Resumen
AbstractBased on the self-determination theory (Deci and Ryan, 1985, 2000), the purpose of this study was to examine the effects of exercise goal contents on exercise addiction, taking into account the mediating effects of passion for exercise. A total of 384 university students (284 men and 100 women; Mage = 20.31, SD = 3.10) completed a questionnaire that measured exercise frequency and intensity, exercise goal contents (e.g. intrinsic: social affiliation, health management, skill development; extrinsic: image and social recognition), passion for exercise (e.g. harmonious and obsessive), and exercise addiction. After controlling the exercise frequency and intensity effects, results showed that goal contents did not directly predict exercise addiction. However, mediation analysis showed that goal contents predicted addiction through passion for exercise. These results support a motivational sequence in which extrinsic versus intrinsic goals influence exercise addiction because such goals are positively associated with obsessive passion for exercise and negatively associated with harmonious passion.

Resumen
Goals are central to exercise motivation, although not all goals (e.g., health vs. appearance goals) are equally psychologically or behaviorally adaptive. Within goal content theory (Vansteenkiste, Niemiec, & Soenens, 2010), goals are adaptive to the extent to which they satisfy psychological needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness. However, little is known about what exercisers pursuing different goals are feeling, doing, thinking, and paying attention to that may help to explain the association between goal contents and need satisfaction. Using semistructured interviews and interpretative phenomenological analysis, we explored experiences of exercise among 11 adult exercisers who reported pursuing either predominantly intrinsic or extrinsic goals. Four themes emerged: (a) observation of others and resulting emotions, (b) goal expectations and time perspective, (c) markers of progress and (d) reactions to (lack of) goal achievement. Intrinsic and extrinsic goal pursuers reported divergent experiences within these four domains. The findings illuminate potential mechanisms by which different goals may influence psychological and behavioral outcomes in the exercise context.

Resumen
Purpose Based on the goal content theory (GCT), the purpose of this paper is to focus on the essence of goals and examine the associations between different work goal contents (intrinsic and extrinsic goals) and work performance. Design/methodology/approach The data were collected from 279 employees and their immediate supervisors, and the theoretical hypotheses were tested by correlation and hierarchal regression analyses. Findings The results of the analyses showed that intrinsic goal content positively predicted task performance, dedicative performance, interpersonal performance, and adaptive performance and that extrinsic goal content positively predicted the task performance and adaptive performance; intrinsic goals were also found to enhance the relationship between extrinsic goals and task performance. Originality/value The contribution of the current study is that it explores whether both extrinsic goals and intrinsic goals can contribute to predicting work performance. Moreover, different from previous studies that focus on discussing the separate effects of intrinsic and extrinsic goals on outcomes, the authors aim to study the interaction effect between these goals, which enriches GCT.

Resumen
Abstract. This paper deals with parental goals for children, that is, goals parents want their children to attain by the time they reach adulthood. Presenting an adaption of the German Aspirations Index to assess parental goals for children (AI-PG), factorial structure and psychometric properties in a nonclinical sample of German parents of children between 10 and 15 years of age were investigated. Parents (NT1 = 948; NT2 = 670) rated the importance of different parental goals for children. The AI-PG structure was first examined in a subsample of mothers using confirmatory factor analyses. Main results provided support for the hypothesized hierarchical factorial structure. Accordingly, the given 21 items can be assigned to seven first-order factors that reflect goal-contents, and two second-order factors that reflect goals’ motivational orientation as either intrinsic or extrinsic. The questionnaire shows good psychometric properties (i.e., homogeneity, model-based reliability, and stability). Multiple-group analyses confirmed measurement invariance across informants (mothers and fathers), gender of target children (daughters and sons), and measurement time points. Small but significant relationships of the scales with need-threatened environment, parenting practices, and child internalizing behavior problems added to the scale’s construct validity. Results are discussed in terms of the fruitfulness of a concept of parental goals for children within self-determination theory.

Resumen
According Sebire, Standage and Vansteenkiste (2008), goals contents (motives) are the major drivers of behavior, giving rise to the goal content theory, which is in the basis of Goal Content for Exercise Questionnaire (GCEQ: Sebire et al., 2008) development. So, the main goal of present study was to conduct the validation of GCEQ for a sample of Portuguese elderly (n = 311), with equal or higher ages than 60 years old (M = 68.53; DP = 6.69). The main results show us that CGEQ measurement model (5 factors, 20 items) only present adequate fit to data after the elimination of 3 items: S-Bχ²=219.9, df=109, p=.001, SRMR=.049, TLI=.916, CFI=.934, RMSEA=.057, RMSEA 90% CI=.046-.068, PCFI=.747). Besides that, the 5 factors show us acceptable values of composite reliability: between .76 and .88. Those findings allow us to conclude that GCEQ with 5 factors and 17 items can be used to measure goal content in a population of elderly Portuguese people in physical activity domain.

Resumen
The present paper sets out to consider cognitive abilities development depending on learning and educational goals. Three standpoints and their effects on the quality of cognition are opposed: determination of tasks and goals beforehand, non-determination of tasks and goals beforehand, and alternative models where general and specific goals are planned specification being left to curriculum executors. Thereafter, consideration is given to the learning theories where it is insisted either upon learner?s individual activities or upon planning of learning context which contains interrelations between teachers, learners and contents. Emphasis is placed on a discrepancy between theoretical ideas providing good reasons for independently constructed knowledge evaluation, on the one hand, and school practice that commonly does not attribute great importance to such knowledge on the other hand. How the development of cognitive abilities will proceed in teaching depends largely on teachers themselves - their understanding of tasks and goals, qualifications they possess for school subject they teach manner of executing instruction, and familiarity with student personality needs. We can accept the standpoint that we need the theory focusing straight on education, but must be broad enough to embrace both individual and contextual perspective as well as activities of both teachers and students.

Although efforts are being made by domestic and foreign writers, it lacks standard level wise Nepali grammar. Therefore, the main goal of it is to develop standard level wise Nepali grammar by keeping standard grammatical contents regarding level. Primary and secondary sources were used to collect data, and qualitative analysis was performed through library work, comparative method and descriptive method. In various grammar studies alphabets, letters, syllable structure, word class, gender, number, person, tense, aspect, sense, voice, negative and positive, vocabulary, sentence difference, spelling, causative verb, idioms and definitional words are included. There is no clear boundary for grammar in different levels such as lower secondary Nepali grammar. Secondary Nepali grammar and expression, compulsory Nepali for proficiency level, higher secondary Nepali grammar and expression, and graduate level (301). It seems there is uncertainty rather than uniformity during teaching-learning. Therefore, particularly Nepali grammar should be developed to get rid of such situation and to compensate its lack.

Resumen
We created a life-goal assessment drawing from self-determination theory and achievement goal literature, examining its predictive power regarding immoral behavior and subjective well-being. Our source items assessed direction and energization of motivation, via the distinction between intrinsic and extrinsic aims and between intrinsic and extrinsic reasons for acting, respectively. Fused source items assessed four goal complexes representing a combination of direction and energization. Across three studies ( Ns = 109, 121, and 398), the extrinsic aim/extrinsic reason complex was consistently associated with immoral and/or unethical behavior beyond four source and three other goal complex variables. This was consistent with the triangle model of responsibility’s claim that immoral behaviors may result when individuals disengage the self from moral prescriptions. The extrinsic/extrinsic complex also predicted lower subjective well-being, albeit less consistently. Our goal complex approach sheds light on how self-determination theory’s goal contents and organismic integration mini-theories interact, particularly with respect to unethical behavior.

In the real world, structured data are increasingly represented by graphs. In general, the applications concern the most varied fields, and the data need to be represented in terms of local and spatial connections. In this scenario, the goal is to provide a structure for the representation of a digital image, called the Attributed Relational SIFT-based Regions Graph (ARSRG), previously introduced. ARSRG has not been described in detail, and for this purpose, it is important to explore unknown aspects. In this regard, the goal is twofold: first, to provide a basic theory, which presents formal definitions, not yet specified above, clarifying its structural configuration; second, experimental, which provides key elements about adaptability and flexibility to different applications. The combination of the theoretical and experimental vision highlights how the ARSRG is adaptable to the representation of the images including various contents.

Resumen
The present study explores the contents and functions of inspirational memes addressing happiness in two cultural contexts, Finnish and Italian. Inspirational memes are understood as a mode of present-day folk wisdom conveying advice that can be easily memorized, shared and applied in everyday life. The material consists of 709 memes collected from Instagram and Facebook in 2019 (N=353 in Finnish; N=356 in Italian). The theoretical background of the study draws from social representation theory. The analysis shows that the contents and functions of inspirational memes addressing happiness are similar in the Finnish and Italian contexts. Five common themes were identified: “the self”, “the others”, “the life goal”, “the here & now”, and “the pointless search”. Furthermore, the social representation of happiness within the material is organized around a fundamental dichotomy: on the one hand, happiness can be built, and detailed advice is dispensed on how this can be achieved; on the other hand, building happiness is represented as an unattainable goal, and supporting this view is the idea that happiness is found in the moment. The dichotomy implies a social representation that emphasizes internal factors of the individual and plays down the role of external circumstances in achieving happiness.

Resumen
Purpose Integrating laboratory work into interactive engineering eLearning contents augments theory with practice while simultaneously ameliorating the apparent theory-practice gap in traditional eLearning. The purpose of this paper is to assess and recommend media that currently fulfil this desirable dual pedagogical goal. Design/methodology/approach The qualitative approach compares the eLearner-content interactivity deriving from Mathematica’s Computable Document File (CDF) application, Pearson’s myLab and Lucas-Nuelle’s UniTrain-I. Illustrative interactive examples written in JavaScript and Java are thereby drawn from an engineering eLearning course developed at the University of Botswana (UB). Findings Based on its scientific rigour, wide application scope, engineering analytical depth, minimal programming requirements and cross-subject-cum-faculty application and deployment potential, the authors found the CDF to be a versatile environment for generating dynamically interactive eLearning contents. The UniTrain-I, blending a multimedia information and communication technology (ICT)-based interactive eLearner-content philosophy with practical laboratory experimentation, is recommended for meeting the paper’s dual eLearning goal as the most adept framework to-date, blending dynamic interactive eLearning content with laboratory hands-on engineering experimentation. Research limitations/implications The lack of other competing frameworks limited the considerations to only the three mentioned above. Consequently, the results are subject to review as the ongoing research advances new insights. Originality/value The conclusions help eLearning designers plan ICT-based resources for integration into practical electrical engineering eLearning pedagogy and both CDF and UniTrain-I help dispel the prevailing apparent disquiet regarding the effectiveness of the eLearning-mediated electrical engineering pedagogy. In addition, the cited examples document an original electrical engineering eLearning course developed at the UB.

Resumen
Facet Theory is a research strategy that integrates formal analysis of research contents (using the tool of the mapping sentence) with intrinsic data analysis (multivariate procedures such as Faceted Smallest Space Analysis (FSSA) and Multiple Scaling by Partial Order Scalogram Analysis by base Coordinates (POSAC)). The integration of content design and data analysis is argued to be essential for theory construction and meaningful measurement in the behavioral sciences that typically study complex systems with many, possibly infinitely many, variables. Mapping sentences permit the balanced selection of observational variables from the content universe studied. Focusing on observed variables (columns of the data matrix), FSSA creates a geometric representation of the concept-space and partitions it into regions, thus enabling the systematic investigation of the concept structure. Focusing on the observed individuals (rows of the data matrix), POSAC provides optimal measurement scales for the individuals' assessment. Traditional prediction models assume the existence of factors (underlying variables), by which both variables and individuals can be evaluated, which determine empirical observations. Modern facet theory shows that two kinds of factors are at work: facets (partitionings) of the concept-space, for evaluating variables; and scales (coordinates) of the measurement space, for evaluating individuals. The two factor types point to two roads for attaining the goal of prediction. Mathematical results in Multiple Scaling, and especially the introduction of the newly devised coefficient of structural similarity, contribute to the convergence of the two roads.

The article tackles with the role that Kantian notion of temperament plays within his theory of practical freedom. With this purpose, we will connect Kant’s approach to temperaments with the classical Greek approach to this principle of classification, in order to recognize in it the means to feel the passage of time and also the conditions of our relation to the world, that is, a physiological-empirical background for the exercise of freedom that, without being moral, shelter contents which reason will only try to reform, without expecting to silence it entirely. Our final goal is to extract relevant observations to answer adequately to Kant’s question What is Man?

Though the development of wisdom is a primary goal of higher education, it has received little empirical attention in an entrepreneurship education (EE) context. We conduct a preliminary, exploratory investigation into the teaching of wisdom in EE. Applying Sternberg’s (1998) balance theory of wisdom, we examine whether entrepreneurship courses deliver on the potential of wisdom development by studying the syllabi of 50 university entrepreneurship courses from around the world. We also examine the contents of the major entrepreneurship textbooks used in EE classrooms today. We find that both textbook use and course design are negatively related to the development of wisdom in the classroom. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

Abstract: In this modern world, due to the excessive availability of the Internet, it is extremely easy for people to communicate and share multimedia contents with each other. Moreover, Online Transactions has also been widely developed, in which secure means of data transfer play the major role. At the same time, secure transfer of personal and copyrighted data has become a critical issue. Visual cryptography (VC) is a useful tool for securing data (i.e. images, texts) that contain sensitive information. As a subset of secret sharing, VC has got importance for its security mechanism, which takes into account both image processing and cryptography. To achieve this goal, we manipulate quick response (QR) code as a container. QR codes generated by a certain system can carry its ordinary message in addition to the secure data. Anyone can read the message, but the secure data can only be obtained using a secret key. In this paper, a specified field of Mathematics, Number Theory is implemented in the concepts of VC for the secure online transactions which is achieved using QR codes.

Resumen
Traditional approaches to human information processing tend to deal with perception and action planning in isolation, so that an adequate account of the perception-action interface is still missing. On the perceptual side, the dominant cognitive view largely underestimates, and thus fails to account for, the impact of action-related processes on both the processing of perceptual information and on perceptual learning. On the action side, most approaches conceive of action planning as a mere continuation of stimulus processing, thus failing to account for the goal-directedness of even the simplest reaction in an experimental task. We propose a new framework for a more adequate theoretical treatment of perception and action planning, in which perceptual contents and action plans are coded in a common representational medium by feature codes with distal reference. Perceived events (perceptions) and to-be-produced events (actions) are equally represented by integrated, task-tuned networks of feature codes – cognitive structures we call event codes. We give an overview of evidence from a wide variety of empirical domains, such as spatial stimulus-response compatibility, sensorimotor synchronization, and ideomotor action, showing that our main assumptions are well supported by the data.

Resumen
The present paper is devoted to analysis of cognitive and pragmatic aspects of food representation in the media discourse as well as peculiarities of language means of such representation. The paper investigates the language means used for realization of the “Food as a Source of danger” cognitive model in the Russian media discourse. The paper also studies connection between cognitive models’ realization and the journalists’ pragmatic goals aimed at negative representation of food in the media discourse. The study also analyzed the cognitive models’ dominant components. The authors come to a conclusion that foregrounding such components as participants, food and drink, characteristics of the object (food), action, consequences and others is determined by journalists’ pragmatic goals aimed at drawing attention to particular dishes or preventing the negative consequences of eating. Filling the components of the cognitive model with particular contents by means of the language units results in fulfilling the journalist’s pragmatic goal. The paper makes a contribution into such branches of linguistics as cognitive semantics, pragmatics, media-linguistics, theory of text and discourse. The results of the undertaken research can be used for analyzing realization of cognitive models in other types of discourse as well as in theoretical courses on text linguistics, discourse analysis, media-linguistics.

Resumen
Over the past two decades, social responsibility (SR) has become a key principle of many private sector entities that aim for business excellence. Similarly, in the public sector, the latest public governance models (PGMs) are based on the selected public governance principles (e.g. consensus orientation, participation, equity and inclusiveness) directed at connecting and including all types of stakeholders in decision-making and carrying out the activities of public sector organisations. Yet, there is insufficient reliable empirical evidence with respect to the relationship between social responsibility and the underlying principles of PGMs. The principal goal of the article is thus to identify the relationship between the concept of social responsibility and consensus orientation, which is one of the main theoretically and practically grounded principles of PGMs. This goal is addressed by applying the QDA Miner software package and analysing the contents of the 100 most relevant scientific papers from the Web of Science database. Specifically, the relationship between occurrence of the ‘consensus orientation’ principle and SR is identified and quantified, revealing the importance of the latter. Moreover, different PGMs are analysed in terms of consensus orientation and SR enforcement, providing tangible guidelines to help advance theory and practice in the domain of public governance.

Resumen
The purpose of the research is to find a theoretical basis for designing the programme of the Applied Physical Education course considering the theory of modern education contents. The subject of the research is the process of nurturing HEI students’ skills (competencies) for Applied Physical Education. To achieve the goal we used a system of scientific and pedagogical methods: theoretical analysis of scientific pedagogical literature, pedagogical observation, surveys, pedagogical planning. Thus, the analysis of scientific literature made it possible to identify the most appropriate approach to work out the programme of the elective course on Applied Physical Education that is based on universal culture principles and meets modern requirements of the society for the professional training of HEI students. The theory of modern education is a system of elements of social experience: knowledge systems, experience in performing well-known activities, emotion and value relationships, experience in creative activities, revealed in various fields and spheres, in academic subjects and programmes which can serve as the basis for nurturing students' competencies

Resumen
Promotion of physical activity has become a global priority for public health. While many people do not adhere to the recommendations, sport and exercise maintainers have found their right or fitting practice. Thus, assessing and knowing the participation motives across maintainers helps to improve our understanding of the sports and exercise practices and, thus, to recommend and to design physical activities and programmes that fit to individuals’ motives. A modified version of the Bernese Motive and Goal Inventory was used in an Austria-wide cross-sectional study with 10646 sport and exercise maintainers (43% female). The study performed confirmatory factor analysis, examined measurement invariance, and compared participation motives. The results showed a good model fit and measurement invariance, indicating that the inventory can be applied independently of gender, age and years of sport/exercise experiences. Motives differed among gender, age and type of sports/exercise. Therefore, these variables should be considered in tailoring sport recommendations and interventions to promote adherence. Finally, the results are discussed by using the Self-Determination Theory indicating that sport and exercise maintainers pursue predominantly motives with intrinsic goal contents.

Resumen
The objective of this qualitative study is to examine the content of the fifth-year social studies textbook taught by the country, whether the content is relevant to the country's goal of a Single National Curriculum, and whether it addresses the future needs of society. The textbook contains Pakistan studies, history, geography, and economics. The findings show that the contents of the social studies textbook were relevant to the objectives of SNC but activities and model work were not as mental age of students as per psychological development mentioned in Piaget's theory of cognitive development. Children of age 7-11 can learn rules and responsibilities effectively, but logically in the developing stage, they might experience difficulty in grasping the legitimate implications of those standards in uncommon environments. It was recommended that content distribution should follow Piaget's developmental stage- based model and content selection should be based on the breadth and depth of concepts contained in the SNC.

Resumen
This qualitative study is one of the early attempts to provide empirical evidence to inform Interest-Driven Creator (IDC) theory through a discrete Educational Technology course. In this study involving 64 undergraduate students who majored in education, we focused on the interest loop (triggering, immersing and extending) as it acts as an impetus to nurturing habitual learners. Qualitative data were sought to answer two research questions that explored student teachers’ initial interest in learning educational technology and to understand the development of their interest using IDC as the underpinning theory. The findings indicated that they initially showed little interest in the course. However, others felt good about and were drawn towards educational technology. The findings also indicated that interest development begins when situational interest is triggered and they become aroused by the course contents. The student teachers then willingly spend time accomplishing the given task when immersed in the learning process with a clear goal. They then progress to extend their interest, making sense of their newly acquired knowledge and connecting with other previously known knowledge to expand it further. Overall, our findings suggested that the interest loop of IDC was able to describe the development of student teachers’ interest in educational technology.

Resumen
The subject of analysis in the article is the process of formation of the theory of economic modernization. The goal is to find out the main regularities of formation and its practical use. Methods of analysis include historical-logical analysis and synthesis. The results of the work are reflected in the following conclusions: modernization theory at its current state is not complete. No definition that would fully reveal the contents of the category has been coined yet, and the main branches of economic science do not pay proper attention to modernization as an independent subject of study. Certain aspects of the modernization of the economy, as subsidiary conclusions, were considered in the studies of economic dynamics, economic growth and cyclicality. The ideas of J. Schumpeter can be important for overcoming this vision of modernization. Synthesis of the main approaches to the theoretical and practical thinking on modernization allows one to distinguish the broad and narrow meanings. If the first of these meanings refers to the development and transformation of the entire social order, the other is the development of one of the spheres of social activity. Among the application areas of contemporary modernization of the Russian economy, the market-liberal model and the new (second) industrialization of the country can be pointed out. But both can be implemented only as an organic unity. The results of the study can be used in teaching of macroeconomics , in determining the strategy for the development of the economy as a whole and at the regional level.

Resumen
The paper focuses on various concepts deepening the term of „security“, on the Copenhagen school concept of societal sector of security, but also human security and the application of the acculturation theory. Human security is a concept, in which the deepening of contents of the term „security“ goes from a macro-level to a micro-level. The traditional concept of security takes into account only the state level and understands threats only to the state in itself, whereas human security redirects the attention towards the individual people. Societal sector, on the other hand, speaks of non-military threats to society and deepens the security concept even further. Based on the assumption, that the extent of risks to the receiving state depends on the effectiveness of incorporation of immigrants, the goal of the article is to apply the acculturation to the process of incorporation of immigrants into the majority population in order to minimize the negative impacts stemming from immigration.

Resumen
The article is devoted to the analysis of cognitive and pragmatic aspects of food representation in media discourse as well as peculiarities of the language means of such representation. The language means used for the realization of cognitive models referring to the spheres of entertainment, cooking and eating as well as the models referring to the negative aspects of food representation in Russian media discourse are investigated. The article also studies the connection between the realization of cognitive models and journalists’ pragmatic goals aimed at a positive or negative representation of food in media discourse. The cognitive models’ dominant components are analyzed. The promotion of such components as participants, food and drink, place, entertainment, characteristics of the object (food), action, consequences, etc., is driven by journalists’ pragmatic goals aimed at drawing attention to particular dishes or preventing the negative consequences of consuming a certain food. Filling the components of the cognitive model with particular contents by means of language units results in achieving the journalist’s goal. The article also investigates the connection between various spheres of human life established by the representation of food. The authors refer to the peculiarities of the realization of the cognitive model “Food as a source of danger”. The results of the undertaken research can be used for analyzing the realization of cognitive models in other types of discourse as well as in theoretical courses on text linguistics, discourse analysis, and media linguistics.

Resumen
Marxist outlook on the people is an important part of Marxist theory and one of the important contents of historical materialism. Starting from the realistic man, Marx expounded that the premise of the development of human history is the existence of a living individual. On the basis of practice, we can see that the people are the creators of history. Taking the realization of everyone’s free and all-round development as the value goal, it points out the direction of the development of human society. The Communist Party of China has always adhered to and innovated Marx’s outlook on the people, formed a “people-centered” outlook on the people, and realized the new development of Marx’s outlook on the people in the new era of China. In the new era, adhering to the Marxist concept of the people has important values of the times. It provides theoretical weapons for maintaining ideological security, points out the right direction for party building, gathers strength for realizing the great dream, and provides dynamic support for coping with the great changes.

Resumen
The calibration of the EFL teaching and learning approaches with Artificial Intelligence can potentially facilitate a smart transformation, fostering a personalized and engaging experience in teaching and learning among the stakeholders. The paper focuses on developing an EFL Big Data Ecosystem that is based on Big Data, Analytics, Machine Learning and cluster domain of EFL teaching and learning contents. The framework has been developed on the basis of the theory that machine learning algorithms, when exposed to structured or semi-structure data stored in the cluster domains of EFL Big Data ecosystem, can cull out the patterns, similarities, and differences existing in the contents of the domains. Later these machine learning algorithms can apply these already identified patterns to perform new tasks on open Big Data platform and identify similar contents to be stored in the respective cluster domain of EFL Bigdata Ecosystem without being supervised. Accordingly, the paper uses two membranes to construe its framework, namely (i) Open Big Data Membrane that stores random data collected from various source domains and (ii) Machine Learning Membrane that stores specially prepared structured and semi-structured data. Theoretically, the structured and semi structured data are to be prepared skill-wise, attribute-wise, method-wise, and preference-wise to accommodate the personalized preferences and diverse teaching and learning needs of different individuals. Within the machine learning membrane, the paper includes a number of stages such as knowledge building, development of cluster domain of the EFL contents, integration of skill-wise cluster domain with the CEFR attribute-wise teaching and learning approaches, machine learning of the personalized preferences, resonating, machine learning of the cluster domain for proximity development and sustainable operation. The ultimate goal is to optimize the learning experience by leveraging machine learning to create tailored content that aligns with the diverse teaching and learning needs of the EFL communities. Developing a prototype following the framework exerts the potentials to provide an ‘alternative to methods’, transforming the process of learning into a process of acquisition.

Resumen
SummaryBackground: In 2009, the journal Applied Clinical Informatics (ACI) commenced publication. Focused on applications in clinical informatics, ACI was intended to be a companion journal to Methods of Information in Medicine (MIM). Both journals are official journals of IMIA, the International Medical Informatics Association. Objectives: To explore, after five years, which congruencies and interdependencies exist in publications of these journals and to determine if gaps exist. To achieve this goal, major topics discussed in ACI and in MIM had to be analysed. Finally, we wanted to explore, whether the intention of publishing these companion journals to provide an information bridge from informatics theory to informatics practice and from practice to theory could be supported by this model. In this manuscript we will report on congruencies and interdependencies from practise to theory and on major topis in ACI. Further results will be reported in a second paper. Methods: Retrospective, prolective observational study on recent publications of ACI and MIM. All publications of the years 2012 and 2013 from these journals were indexed and analysed. Results: Hundred and ninety-six publications have been analysed (87 ACI, 109 MIM). In ACI publications addressed care coordination, shared decision support, and provider communication in its importance for complex patient care and safety and quality. Other major themes included improving clinical documentation quality and efficiency, effectiveness of clinical decision support and alerts, implementation of health information technology systems including discussion of failures and succeses. An emerging topic in the years analyzed was a focus on health information technology to predict and prevent hospital admissions and managing population health including the application of mobile health technology. Congruencies between journals could be found in themes, but with different focus in its contents. Interdependencies from practise to theory found in these publications, were only limited. Conclusions: Bridging from informatics theory to practise and vice versa remains a major component of successful research and practise as well as a major challenge.

Resumen
The article analyzes the contents of the monograph by M. Porter “Competitive Advantage of Nations” in the context of scientific and technological policy. A brief review of the main arguments of the author is given, and the most significant aspects of his theory of international competition are highlighted. The chapter in which the author analyzes the role of the government in increasing the international competitiveness of the state is considered with particular attention. The general conclusions of the monograph used to emphasize the importance of a flexible, long-term oriented science and technology policy. It is emphasized that the paradigm of international competition proposed by the author implies highlighting science policy as a special area of government activity if the goal is to achieve a high level of competitiveness on the world stage. In this regard, special attention is given to the study of issues related to the multifactorial, strategic orientation of the policy in the field of science and technology, which should be focused on the long term, and not just on solving current market problems.

Resumen
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to investigate how and when intrinsic (personal growth, affiliation, community contribution, health) and extrinsic (financial success, fame, physical appearance) goals affect individuals’ entrepreneurial intentions (EIs). The study uses goal contents theory to propose that intrinsic and extrinsic goals positively influence individuals’ EIs. The authors further argue that the collectivism moderates the effect of intrinsic and extrinsic goals on individuals EIs.Design/methodology/approachA survey was designed to collect data from business graduates at a university in Pakistan. The measurement model and the hypothesized model were tested using the structural equation modeling technique in MPlus 7.0.FindingsThe results suggest that all four intrinsic goals and three extrinsic goals positively affect individuals’ EIs. However, financial success and fame appear to be the most prominent determinants of EIs. Similarly, personal growth and contribution to community are strong predictors of individuals’ EIs. Conversely, health, physical appearance and affiliation motives were found to have a weaker effect on individuals’ EIs. Moreover, the results show that collectivist orientation negatively moderates the effect of intrinsic goals on individuals’ EIs, but positively moderates the effect of extrinsic goals. These results suggest that the EIs of individuals with high collectivist orientation are mainly induced by extrinsic goals, whereas intrinsic factors play a greater role in stimulating the EIs of individuals with low collectivism.Originality/valueExtant research has paid little attention to intrinsic and extrinsic goals as determinants of individuals’ EIs. Thus, this study explores how and when intrinsic and extrinsic goals develop individuals’ EIs. This study is the first of its kind to highlight the importance of individuals’ cultural orientation (collectivism) to determine the alternative role of intrinsic and extrinsic goals in developing individuals’ EIs. In addition, this study was conducted in a different cultural setting (i.e. South Asia), which provides an opportunity to expand the boundary conditions of the phenomenon by offering an alternative perspective on this issue.

Resumen
This paper presents the results of the research the goal of which was to gain insight into the linkage between the attitude towards school and educational aspirations of female and male pupils and the aspects of their family environment which are gender marked (educational status of mothers and educational status of fathers as gender-role indicators). The approach to research topic was developed by relying on ecological systems theory of development (Bronfenbrenner) and social-cognitive theory of gender-role development (Bussey and Bandura). Research comprised a representative sample of 2447 female and male pupils of eighth grade from 36 schools in Serbia, and data were obtained by using answers to the questionnaires referring to some aspects of family and school environment. This is an in-depth analysis of data collected as part of the international study TIMSS 2007. Research findings can be expressed on two levels. The first - female eighth grade pupils, compared to their male peers, have considerably higher educational aspirations, a more positive attitude towards school as learning environment, and in extracurricular everyday life they prefer activities which are encouraged by school contents. The second - educational aspirations of male and female pupils are highly positively correlated with the accomplished educational level of the same gender parent, while attitude towards school and the type of extracurricular activities, both in boys/male pupils and girls/female pupils, stand in higher correlation with the accomplished level of education of the mother.

Resumen
Polylactide acid (PLA) is one of the most used plastics in extrusion-based additive manufacturing (AM). Although it is bio-based and in theory biodegradable, its recyclability for fused filament fabrication (FFF) is limited due to material degradation. To better understand the material’s recyclability, blends with different contents of recycled PLA (rPLA) are investigated alongside a coextruded filament comprised of a core layer with high rPLA content and a skin layer from virgin PLA. The goal was to determine whether this coextrusion approach is more efficient than blending rPLA with virgin PLA. Different filaments were extruded and subsequently used to manufacture samples using FFF. While the strength of the individual strands did not decrease significantly, layer adhesion decreased by up to 67%. The coextruded filament was found to be more brittle than its monoextruded counterparts. Additionally, no continuous weld line could be formed between the layers of coextruded material, leading to a decreased tensile strength. However, the coextruded filament proved to be able to save on master batch and colorants, as the outer layer of the filament has the most impact on the part’s coloring. Therefore, switching to a coextruded filament could provide economical savings on master batch material.

Purpose This paper intends to compare the sustainability reporting (SR) in three different national and institutional contexts, namely Italy, Brazil and USA, and aims to investigate whether companies show a different approach to SR depending on the institutional setting where they operate. Design/methodology/approach To reach this goal, a sample of 150 reports was content-analyzed through a methodology based on a coding process which overcomes part of the limitations in previous works. Findings Results observed a relationship between the SR and the characteristics of institutional contexts, thus suggesting that while there is a general acceptance and use of international SR standards and initiatives, the content is influenced by and shaped on the characteristics of the national institutional context. In other words, although a widely diffused base of data and information can be found in the SR of companies in different contexts, the accent is put on specific issues which reflect the political, cultural, religious, legal and otherwise defined institutions in the national system. Originality/value Using the institutional theory the paper demonstrated that institutional contexts is one of the drivers of contents of sustainability reports.

Resumen
Trends and challenges of research on colonial rule and colonial power were summarized, focusing on discussions in recent research since the 2000s. First, I briefly summarize the discussion on how to name the period from 1910 to 1945 and how to classify the period. In addition, Joseon Governor-General which was a colonial power, was examined with a focus on the status and authority of the Governor-General and the Director-General of Political Affairs, the classification of colonial officials, and the relationship with the home government. And the discussion on the national nature of colonial power was summarized. Research on colonial rule was organized into assimilation and difference(discrimination). Assimilation looked at the civilization theory and mainland extension policy, and difference looked at autonomyism and distinct characteristics of Joseon as its main contents. In-depth research on changes in ruling policy over time and a multifaceted approach to the ruling bloc, including colonial power and the private sector was raised as a future task. Additionally, it is necessary to determine what impact colonial rule had after liberation and whether the ultimate goal of colonial rule was complete assimilation or the existence of discrimination.

Resumen
AbstractTelos is in vogue in biosemiotic researches, which present the teleological solution as anti-Darwinian, while it is more often, for biologists, only ante-Darwinian. The assimilation of structuring contents to a “function”, and of the function to a “goal”, in an irreversible temporality, is the most frequent basis of this methodological creepage. The teleology is based on a projective and ascending epistemic orientation, to which we can oppose a retrojective, descending and achronic one, including modal and sensitive interactional semiotics. For semiotics, the challenge lies in the nature of its relationships with other disciplines, particularly biology. Indeed, we see that the temptation is great for semioticians to dwell precisely in the shadows and shams of other disciplines, and to call “sign” or “semiosis” what other sciences seem to have still some trouble to explain, with the risk of only confronting problems that will soon be obsolete. We propose here the theoretical and methodological principles of structural biosemiotics, and precisely attentive to the problems that biologists face, solve and renew.

Resumen
Historic districts are faced with inadequate features protection and landscape destruction in the process of accelerating urban construction, urban design focuses on how places function in addition to how they look, this theory is suitable for the protection of historical districts. At the present stage, the traditional urban design of historical districts has a series of problems, such as uncomprehensive research about characteristics, incomplete workflow and the lack of transformation route from design scheme to implementation, the main reason is that there is a mismatch between the setting goal and planning implementation. Urban design based on “Action planning” has the characteristics of comprehensive research contents, specific implementation plans and complete workflow, it arranges the workflow with four stages, including design preparation, design planning, design implementation and design evaluation, which is a new exploration and attempt to turn traditional blueprint-oriented into action-oriented. Urban design of North Shuncheng Lane Historic Districts in Xi'an city used action planning as a concept and established an framework including “identify development status and problems—construct action target and strategy—determine action projects and specific plans—improve and evaluate the results”, to implement design ideas into practice and to guide the protection of historic districts. Above all, action-oriented planning is considered the key to the development of historic districts.

Resumen
The digital civilization of human-computer coexistence has become a reality, thanks to the intelligent era. The widespread application of artificial intelligence technology in education has paved a new road for the collaborative and innovative development of ideological and political science teachers in universities and schools. In response to the problems of irregular, unprofessional, and unified resource sharing channels, duplicated, inverted, and disconnected teaching contents, and uncoordinated, insufficient, and unbalanced scientific research linkages in the integration process of university and college civics courses, the B/S three-layer architecture framework is used to build a university and college civics course teachers’ collaborative innovation platform that supports both PC and cell phone use by using jQuery, my structured query language (MySQL), hypertext preprocessor (PHP), juvenile sex offender assessment protocol (J-SOAP) crawlers, and other technologies. Teachers of civics courses can use the platform as a collaborative innovation tool. The goal of integrating resources, teaching, and scientific research of university and college civics courses is achieved, and the collaborative innovation development of university and college Civics teachers is promoted from theory to practice, thanks to the development of three major functions of the platform, namely, resource sharing, scientific research exchange, and teaching mutual assistance.

Resumen
Objective: Self-management is recommended in stroke rehabilitation. This report aims to describe timing, contents, and setting of delivery of a patient-centered, self-management program for stroke survivors in their early hospital rehabilitation phase: the Look After Yourself (LAY) intervention. Methods: After extensive literature search, the LAY intervention was developed by integrating the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program, based on the self-efficacy construct of social cognitive theory, with evidence-based key elements and input from stroke survivors. Results: the LAY intervention aims to implement self-management skills in stroke survivors, enabling them to be active in goal setting and problem solving using action plans and to facilitate the critical transition from hospital to community. It includes both group sessions to facilitate sharing of experiences, social comparison, vicarious learning, and increase motivation and one-to-one sessions focused on setting feasible action plans and on teaching personalized strategies to prevent falls. Standardization is ensured by manuals for facilitators and patients. Conclusion: The LAY intervention is the first Italian program to support early self-management in stroke rehabilitation; it has been experimented and its efficacy proven in improving self-efficacy, mental health, and activities of daily living, and detailed results have been published. The LAY intervention is described according to the TIDieR checklist.
