Resumen
Category: Other Introduction/Purpose: In foot and ankle surgery, the fulfillment of patients’ preoperative expectations is a unique and validated method to assess postoperative success. Expectation fulfillment is closely associated with postoperative outcomes, satisfaction, and patient-reported improvement. Ideally, foot and ankle patients should have realistic expectations of surgery so that they are appropriately prepared for their postoperative symptoms and function. Inappropriately high expectations may predispose to worse outcomes because patients have unrealistic views about what their surgery can actually accomplish. Conversely, inappropriately low expectations may represent a lack of motivation to improve or participate in rehabilitation and postoperative protocols. This study aimed to identify the relationship between preoperative expectations and postoperative fulfillment. These results may facilitate surgeon-patient communication and help patients prepare for their operation and their postoperative function. Methods: Adult patients undergoing elective foot and ankle surgery at a single center were prospectively enrolled. Demographics, diagnosis, and outcomes surveys (Short Form [SF]-12, Foot & Ankle Outcome Score, improvement, satisfaction) were collected. Preoperatively, each patient completed the Expectations Survey (range 0-100, with 100 indicating maximum expectations), which asks about anticipated improvement in domains like pain, ambulation, function, and shoewear. Two years after surgery, for each expectation cited preoperatively, patients answered how much improvement they actually achieved. Using a ratio of the postoperative and preoperative scores, a Fulfillment Proportion (FP) was calculated, along with the minimal clinically important difference (MCID). This permitted identification of patients with unfulfilled, fulfilled, and surpassed expectations. Bivariate correlations, chi-square analyses, and multivariate regressions with 95% confidence intervals (CI) were performed to identify the relationship between preoperative expectations, clinical variables, and postoperative expectation fulfillment. Results: There were 271/340 (80%) patients with 2-year follow-up, with mean age 55.4 years and 65% female. Most common diagnoses were hallux valgus (25%), flatfoot (11%), hallux rigidus (11%), ankle arthritis (10%), and chronic tendon injury (9%). Expectation fulfillment differed significantly with extent of preoperative expectations (Figure). Patients with average/high expectations had higher rates of unfulfillment compared to patients with low preoperative expectations (40-41% vs. 22%). Rates of surpassed expectations were highest in patients with low preoperative expectations (23%) compared to average (12%) or high (0%) preoperative expectations (p<.001). In multivariate regression, the greatest predictor of postoperative FP was the preoperative expectations score (p<.001), and lower preoperative expectations conferred a 3.2x (95% CI 1.6-6.2) greater likelihood of more expectations fulfilled (p=.001). Conclusion: Preoperative expectations were a significant predictor of expectation fulfillment after foot and ankle surgery. Lower preoperative expectations were associated with fulfilled or surpassed expectations after surgery, whereas high preoperative expectations were significantly more likely to be unmet. These findings may help guide whether patients’ expectations are realistic or inappropriate preoperatively. It is imperative for surgeons to consider and discuss patients’ expectations prior to surgery to ensure they have an appropriate understanding of their potential outcome. Further research should be directed to the extent that patients’ preoperative expectations can be modified in order to maximize postoperative satisfaction.

Resumen
This paper argues for a careful (re)consideration of the expectations formation process and a more systematic inclusion of real-time expectations through survey data in macroeconomic analyses. While the rational expectations revolution has allowed for great leaps in macroeconomic modeling, the surveyed empirical microevidence appears increasingly at odds with the full-information rational expectation assumption. We explore models of expectation formation that can potentially explain why and how survey data deviate from full-information rational expectations. Using the New Keynesian Phillips curve as an extensive case study, we demonstrate how incorporating survey data on inflation expectations can address a number of otherwise puzzling shortcomings that arise under the assumption of full-information rational expectations. Resumen
Purpose – While the European organic regulation exists since more than 20 years consumers still do not seem to know what to expect from European Union (EU) labelled organic food. The purpose of this paper is to examine consumer expectations towards organic food in mature and emerging EU organic food markets. Design/methodology/approach – Online consumer survey data (n=1,180; 2011) from Germany, the UK, Spain, and the Czech Republic are used to analyse the question: “Which criteria would you expect of an organic food product labelled with the EU-organic label?”. In total, 23 items including organic production criteria according to EC 834/07 and unregulated food quality criteria are tested. Mean value analysis and exploratory factor analysis are performed. Findings – Consumers expect organic food to be free from chemical pesticides and mineral fertilisers. In total, two factors affect consumers’ expectations: naturalness of organic food products; additional sustainability aspects like, e.g. resource saving. However, several differences between the analysed countries exist. Although there does not seem to be a big gap between what consumers expect from organic food and what EU organic labelled products fulfil, some attributes might not mean the same to each consumer which could be a source of consumer disappointment. Practical implications – Consequently policy makers as well as market actors should take this risk seriously and use terms like “naturalness” only with great caution when promoting organic food. Originality/value – Further cross-country studies focusing on consumer expectations towards organic food are still needed, because until today only few studies deal with consumer and marketing issues in EU countries with different organic market development.

Resumen
<p>This research examines the novel ‘The Great Expectation’. Researchers are interested in analyzing this novel because it is a picture of real life, especially life in the United Kingdom in the days of Queen Victoria. As a realistic writer, Charles Dickens is through people’s descriptions reflect reality in his life time. This research uses the theory of semiotics which is collaborated with Karl Marx’s theory which reveals class strata. In the science of semiotics, everything, even humans can be made a sign, which can be developed into a myth of life. Seeing from the main actor’s novel, Pip, Everyone still has a lot to learn, such as his kindness, strength, and optimism. Individual growth is the process of growing into a perfect self. Although Pip’s great hopes are disappointing, he finally returns to good moral character, and starts a new life. In addition, this study analyzes the style of the main character Pip which has its own points in interpreting the style of dress. In this novel, researchers want to prove that the style of dress can be a tool to prove the formation of a person’s identity or the identity of a particular group that uses it.</p>

Resumen
The silence of the lambs is one of the most influential crime novels of its time. The author Thomas Harris vividly depicts the characters and their psychological activities. He created the atmosphere of tension and horror through unique methods, breaking through people’s horizon of expectation, and generating unprecedented experience to readers in the creation process of the novel. At the same time, he created characters that broke people’s prescribed interpretation of the protagonist of crime novels and exceeded readers’ expectations. The aim of this paper is to gain more insight into this great work from the perspective of Horizon of Expectation.

Resumen
Although much research has explored the personal, family, school, and social influences on adolescents' career expectations, little is known about the types of family-related career expectations of students and career expectation contexts in school. Using PISA 2018 test data, a multi-level latent profile analysis was conducted with indicators of parents' occupational status and children's career expectations. This research found that family-related career expectations of Estonian secondary school students can be divided into three types: enterprising, resilient, and disengaged. At the organizational level, contexts for career expectations in schools can be classified as enterprising, enterprising and resilient composite, and disengaged and resilient composite types. The research also found that science achievement and gender predicted latent profile memberships at the individual level. It is proposed that to value the science curriculum and its teaching is to invest in future human resources. It is suggested that families and schools should pay attention to stimulating male students' career aspirations. The career expectation types of secondary school students within and between schools are of great significance to the construction of national human resources, the development of schools, and the research of families. Keywords: career expectation types, multilevel latent profile analysis, PISA 2018 datasets, variations between schools, science achievement

Resumen
Through the case of EU foreign and security policy we reconsider the concept of great power. According to common wisdom, the EU cannot be a great power, whatever the pronouncements of its top officials may be. We argue that ‘great power’ has been miscast in IR theory as a status rather than as a social role, and, consequently, that the EU can indeed be viewed as playing the great power role. Such a conceptual shift moves analytical attention away from questions of what the EU is – ‘big’, ‘small’, ‘great’, and so on – to what it is expected to do in international politics. We focus on the expectation that great powers engage in the management of the international system, assessing the EU as a great power manager in two senses: first, in the classical sense of ‘great power management’ of Hedley Bull – which centers on great powers’ creation of regional spheres of influence and the maintenance of the general balance of power – and second, in light of recent corrections to Bull's approach by Alexander Astrov and others, who suggest great power management has changed toward a logic of governmentality, i.e. ‘conducting the conduct’ of lesser states.

Resumen
My thesis argues that Charles Dickens reflects the capitalist psychology of mid Victorian London in his novel Great Expectations. It is fully narrated in the first person and a time conquering master piece of Charles Dickens. In this novel, he touches on expectations in the life of diverse characters, the greatest of which being the expectation of Pip, the central character of the novel and also his moves from childhood to adulthood. He portrays how difficult it is for a lower class person to become a gentleman. The life for the upper class is easy but the life for the lower class is hard and painful in Victorian England. He vividly represents the existing picture of the society working in the minds of various characters and their expectations. Dickens's themes include wealth and poverty, love and rejection and the eventual triumph of good over evil. The purpose of this study is to describe the writer’s view of capitalism and its consequences such as ending of family units, illness, mutual exploitation, human passions, expectations and selfishness through character and plot.

The paper introduces the life story of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru and then analyzes the relationship between the two great people in India. After Gandhi’s death, Jawaharlal Nehru delivered the eulogy for commemorating his intimate comrade and respectful mentor Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of India. Under generic constraints based on audience’s expectation and need, the eulogy is analyzed from the perspectives of two major expectations and five basic functions. Through the rhetorical analysis of Jawaharlal Nehru’s eulogy, it can be concluded that a good eulogy should meet audiences’ two major expectations and five basic functions.

Resumen
SummaryThe relationship between female labour force participation, and other socioeconomic factors, and the probability of having a third birth is examined, using British data collected in the 1980 Women and Employment Survey, by hazard regression modelling with time-varying covariates. The results demonstrate the strong association between demographic factors, e.g. age at first birth and birth interval and subsequent fertility behaviour. Education appears to have little effect. Surprisingly, women who have spent a higher proportion of time as housewives have a lower risk of having a third birth. This finding is in sharp disagreement with the conventional expectation that cumulative labour force participation supports lower fertility. These findings are briefly compared with similar research carried out in Sweden.

Resumen
The article explores the linguistic characteristics of various social groups in the work of the English novelist Ch. Dickens “Great Expectations”. The authors analyzed and systematized the data obtained in the course of comparing the speech of people with different social status. Defining the relationship of language and social status, the authors found that the concept of social status can be viewed in several ways: as a mutual expectation realized at the speech level; as an awareness of the personality of their position in society, as well as the manifestation of personal qualities in the implementation of social status. In the course of comparative analysis, the authors highlight the following relationships of speech with the speaker’s status, such indicators of the speaker’s social status appear to be character`s rich vocabulary, use of reduced vocabulary, ability to make up grammatically correct a sentence, ability to maintain the conversation and follow ethical norms in speech.

Why then doe the en e linger that the research remains great theory, with little or no clas room impact? In Chapter 12 of the General Theory, on “The State of Long-Term Expectation,” Keynes writes: “It would be foolish, in forming our expectations, to attach great weight to matters which are very uncertain” (CW VII, p. 148). In a footnote to this sentence, Keynes points out that by “very uncertain” he does not mean the same as “very improbable” and refers to the chapter on “The Weight of Arguments” in his earlier Treatise on Probability (CW VIII, pp. 77–85). The purpose of this article, in the first place, is to provide an account of, and to sort out the relations between, Keynes's views on probability, uncertainty, and the weight of arguments.

Resumen
Charles Dickens’ Great Expectation actually did reflect the Victorian society and therefore the morality of that era’s people inside of the novel. Since we know that Victorian era basically present some features such as virtue, strength, thrift, manners, cleanliness, honesty and chastity. These are the morals that Victorian people used to hold with high esteem. In this novel Great Expectations, Dickens has created some Victorian characters whom we have seen both in good working way or not at all. But the protagonist named Pip was dynamic and he went through some several changes and dealt with different and significant moral issues. Somehow Pip left behind all the values he was raised with. Because Miss Havisham and Estella have corrupted Pip with rich life. Greed, beauty and arrogance were his ingredient of immoral life. The other characters like Joe and Biddy were static characters throughout the entire novel and became noticeable to be the manifestation of what we call as ideal Victorians. The main heroin of this novel was Estella with whom Pip thought he had some love connection. Hence, Estella has been presented as a good in the sense of potentiality and turned morally bad. Miss Havisham, who was basically a corrupt woman and she engraved the center of the novel. Great Expectations did disclose how was the situation of Victorian society through some important features such as higher class, corrupted judicial system between rural and urban England. Here in this novel, Dickens was concern about the education system in Victorian era where the lower class people get less opportunities of getting proper education. From the beginning to the end of this novel, Dickens explored some significant issues regarding higher and lower class system of Victorian society which did fluctuate from the greatest woeful criminal named Magwitch to the needy people of the swamp country, where Joe and Biddy were the symbol of that regime. After that we can proceed to the middle class family where Pumblechook was the person to represent that regime. Last but not the least Miss Havisham symbolized and bear flag of very rich and sophisticated Victorian woman who has represented the higher class society in the novel Great Expectations. Hence we can say Great Expectations has talked and displayed the class system of Victorian England and the characters of this novel therefore also did uphold the true reflection of Victorian era.

Resumen
Robert Graves, who in his literary and artistic work combined historical legitimacy, mythology and poetic intuition, sought to create a religious concept which is capable of responding to the moral and spiritual expectations of the modern man, and this expectation found its ideal embodiment in his conceptual idea of the Great Goddess. Like other sensitive followers of the Great Goddess, Robert Graves once saw the awakening of the universal spirit. Many poets, such as Robert Graves, William Butler Yates, Aleister Crowley, Ezra Pound, presented themselves as apostles of the Great God, although they could not pass through the abyss of the phenomenal world, drowned in the waters of their own reflections and spirituality, and became instruments of the Great Goddess. In the Graves' concept, the supposed Great Goddess represents the Divine Child as the fruit of a ''mysterious marriage'' in unity with the other half of this child as the unity of opposites, and the new God, symbolized by the Black Goddess (black and white, expresses intelligence),it will create a new state of consciousness. The Black Goddess must assimilate opposites in the human psyche, in other words, a harmonious substitution will take place. Although Robert Graves came up with an important concept related to the new religion, new consciousness, new world order, he is not optimistic about the development of humanity and the transition to a new religion.

Resumen
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the expectations of patients awaiting surgical treatment of lumbar canal stenosis and the association of Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) with symptoms of anxiety and depression. METHODS: The sample included 49 patients from a university hospital. HRQoL was assessed by the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and 36-item Medical Outcomes Survey Short Form (SF-36) and symptoms of anxiety and depression by the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). Expectations were investigated by means of questions used in international studies. Data were analyzed descriptively and by Student's t test. RESULTS: The mean time of disease progression was 34.5 months, the mean age was 58.8 years and 55.1% of the patients were women. Most patients had the expectation of improving with surgical treatment and 46.9% expected to be "much better" with regard to leg pain, walking ability, independence in activities and mental well being. The scores of anxiety and depression were respectively, 34.7% and 12.2%. We observed statistically significant differences between the groups with and without anxiety in the domains: General Health, Mental Health, and Vitality. Between the groups with and without depression there were statistically significant differences in the General Health and Mental Health domains. CONCLUSION: Patients showed great expectation to surgical treatment and the symptoms of anxiety and depression were related to some domains of HRQoL. Thus, the study contributes to broaden our knowledge and we can therefore guide the patients as to their expectations with respect to the real possibilities arising from surgery.

Resumen
Jehovah’s Witnesses is often presented as a special religious group, one who has preached the imminence of the end of the world for an exceptional long amount of time. The implicit assumption in this statement, is also this article’s hypothesis: an imminent eschatological expectation will, over time, create an explanatory problem, where religions, for the sake of their own survival, must revise and adapt their eschatological expectations. This article examines this hypothesis by analysing the eschatological expectations presented in Jehovah’s Witnesses magazine The Watchtower, from 1985 through 2015. With the use of Roy Rappaports theory, supplemented with some new terms to make the theory fit the case of Jehovah’s Witnesses, it analyses the developments and adaptations in Jehovah’s Witnesses eschatological doctrines, and shows numerous signs of a religious organization that may be headed towards great changes in the immanent character of its eschatological beliefs.

Resumen
The article analyzes the phenomenon of “Trumpism,” which brought hopes for its renewal and expectation of changes into traditional American politics. “Trumpism” swung at the power of the Deep State and showed America that it is historically, mentally, culturally, and economically fragmented. The paternalism of American democrats toward a certain part of the country’s population, which Trump positions as “communism,” opposes the true America, which is personified by the states of the “rusty belt” and its working class. “Trumpism” sees the true rebirth of America in a policy of sound national egoism and in America’s focus on itself. For opponents of President Donald Trump, his return to power means another immersion of the ruling elite in the fight against many unknown things, when the political “behind the scenes” has already come out of the shadows and has shown its actual goals.

At present, the branding of Linhai broccoli has the problems of insufficient depth of characteristic connotation and low degree of industrialization. According to the four commonly used marketing methods (wholesale, offline retail, and online sales), this paper defines four target users of broccoli: wholesalers, tourists, offline retail users, and network users. Through the ergonomics research method, the target user's expectation analysis of broccoli is carried out, so as to expand the possibility of broccoli industrialization. It was found that the target users had great expectations for the expansion of the usable range of broccoli. Therefore, this paper takes each sales channel as the breakthrough point, deeply excavates the characteristics and connotation of agricultural products, and combines the regional cultural characteristics to establish a visual communication system for Linhai broccoli.

Resumen
Abstract This essay inquires into the meaning and usage of eikos, an important term in early Greek rhetorical theory. Based on a survey of 394 uses of the verb eoika (of which eikos is the neuter perfect participle) in texts ranging from Homer to Isocrates, it argues that the traditional translation of eikos as “probability” is in some ways misleading. Specifically, the essay proposes: 1) that “to be similar” is the core meaning of eoika, 2) that all other senses of eoika can be seen as extensions of the “similarity” sense, 3) that the “befittingness” sense of eikos continued to be of great importance in the early Attic orators, and 4) that the sense of eikos as that which is befitting or socially expected, and the sense of eikos as that which is verisimilar, work in tandem in the “profiling” strategy of some eikos arguments.

Resumen
OF ALL THE REMAINING COMMUNIST PARTY STATES THE Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) would appear to have the most to fear from the 1989 democratic revolutions that swept Eastern Europe. The regime of Kim I1 Sung remains unmoved and unreformed, but is certainly not unconcerned about the events that have taken place among its former socialist bloc allies. To an outside observer the Pyongyang regime gives the impression of being almost frozen in time, with no real progress having taken place in either the economic or political spheres over the last twenty years. When the Ceauaescu regime in Romania crumbled amid bloodshed in the closing days of the 1980s, many analysts’ attention turned in great expectation to the autocratic regime of the world's longest-serving political leader. The epitaph of the Kim regime was being prepared in earnest. Although the last twelve months have hardly been reassuring for the Kim Regime, communist party rule has been maintained and Kim's personal standing inside North Korea remains intact.

Resumen
An expectation of perfect and close to ideal outcomes is attributed not only to aesthetic, but also to reconstructive surgery. Contrary to quite common belief and despite great potential, the real chances for achieving attractive appearance are limited to relatively simple cases with moderately abnormal morphology, sufficient homogenous material, and hardly conspicuous scars potential. Therefore, the expectations for fully satisfactory outcomes should be limited to jaw surgery, cosmetic rhinoplasty, otoplasty, and some rejuvenation procedures, provided the best and uneventful surgery is secured. On the basis of over 40 years of clinical practice (KK) and survey of about 30,000 photos presenting both early and long term outcomes, the authors present their own subjective opinion on the value and potential of plastic surgery with regard to aesthetic evaluation. The paper is illustrated by numerous examples of plastic and esthetic procedures.

Resumen
Aleš Erjavec proposed the global philosophical quadrilateral, giving Chinese philosophy, aesthetics, and humanities an expectation. However, the realization of this expectation hinges on the question whether Chinese philosophy as well as aesthetics and the humanities can rid themselves of the staggering level of ‘voice’ and develop their ‘speech’. To make ‘speech’, any nation should have its own idea, theory and Zhuyi. How to overcome the embarrassment that ‘quadrilateral’ expectation implies? Time spatialization and four-phase development theories of the Bie-modern, and great leap forward pause theory have provided an answer. The quadrilateral expectation as shown by Aleš Erjavec, is encountering the antagonism between ‘cosmopolitanism’ and ‘nationalism’. The key to resolving this antagonism is ‘my’ original achievement consisting of ‘Chinese traditional philosophy, Western philosophy, Marxism and I (myself)’. Bie-modernism is a Zhuyi of self-regulation, self-renewal and self-transcendence and of their practical implementation. Resumen
With the explosive growth of information and the increase of people’s fragmented time, the knowledge payment industry’s market size is growing. However, the heterogeneity between online knowledge payment behavior and traditional consumption gradually comes to the fore. It is of great practical significance to analyze the factors influencing users’ online knowledge payment behavior and clarify users’ online knowledge payment mechanism. Based on UTAUT theory, this study uses statistics, structural equation modeling, and mediating effect analysis to construct a theoretical model of the influencing factors of users’ payment behavior of knowledge payment platform from the user level, knowledge-provider level, and platform level. The findings show that content quality, peer influence, KOL influence, perceived interaction, effort expectation, and perceived trust significantly affect users’ willingness-to-pay and have an indirect effect on users’ paying behavior through their willingness-to-pay. Perceived cost, perceived interaction, content quality, peer influence, performance expectation, and effort expectation directly and significantly affect user paying behavior. By regulating the above elements, the improvement of customer attraction ability of online knowledge platforms can be realized.

Resumen
The financial crisis that broke out in mid-2007 has spread in the existing financial system with great instability favoring the devaluation of currencies with the fall in market interest rates. This has caused potential investors to become more risk-averse and therefore, look for financial products, although lower profitability, also poses less risk. Following this line, it is the Fixed Income assets that have acquired greater prominence in these times of crisis. This article highlights the strength of the expectation theory in different tranches, using EURIBOR rate to determine implicit forwards, and estimate the price of a one-year swap contract with 3 months of maturity, and comparing in every moment with the real prices of swap as a benchmark. SWAP is the bigger derivative inside of the group of Fixed Income Assets. After the quantitative analyst, it has been observed how the theory prevails of sceneries of low volatility but falls on sceneries when the volatility starts to increase. Introduction. One of the basic assumptions about financial theory is talking about the expectations theory. Since the middle of the eighties, this theory has been used as the unbiased estimator to calculate the swap interest rate in the base of the spot bank interest rate. Aim. Quantitativa analyst of the steadiness of expectations theory in differents economical cycles, using the European Central bank as the source to get hold of the EURIBOR spot rates for 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12months from 2004 to 2016. Results. During the periods before the crisis 2007, the prices of the IRSWAP are almost adjusted between the market and what the financial theory says. The situation starts to change after the financial crisis when the volatility of the market starts to increase due to the instability of the banking sector and traders started with speculations strategies forgetting the aim of hedging, operating, new positions the majority in the short term. Conclusion. Whether for speculative reason or interventions actions of the monetary authority, the theory e “EXPECTATIONS THEORY”, it is not an efficient predictor with out using a premium risk, during the periods of high volatility.
