Resumen
This study focuses on the coverage of environmental threats in the German-language media. The methodology of this study is based on the ecolinguistic approach, particularly the achievements of media ecology, identifying the harmonization of the media space as a priority for journalism and a relevant area for linguistic studies. The German-language media focuses on the environmental challenges caused by the war in Ukraine, the threat of imminent climate change, and the COVID-19 pandemic. The effectiveness of their media presentation by the lexical and stylistic means is becoming relevant for linguistic research. The anthropocentric worldview of the human being causes a significant manipulative effect of anthropomorphic metaphor on the reader and helps to promote a conscious attitude to the environment. The distinguished models of metaphor and metonymy, used to increase the emotional plane of the described content, indicate the possibility of their use as a tool for awakening ecolinguistic consciousness. The socio- and psycholinguistic experiment determined the peculiarities of the German-speaking respondents' reception of publications on environmental issues. Representatives of the younger generation (mostly students) were interviewed, which allowed forming an idea of their interest in overcoming ecological problems and finding out popular sources of information about them. The impossibility of an immediate comprehensive expert assessment of the consequences of the war in Ukraine for all ecosystems determines further research into the means of media attention to this issue.

Resumen
The presence of Javanese pop music on social media is an interesting phenomenon to study. This phenomenon illustrates that there is a cultural transformation in society. To explore this, the researcher conducted a study using the audience reception analysis method to find out how the construction of people's meanings of the Pop Javanese phenomenon on social media, how they think the role of social media in the transformation of music that is happening and in-depth interviews with local Pop Jawa musicians, Den Juang, regarding their motives and goals for popularizing this music through social media. The data findings show that media ecology theory negates the concept of mass culture or popular culture in cultural studies. The point of emphasis in cultural studies focuses on the view that the media is a place of cultural production. Thus, there is a process of hegemony that leads to the common sense of society to accept the general "truth" spread through the media. However, the facts on the ground support the thinking of media ecology theory, which indeed looks at the development of media as a message of transformation of human civilization without being balanced with more depth and understanding of the messages conveyed.

Resumen
Human loves comfort. Throughout the history of his existence, he transforms the environment for his comfort. As a result, we live in the Anthropocene epoch, in which Homo sapience impacts the planet's geological processes. Maintaining an ecological balance is vital for the human race’s survival. One of the ways to organize a well-balanced urban environment is to analyze the way how the public communicates this problem, paying attention to the specific circumstances of a particular place. The methodology of the electronic sociological survey was used, as well as work with Google Trends to analyze the popularity of search queries on environmental issues in Almaty. This article, on the basis of an interdisciplinary study, analyzed the formation and development of the mass media discourse on urban ecologization in Almaty. The paper concludes that the ecological discourse form not only the main vector of the media content but also ecological consciousness since the greening of cities is impossible without the development of the ecology culture and ecology thinking.

Resumen
Urban renewal urgently needs to find a new media tool to extensively promote public participation. Professionals also need strong and powerful communication tools for the public. Mass media has the ability to influence human perceptions and behaviors, but its role has been overlooked. This study aims to arouse professionals’ attention to mass media and promote interdisciplinary cooperation through empirical evidence. By observing the performance of participatory urban gardening projects in Chinese newspapers, we highlight the positive effect of mass media on participatory landscape revitalization. We selected two projects in China as samples, collected newspaper reports on them during 2017–2021, and analyzed the textual framing and report communication based on communication theory. According to the result, mass media has four positive effects that not only affect the public but also contribute to participatory landscape revitalization development. Based on the results, we discuss the consistence of views of the mass media and landscape architecture. This study suggests that landscape architecture needs to actively collaborate with public media to better leverage the role of landscape in sustainable urban transformation.

Resumen
The mass media in the sphere of work include the production of information, communication, and the creation of public opinion in all areas of social life, including the areas that belong to the social and natural sciences, where ecology also belongs. They have become the basis for initiating social action in the field of environmental protection, which is necessary for the existence of raised ecological awareness, which is also expressed through knowledge about the threat to the balance in biodiversity and nature. The protection and preservation of biodiversity, as a significant part of the human environment, deserves more attention from the mass media, but also from the members of a social community. A modern man lives in an era of information abundance. It on many occasions disorients the modern consumer. For these reasons, a person, who already lives in a kind of "new media order", is recommended to adopt fundamental knowledge about the so-called media literacy, as well as biodiversity protection. This paper considers how the mass media should influence the raising of environmental awareness in the field of biodiversity conservation, taking into account all the dynamics and drama of information technology development and emerging forms of environmental and biodiversity threats.

Abstract At the modern stage of society’s development, ecology is seen as a complex, interdisciplinary science of the relationships of organisms, society and the environment. Ecology is a science that studies the regularities of the life of organisms in their natural living environment and taking into account the changes made in this environment as a result of human activity. In recent years, the mass media has been constantly talking and writing about ecology, environmental problems related to anthropogenic activity. The person with his activity is heavily polluted and continues to negatively affect the environment at increasing rates. This reckless behavior of humans and the whole of society threatens planet Earth with imminent doom, no less than the use of nuclear weapons. Only from the positions of modern science ecology is it possible to develop issues related to the prudent use of the natural resources of the biosphere and the fight against changes brought about in nature by human activity in the age of the scientific and technical revolution. For this reason, it is necessary to seek information and a solution to the key current problems: What are the main pollutants of the atmosphere, hydrosphere and lithosphere? What is the origin of these substances? How does their impact affect life on Earth? What approaches and methods are needed to prevent environmental pollution?

Resumen
New interpretation models are necessary to address the human dimensions of ecosystem management goals. A model focusing on audience characteristics guided the development of an ecosystem management interpretive program targeting military leaders and planners at Eglin Air Force Base in northwest Florida. Interpretive objectives and content areas were established with input from natural resource managers and data from baseline surveys of military decision makers. Key content areas for the interpretive program were (a) native and endangered species, (b) fire ecology, (c) ecosystems, and (d) forest resources and habitats. Interpretive media tested included print mass media, a color poster, golf course signs, a series of color brochures with a participatory component, and a video. Evaluative surveys showed significantly improved knowledge and attitudes in several content areas despite a high turnover of individuals in the target populations. Mass media were the most successful interpretive approach tested, resulting in increased knowledge and enhanced attitudes for both leaders and planners. Interpretive signs on the Eglin AFB golf course, targeting military leaders who reported golf as their main outdoor activity, were successful in improving knowledge of ecosystems and attitudes toward prescribed fire. Audience monitoring provides continued feedback for the interpretive program. These findings suggest that a model of interpretation focusing on audience attributes rather than site characteristics is useful for designing effective programs.

The key dissents on the estimation of environmental pollution between some humanists, ecophilosophers, especially devotees of deep ecology and its mass media supporters, and experimental scientists chiefly chemists and toxicologists are presented by a discussion of the most important problems: human health risk from food and nutrition, the expansion of new biological agents (pathogens), fears of chemical and physical agents stimulated opinions of toxicologists (ecotoxicologists) about most of the compounds for food preservation, antioxidants, pesticides, engine fuel components, metals. Subsequently to the above were discussed: the criticism of some misconceptions and the evolution of scientists. opinions about derivations of the greenhouse effect, toxicity and carcinogenesis criteria, evidence supporting the threshold dose versus the linear hypothesis at the evaluation of harmful environmental effects, examples of ecological utopia assuming a possibility of “life in the world without toxins”, the consequences of acts of law created with the idea, untrustworthy examples of alleged hazards, Poland’s law delay with the assimilation of the new toxicological and carcinogenesis evidence, DDT application dilemma concerned with the latter, the acceptance of the threshold dose also for radioactivity, the latest news about ravages of the Chernobyl catastrophe, the author’s belief in better cooperation of humanists, ecophilosophers, scientists and mass media people to create sensible social attitudes of the public in the face of the ecological and civilization crisis.

Com o Concílio Vaticano II, a Igreja pode ampliar, com os meios de comunicação social, suas formas de evangelizar e avançar não apenas com instrumentos técnicos de comunicação, mas também no aspecto humano, incluindo uma gama de variedades e interferências na cultura midiática atual. O uso dos mass media, das tecnologias digi­tais, das redes sociais etc., sobretudo, durante a pandemia do Covid-19, possibilitou a criação de grupos e comunidades online, bem como a vivência da fé nas famílias, assegurando a todos o acesso à mensagem do Evangelho. Objetiva-se, com este artigo, aprofundar, a partir da Que­rida Amazônia (2020), a importância dos meios de comunicação no contexto de evangelização dos povos da Amazônia, meios fundamentais para compreender as cosmovisões, as tradições, os costumes e a sabe­doria cultural de seus povos. Conclui-se que o Sínodo da Amazônia constitui um momento importante para favorecer a cultura do diálogo, do encontro, do cuidado da Casa Comum e para fortalecer os espaços comunicacionais existentes na região. Abstract: With the Second Vatican Council, the Church can expand with the media her ways of evangelizing and advancing not only with technical instruments of communication, but also in the human as­pect, including a range of varieties and interferences in current media culture. The use of mass media, digital technologies, social networks etc., especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, enabled the creation of groups, online communities and the experience of faith in families, ensuring access to the gospel message. The objective of this article is to deepen, from the Dear Amazon (2020), the importance of the media in the context of evangelization of the peoples of the Amazon, funda­mental means to understand their worldviews, their traditions, customs and cultural wisdom. It is concluded that the Synod of the Amazon is an important moment to foster a culture of dialogue, meeting and care of the Common House and, to strengthen the communication spaces existing in the region. Abstract This study delves into the dynamics of popularity as a crucial aspect of population dynamics, drawing from ecology and social science literature. The focus is on constructing an accurate model for understanding the spread of novelty, memes, and influences within human society, particularly through online platforms such as YouTube, Twitter, and Amazon. Traditional models, based on logistic and similar nonlinear differential equations, have shown limitations in long-term prediction accuracy, partially due to unexplained deviations. Recent research suggests the significance of long-term memory effects on popularity, characterized by a power-law response function, a phenomenon particularly evident in the realm of online mass media. Our research analyzes the Billboard Hot 100 chart, a comprehensive dataset of music popularity spanning several decades, to examine these dynamics. By integrating logistic growth with a power-law decaying long-term memory model, we demonstrate that the trajectory of popularity rankings is predominantly influenced by initial popularity levels and the strength of memory effects. Our findings reveal the pivotal role of long-term memory and the extent of initial popularity in shaping popularity dynamics over time. The study underscores the impact of mass media evolution and the differential effects of spreading mechanisms and accumulated popularity on these dynamics, particularly when long-term memory is a factor. This work contributes to a deeper understanding of the mechanisms driving popularity and its long-term trends in the digital age.

Resumen
This thesis examines German philosopher Martin Heidegger’s concepts of being and time, the role of language in being, and ways of authentic being through the lens of modern media practices in the Information Age. It relates Heidegger’s philosophy to the media ecology theory introduced by Marshall McLuhan in the 1960s by exploring McLuhan’s themes of tribal, typographical and electronic man. In addition, this thesis considers the role of mass media in information dissemination. The goal of this report is to explicate the shaping effects of mass media, especially social media, on individual perceptions and societal culture and identify ways in which such shaping affects authentic ways of being.

Resumen
During COVID-19, this study examines the accuracy of online news reporting by Beritasatu.com on reports of corruption in Indonesian social security funds. The substance of news items provided by Beritasatu.com was analyzed using a quantitative technique. The Westerstahl theory is used in the research data analysis phase. According to the objectivity matrix evaluation results, the element of actuality in the Beritasatu.com media in presenting facts and completeness of information, including 5W + 1H, is reasonably high. Furthermore, the news portal has the relevancy of the sources and the title determination based on the news issue. Beritasatu.com's balanced results in presenting two perspectives are relatively poor in impartiality, which is determined using markers of balance and neutrality. In contrast, news that quotes from one source dominates all news. As a result, Beritasatu.com lacks news verification discipline. Overall, the findings of the data study suggest that Beritasatu.com maintains its impartiality in reporting.

Resumen
According to the Bronfenbrenner's ecological systems theory of human development ([1][2][3][4][5]), the development of each individual cannot be observed without considering its relationship with the development of other people and, above all, with the environment in which they live. The ecological orientation of Bronfenbrenner with respect to human development is therefore based on the interest in the progressive adaptation between an active organism that grows and its immediate environment: the individual-environment interaction that is determined by the relationships existing between the different environmental situations and the individuals present in that context is fundamental. Consequently, the ecological environment that is considered relevant to development processes is not limited to a single environmental situation but includes the interconnections between multiple environmental situations and the different influences of each individual. The evolution of the Internet-based technologies has brought to the development of solutions that have profoundly changed the way we live, including education. The advent of social media and social networks represents a milestone in the history of Internet, opening up to profound reflections on the "virtualization" of relationships, their growing importance in everyday life, and their role in education. Many authors argue that the Internet and the social media should no longer be considered as a tool to connect to a virtual reality that is separate from the real world, but as a place in which users live daily ([6][9][11][10]); consequently, they constitute one of the environmental situations mentioned by Bronfenbrenner. However, the risks deriving from the use of social media have been widely discusses in the literature ([7][8][12]). Adolescents are more exposed to the social media threats, since they are unable to perceive the profoundly different dynamics that govern offline and online networks. In this paper, having in mind the Bronfenbrenner's ecological systems theory of human development, we argue that the progressive adaptation of students to social media should be considered as a process of their growth and development. Furthermore, we analyze some corrections to be introduced in the educational paths of adolescents necessary to reduce the threats deriving from the use of social media and social networks in education. Resumen
A proposed Neoclassical growth theory of micro-organisms is shown to apply in a much wider variety of cases, from micro-level organisms via animal and human cell growth and up to the macro-level populations encountered in ecology. Including the metabolic mass transfer effects, that are an essential ingredient of the Neoclassical Theory, allows for the recovery of substantial and distinct phenomena observed experimentally. The proposed theory identifies the mechanism controlling the Lag phase, a result that holds impressive future potential in diverse applications. Different theoretical results are presented and compared with experimental data to substantiate the claim that the model based on the Neoclassical Growth Theory is the only available model that produces results, which are consistent with all experimental evidence.

The article talks about the philosophical foundations that characterize the mechanism of internal inducement to action. As an academic, constitutional, and socio-ideological concept, the boundaries of freedom are outlined, which are displayed in the field of modern media space. The term «freedom» is considered as several philosophical concepts that formed the basis of the modern interpretation of this concept. The totality of its meanings is generalized into one that is adapted for the modern system. Parallels are drawn between the interaction of the concept of user freedom with the plane of domestic mass media because despite, the fact that consciousness is knowledge, the incoming information directly affects the individual and collective consciousness. Using the example of the most popular digital platforms, the components of the impact on users and the legal aspect of their implementation are analyzed. When considering the issues of freedom of choice and freedom of action on the Internet, special attention is paid to methods of collecting and processing information, in particular, the limitations and possibilities of digital programs-algorithms of the popular search engine Google. The types of personal information collected by Google about the user are classified and the possible mechanisms of influence on personal choice and access to information on the Internet are characterized. The article analyzes the constitutional guarantees of freedom and the impact of digital technologies on them. Particular attention is paid to ethics, in particular journalistic, which nominally regulates the limits of the humane, permissible, a / moral (unacceptable/acceptable) in the implementation of professional information activities in the media. Thus, the issue of freedom of choice and freedom of action in the plane of domestic mass media is subject to an objective examination of its components, they are analyzed for a proper constitutionally suitable phenomenon, which must be investigated from the point of view of compliance with human rights and freedoms and professional standards within the media.

Migration and displacement related to climate change have received increasing attention in the media, in research and among policymakers in recent years. A range of studies have produced extremely concerning statistics and forecasts about the potential scale of migration and displacement due to climate change now and in the future. For example, the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre calculated that in 2019 alone almost 25 million people were displaced by disasters such as floods and tropical storms – three times the number displaced by conflict and violence (IDMC 2020a). The World Bank’s 2018 Groundswell report estimated that, if substantial climate change mitigation and development measures are not taken, slow-onset climate impacts could displace as many as 143 million people in just three world regions, or 55 percent of the developing world’s population, by 2050 (Rigaud et al. 2018). These kinds of figures have been widely reported and drive the prevailing narrative in media and policy debates that climate change will lead to mass migration and displacement, which, in turn, can lead to conflict. There is empirical evidence that rising temperatures, leading to disasters and slow-onset impacts such as drought or sea-level rise are already playing a role in setting people across the world on the move, and these numbers are likely to increase as climate change impacts intensify (UNINE n.d.; IOM’s GMDAC 2020). However, the links between climate change, migration, displacement and conflict are complex, and vary widely between contexts. The growing community of research on this topic has warned that, without an adequate understanding of the pathways of mobility, predictions of millions of climate migrants and displaced people can cast responses in alarmistic and counter-productive tones (Flavell et al. 2020). Policy on displacement, migration and climate change can therefore profit from investing in fine-grained analyses of the different factors shaping human mobility, and using them to support the development of effective responses that address the needs of migrants, as well as their home and destination communities. Along these lines, this paper examines the interaction between biophysical climate impacts, migration, displacement and (in)security. It aims to go beyond the prevailing narratives to better understand the different ways in which mobility can serve as an adaptive strategy to climate- and conflict-related risks and vulnerabilities. It also aims to assess how effective mobility is as an adaptation strategy and will continue to be in light of other stresses, including the COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis focuses on two case studies, Bangladesh and Central Asia, each presenting different human mobility pathways. It adopts a diversity lens to consider how the success/effectiveness of mobility strategies is sensitive to the position of individuals in society and the opportunities they have. It also considers how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the ability of climate-vulnerable populations to use mobility as an effective adaptation strategy, considering movement restrictions, increased unemployment in cities, reduced opportunities for seasonal work (e.g. in the agriculture sector), return migration and impacts on remittance flows. In conclusion, the paper makes recommendations to inform governments in countries of origin and international development and humanitarian policies and programmes in relation to mobility and climate change/security, including those of the EU and EU member states. Firstly, climate-induced mobility should be included in and addressed through broader adaptation and development efforts, for example building urban infrastructure, promoting nature-based adaptation, and ensuring adequate social protection and education. Policies and legal frameworks on migration and displacement in countries of origin should also be strengthened, ensuring the coordination between existing policies at all levels. Global cooperation will be essential to build international standards. And finally, all programming should be supported by an improved knowledge base on climate-induced migration and displacement, including gender- and age- disaggregated data.

Mountain regions are known as the “water towers of the world” for their capacity to store freshwater in glaciers. River basins with glaciers on their headwaters benefit from water stored as ice, representing a regulating water source for downstream river flow, particularly during the summer and in dry periods, especially in times of drought. However, human-induced global warming has caused glaciers to retreat, meaning the ice mass that has formed over many years melts faster than snowfall can replace. Currently, glaciers are melting at double the speed they have in the past two decades, with ever decreasing water availability for those that depend on glacial meltwater for their lives. This technical background report for the 2023 edition of the Interconnected Disaster Risks report analyses the root causes, drivers, impacts and potential solutions for the mountain glaciers melting risk tipping point our world is facing through an analysis of academic literature, media articles and expert interviews.

African governments are spending over 1US$bn per year on digital surveillance technologies which are being used without adequate legal protections in ways that regularly violate citizens’ fundamental human rights. This report documents which companies, from which countries, are supplying which types of surveillance technology to African governments. Without this missing detail, it is impossible to adequately design measures to mitigate and overcome illegal surveillance and violations of human rights. Since the turn of the century, we have witnessed a digitalisation of surveillance that has enabled the algorithmic automation of surveillance at a scale not previously imaginable. Surveillance of citizens was once a labour and time-intensive process. This provided a practical limit to the scope and depth of state surveillance. The digitalisation of telephony has made it possible to automate the search for keywords across all mobile and internet communications. For the first time, state surveillance agencies can do two things: (a) conduct mass surveillance of all citizens’ communications, and (b) micro-target individuals for in-depth surveillance that draws together in real-time data from mobile calls, short message service (SMS), internet messaging, global positioning system (GPS) location, and financial transactions. This report was produced by qualitative analysis of open-source data in the public domain. The information presented is drawn from a diverse range of sources, including open government data sets, export licence portals, procurement notices, civil society databases of surveillance contracts, press releases from surveillance companies, academic articles, reports, and media coverage. The research is organised using a typology of five categories of surveillance technology. We did not set out to detail every technology available, every company, or every supply contract. Instead, we document the main companies and countries selling digital surveillance technologies to African governments. Rather than focus on the technical functionality distinguishing each product offering, we highlight five of the most important types of surveillance technology: internet interception, mobile interception, social media surveillance, ‘safe city’ technologies for the surveillance of public spaces, and biometric identification technologies.

The article analyzes Olegario González de Cardedal’s views on journalistic mission, that he interprets as a “ministry”. For him, a journalist is the minister of the word, the creator and the interpreter of events, the spokesperson of human being and the witness of human hope. For the Spanish Catholic theologian and author, the newspaper is both “structure and soul”. He believes that media is something more than an ordinary profitable enterprise and interprets journalism as a “spiritual ministry”. A prerequisite for the true ministry is the hierarchical system of values. In this context, for González de Cardedal the most important are “decisive values”, “permanent priorities”, from the positions of which one should think. He also defines two main ideals of mass communication: the development of nobility and the strengthening of freedom. In addition, Olegario González de Cardedal emphasizes such features of a journalist as the devotion to the truth, the respect for facts, the professional cognition of the order of reality, the empathy and the freedom in relation to the powerful of this world. Moreover, the essayist pays special attention to the need for a more targeted approach to the coverage of international events. Olegario González de Cardedal believes that a reader first of all looks in a newspaper not only for what helps him get closer to the people who live nearby, but also to those ones who live far away. This, in his opinion, is a necessity at a time when information is a source of orientation in the struggle for existence, especially at a time of integral challenges that make geographical distances relative. “Human life has already reached cosmic proportions, and we cannot be human without being neighbors. Even through a provincial newspaper, great events of the world must travel: its landscapes, its people, its destinies...” Recognizing the fact that all newspapers are fundamentally local, however, the thinker notes, they must all build a common consciousness, convince of the common purpose and hope. The author characterized the Ukrainian national values, national interests and national goals. It is emphasized that national values are conceptual, ideological bases, consolidating factors, important life guidelines on the way to effective protection of Ukraine from Russian aggression and building a democratic, united Ukrainian state. Author analyzes the functioning of the mass media in the context of educational propaganda of individual, social and state values, the dominant core of which are patriotism, human rights and freedoms, social justice, material and spiritual wealth of Ukrainians, natural resources, morality, peace, religiosity, benevolence, national security, constitutional order. These key national values are a strong moral and civic core, a life-giving element, a self-affirming synergy, which on the basis of homogeneity binds the current Ukrainian society with the ancestors and their centuries-old material and spiritual heritage. Attention is focused on the fact that the current problem of building the Ukrainian state and protecting it from the brutal Moscow invaders is directly dependent on the awareness of all citizens of the essence of national values, national interests, national goals and filling them with the meaning of life, charitable socio-political life. It is emphasized that the missionary vocation of journalists to orient readers and listeners to the meaningful choice of basic national values, on the basis of which Ukrainian citizens, regardless of nationality together they will overcome the external Moscow and internal aggression of the pro-Russian fifth column, achieve peace, return the Ukrainian territories seized by the Kremlin imperialists and, in agreement will build Ukrainian Ukraine.
