Resumen
Traumatic dissecting pseudoaneurysms of the cervical and petrous internal carotid artery are often a result of blunt or penetrating trauma. These patients are at high risk for thromboembolic complications and are managed with antiplatelet agents. Patients who develop neurologic symptoms while on antiplatelet agents, or have interval enlargement of their pseudoaneurysms, may require repair of the vessel. We describe a case in which we performed an endovascular repair of an enlarging distal cervical internal carotid artery pseudoaneurysm, with placement of a covered stent. The video can be found here: http://youtu.be/uCypcsBvOZ4.

Resumen
Idiopathic or hereditary gingival fibromatosis (HGF) is a relatively rare disease characterized by the enlargement of the gingiva, resulting in functional, esthetics and psychological disturbances. The degree of gingival overgrowth can be defined as: grade 0: no sign of gingival enlargement; grade I: enlargement confined to interdental papilla; grade II: enlargement involves papilla and marginal gingiva; and grade III: enlargement covers three quarters or more of the crown. This case report describes the case of a 16-year-old girl suffering from HGF with chief complaint of gingival swelling. Intraoral examination exhibited diffuse and grade III gingival enlargement in both jaws and also in both surfaces of buccal and lingual/palatal. Treatment included surgery (internal and external gingivectomy) in six sessions, and prescription of antibiotics and 0.2% chlorhexidine mouthwash. Moreover, gingivoplasty was performed in the esthetic zone of maxilla after performing all the surgeries in the mouth. The patient was under regular follow-up visits. The treatment outcomes after six months were satisfactory and no symptoms of recurrence were observed.

Resumen
Density logging is an effective method in the evaluation of coalbed methane (CBM) reservoirs. Whether density log values effectively represent true density of coal will directly determine precision of evaluating coalbed methane parameter logs. In this paper, a statistical method is used to analyze density log response characteristics and hole enlargement rate for three main coal beds in the study area in order to determine the internal relation between hole enlargement rate and density response. Analytical results show that distortion of density log response values is caused mainly by hole enlargement impacts. Based on the apparent geometric factor theory, a model suitable for correcting hole enlargement impacts density logs for coalbed methane reservoirs has been deduced. To correct density logs for hole enlargement influences, it is key to determine a mud apparent geometric factor. Using measured apparent relative density, density log values and caliper logs for coal rock, the least squares fitting method was adopted to obtain computation model constants for the mud apparent geometric factor applicable to the study area. When this model was applied in a computer autocorrecting process for evaluating enlargement impacts on density logs for coalbed methane reservoirs of the Hancheng gas field in the eastern section of Ordos Basin, China, the correction results were very close to measured relative density, indicating that this method can improve precision of correcting hole enlargement impacts on density logs.

Resumen
ABSTRACT Hereditary gingival enlargement also known as gingivitis or familial elephantiasis is a rare type of gingival enlargement. It appears as an isolated autosomal dominant disorder or maybe associated with other conditions. Oral manifestations may vary from minimal involvement of only tuberosity area and the buccal gingiva around the lower molars to a generalized enlargement inhibiting eruption of the teeth. This paper discusses the case of a 13-year-old female patient with distinctive facial characteristics who presented to the department with a chief complaint of swollen gums since 1 year. She had severe diffuse gingival enlargement of the maxilla and mandible. Diagnosis was made based upon clinical examination and family history. Quadrant wise internal bevel gingivectomy procedure was done for the patient to restore her functional and esthetic needs. How to cite this article Prasad SSR, Radharani C, Sinha S, Kumar SVK. Resumen
The filtrates or centrates from dewatering of digested sludges cause high internal nitrogen loads on sewage treatment plants. Especially at poor inflow C:N ratios separate treatment of these sludge liquors can significantly relieve the biological treatment stage. We developed a new process for a biological sidestream treatment with primary sludge as the carbon source for denitrification. The process has beeen tested in laboratory-scale tests and by computer simulations. The stability of the process is being investigated in a full-scale application under practical conditions.

Resumen
Abstract Aim This article describes the surgical management of a young, female patient with severe gingival enlargement of unknown etiology. Background Gingival enlargement frequently occurs as gingival hyperplasia, representing a reaction to a known stimulus or agent and, histopathologically, implies an increase in both extracellular matrix and cell numbers. The enlargement may range from mild, in which gingival architecture is minimally affected, to severe, in which the gingiva becomes bulbous and covers the clinical crowns of teeth. A number of local and systemic factors, such as plaque, hormonal changes, drug ingestion, and heredity, can cause or influence gingival enlargement. Mild to moderate increase in gingival bulk is relatively common, but massive gingival enlargement with associated bone resorption is rare. Case Description This case involved a 19-yearold female patient who presented with generalized severe gingival enlargement with aggressive periodontitis, a condition of some five to six months in duration. Results Based on a thorough clinical and radiographic examination, laboratory tests, and oral hygiene instructions, an internal bevel gingivectomy was performed to remove excess gingival tissue and areas of bone loss were debrided properly. There was no recurrence eight months following the last surgery. Summary Although we were not able to identify the exact cause of the gingival enlargement, amelioration of the unusual very soft, friable, enlarged gingivae and the severe periodontal attachment loss was observed. Clinical Significance Before initiating any periodontal management of a case of severe gingival enlargement with aggressive periodontitis, it is recommended to perform a complete extraoral and intraoral examination with radiographs, take a family and medical history, and determine if any medications may be responsible for the gingival enlargement. Additional testing and analysis, as described in this case, may be necessary. Citation Vishnoi SL, Phadnaik MB. Unusual Gingival Enlargement with Aggressive Periodontitis: A Case Report. Resumen
Abstract Internal resorption was associated with long-term chronic inflammation of the pulp (chronic granulomatous pulpitis). When internal resorption is radiographically confirmed, endodontic treatment becomes a necessity. Vital teeth internal resorption appears radiographically as an oval enlargement of the pulp chamber and root canal with smooth, symmetrical outline. Internal granuloma is assumed to be an effect of the trauma, or pulp inflammation, the ailment is rare, asymptomatic and might progress rapidly, causing perforation. It is difficult to remove the pulp tissue from the resorptive defect, since this area is not easily accessible for instrumentation. The delay of the endodontic treatment may lead the internal resorption to perforation, thus decreasing the chances of treatment success. In the following paper, we present a total of two clinical cases with internal granuloma with perforation that have benefited of specific endodontic treatment.

Resumen
Abstract A rare case of bilateral intracavernous internal carotid artery aneurysms is presented. The clinical and laboratory data strongly suggested the mycotic nature of the aneurysms. Internal carotid artery ligation was performed because of clinical evidence of progressive enlargement of the right-sided aneurysm. The left-sided aneurysm was managed medically. It remained asymptomatic and, 14 months later, a control angiogram showed no significant change in its size and configuration.

Abstract A 54-year-old man with a right hemiparesis was found to have an intrasellar intercarotid communicating artery associated with agenesis of the right internal carotid artery. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies demonstrated the spatial relationship of the anomalous artery to the surrounding structures, thus suggesting an embryonic enlargement of the capsular artery as a source of this anomalous artery.

Resumen
Cavernous angiomas of the internal auditory canal are rare lesions. The authors present a case of a 29-year-old lady with multiple infratentorial cavernous angiomas, whose sister had previously undergone surgery for a similar supratentorial lesion. She initially presented with an acute brainstem haematoma, secondary to a pontine cavernous angioma. Three years later she developed progressive right-sided sensorineural hearing loss and facial nerve paresis due to an internal auditory canal lesion. This was removed via the translabyrinthine approach and was found to be a cavernous angioma. This report underlines the multiple and dynamic nature of familial cavernous angiomas, as well as the importance of follow up to determine whether new symptoms are due to the enlargement of known angiomas or the development of new ones. As far as the authors are aware, this is the first report describing a cavernous angioma of the internal auditory canal in the context of familial and multiple infratentorial angiomas.

Resumen
Objectives To assess the relationship between cross-sectional area of internal jugular veins and brain volumes in healthy individuals without neurologic disease. Methods A total of 193 healthy individuals without neurologic disease (63 male and 130 female; age > 20 to < 70 years) received magnetic resonance venography and structural brain magnetic resonance imaging at 3T. The internal jugular vein cross-sectional area was assessed at C2–C3, C4, C5–C6, and C7–T1. Normalized whole brain volume was assessed. Partial correlation analyses were used to determine associations. Results There was an inverse relationship between normalized whole brain volume and total internal jugular vein cross-sectional area (C7–T1: males r = −0.346, p = 0.029; females r = −0.301, p = 0.002). After age adjustment, association of normalized whole brain volume and normalized gray matter volume with internal jugular vein cross-sectional area became positive in males (normalized whole brain volume and right internal jugular vein cross-sectional area (C2–C3) changed from r = −0.163 to r = 0.384, p = 0.002), but not in the females. Conclusion Sex differences exist in the relationship between brain volume and internal jugular vein cross-sectional area in healthy individuals without neurologic disease.

Resumen
Enlargement of the cochlear aqueduct (CA) is often mentioned in the otologic literature, usually in its purported association with sensory hearing loss, stapes gusher, and transotic cerebrospinal fluid leak. In CT scans of 100 ears, the diameter of the CA medial aperture was found to be highly variable, ranging from 0 to 11 mm, with a mean of 4.5 mm. In contrast, the otic capsule segment was very narrow in every case. It could be visualized in only 56% of cases, none of which exceeded 2 mm in diameter. Several published reports of supposed CA enlargement presented images of a dilated medial aperture that was well within the range of normal variability according to the present study. In a thorough review of the literature on radiology of the CA, we were unable to find a single published image that convincingly demonstrated enlargement of the otic capsule portion. As radiographic CA enlargement has not been convincingly reported to date, it appears to be an exceedingly rare or perhaps even nonexistent malformation. It is important to recognize than even a radiographically normal CA may be hyperpatent. It is theoretically possible for increased fluid flow to result from either deficiencies in intraluminal membrane baffles or subtle canal enlargement beneath the resolution limits of CT scanning. However, as fluid flow through a tube is regulated by its narrowest point, It is extremely improbable that stapes gusher, transotic CSF leak, and vigorous perilymphatic fistula are generated by the CA when CT scans show any portion of it to be very narrow. A substantial body of evidence points to a deficient partition between the internal auditory canal and inner ear as causative in such cases. We propose that the criteria for the diagnosis of CA enlargement on high-resolution CT scan be a diameter exceeding 2 mm throughout its course from the posterior fossa to the vestibule.
