Resumen
Mostly for political reasons, rather little research has been done on the environmental impacts of military activities. However, some data on this theme have been collected, especially in North America, the Federal Republic of Germany, and The Netherlands. In this last-mentioned country the overall military environmental impact appears to be considerable, and can be compared qualitatively and quantitatively with the pressures on the environment which other economic sectors impose. The contribution of the military sector to the world-wide environmental degradation problem is estimated at more than 6%, resulting from its share in the gross international product and the heavy character of military practice in both war and peace-time. In The Netherlands this share appears to be about 2 to 5%, which can be deduced from the military share in the national total consumption of energy. The military use of such poisonous and often rare elements as thallium, thorium, copper, beryllium, cadmium, zinc, and lead, varies from about 10 to 40% of their total national use.

Resumen
The environmental effects of civil engineering activities can generally be divided into positive and negative. The construction process itself, however, with a few exceptions (e.g. possible consumption of waste materials) is typically characterised by the negative impacts. In practice, it is often not possible to avoid these negative impacts but only to minimise them. The necessity of protecting vegetation while conducting building activity springs from the effort to maintain all the positive functions of vegetation in the human life environment. A large leaf area, representing up to ten times the tree crown ground plan and its ability to catch dust particles on its surface, makes vegetation an important element in lowering the amount of dust in the air (a decrease of up to 70%).

Resumen
ObjectiveThe objective of this study was to compare head impact exposure across common training activities in soccer.BackgroundSoccer is a popular youth sport in the United States, but repetitive head impacts during training may result in neurocognitive deficits. Current research has identified factors associated with increased head impact exposure in soccer, but research has yet to contextualize head impact exposure across soccer activities. Modifying practice structure may be an avenue for reducing head impact exposure and concussion risk in soccer.Design/MethodsEight U15 soccer players participated in this study for 2 soccer seasons. Players wore a custom instrumented mouthpiece sensor during all practices and games. On-field activities were recorded with a time-synchronized camera. Research personnel recorded the duration of all practice (e.g., technical training, team interaction) and game activities performed by each player, and film review was performed to identify all head contact events during each session. Head impact exposure was quantified in terms of peak kinematics and impacts per player per hour. The amount of time an athlete was exposed to an activity was also evaluated. Mixed effects models were used to compare peak kinematics and generalized linear models were used to compare impact rates across activity types.ResultsActivity types were associated with peak kinematics and impact rate. Technical training activities were associated with higher impact rates and lower mean kinematics compared to other activity types. Team interaction activities and game play were associated with the highest rotational kinematics, but the lowest impact rates. A similar number of player-to-player contact events occurred within technical training, team interaction, and game play activities.ConclusionsInterventions designed to reduce head impact frequency in soccer may benefit from targeting technical training activities; whereas, interventions designed to reduce head impact magnitude may benefit from targeting team interaction and game activities.

Resumen
As the government increasingly allocates resources to innovation, questions arise as to how innovation organizations measure their performance, and ultimately their effectiveness, in supporting government missions. Innovation organizations are expected to demonstrate their impact. Researchers from the MITRE Corporation assessed how government focused innovation organizations advance innovation and evaluate their results. The research team collected information from a total of 39 government innovation organizations to understand their roles, activities, and measures of success. This article presents MITRE’s findings on the current state of pursuing and measuring innovation in government, as well as recommendations for metrics based on the different types of innovation organizations. MITRE recommends that innovation organizations focus on identifying and collecting outcome metrics that are critical to aligning innovation activities and products with government missions.

Resumen
This paper presents an analysis of the impact that cultural activities have on community building. Recently, more and more people begin to understand the importance of community: they bring about local communities, and they begin to get involved in its activities. Cultural activities, in this case, offer a significant assistance. They are regarded as part of a typical community building stage. In this paper, the local community is perceived as a localized, cohesive social group with its own traditions, established norms, values, share the same interests, place of residence or attendance, and the most important – emotional connection. Community building begins with a motivated human leader, then leader create a group of people, that is next step on community building, and then community influenced by cultural activities and other motives is building. Cultural activities, joint celebrations have a huge impact on community building; therefore, there is a legitimate reason for further considerations. Different art projects worldwide are flexible and bring results, furthermore, they are economically effective ways to solve community building problems. The experts substantiate the cultural activity benefits for the community and confirm the importance of a leader at the primary stage of community building. The object of this thesis is a the impact of cultural activities on community building. The goal of this thesis is after a theoretical analysis of the relationship between cultural activities and the community, to carry out a study to assess the formation of the community through cultural activities.Cultural regions of Lithuania are experiencing the decline in population which results in the decline of supply of cultural activities and activities related to arts. In the context of dwindling communities and eroding communality a research question of this thesis arises: how to build a community based on cultural activities?Research methods of this thesis include different types of methods. In the first chapter a comparative theoretical analysis and synthesis of sources of literature method is used. In this part of thesis, the concepts of culture and community, the impact of cultural activities on society and community building are examined. In the second chapter of this thesis, having the intention to receive practical advice, and to acquire know-how on event planning for communities, a qualitative method has been chosen in a form of semi-structured interview with representatives of communities in Šilainiai (Kaunas microdistrict), Balsiai (in Šilalė distr.) and Akademija (in Kaunas distr.). After finishing the process of analysis of and structuring all the results of quantitative research indicate: has revealed such results: communities form for different reasons, and they face similar challenges (lack of human and financial resources), communality is expressed differently in each community, and the events are being held in accordance with the needs of the respective community. The following conclusions are published after analyzing the impact of cultural activities on the community building theoretically and qualitative studies with community presidents-experts:• The community is a group of people connected by common interests, places, communications, but the most important thing is the feeling. When we talk about the local community, we need to perceive it as a localised group of people.• In community building activities, the classic path takes place through cultural activities. Artistic cultural phenomena create more cohesive and sustainable communities, making it easier to involve people in the community. There are many art projects around the world that seek to bring divisive societies into communities through cultural activities. Such projects are flexible, proven and cost-effective ways to address community development problems. After reviewing the collected interview material, the following recommendations can be made for those who want to build a community in their place:• At the beginning of the community building, it is important person-leader with enthusiasm, energy and charisma. The leader can‘t be to strong – have just his ideas, his vision. The good leader for community is person, who can accept other ideas, who can listen community wishes, needs and say thank you to community members. It is small thing that humans needs.• It is important for people that their wishes, needs, ideas are heard and to be allowed to implement them;• It is worth involving members of the community in the process of organizing events – it is important for them to feel necessary and useful, but after involving the community, the process of organizing takes longer. And here comes challenge for leader to be able to properly moderate and distribute the work for community;• It is very important to co-create the process with community, to communicate, let them to feel like the creators of the celebration;• The number of cultural activities to be organised varies according to the needs of the community, but it is important to maintain a cyclicality, quantity and quality ratio. It is worth having a few bigger celebrations for the whole community with a variety of activities, while other events are organized for smaller and target audiences. Activities must be non-binding, but innovative, modern and;• The community is made up of people of all ages and none of them should be forgotten – everyone has to find the right activities for themselves, but young mothers and seniors usually join communities, so at the beginning of the community it is the target audience to which cultural activities must be adapted;• News about community events works best in a word-of-mouth format, but all possible channels need to be used to invite people to events: networks, local newspapers, libraries or even churches.Every community is unique and you need to know or make research to getting know what is community wishes, needs, what ideas have community members. The leader must be person that community trust.

Resumen
This study analyzed the wastewater discharge of a four-region area comprised of agro-businesses (i.e. vegetable as well as commercial animal farms) and an adjacent urban area. Each region is respectively using a five-kilometer-long human-made irrigation system that collectively concludes at (and is injecting wastewater into) a major river leading to the Pacific Ocean. Using research methodology involving scientific measurements taken at strategic points located throughout this irrigation system, we deductively isolated which region in this overall area is the most significant respective contributor to the amassed wastewater. We hypothesized that the agro-business area involving commercial animal farming would be the most significant contributor. While we discovered that this is partly correct, the urban area is discharging the most concentrated levels of waste, including raw sewage. We do suspect that Taiwan’s environmental pollution regulations are beingviolated. However, further analysis involving wastewater volume, soil analysis, agro-business, and urban social construction identification, as well as the identifying of relevant environmental protection laws is still needed. This would best capacitate activism efforts toward lobbying government ornon-government organizations for potential environmental violations related to the intervention.

Resumen
We examined how alibi strength and a suspect's claim of engaging in salacious alibi activities impact alibi believability. Specifically, we investigated whether an alibi of watching an X-rated movie versus watching a regular movie caused differences in alibi believability, perceived likelihood of guilt, and ratings of various character traits. Undergraduates read a crime description and a mock transcript before completing a questionnaire (adapted from Olson & Wells, 2004). Alibis were rated as more believable when the suspect provided a salacious alibi. Suspects with salacious alibis were rated as more honest, open, and less likely to be guilty.

Resumen
AbstractThe Sun is an active star and its magnetic field fluctuates from a fraction of a second to a long period of time. The solar wind, CME, solar prominence, solar flares, solar particle and solar filament are the direct result of solar magnetic activity effects on the interplanetary space, Earth’s magnetosphere and ionosphere. The intensity of irruption of these phenomena from the Sun’s surface depends upon its phases. The extreme events affect technology both in space and on the ground. The data obtained from series of observations can help to predict solar activities and safekeeping to the space technology. In this study the cross correlations between IMF Bz, solar wind velocity(Vsw) and interplanetary electric field(Ey) with AE and SYM-H are studied. The results reveal that strong geomagnetic disturbances have high impact on the components of space weather than weak disturbances have.

Resumen
The relevance of the study is determined by the change of technological structure of the Russian economy: digital technologies are becoming an integral part of the fulfilling life of both individual and legal entities. The use of digital technologies in the activities of manufacturing enterprises allows them to become more competitive. However, the change in almost all processes of an enterprise because of digitalization simplifies some of them and reduces their cost but complicates others and makes them more expensive. In addition, the digitalization leads to the emergence of new processes at enterprises that often means the emergence of new risks and additional costs. The purpose of this research is to study the impact of the digitalization on activities of industrial enterprises. Objectives of the study are: to study the concept of digitalization, areas of activity of industrial enterprises as well as consequences of the introduction of digital technologies into each of the activity area of industrial enterprises and the impact of digitalization on the results of a production enterprise.

Resumen
The aging of the Western society has become one of the key issues in research. Lately research has shown relationship between improvement in cognitive functioning and involvement in physical activities. The aim of the study was to examine the impact of different types of physical activities on executive functioning. Overall 30 seniors aged from 65 participated in a two-day study. They were divided into three groups per their life-style – aerobic activity, strength training and sedentary. Results indicated differences between the groups in cognitive efficiency (F = 6.791, p < 0.01) and working memory (F = 6.179, p < 0.01) as well as the inhibition of attention (F = 4.311, p < 0.01). The mean scores were higher in the aerobic group. The results indicate that involvement in aerobic physical activity might lessen the decline in executive functioning in seniors.
