Resumen

The effects of carteolol 2% and a fixed combination of carteolol 2% and pilocarpine 2% (CBS 341 A) eye-drops on intraocular pressure (I.O.P.) were compared in a multicenter double-blind, cross-over prospective trial. Twenty-eight patients were initially selected after at least three weeks of carteolol 2%, with a morning I.O.P. greater than 21-mmHg. They received 2 drops a day (b.i.d.), in a random order, alternating two weeks of carteolol 2% alone or two weeks of CBS 341 A. After each two-week period a 12-h I.O.P. curve was plotted. Compared to carteolol the combination reduced I.O.P. on average by around 20% (4 mmHg), with maximum effect 4h after instillation. The effectiveness was confirmed after twelve hours. Some side effects were reported with CBS 341 A, due to the well known pharmacological effects of pilocarpine. The new combination could be useful for second-line therapy in glaucoma.

Background: Glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness world wide and 22.5 million people are estimated to suffer from it. Open angle glaucoma is more prevalent form of glaucoma than closed angle glaucoma blindness can be avoided if glaucoma treated early. Objectives: There are many factors associated with open angle glaucoma this study is performed to assess The most important factors that associated with open angle glaucoma among Iraqi patients who had glaucoma attending AL-Yarmook teaching hospital Methods: Across sectional study was conducted at AL-Yarmook hospital in Baghdad from October 2013 till June 2014 one hundred fifty 150 glaucomatous patients age >35 years both sexes were included in this study .open Angle glaucoma was diagnosed by ophthalmologist depending on the American Academy of Ophthalmology 2012 the data were obtained by using an interview questionnaire that was applied to patient with open angle glaucoma. The data include the age, sex. family history and clinical data which include intra ocular pressure ,Myopia, smoking, history of hypertension, diabetes and using systemic drugs as corticosteroid the data was analyzed by SPSS. Results: The study included 150 patients with open angle glaucoma. almost half of the patients were above 65 years, the rate of open angle glaucoma is more in those who have I.O.P.>20 mm Hg (92%) ,myopia 65%family history72%, history of hypertension 63%, history of diabetes 53%,history of taking steroid 59% and smoking 52%. Open angle glaucoma was significantly associated with intra ocular pressure 0.0001, myopia P0.001, family history 0.0005, history of hypertension 0.001, and history of taking steroid 0.01. it show that there is no significant association with history of diabetes and smoking (P 0.1,0.2 ) respectively. Conclusion: This study show that old age, intra ocular pressure, Myopia, family history, history of hypertension and history of taking steroid are risk factors for open angle glaucoma. Recommendation: education of the people about risk factor associated with glaucoma and routine checking of I.O.P for old age and patients with hypertension and diabetic

Resumen

The role of I.S.P. or Intermediary is very important for effective utilization of information technology. The liability of Intermediary or I.S.P. has gain immense importance at international level. Various countries have defined the liability of I.S.P. either in the form of copyright infringement or for the infringement of information technology. Australia was the first country to enact the legislation relating to the liability aspect of I.S.P. in the form of Copyright Act, 1968 making I.S.P. liable to disable the access to online services hosted outside Australia. Some safe harbors were also provided for I.S.P. as part of the Australia - United States Free Trade Agreement. The US provides for the liability of ISP in the form of Communications Decency Act, 1996, Digital Millennium Copyright Act,1998. Title II of the D.M.C.A. specifically deals with the issue of I.S.P. liability and also provides for the penalties for unauthorized access to a copyright work. As regarding the legislations of Canada, it does not specifically defines the liability of I.S.P., instead it provides safe harbor for those ISP’s providing any means for Internet access. I.S.P.’s are also protected for copyright infringement in Canada. In Singapore the liability of I.S.P. is regulated by the Internet class license and Internet code of Practice which requires the I.S.P. to abide by the conditions of license. I.S.P.’s are also restricted to make public access of those websites which contain offensive content harmful to national interest. Japan’s Copyright Act, 1970, The Provider Liability Limitation Law 2002 protects the I.S.P. against any kind of liability for Copyright infringement. UK enacted two legislations in form of Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 Digital Economy Act 2010 which imposes the obligations on ISP to notify the infringement to its subscribers, also liable to take technical measures to terminate the Internet services after reporting of infringement. The countries also make the provisions for the penalties for offences relating to the infringement of copyright or unauthorized access of information by various I.S.P.’s or Intermediaries. The quantum of punishment is differed in every country according to the nature of offence.

Resumen

La experiencia nos permite aconsejar el procedimiento quirúrgico más adecuado en caso de I.O.E.; con este fin proponemos la siguiente clasificación: 1.- I.O.E. acompañada de uretrocele o cisto-uretrocele, casos los más frecuentes. 2.- I.O.E. como resultado de un trauma quirúrgico u obstétrico, sin uretrocele ni cisto-uretrocele. 3.- I.O.E. acompañada de prolapso genital. 4.- I.O.E. acompañada de patología tumoral uterina o de anexos. 5.- I.O.E. en pacientes a quienes anteriormente se le practicó histerectomía total o sub-total. 6.- I.O.E. en pacientes nulíparas. En el Grupo N° 1, con I.O.E. leve, la conducta consiste en el simple plegamiento de la fascia pubo-vésico-cervical de resultados excelentes. Si la I.O.E. es grave, preferimos los procedimientos combinados (Técnicas de Goebell - Stoeckel o de Marshall-Marchetti). En el Grupo N° 2, movilizamos la uretra por vía vaginal y se termina la cura con intervención combinada. En el Grupo N° 3 tratamos el prolapso con plicatura de fascia o bien procedemos a la histerectomía vaginal con la técnica de Campbell modificada con plicatura de fascia. En el Grupo N° 4 corregimos la l.O.E. por vía alta con la técnica de Goebell-Stoeckel modificada con buenos resultados. Si la paciente tiene además cisto-uretrocele, corregimos éste. En el Grupo N° 5 las técnicas combinadas dan buenos resultados. En el Grupo N° 6; en los casos leves con plicatura se obtiene buenos resultados. En los casos graves preferimos la técnica de Goebell-Stoeckel modificada o la de Marshall-Marchetti.

Resumen

Bob Smillie, a volunteer with the Independent Labour Party (I.L.P.) contingent in the Spanish Civil War, died while held prisoner by the Republican side in Valencia in June 1937. His death, officially due to appendicitis, has been consistently treated as suspicious, not least by his comrade-in-arms George Orwell in Homage to Catalonia. This article re-examines the circumstances surrounding Smillie's death, using the papers of the I.L.P. businessman David Murray who was in Spain attempting to secure his release. Murray accepted the ‘official version’ of Smillie's death by natural causes – and defended it doggedly within I.L.P. circles – despite those who advanced views to the contrary. The article examines Murray's evidence in reaching his conclusions, and concludes that the I.L.P.'s response to Smillie's death reveals much about its precarious position within British politics in the late 1930s.

ABSTRACTThe leading Fabians held different versions of permeation: Shaw saw permeation in terms of weaning the Radicals away from the Liberal party, so he favoured an independent party; Webb defined permeation in terms of the giving of expert advice to a political elite without any need for a new party. These varieties of permeation can be traced in the individual and collective actions of the Fabians, and, in particular, in their attitude to the formation of the Independent Labour party (I.L.P.). The Fabians did not simply promote the I.L.P. nor did they simply oppose the I.L.P.

A simple proof of the fact that each rank-one infinite measure preserving (i.m.p.) transformation is subsequence weakly rationally ergodic is found. Some classes of funny rank-one i.m.p. actions of Abelian groups are shown to be subsequence weakly rationally ergodic. A constructive definition of finite funny rank for actions of arbitrary infinite countable groups is given. It is shown that the ergodic i.m.p. transformations of balanced finite funny rank are subsequence weakly rationally ergodic. It is shown that the ergodic probability preserving transformations of exact finite rank, the ergodic Bratteli–Vershik maps corresponding to the ‘consecutively ordered’ Bratteli diagrams of finite rank, some their generalizations and the ergodic interval exchange transformations are partially rigid.

Resumen

OBJETIVO: Determinar la tasa de mortalidad materna reciente en el I.M.P., estudiar sus características y compararlas con el quinquenio anterior en la misma institución. DISEÑO: Estudio descriptivo simple retrospectivo de todos los casos de muerte materna (73) en el I.M.P. entre 1991 y 1995. RESULTADOS: La tasa de mortalidad en el I.M.P. es de 62,9 por 100,000 nv. La principal causa de muerte es el aborto séptico (23,3%). La segunda causa corresponde a las enfermedades hipertensivas con 13 casos (17,8%). En tercer lugar con 12 casos las hermorragias (16,4%). Las causas obstétricas indirectas (21,9%), tienen un buen porcentaje de tuberculosis. Cuarenta y seis pacientes fallecieron antes de las 48 horas de permanencia (63%). CONCLUSIONES: La tasa de mortalidad ha disminuido ligeramente en relación al quinquenio anterior, en 1994 y 1995 alcanzó tasas de 35,8 y 48,3 por 100,000 n.v. Las causas prevenibles superan la mitad de los casos y, en este sentido, se debe tomar las medidas correctivas.

Resumen

Alguns procedimentos descritos na literatura (ultrasom, água destilada, NaOH, TRITON x 100 e congelamento-descongelamenao) foram avaliados determinando o melhor extrato antigênico para a reação de hemaglutinação indireta (RHI) no diagnóstico sorológico da doença de Chagas. Para isso, foram ensaiados 30 soros de indivíduos chagásicos e 30 soros de indivíduos não chagásicos. A reação de imuno-fluorescência indireta foi considerada como reação de referência no cálculo dos indices de co-positividade (i.c.p.) e co-negatividade (i.cn.). O valor do i.c.p, para a RHI com antígeno obtido por NaOH foi mais elevado do que para os outros antígenos. Os cinco antígenos apresentaram valores máximos para o i.cn., indicando boa especificdade. Os títulos apresentados pelos soros chagásicos com antígeno obtido por NaOH foram, significativamente, superiores aos demais antígenos. A avaliação de cinco partidas de antígeno extraídas por NaOH em épocas diversas indicam boa sensibilidade, especificidade e reprodutibilidade de resultados, traduzidas pelos valores elevados para os i.c.p. e i.cn., além de títulos próximos entre si.

Professor Gomez stresses the rate at which the tropical forest, the environment of possibly 80% of known ferns, is projected to disappear over the next 20 years. He asks the question ‘Who will act?’, and intimates that the International Association of Pteridologists (I.A.P.) may take a role in developing a strategy. In the discussion following Gomez' paper, Clive Jermy, Chairman of the I.A.P., summarised the proposals put forward by the Association's Working Party on Conservation (Convenor, David R. Given). As those proposals are complementary to Professor Gomez' remarks and indicate what positive actions are being taken, they are included here.

La investigación titulada Programa “Jugando con los fonemas” en la conciencia fonológica en los estudiantes del 1º grado de primaria de la I.E.P. Albert Einstein de Breña 2017.tiene como problema general ¿En qué medida influye el programa aprendiendo juntos en el desarrollo de la conciencia fonológica en los estudiantes de 1º grado de primaria de la I.E.P Albert Einsten? La investigación se realizó el estudio de las variables de la Conciencia Fonológica a través de la aplicación del Programas con los fonemas, el tipo de investigación aplicada, con diseño cuasiexperimental apoyándose en el método hipotético deductivo, 109 estudiantes de la I.E. “Albert Eistein” el muestreo fue no probabilística por conveniencia. La recopilación de datos se utilizó El test de Conciencia Fonológica adaptado al test de habilidades metalingüísticas y el análisis de los datos se realizó con U de MANN WHITNEY. Por lo tanto, se demostró se aprecia los estadísticos de los grupos de estudio, siendo el nivel de significancia p=0,000 menor que α=0,05 (p<α) y Z = -8,589 menor que -1,96 (punto crítico), se rechaza la hipótesis nula y se acepta la hipótesis alterna, comprobándose de esta manera que: El programa “jugando con los fonemas” tiene influencia significativa en la conciencia fonológica en los estudiantes del 1º grado de primaria I.E.P. Albert Einstein de Breña 2017.

Resumiendo, consideramos que después de haber hecho el análisis de los distintos métodos para el estudio y diagnóstico de la I.O.E., para hacer así la discriminación de lo que corresponde a la misma y lo que podría deberse a una patología asociada, podemos expresar: que entendemos que en el diagnóstico de la I.O.E. deben emplearse en forma coordinada y sucesiva los distintos métodos, que no son excluyentes en dicho estudio sino que por el contrario se complementan. Que consideramos que puede resultar útil como táctica diagnóstica comenzar con los métodos estáticos: a) Determinación de la orina residual - b) La uretrometría - c) Las pruebas de esfuerzo - d) La cistoscopia - e) La exploración de los reflejos de Bors - f) La cistografía. Que debe continuarse el estudio diagnóstico con los métodos dinámicos: a) La cistonometría simple - b) La uretrocistonometría - c) La cineftuoroscopía miccional.

Resumen

Para aprimorar a sensibilidade e a especificidade da reação de hemaglutina-ção indireta no diagnóstico da doença de Chagas, foram utilizados eritrocitos sensibilizados com antígeno de epimastigotas de diferentes amostras (clones Al.7, B12, Cl e cepas D150 e Y), de tripomastigotas metacíclicos de cultura (TMC) e de tri-pomastigotas de cultura de células (TCC) do Trypanosoma cruzi. Foram titulados 132 soros de indivíduos chagásicos e 161 soros de não chagásicos, diagnosticados pela reação de imunofluorescência indireta (RIFI), considerada como reação de referência no cálculo dos índices de co-positividade (i.c.p.), co-negatividade (i.c.n.) e concordância. Utilizando o título discriminante (T.D.) de 1:40, os antígenos da cepa Y e do clone B12 apresentaram valores elevados para os três índices calculados, indicando boa sensibilidade e especificidade em relação à RIFI. Os antígenos dos clones Al .7 e Cl apresentaram baixa especificidade considerando o T.D. de 1:40, mas ocorreu um aumento acentuado para o i.c.n. considerando o T.D. de 1:80, indicando um aumento de especificidade relativa sem alteração significativa da sensibilidade relativa. Com os antígenos T.M.C, e T.C.C, foram observados títulos mais baixos e valores menores para o i.c.p., indicando pouca sensibilidade em relação à RIFI.

Resumen

A case of neonatal urinary ascites in a female newborn infant due to kinkingof the right ureter is presented. The diagnosis was based on the following findings: clinically, the presence of ascites which was confirmed radiologically,and by abdominal parfacentesis; by I.V.P. and operatively. After operative relief of the obstruction, the ascites disappeared and on the 8th day after operation she was discharged in a good condition.

AbstractDrawing on the recent scholarly interest in ‘generationism’ and the revolutionary period, this article examines the life chances of the 247 children born to the last cohort of Irish Parliamentary Party M.P.s elected to Westminster between 1910 and 1918. It employs a prosopographical approach to reconstruct their lives at specific points (1910 and 1948) in order to assess the impact that independence had on their fortunes longitudinally. While it problematises the idea that the Edwardian children of nationalist M.P.s formed part of a privileged elite in waiting, it does conclude that they enjoyed a degree of cultural and political capital that positioned them advantageously in advance of home rule. The analysis advanced here suggests that despite experiencing some political disorientation, those scions of the old I.P.P. who lived through the revolutionary years reoriented themselves relatively quickly, regrouped, and experienced considerable political and professional success during the following decades. As for those children who were born or achieved adulthood after 1922, there is little evidence to suggest that they were socially or politically ostracised, or that, in turn, they felt a sense of fundamental alienation from the new state. Ultimately, unlike those who had fought for the republic but ended up feeling as if they were among the losers, what the children of the I.P.P lost after 1918 should not obscure the fact that many of them were among the winners in the new Ireland.

Resumen

The heat pulses produced by cutting grains in a workpiece were measured using an infrared radiation pyrometer connected by means of an optical fiber. The results obtained were compared with those from a thermocouple to investigate the effect of differences in response speed on the output. The I.R.P., using an InAs cell as a detector which has a response time in the order of μs, can detect heat pulses with great accuracy and its signal trace versus time has many sharp peaks. The thermocouple formed by spot welding is inferior in response speed, and less accurate in registering heat pulses.

El objetivo general de la investigación fue: Determinar cómo y en qué medida se relaciona la inteligencia emocional con la conducta agresiva de los escolares de nivel secundario de la I.E.P. “Abraham Valdelomar”, Carmen Alto- Ayacucho 2019 El tipo de investigación fue aplicada de nivel correlacional, enfoque cuantitativo y diseño descriptivo de corte transversal, sobre una muestra de 120 escolares. Las técnicas de recolección de datos fueron la entrevista y los instrumentos, el test de inteligencia emocional y el cuestionario de agresividad validado por el Instituto Especializado de Salud Mental “Honorio Delgado – Hideyo Noguchi. Los resultados obtenidos del 100% de escolares el 52,6% (66) de escolares presentan una conducta agresiva y el 47,45 (54) no presenta razgos de una conducta agresiva. Del total 100% (66) escolares que presentan conducta agresiva, el 65,1%(43) presentan un nivel bajo de inteligencia emocional, seguido de 28,8% (19) de nivel medio y solo el 6,1% (04) un nivel alto de inteligencia emocional. Los componente intrapersonal e interpersonal de la inteligencia emocional se relacionan significativamente con la conducta agresiva de los escolares de nivel secundario; porque a medida que desciende el nivel del componente intrapersonal e interpersonal de la Inteligencia emocional se incrementa la conducta agresiva (< 0.001). Conclusión: la Inteligencia Emocional y la conducta agresiva son dependientes (p < 0.001), estableciéndose un grado de relación media según el Coeficiente de Correlación de Spearman (r = 0.847), lo que confirma la hipótesis propuesta: A medida que desciende el nivel de la inteligencia emocional, se incrementa la conducta agresiva de los escolares de nivel secundario de la I.E.P. “Abraham Valdelomar”, Carmen Alto- Ayacucho 2019.

Resumen

Distribution of manganese (Mn) and its binding to specific proteins were examined in rat pancreas. A MnCl2 solution was injected subcutaneously into Wistar rats daily at a single dose of 15 mg of Mn/kg body weight for 10 days and the animals were killed 1 day after the last injection. The concentration of Mn in the pancreas increased considerably from 1.4 +/- 0.2 (control) to 13.3 +/- 3.7 micrograms/g wet tissue by the repeated injection of Mn. The distribution of Mn in the soluble fraction of the pancreas (170,000 g supernatant) was determined on a gel-filtration column (Asahipak GST-520) using an h.p.l.c.-inductively coupled argon plasma atomic-emission spectrometry (i.c.p.) technique. The metal was eluted as a single peak in the high-molecular-mass protein fraction, where Mn had been observed as a small peak in the control profile, suggesting that the administered Mn was bound to the same Mn-binding component as that in the control. On the basis of enzymic and chemical characterization of the protein, it was identified as a zymogen of carboxypeptidase B (pro-carboxypeptidase B, pro-CPB). The elution profiles of the protein by h.p.l.c.-i.c.p. indicated that Mn and zinc (Zn) were bound to the zymogen with a molar ratio of 1:4 in normal rat pancreas. Mn bound to the zymogen was easily replaced by Zn in vitro, suggesting that Mn was bound to the Zn-binding site and that the binding affinity to Zn was higher than that to Mn. The present results indicate that pro-CPB is the primary Mn-binding protein in the pancreas of control and also Mn-administered rats.
