Texto completoDuring the late Qing dynasty, a multitude of French engineers embarked on journeys to various regions of the Chinese Empire, assuming diverse and evolving roles in Franco-Chinese relations. Despite their diverse backgrounds, they were typically youthful and shared some common professional traits. They often enjoyed substantial compensation and prestigious honors throughout their careers, leading to remarkable upward social mobility. Their numbers witnessed significant growth from the mid-19th to the early 20th century. Initially, military engineers held dominance, but they gradually ceded ground to engineers from the state civil corps and civilian engineers who assumed multifaceted roles in commerce and industry. Concurrently, many military engineers entered private commercial ventures, which were expanding and diversifying. The enduring presence of French engineers in China was predominantly composed of civil engineers, drawn by factors such as marriage, religion and culture. Within the Chinese Empire, France leveraged its technical expertise to compete with other industrial powers. These engineers accomplished impressive infrastructural projects within the Chinese Empire, leaving behind them a rich historical legacy. Although not always synonymous with economic success, their achievements showcased both their technical expertise and the technological prowess of the French industrial landscape during the 19th and 20th centuries. Their written works, encompassing reports, blueprints, narratives, and familial correspondences, alongside photographic records and archives they amassed, serve as invaluable resources for historical research. Texto completoThe french diplomatic and consular corps in China from 1840 to1911 > presents a global vision of the french diplomats and consuls at the different positions they occupied from the middle of the 19 th century to the biginning of the 20 th century. This évolution is divided in three chronological parts. " The epic " from 1840 to the end of 1870 years, " The expansion " from the advent of the Third Républic to 1900, " The crisis time " from 1900 to the 1911 Révolution. In each of these parts, the evolution is analyzed under three different aspects. An historic aspect describes the action of the french ministry agents through the different events from the emperor Daoguang's reign until the collaps of Qing and the advent of the Third Republic. An geographic aspect shows the progressive settlement of the consulates and vice-consulates in China. An sociologic aspect describes the évolution of the diplomatic and consular careers specifically applied to China, as well as the evolution of the living conditions in this country. Texto completoThe Quebec Jesuits were given the Chinese mission of Xuzhou by the Holy See in 1931. They were supported by many French Canadian donors convinced of the importance of missionary causes. A museum of Chinese arts and the missionary review Le Brigand were the principal publicity of their activities in China. From June 1931 to August 1950, more than 1.1 million of Canadian dollars were given to the Church of Xuzhou by the Procure des Missions Étrangères de Chine, a Jesuit institution founded at Quebec to fund the mission. Poverty, climate instability and political insecurity maintained the Catholic community of Xuzhou in a state of dependence towards the French Canadian Church's generosity. Prioritizing the financing of the schools of the Church of Xuzhou, the Quebec Jesuits trained few Chinese priests before their exile of China by the Chinese Communist Party, starting in 1949.

This discovery was made possible by the country's existing pedagogical structure, which had been established by painters of the reform movement or Shanghai school. In very little time, these artists came to dominate the artistic scene in china. In the Shanghai of the early 1930s, the world of modern Chinese art comprised various circles made up of the disciples of three art schools: the fine arts department of the University of Nanjing, headed by Xu Bei-Hong; the Shanghai fine arts school, directed by Liu Hai-Su; and the Hangzhou fine arts school, directed by Lin Feng-Mian. Xu, inspired by western realism, rationalized traditional Chinese painting and created an easily accessible style. Liu was the first to introduce the nude to Chinese students of western art, a genuine "artistic revolution". Lin redefined Chinese artistic concepts. He wrote many essays in the aim of propagating his theories, and devoted his life to working to fulfill his own personal dream: that of blending Chinese and western painting styles. It analyses its interactions between the Catholic world and the political authorities, Chinese and Foreign. Within a short period of existence, how did the school write its pages of history? Texto completoBy its short form and its fascinating content, the French fantastic short story proves itself particularly appropriate to the class of FLE. However, it doesn’t play any role in French teaching in the Chinese universities. This research aims to propose to Chinese teachers of French the introduction of some French fantastic short stories in the class of FLE and to give them some ideas for working with these texts. In this perspective, we try to investigate in the present thesis the fantastic works of some French authors, among them Maupassant, Barbey d’Aurevilly, Villiers de L’Isle-Adam, Jean Lorrain, Marcel Schwob, Apollinaire, in order to sketch a poetics of the French fantastic short story at the turn of the XIXe and XXe centuries and to establish a teaching methodology of fantastic texts in the class of FLE. We consider that teaching activities should be organized for the purpose of the acquisition of linguistic, cultural competence and the fostering of the intercultural competence of the Chinese learners of French
