Resumen
In order to promote information interaction, intelligent regulation, and scale management in Chinese medicines industry, in this paper, a Chinese medicines intelligent service platform with characteristics of flexibility, versatility, and individuation was designed under the guidance of theoretical model of intelligent manufacturing of Chinese medicines (TMIM). TCM-ISP is a comprehensive intelligent service platform that can be flexibly applied to all links of Chinese medicines industry chain, which realizes data integration and real-time transmission as well as intelligent-flexible scheduling of equipment in response to different demand. The platform took logical framework of data flow as the core and adopts the modular design in which microcontroller and sensor module are independent to obtain overall design scheme of TCM-ISP that contains the diagram of overall framework, hardware structure, and software technology. Then, on the groundwork of overall design scheme and modern science technology, TCM-ISP was successfully constructed with flexible, intelligent, and networked characteristics in which TTL-USB and TTL-RS485S were utilized to build unified interface between boards with supporting hot-plugging mode. The results of platform tests show that TCM-ISP can not only successfully realize the integration, real-time transmission, and display of data information but also well accomplish remote intelligent-flexible control of equipment and allow flexible configuration and expansion of sensors and devices according to the needs of each link in TCM’s industry chain. It is of great practical significance to the pursuit of intelligent manufacturing of Chinese medicines and the promotion of modernization of Chinese medicines industry.

Resumen
SUMMARYIn the context of computer-integrated manufacture (CIM), the paper describes the need for flexible “intelligent” machinery and the need for integrated and distributed software. Methodologies in obtaining appropriate solutions are discussed and related to two major SERC sponsored research programmes at Loughborough University, which concern (i) the design of a family of mechanical and control system modules to allow robots to be configured with user defined kinematic and dynamic properties, and (ii) the design of distributed hardware and software structures, based on internationally accepted communication protocols, to allow FAS's to be produced. In batch manufacture today's increased demand for product variety, requiring reduced lead times and work in progress, the need arises for computer-integrated manufacture (CIM). Similarly, in many conventional continuous flow manufacturing processes dramatic improvements in plant efficiency can be achieved by linking shop floor computer systems with computers performing management and design functions.Considerable research and development work has centred on flexible manufacturing systems (FMSs)3−1 which conventionally relate to metal cutting environments. Similarly the labour intensive nature of assembly operations has led to considerable interest in the design of flexible assembly systems.3.4 The principles embodied in FMS and FAS are translatable, being applicable to most manufacturing environments. To achieve flexible integrated manufacturing two major requirements can be identified, viz. (i) the need for flexible “intelligent” machinery, and (ii) the need for integrated but distributed software systems. This paper will consider future trends in (i) and (ii).

Resumen
In the paper, a cloud computing based intelligent scheduling system for manufacturing quality is proposed. Most of scheduling system is only considered producing time but manufacturing quality. It is very important to focus on manufacturing quality for the industry upgrade. The factors of manufacturing quality are product, equipment, material and human. It makes higher cost for scheduling the flexible manufacturing system. So we develop the cloud computing-based intelligent scheduling system by using artificial neural network and optimized layout method for manufacturing quality in the research. The architecture of the intelligent scheduling system contains: (1) Cloud database structure. (2) Intelligent scheduling engine. (3) Real-time human-machine interface. SQL Azure is used as the cloud database for scattering and storing data. And the intelligent scheduling engine contains the intelligent sequence score system of the products, the optimized layout system and the monitoring system of available resources. By using Visual C#, we can program a human-machine interface with real-time data updating. So that we can see real-time scheduling states of manufacturing by the human-machine interface at any time everywhere. We get good performance from the results of the experiment in the intelligent scheduling system considering manufacturing quality. It is important to develop a cloud computing-based intelligent scheduling system for manufacturing quality because of the advantages of production fluency, low cost, just good quality and flexible management.

Resumen
The article considers the process of designing modules of a flexible production site using multi-agent technology. For a comprehensive organization of the design, there has been proposed an algorithm of intelligent automated design of the complex technical systems, flexible manufacture systems (FMS) being used as an example. It has been stated that the research at the stages of the conceptual design of the FMS is carried out by collecting prototype variants with using expert knowledge and interaction of agents-designers according to the method of self-realizing computer aided design. Building a distributed system for the intelligent design of a hybrid architecture using the features of agent technology is considered. A flexible manufacture system is chosen as a design object, which is a complex technical object of research, the process of its design is multi-stage and iterative. To design such systems using a common functional model at the initial stage, a set of tasks is defined to facilitate the computing design of the FMS. This approach to the design of FMS requires implementing the solutions of a large number of local problems of different purposes. To solve the local problems of design procedures there has been proposed a multi-agent design technology, where the agent-designer performs a specific local task of the design process. The developed formalisms and algorithms help automate the synthesis of technical objects of the FMS. To build an automated conceptual design system as main decision-making for the multi-agent systems, there has been proposed a technical solution based on the knowledge of intelligent multi-agent systems. Using a multi-agent system makes it possible to build a distributed parallel design system with ability to be transferred to various hardware and software platforms. There has been also proposed the structure of a multi-agent system for the intelligent computer-aided design based on the designer's knowledge base.

Resumen
The next-generation intelligent smart factory system that is proposed in this paper could improve product quality and realize flexible, efficient, and sustainable product manufacturing by comprehensively improving production and management innovation via its digital network and intelligent methods that reflect the characteristics of its printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing design and on-site implementation. Intelligent manufacturing systems are complex systems that are composed of humans, cyber systems, and physical systems and aim to achieve specific manufacturing goals at an optimized level. Advanced manufacturing technology and next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) are deeply integrated into next-generation intelligent manufacturing (NGIM). Currently, the majority of PCB manufacturers are firms that specialize in processing orders from leading semiconductor and related product manufacturers, such as Samsung Electronics, TSMC, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and LG Electronics. These top companies have been responsible for all product innovation, intelligent services, and system integration, with PCB manufacturers primarily playing a role in intelligent production and system integration. In this study, the main implementation areas were divided into manufacturing execution system (MES) implementation (which could operate the system using system integration), data gathering, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) for production line connection, AI and real-time monitoring, and system implementation that could visualize the collected data. Finally, the prospects of the design and on-site implementation of the next-generation intelligent smart factory system that detects and controls the occurrence of quality and facility abnormalities are presented, based on the implementation system.

Resumen
With the rapid development of intelligent manufacturing and Internet technology, the industrial system has entered a new stage of development. As an indispensable carrier for intelligent manufacturing and industrial development, robots are expanding their applications. Among them, the flexible mechanical arm has the advantages of light weight, low energy consumption and low inertia compared with the bulky rigid mechanical arm, and has been increasingly valued. The flexible manipulator is a very complex dynamic system whose dynamic equations are characterized by nonlinearity, strong coupling and time-varying. Therefore, this paper uses the most common and effective method to establish the dynamic model of the flexible manipulator using the Lagrange equation. Due to the uncertain system parameters, lack of control of the trajectory and the influence of load changes and external disturbances, the flexible manipulator has great uncertainty in its control process, and the traditional control methods have not very good control effect. Based on this, this paper proposes a combination of dynamic pattern recognition theory and flexible joint manipulator intelligent control method for the two-link flexible manipulator, and uses the new GA-RBF neural network closed-loop adaptive control method to achieve high precision. Trajectory tracking ensures stability in a shorter time. The simulation results show that the intelligent joint control method based on dynamic pattern recognition has better trajectory tracking and autonomous fast recognition dynamic mode.

Production engineering and manufacturing industries face difficulties in developing a new paradigm to cope with the post mass-production era. Consumers' preferences change very quickly and vary over a wide range of taste. A product's life cycle becomes shorter than shorter. Thus, rapid prototyping techniques have been requested, and some new concepts on manufacturing have been presented including Flexible Manufacturing System, Factory (or Flexible) Automation, Computer Integrated Manufacturing System, and Concurrent Engineering. After the termination of the cold war, many regional economies combined through international trade and dynamically evolved into global economies. Such change had significant effects on manufacturing industries and consequently on production engineering. As a new paradigm in the post mass-production era, the creation of manufacturing culture has been advocated by Prof. Hiroyuki Yoshikawa, President of University of Tokyo. It contains not only the movement towards standardization of conventional manufacturing knowledge but also the development of a global manufacturing system with use of computerization. At his advocation, the international research project of Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS) was initiated. This bimonthly journal is a special issue on the IMS project and similar topics widely covering intelligent manufacturing systems. The former part of the contents is the description of the IMS project. It consists of the commentary articles quoted from the IMS news and the latest reports of IMS international test cases. The Japan IMS center publishes the IMS news and strongly supports the IMS project itself with collaboration of Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Japan (MITI). The authors of these reports are primarily enrolled in the actual responsibility to promote their projects and newly write the articles for this journal. I would like to thank the IMS center and each author for their contributions to this special issue on the IMS project. The latter part of the contents consists of the articles on the STandard for the Exchange of Product model data (STEP) and some technical papers on manufacturing. A conference report on the 2nd Japan-France Congress on Mechatronics is also provided in this issue. I would like to thank all contributors for their cooperation in creating this special issue. As can be easily seen, this issue focused on the forthcoming advancement on production engineering and manufacturing through the movement of Intelligent Manufacturing Systems. As the editor of this special issue on Intelligent Manufacturing Systems, I hope that the readers pay attention to this new movement and become involved in the near future.

Resumen
An active service architecture called AAS (active service based on acquaintances) for intelligent manufacturing environments was proposed. The proposed architecture exploits stable relation and resourceful nodes, called acquaintances, which perform active services in the manufacturing network. The AAS architecture recognizes node heterogeneity in terms of mobility and capability. We analyze the characteristics of AAS architecture and operations for optimal system performance. By showing that AAS outperforms broadcast-based solutions in manufacturing environments, we validate that AAS is a flexible and adaptable architecture appropriate for dynamic manufacturing environments.

Resumen
With the change of manufacturing mode and the progress of science and technology, the traditional manufacturing industry has gradually developed to intelligent manufacturing and flexible manufacturing. To achieve factory transformation, Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV) is indispensable. In this paper, an AGV trackless guidance technology based on global vision is proposed. Firstly, the global vision camera is used to obtain the image of the AGV driving area, and then the obstacle information and position information of the AGV are obtained by image processing technology. Secondly, the A* algorithm is used to intelligently plan the AGV driving path, and the wireless network communication is used to control the AGV driving according to the planned path. Experiments show that the method is feasible and has the advantages of high flexibility, high precision, low cost and strong expansibility, which is of great significance to the realization of intelligent warehouse and unmanned chemical plant.

A flexible assembly unit for cylindrical battery cells focused on digitization was build up at laboratory scale at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA. Crucial quality criteria of the cell are both total weight and weight distribution of the single components. Drawing conclusion from gravimetric fluctuations requires a fast and precise weight measurement between the processes.

Resumen
This paper describes an intelligent fuzzy decision support system for real-time scheduling and dispatching of parts in a flexible manufacturing system (FMS), with alternative routing possibilities for all parts. A fuzzy logic approach is developed to improve the system performance by considering multiple performance measures and at multiple decision points. The characteristics of the system status, instead of parts, are fed back to assign priority to the parts waiting to be processed. A simulation model is developed and it is shown that the proposed intelligent fuzzy decision support system keeps all performance measures at a good level. The proposed intelligent system is a promising tool for dealing with scheduling FMSs, in contrast to traditional rules.
