Texto completoIn the theoretical field of the socialisation of cognition, we studied links between early representational capacity (in an object manipulation task) and maternal verbal features (in her talking to the child) during another representational activity. Two different studies were led, one with different groups with a cross-sectionnal method, the other one with only one group of children with a follow-up method. We wanted to check if Sigel's Psychological Distancing Model could fit to early ages (11 to 21 months). (. . . )
Amoroso, Hélène. "Distances et distanciation dans l'oeuvre de Robert Pinget". Paris 3, 1995. http://www.theses.fr/1996PA030001.
Texto completoRobert pinget (formerly a memeber of the "nouveau roman" group) has tried through his work to prove that literature should not be a representation of the real, as it was in the xix century, but that a story should be like a textual composition fraught with multiple meanings also including a reflection upon writing. We are trying to see how the author rejects the traditional definition of the novel: first by presenting the geographical landscape of different works (dynamics of places and characters) through an intratextual perspective; then through a double (inter and meta) perspective, by studying the different techniques (taking distances from existing literary genres, using critical irony, etc) which help to construct a hydrid and original genre. We are going to prove that, though questioning the traditional novel forms, pinget does not completely refuse the past and indeed draws nearer to it in the course of this work

Texto completoIn modern autobiography, self-criticism is a contemporary form bridging various personal writings. The aim of this dissertation on the dynamics of literary self-criticism is to make clear the four main categories of "self-comment", by combining two types of self-critique functions and analysis levels through a corpus ranging from marcel proust to serge doubrovsky. The definition of such textual indicia is based on the concepts of metatextuality and intertextuality. The critical concepts of "explicit" and "implicit" provide the second axis used to recognize self-critique occurences. Consideration of the literary genre is a metatextual and explicit self-comment ; the use of biographical consent in autobiographic narratives is considered as a critical choice on the part of the writer develop in an explicit personal intertext. Its literary value is implicitly expressed in the text. So are referential affirmations or denials opposed to other texts, particulary when differing from the writer's own theories as expressed elsewhere. The different paratexts are thus considered as a self-critique extension of the text. The genre of the literary diary is treated more specifically throught its publication during the autor's life-time, as initiated in france by andre gide in 1939. This criterion allows us to delimit a critical biography of literary diaries published in france between 1939 and 1996. Having demonstrated the interest of self-critique as an introduction to textual analysis, this dissertation concludes with a study of the use of self-critique in literary criticism
Friha, Véronique. "Hervé Bazin : impressions de séduction à la lumière de la stylistique". Thesis, Metz, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011METZ004L/document.
Texto completo"Hervé Bazin, célèbre inconnu" was the eloquent title of the recent conference (2009) organized by A.S. Dufief in Angers. There exists a cruel paradox that has become unbearable, quite as unbearable as the fact that many teachers in schools and universities refrain from studying the works of an author whose birth we are about to commemorate. The subject of this study is to highlight the particularities of Hervé Bazin's literary style, in order to acknowledge the major though unfairly ignored writer he is. My close observation and analysis of his writings will reveal how the apparent simplicity of his style works towards a humanistic literary practise, coloured with restraint, humour and irony. Hervé Bazin's style is characterized by literary devices such as ekphrasis and parabasis and a first person narrator which all combine to allow the reader to reach a "pleasure of the text". At the end of my study, Bazin will appear a writer "apart", quite like Racine as delineated all along Jules Lemaître’s books

Texto completoThe problem of distancing is today considered by artists themselves to be one of the most important problems in the analysis of contemporary art. The direction that my artistic creation has taken could be defined as a nomade attitude which is based on distancing : an artistic representation based on the roles of ironic mediums. I attempt to describe a new type of contemporary art that produces an effect of distancing and that has already been used by several artists (such as the artists of arte povera, of pop art, of the italian trans-avant-garde, etc. ). The purpose of distancing is to provide myself with the ability to stand back from myself and to be able to acceed to a liberating distance from an individual point of view, this distance being characteristic of nomade thought. The reason for which the nomade spirit has interested me so much in this research is that it establishes a future and is not part of history. It is excluded from history but undergoes a metamorphosis and reappears in new and unexpected forms. The nomade spirit is characterised by the maintaining of distance and conforms to the disintegration of the social field. Distancing is characterised by the ability to put oneself in the place of the other and to see "through the other's eyes". One can only recognise the other if one recognises the other in oneself. This implies that in order to recognise a nomade subject, it is necessary to be a nomade oneself

Texto completoIn the context of an interdisciplinarity, this thesis analyses the socio-medical networks and the performance of communication within these networks. Following the precepts of constructivist epistemology, the observation of the scientific reality is not only based on the objective observance of the reality, but also on the experience-guided knowledge of the reality. We have thus realized an analysis throughout a longitudinal and prospective survey approach by questionnaires, within 161 breast cancer patients. In parallel, qualitative interviews were taken with 40 representatives of the health care staff.First of all, we want to highlight the communicational detachment between the health care providers and the patients by accentuating on the analysis of information handling, with the objective to help the patients to modify their dysfunctional schemas to functional schemas, via questionnaires. The analysis results from the quantitative and qualitative surveys realized during 14 months permitted us to set up a systemic approach within the health care establishment in the form of a project for a communicational portal between health care providers and patients. In fact, the prospective analyses revealed the importance of systemic theories which are themselves based on communication theories and circular causality models to be interested in the system in which the patient interacts
Sam, Jillet Sarah. "Place and caste identification| Distanciation and spatial imaginaries on a caste-based social network". Thesis, University of Maryland, College Park, 2014. http://pqdtopen.proquest.com/#viewpdf?dispub=3627672.
Texto completoThis thesis studies the potency of place in mobilizing social categories, and its implications for both social categories and places. I use the theory of distanciation to study associations between caste identity and place. I conducted an ethnographic study of a caste-based digital group, the Cyber Thiyyars of Malabar, to understand the connections and disconnections between the Thiyya caste and Malabar from the perspectives of different sets of actors involved in the identification of caste, namely the nation-state and members of this caste-based network. The nation-state knows the Thiyya caste in a manner that is disconnected from Malabar, while the Cyber Thiyyars of Malabar seek to re-emphasize the identification of this caste through the region. Participant observation and in-depth interviews indicate that through references to Malabar, the group seeks to establish a Thiyya caste identity that is distinct from the Ezhavas, a caste group within which the nation-state subsumes them.
I demonstrate that references to Malabar serve to counter the stigma that the Cyber Thiyyars of Malabar experience when the spatially abstract categorization of the Thiyyas interacts with notions of caste inferiority/superiority. Further, it serves as a mobilizational tool through which they hope to negotiate with the nation-state for greater access to affirmative action. I also demonstrate that caste identification continues to be relevant to the production of place. Place-based identification of the Thiyyas influences the manner in which the group envisions the physical boundaries of Malabar and how other social groups can belong to this region. Based on this analysis, I argue that framework of distanciation should incorporate not only the experience of place and social relations, but also how they are known and represented.
This dissertation establishes that even though social categories such as caste and place are not conventionally understood to be connected to each other, it is important to study the associations between them. Although the new media and globalization may prompt to us to think that place does not matter anymore, I establish that this caste group uses the language of place to organize and mobilize itself on a stronger basis in precisely this context.

Texto completoReorganizing Camus' work by keeping the notion of triptych dear to the writer, but also by integrating a journalistic dimension to theater and telling, adds viewpoints and makes it possible to find in newspaper articles the origine of literary writing. The tree styles complete each other in spite of stylistic divergences and the apparent conflict between testimony and distance : journalistic writings are engaged but sometimes neglect objectivity, whereas tellings and theater plays present an idealistic reality which makes up for Camus' disillusions with History. The confrontation of the three styles ends up in a certain unity which lies on the will to testify, even through silences and the distance Camus keeps from the world and from himself

Texto completoThis thesis questions the dialectic of laughter and the violence of history in the images and in the artworks of the 80s to today (especially). This study is based on analyzes of works organized around four axes : the body, the object, the idiocy, the dance. This work is based on four notions that are carnivalesque, witz, condensation and distanciation whose definitions come from the texts of Schlegel, Freud, Bakhtine, Brecht. Starting from the definition of violence inducing, among other things, the imposition of a norm or a framework, and considering the fact that of laughter can be perceived as the fragmentation of the frame, this work applies to see how the aesthetics of laughter interact with violence and resist it. It is also about analysing how the laughter brings to the work, some means of resisting to the sensationalist image and in which way laughter can arrange a distancing. Finally, this work tries to see how the aesthetics of laughter enrichs the perception and the reflection, but also art and life, of a vital elk, of breath, of strength that the arrangements, devices, maters express or translate

Texto completoThis study explores the theoretical and stylistic dimensions of lyricism in Saint-John Perse’s poetic work. In detail, it shows how his oeuvre comes within the scope of poetic modernity in a singular way, thanks to the synergy between lyricism and the idea of movement. This thesis approaches the paradoxical posture of the lyrical speaker’s identity, which is never fixed but, on the contrary, in continuous movement to differ from the biographical identity. Furthermore, this study shows that the lyrical discourse becomes dynamic through the diffraction of the lyrical speaker (at the origin of the polyphony in enunciation), followed by its reunification. Thus, this thesis analyses the cultural and philosophical bases of the poetics of movement that is characteristic of Saint-John Perse’s work. Moreover, it discusses the spatial dimension of the lyrical expression by a geopoetical approach. It finally studies the ties between the poetics of movement and the ways the lyrical speaker exists, it demonstrates the originality and singularity of Saint-John Perse’s oeuvre and shows the way it takes part in modern and contemporary issues

Texto completoThis thesis intends to examine the inevitably precarious stances that the writer Germano Almeida constantly seeks out within Cape Verdean society. Starting from the premise that by definition literary expression constitutes a reflection on its own existence within the fictional universe it creates, this study intends, first, to illustrate how Germano Almeida, through his scenography, manages to position his work both within the power structure and on the literary scene of Cape Verde. The first part of the analysis focuses on the special relationship between literature and politics in both colonial and post-colonial society, the inclusion of humor and irony in scholarly literature, the conflict that arises between a well-established oral tradition and actual writing with the latter playing a singular role within a highly differentiated bilingual society. Lastly, the gap between the expected and the real reactions to Almeida’s work is examined. The second part of the analysis illustrates Germano Almeida’s desire to participate actively in shaping Cape Verdean society. If Almeida’s first fictions systematically deconstruct traditional representations of a rural and cohesive Creole society, more recent works definitely depict the traits of a primarily urban society that is forced to constantly deal with contingencies. The third part of this study highlights Almeida’s constant desire to place the diversity of Creole experiences on a time continuum that not only gives meaning to the past but also provides greater command of the future and the possibility to thus avoid the danger of grotesquely repeating history. In the end, the study of these time-space configurations makes it obvious that their author sees himself not only as a full member of Cape Verdean society but also as an objective, and therefore, informed observer

Texto completoThis research explores the emerging conditions and the successful scholastic results of those covered by the Protection for Children, through an approach grouping social and relational position and dynamics, and individual mobilisation. It took place in two sectors of the social action in the Ain department and concerned two phases of field work. The first one, quantitative, was achieved with a questionnaire for adults (the welcoming committee, social workers and teachers) in charge of the 229 youths in these 2 zones and consisted of a recording of facts relevant to their experience of placement, scholarity, specifications and their possible links or ties with their birth family. The second one, qualitative, resulted from meetings with those who appeared to be in academic achievement through the questionnaires (N=83). Thus, we were able to record interviews with 39 adolescents combined with those of 7 adults, themselves "ex-children of the Ddass". The contents of these meetings were analysed using the Chartier Method (a code of information units), in addition to an extensive amount of literal work about the used strategies. The results of the quantitative analysis confirm the traditional foundations of scholastic adaptation and, in particular, the socio-cultural impact of the family. In addition, it brings out the resources which the adolescents specifically use in their unexpected course as well as the anchorages and supports they may experience. These meetings allow us to define both these opportunities. Moreover, this shows in a particularly specific way the personality of the adolescent with successful scholastic results, shown by a strong determination, an increased maturity, an aptitude for positive thinking about his/her life, with a confident outlook to the future, the role of the close environment, looked after by a certain number of influential figures and the ability to distant himself/herself from events or people likely to hinder his/her progress. These specific features shape and form processes and experiences of resilience, where certain weaknesses are present - their motivations are varied, not all results are excellent as their past regularly reappears in their lives - but which above all bring into play learning and knowledge as sources of perspectives and as mediators to express and realise their reconstruction

Texto completoThe Gypsies or “Gens du Voyage” (travellers), taking the unsuitable designation used by the authorities, indicates several small groups of different traditions, religions and histories which gathering about 400 000 persons in France. Although living on the territory since several centuries and even if most of them having the French nationality, the Gypsies are confronted to a high social reject and remain considered as second-rate citizens, difficult groups who need to be controlled or assimilated. The prejudices and stereotypes about the gypsies' populations are often the origin of the stigmatisation and the difficult relations that they carry with the society. In the same time, the politic project of “republican universalism”, which is concretely translated in laws and institutional rules, makes difficult the acceptance and the adapted taking into account of the gypsies' way of life, that we refer to their housing (many are them live in caravan), their jobs or their family and education practices. Nevertheless, the groups of Gypsies, in permanent interaction with the surrounding world, try on a daily bases to resist against the economic and assimilationist pressures of the society which daily affect their cultural dynamism. The family organisation, as the distance process with the non-Gypsies, contribute to hold their socio-economic autonomy on and favour their adaptation at the external pressures. Finally, those populations don't content themselves with being under the influence of the evolutions of the contemporary world. They take part of it, react to it and stick permanently to give a specific sense to the things which they consider as belonging to the world of the non-Gypsies appropriating them according to their own modalities

Texto completoIn France, since early 2000s spreads a literature inviting professionals in contact with people suffering from Alzheimer disease to "personalize" the way they take care of them. This term refers to a humanization that seems to fade away in this particular context. What is asked to medical and paramedical staff, is a true and authentic commitment toward these patients. What is aimed, is a control of emotions and the way they are expressed. This Ph.D explores the way in which "personalization" is practically accomplished in the context of Alzheimer’s Special Care Units. Based on interviews and observations, it shows the banality of "commitment", and also the complexity of it’s execution. From the ethics of care perspective, an invisible work makes life possible for every protagonist living in that kind of environment. This cleverness of the situation drives away the danger of reification, and prevents burnout.Far from the chimerical "professional distance", this field work shows an articulation between commitment and detachment (Elias, 1956). Emotions appears to be a necessity in order to carry out the tasks, but also a danger that requires to be put away. Thus, Alzheimer’s units are characterized by the relative importance of autonomous regulation, in comparison with control regulation (Reynaud, 2004) : formalization process struggle due to the elusive and local nature of the ethics of care

Texto completoBorrel, Pascale. "Neutre". Paris 1, 1996. http://www.theses.fr/1996PA010598.
Texto completoThis work seeks to define what the makings of a neutral attitude might be within the context of an artistic practice. The particular nature of this research is tied in with the fact that neutral(ity) is a difficult state to define : the work neutral designates an interval created by two opposing and complementary states. Within the context of an artistic practice, if one calls upon the word neutral to qualify the attitude displayed by a work, this is to indicate that an absence of implication, a withdrawal of the author, as well as a tension between an act and a type of reserve or passivity is perceptible in the work itself. The work doesn't provide a definition of what a neutral attitude is. Rather, the work neutral provides an approach to a variety of processes which demonstrate a withdrawal of the author and the ambiguities which result from them. The word neutral enables one to consider artistic work as an experience of which one of the end results is the transformation of "the self" involved in the production. It is therefore a matter of examining by what methods the author is affected by the experience undertaken, in what way he tends towards a state other than that of "the self", namely an impersonal, immaterial self. Visual as well as textual work constitute two approaches to an artistic production where is a clear separation between the artist and his work ; where throughout, the author takes on the role of an executant, a machine ; or lastly, where the work may grow out of the author's passivity, inactivity. The work neutral is a tool : it is used to envisage a work of creation (ambiguous, paradoxal), it is used to question the notion of author, of creator

Texto completoDepersonalization is a disorder within the self. Subjects suffering from this disorder feel that life is a dream or an illusion, whilst being aware of a time when they felt they were more grounded in reality. Their bodily sensations and perception of the outside world are severely altered (derealization). This loss of sense can cause depression and general apathy. As the subject no longer feels grounded in reality, they tend to become withdrawn. There is currently no agreement as to the symptoms of depersonalization, for which different authors have quite different tables, allowing extremely diverse theories to be put forward. Depersonalization is variously described as a symptom, a syndrome, or a defence mechanism in a large number of disorders, and it can be observed in all structures. Following foreclosure of the Name-of-the-Father or as a result of trauma, its transnosographic dimension suggests that it is closely linked to the structure of the subject itself. From the “uncanny” (unheimlich) described by Freud to Lacan’s “extimacy”, depersonalization emphasises the issue of identity and highlights its structural nature

Texto completoThere would be constant interaction between comic theater, mask, and power that we examine through a comparative and intertextual reading of French francophone, and egyptian plays from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries; focusing on the techniques of camouflage and their targets, which affirm continuity between cultures. We show that “distanciation”, although attached to the serious world of Brechtian dramaturgy, excels in the comic theater of the mask. This project comprises of three parts. In the first chapter of the initial part, we review the metamorphoses of the mask with its processes, by matching comic theater and concept of power. Then we put in a second chapter ,the theoretical basis and methodology, used as the basis for our study; addressing the theater of the mask as a dramatic process of “distanciation”. Firstly we examine the distance through the zones of the text (stage directions, prologue, & embedded shows), where the theater is presented alike. We devote the second part to the exploration of all the processes employed by the playwrights, in order to distance the character wearing the mask of power, highlighting its comic and carnivalesque aspects. The travesty in its various facets imposes a balance of power (relationship of power) between the characters. Which is manifested through verbal and non verbal exchange behind the mask ,space, and time which are vectors of distanciation (as seen in the third part). The spatio-temporal framework, being the holder of a game of make-believe, rooted the relationship of domination caused by the mask. The fictitious emerges an image of reality

Texto completoThe Minjok-guk is a genre of popular Korean play or theatrical intervention, the esthetics of which have, from the 1970s until today, been based on popular folk traditions, but which also show a surprising commonality with those of Brechtian Theater. Both theater genres are derived from a non-Aristotelian tradition, share open dramatic structures, make direct reference to social issues, have interactive/participating roles for the narrator and musicians, deny the ‘fourth wall’, and are characterized by the non-identification of the audience with the characters on stage. Thus, this research seeks to identify the true source behind the Korean conception of popular theater and the alienating effects present therein. It also seeks to analyze the role that the spectators play in the production, elements of which reveal fundamental differences between eastern theater, heir to certain traditional forms, as compared to western drama’s realism with its roots emanating from an entirely different cultural heritage

Texto completoAt the end of the 19th century, the theatrical avant-garde across Europe showed a striking interest for puppets. They used puppets – till then marginalized in the official theatre and associated with disappearing traditions – as an aesthetic model up to the end of the 1930s. The ‘puppet model’ was applied to all domains of theatrical art : theory, dramaturgy, stage direction. In studying this model and its roots in three neighbouring countries (Belgium, Spain and France) in which the conditions of theatrical life were significantly different, this dissertation explains the eruption of the puppet in the sphere of high theatre through its critical and experimental uses. The theatrical study of these texts, combined with an analysis of the theoretical writings (including reviews in the period press) and stage direction shows how the puppet is constructed as the critical consciousness of the official theatre, especially the ‘bourgeois’ theatre, at the end of the 19th century. Moreover, this work reveals how this polemical energy explored fundamental territories of the modern stage in advance : meta-theatricality, parody, defamiliarization, artistic fusion, as well as the quest for a popular and political theatre

Texto completoTeaching the distanciation that leads to understanding and enjoying the text: such is the purpose of this didactics of literary reading. Based on the study of complex texts, it uses literature as a priviliged tool to teach the students how to read a text. The origins of this research lie in the difficulties met by the secondary school students in the complex tensions between the reader and the text that characterise literary reading. Many of these difficulties are due to the phenomenon of referential illusion and its corollary, a discursive tendancy to the rationalisation of the text. In order to enable the students to approach the text critically, two techniques are developed here : the teaching of questioning and the resort to activities which force the reader to consider the scriptural dimension of the text. But the teaching of distanciation also includes the studies of the phenomenons which require distanciation in the appreciation of the meaning of the text : irony is one of them. Therefore a didacdics of ironical texts is identified as a privileged means to reach controlled distanciation
Ferrier, Nicolas. "Situations avec spectateurs : recherches sur la notion de situation". Thesis, Paris 4, 2009. http://www.theses.fr/2009PA040183.
Texto completoThis study first began by examining the situation of passive subjects faced with the gradual escalation of merchandising in the contemporary world, and then the way they were able to react against this trend. We chose to link this problematic to the analysis of “the construction of situations”, which was the Situationists’ response to Guy Debord’s famous theory of “the society of the spectacle”. Here we discovered the significant influence of the theatre, most notably in the appropriation of concepts of “alienation” (borrowed from Brecht), of “classical theatre” and of “acting”. From this point on, the piece of research engaged with a genealogy of the concept of “situation” by next addressing “dramatic situation”. Dramatic situation would prove to connect different characters, actors and spectators in both fiction and reality. Examining these relations served to open a third section to the project on the “existential situation”. This was informed by the concept of “limit-situations” in Karl Jaspers, as referred to by one of the most important theorists of in the field, Etienne Souriau. In spite of their differences, a common goal unites the Situationists when seeking to discern the role of theatre in the philosophy of existence, as described by Karl Jaspers. Every one of them aims to grasp situations in their capacity to emancipate alienated subjects

Texto completoStudy about distance in C. Bille's short stories : strangeness, objectivity, receding of the reality. A first part shows the sensorial and dynamic elements which are used to describe landscape fragments, nature becomes character while the human characters seem elusive through a distant and puzzling narrating. Secondly are studied separation, failure of words and lack of communication that characterise the human relations. By doubting the utility of the words, C. Bille takes part in the poetical thought of her time. The third part deals with her lucid society panorama, even if she feels both fascination and repulsion toward it. She writes to keep painful reality at a distance, uses literary creation as an exorcism. The last part shows how the late short stories are distanced from reality and rationality. By exploiting her dreams, the themes of childhood and madness and a fantastic writing, C. Bille gives an original world's perception and breaks free from a regional writer's image

Texto completoThis research is anchored in a socio-didactic approach and focuses on the levers and barriers to setting in motion processes in which students from the University of Nantes cultivate (inter)cultural awareness within the framework of a preparation for study abroad. The setting for this research is the program implemented for Less Widely Used and Less Taught (LWULT) languages within the framework of the LWULT Project set up by the International Relations Department of the University of Nantes. A 3-year (2011/2012- 2013/2014) longitudinal study was conducted on a synchronous and asynchronous tele-collaborative teaching/learning program for Polish, Turkish, Finnish in partnership with State Higher Vocational School in Tarnow (Poland), Galatasaray University (Turkey), and the University of Turku (Finland). Taking into account research findings in Applied Linguistics, Sociology and Social Psychology, this doctoral research has allowed to 1) determine a learner profile which is favorable to cultivating cultural intelligence, 2) show the determining role of learner communities in the process of cultivating cultural intelligence and 3) develop a model of analysis of interactions which are likely to support the aforementioned process

Texto completoAnalysis of emergence of medias and consequences of their social uses have been most often seen onto "mass-media" side. But there are many social places, like associations and settlements in which can be built strategic and alternatives ways of cultural, politic or economic use and appropriation. This thesis is at the cross of the field of associations and field of medias in order to obtain a "socialisation" of electronic medias. It studies some projects and programs based on audio-visual and computers and shows which axis, which strategies it is possible to gave to people some ways to take consciousness and to react upon the one dimensional means of social lifes. Double function of creation and communication of media are crossed with double distanciation (critic and dialectic). Their theoric analysis is based onto a bipolar modelisation, with a first mediatic bipole (function of creation and function of communication) and a second perceptive bipole (immanent auto-distanciation identification-projection-transfer or iad ipt). Mediatic distanciation makes an connection of these two concepts and modelisations. It is illustrated by ground studies developed into research of iad ipt profiles of people and iad ipt potentials of media. Mediatic distanciation is based of examples from the associations. Culture and communication institutions, national education ministry. They try to bring out "social utility", into an ambition of praxis. Audio-visual media (mass-media or self-media), informatic and computers uses and telematic are studied with programs like "informatique pour tous" (1985) and with partners like "agence de l'informatique", x2000 centres, associations of youth, micro-computers or audio-visual clubs, syndicates or political parties. Conclusion awakes onto concepts of social integrator and social distanciator

Texto completoDeparting from the idea of the space and distance of Duras' work, we have described the work as an space in expansion where the outburst of temporality is replaced by the elaboration of a continuum narrative and where the evaluation of the distances represented, the space distribution of the action are constantly transferred by the movements of the “characters”. The pace of the issue represents thus the process of the creation that it places at the heart of the narration issues. The studies of the ideology (norms and values), which are distanced by the ironic enunciation, has led us to demonstrate the importance of the emptiness in the work: a fundamental ellipsis in the heart of beings, the origin of the desire, of fear but also the origin of creation. Finally, through the studies of the inter-textual detachment phenomena linked to the re-writing and exploration of genres (cinema, theater. . . ) we have analyzed the process of creation, the experience of a life and the narration of this experience as a relation of the subject

To explain the arrival in the History of the professionalcomedian, the study gets organized according to a historic panorama of the identity of thecomedian since Antiquity to the Middle Ages, at the time of the disappearance of the mysteryand the closure of the Brotherhood of the Passion and the Resurrection of our Lord Jésus-Christ, proving the advance of the comedian. Then, the redefining of the genre in which willjoin the form of the play within the play will allow to notice the passage of the religiousidentity in the professional identity of the comedian with the rehabilitation of the genre of thecomedy for a long time ecclipsé in the History. The statement of comedians’figures ofdifferent social backgrounds, craftsmen, traders, noble persons, comedians of fair, Italiancomedians, will allow to determine the profile of the french comedian, its professional andsocial identity. Texto completoBoris Vian's literary work calls to mind by the feelings it arouses. For a long time it nevertheless remained unknown concealed by its author's protean talents. Boris Vian, whose texts were mostly published posthumously, wasn't at the beginning seen as a writer to finally get in the Pléiade in 2010, 51 years after his death. To analyse his work it appears natural to consider the idea of fantasy. The fictional world he created remains a fantasist one where imagination and inventiveness prevail. Yet, opposing worlds get mixed up: fairy and cruelty, casualness and anxiety, indifference and seriousness, fantasy and reality. Considering only the fictional texts in prose (novels, short stories and plays) we questionned the legitimity of the fantasy notion. Does its obviousness withstand a further analysis? This questioning drove us to the idea of 'fantaisie noire'. Sometimes magical, incredible, linguistic, comical or parodic, the fantasy collides with the inwardness of the characters and with an anxiety that contaminates both beings and objects. The fantasy defers to an oppresive world where the dream reveals itself in all its power. The come back to fantasy is then only possible by comical detachments and a linguistic inventiveness that contributes to let the work opened

In the present study, I test the different functional hypotheses relative to the regulation of vigilance activity with group size, and I propose a new mechanism that could generate this regulation. Then, I analyse the fusion-fission dynamics of groups in order to understand the mechanisms underlying the formation of large groups in open environment. The present work comes within the scope of a mechanistic approach whose purposes are (1) to explain what it is observed at a global scale by quantifying the processes at work at a local scale, and (2) to check the relevance of these processes using dynamical models. Texto completoThis study examines the impact of cyberlanguage, induced by the development of InfoCom technologies, on mediated communication situations, up to the ritualization of interactions on socio-technical devices. This work mobilizes a theoretical and methodological pluralism, a quantitative and typological approach. It relies on a native digital data field on an online discussion forum, in the field of reality show. In support of the concepts of language, reduction of uncertainty, cyber-language, device, community, network, rites and rituals, and the theories of conversation, social bond, ritual bond, "intentional posture" and online interaction rites, an exploratory study identifies elaborate and creative writing processes and establishes an enriched typology of cyberlanguage markers. In a survey, the confrontation of uses with representations makes it possible to understand the perception of the cyberlanguage by Internet users. In the micro-communities identified by the interactions measurements, the presence of interactors, the weight and concentration of cyberlanguage markers and the polarity of the interactional discourse, the study of ritual situations makes it possible to identify a typology of associated interaction rituals to certain cyberlanguage markers and to correlate the pacification potential of the cyberlanguage with the intentional distancing and compensation of the interactors, in a dynamics of coconstruction for the maintenance of the social bond

Texto completoPsychological distance is pervasive in the consumer’s mind and impacts their attitude and behavior toward hedonic products. However, the literature is inconsistent regarding the direction of the effects of psychological distance on consumer’s responses toward hedonic products. In fact, one part of the research suggests that increasing psychological distance positively impacts consumer’s responses toward hedonic products. Whereas another part of the literature proposes the opposite effect. The aim of this research is to reconcile this inconsistency by examining under which conditions psychological distance can have positive or negative effect. We suggest that the degree of prominence of need to justify (non-salient vs salient), which a consumer experiments during the evaluation of hedonic products, moderates the effect of psychological distance and constitutes the condition under which psychological distance can have a positive or a negative impact on consumer’s responses toward hedonic products. In order to test our research hypotheses, we carried out three experiments. The first two experiments show that in the condition of a non-salient need to justify, the increase of psychological distance has a negative impact on consumer’s responses toward hedonic products. The third experiment suggests that in the condition of a salient need to justify, the increase of psychological distance has a positive impact on consumer’s response toward hedonic products
Bohorquez, Carlos Eduardo. "Paul Ricoeur's Hermeneutic Detours and Distanciations: A Study of the Hermeneutics of Hans-Georg Gadamer and Paul Ricoeur". Thesis, Boston College, 2010. http://hdl.handle.net/2345/1389.
Texto completoHans-Georg Gadamer and Paul Ricoeur have each proposed remarkably similar hermeneutic approaches to the interpretation of texts. They both approach hermeneutics starting from particular insights in Husserl's and Heidegger's respective phenomenologies. They both are wary of the claims of the need for objectivity to provide adequate interpretations of texts. They both turn to Plato and Aristotle to provide models and insights for the interpretation of texts. Gadamer and Ricoeur both devote considerable attention to the critique of prior significant figures in hermeneutics. They both utilize and exploit the difference between the structures and elements of a language and the actual use and expressions made in that language for the purpose of explaining how meaning is created. For all their similarities, there are differences between the hermeneutic approaches and theories of Gadamer and Ricoeur. One significant difference between the two is the attitude that each thinker takes toward tradition or dogma. Gadamer approaches prior interpretive contexts, i.e., tradition, in a manner that privileges their capacity to provide viewpoints to adequately and effectively interpret texts. Ricoeur, on the other hand, eyes tradition more critically. His research into many of the human sciences and their methodological and philosophical foundations leads to a greater awareness and acceptance of the possible deceptive and misleading capacities of tradition. This difference in attitude toward tradition expresses itself clearly in another difference between the two thinkers. Gadamer, unlike Ricoeur, is unwilling to accept the inclusion of methodologies and insights of the human sciences within the purview of hermeneutics. Gadamer argues that such an inclusion would be anathema to the hermeneutic and philosophical project. Ricoeur, on the other hand, argues that the inclusion of these insights leads to a broadening of hermeneutic resources and to the continued relevance of hermeneutics to the philosophical project. The inclusion of the insights of the human sciences within hermeneutics also points to another significant difference between Gadamer and Ricoeur. Ricoeur argues that the determination of the meaning of a text must always be achieved through a detour to a viewpoint that lies outside the text. There must be some distance between the text and interpreter if the interpreter is to provide an adequate interpretation. Ricoeur recognizes that this demand would seem to place him in the camp of those hermeneutists who demand objectivity for acceptable interpretation. Ricoeur provides a convincing defense against this charge. Gadamer, on the other hand, argues that any move outside of that of the text serves to impose an interpretation upon it that is not sensitive or authentic to it. For Gadamer, recourse to an interpretive viewpoint outside of the text is merely a capitulation to the methodologies of control and domination of positivism and scientism. In this dissertation I explore the similarities and differences among the theories of Gadamer and Ricoeur. I explore the similarities and differences that some commentators of Gadamer and Ricoeur have found. I provide a detailed examination of Gadamer's pivotal work Truth and Method. I consider Gadamer's assessments of prior hermeneutical figures, like Schleiermacher and Dilthey, and Gadamer's proposals for an alternative approach to hermeneutical interpretation. I also examine two of Ricoeur's significant works: The Conflict of Interpretations and Time and Narrative. In a short, but dense, article Ricoeur speaks directly to what he perceives to be the difference between his work and that of Gadamer and Habermas. Through the analysis of these three works, I hope to demonstrate how Ricoeur's hermeneutical theory is both similar to and different from Gadamer's. I argue that Ricoeur's hermeneutics provides resources to address some of the weaknesses present in Gadamer's thought, particularly Gadamer's assessment of the reliability of tradition for the interpretation of texts

Johan, Virginie. "Du je au jeu de l’acteur : ethnoscénologie du Kutiyattam, théâtre épique indien". Thesis, Paris 3, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014PA030049.
Texto completoKutiyattam of Kerala is an epic theatre that interweaves drama and narrative, characterized by an acting technique wherein the performance of the central actor makes constant recourse to a distancing effect. This hypothesis – esthetic in nature while "epic" refers to Brecht – is demonstrated through a multidisciplinary, ethnoscenogical approach. Everything begins with a so-called "first performance" in which a child plays at being an Actor-character, and then becomes a storyteller. This ceremonial, which serves as a common thread throughout our study, contains "everything", i.e. all of the foundations and ingredients of the epic esthetic, which we go on to explain using the example of the Ramayana – one of the numerous ancient Sanskrit texts that Kutiyattam brings to the stage. Book I first proposes an ethnography of the Cakyar-masters of Kutiyattam (first part), emphasizing their unique skills. It then analyses the training that underpin the codification of the actor’s body, demonstrating the challenge of being an actor in itself, before even assuming a character/persona (second part). Book II is dedicated to the performances. It begins by examining the texts (third part) of the five Ramayana cycles that are performed in the temples: five acts in Sanskrit into which are interwoven narratives in Malayalam, written in performers’ acting manuals. Taken together, these texts form a unified repertoire characterised by iterative embedded structures that interlock the principles of stop-in-time, change in point of view and flash-back. The acting (fourth part) enhances this dramaturgy. The performer who has multiple functions – character, storyteller, dancer, and director – juggles these principles, especially when he enters into the "substitution" process, a role-play that engenders striking effects of simultaneity. The annexes (Book III) contain the additional analyses (annex I) and the texts (annex II) and audiovisual materials (3 DVD-DLs with booklets) related to the performances. The thesis itself, including the montage of the films, is structured in such a way that it reflects the dramaturgy of Kutiyattam, and notably its use of stop-in-time. Texto completoThe way musicians identify notes has always been a fascinating subject. In order to understand this competence of theirs, we have opted to interview professional and learner musicians so as to analyse the mental methods they use to fulfil this task. A detailed description of the faintest mental processes involved in so doing opens on a bewildering world which exposes an organisation of many low level actions as adapted to their functions as they are subtle. These fragments of thoughts - which we have called mental anchor points - can be described, are varied in their ways of surfacing and can engage in diverse mission types. When subjected to closer scrutiny, we can imagine that these highly specialised mechanisms fall within the sphere of general functional principles which seem to be active at every moment of our lives, for whichever operation we try to perform: calculating, taking part in sports activities, cooking or simply thinking. This is what the second part of this study first tries to show, before disclosing a strange system of issues concerning interactive relations between perceptions and representations. Many testimonies mention situations in which mental anchor points play a prominent part in our perceptive behaviour. The confrontation of these two universes, thanks to the use of what we have called mental reprojections, makes it possible for us to examine the machinery at stake in our cognitive constructions and to analyse the consequences they imply concerning our comprehension of the real world

Texto completoThis thesis studies end analyses the stage setting process in Klaus Michael Grüber’s work, demonstrating in the case studied that stage directing is a genuine artistic practice, unique and innovative, and little studied as such to this day within the field of visual arts and more generally within the field of contemporary art. Based on the analysis of the relationship betwenn the pictorial movement of Narrative Figuration and those of painters who worked with Klaus Michael Grübers — such as Gilles Aillaud, Eduardo Arroyo et Antonio Recalcati — the autor shows that, in Denis Balet’s terms, a scenic revolution has been accomplished in the mere conception of theatrical location, wich opens beyond the binary oppositions between texte and image, Figure and Speech, onto a « theater of the eye » (Jean Jourdheuil). Among the cases studied, one has been very closely examined and analysed : it is the staging and directing of Hölderlin’s novel (Hyperion or the Greek Hermit) entitled Winterreise in Olympiastadion and performed in Berlin in 1977. This thesis is a contribution to the search for a methodology and a conceptual network enabling one to better understand how Klaus Michael Grüber’s work as a stage director opens theatre to a new way of considering the Visible, wich was what Merleau-Ponty called for in L’Œil et l’Esprit. The thesis also includes an important critical review of the notion of « show » and puts a particular emphasis on the notion of scenic location, the irreducibility to any spectacularization of wich is problematized as a basis for the theatrical work itself
Crombet, Hélène. "L'expérience d'oscillation identitaire dans des dispositifs lectoriels". Thesis, Bordeaux 3, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015BOR30046.
Texto completoMy thesis deals with “the experience of identity fluctuations in reading devices“ : from a pragmatic and interactionist approach of reading, I regard the novels of my corpus as “devices” which allow the reader to experience a period in between. Given that certain “ways of reading“ may raise “ways of being“, I let an ontological perspective of the subject emerge, which is included in a process of dual subjectivation that alternates moments of pendular intervals between dispossession and repossession of oneself. My corpus of novels drawn from the French literature of the 21st century has the distinctive feature of relating the Algeria War in a narration setting which tends to project the reader into the minds of fictional characters, building up supports for his identification. The reader is thus brought to undergo the test of two identity fluctuations. The first would be characterized by a form of relative alteration with the reader going through a mere “disquieting queerness”. The reader may thus experience a process of “paradoxical hallucination”. The second one should be conceived as an experience of radical alteration : in some of my corpus novels, the subject is induced to project himself into the minds of sadistic fictional characters. This projection categorically disturbs the introductory boundaries of his identity, for he is brought to apprehend himself through a process of “negative hallucination”. This second degree in the alteration causes a dual emotion to emerge, abjection, half way between fascination and revulsion. One might consider that this feeling of revulsion would protect him, by enabling him not to annihilate himself in these unbridled inmost depths that he is brought to discover in himself ; and this phenomenon of reappropriation seems all the more tangible as these “eccentric” novels arouse a phenomenon of distanciation on the reader’s part. Thus he must make the effort to reconfigure by himself the apparently informal construction which is delivered to him, everything occurring as if the act of reconfiguration of the layout of the narrative seemed to happen before the layout of the narrative itself. Thought out as devices, these novels allow the reader to experience a period in between. This experience might send back to one single phenomenon of original acknowledgment. However the experience of these novels, regarded as “transitional spaces” taken up by characters as “transitional subjects”, would also raise a process of dynamic and permanent “personation” of the subject with himself

Texto completoCertain contemporary texts and movies, by showing the presence of an enunciator-observer, use processes of writing which question the notion of fiction. This enunciator-observer is recognizable, in texts, through the figure of the narrator-writer-witness and, in movies, by the patent presence of a recording camera in a unique and distant point of view. Through the recording which they suggest and the distant place of the enunciator, these texts and movies reveal singular devices of creation and involves new attitudes of reading. The result of the research is explained in three parts. The first part intends to remind the positions of the theorists of cinema and literature on the notions of fiction, enunciation and point of view. The second part defines a corpus (selecting texts and movies from Annie Ernaux, Nicole Malinconi, Emmanuel Carrère, Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, Joachim Lafosse and Samuel Collardey) and marks, by classification, the indices of fiction or non-fiction - classification which reveals the massive presence of formal common indices of non-fiction bound to the treatment of the point of view and to the enunciative marking. The third part is based on the interviews realized with the authors in order to understand the process of production (intentions and devices) and that of the reception of the works (readings). It ends with conclusions on contemporary literary and film art, real and society. The final conclusion summarizes the thesis by using the expressions "other fiction" and "fiction of the other"

Texto completoMy PhD research explores how Taiji quan can be applied as a valued tool to enhance the actor’s “creative self-awareness” and integrate it into the actor’s training. Taiji quan, a prominent practice in Chinese culture that fuses external exercise and internal technique, aims to coordinate and unify body and mind. Specially, I examine how the psychophysical technique of Taiji quan allows the actor to transfer his body-and-mind status to a higher level to increase his “scenic presence”, to maintain a “gap” between himself and his role to create universal emotions, and develop his perception with the outer world. In this way, I present how the actor elevates his consciousness to superior levels during the acting process and how the corporeal training of Taiji quan facilitates this transformation. The study aims to explore the diverse technique of Taiji quan in cultivating the actor’s consciousness through in-depth interviews, analysis of performances, the researcher’s practical experiences in theatre and Taiji quan, and experimental research with actors and theatre students. The study also endeavors to introduce this traditional practice into the domain of modern psychophysical acting, to develop a method that fuses Eastern and Western performance methodologies and enables actors to apply the technique to improve acting
