Resumen
The professional ethics of journalists stands out as a pressing issue in contemporary public opinion. This article delves into the impact of the national mentality on journalists’ ethical norms and positions, as endorsed by global journalistic associations. “Journalistic ethics is a pivotal aspect of a journalist’s work. The in-depth reading, comprehensive understanding, and exploration of this represent one of the significant challenges in Kazakh journalism. This complex issue, often overlooked, remains insufficiently acknowledged in both scholarly and professional domains,” the study thoroughly examines within the context of the national mentality. The research provides a scholarly understanding of the continuity of traditions, customs, life positions, and perspectives of the Kazakh people in today’s national journalism. The investigation scrutinizes the extent to which national manners shape journalistic ethics. Many media outlets have exceeded boundaries to boost viewership or readership, exaggerating with high ratings and disseminating misinformation, thereby shaping a contemporary model of journalistic culture. The authors highlight the challenging conditions for information dissemination influenced by such factors. In the final conclusion, the study establishes that scrutinizing ethical principles in the media aids in predicting developmental processes in the state and society, facilitating the formulation of strategies to transform social communication and media culture into a beneficial channel for society.

The article discusses the concept of journalistic ethics in the PRC, documents codifying ethical norms, as well as the basic principles that guide Chinese journalists in their professional activities. The authors identify principles of the ethics of journalists in the modern PRC: conducting professional work in the interests and in accordance with the values of the CPC; perceiving information as something to be given, as news to be reliably told to the general public. The journalist must be an exemplary representative of Chinese society who is able to inspire and lead the people of the PRC. This statement, according to the analyzed survey, is supported by the majority of journalists in China. Less attention is paid to practical recommendations for the work of journalists than to ideological postulates from both the government, the controlling organization, and the journalistic community.

Resumen
This study is based on the scholars' critique of the Indonesian media reporting on disaster for focusing on vulnerable groups' suffering, sadness, and grief. The absence of comprehensive journalistic ethical guidelines for disaster published photographs in Indonesia, might contribute to the recurring choice and publication of such images in Indonesian print newspapers. Examining major disasters, including the 2004 Aceh Tsunami, the 2006 Yogyakarta and Central Java earthquake, the 2010 Mt. Merapi Eruption, and the 2015 Sumatra Forest fires, this research provides critical evidence for re-evaluating the Indonesian journalist’s codes of ethics, especially concerning the published photographs of disaster victims. Methodologically, this study draws on interviews with six Indonesian journalists and two media practitioners, exploring the ethical practices and dilemmas in photojournalism with a specific emphasis on disaster reporting in Indonesian print newspapers. The transcripts were analysed thematically, emphasising the repeating ideas or patterns present in the text. It also includes an analysis of three graphic/disturbing photographs from the 2010 Mt Merapi eruption coverage in Kompas and Kedaulatan Rakyat newspapers. The study highlights the complex balance between ensuring truthful reporting and honouring the dignity and privacy of those affected by disasters. It advocates for a nuanced method in disaster coverage that harmonizes journalistic integrity with a compassionate portrayal of victims. This research contributes to the discourse on ethical disaster photojournalism and has significant implications for policy development, journalist training programs, and the revision of journalistic codes of ethics, promoting a more empathetic and responsible approach in the field.

This study assesses whether the ethics guidelines of modern media organizations reflect an adherence to the messages Janet Malcolm sent in her controversial 1990 book, The Journalist and the Murderer, particularly on the meaning of “truth,” on maintaining objectivity, on avoiding conflicts of interest and on journalistic transparency. This assessment finds the policies of The New York Times, the Associated Press and the Society of Professional Journalists reflect that Malcolm’s once-controversial arguments have become central in today’s mainstream journalistic ethical guidelines.

The data show that participants ascribe moral obligations to journalistic institutions. Interviewees emphasise the predominance of market-driven interests over ethical values as one of the main threats to journalism. However, differences between the perceptions of journalists and media executives reveal that the latter believe that journalistic ethics pertain to individual journalists.

Resumen
It is impossible to imagine journalism without ethical norms and rules. All journalists, regardless of the field in which they work, must always adhere to these norms. This is primarily due to the nature, function and scope of the media. The audience meets any article in the media with great sensitivity. The journalist must thoroughly investigate the facts and events and not make mistakes. The journalist must be especially careful in his statements and examples. Thus, touching a person's reputation is unaccepted not only in society, but also in journalism in general. The journalist must distinguish between criticism and insult and see these differences. A journalist's professional ethics and professional duties are in harmony with each other. In the context of professional ethics, debt is considered an important quality. The professional ethics of a journalist regulates his responsibility to the public - readers, listeners, viewers for accurate, objective information. Professional ethics has emerged in the form of historically unwritten "laws". In general, a person based on the voice of conscience, justice and socially accepted rules in any field of activity has two main goals: to raise the level of necessity and appropriateness of the profession in addition to the executor of this profession; awareness of responsibility to society and people. As journalism serves people and society as a public institution, it can face a variety of challenges on a daily basis. One of these problems is ethical principles. The article discusses how sports journalists follow these principles.

Resumen
In the current era, news stories that utilize private chat records from social media as source material have attracted a substantial audience. However, there has been public debate regarding whether this practice breaches individual privacy management primarily and crosses the boundaries of journalistic ethics. This paper investigates the phenomenon of using private chat records from social media as news material, and its impact on personal privacy management and the boundaries of journalistic ethics. Specifically, the study focuses on how this practice disrupts the privacy management of chat record subjects, particularly in terms of boundary linkage, boundary permeability, and boundary ownership, thereby leading to issues of journalistic ethical lapses. The aim of the research is to propose methods for regulating journalistic practices and promoting the establishment of a "right to be forgotten" for social media users, in order to standardize journalistic boundaries, achieve boundary coordination, and reshape journalistic ethics. The main methodology of this paper is case analysis, complemented by literature review. The article employs Communication Privacy Management Theory as its theoretical framework and analyzes relevant journalistic cases. This paper finds that by standardizing the way journalists use news materials and promoting the establishment of the "Right to be Forgotten" for social media users, it is possible to regulate their news boundaries, achieve boundary coordination, and reshape their journalistic ethics.

This type of research is qualitative by using the text analysis approach of Robert Entman's model. The results showed that the implementation of Radar Sorong's print media on press freedom in the journalistic code of ethics was maximal. Meanwhile, based on Robert Entman's framing model analysis, print media journalists are still framing news that only involves one party. Through the framing analysis, the researcher quickly concludes that the violation of the journalistic code of ethics that journalists are still carrying out from the print media Radar Sorong is Article 1, namely "Indonesian journalists must act independently, produce news that is accurate, balanced, and does not have bad intentions." Thus, the freedom of the press in the Radar Sorong print media has not been fully accounted for and is still separated from the control of the journalistic code of ethics.

Resumen
The Lebanese media sector has played a pioneering role in the Arab world due to its free and diverse system. However, the lack of professional and ethical structures in journalistic practices can be attributed to political and economic pressures. Through both a quantitative and qualitative methodology, this study contributes to the complex boundaries of the Lebanese media landscape that make the gap between media ethics education and real-world pressures in need of sustained analysis. This research aims to explore the challenges media ethics education in Lebanon faces, along with the perceptions formed by media students about journalistic practices and the application of moral reasoning in the field. In addition, the study investigates whether media ethics courses prepare students for settling moral dilemmas in the professional arena. To address the multiple factors affecting ethics education, it is significant to understand the relationship between journalists and power, democratic norms, technological change, global community, and academic critiques. Survey and focus groups results indicated that the majority of students rated moral reasoning as important for their future media professions, and that the media ethics course prepares them for professional life. On the other hand, the majority believe that the corrupt system in Lebanon makes journalists resort to unethical practices which in turn compromise journalists’ credibility and integrity. Students consider that journalists have power as the so-called fourth estate, yet that power seems minimal when journalists lack the freedom to write facts without fear from editors and/or gatekeepers’ political views, economic pressure, and on-the-job demands, placing journalistic integrity again at stake.

Post-press freedom in Indonesia (the passing of Law No. 40/1999) gave rise to a variety of new problems, ranging from widespread violations of the Journalistic Code of Ethics (KEJ) to violence against journalists. In fact, the Press Law No. 40/1999 was actually born to provide fresh air for press freedom in the country and to provide the widest possible space for press operations that were previously locked in the shackles of power. The results of the discussion found that violations of the journalistic code of ethics tended to be committed by young journalists who were still raw with the articles of the code of ethics and the Press Law No. 40/1999. Forms of violation are sometimes reluctant to confirm sources, using fictitious anonymous sources, do not keep the identity of victims of immoral crimes secret, use bar language, and tend to attack individual privacy, and harass SARA - things that were previously very sacred. The results of the study prove that between press freedom and violations of journalistic code of ethics and violence against journalists have a significant relationship, while violations of journalistic codes of ethics with violence against journalists also have a significant relationship, but between press freedom and violence against journalists have a relative relationship during the conflict. Aceh does not have a causal relationship, but after the peace of GAM Aceh - RI there is a very significant relationship, in fact it was carried out by former fighting elements in Aceh GAM and the TNI / Polri. To avoid continuing victims, journalists in Indonesia, especially Aceh is expected to be able to apply the Proportional and Professional Concept (2P); Professional as a basic competency in journalistic and proportional operations is a provision to face various threats and dangers in fieldo perations.

Telephone surveys of 376 residents and 60 daily journalists in the same Midwestern county revealed starkly different conceptions of journalistic ethics. Members of the public seemed to believe that journalists' ethics are guided primarily by their occupational norms and competitive pressures, whereas the journalists themselves cited organizational policies, the relevant law, and their own individual reasoning as the primary influences on their ethical decision making. Journalists and public respondents showed surprisingly high agreement, however, on the unacceptability of specific, ethically controversial actions.

Resumen
Law protection for journalists has been guaranteed through legislation as outlined in law number 40 of 1999 concerning the press. Through the press law, the independence of the national press is a priority as a form of protection in the world of the press. In order to safeguard the independence of the national press, an independent body was formed which took care of and supervised the national press, the press council. Among the duties and functions of the press council is to enforce journalistic ethics through a journalistic code of ethics as a guide for journalists both journalists and press companies. The dynamics that occur, violations of the journalistic code of ethics sometimes create clashes with the public or the community who feel disadvantaged which results in conflict with the law. This research is a descriptive qualitative study with a normative juridical approach. From the analysis of this study shows that legal protection against violations of the journalistic code of ethics and the independence of the national press is adjusted to the main laws of the press against the intervention of parties who feel disadvantaged. The independence of the national press is directed at independence and without intervention in a story.

Resumen
The values of modern journalism are directly related to the era of a special informational narrative conditioned by ratings and the economic factor combined with the dominant information technology and the current confrontation between the traditional and the new. The research results are based on data from a three-stage survey conducted in 2018–2022 with the participation of more than 240 journalists of the Transbaikal Region and other regions of Russia aged 18 to 75.The survey was focused on identifying the civil, ethical and spiritual-moral views of journalists, the dominant axiological strategies of professional activity, determining the role of moral guidelines in the professional consciousness of the journalistic community and the specifi cs of ethical norms’ infl uence on the daily work of a journalist. The purpose of this article is to present a characteristic of a journalist’s axiological culture in the digital era, to identify the value dominants of his professional activity, determining their signifi cance, meaning and levels of experience, based on the conducted sociological survey. The research has been conducted within the framework of the linguocultural approach, which emphasizes the unity of culture and language in the process of creating and perceiving a media text, as well as the sociocultural approach, focused on the integrative potential of the media and the translation of values, which contribute to national identity. The article offers a defi nition of the “axiological culture of a journalist” as a hierarchical system of professional values, refl ecting unifi ed and socially signifi cant ideals and meanings, normative bases for acts of consciousness and behavior that provide the context for the journalist’s interpretation of reality and organize reality through an evaluative implication. The results of the sociological study have made it possible to identify the causes and conditions of professional ethics violations by journalists. The predominant motivations for informational interaction are formulated, value priorities in journalists’ work are identifi ed, and typical cultural markers demonstrating the actualization of memories in the “past-present-future” paradigm are singled out. The present article is the fi rst experience of systematization of the integral system of journalistic axiological culture on the basis of sociological material, which implies further interdisciplinary research of this issue.

Resumen
The digital evolution in the journalistic arena forces journalists to adapt their practices to the rules that come from the economic arena associated with commercialization. Reduced advertising revenue has resulted in the media tending to prioritize financial survival over journalistic principles or ethics. This research aims to describe how journalists struggle to define journalistic practices amidst the pressure of commercialization, using Bourdieu's theoretical perspective. The method used is metajournalistic discourse, using metajournalistic documents in the form of scripts written by digital journalists who broadcast on Remotivi. Metajournalistic discourse is a textual analysis method that focuses on how journalists tell stories about their journalistic practices, and these stories are assumed to shape the journalistic arena they inhabit. The findings show that journalists experience a paradox in defining and carrying out journalistic practices that are considered ideal. On the one hand, journalists appear to carry out journalistic practices in a situation with a high degree of heteronomy. On the other hand, journalists also seek to develop resistance by maintaining or developing definitions of journalistic practices or norms that are close to the autonomy pole, for example, by defining their journalistic practice with the term "journalistic jihad.” These idealized journalistic definitions or norms (which prioritize verification, accuracy, and adherence to journalistic firewalls) are shared and circulated through discourse texts to become resistance narratives.

News aggregator is a new profession that emerges along with the abundance of information. This article aims to analyze the results of the work practices of the news aggregator whose roles are mostly held by journalists in Indonesia. The news aggregators who also work as journalists, have professional ethics guidelines in the corridor of the journalistic process where the journalistic code of ethics must be implemented, the elements of journalism need to be carried out, as well as the composition of news with information in accordance with 5W1H. This guideline becomes the concept of analyzing news content which in this study is focused on news content in beritagar.id. The results showed that the news aggregation office, in this case beritagar.id, ran a journalistic process according to journalism values. However, it is still not recognized as journalism since the principle of going to the field to collect data directly is important in the process of verifying journalistic product data. Interestingly, the results of this study indicate an increase in understanding of the journalistic process in media aggregators for senior journalists who began their careers in the mainstream media.

The role played by interests in the configuration of an ethics of the journalistic agent This paper outlines the possibility and conditions of the journalist’s ethics from the point of view of Bourdieu’s professional analysis and Habermas’ discourse ethics, focusing on the notion of ‘interest’. Although the two thinkers have little in common, both seems to focus on the notion of interest to lead an ethical discussion. In this paper, the goal is to discuss these theoretical notions in order to examine what seems to be an everyday paradox between the journalist’s responsibilities and the role played by interest in the journalistic practices and in a communicative ethics. This paper deals with mass communication cannot be separated from ethical problems. One of our goals in studying the science of communication lies in the dimension of ethical communication. Ethics can be defined as a set of moral principles or values. Ethical standards can differ from one discipline to another. In the discipline of communication, a set of communication ethics has been adopted into various communication contexts and communication fields, some of which we have understood together are business communication ethics, interpersonal communication ethics, and public relations ethics. Mass communication ethics is a moral philosophy that deals with the obligations of the press and about the judgments of the good press and the bad press or the right press and the wrong press. Each mass media has its own code of ethics because indeed each type of mass media has its own character or characteristics, so we know that in this world there are print media journalistic ethics, journalistic code of ethics, radio, and television journalistic code of ethics.

Resumen
Abstract Journalistic translation is governed by a target-oriented norm that allows varying degrees of intervention by journalists. Given the public’s expectations for the fidelity of translated news, this norm entails ethical issues. This paper examines the ethical dimensions of journalistic translation through a case study of political news translation in the South Korean context. It investigates how newspapers translated a US president’s references to two South Korean presidents in accordance with the newspapers’ ideologies and then came to apply the translations as negative labels as the political situation evolved over time. The study demonstrates how even word-level translation can require an intricate understanding of the sociopolitical context and cumulative meanings of a word. It then draws its implications for machine translation by comparing the human translations with machine translations of the references in question. It concludes by discussing why machine translation cannot yet replace human translation, at least between Korean and English, and what translation studies should do regarding the ethics of journalistic translation.

The practice of obscuring news and advertising is still a problem in the Indonesian mass media. This research aimed to unravel journalistic ethics problems, especially those related to advertorials (advertisements delivered in an editorial style). The clear separation between news and advertisements is one of the two pillars of journalistic ethics, apart from separating facts and opinions to maintain journalistic independence. The research approach used was qualitative-descriptive, with data collection techniques through interviews (to journalists), observation and document searches. The results showed that most of the printed mass media studied tended to blur the boundaries between news and advertisements through various means, such as removing or shortening advertorial information.

This research is motivated by the problem of photojournalism that is not in accordance with the rules contained in the Journalistic Code of Ethics. The aim of this research is to find out how the Code of Ethics is applied to the Legal and Criminal News Photo in Jambiupdate.co itself. The research method used is qualitative with data analysis using Charles Sanders Peirce semiotics. The results of the study show that in general there are journalists who are not in accordance with the Code of Ethics. Likewise with the Journalistic Code of Ethics which regulates the ethics of journalists and the media in broadcasting photos in a news story. Jambiupdate.co online media, like other online media, will certainly try to apply the Photojournalism Code of Ethics in every news story, but the implementation is certainly not as easy as expected, because it is the principle of news speed which sometimes does not pay attention to the Code of Ethics itself and the lack of communication between journalists in the field. with the editorial team. In addition, violations of the photojournalism code of ethics are negligence or forgetting to blur photos that contain sadistic elements and the victim or perpetrator is a woman and a minor who is protected by the photojournalism code of ethics law.

Resumen
In law and mass media studies, morals and ethics are linked to the obligations of journalists, such as; the implementation of journalistic code of ethics in every journalistic activity is subject to legal institutions and regulations to carry out with good etiquette as the provisions in the law, which are a set of principles and rules that have generally been accepted and approved by the public. In this regard, ethical principles for the journalistic profession provide a legal basis for managing news in the media in an orderly manner in the relationship between legal subjects. In developments in media institutions in Indonesia, the aspects of share ownership in the media (leadership), economics and media marketing will greatly determine the ideology that is promoted by the media, where this ideology, if it leads to a political economy approach, will create media actors who are less familiar with communication ethics. Communication ethics here are positioned as mere instruments and become less meaningful in determining program content, program quality and media actors' respect for human rights that are represented by individuals as sources of information. This choice raises communication ethics on media actors who are considered to have experienced a reduction. Media players as a profession have taken a shortcut by referring to the principle of benefit, prioritizing the principle of benefit in its coverage and news, which is also paradoxical with the professional ethics it carries. To make matters worse, the absence of respect for the presumption of innocence in the name of the public's interest in obtaining information will increasingly make the mass media and media actors as dominant persons in reconstructing and manipulating social reality. Up to this point, the choice of the tendency to interpret the political economy approach or the ethical approach, in fact both of them do not have obvious legal implications, all of them are returned to each individual who is involved in activities in mass media institutions.

Resumen
The series of cases that attack journalists in carrying out their duties shows that the journalist profession is vulnerable to actions that will harm and threaten the life of every journalist in carrying out their journalistic duties. Protection measures for every citizen are the responsibility of the state. Once the importance of the benefits that will be felt by the public from the work of journalists is inversely proportional to efforts to protect journalists. Based on this, the purpose of this study is to examine the forms of legal protection and the inhibiting factors in protecting journalists who are carrying out their duties. This study examines the subject matter in a juridical-empirical way using a legal approach and a sociological approach by conducting direct interviews with parties related to the subject matter. The results of the research authors obtain answers to existing problems, that the forms of protection that are carried out are utilizing regulatory protection regulated in Indonesian legislation and international agreements, as well as the forms of protection provided by professional journalists' organizations based on journalistic ethics guidelines and journalist professional organization guidelines. This form of protection is experiencing obstacles, namely obstacles in the law enforcement process against legal processes carried out against journalists, obstacles that are focused on individual journalists related to the professionalism of the press personnel, as well as obstacles experienced by professional organizations that cannot reach the increasing number of journalists. and growing in number.

Resumen
The current condition of journalists is still not enough to be said to be professional, this is proven by the large number of violations of the code of ethics in the media in delivering news or information. Journalist organizations must have synergy, integrity, and credibility that aim to build the spirit of professionalism of journalists, so that they can develop professional press freedom in the future. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The results showed that the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Aceh Jaya as an organization has played a role in increasing the professionalism of journalists. This can be seen from the many positive impressions from the people of Aceh Jaya regarding the performance of Aceh Jaya journalists. The professionalism of Aceh Jaya journalists is also seen by their understanding of the journalistic code of ethics and responsibilities as a journalist. In delivering news, it is always timely and actual and there are many activities and programs carried out by PWI Aceh Jaya, including training and competency testing for PWI Aceh Jaya members who have just joined as well as conducting socialization related to journalism.

Resumen
Advances in technology accompanied by the rapid development of social media have made it easier for people to disseminate information, from writing, reporting, to disseminating the information they encounter in everyday life. In producing information, an understanding of the journalistic code of ethics is needed so that the content shared does not create new conflicts in society. This research was conducted to find out how the journalistic code of ethics is applied to the Merapi Uncover Twitter account as a citizen journalism media. This research is a descriptive qualitative research, namely research that will describe, describe, explain, explain, or answer in more detail the existing problems. The following research results are obtained: (1) Merapi Uncover is included in citizen journalism because the information shared is a product of non-journalist citizens. (2) Merapi Uncover tries to apply journalistic elements, such as using the 5W+1H (What, Who, Where, When, Why, and How) writing guidelines. (3) Information produced by Merapi Uncover is prone to subpoenas, because the information produced is not always guided by a journalistic code of ethics.

Resumen
The development of communication technology allows journalists to publish journalistic content independently through personal accounts on social media and sharing platforms. Independent publication allows journalists to earn additional income exceeding their official salary as journalists in media companies. This practice indicated as entrepreneurial journalism often blurs the boundaries between journalistic and commercial aspects. This study aims to reveal the meaning of entrepreneurial journalism among journalists of mass media companies. This study uses the social construction of technology (SCoT) theory with Alfred Schutz's phenomenological method and a qualitative approach. The study showed that journalists publish news through social media accounts and sharing platforms in various forms and content formats. The journalists practice entrepreneurial journalism because their skills support their passion for mastering technological devices. Besides, they also achieve self-satisfaction from working independently. Journalists regard entrepreneurial journalism as a side job while upholding the journalistic aspect rather than the economic reason. Expectations and opportunities to earn additional income do not attract journalists practicing entrepreneurial journalism to ignore journalistic values and norms. Journalists prioritize creating and publishing quality news content by following the Journalistic Code of Ethics. Entrepreneurial journalism tends to be interpreted by journalists personally as a form of repositioning and self-actualization during social life.

This research was conducted on the Korean drama series HUSH which aired in 2019 with 16 episodes. The author uses the Indonesian Press Council's journalistic code of ethics and the South Korean Press Code of Ethics to analyze the violations. Apart from that, the causes and consequences of violations of the journalistic code of ethics that occur can also be found. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with the Pierce model of semiotic approach. Resumen
This study aimed to understand the impact of ethical codes on Saudi journalists’ perceptions toward mobile journalism (MOJO). Three major ethical dimensions were examined, including seeking truth, minimizing harm, and being accountable in news coverage. A survey link created with SurveyMonkey was transmitted via social media avenues, such as Twitter and WhatsApp, where Saudi journalists can complete the questionnaire and then share the link with other Saudi journalists. A total of 124 Saudi journalists were recruited by this snowball sampling approach, while the Codes of Ethics of Society of Professional Journalists was adapted as major measurements for three ethical dimensions, including seeking truth, minimizing harm, and being accountable. Results found that all three ethical dimensions of professional journalists generated significant influences on Saudi journalists’ perceptions toward MOJO. Specifically, minimizing harm was found as the most powerful factor that affected Saudi journalists’ perceptions toward MOJO, followed by being accountable and seeking truth, indicating that Saudi journalists who were more likely to seek truth, minimize harm, and be accountable would exhibit more positive perceptions toward MOJO. Although using smartphone as a journalistic tool was a key factor toward Saudi journalists’ MOJO perceptions, it was not as powerful as three ethical dimensions that affected their MOJO perceptions. Keywords: mobile journalism, codes of ethics, professional journalism, Saudi journalists
