Resumen

Knowledge of the ontogeny and development of vocalization in primates play a crucial role in understanding the evolution of the human language. Unlike the great apes, gibbons produce a remarkable vocal performance, which includes complex species- and sex-specific patterns. Many studies in the past focused on research of the acoustic pattern in adult individuals. Yet, it remains unclear how the males develop their sex-specific pattern of vocalization. This dissertation focuses on two specific periods in the ontogenetic development of acoustic structures in male Northern-white cheeked gibbons (Nomascus leucogenys) and Southern-yellow cheeked gibbons (Nomascus gabriellae). The results showed that the first time immature males (juvenile and adolescent) produced female acoustically structured great calls in duets with their mothers. How the great call was structured in immature males differed from the great call of their mothers; the difference being in spectro-temporal parameters from. The most significant difference between juvenile and adolescent males in the production of female vocalization was the presence of a twitter vocalization towards the end of their call. The results show that the twitter was a regular part of female vocalization in juvenile males around four years of age, while younger males produced this vocalization exceptionally. The second period in the ontogeny of vocalization in immature males (adolescent) was characterized by the fact that after five years of age, the development of the male acoustic structure begins. During this period, we did not observe the production of the female vocalization great call in any of the monitored Nomascus gibbon individuals. Results show that the ontogenetic process of the male song in Northern-white cheeked gibbons (N. leucogenys) did not develop in the same sequence as in adults which produced different notes and phrases. The immature male (adolescent male) first time developed the multi-modulation phrase (coda) and the staccato note (syllables) simultaneously at the beginning of this study, but, it was observed that they started producing the boom note four months later. Conversely, the development of the acoustic structure in male Southern-yellow cheeked gibbons (N. gabriellae) was characterized only by the development of a multi-modulation phrase. Development of the staccato syllables was not noted in this species during the study. The results support the interpretation that the development of the male acoustic structure closely corresponds to the growth of the vocal tract and physiological changes associated with reaching sexual maturity.

Apres une jeunesse delinquante qui lui valut d'etre emprisonne plusieurs annees sur l'ordre de philippe deux, puis de philippe trois, ce grand noble devoye s'enfuit vers les flandres. Il y resta six ans, cherchant a y retrouver la grace du monarque. Il y parvint, et obtint, en 1610, la vice-royaute de sicile. Son gouvernement, dans ce petit royaume attache a la grande couronne d'espagne, fut marque par une activite inlassable et, surtout, incontrolable. Desavoue par le pouvoir central lorsqu'il tenta d'imposer a la sicile l'absolutisme castillan- au mepris des franchises seculaires dont jouissait l'ile - il se lanca dans une guerre navale effrenee contre les turcs et les etats barbaresques du maghreb. Sa flotte, servie par des amiraux de grande valeur, fut partout victorieuse. Les butins qu'elle rapporta lui permirent d'acheter les plus grands ministres de la cour, d'obtenir, en 1615, la vice-royaute de naples, et de faire mettre sous le boisseau les innombrables plain- tes qui parvenaient a madrid sur son compte. Pour certains (en espagne surtout) il fut le plus grand capitai- ne du regne de philippe trois; pour d'autres (italie), il ne fut qu'un tyran fantasque, megalomane et corrompu. Exemple frappant de double perspective historique difficilement reductible.

A complexa família Characidae é parte da fauna ictiológica neotropical e conta com várias espécies e gêneros em condição de Incertae Sedis. Os gêneros Astyanax e Oligosarcus, considerados muito aparentados, estão incluídos nesta família e abrangem espécies de pequeno tamanho e expressiva abundância em muitos rios e córregos da América do sul. Na bacia do rio Doce, no sudeste brasileiro, uma análise morfológica preliminar permitiu a identificação de cinco peixes “semelhantes à Astyanax” que continham no seu osso maxilar de 8 a 13 dentes. Esses cinco peixes, chamados no presente trabalho de dentuços, foram coletados em simpatria com as espécies Astyanax bimaculatus (Linneaus, 1758), Astyanax giton (Eigenmann, 1908) e Oligosarcus argenteus Günther, 1864. De modo a determinar a natureza biológica dos dentuços, foi realizado um estudo multidisciplinar envolvendo dados morfológicos citogenéticos e moleculares. Os dentuços apresentaram configurações intermediárias entre as espécies A. giton e O. argenteus no que diz respeito ao número de escamas na linha lateral e ao número de dentes no osso maxilar. As análises citogenéticas, feitas através das técnicas de Giemsa, bandeamento NOR, bandeamento-C, fluorocromos, e FISH, indicaram que todas as espécies de caracídeos contaram com número diploide 2n=50 cromossomos diferindo, porém, em vários caracteres de sua morfologia cromossômica. Os dentuços caracterizaram-se por apresentar altos índices de variação cromossômica tanto intra- como inter-individual. Além do mais, eles contaram com vários cromossomos não pareáveis assim como cromossomos de tamanho diminuto que não são observados em nenhuma daquelas espécies simpátricas de Characidae. Três espécimes dos dentuços apresentaram seu fragmento de DNA do gene mitocondrial citocromo b (475 pb) idêntico aquele de O. argenteus e, contudo, todos os dentuços compartilhavam mais alelos ISSR com os espécimes de A. giton do que com os espécimes de O. argenteus. Por outro lado, uma espécie de dentuço conta com o gene cyt. b idêntico aquele das espécies de A. giton estudadas. A análise de fragmentos ITS-1 (1123 pb) mostrou que os dentuços têm sequencias mais relacionadas à Oligosarcus argenteus. Os dados, desse modo, sugeriram que os dentuços são híbridos entre as espécies A. giton e O. argenteus representando assim o primeiro caso de hibridismo espontâneo entre dois gêneros de peixes neotropicais. A relevância de tal descoberta para a biologia da conservação e para as investigações filogenéticas foram discutidas.
Within the Neotropical fish fauna, the taxonomically complex family Characidae has many species and genera in Incertae Sedis condition. Within this family, the closely related genera Astyanax and Oligosarcus are represented by small sized fishes that are an expressive proportion of the freshwater biodiversity in many rivers of South America. In the Doce River Basin, Southeastern Brazil, a preliminary morphologic analysis indicated the presence of 5 Astyanax-like fish with unusually high numbers (8-13) of maxillary teeth which are referred as “toothed morphs”. These fishes were collected in sympatry with Astyanax bimaculatus (Linneaus, 1758), Astyanax giton (Eigenmann, 1908), and Oligosarcus argenteus Günther, 1864. To determine the biological status of them a comparative multidisciplinary approach involving morphologic, cytogenetic and molecular data was conducted, with the toothed morphs and their sympatric species. The toothed morphs showed an intermediate position in lateral line scale numbers and maxillary teeth number between A. giton and O. argenteus. Cytogenetic analyses (Giemsa, NOR, C-banding, fluorochromes and FISH) indicated that all sympatric characids were 2n=50, although they differed from each other in many other karyotypic characters. The toothed morphs were characterized by high levels of intra and inter-individual chromosomal variation including several unpairable chromosomes and tiny chromosomes that were not observed in either of the other sympatric species. Three toothed morphs specimens had their cytochrome b DNA fragment (475 bp) identical to O. argenteus, with one exception which its cyt. b DNA sequence was identical to A. giton. Moreover, all toothed morphs ITS-1 DNA sequences were characterized by their similitude to those sequences of Oligosarcus argenteus. On the other hand, all toothed morphs shared more ISSR alleles with A. giton. The data suggested that the toothed morphs were hybrids between A. giton and O. argenteus, representing the first evidence for spontaneous hybridization between two Neotropical fish genera. The relevance of such findings in conservation biology and phylogeny assessment were discussed.

Cette thèse de doctorat est consacrée aux miniatures et bois gravés des manuscrits et des imprimés de la Bible historiale, histoire sainte écrite par Guyart des Moulins à la fin du XIIe siècle à partir de l'Histoire Scolastique de Pierre le Mangeur. Cet ouvrage remporta à la fin du Moyen Âge un très large succès ; c'est pourquoi nous avons recensé les cent quarante-quatre exemplaires conservés de part le monde et proposé des plans de classement de ce corpus de manuscrits. A la fin du XVe siècle, le manuscrit est édité chez Antoine Vérard ; nous nous sommes ainsi intéressée aux vingt-sept éditions de la première moitié du XVIe siècle. Dans ces manuscrits et imprimés, le personnage de Gomer, épouse d'Osée, le premier des douze petits prophètes de la Bible, a retenu notre attention. Un répertoire de formes en a été dressé, cernant les manifestations iconographiques de cette femme du Moyen Âge et du début du XVIe siècle. Il nous a permis de comprendre l'importance de l'exégèse, et notamment de la tradition de Jérôme, dans la constitution de son rôle dans la Bible historiale ; les représentations de Gomer montrent d'une part, comment s'organise le réseau de parenté dans la Bible, d'autre part, comment ce personnage put soutenir la promotion du culte de sainte Anne et enfin, comment il entra dans le giron marial en s'inscrivant dans la querelle sur l'Immaculée Conception de la Vierge et en valorisant la « sainte famille» chrétienne
The purpose of this doctorate is to study the manuscripts and the prints of the Bible historiale, holy history written by Guyart des Moulins by the end of the XIIIth century from the Historia Scolastica by Petrus Comestor. The Bible historiale meets a great succeed during the XNth and XVth and we tried to collect ail the remaining manuscripts ail over the world -144 pieces. Proposais for classifications have been made to understand this production. By the end of the XVth century, the Bible historiale is printed by Antoine Vérard; then we get interested by the twenty-seven printed during the first half of the XVIth century. In the manuscripts and the prints, we get attached to Gomer, the wife of prophet Hosea, the first of the twelve Little Prophets of the Bible. A catalogue of her representations in the manuscripts of the Middle Age and in the prints of the first half of the XVIth century was established; it helps us to appreciate the importance of the Jerôme'comments in the representation of Gomer in the Bible historiale; the character is used to show first how fits the biblical kinship in the Bible, then to push up the cult of saint Anna and finally to contribute to promotion of the cult of Virgin Mary, by its participation to one of the most important quarrel of the time : the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary, and by its valorization of the Christian "holy family"

Resumen

Following the 1959 victory of the Cuban revolution, the United States government along with the CIA and their Cuban émigré allies immediately undertook a campaign of subversion and terrorism against the Cuban revolution. From 1959 until 1963 a clandestine war was waged between supporters of the revolution and the counter-revolutionary organizations backed by Washington. This project is a new synthesis of this little-known story. It is an attempt to shed light on a little known aspect of the conflict between the United States government and the Cuban revolution by bringing together never-before seen primary sources, and utilizing the two distinct and separate historiographies from the U.S. and Cuba, concerning the clandestine struggle. This is the story of Cuba’s resistance to intervention, the organization of the counter- revolution, and finally how the constant defeat of CIA plots by the Cubans forced changes in U.S. strategy concerning intervention in Cuba and in other parts of the developing world that would have far-reaching and long-last effects.

Human parvovirus B19 (B19V) and Human Bocavirus (HBoV) belong to Parvovirdae. Their capsids consist of two structural proteins, VP1 and VP2. In the end of the B19V-VP1 protein are identical except for 227 amino acids and at the end of the HBoV-VP1 protein are identical except for 129 amino acids, which are called VP1-unique region (VP1u), both of them contain sPLA2 enzyme activity. Previous studies show that B19V may trigger heart disease, such as myocarditis, cardiomyopathy, and pericarditis. Moreover, B19V-VP1u play an important role in B19V infection and its sPLA2 activity is related to the disease, such as myocarditis. Therefore, we intend to investigate the effects of the Parvovirdae capsid protein on H9c2 cardiomyocytes. Here, we report that inflammatory damage induced by B19V-VP1u with sPLA2 activity in cardiac H9c2 cells. Therefore, the sPLA2 activity of VP1u may involve the mechanisms of B19V-related myocarditis.

Resumen

In my writing, I’m deeply concerned with abuse culture, femininity, and queerness. Too Much is the product of two years of processing my feminine identity and discovering my queer identity. This book is a coming out for me as a queer writer and an assault victim. It’s also a defiance of the censorship I’ve been confronted with in my life as a poet and a women. Oftentimes, in workshop or in conversation, I’ve gotten comments about my writing and myself being “too much.” These comments always appeared around moments that dealt with sexuality, violence, queerness. Initially, I reveled in this. It felt good to create discomfort in my readers, but I began to realize it was a kind of censorship, a deliberate turning away from the truth of abuse culture, violence, and feminine sexuality. So, I kept going. The stichic form has been transformative for me as a writer, as has been my exploration of new narrative poets. I love the trajectory and power in a poem with short lines and plain talk that refuses to break or pause for breath. We live in a world that is selective. We are buried in avalanches of news stories, Instagram posts, tweets, texts, new music, old music, TV, online shows, porn, writing. As a poet, I am interested in how I can possibly begin to catalogue all this cascading information even from just my own point of view. How much does depicting real life influence my work when I’m not even sure where real life ends and fantasy begins? What is my responsibility to the truth? To MY truth? I want Too Much to feel this way, true to experience, true to the way life is now. I want it to feel like too much and not enough all at once.

Habitamos um mundo em que cada vez mais as diferenças entre culturas, povos e países tendem a esbater-se. Como resultado desta inevitabilidade, assistimos constantemente à contaminação de hábitos em prol de uma sociedade mundial uniforme, culminando na perda de identidade e de pertença entre pessoas e seus lugares. Nesta dissertação, pretendemos perceber qual o papel da arquitetura neste panorama. Como se tem comportado ao longo da história e qual a viabilidade de uma resposta atual e eficaz na preservação da individualidade dos lugares, sem que com isso se perca as virtudes de um futuro tecnologicamente evoluído e preocupado com a sustentabilidade dos nossos atos. Encaramos por isso a viabilidade de uma arquitetura capaz potenciar o desenvolvimento territorial. Com a intenção de relacionar estes assuntos, aprofundamos o estudo do regionalismo em arquitetura em função da apresentação de dois arquitetos cujo trabalho contribui positivamente para uma perspetiva atual destas matérias.
We inhabit a world in which more and more the differences between cultures, peoples and countries tend to fade. As a result of this almost inevitability, we constantly witness to the contamination of habits towards a uniform world society, culminating in the loss of identity and belonging between people and their places. In this dissertation we intend to understand the role of architecture in this panorama. How has it behaved throughout history and what is the feasibility of a current and effective response in preserving the individuality of places, without losing the virtues of a technologically advanced future and concerned with the sustainability of our actions. We therefore consider the feasibility of an architecture capable of fostering territorial development. With the intention of relating these subjects, we deepen the study of regionalism in architecture in function of the presentation of two architects whose work contributes positively to a current perspective of these subjects.

A presente dissertação tem como objecto de estudo o Museu e o seu papel na cidade contemporânea. Pretendemos explorar em que contexto urbano esta instituição se enquadra, sendo o Museu, hoje em dia, uma das infra-estruturas mais esculturais e icónicas nas cidades. Ao longo dos tempos, os Museus foram sofrendo transformações tipológicas e, neste estudo, serão apresentados uma série de exemplos, desde os tempos clássicos até aos dias de hoje, que nos irão permitir avaliar e observar como os arquitectos contemporâneos projectam estas entidades do conhecimento, que desempenham um papel crucial e essencial nas nossas cidades e na sociedade contemporânea. Deste modo, primeiramente apresentamos um estudo sobre a evolução do Museu em paralelo com a evolução da cidade; o desenvolvimento do conceito museal e a sua relação com a evolução da História da Cidade e, como os arquitectos foram melhorando o seu processo projectual de geração para geração.

Resumen

Ph.D. thesis called "Holders of economical politics on the regional level, their role and possibilities in the optimal adjustment of old age pensions scheme" deals with the possibilities of a general solution for pension insurance in the scope of the region. The possibilities of the regional pension insurance system in the real conditions of the Czech Republic are described and analyzed, as it is difficult to transfer pension insurance systems from one country to another as a whole. Possible roles and possibilities of the region when dealing with the problem of old age pension insurance were defined on the basis of performed analyses. A specific outcome of this project represents the definition of conditions which must be satisfied if the public fund of Regional old age pension system should function. Its operation in the framework of second pillar of pension system seems like the optimal solution. The specific solution contains also the mathematical model of functioning of the regional pension scheme under defined conditions, which simulates possible development of the fund and the amount of old age pension received by the contributor provided he satisfies the defined requirements for entitlement to old age pension.
