Texto completoThe transformations in contemporary society involving all professions, from the traditional to the most innovative and recent. social professions, in particular the profession of extra-school educator is the main protagonist of this ridefintion process. Because in this phase will open new spaces to think, to review and to retrain this profession in the workplace and in the society. These processes moreover outlining a new framework in which users are no longer the subject of the intervention, but they are free to choose those to be assisted by increasing their power and reducing the asymmetry with service and its professionals, so we see the transition to an individualized service. The evolution of the services system, the changes and the emergence of new social needs are pressure to rethink the profession of extra-school educator. This paper aims at providing some tentative answers and clarifications about the profession of the extra-school educator. It isn't clear its tasks. In Italy this is a profession in the process of official recognition, since there isn't register or rules that regulate the access or rights. Finally there isn't clarity about the training. For these reasons there is a need to understand what, how and in what direction it has expanded the range of skills and practices of the extra-school educator. The aim is to give a summary of the profession, analyzing the current scene and noting how this figure has changed and where possible will come in the future. This three years research has a double target: to retrace the history and legislation about the profession of the extra-school educator and the social services; and submit the perception about the role and the practices of this profession, that works with different users in Trento.

Texto completoThis thesis aims to explore how accounting, measuring and governance practices can contribute to maintaining the multiple identities of hybrid organisations. Hybrids, combining multiple forms and identities, deviate from each, resulting in internal and external tensions between the forms and identities they combine (Greenwood et al., 2011; Kraatz & Block, 2008). Therefore, they need to maintain their hybrid nature to pursue their hybrid mission (Battilana et al., 2017). To do this, hybrids must prevent a shift toward a single identity or form and maintain multiplicity at the core of their processes. Because of these challenges, hybrid organisations must develop organisational systems that ensure the ongoing coexistence of a multiplicity of identities and forms to maintain their hybrid nature over time (Kastberg & Lagström, 2019; Mair et al., 2015). Therefore, this thesis explores accounting, measurement and governance issues in hybrids and how these can support maintaining an equilibrium between controversial identities and forms. The thesis is composed of three different contributions.

Texto completoAdvances in digital-based technologies have allowed subjects to interact in environments other than physical ones causing changes in communication modalities. Microsoft HoloLens (MHL) introduced the possibility of experiencing a new digital environment: pure mixed reality. This work consists of an interdisciplinary methodological proposal to study synchronous communication and the making of identity in it when MHL is used. To respect the phenomenon’s ontological complexity, I combined two perspectives in this work: multimodality and social psychology of cyberplaces. The adoption of these perspectives reduced the phenomenon in a research object called communicative (inter)action. To study it, I elaborated a methodological proposal that combines two qualitative methods: multimodal (inter)action analysis (MIA; from multimodality) and analysis of conversations (AC; from social psychology of cyberplaces). To examine the making of identity in communicative (inter)action, I enriched the methodological proposal with a theoretical model proposal. The theoretical model proposal is a model that I called intersubjectivity model derived from: MIA framework on multimodal identity from multimodality and utterance intersubjectivity model from social psychology of cyberplaces. The line of argument was supported by analysis examples using a corpus of 16 videotaped dyadic communicative (inter)actions. Each dyad had one subject using MHL and another using a pc.

Texto completoThis work is focused on the identity process among adolescents and young adults internationally adopted and their well-being. The four studies that compose this dissertation are characterize by the quantitative approach and the assumption of a family perspective. The first study explore well-being, ethnic identity, family relations and the perception of social context among adoptees and their parents. The second study identifies a type of identity of adoptees for different patterns of ethnic identification and national. The type of adoptees shows differences with respect to the quality of family relations, well-being and multiple motives on identity construction. The third study develops a model of the explanatory factors determining the adoptees well-being; it confirms the influence of some family and social variables on identity processes and assess whether adoptees’ identity is related to psychosocial well-being. The fourth study is focused on the perception of cultural socialization and discrimination as predictors of ethnic identity in Italy and the USA, highlighting common aspects and specific cultural differences. The results show that family relations and the degree of integration between two cultural identities are important protective factors for psychosocial adjustment and well-being of adoptees. Parents play a vital role in supporting this process through cultural socialization strategies.

Texto completoThe present work takes on the topic of authenticity among emerging adults, reflecting in particular on the ties between authenticity and identity development and on the role of the family context in supporting authentic functioning and individual well-being. Defining one’s identity is a complex task for the emerging adult who faces it, in particular in the modern social context, which is characterized by a multitude of identity possibilities to be selected and integrated. Emerging adults are called to make choices and in this context this is on one hand a stimulating challenge, on the other a source of considerable distress. Moreover, the quality of questions which guide exploration in this phase brings about confrontation with one’s knowledge and awareness of one’s own Self, highlighting matters of authenticity of the individual and of the identity that is being built. Although there is broad theoretical literature and growing empirical studies on the concept of authenticity, its definition and its implications for personal well-being, scarce attention has been dedicated to the relationship between authenticity and identity, despite the strong theoretical link between the two constructs. Moving from these considerations, the first part of the present work is dedicated to the relationship between authenticity and identity in emerging adults. The concepts of emerging adulthood, identity formation and authenticity are defined thoroughly, the latter starting from its history in philosophical and psychological thinking. Following, a first empirical study presents an analysis of the connections between authenticity and identity formation in emerging adulthood and confronts two different analytical approaches, underlining potential advantages of a person centered statistical approach. The second part of the essay turns its attention towards the elements of the social context, particularly the family context, able to support an authentic development and functioning. Indeed, theoretical and empirical literature converge in suggesting that elements of unconditional acceptance, autonomy support and warmth in the relationships with one’s parents are fundamental for the development of awareness and autonomy, central elements in the definition of authenticity, as well as for sustaining individual well-being also in emerging adulthood. Following an exposition of the main theoretical formulations and empirical contributes on the subject, the results of two empirical studies are presented. The first study verifies the goodness of a model which sees authenticity as a mediator in the relationship between the aforesaid characteristics of the relationship with parents and god psychological adjustment in emerging adult children. The second study considers dyads formed by parents and emerging adult children and it focuses on the links between characteristics of the relationship, parents’ authenticity and children’s authenticity, taking into account possible differences in maternal and paternal dyads. Results of presented works highlight importance of promoting an authentic functioning, especially in the component relative to one’s Self awareness, relative to identity formation in emerging adults. They also underline the relevance of significative relationships characterized by warmth, closeness and acceptance to sustain authenticity and well-being of youth in this developmental phase.

The first study is about new Identity positions and self congruence. Participants report that their identities are different from each other and their Self; at identity level they report that their identities change over time, but their sle f congruence does not. The second research is focused on the link between utterance subjectivity and construction of coherency in narrations. Nine blogs were analyzed and results show that bloggers express their subjectivity differently in each post, and thank to narrative processes (coherence and reflexivity) and to enunciation they can make sense of their own experiences. The third research here presented studies the processes that underlies the creation of intersubjectivity in a group working online and face to face. Results show that intersubjective results of interactions change over time, but there is isomorphism between the processes of creating intersubjectivity online and face to face.

Texto completoThis thesis analyzes the epigraphic sources relating to the artisans and merchants of Rome (1st century BC - III century AD), active in particularly prestigious and remunerative economic sectors such as luxury clothing, cosmetics and jewellery (Chapter I). At the center of the investigation are therefore aurifices, gemmarii, margaritarii, plumarii, purpurarii, sericarii, unguentarii and many other professionals active in Rome in the production and trade of exclusive goods (Chapter II). The aim of this work is to highlight the value of epigraphy as an expression of the forma mentis of a social category: in particular, the primary objective of the research is to highlight the meaning of the epigraphic recording of work, which in the Roman world constitutes the main factor in the economic and social ascent of individuals and families, in spite of the predominantly negative conception of craftsmanship and retail trade, activities that were repeatedly condemned by aristocratic moralistic literature (Chapter III).

In the first part, the respective phenomenology and historical framework of the migration’ events (1990-2010) are reconstructed in order to explore their delineating features. Besides, the contemporary Albanian society’s background (1985-2010) is studied with the purpose of compounding an integral view of the intersected trajectories of the Albanians in the history of their land of origin/of emigration, before their arrival in their land of immigration. The second part of this thesis includes the fieldworks’ results related to the social question of the different Albanian focus groups examined in Venetian region and Albania, compatible with the transnational vision of migration as a double social fact that concerns the researches conducted in either the emigration or the immigration contexts of the migrant. The third part of the study is concerned with the exported, evolved or transformed aspects of Albanian culture in the observed subjects, with particular attention to the second generation’ Albanians. In the fourth part, the linguistic productions of the second generation’ Albanians are analysed in order to verify the difficulties of preservation of the Albanian language, the differentiated linguistic practises of L1 and L2 (bilingual mode and code-switching) in the respective domains (social or family).

Texto completoThe spread of the Internet and the simultaneous development of Web 2.0 have led to the emergence of a digital presence for internet users which is an extension of the identities of the Internet users. In the Internet, identity is characterized by various highly patterns of self-expression on the social networks websites and on Facebook in particular. Simultaneously, the emancipation of the individual from traditional social frameworks leads that individual to construct and re-shape his or her identity which is now seen as a process of identity construction based on a search for benchmarks and relationships. The results show that in the context of brand - fan interactions, social networks websites allow new spaces for individual and collective expression that are implementing unprecedented social groups and coconstruction process. By relating distant fans, the multiplication of such links creates a social identity that can be described as "digital" and a particular form of digital capital. Through their interactions, the fans contribute to the maintenance of this capital. Fan pages and become a shared social territory, a space for co-building and their identity but also a place of confrontation identity for the fans. Depending on the brand they are fans, individuals have tendencies to intra- groupal or intergroupal comparisons

Texto completoThe goal of the research proposed in this thesis, is to enforce the links between socialrepresentation theory and social identity theory in the regional geographical area context.Precisely, we wanted to put in evidence the identity processes involved into the social representation of the regional identity. Based on our experiments, we have found two main concepts based on social representation dynamics. First, we proved the existence of endogroupes identytites inside social representation of regional identity. Second, we show the existence of inter-group differenciation of the social representation of the regional identity. The endogroupe and intergroup regional identities build the basement of the social reprensentations of the regionalidentities. Finally, as we have been able to deduct that the social representations of the regional identities are absed on these two types of representation, we have determined if the outside point of view of a region, is based on the endo-group identity or the inter-group differenciations of the social representation

Texto completoThe thesis explores the theme of multifunctionality applied to agriculture as a means to reactivate the abandoned territory, degraded, at the risk of misuse or new construction. Agriculture has always had a fundamental relationship with the man and with the settlements. The relationship between urban and agricultural areas has been a relationship of union and opposition. In the transition from subsistence farming to intensive and specialized agriculture, have been involved spaces, techniques, tools, architectures related to agricultural activity and, finally, the relationship with the land. Agriculture, although produce essential goods, in the past decades has been considered a secondary element for economic reasons. There are clear cultural, scenic, ecological, social and economic values of agriculture but this is becoming less profitable and today agriculture is in serious difficulties involving the production, the sustainability , the role of the landscape and the social issues. The difficulties of agriculture also cause the inability of the areas to "defend" itself from the logic of land rent and use linked to immediate profit, as occurs in case of energy plants from renewable sources. All these issues should make territory planner to be careful so that he can find tools to enhance the potential of the agricultural areas. Clearly, the causes are not only economic but also linked to cultural patterns and lifestyles. Addressing the issues of rural areas, their productivity, land use and misuse, it is necessary to carry out a proper planning and sustainable points of view: not only the economic, ecological, historical and social but all of these together. The thesis explores the different European policies adopted to curb the crisis of agriculture. Studies and European documents identify the principle of multifunctionality in agriculture the tool to make the strongest agricultural land. Is useful to investigate, therefore, on the relationship between multifunctional agriculture and regional planning. In particular, we wanted to focus attention on the social aspects as a form of revitalization of the territory and, therefore, on agriculture as a service and social activity that creates cohesion. The questions that the research has set are two: multifunctional agricultural activities and their declination in particular social ones, can be a tool for economic revitalization, cultural and social development of rural areas, periurban and urban areas in a state of abandonment, deterioration, at the risk of misuse or new construction? Through what instrument or instruments such as the regional planning can use and exploit the potential of multifunctional agriculture? To answer these two questions we can't overlook the fact that, from the point of view of spatial and economic, agriculture is measurable in a relatively simple way. It is more difficult to measure the social aspects of the landscape and, therefore, need to refer to the qualitative analysis systems. In addition, the social farming purposes have rehabilitative, educational and business purposes but also related to spatial planning (environmental, economic, historical, cultural and social) and this has greatly been taken into consideration. Another aspect analyzed is the different European approaches to the forms of multifunctional and social agriculture, in the Italian context, and it investigates national and regional instruments that enhance agricultural activities multifunctional. It also explores the relationship between particular forms of social agriculture and areas confiscated from organized crime. The review of examples of multifunctional activities and the deepening of the case studies selected, showing how forms of multifunctional agriculture can revitalize the rural areas, periurban and urban areas. Finally, we arrive at the proposal of actions related to the integration of tools of territorial government, the integration of policies with traditional instruments, the spatial logic necessary to enable the potential of multifunctional agriculture can be considered service to the area and inhabitant.

However, the introduction of the PCM may have a profound impact on the social organisation of work, changing lines of demarcation, challenging well established inter-/intra-professional relationships, and prompting the development of new roles and modes of working. This thesis explores the mutual effects between the new organisational model and the pre-existent social organisation of hospital work. The research design is organised in three phases: an extensive document analysis; an interview study; an in-depth ethnographic case study conducted for over one year in a PCM hospital. The findings are organised in three studies. The first shows that the PCM was interpreted differently by hospital managers and by frontline clinicians, thus giving rise to two divergent narratives of change. The second study focuses on the boundaries to collaboration and care integration in newly created hospital teams within PCM hospitals. The third study looks at the impact of the PCM on the medical-nursing boundary. The thesis contributes to management learning and practice by providing recommendations on how to accompany complex innovations, comprising of both their expected and unexpected consequences. It also enriches academic debates on professional boundaries, relations, and identities in healthcare.

Results indicated that religious identity is mainly categorized at a social level by European respondents and at an individual level by nonwestern respondents, and that both levels are central in personal identity. Study 2 addressed the familiar and group antecedents of religious internalization (Ryan, Rigby, & King, 1993; Assor, 2012). Findings showed that parental autonomy support and intrinsic value demonstration predicted children religious identification, whereas conditional regard predicted introjection; religious leaders and groups also influenced religious internalization. Study 3 investigated the relationship between religious internalization and prejudice towards Muslims, analyzing the mediating role of values. Results indicated that identificated religious identity is associated with lower levels of prejudice than introjected religious identity; prosocial values mediated between identification and prejudice, whereas conformity values mediated between introjection and prejudice.

Texto completoThis doctoral work is based on the hierarchical social organization of tennis players. The ai mis to observe the effects of this hierarchical structure, on the social representations that groups of players have about tennis. The positionning of an individual, or a groupe within a social structure, has an impact on the way it is perceived and how he perceided himself. This perception results from a process of social comparison. This positionning also has an impact on the identification of individuals. Three studies are conducted. The first is interested in the perception of the organization of the social matrix of tennis by the players. It highlights the existence of different groups of practices : from leisure tennis player, to the professional tennis players and their positioning within the matrix. It also explore the identification to the group, according to the positioning within the matrix, and measures the representation that those groupes of players, have of tennis. The second stydu open the social matrix, by questioning a group composed of athletes whose discipline is not tennis. The goal is to question certain results observed during the first study, and more particulary to evaluate the impact of the level variable. The third and final study uses two confirmatory methods. It focused on the representation of tennis among the target groupes (High Level, Competition, Leisure). It aims to highlight the effects of identification with the group on the content but also on the structure of the social representation. In conclusion, we consider the implications of our results in the framework of the theory of social representations. We emphasize the interest of defining the structure of the social matrix (hierarchical) and the positioning of the groups to apprehend social representation

Texto completoSelf-enhancement is a self-motive which pushes individuals to increase positive self-views and to protect their self-concept from negative information. Two mechanisms associated with the self-enhancement motive, positive illusions and the self-serving bias, will be analyzed in the context of couple relationship. Positive illusions deal with the tendency to perceive one’s relationship favorably when compared to the couple relationship of the average other. The self-serving bias relates to the tendency to make internal responsibility attributions for positive events but to make external responsibility attributions for negative events; however, when individuals collaborate with a close partner on an interdependent-outcome task, they refrain from self-serving attributions or even manifest the other-serving bias. These mechanisms serve the purpose of maintaining and protecting a relationship that is central in one’s couple identity. The present work will also focus on the influence that an insidious parental behavior like intrusive parenting exerts on these two biases pro-relationship and, consequently, on couple identity. Study 1 and 2 are dedicated to the examination of couple positive illusions in couples in transition to marriage whereas study 3 investigates the self-serving bias in dating partners.

Texto completoThe observation of Jahoda (1988) about the lack of test of the theory of social representations remains relevant about the identity features of SRs. This PhD thesis is particularly interested in the role of these representations in the affiliation to the group. In this perspective, it takes place at the articulation between the structural approach to social representations and the social identity perspective. Twelve studies test different hypotheses in the framework of this articulation. Studies 1a (N = 324) and 1b (N = 268) are interested in the potential effect of the structure of social representations on group identification. Studies 2, 3a and b, 4a and b (from N = 143 to N = 358) are interested in the potential role of SRs in the recognition of group members and in their prototypicality. Studies 3a and b, 4a and b, 5a and b (from N = 161 to N = 358) explore the social value of social representations. Finally, studies 6a, b and c (from N = 49 to N = 52) deal with perceived sharedness in the structural approach to social representations. The consequences for the theory of social representations of theinconsistent results observed are discussed in the light of Popper’s and Lakatos’ epistemological considerations. Different research perspectives are also presented, some being accompanied of empirical studies

Texto completoHow to explain variations in the level of donation in comparable countries? In all industrialized countries, the economic crisis of the 1980s encouraged the search for alternatives to the welfare state by encouraging third sector organizations to play a greater role in a partnership for the definition and implementation of public policies.Among Third sector organizations, philanthropic foundations provide a legal framework that allows people who wish to carry out acts of generosity by allocating a part of their personal wealth in the form of gift, for the purpose of general interest. Giving can be considered as a concrete expression of the cooperation between citizens for the common good. All democratic countries try to promote giving. The conventional explanations of the variation in level of gift among developed countries do not consider the gift as a social fact. We argue that the level of giving can't be explained by the sum of individual gifts that each respond to personal motives but by the state of the society whose cohesion is determined to both by the presence of social capital and the representation of identities.Social capital can be understood as " relationships, networks and norms that facilitate collective action." Social capital refers to relations that individuals establish them in social networks and the norms of reciprocity that arise from these relationships. This thesis is focused, first, on the level of social capital in economically developed countries and secondly on the meaning of the gift as a mode of representation of identity. It helps define social capital theory by highlighting the close relationship that unites the concept of the gift and hence the construction of identities. This analysis of the relationship between gift, identity ans social capital has direct implications for research in the field of civil society. Civil society is presented from two different perspectives. The first perspective, in a North American tradition, determines the Third sector to the sole condition of "non profit" sector. The second perspective, in an European tradition, consider social economy with organizations or enterprises within both profit and non-profit sector. These organizations and entreprises mix in their actions a plurality of economic logics.Based on the analysis of Polanyi on the embedding of the economy and its various forms of integration, associated with the Maussian logic of the gift, we try to shed light on the socio-economic dimension, or political dimension, of social economy. Social economy can be seen as a "gift economy", understood as a plural economy. Finally, the New Economic Sociology offers both an analysis of the reticular economy based on the presence and density of interpersonal ties and a cultural analysis of the economy that connects markets to values. It is possible to understand the social economy as a “social capital economy". Social capital is understood as an organizational factor and a meaning

We used a method of qualitative interview, by letting youths discuss the issue in a group, with consideration to our questions about behavior, participation, and self-image. The results showed that the respondents saw an impact on youths identity and social interaction. In social media youths wants to show themselves as perfect, with an expensive lifestyle and healthy habits. The participants saw this as a problem, causing stress and anxiety, the negative affection is on the other hand only one side of it all, and social media is of great importance in the life of youths.

Texto completoThe present dissertation studies three social determinants of economic decisions: Social Identity, Social Image, and Social preferences. The first chapter reports on an experiment testing the effect of upward social mobility on interpersonal trust. Individuals are characterized both by a natural group identity and by a status awarded by means of relative performance in a task in which natural identities strongly predict performance. Upward mobility is characterized by the access to the high status of individuals belonging to the natural group associated with a lower expected performance. We find that socially mobile individuals trust less than those who are not socially mobile, both when the trustee belongs to the same natural group or to the other natural group. In contrast, upward mobility does not affect trustworthiness. We find no evidence that interacting with an upwardly mobile individual impacts trust or trustworthiness. In the second chapter, we test whether individuals internalize the effects of their behavior on the social image of their group. In our experiment, we recruit pairs of real-life friends and study whether misreporting decreases when it may have negative spillovers on the image of the friend. We find that participants hurt their friends' social image by misreporting: external observers update their beliefs and rightfully expect that a participant whose friend misreported is likely to misreport himself. However, participants misreport as often when their behavior can hurt the friend's image as when it cannot, even though hurting their friends' image reduces their own monetary gains. Our interpretation is that they underestimate the impact of their behavior on external observers' beliefs about their friends. Our results show that, even in our case where group membership is salient, groups might have difficulties building a good image. The good news is that external observers may use image spillovers to update their beliefs and interact with members of groups more efficiently. In the third chapter, we experimentally test whether the salience of counter-factual payoffs impacts generosity. Participants first perform a real-effort task for a fixed wage, and then play a dictator game. Between conditions, we vary the level and the timing of the revelation of the wage. In some conditions, participants know the wage before the real effort task, and are not informed of the other potential levels. In some other conditions, they are informed of the distribution of the wages before the real effort task, but the actual wage is only revealed afterward. Our hypothesis is that participants in the latter conditions evaluate their actual wage relative to the other potential levels, which in turns impact their transfers in the subsequent dictator game. The results support this hypothesis: participants who get a the high wage tend to transfer more when they are informed of the other potential levels than when they are not. Symmetrically, participants who get the low wage tend to transfer less when they are informed of the other potential levels than when they are not

Texto completoFor a few years, many factors, such as the burden of training, are considered to be linked to the athletes’ difficulties to get used to training. The fatigue is one of the perceived problems by the athletes. Physiologically, the fatigue can be defined as “the decrease of a muscle’s capacity over time to exert force or power during a given exercise”. However, from the social point of view, the interpretation of fatigue is different and varies according to the social groups. This representation of the fatigue, specific to each group, should be considered as “a form of knowledge, socially developed and shared. In this doctoral thesis, we focus on the representation of fatigue in France and in Syria, more precisely on the social representation of being fatigued (worn out/tired/exhausted) among athletes and non-athletes in these two countries. The form of social knowledge of fatigue is approached via theories related to the physiological fatigue, the social categorization and in particular, via the theories of social identity and social representation. After the construction of the theoretical framework, six studies have been carried out in order to ascertain the representation of fatigue in each group of the two countries. The first two studies sought to highlight the elements of the social representation of fatigue in the French and Arabic dictionary. In the field of sports, low fatigue and better physical shape remain more to the athletes benefit then the non-practicing sport group. That why athletes seek to establish a favorable social position in their group by using social categorization. In the following research, four of the studies are interested in the representation of fatigue from two groups coming from two differents countries. Results using our ‘RepMut’ tool allow us to see that the representation of fatigue is different depending on the social group interviewed (sports, non-sport) and the country of origin of its members (France, Syria). In France, it appears that on a categorical level, only athletes are able to position themselves satisfactorily in the case of fatigue only, while in Syria the athletes are able to position themselves satisfactorily in the cases of fatigue and well being
