Abstract This article examines the formal and functional features of a recurring ‘away’ gesture in Syuba (Tibeto-Burman, Nepal). The formal properties of this gesture include a pronation of the forearms to bring the palms downward while the fingers spread away, and is most often performed with both hands. Functionally, it is found with utterances that signal negation, particularly the absence of something. A growing body of literature links ‘away’ trajectories with negation, or negative evaluation of speech content cross-linguistically. The temporal alignment between these gesture and lexical content also shows that cross-linguistic differences in word order appear to affect performance of gestures associated with negated content.

Abstract Gesture is aptly described as a “backdoor” to cognition (Sweetser, 2007, p. 203). Co-speech gesture has been shown to aid in the representation of abstract concepts (Parrill & Sweetser, 2004) and, specifically, encode metaphorical source domains (Cienki, 1998). This paper examines how co-speech gesture aligns with spoken and written narrative to support a spatially based representation of gender identity. Repeated gestural patterns include inward facing palms used to mime fictive category boundaries, gestural mapping of motion across metaphorical gender regions, manual deictic reference to interior and exterior self, and distancing from past gender assignment signaled through emblematic scare quotes. The data examined in this paper confirm the important role gesture plays in supplementing the instantiation of the metaphorical models that organize transgender speakers’ experience with and discussion of gender and transition.

Abstract In this paper I examine the use of the ‘rotated palms’ gesture family among speakers of Syuba (Tibeto-Burman, Nepal), as recorded in a video corpus documenting this language. In this family of gestures one or both forearms are rotated to a supine (‘palm up’) position, each hand with thumb and forefinger extended and the other fingers, in varying degrees, flexed toward the palm. When used independently from speech this gesture tends to be performed in a relatively consistent manner, and is recognised as an interrogative gesture throughout India and Nepal. In this use it can be considered an emblem. When used with speech it shows more variation, but can still be used to indicate the interrogative nature of what is said, even when the speech may not indicate interrogativity in its linguistic construction. I analyse the form and function of this gesture in Syuba and argue that there are a number distinct functions relating to interrogativity. These can therefore be considered as a family of gestures. This research lays the groundwork for a better understanding of this common family of gestures across the South Asian area, and beyond.

With the development of deep learning, gesture recognition systems based on the neural network have become quite advanced, but the application effect in the elderly is not ideal. Due to the change of the palm shape of the elderly, the gesture recognition rate of most elderly people is only about 70%. Therefore, in this paper, an intelligent gesture error correction algorithm based on game rules is proposed on the basis of the AlexNet. Firstly, this paper studies the differences between the palms of the elderly and young people. It also analyzes the misread gesture by using the probability statistics method and establishes a misread-gesture database. Then, based on the misreading-gesture library, the maximum channel number of different gestures in the fifth layer is studied by using the similar curve algorithm and the Pearson algorithm. Finally, error correction is completed under the game rule. The experimental results show that the gesture recognition rate of the elderly can be improved to more than 90% by using the proposed intelligent error correction algorithm. The elderly-accompanying robot can understand people’s intentions more accurately, which is well received by users.

O presente artigo trata-se das estratégias de marketing utilizadas por uma empresa varejista da cidade de Palmas do Estado do Tocantins na visão da gerente de marketing da instituição. O estudo objetivou analisar as estratégias de Marketing utilizadas pela empresa varejista, buscando estabelecer relações com as estratégias de posicionamento de mercado usadas para identificar o público-alvo e os canais de comunicação. A metodologia de abordagem qualitativa recorreu à entrevista como instrumento de coleta de dados com um roteiro de perguntas estruturadas. Os dados da pesquisa evidenciaram que a empresa desenvolveu uma abordagem multicanal para alcançar e engajar seu público-alvo, usando mídias sociais, redes sociais, propagandas tradicionais e ações promocionais em que storytelling é um método eficaz para criar uma identidade de marca e criar conexões emocionais com os clientes.

Em dezembro de 2019, a COVID-19 se espalhou pelo mundo, se tornando uma pandemia em março de 2020. Por ser um vírus novo, os países adotaram diversas medidas não farmacológicas com o intuito de conter o vírus. Dentre elas, umas das mais impactantes foram às voltadas à restrição de contato (distanciamento social, isolamento e lockdown). Durante a pandemia da COVID-19, várias fontes de informações foram disponibilizadas para ajudar os governos a responder à crise. Um dos dados de grande interesse foi o Relatório de Mobilidade do Google. Sendo assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi caracterizar o cenário, às tendências políticas de mitigação selecionadas, mudanças na mobilidade comunitária e epidemiologia da COVID-19 nas cidades de Araguaína, Gurupi e Palmas - TO, localizadas na Amazônia Legal. Os dados utilizados incluem nove tipos de políticas de mitigação (quarentena/isolamento de viajantes; suspensão de eventos públicos; suspensão das atividades escolares presenciais; limitação de eventos particulares; fechamento dos serviços não essenciais; uso obrigatório de máscaras; fechamento de vias urbanas; fechamento de parques e lockdown), implementadas entre 11 de março e 31 de julho, categorias de mobilidade comunitária do Google Community e a epidemiologia da COVID-19. Os três municípios num primeiro momento apresentaram forte adesão às medidas e a mobilidade foi reduzida. Entretanto com o passar do tempo cada um apresentou um cenário e a evolução da pandemia foi distinta. Isso pode ter sido reflexo da forma como a gestão cada gestor conduziu a adoção das políticas de mitigação e das características comportamentais da população dos municípios. Em Araguaína a condução das medidas de restrição se mostrou instável enquanto em Palmas e Gurupi foram mais resolutivas e determinadas. Quanto à disseminação de casos, em Araguaína houve uma explosão de casos positivos e óbitos logo no início da pandemia, em Palmas apesar de ter tido um cenário semelhante à gestão conseguiu postergar o avanço da pandemia, e em Gurupi a evolução da pandemia foi bem mais controlada. Ou seja, as políticas públicas podem ter diferentes impactos na mobilidade e transmissão da COVID-19, sendo necessário considerar as especificidades da população ao adotar políticas que limitem a mobilidade, para reduzir os impactos negativos e facilitar a adesão.

Hand gestures are becoming more common in HCI. No matter the project, the majority of the task will involve interaction with other parts of the body, the environment, etc. We demonstrate how to locate a user’s hand and movements, apply this information in a home situation, and interact with the system in this work. Using this information is also discussed. Sign language communicates visually using hand motions. Hand gestures may help hearing-impaired people communicate. Processing hand gestures lets people use their hands to communicate. Words can be made by combining signs and digits on the palms of one’s hands. Sightbased and glove-based hand motions are used nowadays. In this paper, we introduce deep convolutional neural networks for image classification and demonstrate their utility in hand gesture classification. In particular, we examine how these networks can recognise hand motions. Deep convolutional hand gesture can uncover many hand motions. Hand gestures can express many emotions. Time is needed to comprehend the hand motions Using a convolutional neural network to separate items or photographs saves time and effort. Hand actions demand more time to assess. In this case, the deep convolutional neural network speeds up the procedure. The system’s precision, sensitivity, and accuracy will improve with deep CNN. CNN, which divides the dataset into chunks, can be utilised to get high accuracy, specificity, and sensitivity from the dataset. Once the camera transmits the hand gesture image, the system will stop.

Resumen
Posterior dislocations of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb are due to hyperextension trauma and relatively rare. We present the case of a patient in whom closed reduction was not achieved, requiring open reduction and anchoring of the palmar plate with transosseous pull out technique. A literature review focused on treatment was carried out. All authors agree that closed reduction should be the first therapeutic gesture. If this is not achieved, open reduction should be performed through a dorsal or volar approach, and there is no consensus on which is more effective, nor in terms of management of periarticular soft tissues. Reduction in this case was followed by 2-4 weeks immobilization. Results were generally good, restoring a stable and painless joint, although there might be some degree of joint stiffness.

The present work deals with design aspects and testing results of a novel solution regarding the remote control of two virtual robotic manipulators by using hands motion tracking and palms gesture recognition. The spatial position and orientation of the user's left and right hands' wrists are interpreted by a custom built software application and then forwarded as positioning data and gripper status to a V-Rep server running the simulation scene. The goal of the presented setup is for the user to be able to manipulate objects in the scene in a collaborative way, i.e. pick one object with the first robot and give it to the second one for elsewhere depositing. The real-life applications for this approach are to provide a framework for simplified operator training and programming of robots used in pick-and-place or assembly operations, and also in healthcare for assisting patients in hand -coordination and mobility recovery.

Esteartigo mostra como o gestor pode aproveitar ao máximo osaparatos tecnológicos para um currículo atrativo e que causeparticipação. Para chegar a esse ponto, a discussão começoucom o levantamento sobre o papel da escola, com base em pesquisa que buscou os termos currículo, cultura e tecnologia.Mostrou-se que à escola cabe preparar o ser para assumir seu papel no mundo, o que não significa exclusivamente qual profissão exercerá. O trabalho conclui que a criatividade alia os gestores aos demais pesquisadores da área da tecnologia, ou seja, deixando linha para prosseguir nesse estudo.

Resumo: Partindo da premissa de que os instrumentos econômicos complementam os instrumentos de comando e controle, investigou-se se o controle dos requisitos para a concessão de outorga pelo órgão gestor da política hídrica paraense tem sido adequado para subsidiar a futura aplicação do instrumento da cobrança pelo uso da água. Pelo seu objetivo, esta pesquisa é exploratória e descritiva, realizada mediante pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, aplicando-se ainda um tratamento estatístico nos dados sobre as outorgas estaduais por meio do software Minitab 17, a fim de verificar as similaridades entre os setores usuários. Utilizou-se também o software QGIS, versão 2.18.17 Las Palmas, intencionando-se demonstrar as pressões de uso sobre os recursos hídricos através da distribuição espacial dos usuários e das vazões concedidas em m³/ano por tipos de uso e por região hidrográfica do Estado do Pará. Constatou-se que a finalidade de Irrigação e Dessedentação de Animais é a que mais exerce pressão de uso no Estado do Pará e que os recursos hídricos da Região Costa Atlântica-Nordeste são mais explorados. Por essas razões, tais variáveis exigirão a adoção de algum coeficiente ponderador que estimule o uso racional e a preservação dos aspectos quali-quantitativos dos recursos hídricos quando da formulação da metodologia e da proposição de valores.Palavras-chave: Gestão Hídrica. Designing an extensive set of mid-air gestures that are both easy to learn and perform quickly presents a significant challenge. Further complicating this challenge is achieving high-accuracy detection of such gestures using commonly available hardware, like a 2D commodity camera. Previous work often proposed smaller, application-specific gesture sets, requiring specialized hardware and struggling with adaptability across diverse environments. Addressing these limitations, this paper introduces Abacus Gestures, a comprehensive collection of 100 mid-air gestures. Drawing on the metaphor of Finger Abacus counting, gestures are formed from various combinations of open and closed fingers, each assigned different values. We developed an algorithm using an off-the-shelf computer vision library capable of detecting these gestures from a 2D commodity camera feed with an accuracy exceeding 98% for palms facing the camera and 95% for palms facing the body. We assessed the detection accuracy, ease of learning, and usability of these gestures in a user study involving 20 participants. The study found that participants could learn Abacus Gestures within five minutes after executing just 15 gestures and could recall them after a four-month interval. Additionally, most participants developed motor memory for these gestures after performing 100 gestures. Most of the gestures were easy to execute with the designated finger combinations, and the flexibility in executing the gestures using multiple finger combinations further enhanced the usability. Based on these findings, we created a taxonomy that categorizes Abacus Gestures into five groups based on motor memory development and three difficulty levels according to their ease of execution. Finally, we provided design guidelines and proposed potential use cases for Abacus Gestures in the realm of mid-air interaction.

In the paper, we consider recognition of sign languages (SL) with a particular focus on Russian and Indian SLs. The proposed recognition system includes five components: configuration, orientation, localization, movement and non-manual markers. The analysis uses methods of recognition of individual gestures and continuous sign speech for Indian and Russian sign languages (RSL). To recognize individual gestures, the RSL Dataset was developed, which includes more than 35,000 files for over 1000 signs. Each sign was performed with 5 repetitions and at least by 5 deaf native speakers of the Russian Sign Language from Siberia. To isolate epenthesis for continuous RSL, 312 sentences with 5 repetitions were selected and recorded on video. Five types of movements were distinguished, namely, "No gesture", "There is a gesture", "Initial movement", "Transitional movement", "Final movement". The markup of sentences for highlighting epenthesis was carried out on the Supervisely.ly platform. A recurrent network architecture (LSTM) was built, implemented using the TensorFlow Keras machine learning library. The accuracy of correct recognition of epenthesis was 95 %. The work on a similar dataset for the recognition of both individual gestures and continuous Indian sign language (ISL) is continuing. To recognize hand gestures, the mediapipe holistic library module was used. It contains a group of trained neural network algorithms that allow obtaining the coordinates of the key points of the body, palms and face of a person in the image. The accuracy of 85 % was achieved for the verification data. In the future, it is necessary to significantly increase the amount of labeled data. To recognize non-manual components, a number of rules have been developed for certain movements in the face. These rules include positions for the eyes, eyelids, mouth, tongue, and head tilt.

Teknik Interaksi Manusia dan Komputer (IMK) mengalami perkembangan pesat. Dibuktikan dengan banyak teknik baru dengan antarmuka yang alami dan mudah digunakan tanpa peralatan eksternal yang khusus. Pada penelitian ini diterapkan pengenalan isyarat tangan pada IMK agar dapat berinteraksi dengan komputer tanpa dibatasi oleh penggunaan tetikus. Isyarat tangan yang akan dikenali terdiri atas 8 isyarat yang merupakan kombinasi dari ibu jari, jari telunjuk, dan jari kelingking karena mewakili operasi dasar yang sering digunakan pada tetikus. Setiap jari dalam posisi direntangkan dan tidak berhimpitan. Tangan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah tangan kiri. Background model dan sampel warna kulit diperlukan sebagai masukan. Pengolahan citra digunakan untuk mendapatkan segmentasi tangan dengan menggunakan algoritma Freeman Chain Code. Hasilnya digunakan pada proses ekstraksi fitur. Proses ekstraksi fitur terdiri atas algoritma: Convex Hull untuk mencari titik Hull sebagai ujung jari, Convexity Defects mencari titik defects sebagai deskripsi jari, dan Maximum Inscribed Circle (MIC) untuk deteksi titik pusat telapak tangan. Hasil penelitian berhasil mengenali isyarat tangan dengan nilai akurasi lebih dari 90% dengan kondisi pencahayaan kurang dan cukup. Techniques of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) growing rapidly. Many new techniques with a natural interface and easy to use without any special external equipment. In this research apply to the HCI hand gesture recognition to interact with the computer without being limited by mouse. Hand gesture to be recognized consists of 8 cues, the combination of the thumb, forefinger and little finger to represent the basic operations of a mouse. Each finger in a stretched position, do not coincide, and the hands are used in this study are left hand. Background models and samples of skin color is required as input. Image processing is used to obtain the hand segmentation using Freeman chain code algorithms and the results will be used in the process of feature extraction. The feature extraction process consists of algorithms Convex hull to find points as fingertips, convexity defects lookout point defects as a description of the fingers, and palms central point detection using maximum Inscribed circle (MIC). The results showed that the method of Convex Hull and Convexity Defects managed to recognize hand signals with an accuracy value of more than 90% with sufficient and less lighting conditions.

After technological improvements; desktops, laptops, palms, tablets, smart phones, and now wearable technologies are very popular for users. These changes have affected education and instruction activities closely. In order to have successful technology integration implementations, new technologies should be used for educational purposes. Innovative technologies have been changed day by day. Nowadays, computer aided gesture based learning, augmented reality, virtual reality, and wearable technologies would be seen as innovative technologies. Technology integration is one of the most important subjects of educational technology area. Master theses and doctoral dissertations at this area have a lot of effects on teaching activities. Therefore, 495 graduate theses related to Computer and Instructional Technologies Education and Educational Technology were examined in this study to find out how many theses had been completed with innovative technologies in Turkey among 2011-2015. The data of this study were analyzed by using qualitative approaches and document analysis method was used in the study. Content analysis was performed on the data. At the creating themes stage, the focus was innovative technologies as computer aided gesture based learning, augmented reality, virtual reality, and wearable technologies. These themes were coded as innovative technologies. According to the analyze results, there are only 7 studies interested with innovative technologies between 2011 and 2015 years. 5 of them are interested with augmented reality. A computer aided gesture based learning master thesis and a virtual reality master thesis were completed from 2011 to 2015. There is no study interested with wearable technologies. The most common subjects are design of teaching and learning environments, methods, and individual features and differences. The results show that there is not enough doctoral and master study which benefited innovative technologies such as gesture based learning, augmented reality, virtual reality, and wearable technologies. It seems that we need more graduate theses to understand innovative technologies’ impact on educational activities well. It can also be examined why these issues have not been adequately researched in the area as master thesis and doctoral dissertation studies. ÖzetTeknolojik gelişmelerle birlikte masaüstü bilgisayarlar, dizüstü bilgisayarlar, cep bilgisayarları, tablet bilgisayarlar ve akıllı telefonlar derken son zamanlarda da giyilebilir teknolojiler kullanıcılar için oldukça popüler olmuştur. Bu değişimler eğitim ve öğretim etkinliklerini oldukça yakından etkilemektedir. Teknoloji entegrasyonu, öğretimsel etkinliklerin başarısı açısından oldukça önemlidir ve başarılı teknoloji entegrasyonu uygulamaları için yeni teknolojilerin eğitim amaçlı kullanımlarının gerçekleştirilmesi gerekmektedir. Yenilikçi teknolojilerin her geçen gün farklılaşmasıyla birlikte günümüzün yenilikçi teknolojileri olarak; bilgisayar destekli hareket tabanlı öğrenme sistemleri, artırılmış ve sanal gerçeklik uygulamaları ile giyilebilir teknolojiler sıralanabilir. Teknoloji entegrasyonu eğitim teknolojisi alanının önemli çalışma konularından birisidir. Bu alanda yapılan birçok lisansüstü çalışmanın da öğretim etkinlikleri üzerinde önemli bir etkisi bulunmaktadır. Bundan dolayı bu çalışmada Bilgisayar ve Öğretim Teknolojileri Eğitimi ve Eğitim Teknolojileri ile ilgili 2011-2015 yılları arasında Türkiye’de tamamlanmış 495 lisansüstü tez çalışması yenilikçi teknolojilerin kullanım durumlarını ortaya koymak amacıyla incelenmiştir. Nitel araştırma modelinde desenlenen bu çalışmada doküman analizi yöntemi kullanılarak veriler toplanmıştır. İçerik analizi ile çözümlemeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Temaların oluşturulmasında odak, yenilikçi teknolojiler üzerine olmuştur. Çözümleme sonuçlarına göre; 2011-2015 yılları arasında yenilikçi teknolojilerle ilgilenen sadece yedi lisansüstü tez çalışmasının olduğu görülmüştür. Yedi çalışmanın beşi artırılmış gerçeklikle ilgilidir. Son beş yıl içerisinde bilgisayar destekli hareket tabanlı öğrenme ile ilgili bir adet ve sanal gerçeklikle ilgili bir adet yüksek lisans tez çalışması yapılmışken giyilebilir teknolojiler ile ilgili olarak alanda yapılmış herhangi bir lisansüstü tez çalışmasına rastlanılmamıştır. En yaygın çalışma konuları öğretme ve öğrenme ortamlarının tasarımı, yöntemler ve bireysel özellikler ile farklılıklardır. Çalışma sonuçları hareket temelli öğrenme, artırılmış gerçeklik, sanal gerçeklik ve giyilebilir teknolojiler gibi yenilikçi teknolojileri araştıran yeterli sayıda doktora ve yüksek lisans tezi olmadığını göstermiştir. Bu yenilikçi teknolojilerin eğitim üzerindeki etkilerini daha iyi anlayabilmemiz için daha fazla lisansüstü tez çalışmasına ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Aynı zamanda bu konuların neden alandaki lisansüstü tez çalışmalarında yeterince araştırılmadığı da ayrıca incelenebilir.

RESUMENEste trabajo presenta los resultados de la última documentación y estudio de los grabados existentes en el Pozo de la Cruz, que forman parte de las estructuras visibles en el yacimiento arqueológico de San Marcial de Rubicón (Yaiza, Lanzarote, España). Gracias al uso combinado de la fotografía nocturna y de la fotogrametría 3D, y a partir del análisis detallado de dos de sus grabados más singulares, se propone una nueva hipótesis de trabajo que apoya en gran medida la teoría inicial lanzada por sus descubridores a finales de la década de 1980. El objetivo es arrojar luz sobre uno de los hallazgos más polémicos de la arqueología canaria, sobre el que se han construido y apoyado varias teorías hasta la fecha. Abstract"Salam Namaste" is a gesture of placing your palms together on your chest and bending your body slightly, which is commonly practiced by Indonesians as a symbol of respect for someone they meet. This body gesture is a safe way of interacting during a pandemic, because it can minimize virus transmission through body contact without losing the noble meaning of human interaction with each other. "Salam Namaste" is a means of communication that unites the diversity of Indonesian cultures. This paper uses a conceptual, statutory and eclectic approach to "Salam Namaste" which is a form of traditional cultural expression. Indonesian culture is full of wisdom, so that "Salam Namaste" deserves legal protection in the form of State-owned Intellectual Property Rights as regulated in Article 38 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright.Keywords: copyright; local wisdom "Salam Namaste"; strengthening of social identityAbstrak“Salam Namaste” merupakan gestur tubuh mengatupkan kedua telapak tangan di dada dan sedikit membungkukkan badan, yang lazim dilakukan oleh masyarakat Indonesia sebagai simbol penghormatan terhadap seseorang yang dijumpai. Gestur tubuh ini menjadi cara berinteraksi yang aman di masa pandemi, karena dapat meminimalisir penularan virus lewat kontak tubuh tanpa kehilangan makna luhur interaksi manusia dengan sesamanya. “Salam Namaste” menjadi sarana komunikasi yang menyatukan keragaman budaya Indonesia. Tulisan ini menggunakan pendekatan konseptua, perundang-undangan serta eklektik terhadap “Salam Namaste” yang merupakan suatu bentuk ekspresi budaya tradisional. Budaya Indonesia sarat makna kearifan, sehingga “Salam Namaste” sudah selayaknya mendapatkan perlindungan hukum dalam bentuk Hak atas Kekayaan Intelektual milik negara sebagaimana diatur pada Pasal 38 Undang-Undang Republik Indonesia Nomor 28 Tahun 2014 tentang Hak Cipta.

This study presents a new approach for an sEMG hand prosthesis based on a 3D printed model with a fully embedded computer vision (CV) system in a hybrid version. A modified 5-layer Smaller Visual Geometry Group (VGG) convolutional neural network (CNN), running on a Raspberry Pi 3 microcomputer connected to a webcam, recognizes the shape of daily use objects, and defines the pattern of the prosthetic grasp/gesture among five classes: Palmar Neutral, Palmar Pronated, Tripod Pinch, Key Grasp, and Index Finger Extension. Using the Myoware board and a finite state machine, the user's intention, depicted by a myoelectric signal, starts the process, photographing the object, proceeding to the grasp/gesture classification, and commands the prosthetic motors to execute the movements. Keras software was used as an application programming interface and TensorFlow as numerical computing software. The proposed system obtained 99% accuracy, 97% sensitivity, and 99% specificity, showing that the CV system is a promising technology to assist the definition of the grasp pattern in prosthetic devices.

Gesture control is often used for the control of robotic manipulators. However conventional methods always focus on position control of robotic manipulators and use a fixed position to place gesture detection devices, which limits the flexibility to control and interact. This paper presents an interactive gesture control system based on Leap Motion Controller that can overcome these shortcomings. A coordinate transformation is performed between the position of the left palm detected by Leap Motion Controller and the tool center point (TCP) of the collaborative manipulator to obtain gesture data first. This gesture data is used to control the posture of a six-joint collaborative manipulator-Lite6. The position of gripper is controlled by grip level of the right palm. A controller is designed to manipulate a lift table on which Leap Motion Controller is placed to achieve adaptive ascending and descending movements to meet the needs of operators of different heights and arm spans. A modified Kalman filter is used to filter noise and smooth the signal captured by Leap Motion Controller. The experiments demonstrate that the system can operate stably and accurately control the position, posture, and gripper position of a collaborative manipulator in real time using human palms’ gestures.

RESUMO Este artigo pretende destacar a relevância de estudos sobre o discurso de sala de aula, a partir de uma perspectiva multimodal, focalizando o modo como os gestos (linguagem não verbal) participam dos processos de significação e quais suas implicações para o engajamento interacional. Apresenta um estudo de pseudo-rastreamento ocular para examinar pistas não-verbais e inconscientes de professores ao buscar obter respostas dos alunos. Em particular, o estudo analisa como os professores se dirigem aos alunos a partir de dois gestos: apontando com o dedo indicador na direção deles ou com mão aberta de palma voltada para cima. O estudo foi realizado em três escolas no Chile e quatro escolas no Reino Unido. Os alunos não apenas seguem as pistas não-verbais muito bem (e muito sutilmente) como também exibem padrões particulares de comportamento proxêmico e não verbal. Os resultados mostram que ao pedir a um estudante uma resposta a uma pergunta com o dedo indicador apontado sua direção resultou em uma mudança negativa repentina, com o aluno se distanciando do professor. Em contraste, quando uma pergunta era acompanhada por um gesto de mão aberta e palma para cima, os alunos se aproximavam e viravam o corpo em direção ao professor. Tais resultados trazem questões importantes para pensar os processos de engajamento no discurso de sala de aula, a partir de aspectos que envolvem sinais não-verbais que participam da produção de sentidos na interação professor-aluno.

Background: This study explores greeting exchanges in stroke care, in particular the use of the ‘wai’ gesture. Method: Seventeen patients with Broca’s aphasia, some family members, six nurses from district public health centers, and four nurses from a district hospital in northern Thailand were given written consent forms for participation. Thirty counseling sessions were video-recorded in patients’ homes and analyzed using conversation analysis. Direct observation and in-depth interview were also used for supplementary data collection. Results: These showed a patient’s daughter helping her to accomplish a greeting. She was encouraged to use one hand to raise the other hand up. Another patient was only able to raise one hand to conduct the normal ‘wai,’ a potential cause of embarrassment for the patient, as the greeting is always formed by putting the two palms of the hands together. The nurse encouraged him to perform the greeting using one hand through different questions and statements. Discussion and conclusion: While the ‘wai’ gesture and the spoken greeting ‘sawatdi’ used for social functions plays an important role in stroke counseling, the nursing guidelines in the Barthel Index excluded them in the section on non-verbal communication assessment. This article suggests that they should be taken into account, in order to improve the nursing guidelines to fit the Thai context.

Abstract This essay considers Isa 49:16, where the image of Zion appears to be inscribed on YHWH’s hands. Since the formulation על־כפים חקתיך is missing the suffix “my” on כפים in the MT and given the specifics of Zion’s lament in v. 14 (i.e., YHWH, Zion’s parent, abandons her in infancy), it will be suggested that the word כפים could refer not to the palms of YHWH’s hands but to the soles of Zion’s feet (with the unusual form כפים underscoring Zion’s age—i.e., she is a young child still crawling on “its fours”; cf. Lev 11:27). Read as “around the soles [of your, namely Zion’s, feet], I have made an engraving of you,” v. 16 echoes a symbolic ANE gesture: that is, the foot-printing of foundlings for adoption. Thus, Isa 49:16 models YHWH’s reestablishment of Zion as daughter on ANE adoption contracts, which in turn is part of Deutero-Isaiah’s wider theology of restoration after the exile.

Architecture is part of the art of life and works best when it seems to give expression to the life that inhabits it. As technology has developed a lot, the field of architecture has also experienced many developments supported by technology such as making architectural designs. The development experienced in making architectural designs is that it is no longer required to draw design choices with side views on a lot of paper but instead use a simulation application for making architectural designs that are displayed through a monitor layer in 3D so that they can see more realistically. After many innovations emerged regarding simulation applications which generally still use hardware such as a mouse, then these innovations shifted to connecting the simulation application with the virtual world where hardware such as a mouse has been replaced by using gestures or limb movements such as parts of the hand or other parts of the body. While other fields like medic already use virtual tool interaction, architecture fields still just use mouse and keyboard. One of the virtual interaction devices used to be able to detect fingers and palms to interact with 3D simulation applications is Leap Motion. Leap Motion is starting to be widely used to carry out various ways of interacting with hands because it is more interactive and interesting to use even many people think that it can be used for hand rehabilitation or therapy too. However, even though many innovations have developed, there is still no innovation in the use of a hand gesture command system using Leap Motion for simulation applications to design architectural designs in 3D views. Based on these things, the authors designed and developed hand gesture commands using Leap Motion for Architectural Design App. The hand gesture command system used for the Floorplanner simulation application will be tested using a system usability scale by users with architectural, informatics, and unfamiliar backgrounds. Based on the tests carried out, it can be seen that the system is running properly even though it requires getting used to the device first and getting a score from the System Usability Scale of 59,167 out of scale from 0 to 100 which means it is still accepted by users or declared as "Marginally Acceptable" category.

A presente pesquisa objetivou verificar a Qualidade de Vida no Trabalho (QVT) do policial militar que desempenha a radiopatrulha noturna, bem como as estratégias que a Corporação adota para minimizar as implicações da privação de sono a esse trabalhador. Métodos: Para alcance dos objetivos foram aplicados 92 questionários a policiais militares dos dois batalhões operacionais da cidade de Palmas – TO, bem como realizadas entrevistas com os comandantes destes batalhões, comparando-se os resultados com a bibliografia consultada. Resultados: Observou-se que 65% da amostra está há mais de cinco anos na atividade estudada; 54% se declarou “nada” ou “muito pouco” satisfeito com as condições de trabalho oferecidas; 57% referiram “bastante” ou “extremo” cansaço ao final da jornada de trabalho; e apenas 31% referiram “alta” ou “muito alta” motivação para o trabalho. As estratégias de gestão identificadas para elevar a QVT nos batalhões estudados foram: um programa de concessão de folgas após as horas extras trabalhadas, o incentivo à prática de exercícios físicos no ambiente de trabalho e o oferecimento de tratamento médico e odontológico básicos dentro dos batalhões. Foi levantado ainda que o policial que trabalha no turno noturno não recebe adicional noturno. Conclusão: Nota-se que avaliar a QVT não é tarefa fácil, principalmente quando se contrapõem as perspectivas do trabalhador com as do gestor; além disso, percebeu-se que ações e programas de QVT só apresentam os resultados que se espera quando inseridas no planejamento estratégico da Instituição.

A Cultura Digital trouxe o mundo para a palma da mão, mas milhares de dúvidas às cabeças. O mundo laboral se transformou; a família percebeu alterações no modo de se relacionar e a escola ainda patina em relação ao assunto. Se faltava uma posição do Ministério da Educação, foi lançado em 2017 e atualizada para versão final em 2018, a Base Nacional Comum Curricular, que se mostra favorável ao uso das mídias digitais por parte da escola. De quem é a culpa agora então? Este artigo mostra como o gestor pode aproveitar ao máximo os aparatos tecnológicos para um currículo atrativo e que cause participação. Para chegar a esse ponto, a discussão começou com o levantamento sobre o papel da escola, com base em pesquisa que buscou os termos currículo, cultura e tecnologia. Mostrou-se que à escola cabe preparar o ser para assumir seu papel no mundo, o que não significa exclusivamente qual profissão exercerá. O trabalho conclui que a criatividade alia os gestores aos demais pesquisadores da área da tecnologia, ou seja, deixando linha para prosseguir nesse estudo.Palavras-chave: ensino criativo; gestão escolar.
