Resumen
The agricultural costs can be reduced with waste water application. The effect of water quality was tested on several parameters of purslane and basil. Four treatments were applied (Irr0: non-irrigated control; Irr1: effluent water from an intensive African catfish farm; Irr2: diluted effluent water with gypsum; Irr3: Körös-oxbow lake water as irrigated control). Completely random sampling was used, ten plants were measured per treatment. For basil the benefical effects of Irr3 irrigation were detected; there were significant differences among the treatments. The highest values of the parameters were in Irr3: plant height (47.96 cm), root length (23.22 cm), biomass (164 g plant-1, fresh floral shoot tip (85.56 g plant-1), fresh stem (78.44 g plant-1) and fresh root weight (9.38 g plant-1). At basil very strong positive correlation was evinced between the biomass, and fresh root weight (p=0.01; Pearson’s r=0.87). The significantly more yield was achieved by irrigation on basil. Irrigation with undiluted effluent water (Irr1: biomass: 124.50 g/plant) is similarly effective to increase yield, as in Irr3.

Resumen
O trabalho foi elaborado com o propósito de se avaliar o uso de resíduos alimentares na ração de frangos de corte, obtidos através de coleta seletiva em um bairro popular da cidade de São Carlos, SP, Brasil, triturados, esterilizados, secados e caracterizados química e microbiologicamente. O componente final obtido, denominado Ingrediente de Ração dos Resíduos Alimentares (IRRA), foi testado em frangos como ingrediente de ração, nas proporções de 5, 10, 15, 20 e 25%, em associação com o farelo de milho, farelo de soja e outros ingredientes. A caracterização do IRRA mostrou ausência de micotoxinas, metais pesados, pesticidas organoclorados e microrganismos patogênicos. Houve valor da energia metabolizável alto (3.483 kcal kg-1), bom valor proteico (12%) e diversos minerais. Detectaram-se baixos conteúdos de vitaminas, alguns minerais e aminoácidos. Os resultados mostraram que a inclusão do IRRA em até 20%, não alterou o desempenho das aves, como avaliado pelos índices de consumo de ração, o ganho de peso e a conversão alimentar.

Abstract. We present the In situ/Remote sensing aerosol Retrieval Algorithm (IRRA) that combines airborne in situ and lidar remote sensing data to retrieve vertical profiles of ambient aerosol optical, microphysical and hygroscopic properties, employing the ISORROPIA II model for acquiring the particle hygroscopic growth. Here we apply the algorithm on data collected from the Facility for Airborne Atmospheric Measurements (FAAM) BAe-146 research aircraft during the ACEMED campaign in the Eastern Mediterranean. Vertical profiles of aerosol microphysical properties have been derived successfully for an aged smoke plume near the city of Thessaloniki with aerosol optical depth of ∼ 0.4 at 532 nm, single scattering albedos of ∼ 0.9–0.95 at 550 nm and typical lidar ratios for smoke of ∼ 60–80 sr at 532 nm. IRRA retrieves highly hydrated particles above land, with 55 and 80 % water volume content for ambient relative humidity of 80 and 90 %, respectively. The proposed methodology is highly advantageous for aerosol characterization in humid conditions and can find valuable applications in aerosol–cloud interaction schemes. Moreover, it can be used for the validation of active space-borne sensors, as is demonstrated here for the case of CALIPSO.

Abstract Background Streptococcus pneumoniae causes an estimated 826,000 deaths of children in the world each year and many health facility visits. To reduce the burden of pneumococcal disease, many nations have added pneumococcal conjugate vaccines to their national immunization schedules. Nicaragua was the first country eligible for funding from the GAVI Alliance to introduce the 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13), provided to infants at 2, 4, and 6 months of age. The goal of this study was to evaluate the population impact of the first five years of the program. Methods Numbers of visits for pneumonia, pneumonia-related deaths, bacterial meningitis, and infant deaths between 2008 and 2015 were collected from all 107 public health facilities in León Department. Vital statistics data provided additional counts of pneumonia-related deaths that occurred outside health facilities. Adjusted incidence rates and incidence rate ratios (IRRa) in the vaccine (2011–2015) and pre-vaccine periods (2008–2010) were estimated using official population estimates as exposure time. Results The IRRa for pneumonia hospitalizations was 0.70 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.66, 0.75) for infants, and 0.92 (95% CI: 0.85, 0.99) for one year olds. The IRRa for post-neonatal infant mortality was 0.56 (95% CI: 0.41, 0.77). In the population as a whole, ambulatory visits and hospitalizations for pneumonia, as well as pneumonia-related mortality and rates of bacterial meningitis were lower in the vaccine period. Conclusion Five years following program introduction, reductions were observed in health facility visits for pneumonia in immunized age groups and infant mortality, which would be hard to achieve with any other single public health intervention. Future study is warranted to understand whether the lack of a booster dose (e.g.,, at 12 months) may be responsible for the small reductions in pneumonia hospitalizations observed in one year-olds as compared with infants. Resumen
Intrinsic defects in 3C-SiC are generated by implantation of H+- and He+-ions or irra¬diation with high energy electrons. The defect parameters and the thermal stability of the observed defects are determined. The capture-cross-section of the W6-center is directly measured by variation of the filling pulse length. The charge state of the W6-center is obtained from double-correlated DLTS investigations according to the Poole-Frenkel effect.

Este artículo tiene como propósito analizar las principales estrategias de gestión ambiental implementadas en el municipio de Quinchía, Risaralda, en especial en los orregimientos de Naranjal e Irra, frente al desarrollo minero extractivista en el siglo xxi. Para tal fin, en primer lugar, se realizó un estado del arte sobre el desarrollo minero extractivista en el contexto nacional, departamental y local en el siglo xxi. Seguidamente se identificaron las estrategias de gestión ambiental en el desarrollo minero, la cuales se concretaron principalmente en marcos normativos y programáticos, que en su mayoría buscan promover un desarrollo minero sostenible asociado fundamentalmente a empresas transnacionales, ocasionando conflictos socioambientales. Abstract: Environmental management strategies to deal with extractivist mining development in the municipality of Quinchía (Risaralda) Abstract: This article aims to analyze in the 21st century the main environmental management strategies implemented in the municipality of Quinchía (Risaralda), especially in the corregimientos of Naranjal and Irra, in front of extractive mining development. To this end, first, a state of the art on extractive mining development was carried out in the national, departmental and local context in the 21st century. Next, environmental management strategies in mining development were identified. These strategies were mainly implemented in normative and programmatic frameworks, most of which seek to promote sustainable mining development, mainly associated with transnational corporations, leading to socio-environmental conflicts. It was found that there was a specific interaction between peptidolipid C18H35O (Stearoyl)-Phe-Trp-Ser-His-Glu and paraoxon. The aromatic residue groups were involved in the recognition between paraoxon and the peptidolipid, because the fluorescence of Trp in the peptidolipid at 351 nm was quenched by paraoxon in the subphase. When paraoxon was dissolved in the subphase, the surface potential-area (delta V-A) isotherm for the peptidolipid A displayed an unusual shape. This was interpreted on the basis of Infrared Reflection-Absorption Spectroscopy (IRRAS) results as being due to the reorientation of the benzene ring of paraoxon, which changed from parallel to the air-water interface in the absence of a monolayer to a tilted orientation upon interacting with the peptidolipid Langmuir monolayer. The secondary structure of oganophosphorus acid anhydrolase (OPAA) Langmuir monolayer in the absence and presence of diisopropylfluorophosphate (DFP) in the subphase was also studied by the IRRAS and Polarization Modulated-IRRAS (PM-IRRAS). The shape of OPAA molecules is supposed to be elliptic and the long axis of OPAA was parallel to the air-water interface in the absence of DFP in the subphase, whereas the long axis became perpendicular in the presence of DFP. This result explains the decrease of the limiting molecular area of OPAA Langmuir monolayer when DFP was dissolved in the subphase. Using the Langmuir monolayer technique, the surface properties of aequorin were studied. The results showed that aequorin formed a stable Langmuir monolayer and the surface pressure-area isotherms were dependent on both pH and ionic strength. At a pH higher or lower than 7.6, the limiting molecular area decreased. The addition of calcium chloride to the Tris/HCl buffer subphase (pH 7.6) caused an increase of the limiting molecular area of the aequorin Langmuir monolayer. The fluorescence spectra of a Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) monolayer of aequorin in the presence of calcium chloride indicated that the aequorin transformed to the apoaequorin. The Langmuir monolayer of aequorin and apoaequorin was studied by IRRAS and PM-IRRAS techniques. The different behavior of aequorin and apoaequorin at the air-water interface was explained by the fact that aequorin formed dimers at air-water interface but apoaequorin was monomer. It was more difficult for a dimer to be tilted by the compression of the Langmuir monolayer.

The IRMA III infrared radiometer is a passive atmospheric water vapor detector designed for use with interferometric submillimeter arrays as a method of phase correction. The IRMA III instrument employs a distributed, multi-tasking software control system permitting precise fine-grained control at remote locations over a low-bandwidth network connection. IRMA's software is divided among three processors tasked with performing three primary functions: command interpretation, data collection and motor control of IRMA's Alt-Az mount. IRMA's hardware control and communication functionality is based on compact, low cost, energy efficient Rabbit 2000 microcontroller modules, selected to meet IRMA's limited space and power requirements. IRMA accepts scripts defined in a custom, high level control language as its method of control, which the operator can write or dynamically generated by a separate GUI front-end program.

The Infrared Radiometer for Millimetre Astronomy (IRMA) is a passive atmospheric water vapour monitor developed at the University of Lethbridge. It is a compact, robust, and autonomous instrument, which is capable of being operated remotely. The latest model is based on a PC/104 running an AMD 133 MHz SC520 processor, which allows for more flexible control of the unit. The modifications and upgrades to the software required for the transition to this new platform are discussed in this thesis. In addition to software optimisation, a new calibration method has been developed as the unit has become better understood. This method has been verified through test campaigns carried out in Lethbridge and Chile. The results of these tests are included in this thesis.

Nesta dissertação é estudado um importante tópico concernente às redes totalmente ópticas: algoritmos de roteamento e atribuição de comprimentos de onda (RWA). Nas redes totalmente ópticas, o sinal óptico não é regenerado a cada nó. Por isso, é muito importante o desenvolvimento de algoritmos de RWA capazes de encontrar rotas levando em consideração a degradação do sinal óptico, ou seja, algoritmos de IRWA (Impairment Aware Routing and Wavelength Assignment). Neste trabalho são propostas duas novas abordagens para solução do RWA em redes totalmente ópticas. Ambas utilizam parâmetros de redes simples, como comprimento e ocupação de enlace, para montagem de algoritmos de roteamento adaptativos de alto desempenho em ambientes de rede ópticas limitadas pelas penalidades da camada física. Por essa razão, os algoritmos aqui propostos conseguem resolver o problema de IRWA de forma rápida. Na primeira abordagem, denominada PIAWF (Physical Impairment Aware Weight Function), é definida uma nova função custo adaptativa para enlaces que possui dois parâmetros livres, nos quais são armazenados, de forma indireta, informações sobre as penalidades da camada física. Na segunda abordagem, denominada roteamento por série de potência, é elaborada uma forma sistemática de se construir funções de custo adaptativas a partir de parâmetros pré-estabelecidos por um especialista em redes. Estes parâmetros são as variáveis da função custo, a qual é expandida em uma série de potências multivariável. Os coeficientes desconhecidos da série devem ser otimizados com o objetivo de melhorar o desempenho de rede. A técnica Particle Swarm Optimization é utilizada para encontrar os coeficientes da série

Svensk doktrin framhåller sex grundläggande förmågor för analys av motståndaren. Dessa är ledning, uthållighet, und/info, rörlighet, verkan och skydd. Förmågorna är en tankemodell avsedd för att nå maximal effekt i sitt agerande. De är ständigt närvarande på stridsfältet, de påverkas av varandra och deras betydelse varierar över tid. Syftet med uppsatsen är att belysa IRA utveckling mellan 1968-1974 utifrån de sex grundläggande förmågorna. Resultatet visar att IRA utveckling under tiden för studien främst skedde inom förmågan verkan, andra förmågor som ledning och und/info tog längre tid att utveckla. En orsak till detta kan vara att studien omfattar inledningen av konflikten och IRA utveckling mot att bli en icke-statlig väpnad aktör.
The Swedish military doctrine stresses six basic capabilities for analysing the opponent. These six capabilities are defined as command, endurance, intelligence and information, mobility, effect and defence. It is a given model designed to gain maximum effect through action and the capabilities are always present in the battlefield. They affect one another and their importance varies over time. The aim of this essay is to highlight the IRA progress during 1968-74 from the capability perspective. The study shows a significant increase in IRA’s ability to use arms and in the area of bomb strategy development. The progress concerning the other five capabilities’ turned out to be of lesser significance. A reason for this could be that the study focuses on the very beginning of the troubles and the IRA’s growth into becoming a non-state armed actor.

Resumen
This thesis offers new philosophical and literary interpretations of Seneca's 'De ira'. It takes as its starting-point the observation that both the philosophical position on which the text relies and the way in which it is organised appear to be chaotic, and it investigates how far and why this is the case. It shows that a coherent philosophical position underlies the text but that the text presents it as incoherent, and that it does this for therapeutic purposes. Similarly, it shows that the text is organised in a far more orderly way than has been previously appreciated, and it explains how the (apparent) disruption of that organisational system serves the text's therapeutic function. In making these arguments, it presents new readings of the De ira that reveal the text's philosophical and literary qualities, arguing that it constitutes a more sophisticated response to Seneca's philosophical predecessors than previous accounts have claimed, and that the text, as it progresses, introduces new therapeutic strategies that provide 'safety nets' should its earlier principal strategies have failed. The thesis aims to be methodologically innovative in using Seneca's descriptions of emotional responses as well as more explicit theorising to reconstruct his philosophical position and in suggesting a new approach to interpreting the role of interlocutors and addressees in didactic and dialogic texts.

Our group has developed a 20 μm passive atmospheric water vapour monitor. The Infrared Radiometer for Millimetre Astronomy (IRMA) has been commissioned and deployed for site testing for the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) and the Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT). Measuring precipitable water vapour (PWV) requires both a sophisticated atmospheric model (BTRAM) and an instrument (IRMA). Atmospheric models depend on atmospheric profiles. Most profiles are generic in nature, representing only a latitude in some cases. Site-specific atmospheric profiles are required to accurately simulate the atmosphere above any location on Earth. These profiles can be created from publicly available archives of radiosonde data, that offer nearly global coverage. Having created a site-specific profile and model, it is necessary to determine the PWV sensitivity to the input parameter uncertainties used in the model. The instrument must also be properly calibrated. In this thesis, I describe the radiometric calibration of the IRMA instrument, and the creation and analysis of site-specific atmospheric models for use with the IRMA instrument in its capacity as an atmospheric water vapour monitor for site testing.

Resumen
In recent years, high order harmonic (or eigenvector) of neutron diffusion equation has been widely used in on-line monitoring system of reactor power. There are two kinds of calculation method to solve the equation: corrected power iteration method and Krylov subspace methods. Fu Li used the corrected power iteration method. When solving for the ith harmonic, it tries to eliminate the influence of the front harmonics using the orthogonality of the harmonic function. But its convergence speed depends on the occupation ratio. When the dominant ratios equal to 1 or close to 1, convergence speed of fixed source iteration method is slow or convergence can’t be achieved. Another method is the Krylov subspace method, the main idea of this method is to project the eigenvalue and eigenvector of large-scale matrix to a small one. Then we can solve the small matrix eigenvalue and eigenvector to get the large ones. In recent years, the restart Arnoldi method emerged as a development of Krylov subspace method. The method uses continuous reboot Arnoldi decomposition, limiting expanding subspace, and the orthogonality of the subspace is guaranteed using orthogonalization method. This paper studied the refined algorithms, a method based on the Krylov subspace method of solving eigenvalue problem for large sparse matrix of neutron diffusion equation. Two improvements have been made for a restarted Arnoldi method. One is that using an ingenious linear combination of the refined Ritz vector forms an initial vector and then generates a new Krylov subspace. Another is that retaining the refined Ritz vector in the new subspace, called, augmented Krylov subspace. This way retains useful information and makes the resulting algorithm converge faster. Several numerical examples are the new algorithm with the implicitly restart Arnoldi algorithm (IRA) and the implicitly restarted refined Arnoldi algorithm (IRRA). Numerical results confirm efficiency of the new algorithm.
