Texto completoThe main purpose of this work was to go through Jankelevitch's metaphysics and ethics, in connection with the music field. The originality of Jankelevitch's thought was to consider music as a live reality and concrete experience; in his opinion this art, namely in its language, in its technics, in its temporality, is a true laboratory of theoretical and metaphysical suggestions. The way chosen goes through the fiction, the disenchantement and the revelation of the possible meaning of reality and life, as music represents, according to jankelevitch, a temporal odyssey, which can approach the paradox of existence better than any other concept. Thus we explained jankelevitch's philosophy, through the examination of most of his works. On the other hand we approached Jankelevitch's musicology, in order to analyse the theoretical, aesthetical and technical features

Texto completoWe treated to read the philosophical work of Jankelevitch in the time optic, our objective is to prove that he is a philosopher of time and specially of the instant. The thesis is divided into three parts : in the first one, we treat the devenir, "to become" in order to demonstrat that for Jankelevitch human being is time in becoming. The second part treats the problem of the instant. The third one, study the problem of time and ethic. We try to understand how Jankelevitch treat the problem of time and the problem of human together. Also for him the problem of ethics and the problem of being should be treated together

Texto completoThe problem of the relationship of the self to the other has always been one of the most stimulating subjects of philosophical inquiry. Yet, the fine and penetrating work of Vladimir Jankelevitch, keen disciple of Bergson, remains little appreciated, in spite of the importance it gives to the moral dimension. In examining carefully his ideas on the relationship of the self to the other, we will endeavour to contribute to a better understanding of both the question and the philosopher. We have concluded that the subject of the other underlies the whole of his philosophy, and even that this itself constitutes its climax. The insightful analysis of consciousness, the complexities inherent to all human relationships and a keen sense of paradox bring to Jankelevich's theses an originality and a vigour which make them deserving of a place among the classic works on the subject, and make of them a forceful call for attention to our conscience, lethargic and yet suffering
Got, Michel. "Le temps de la mort à partir de la pensée de Vladimir Jankélévitch". Thesis, Metz, 2010. http://www.theses.fr/2010METZ023L.
Texto completoThis work aims to compare Jankelevitch’s understanding of death with that of other writers. Jankelevitch’s research shows three stages of death: the first during our lifetime, leading to the actual time of death, in which we must be continually thinking about death, the second at the time of death - a total annihilation of our being and the third after death which leads to nothingness. Plato sees death as the separation of the immortal soul from the mortal body. Marc-Aurele thinks that death is just a simple dissolution. Schopenhauer thinks that death is nothing as we survive within our specie. Elias refuses the disappearance of death. Heidegger says that Man must face death even if it creates anguish. The only important question for Heidegger is the ontological question. Levinas thinks that every meaning does not come from the being, as man is responsible for others right into the unknown of death. Morin thinks that Man is traumatised by the realisation of death thus explaining his desire for immortality which is a fundamental anthropological need. All questioning about death leads to questions about its meaning, God, suicide, time, nothingness and our moral responsibility towards others

Texto completoVladimir Jankelevitch, philosopher-pianist, intermingles his musical life in his philosophical reflections. His musical culture, listed here, proves his constant interest in the French music from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. His pianist experience in which the reality of musical performance is one, alive and changing is closely akin to his research of a " je-ne-sais-quoi ", a " presque-rien " or to that of the infinite, inaccessibility, the absolute. This thinker provides the reader a thinking about musical interpretation beyond mastered technical speculation. It's therefore necessary to think about the argumentation of this aesthetic around the mystery of interpretation which he attempts to define. It's also a question of clarifying this concept set in the musical language, in creation and in composition, and then in the mystery of performer' reading as well as in audiences' and critics' reception

Texto completoPalliative care is a field where end of life is a central subject. They emerged in a medical context caracterised by technical and scientifical innovations. So, they exist in a era where progress represents a powerful system. We can read palliative care as regard to their dimension of « clinical of the extreme of life ». In this, they take part of medical system as « medical speciality ». They also have to be considered in their deep specificity, in relation to their dimension of « clinical of uncertainty » because of the daily confrontation with death. The fundamental uncertainty which is the main caracteristic of palliative care can be analysed in connection with a thought of death. The latter has a deep meaning for the experience of each part of palliative care experience. We can deal with this theory of fundamental uncertainty thanks to the philosopher Vladimir Jankélévitch. He approaches death in its double reality of « event » and « mystery ». His theory allows for considering death in its metaphysical, existential and moral signification. Moreover, his moral considerations open the field for analizing ethics, institutionals and politics consequences of the theory of fundamental uncertainty in connexion with the importance of caring, in palliative medicine

Texto completoWe seek to establish how the figure of the bourgeois, discreet but important, is formed in the philosophy of E. Levinas and V. Jankélévitch. For this, we first examine how this figure manifests itself in philosophy and we extend this examination to the way the bourgeois appears both in literature and in certain currents of Judaism. In a second moment, the writings of Levinas and Jankélévitch are studied to understand what role the bourgeois figure plays in the authors' argumentative strategy, to what other figures it opposes, and to what extent it plays the role of counter-model of ethics that these philosophers, ethics that would aim for a form of de-bourgeoisness, play. In a final moment, we consider the socio-political consequences that we can try to draw from the presence of this figure of the bourgeois and this demand for de-escalation
