Resumen
This article proposes a new approach to literary hypertext, which foregrounds the notion of interrupting rather than that of linking. It also claims that, given the dialectic relationship of literature in print and digital-born literature, it may be useful to reread contemporary hypertext in light of a specific type of literature in print that equally foregrounds aspects of segmentation and discontinuity: serialized literature (i.e. texts published in installment form). Finally, it discusses the shift from spatial form to temporal form in postmodern writing as well as the basic difference between segment and fragment.

Resumen
The formation of hypertext competence emerges from a combination of methods, tools and technologies that provide communication between hypertext network devices with the aim of transmitting information. The information transmitted may be diverse depending on its type and content and is intended to be used collectively through network information and communication resources, where the network language and culture differ from traditional speech practices. The difference here lies at the macro level, i.e. at the level of texts, and at the micro level, the level of lexeme transformation, at the level of meaning and form, different from the norms existing in the language system of the community. Moreover, the level of fact acquisition and, as a result, memorization increase when the information is structured, taking into account common features, which are relevant for students. Objectivity, integrity and network identity pay an important role there. The formation of hypertext competence is carried out in the course of environment-oriented training, which means that a foreign language is acquired in natural situational conditions.

Resumen
This paper reports on an experimental comparison of static and dynamic hypertext. The static hypertext consisted of an online Bible with links defined by Thompson's Bible Chain References. The dynamic hypertext used the same content, but links were created dynamically by a search algorithm. In terms of task time and accuracy, overall performance was better in the dynamic hypertext condition. In addition, novices seemed to benefit more from the dynamic hypertext than did Bible experts. These results demonstrate that dynamic hypertext, using a querying approach, may sometimes be superior to static hypertext for some tasks. Thus dynamic hypertext, which requires no authoring effort, is an attractive alternative to the labor-intensive static hypertext that has been prevalent in the past.

The C(K)onstance Hypertext system (KHS) is an elaborated example of an open hypertext system. Open hypertext systems combine heterogeneous resources and different hypertext applications such as e-mail, text and image hypertexts with access to online databases or other information resources. These hypertexts, to which heterogeneous users have access, grow steadily in size. This paper takes an object-oriented approach and proposes a rigorous typing of hypertext objects to overcome the problems of open hypertext. The advantage of this typing is shown on an e-mail hypertext as a special application of the KHS system. KHS is written in Smalltalk and is being developed on UNIX-machines.

Resumen
This study considers forty adolescent English Language Learners who read a passage online containing additional information available through either hypertext links or footnotes. Participants were attending a special high school for English learners at the time of the study. Two versions of the text were offered, one with hypertext and the other with footnotes, and participants were randomly assigned to the footnote or hypertext condition. Answers to multiple choice questions showed no significant difference between groups in recall of the reading under the two conditions, in contrast with an earlier study of learners in higher education settings whose recall of reading with hypertext was significantly lower than with footnotes. Learners’ ratings of perceived comprehensibility of the 2 texts was also not significantly different. Additional interpretive data came from focus group interviews involving all of the participants.

Resumen
Modern research on lawmaking in electronic format confirms the thesis that legal texts made available by means of various types of legal information systems form a hypertext structure. Furthermore, research on hypertexts confirms that the use of this technology undermines the structuralist theories of text that underlie traditional methods of legislation and interpretation of law. In this article, an attempt is made to show how a hypertext can be used to provide legal information and how it can affect traditional legal practices connected with drafting and interpreting legal texts. In particular, the considerations will focus on the analysis of the use of hypertext for the processing of legal documents (including digital representation of legal texts) and the possibilities that arise in this area in connection with the development of the so-called adaptive hypertexts. On this ground the question is analyzed whether and, if so, to what extent and in what way an adaptive hypertext can be used for the presentation and analysis of legal texts.
