Resumen
Honor killing is a violent crime committed by one or more perpetrators, in which the crime’s intention is to restore honor to their family. In this narrative review, the authors investigate the epidemiology of honor killing in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Furthermore, the social, cultural, and legal aspects of honor killing are discussed. Numerous socio-cultural factors lead to the action of killing for honor in this region. They include deeply rooted patriarchal dominance, the desire to maintain social status, and being poorly educated. Honor killing perpetrators have similar characteristics, such as rating female chastity at a higher price and justifying violence against women. The impact of honor killing on family members is much greater than the perceived families’ beliefs of the community’s rejection of the female’s dishonorable behavior. Silence culture dominates these societies, and many crimes are under-reported in this region. Often, a judicial trial is not conducted for such heinous crimes. Penal code reforms, campaigns to promote human rights, steps to improve the education level, and active participation of civil society in condemning such crimes are a few essential measures that need to be considered in order to curb the social evil of honor killing.

Resumen
In the light of some key concepts from the chastity codes described by anthropological research for honor societies in the Mediterranean region and the Middle East, this article examines the chastity code for women that the Spanish Renaissance humanist Juan Luis Vives (1492/3–1540) advocated in his work De institutione feminae Christianae (1524/1538). Aspects, such as gender order, restrictions on women’s physical freedom of movement, regulations and instructions regarding women’s clothing, and various rules for women’s outward conduct, are studied. It can be established that Vives advocated a very traditional, patriarchal view of women, exhorting very strict gender segregation and female seclusion. He prescribed very tight restrictions on women’s freedom, with a view to controlling female sexuality, an aspect of Vives that previous research has not paid full attention to.

Resumen
The present study scrutinizes the cases of honor killings in Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, and Canada through selected documentary films. The case focuses on the social, moral, and religious aspects that coerce some people to take the lives of their own family members in case they defy norms. The documentaries chosen as case studies provide the perspectives of both the victims and the victimizers regarding the concepts of honor, dishonor, and honor killings. People in certain societies reject progressive new thought as attempts to contaminate their perceived cultural purity. People from these communities who try to assimilate liberal ideas are often shunned, especially when the emancipation of women is concerned. Even the seemingly progressive males are very unforgiving about the female members of their families embracing the modern ways of life. The women who try to defy set traditions are branded as being rebellious and are punished to serve as a precedent for future rebellions by women and to save society from their alleged bad influence. In some patriarchal societies, women are seen as the preservers of the family’s honor, and their conduct often reflects the family’s culture, morality, and ethics. Any lapse on a woman’s part allegedly taints the family’s name, and punishment must be given to the erring party to restore the family’s honor. The case also studies the influence of society as a compelling factor in honor killings.

Resumen
This article gives a close reading of the “avvisi di Roma”—unpublished archival documents reporting on daily life in the city—that record the arrest in 1645 of famous Roman courtesan singer Nina Barcarola. Organized by the political enemies of Nina's main protector, Cardinal Antonio Barberini, the arrest was orchestrated so as to compromise the public honor of both. The reports of the arrest reflect a growing elite interest in female vocal performance in Rome, and attest to a rise in the social value of courtesan singers. Examining details provided in these reports, the article explores various aspects of Nina's life and courtesan singing culture more generally: the public honor and social practices of courtesan singers; the positive effect of singing on courtesan honor; the types of gatherings hosted by Nina; and her politically satirical public performances. It also analyzes Nina's relationship to various areas of contemporary politics—social, state, familial, and gender. The reports reveal that, in the public sphere, Nina, like Barberini's male dependents, served as a symbolic extension of the cardinal. By introducing courtesan singers—a significant, marginalized population—into musicological discourse on seventeenth-century Rome, the article broadens our understanding of Roman singing culture in this period.

Resumen
The article examines the issues of glocalization and regulation of communicative interaction based on the material of the speech act of defamation. It is shown that countries, when legislating public relations in this area, proceed from the interests dictated by their own information security policy. Using the example of some post-Soviet states, which historically have common sources of law, evidence is presented of the refusal of states to unify legal norms in the field of regulating public communication activity: the speech act of defamation as an illegal and criminally punishable act is excluded from the legislation of Estonia; in Azerbaijan, Latvia, Lithuania, Tajikistan it does not have the status of a serious crime, unlike The Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation. However, this approach does not exclude the emergence of problems, primarily of a methodological nature. As an actual example, fragments of Belarusian legislation are analyzed, which reveal a terminological lacuna in understanding the categories of honor, dignity and business reputation as a triad of intangible subject rights, the attempt on which is realized through a speech act of defamation. The relevance of the legal linguistic interpretation of the designated content of the concepts is substantiated: honor as moral and ethical qualities of a person in the assessment of others; the introverted phenomenon of dignity as a social self-esteem of a person; business reputation as a set of professional and/or service qualities of a person. Based on the material of the Belarusian legislation, a meaningful detailing of the signs of the implementation of a speech act of defamation is given according to the parameters 1) factual nature, 2) object composition, 3) type of information and 4) channel of information dissemination.

Resumen
This study attempts to investigate Jordanian oaths from a sociocultural and translational perspective. The study shows that Jordanian oaths are insufficiently explored from such a perspective. The paper uncovers that Jordanian oaths have many formulas and are taken in many social and cultural aspects such as religion, body parts, honor, headdress, curse, and Arabic coffee, among many other things. In order to conduct the study, examples resembling these different aspects of oaths are suggested, and some social and cultural details are given before the examples. To make the Jordanian oaths clear, each oath example is contextualized in a social and cultural setting and then followed by a literal translation. Finally, the examples are analyzed and discussed, translationally, socially, and culturally in order to give a ground evidence that Jordanian oaths are difficult to translate from Arabic into English.

In this thesis, rene alexandre courteix argues that the french revolution has a central role in balzac's writings, even though the author of the human comedy actually chose to describe and explain society as it was in his day. He explains the inevitability of the meeting between a writer of genius, born in 1799, wishing to give a full acc0unt of man and society in the first half of the 19th century, and one of the highlights of the history of mankind, occurring at the end of the 18th century and bearing withing it a new conception of man and a new philosophical and political definition of society. He shows that the french revolution its causes, several of its main manifestations, and its consequences - is present throughout the whole of balzac's wrigings. Finally he considers the ideological meaning of the testimony offered by balzac alongside that of some of his grat contemporaries and the way this is closely bound to the writer's underlying philosophy of man and society

Grounded in a theoretical debate between anthropological studies on Roma/Gypsies and anthropological studies of Christianity, the focus of this thesis is on the experience of social and religious life among members of a traditional minority in Finland, the Finnish Kaale/Finnish Roma, a population of approximately 13.000 people living in Finland and Sweden. Over the past decades, the processes of urbanisation and sedentarisation have led to shifts in the ways in which the social lives of Kaale families are lived. A shift towards individualisation is interlinked with the continuous importance placed on family and kin belonging, which come together in a re-assessment of people's central attachments in the world. At the same time, over the same period of time, a large number of this population have converted to Pentecostal and charismatic movements in the country, leading to subtle changes in the shape of social relations within and outside their own community: between believers and non-believers, between Kaale and non-Kaale. Making use of participant observation, interviews, conversion stories and individual life histories among Finnish Kaale living in the capital city of Helsinki and in Eastern parts of the country, this ethnography provides an insight into the multiple, overlapping and complex ways in which Kaale belonging is understood and into the ways in which Pentecostal religious life takes shape among born-again Kaale. Furthermore, looking specifically at the practice of Evangelism and missionary work, which defines the life of Pentecostal Kaale believers, the role of faith as an enhanced engagement with the world is analysed. A conversation therefore emerges also on the role of Pentecostal belonging in mobilising believers in relation to the world around them and, more specifically, on the way in which Pentecostal faith provides an avenue for a further social engagement and social mobilisation of individual Kaale believers.

Lisspers, Stina y Alma Berg.

The digital transformation is accelerating, and it is of utmost importance that organizations and consultants hired by them are successful in implementing IT tools. Simultaneously, an IT implementation is complex and largely affected by the IT culture in the organization. Therefore, it is of importance to study the connection between IT culture and IT implementation, and to form strategies that can be used to facilitate an IT implementation regarding the IT culture. AIM: The aim of the study is to analyze how IT culture is connected to IT implementation and strategies that can be used to facilitate IT implementation. This is accomplished by a study of consultants and how they identify co-workers’ attitudes to IT.  COMPLETION: This study is a cross-sectional qualitative study. The empirical data consists of seven interviews with IT consultants from five different companies. The study is conducted with an interpretive philosophical perspective.  CONCLUSION: This study shows that IT cultures play an important role in the process of implementation of IT, where a positive IT subculture benefits a successful implementation. Therefore, through active work during the implementation process, IT consultants can deal with negative attitudes and strengthen positive approaches.  IT consultants should use strategies to create a positive IT culture within the organization, but also to transform negative and neutral IT cultures into more positive IT cultures. Different strategies are suitable for different kinds of IT cultures and it is therefore essential that IT consultants get to know the organization and clarify the variety of IT subcultures that exist within the organization, to be able to address them in the most suitable way.

The humankind as a whole goes through a quick and continuous process of change in the social, economic and politic spheres. The world reality has already transformed itself. What once in the past looked lame and took decades to change, now changes with a single click of a computer keyboard. We live nowadays a constant process of evolution of the world society where cultural and economic globalization makes its path into the virtual world of the Internet. The Internet phenomenon, called Web of webs, already impacts the human universe in unimaginable proportions through a digital convergence process where man interacts with another man, each time and more through an infinite virtual space that respects no cultural differences, geographical limits or State Sovereignties. The economic and cultural globalization of the societies also requires the globalization of the juridical thought as a whole in order to find efficient mechanisms and apply legal norms that last and endure beyond the territorial principles, especially when it concerns to Penal Law and Economic Law. In these terms, the present work intended to analyze, under the Economic Law view, the circumstances that involve the legal reparation of the victims from the crimes against the honor perpetrated on the Internet. From the law operator´s point of view the difficulties are enormous, even because Internet is a world phenomenon, homogeneous, countrywide and landless, with no spatial or geographical delimitations, and with immaterial consistency. It is a universe which has not been predicted by the traditional historic cultural reality of Law. The three-dimensional Theory that brought the fact, the value and the norm, now faces the challenge of dealing with a social reality far different from what existed decades ago. The Internet phenomenon is still little known among us, but Law has to adapt as fast as possible to this new Era of virtuality. It is from this adjustment capacity and projection of valid and efficient legal norms to the virtual universe of the Web of webs that emerges the necessary juridical safety to the national judicial systems of each country in the world. This work aims to contribute uniquely with the discussion and the possible and viable solutions of questions related to the economic consequences that come up with the practice of crimes against the honor of people through the World Wide Web. The Internet, as we know it today, represents the technology of freedom, and this is good. What brings up such discussions and what one tries to avoid is the risk of the ineffectiveness of Law towards the illicit conducts and the old and new outlaw behaviors that currently occur in its virtual space that if not hold back, cause economic and social injuries witch bring discomfort and juridical insecurity to millions of people.

In this work I analyse forms of sociability among hammock sellers from Patos, PB, including living experiences with their marital partners, using the methodology of interviews and the direct observation of aspects of their daily lives. The theoretical perspective has as main founts: (1) contributions done by Marcel Mauss on the theme of sociability nets, which are built around structures of giving and reciprocity; (2) the contributions done by Bourdieu on the theme of honour among the Kabila; (3) the contributions done by Simmel, with his discussion on sociability forms. In order to understand the social organisation of hammock sellers and theirs wives in the context of hammocks and other sales and other craft-works sales, I used the ethnographic method and did semi-structured interviews. Besides it I made direct observation and participated in informal chats between hammock sellers I chose, in order to have some life stories. Among the main outcomes of my research I bring out the following: (1) the honour of the hammock sellers from Patos-PB is built with reference to the debt logic; (2) the sociability of hammock sellers is determined by the imposed reciprocity of debt, which helps them in building and make strong social links; (3) the hammock sellers honour expresses itself in varied forms according to the different places in which hammock sellers circulate. It varies as well as a function of social roles they play at the community.

Ethnology of the adventure. Contemporary practices of male mobility and identity buildings in West Africa (Burkina Faso) – This PhD thesis features an ethnology of migratory phenomena in West Africa which promotes a study of the mobility locally called “adventure” as an anthropology of the uncertainty. The initial purpose was to grasp labile and roaming identities of migrants who refer to themselves as adventurers – identity branched to specific practices, desires and conceptions of the Elsewhere. In approaching as closely as possible the meaning of the speeches of the actors and the witnesses, in analyzing thick biographies of adventurers in order to reproduce the subjective dimension of their migratory experience, and in observing in vivo the social contexts and the crucibles of meanings where the desires of extroversion arise, we give to see and understand the adventurers’ uses of the Here and the Elsewhere, as well as their relationships to themselves, to others and to the world they generate. Contrary to the cliché painting migrations in the most miserable way, thus we unveil a philosophy of the mobility that makes us inclined to think the adventurer as a subject-author of his existence and the adventurism as an éthos and a ritual form of self-aestheticization, self-narrative, self-conquest and self-exposure

The aim of the thesis was to show representation of the chivalry ethos on the selection of Wajda, Munk and Skolimowski. The category of ethos has a double meaning: (1) as a theater of dignity and (2) a respect to irrationals values. It shows the strategies of the ethos in polish history.

Resumen
This section analyzes the early years of the Revolution, including the ethics of the war and Americans’ attention to maintaining moral superiority. It shows that the patriots wanted to win, but win well. They wanted the new country to succeed, but not at the cost of honor or virtue. Thus, this chapter shows attempts to discourage the old European notions of honor that still existed in favor of the democratized version. It shows how ethical ideals played a role in all aspects of military establishment from battlefield tactics, to the treatment of prisoners, to the recruitment of soldiers. It also presents an expansion of honor and a broadening of ethics as part of a wider social revolution that included those of different genders, races, and classes as equal participants and claimants to honor. It looks at martial and civil policies that enforced conduct and recognized women’s and African Americans’ contributions. All people could claim their share of honor and virtue through proper conduct, duty to the nation, and, above all, ethical behavior.

Resumen
Abstract The reunion in the rural setting calls on a number of powerful traditional Christian images to portray symbolically the meanings associated with family, home, and community and the contradictions of meanings, the irreconcilable paradoxes, within the religion-familial system of Protestant culture. The family gathered at the reunion has the same social shape and many aspects of the form of liturgy seen in the religious gathering of people for the church homecoming or camp meeting; often one finds the reunion is held at the campgrounds or outdoors around the covered tables near the graveyard of the rural church. The Biblical images of household of God and family of faith are invoked to sacralize the human family by linking it to the ongoing unit of the church; the image of the communion of the saints as a collected body of heavenly and earthly Christians is linked with the specific human ancestors of a family through honor of the old and of the dead and through the tie of reunions to ancient family homeplaces and cemeteries. Sharing common food invokes the image of Holy Communion-in this case consisting of food prepared by the women of each family in the fashion of an offering consumed by all in the sacramental setting of the common table.

Resumen
Abstract Memorials and monuments are typically works of public art with a deliberate social function: to honor persons and events considered important to remember by a community, whether local or global. Their subjects may be triumphant or catastrophic, individual or collective. Because of their central purpose, the ethical character of such works is as significant as their aesthetic success. Indeed, it can be hard to separate the two realms. However, when social and political values shift and those honored are no longer considered worthy, the ethical and the aesthetic aspects of monuments can come into intense conflict. This chapter offers a general definition of monuments and memorials, discusses their shared features, and considers the ethical and aesthetic assessments that they invite.

Cultural shock is a phenomenon that second language learners face when relocated to another culture. This chapter reviews culture, in general, culture shock, in general, and the four stages of culture shock. Additionally, the author presents the following S.H.O.C.K. strategy to lessen the culture shock of second language learners: Study personal perspectives, Honor personal factors, Observe language levels, Cultivate accepting environments, and Knock on the door. The S.H.O.C.K. strategy can be utilized in many contexts, including education, leisure, social, and business.

Resumen
Abstract Chapter 5 homes in on the honorific statue and examines the attitudes of Greeks in the Roman empire to its commemorative capacity. Expressly designed as a commemorative artefact and embedded within civic social praxis, a statue should be a desirable honour. This chapter argues, however, that imperial Greek literature and aspects of how statues are deployed in reality instead cast honorific statues as deficient honours and ultimately unsuitable for personal commemorative ambition. The chapter begins by establishing the place of statue honours in the Roman empire and their perceived commemorative limitations. It then turns to examine several literary and material strategies employed by imperial Greeks that are designed to counter these disadvantages. Topics covered in detail include how statue programmes on monuments are used to amplify commemorative claims; how texts are used to create tailored, imaginary, and inviolable spaces of honour for individual statues; how the replication of private portrait types can extend a carefully crafted reputation to a broader audience; and how literature can remove the limitations of the honorific statue by animating it and instilling personality. Herodes Attikos again forms the focus of material discussion, but the texts are drawn from a much broader field, including Favorinus, Apuleius, Aelius Aristeides, Polemon, Philostratos, Arrian, and Dio Chrysostom.

Resumen
The Introduction gives the reader a sense of the stakes of the book. I begin from contemporary social scientific scholarship to, first, expose the tension between reputation as opinion (doxa) and the functionalist treatment it receives today, and second, via a contrast with its kin concept of honor, assuage suspicions about its aristocratic overtones. I go on to critically discuss relevant research on ancient democratic Athens, paying extended attention to one treatment of reputation that mutes its demotic inflections. I then focus exclusively upon Plato to connect his concern with reputation to a standard feature of his thought: the distinction between reality and appearances, and the appearance of philosophers in cities in particular. To bring out the political aspect of reputation further, I engage with two contemporary critiques of doxa in Plato. I end by detailing my interpretive approach to the dialogues and offer an overview of the chapters of the book.

The Casebook series provides a comprehensive selection of case law that addresses all aspects of the subject encountered on undergraduate courses. This chapter deals with intention to be legally bound and capacity to contract. In order to enforce any promise not contained in a deed, there must be an intention to create legal relations. This intention is traditionally determined using different presumptions for domestic and commercial agreements. In the case of domestic and social agreements, there is a presumption that there is no intention to create legal relations. In contrast, there is a presumption of an intention to create legal relations in commercial agreements. Both presumptions are capable of being rebutted on the facts, e.g. an honour clause in a commercial contract. The second part of this chapter examines capacity to contract and particularly the enforceability of contracts made by minors.

Resumen
Personality rights are powers granted by the legal system to protect the fundamental aspects of a person's development, including the biopsychosomatic, moral or spiritual integrity and intellectual integrity of the individual (LIMA NETO; SILVESTRE; HERKENHOFF, 2020, p.11). The protection of the right to life, physical integrity, honor, privacy, as well as the right to demand that society respects these rights, make up the exemplary list of personality rights (BARROSO, 2004, p. 12). All these manifestations of personality are a consequence of the value of human dignity, a constitutional principle that serves as a guideline for determining the list of personality rights in the Brazilian Civil Code. (SCHREIBER, 2014, p. 13) However, freedom of expression is a personality right that is not considered absolute because it can be invoked to justify discriminatory and harmful manifestations of other personality rights. Therefore, when the right to freedom of expression and the right to honor, for example, conflict in a lawsuit, a weighting must be made as to which of the rights in question deserves to be protected, as freedom of expression should not be considered a prima facie right. Resumen
In recent years, Europe has been moving towards a concept of inclusivity as highlighted by the sixteenth goal of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals Agenda that promotes peaceful and inclusive societies. (UN Dept. of Global Communications, 2015). The increasing awareness of social diversity has attracted the attention of designers who started to adopt an inclusive design approach and design products or services to be usable by as many people as reasonably possible, without the need for specialised adaptions. The inclusive design approach has been largely applied in adaptive sports to improve levels of functioning and independence in daily living activities and increase physical capability, physiological capacity, social status, and sense of belonging. Adaptive sports can become a way to promote involvement as an active part of the rehabilitation exercise to stimulate neuromotor recovery, particularly in children with disabilities (Canina et al., 2020). Recent research has demonstrated that climbing could be an excellent rehabilitation tool that involves the child with disabilities in a natural way. This sport exploits the propensity to play, to sport, to compete, to stimulate the execution of specific exercises, can transform this effort into a game and multiply the effectiveness of the rehabilitation process (Reljin, V., 2019). An intensive rehabilitation from an early age guarantees the recovery of part of their neuromotor abilities. In order to achieve better results in rehabilitation, adaptive sports must adopt a holistic approach to the user considering both the physical and the psycho-perceptual aspects, i.e. the ability to do it but also the feeling of fulfilment in doing it. However, current climbing walls do not include these aspects of the adaptive sport. An adaptive climbing wall design requires identifying a methodology that could lead to a coherent and effective solution, using explicit attention for inclusiveness. The paper describes the Design for Sustainable Behaviour (DfSB) approach adopted to design an adaptive climbing wall as a tool for the rehabilitation of children with Cerebral Palsy (CP) by identifying the sustainable, inclusive requirements that consider children’s diversity. The DfSb approach, as user- and use-centred design that create preconditions for a sustainable everyday life, considers the sustainability aspects from two essential points of view. The user's sustainable behaviour, in which inclusiveness is a fundamental part of these attitudes, and the product's sustainability that uses new recycled materials create a more natural environment (similar to climbing in natural environments). Indeed, the project considers first the sustainable behavioural aspects, spreading climbing as a tool to improve the health conditions of CP children, introducing them to climbing by making it accessible and inclusive, intending to help children with different abilities to build trust and awareness of their potentialities, and a sense of accomplishment while training problem-solving and decision-making skills. As a second point of DfSB, the climbing wall and holds are designed with sustainable materials (waste material content) that provide the feeling of natural stone considering the entire product lifecycle. This paper shows how the DfSB approach can support the definition of design requirements of a training tool introducing children with CP to climbing as a natural approach to rehabilitation, making it accessible and inclusive. The project brings children with disabilities closer to the adapted sport through an indoor and democratic recreational activity. Bibliography 1. AA.VV. (2020). What is inclusive design? Resumen
We owe the term ‘complementary medicine’ (1932) to Max Friedemann (according to WoS data). Determining who first applied the term ‘complementary approach’ to science would not be easy. Historians and philosophers of science, as well as specialists in the general methodology of sciences, would easily argue that science  as a whole  is based on the complementary approach. Unfortunately, those accustomed to the separation of individual disciplines (among whom there is no shortage of novices and luminaries of science) miss the important detail that ignoring such an approach leads directly to the dehumanization of science and harms the foundations of sustainable human development en bloc in almost every respect. An inspiring source for such reasoning can be found in the maxim “Let none but geometers enter here” at the entrance to the olive grove that is Plato’s Academy (387 BC to 529 AD), dedicated to the Athenian hero Akademos. Whoever already knew geometry and was given the honour of taking the first and subsequent steps in this symbolic university of antiquity became a living example of the complementary approach. Looking at science precisely from a historical and symbolic perspective entitles us to assign some questions (i.e. issues worthy of being recognized as scientific) to each new step; it also entitles us to assign methods, means and tools (figuratively the compass, ruler, etc.) to answers to these questions. Over time, the generalized sets of questions and answers from symbolic geometry evolved into the general methodology of the sciences, as part of logic. The author of this outline of the methodological foundations of the complementary approach in contemporary scientific research was inspired by four main premises: the achievements of the Lviv-Warsaw school of logic and the methodology of sciences; praxeology (i.e. Tadeusz Kotarbiński’s proper methodology); Albert N. Whitehead’s reflection on Science and the Modern Word; and the cognitive and social mission of innovative agonology. A simple model of the social mission of science is expressed by the triad ‘curiosity - understanding - applications’. The first two terms, on the one hand, show the origin of science ‘from curiosity to satisfying the need for understanding’. On the other hand, they are directly related to the postulate of freedom of scientific research and any idealization of the mission of science. The third part, applications, is admittedly meant to emphasize the positive aspects of science and the hope that, through scientific discoveries, the mission of dignified survival of homo sapiens can be realized with a clear emphasis on respect for all life, the natural environment and human dignity. Unfortunately, the third part of the triad also includes numerous pathologies. The most dangerous are the interferences of authorities and interest groups at various levels in the freedom of science. A sophisticated way to satisfy the selfish goals of these entities is the instrumental use of scientists and the most competent research teams in a given field, with varying degrees of success. Concern for the freedom of science and the fulfilment of its social mission is a sufficient reason not to ignore these threats or the methodological possibilities of innovative agonology while respecting the complementary approach as a method of modern scientific research.

Resumen
Ethics and justice are central to advancing humanity and the human experience. An ethical and just world is the best possible world. Active effort encompassing all aspects of society, including the sciences, is almost certainly needed in order to achieve such a world. Moreover, the rate and breadth of scientific advancement and the societal benefits that result from science also depend on the promotion of inclusion, equity, and justice (IEJ). The framework developed here aims to 1) affirm the need for urgent cultural change toward a more inclusive, equitable, and just community; 2) honor, welcome, and serve all; 3) recognize and dismantle racist and inequitable systems and structures that have excluded, marginalized, or ignored people and communities; 4) promote a shared vision of success in IEJ for the WWC enterprise; 5) promote the inclusion of people from all groups within the enterprise and the equitable sharing of the benefits from science among all people; 6) inspire and enable all members of the enterprise to actively advance IEJ; 7) provide guidance, support, and resources to enable efforts across all levels of organization to advance IEJ; and 8) demonstrate a commitment to progress over the long term.
