Sado Island in the Niigata prefecture is among the first Globally Important Agriculture Heritage Systems (GIAHSs) in Japan and among developed countries worldwide. Recent studies have pointed out the need to incorporate culture and farmer opinions to further strengthen GIAHS inclusivity in rural farming. In connection to this, this study explored whether farmer visibility, which is highlighted by GIAHS designation, actually translates to farmers’ actual perceptions of GIAHS involvement. A survey was conducted among Sado Island farmers to determine their knowledge and perception of their GIAHS involvement, in connection to their perspectives on youth involvement, Sado Island branding, and tourism management. Results showed that 56.3% of Sado Island farmers feel uninvolved or unsure towards the GIAHS, which is in stark contrast with the prevalent farming method in the area, special farming (which complies with GIAHS regulations) (77.3%). Further analyses revealed that farmers who feel that the GIAHS does not promote youth involvement, Sado Island branding, and tourism management have a higher predisposition to perceive themselves as uninvolved towards the GIAHS. This study highlights the need for careful reevaluation and integration of farmer insights and needs into the current GIAHS implementation in Sado Island and in other GIAHSs as well.

In order to protect traditional agricultural systems of global importance, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) launched an initiative for the conservation of Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) in 2002. After nearly two decades of development, the number of GIAHS has increased from the initial 5 in 2005 to the current 65 in 22 countries around the world. Despite the remarkable increase in the number of GIAHS, many countries are now facing the difficult task of dynamic conservation and adaptive management of GIAHS. As an important element of heritage management, monitoring plays an important role in improving the level of heritage management. Scientific and effective monitoring can not only achieve the conservation of the heritage itself and the maintenance of its value, but also the sustainable development of the heritage site. However, FAO did not put forward mandatory requirements for GIAHS monitoring, nor did it issue any guiding document on GIAHS monitoring, but left it to various countries to explore their own GIAHS monitoring. In this context, the paper systematically sorts out the theoretical research and practical exploration of GIAHS monitoring conducted by different countries and research institutions, comparing and analyzing the differences between the theoretical design of monitoring GIAHS themselves and that of GIAHS action plan monitoring, as well as the differences in practical exploration of GIAHS monitoring among China, South Korea, Japan and Portugal. This paper argues that countries and research institutions face common problems in the research and application of GIAHS monitoring, which are: (1) low enthusiasm of heritage sites about participation; (2) lack of legal and financial support; and (3) lack of technical support and guidance. To further promote GIAHS monitoring globally and better promote dynamic conservation and adaptive management of GIAHS, this paper proposes that FAO should cooperate with various countries to establish a unified, scientific and efficient GIAHS monitoring system, including: (1) clarifying monitoring requirements and formulating monitoring guidelines; (2) improving the management system and establishing incentive mechanisms; (3) promoting multi-stakeholder participation and strengthening technical training.

The advent of modern technology in agriculture has increased the efficiency of our food production but also poses pressures on the sustainability of our planet. The Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has been developed to safeguard traditional agricultural systems of global importance, which harnesses the harmonious relationship between people and nature. First launched in the World Summit on Sustainable Development in 2002 to address the sustainable development of family agriculture and traditional farming practices for developing countries, it now has 59 sites located in 22 different countries as of March 2020. Despite almost two decades of its implementation, FAO has not set any requirements nor given guidance on monitoring of the conservation of GIAHS, but leaves it to the discretion of each GIAHS site to conduct voluntary self-evaluation. This study is a comprehensive review of all 11 GIAHS application proposals in Japan, which aims to (1) conduct characteristic analysis to identify elements and perspectives related to the GIAHS selection criteria, (2) understand the motivations and socioeconomic conditions, including challenges and opportunities related to the GIAHS application, so as to (3) propose a set of indicators and perspectives to address these challenges and opportunities for improving the application, monitoring, and management of the GIAHS. The study finds that motivations for applying to GIAHS designation are primarily driven by push factors of abandonment of traditional farming practices and farmlands and underuse of farming resources resulting from Japan’s decreasing and aging rural population, as well as the pull factor of biodiversity conservation. The importance of continuing traditional farming practices, cultural heritage, and involvement of various stakeholders are emphasized against the background of an aging farming population, rural-urban migration, youth exodus, poor maintenance of farmlands, and transferring traditional and local knowledge. By identifying the drivers of change and understanding the current socioeconomic conditions of the agricultural heritage systems in Japan as portrayed in the GIAHS application proposals, the study has clarified the strengths and challenges of the sustainability of these systems. Based on the analysis, the study proposes a comprehensive set of indicators to be considered when developing the GIAHS proposals and for updating the action plan for monitoring and managing the GIAHS sites. It is expected that the findings and recommended indicators will contribute not only in the improvement of the information integrity of future GIAHS proposals, but also as reference for the development and monitoring of GIAHS conservation action plans.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) launched the conservation initiative of the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) in 2002, providing a new solution to current global problems such as widening gap between rich and poor, environmental pollution, biodiversity destruction and degradation of agro-ecological functions. However, since the implementation of GIAHS, few studies have evaluated the role of GIAHS in regional sustainable development. To fill this research gap, this paper attempts to build an evaluation index system that integrates economic, social and environmental sustainability by matching the 169 subgoals and 232 indices of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with five FAO-GIAHS selection criteria and selecting the indices. The index weights are determined through Delphi method (expert scoring) and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Then the GIAHS site of the Kuaijishan Ancient Chinese Torreya Community in Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province is taken as an example for evaluation to enhance the empirical study. The results show that the comprehensive score for this heritage site is 77.90 points, of which economic, social and environmental sustainability scores 88.27, 86.12 and 69.71 points respectively, showing a descending trend. Thus, ecological protection of the Kuaijishan Ancient Chinese Torreya Community should be strengthened and be given prominence in the future. As for the contribution to further research, this SDGs-based GIAHS sustainability evaluation framework can serve as an important guide for assessing the approaches and effects of GIAHS in promoting the achievement of the SDGs. It can also be used for future international GIAHS sustainability assessment and comparison and provide a basis for adjusting the development model of GIAHS sites.

Objective: Rural landscapes that stand out for being solution areas in terms of adaptation to climate change and food security, and especially Selge Ancient settlement and agricultural terraces, which contain an example of agricultural landscapes that includes production systems in these areas, were examined within the scope of the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) program. Material and Methods: The study method is based on the examination of the characteristics of GIAHS fields, the selection criteria of GIAHS systems, the nomination processes and action plans, and the fields included in the GIAHS program. Selge ancient agricultural terraces were evaluated under the headings in accordance with the criteria. Results: GIAHS is based on traditional agricultural systems and landscapes, and sustainable development is envisioned for globally unconventional traditional agricultural systems. For this reason, selection criteria are among the most important components of the candidacy process. Selge agricultural terraces meet the traditional agricultural systems and agricultural landscapes on which GIAHS is based, together with their tangible and intangible values. Conclusion: If the city of Selge is included in the GIAHS system, support will be provided for the measures expected to be taken and the suggestions brought about the traditional production methods and agricultural terraces, which stand out in the city.

There are various cultural values and agricultural systems with local wisdom that should be preserved. One of the strategies that can be carried out is the initiative of Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) which promotes an agricultural landscape becomes a sustainable agricultural heritage system. However, Indonesia as an agricultural country, did not yet has any site that have been registered and participated as a GIAHS site. In fact, there is area with traditional agricultural landscape that is highly potential to be registered, namely Sudaji Village, located in Buleleng Regency, Bali. Therefore, this study aims to identify and analyze the potential and constraints of Sudaji Village regarding its agricultural landscape to be designated as GIAHS Sites in Indonesia. The methods used in this research are benchmarking method and field survey. The results showed that Sudaji Village met the five criterias to be designated as one of GIAHS Sites, as follow: (1) the contribution of the agricultural system to food security and livelihoods, (2) the use of biodiversity as a source of food and agriculture, (3) knowledge and experience of traditional community systems that are still being maintained, (4) the existence of two village government systems that affect the value system and culture of the community, and (5) the landscape condition that is influenced by people's knowledge in managing agricultural landscapes. Hopefully, Sudaji Village will become a part of the GIAHS Sites with its potentials. According to the Brundtland Report of the World Commission on Environment and Development (WCED), the concept of sustainability emerges from the expectation of development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. This notion of sustainability is highly related to the implication of the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS) of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The haenyeo (women divers) fisheries system of Jeju Island, South Korea, serves as an empirical case that illustrates that the core meaning of GIAHS is placed on the concept of sustainability. The most important objective of this case study is to explore how the five main values of GIAHS—(i) food and livelihood security, (ii) agro-biodiversity, (iii) local and traditional knowledge systems, (iv) cultures, value systems, and social organizations, and (v) landscape and seascape features—can be interlocked, and how the concept of sustainability can emerge through this interlocked relationship. In doing this, the value of both GIAHS and the Jeju haenyeo fisheries system is illuminated.

Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) territories are highly relevant to achieving sustainable lifestyles with human subsistence in balance with the ecosystem. The Barroso agro-sylvo-pastoral system is a clear example of this alignment between existing society, nature and natural resources, the environment, landscapes, and contextual heritage. Moreover, the sustainable use of existing natural resources, excellent environmental conditions, and breath-taking untouched landscapes represent a truly relevant factor towards the development of a region economy that is still greatly influenced by an engraved cultural, patrimonial, and agricultural heritage. Given the GIAHS classification attributed to that territory, the need arises to guarantee the existing environmental conditions. This context will allow the maintenance of the GIAHS classification, ensuring the quality of life in the region and stimulating its socio-economic development and overall sustainability. The present article describes a proposal for a digital ecosystem model aimed at the Barroso GIAHS, composed of four main functional hubs that actively interact with each other: smart environment, smart government, smart economy, and smart people. Based on wireless sensor networks, IoT, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and other technological solutions, this solution will allow real-time control of the territory’s environmental conditions and develop more efficient and well-supported management and governance.

Objetivos O primeiro objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a preval?ncia de toxoplasmose cong?nita em rec?m-nascidos atendidos na rede p?blica de sa?de de Porto Alegre, cidade de cerca de 1.500.000 habitantes, localizada no sul do Brasil, atrav?s da triagem neonatal para IgM anti-T. gondii. O segundo objetivo foi verificar se os casos de toxoplasmose cong?nita identificados por esta metodologia teriam sido detectados pelo programa de triagem pr?-natal j? implantado na mesma popula??o. M?todos Foi utilizado um teste fluorim?trico para pesquisar a IgM anti- Toxoplasma gondii em amostras de sangue absorvidas em papel filtro, aproveitando as mesmas amostras rotineiramente obtidas de todos os rec?m-nascidos para triagem de doen?as metab?licas. Quando a triagem era positiva para IgM anti-Toxoplasma gondii, eram solicitadas amostras s?ricas do lactente e da m?e para sorologia confirmat?ria, e o lactente era submetido a uma completa investiga??o cl?nica. Resultados Durante o ano de 2002 o teste para IgM foi realizado em 10.000 rec?m-nascidos consecutivos. Em sete pacientes o teste foi positivo, e em seis foi confirmada a toxoplasmose cong?nita. Tr?s casos j? haviam sido identificados ao nascimento, pois suas m?es haviam sido testadas para toxoplasmose no momento do parto, e um caso havia sido identificado na maternidade, um pouco antes do nascimento. Dois casos de toxoplasmose cong?nita foram identificados somente pela triagem neonatal. Conclus?es A preval?ncia de toxoplasmose cong?nita foi de 6/10.000 (IC 95%: 2/10.000-13/10.000). A triagem neonatal identificou casos de toxoplasmose cong?nita n?o detectados pela triagem pr?-natal, quando a sorologia materna n?o havia sido feita no momento do parto. Se n?o complementada por um teste na hora do parto ou logo ap?s o mesmo, a triagem pr?-natal pode ser ineficiente em detectar a toxoplasmose adquirida e transmitida nas ?ltimas semanas da gesta??o. Adicionalmente, a triagem neonatal e a sorologia materna no momento do parto identificaram casos de toxoplasmose cong?nita em que a m?e n?o havia realizado acompanhamento pr?-natal.

Este estudo objetivou comparar 2 grupos de gestantes, multip?ras, no ?ltimo trimestre de gravidez, quanto ? incid?ncia do stress, fontes estressoras, sintomas e estrat?gias usadas para lidar com a tens?o. Correlacionou-se sintomas, fontes e estrat?gias. As participantes foram: 20 donas-de-casa e 20 mulheres que trabalhavam fora, de classe s?cio econ?mica baixa; tendo em m?dia 27.7 anos. Os resultados mostraram que as gestantes que trabalhavam fora tinham um maior n?mero de sintomas, por?m n?o se encontrou diferen?a quanto a fase de stress, sendo que 82,5% das gestantes estavam na fase de resist?ncia. As gestantes que trabalhavam fora relataram mais fontes do stress que as donas-de-casa. O Padr?o de Comportamento Tipo A e as Cren?as Irracionais foram encontradas nos grupos. Os sintomas psicol?gicos foram os mais citados pelos grupos, mas, foram mais n?meros nas mulheres que trabalhavam fora. O estudo revelou alta incid?ncia de stress nos grupos, o que leva ? recomenda??o de que se institua programas de controle do stress para gestantes, tanto a n?vel profil?tico como de tratamento, a fim de que elas possam ter uma melhor qualidade de vida e evitar poss?veis problemas para seus beb?s.

Learning strategies can be understood as a planned sequence of procedures or activities, selected in order to facilitate the acquisition, storage and use of information. Although important to the learning process, the knowledge on these strategies is still insufficient, especially with regard to students with visual impairments. Therefore, this study aimed to characterize learning strategies used by blind and sighted students, registered in elementary education in schools and special institutions. Were participants 23 teachers, male and female, aged between 26 and 51 years, and 102 students, of whom 25 were blind and 77 seers, of both genders, registered on the 3rd to the 9th grade of elementary school, aged 7 to 16 years old. The instruments used were: field diary (students and teachers); structured questionnaire (teachers); sociodemographic questionnaire, interview and Assessment Scale of Learning Strategies for Elementary School (students). Initially were made observations in the classroom and the teachers received the questionnaires, with instructions for completion. Then were made the interviews with blind students and the scale was administered with these and with the seers. All instruments were administered individually. We conducted content analysis of the questionnaires with teachers and the interviews with blind students. The scale of strategies and sociodemographic questionnaire were analyzed with the help of descriptive and inferential statistics. It was noticed that the blind students use few learning strategies in the classroom, regardless of city, series, sex or age. It was found that teachers didn t receive training to deal with blind students, either during graduation or after have completed it, in such a way that few of them were able to inform about the learning strategies the students use, and demonstrated low ability to deal with these inefficiencies. It was also found that the blind and the sighted use cognitive and metacognitive strategies during learning, but those used by the blind seem to be more basic, low complexity, given that the seers have achieved higher scores on all subscales. We conclude that the repertoire of learning strategies for blind students is inflexible, requiring increments so that they can achieve significant results. It is important that teachers receive training to understand the learning strategies and how they positively influence learning
Estrat?gias de aprendizagem podem ser entendidas como sequ?ncias planejadas de procedimentos ou atividades, selecionadas com o objetivo de facilitar a aquisi??o, o armazenamento e a utiliza??o da informa??o. Apesar de importantes para o processo de aprendizagem, ainda ? insuficiente o conhecimento que se tem acerca dessas estrat?gias, principalmente no que concerne a alunos com defici?ncia visual. Assim sendo, o presente trabalho objetivou caracterizar as estrat?gias de aprendizagem utilizadas por estudantes cegos e videntes, matriculados no Ensino Fundamental, em escolas regulares e em institui??es especializadas. Participaram 23 professores, dos sexos masculino e feminino, com idades entre 26 e 51 anos, bem como 102 estudantes, dos quais 25 eram cegos e 77 videntes, de ambos os sexos, matriculados do 3? ao 9? ano do Ensino Fundamental, com idades entre 7 e 16 anos. Os instrumentos utilizados foram: di?rio de campo (estudantes e professores); question?rio estruturado (professores); question?rio sociodemogr?fico, entrevista e Escala de Avalia??o das Estrat?gias de Aprendizagem para o Ensino Fundamental (estudantes). Inicialmente foram realizadas observa??es em sala de aula e entregues aos professores question?rios, com as instru??es de preenchimento. Em seguida foram iniciadas as entrevistas com os estudantes cegos e administrada a escala com esses e com os videntes. Todos os instrumentos foram aplicados individualmente. Realizou-se an?lise de conte?do junto aos question?rios dos professores e as entrevistas com os estudantes cegos. J? o question?rio sociodemogr?fico e a escala de estrat?gias foram analisados com o auxilio da estat?stica descritiva e inferencial. Percebeu-se que os estudantes cegos utilizam poucas estrat?gias de aprendizagem em sala de aula, independentemente da cidade, s?rie, sexo ou idade. Verificou-se que os professores n?o receberam nenhum treinamento para lidar com os estudantes cegos, nem durante a forma??o, nem ap?s t?-la conclu?do, de modo tal que poucos souberam informar quais estrat?gias de aprendizagem eles utilizam, bem como demonstraram pouca habilidade para lidar com a inefic?cia dessas. Constatou-se tamb?m que tanto os cegos como os videntes utilizam estrat?gias cognitivas e metacognitivas durante a aprendizagem, contudo as utilizadas pelos cegos parecem ser mais elementares, de baixa complexidade, tendo em vista que os videntes alcan?aram escores mais elevados em todas as subescalas. Conclui-se que o repert?rio de estrat?gias de aprendizagem dos estudantes cegos mostra-se pouco flex?vel, necessitando de incrementos para que assim possam alcan?ar resultados significativos. ? importante que os professores recebam capacita??o para entender as estrat?gias de aprendizagem e como estas influenciam positivamente a aprendizagem.

O presente estudo, de natureza qualitativa, teve como objetivo geral analisar de que forma o Programa de Atendimento Especializado a Fam?lias e Indiv?duos (PAEFI) contribui na identifica??o e na ruptura de processos de viol?ncia vivenciados por mulheres em situa??o de viol?ncia dom?stica e familiar, nas suas diferentes express?es (psicol?gica, f?sica, sexual, patrimonial e moral). Foram realizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas com 11 sujeitos: a) tr?s mulheres vinculadas ao Programa de Atendimento Especializado a Fam?lias e Indiv?duos (PAEFI) do Centro de Refer?ncia Especializado em Assist?ncia Social (CREAS) do munic?pio de Porto Alegre, que vivenciaram a viol?ncia intrafamiliar e b) 8 profissionais do respectivo servi?o e de uma ONG que disponibilizava o servi?o anteriormente ? implementa??o do Sistema ?nico de Assist?ncia Social (SUAS). As entrevistas foram gravadas e transcritas e posteriormente submetidas ? an?lise de conte?do de Bardin. A an?lise foi norteada pelo m?todo dial?tico cr?tico, embasada nas categorias propostas por Marx, que seriam: totalidade, contradi??o, historicidade. Os resultados sugerem que as mulheres utilizam diversas estrat?gias de enfrentamento para rompimento da viol?ncia intrafamiliar, desde a confronta??o direta com o agressor, at? a busca de apoio na rede informal e formal (rede de servi?os socioassistenciais, sa?de e jur?dicos). Neste percurso, as mulheres sofrem diversas viola??es, desde a falta de acolhida e respeito, demora nos tr?mites legais, entre outros. Conclui-se que existe a urgente necessidade de pol?ticas p?blicas intersetoriais que d?em conta das principais necessidades apontadas pelas mulheres e profissionais, destacando principalmente, a autonomia financeira, essencial para o rompimento da viol?ncia. Al?m disso, a viol?ncia de g?nero requer um rompimento de uma cultura que ainda atribui ? mulher a responsabilidade principal pelo cuidado da fam?lia, contribuindo para a vis?o de que a mulher ? culpada pela viol?ncia sofrida e/ou pela falha na prote??o dos filhos. Os dados dessa pesquisa contrariam esta vis?o, pois sugerem que as mulheres n?o s?o coniventes ou passivas diante da viol?ncia.

Objetivou-se com este estudo, avaliar os efeitos de duas estrat?gias de pastejo intermitente, com 24 dias fixos de descanso e com 95% de intercepta??o luminosa em capim-xara?s. O experimento foi conduzido na Fazenda Experimental do Moura, pertencente ? Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri (UFVJM), localizada no Munic?pio de Curvelo, Minas Gerais. Para a avalia??o das caracter?sticas produtivas, estruturais e bromatol?gicas foi utilizado o delineamento inteiramente casualizado com medidas repetidas no tempo, com quatro ciclos de pastejo e duas estrat?gias de pastejo. Para o consumo dos animais foi utilizado o delineamento inteiramente casualizado em arranjo fatorial 2 x 3, sendo duas estrat?gias de pastejo e tr?s dias de ocupa??o, e para a taxa de lota??o utilizou-se o arranjo 2 x 4 (duas estrat?gias e quatro ciclos de pastejo). N?o houve efeito para as vari?veis: disponibilidade, estrutura e composi??o bromatol?gica da forragem, com exce??o para intercepta??o luminosa e prote?na bruta, onde o tratamento com IL obteve maior valor de intercepta??o luminosa (2,73% superior que o DF) e menor teor de PB (1,08% inferior ao tratamento DF). Para o consumo de mat?ria seca houve efeito (P<0,05) entre os dias de ocupa??o, sendo os maiores valores encontrados no primeiro dia (9,84 kg de MS) e os menores no terceiro dia de ocupa??o (6,21 kg de MS). A taxa de lota??o foi 0,76 UA maior para a estrat?gia de manejo com IL, quando comparada ao tratamento DF. Assim, tendo em vista a praticidade de ado??o, boas condi??es edafoclim?ticas, o manejo de pastejo com intensifica??o dos dias fixos apresenta grande potencialidade para uso de pasto.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of two intermittent grazing strategies, with 24 fixed resting days and 95% light interception in Xara?s grass. The experiment was conducted at the Moura Experimental Farm, belonging to Universidade Feseral dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri (UFVJM), in Curvelo, Minas Gerais. For the evaluation of productive, structural and nutritive characteristics, we used a completely randomized design with repeated measures in the time, with four grazing cycles and two grazing strategies. For consumption of animals, we used a completely randomized design, in a 2 x 3 factorial, with two grazing strategies and three days of occupation, and 2 x 4 scheme (two strategies and four cycles of grazing) for stocking rate. There was no effect for the variables: availability, structure and chemical composition of forage, except for light interception and crude protein, in which treatment with LI showed the highest value of light interception (2.73% higher than the fixed days) and lower content of CP (1.08% lower than the fixed days treatment). There was effect for dry matter intake (P <0.05) between the days of occupation, and the highest values found on the first day (9.84 kg DM) and the lowest on the third day of occupation (6.21 kg DM). The stocking rate was 0.76 AU added to the management strategy with LI compared to treatment fixed days. Thus, taking into account practicality of adoption, good soil and climatic conditions, grazing management with intensification of fixed days shows great potential for pasture use.

A presente disserta??o ? composta de tr?s estudos, sendo um te?rico e dois emp?ricos, apresentados na forma de artigos. O artigo te?rico teve como objetivo verificar as implica??es dos eventos de vida estressores, do estresse e das estrat?gias de coping utilizadas por adolescentes na aprendizagem. Assim, foram explorados os aspectos ambientais, a neurobiologia do estresse e o papel da resili?ncia em circunst?ncias de vida adversas. Os artigos emp?ricos tiveram natureza descritiva, com dados quantitativos, em um delineamento ex-post-facto, do tipo correlacional. Deste modo, o segundo artigo apresenta um estudo cujo objetivo foi investigar a associa??o entre eventos estressores, sintomas de estresse e desempenho escolar em adolescentes. Assim, verificou-se a preval?ncia de estresse em uma amostra de adolescentes, as diferen?as no ?ndice de reprova??o entre adolescentes com e sem estresse, a associa??o entre os grupos de sintomas de estresse e o desempenho escolar. Avaliou-se, tamb?m, a freq??ncia e o impacto atribu?do pelos indiv?duos aos eventos estressores, relacionando esses dados quanto ?s diferen?as entre os sexos e em rela??o aos ?ndices de aprova??o e reprova??o. No terceiro artigo foram examinadas as estrat?gias de coping utilizadas por adolescentes diante de eventos estressores. Al?m disso, foram verificados sintomas de estresse da amostra. Os achados sugerem uma importante intera??o entre a exposi??o a eventos estressores, a manifesta??o de sintomas de estresse e o preju?zo no desempenho escolar.

Cyberbullying is defined as a phenomenon involving aggressive, intentional and repetitive behaviors, carried out by electronic means, during a given period and perpetrated by an individual or group against a victim with difficulties in defending herself or himself. Coping strategies are a set of mutable cognitive and behavioristic efforts, used to deal with internal or external demands that are evaluated by the individual as excessive to his or her resources. Finally, Early Maladaptive Schemes (EMSs) are a dysfunctional cognitive and emotional pattern, related to oneself or to other individuals, developed during childhood or adolescence. Thus, the objective of this paper was to investigate the process of cyberbullying in adolescents of two cities in the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), as well the relation of this phenomenon with coping strategies and with Early Maladaptive Schemes. To do so, the investigation was divided into two empirical articles. The first article aimed at relating the social roles in cyberbullying (non-involved, victims, aggressors or victim-aggressors) and the styles of coping. A total of 273 students took part in the survey (average age=14,91; DP=1.43). The teenagers were invited to answer the Sociodemographic Data Questionnaire, the Revised Cyberbullying Inventory (RCBI), the Young Schema Questionnaire for Adolescents (SQA) and the Lazarus and Folkman Coping Strategies Inventory. The results indicated that almost 58% of the adolescents suffered or perpetrated some sort of virtual violence. Moreover, the average of the coping strategies of self-control, social support and escape-avoidance were significantly higher to the victims than to the non-involved. On the other hand, the confrontation strategy was more frequent in the reports of victim-aggressors than in the non-involved. It is discussed the high cyberbullying frequency in the sample surveyed, as well as the dominance of coping strategies focused on emotion. The second article aimed at investigating the relations between social roles in cyberbullying and the Early Maladaptive Schemes proposed by Young. The participants, as well as the procedures, were the same as in Study 1. The results showed that girls tend to be more involved in cyberbullying practices than boys. Adolescents involved in cyberbullying as victims and victim-aggressors tend to present higher averages in the majority of EMSs than the non-involved. Victims presented significantly higher scores in the Defect scheme in comparison to aggressors, victim-aggressors and non-involved, as well as presented significantly higher scores in the Distrust, insufficient Self-Control, Subjugation and Self-Sacrifice Schemes in comparison with the non-involved and in the Entanglement Scheme in comparison to victim-aggressors. On the other hand, the victim-aggressors presented higher scores in the grandiosity, insufficient self-control and search for approval schemes. It was observed a higher frequency of cyberbullying among girls, which brings interpretations on cultural and biological influences related to genre and aggressiveness. Finally, it is equally debated the issue of EMSs as possible factors that make the individual vulnerable to the cyber victimization or that allow the perpetration of aggressive acts in the virtual context.
Cyberbullying ? definido como um fen?meno que envolve comportamentos agressivos, intencionais e repetitivos, realizados atrav?s de meios eletr?nicos, ao longo de um determinado per?odo e perpetrados por um indiv?duo ou grupo contra uma v?tima que apresenta dificuldade em se defender. J? estrat?gias de coping s?o um conjunto de esfor?os cognitivos e comportamentais mut?veis, utilizados para lidar com exig?ncias internas ou externas, avaliadas pelo indiv?duo como excessivas aos seus recursos. Por fim, Esquemas Iniciais Desadaptativos (EIDs) referem-se a um padr?o cognitivo e emocional disfuncional, relacionado a si mesmo ou a outros indiv?duos, os quais s?o desenvolvidos durante a inf?ncia ou adolesc?ncia. Assim, o presente trabalho teve por objetivo investigar o processo de cyberbullying em adolescentes de duas cidades do Rio Grande do Sul (Brasil), bem como a rela??o desse fen?meno com as estrat?gias de coping e com os Esquemas Iniciais Desadaptativos. Para isso, a investiga??o foi dividida em dois artigos emp?ricos. O primeiro artigo objetivou relacionar os pap?is sociais no cyberbullying (n?o-envolvidos, v?timas, agressores ou v?timas-agressores) e os estilos de coping. Participaram do estudo 273 estudantes (idade m?dia=14,91; DP=1,43). Os adolescentes foram convidados a responder ao Question?rio de Dados Sociodemogr?ficos, ao Revised Cyberbullying Inventory (RCBI), ao Question?rio de Esquemas de Young para Adolescentes (QEA) e ao Invent?rio de Estrat?gias de Coping de Lazarus e Folkman. Os resultados indicaram que 58% dos adolescentes sofreram ou perpetraram alguma forma de agress?o virtual. Al?m disso, as m?dias das estrat?gias coping de autocontrole, suporte social e fuga-esquiva foram significativamente maiores para as v?timas do que para os n?o-envolvidos. Por sua vez, a estrat?gia de confronto foi mais frequente no relato das v?timas-agressores que dos n?o-envolvidos. Discute-se a frequ?ncia elevada do cyberbullying na amostra pesquisada, bem como a preval?ncia de estrat?gias de coping focadas na emo??o. J? o segundo artigo buscou investigar as rela??es entre os pap?is sociais no cyberbullying e os Esquemas Iniciais Desadaptativos propostos por Young. Os participantes, bem como os procedimentos, foram os mesmo do Estudo 1. Os resultados apontaram que as meninas tenderam a estar mais envolvidas em pr?ticas de cyberbullying que os meninos. Os adolescentes envolvidos em cyberbullying como v?timas e v?timas-agressores tenderam a apresentar m?dias mais elevadas na maioria dos EIDs do que os n?o-envolvidos. V?timas apresentarem escores significativamente maiores no esquema de Defeito, em compara??o a agressores, v?timas-agressores e n?o-envolvidos, assim como obtiveram pontua??es significativamente maiores nos esquemas de Desconfian?a, Autocontrole insuficiente, Subjuga??o e Auto-sacrif?cio, em compara??o aos n?o-envolvidos e no esquema de Emaranhamento em compara??o a v?timas- agressores. Por outro lado, as v?timas-agressores apresentaram escores mais elevados nos esquemas de grandiosidade, auto-controle insuficiente e busca de aprova??o em compara??o a n?o-envolvidos. Observou-se uma frequ?ncia mais elevada de cyberbullying entre as meninas, o que remete a interpreta??es sobre influ?ncias culturais e biol?gicas relacionadas a g?nero e agressividade. Por fim, ? igualmente problematizada a quest?o dos EIDs como poss?veis fatores que vulnerabilizam o indiv?duo ? cyber vitimiza??o ou propiciam a realiza??o de atos agressivos no contexto virtual.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the strategies used by families living in at-risk-and-vulnerable situations registered with the Estrat?gia Sa?de da Fam?lia (ESF) ( Family Health Strategy ) as they face their daily problems. This is an investigation of a qualitative nature, using interview as the main tool for an empirical approach. Ten women from the Panatis location in northern Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, whose families live in precarious social-economical situations were interviewed. The interviews occurred between the months of April and June, 2007. The reports revealed that a mixture of improvisations and creativity was used as strategies for overcoming the privations and necessities of daily life. We also reached the conclusion that these families sought solutions for their problems through religiosity and a gift reciprocity system as resources for obtaining personal recognition and support in adversity. The results, in addition, point to ESF as one of the strategies used by these families in the search for attention and care. From this perspective, ESF has proven to be a place for listening and the construction of ties that are consolidated through home visits, organized groups, in parties and outings that are promoted in the community, reestablishing contact and support among people and signaling a way out of abandonment and isolation. Holders of knowledge constructed through life experiences, the participants of the study led us to induce and infer the need to amplify space that will allow them to express meanings, values and experiences, and consider that becoming ill is a process that incorporates dimensions of life that go beyond the physical. As health professionals, we need to be aware of the multiple and creative abilities used in the daily lives of these families, so that we can, along with them, reinvent a new way of dealing with health
O presente estudo tem por objetivo analisar as estrat?gias utilizadas pelas fam?lias em situa??o de risco e vulnerabilidade, adscritas ? Estrat?gia Sa?de da Fam?lia (ESF), no enfrentamento de seus problemas cotidianos. Trata-se de uma investiga??o de natureza qualitativa que utiliza a entrevista como principal ferramenta da abordagem emp?rica. Foram entrevistadas dez mulheres da localidade do Panatis, zona Norte, do munic?pio de Natal-RN, cujas fam?lias vivenciam car?ncias de condi??es socioecon?micas b?sicas. As entrevistas ocorreram entre os meses de abril a junho de 2007. Os depoimentos revelam a exist?ncia de um misto de improvisa??es e criatividades usadas como estrat?gias para a supera??o das priva??es e necessidades vividas no cotidiano. Depreendemos, igualmente, que estas fam?lias buscam solu??es para os problemas por meio da religiosidade e do sistema de reciprocidade da d?diva, como recurso para obten??o de reconhecimento pessoal e apoio nas adversidades. Os resultados apontam, ainda, a ESF como uma das estrat?gias utilizadas por essas fam?lias na busca de aten??o e de cuidado. Nessa perspectiva, a ESF evidencia-se como um espa?o de escuta e de constru??o de v?nculos que se consolidam nas visitas domiciliares, nos grupos organizados, nas festas e passeios promovidos junto ? comunidade, reinserindo o contato e o apoio entre as pessoas e sinalizando para uma via de sa?da do abandono e do isolamento. Resumen
This chapter looks at the global network of innovative agglomerations, with a focus on their degree of internationalization and on the actors behind it—particularly high-skilled migrants. Using worldwide patent and publication geo-localized data, it identifies all Global Hotspots of Innovation (GIHs) and Niche Clusters (NCs) worldwideand relates their success to their international connections. In particular, it compares organizational ones, such as international collaborations orchestrated by multinational firms’ collaborations, to personal ones, which may derive from migration to/from the GIHs and NCs. The analysis suggests a strong role for the latter, always comparable and sometimes larger than the former.

Resumen
Gravity installed anchors (GIAs) are the most recent generation of anchoring solution to moor floating facilities for deepwater oil and gas developments. After the installation of GIAs, the anchors are connected with the floating facility via the mooring lines, which interact with the anchors at the shackle and influence the keying and diving performance of GIAs. In the present work, a three-dimensional large deformation finite element (LDFE) model is established using the coupled Eulerian–Lagrangian method to investigate the performance of embedded mooring lines during keying and diving of GIAs. To verify the efficiency of the LDFE model, comparisons with the plasticity models are performed. Then, a parametric study is undertaken to quantify the relationship between the drag force Ta and drag angle θah at the shackle and the drag force T0 and drag angle θ0 at the mudline, in terms of the frictional coefficient, drag angle at the mudline and soil strain rate and strain softening. It is demonstrated that the drag angle at the mudline has the most significant effect on the performance of embedded mooring lines and hence the keying and diving of GIAs.

Abstract Compared with other types of anchors, gravity-installed anchors (GIAs) have several main advantages such as simple structure, convenient installation way and cost reduction. The torpedo anchor is one type of GIAs. The geometric configurations have a direct influence on the hydrodynamic characteristics of the anchor, and thus affect its installation performance in water. The present work aimed to put forward some new aspects for optimizing the existing geometries of torpedo anchors by comprehensively improving the hydrodynamic characteristics of the anchor during installation in water. A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model was established and numerical simulations were carried out using the software of ANSYS FLUENT. The hydrodynamic characteristics concerned involved the drag coefficient, the terminal velocity and the directional stability. The present study paid more attention to the fin’s design. By changing the fin parameters, including the aspect ratio and the area of the fin, the optimum design method of the fin was proposed, which would make sure of a higher terminal velocity as well as good directional stability. Besides, effects of the mass distribution on the hydrodynamic characteristics were investigated. The present work provides a design reference for torpedo anchors and is also beneficial to the research and development of new types of GIAs.

Abstract For reduced-scale model tests of gravity-installed anchors (GIAs), it is of great significance to extrapolate the testing results to prototype. This highlights the necessity of investigation of similarity criteria. The present work aims to find the similarity criteria of three prioritized hydrodynamic characteristics including VT, HP, and Cd for GIAs during installation in water through CFD simulations. In the present study, free falling processes of different reduced-scale T98 anchor models and prototype anchor is simulated, from which VT, HP, and Cd are extracted and analyzed to get the fitting curves for these three characteristics over reduced-scale λ. Based on these curves, hydrodynamic characteristics for prototype and other reduced-scale model can be extrapolated from model testing results. And, the researching procedure in this paper sets an example and reference to study about similarity criteria for other hydrodynamic characteristics.

With the application of innovative anchor concepts and advanced technologies in deepwater moorings, anchor behaviors in the seabed are becoming more complicated, such as 360-degree rotation of the anchor arm, gravity installation of anchors with high soil strain rate, and keying and diving (or penetration) of anchors. As a very important component of the installation or mooring system, anchor line connects the anchor and the anchor handling vessel (AHV) or floating moored platform. With moving of the AHV or platform, anchor line produces a space movement, and forms a reverse catenary shape and even a three-dimensional profile in the soil. Numerical analysis on the behaviors of anchor lines and deepwater anchors requires techniques that can deal with large strains and deformations of the soil, track changes in soil strength due to soil deformation, strain rate and strain softening effects, appropriately describe anchor-soil friction, and construct structures with connector elements to conform to their characteristics. Being an effective tool of large deformation finite element analysis, the coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) method is advantageous in handling geotechnical problems with large deformations, where a traditional Lagrangian analysis is coupled with an Eulerian phase of material advection. This paper gives an overview of several key techniques in the CEL analysis of comprehensive behaviors of deepwater anchors, including construction of the embedded anchor line and the anchor line in the water, installation of gravity installed anchors (GIAs), keying or diving of drag anchors and GIAs, and implementation of the omni-directional arm of GIAs. Numerical probe tests and comparative studies are also presented to examine the robustness and accuracy of the proposed techniques. The aim of this paper is to provide a numerical framework to analyze the comprehensive behaviors of anchor lines and deepwater anchors.
