test the game in an undergraduate classroom. Ultimately, the article argues that digital games are powerful tools for communicating archaeology. Instead of falling under the glamour of commercial games, however, scholars should adopt cost effective approaches to game design, looking to mobile play, alternate reality games, modding, and browser based games to realize their vision. The article also argues that the actual process of designing a game is an excellent tool to teach archaeology.

Resumen
Dorothy Drummond's book was born at the dawn of the third millennium, when the author was in Jerusalem. She had taken notes throughout hertravels in the Holy Land, which she defines not only as the land of historicPalestine, but also the lands of present-day Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, and Egypt (i.e., where the Patriarchs, Prophets, and the Holy Familyroamed). Rather than write a travelogue, she decided to write a book aboutthe Arab-Israeli conflict while interspersing her personal comments (initalics) about her journeys. Her intent is not to "answer the question posedin the title of this book. Rather, by shedding light on dark corners, itattempts to bring understanding," as she explains in the prologue. The book is divided into three parts: a discussion of the IsraeliPalestinianconflict in the present, a discussion of the roots of the conflicttraveling 4,000 years into the past, and a brief discussion of how negotiationis the only way to resolve the conflict. There are maps and pho tographsthroughout the book, as well as a 40-page glossary of the HolyLand's people and places. Drummond has written the work in the presenttense, because of the immediacy of all that has happened in the MiddleEast, but the discussion ultimately centers on the area between theMediterranean Sea and the Jordan River. Her book promises to be a good, balanced account written in a wonwonderfullyaccessible style. However, early on it runs into problems. Forexample, when she talks about the 1956 Israeli attack on Egypt, she fails ...

Resumen
The article is devoted to the differentiation of some notions in civil law, land law and public construction law of Russia such as soil, categories of lands, land parcel, zone of regulation and territory. The land parcel as a true object of civil law requires its being defined as 3-dimentional thing (res) with corporeal (physical) contents. It does not matter what these contents are — soil, water or mineral resources. Technical description of the land parcel as a 2-dimentional surface (without filling) is one of the method of its individualisation. All other notions — categories of lands, zone of regulation, territory — are the notions of public law. Using these public notions in the description of civil law objects should be eliminated.

Resumen
ABSTRACT: This article, which is part of the North–South Legal Mapping Project, considers land law and land use in each jurisdiction on the island of Ireland. The first part provides a sketch of the basic structures of land law, identifying a remarkable level of convergence (or, more accurately, absence of divergence), which is only partially qualified by recent comprehensive land law reform in Ireland, notwithstanding the absence of comparable reforms in Northern Ireland. The second part considers land use, where there is greater (and increasing) potential for divergence, particularly in environmental governance. The article sketches and explains core influencing factors that have shaped the evolution of environmental governance on the island to date, before considering how Brexit and subsequent developments impact regulatory alignment across the island. It focuses on the issue of water protection and river basin management, in light of the three transboundary river basins on the island.

Resumen
Human use of land has altered the structure and functioning of ecosystem. The most spatially and economically important human uses of land globally include cultivation in various forms; livestock grazing, settlement and construction, reserves and protected lands and timber extraction. The patterns of land use give us insight into the factors that have caused the land cover to change. A better understanding of the determining factors of land use changes is of crucial importance to the study of global environmental change. This paper theoretically strive to evaluate the contributions of government policies and programmes in transforming the various land uses in the urban centers of Ogun state with a view to provide better understanding among the stakeholders in real estate investment. The paper recommended that although landuse changes is an inevitable consequences in the developing nations, there is the need to consider the positive and negative aspect of the policies in order not to jeopardize the available environmental resources for sustainable development. The paper concluded by emphasized the need for government to carry the citizen along in the various policies and programs for even development.

Resumen
Among the countries of the world, Russia is one of the richest in agricultural land. However, a quantitative advantage is poorly transformed into a qualitative one. As a result, there has been a gradual decrease in productive land, a decline in crop yields, the use of highly productive lands as less valuable land categories, and land degradation. These negative processes cause severe damage to both the agricultural sector and the country's economy as a whole. One of the reasons for such drawbacks is the underdevelopment of land use processes and forms of land ownership, which discourage land productivity growth and rational use of agricultural lands. In this paper, the authors analyze the most critical challenges in the sphere of agricultural land distribution in Russia and suggest ways to improve the efficiency of land ownership and land use patterns.

Resumen
In the late 80s and early 90s, everyone realized the inefficiency of the centralized model of economic system, which led to an empty budget, public debts, and the collapse of the economy, which, in turn, caused the collapse of the country. The unwillingness to change the paradigm of centralized management of the economy to market economy with the minimum necessary state regulation in the interests of society forced revolutionary changes to be carried out within a timeframe that required a longer transition time from a planned economy to a market one. State support for land reform actually finished in 2000 with the abolition of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for Land Policy, the termination of the Federal Target Program "Development of Land Reform in the Russian Federation for 1999-2002" and the liquidation of the land service represented by 75 state survey institutes for land management (Giprozems of the RosNIizemproekt association) in 2000-2004. The continuation of spontaneous land transformations by the «invisible hand of the market» with the purchase of undervalued agricultural land by land speculators using these lands for their own purposes, the seizure of land shares of rural residents, the formation of hundreds of thousands and million hectares of land holdings, the widespread excessive use of soil fertility, uncompleted cadastre with disputed borders and a gray market for short-term leases of agricultural land moved to «land scarcity among land abundance». The paper contains these facts and proposes the measures to rationalize agricultural land use in our country.
