Resumen
Towards Open Graphical Tool-Building Framework Nowadays, there are many frameworks for developing domain-specific tools. However, if we want to create a really sophisticated tool with specific functionality requirements, it is not always an easy task to do. Although tool-building platforms offer some means for extending the tool functionality and accessing it from external applications, it usually requires a deep understanding of various technical implementation details. In this paper we try to go one step closer to a really open graphical tool-building framework that would allow both to change the behavior of the tool and to access the tool from the outside easily. We start by defining a specialization of metamodels which is a great and powerful facility itself. Then we go on and show how this can be applied in the field of graphical domain-specific tool building. The approach is demonstrated on an example of a subset of UML activity diagrams. The benefits of the approach are also clearly indicated. These include a natural and intuitive definition of tools, a strict logic/presentation separation and the openness for extensions as well as for external applications.

Resumen
The demand for machine tools with accuracy on a nanometer scale has been increasing in a wide range of industries. Machine tools have been called “mother machines” in that they produce various other devices. In order to meet the requirements of industry, numerous research activities have been conducted to develop various technologies related to machine tools. However, there are only few established technologies in spite of the machine tool industry’s long history. A new approach to systematizing machine tool engineering is playing an increasingly important role in the development of innovative machine tools. This paper presents a conceptual framework for systematizing machine tool engineering. Future evolutionary trends in machine tool engineering are also described.

Resumen
Abstract Connecting Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to parametric design has been suggested as a way of facilitating performing environmental assessments in early design stages. However, no overviews of potential approaches and tools are available within recent research. Also, no characterisation frameworks adapted for parametric LCA tools are present. In order to guide the development of workflows for environmental analysis aimed at the early design stage of buildings, the goal of this paper is to provide such a framework, and to demonstrate its use by characterising a number of available LCA plug-ins for the commonly used parametric design framework Grasshopper® (GH). First, a framework for classification and characterisation of tools based on workflow, adaptability, and required user knowledge was developed. Second, a tool inventory was performed, identifying 13 parametric LCA plug-ins for GH. Finally, four of these plug-ins were further investigated using the developed evaluation framework, a user persona approach, and a simplified test case. It was found that the characterisation framework was able to differentiate tools based on the level of LCA expertise integrated in the tools, and the allocation of responsibility for data entry and interpretation. A contrast was found between streamlined tools, and tools which provide more versatility. The characterisation framework, and the resulting overview of approaches can be used to guide the future development of parametric environmental analysis frameworks.

Resumen
Model Driven Software Engineering aims to provide a quality assured process for designing and generating software. Modelling frameworks that offer technologies for domain specific language and associated tool construction are called language workbenches. Since modelling is itself a domain, there are benefits to applying a workbenchbased approach to the construction of modelling languages and tools. Such a framework is a meta-modelling tool and those that can generate themselves are reflective metatools. This article reviews the current state of the art for modelling tools and proposes a set of reflective meta-modelling tool requirements. The XTools framework has been designed as a reflective meta-tool and is used as a benchmark.

It is not known how often lean tools and implementation determinants frameworks or checklists are used concurrently in health care quality improvement activities. The authors systematically reviewed the literature for studies that used a lean tool along with an implementation science determinants framework (January 1999 through August 2018). Seven studies (8 publications) were identified, inclusive of 2 protocols and 6 research articles across multiple continents. All included studies used the consolidated framework for implementation research as their implementation science determinants framework. Lean tools included in more than 1 publication were process mapping (4 publications), process redesign (3 publications), and 5S standardization (2 publications). Only 1 study proposed using a lean tool concurrently with an implementation science determinants framework in the design and execution of the QI project. Few published studies utilize both an implementation science determinants framework or checklist and 1 or more lean tool in their study design.

Resumen
For software with nontrivial size and complexity, it is not feasible to manually perform architecture reconstruction. Therefore it is essential for the software architecture miner who is mining architecture from the existing software to have a well-defined software architecture reconstruction process that helps incorporate as much tool use as possible at the appropriate steps of architecture reconstruction. There are some existing software architecture reconstruction frameworks but they do not provide guidelines on how to systematically utilize tools to produce architecture views for a reconstruction purpose. In this paper, we propose a framework for tool-based software architecture reconstruction. This framework consists of a generic process for software architecture reconstruction and the steps to derive from it a concrete tool-based process to be used for actual architecture reconstruction. The architecture miner can use this framework to analyze source code for modifying source code as well as to reconstruct software architecture from source code.

Resumen
AbstractIn Industrial Design, new design visualisation tools are emerging offering significant benefits to the designers. However, studies show alongside some benefits, new tools can also inhibit designers' creativity or cause time inefficiency if used in the wrong context. Thus, understanding which tools to use and when during the design process is increasingly necessary to ensure the best use of resources in design practice. Existing research on understanding the performance of design tools and the resulting frameworks for comparing tools are either specific to certain tools or highly generalised making evaluation across different design tools challenging. As such, this paper reports the creation of a more comprehensive framework of design tool characteristics to facilitate a better understanding of design tools and their uses. Demonstration of application of the framework is also given in the form of a case study on the use of Digital Sketching and its comparable tools with four practising designers. In conclusion, we show how the Design Tool Characteristics (DTCs) framework is an effective way to understand design tools, with further implications for design tool development.

Resumen
The context of sustainable development poses new challenges for traditional environmental decision-making tools, such as environmental impact assessment, environmental management system and life cycle assessment. Today these tools are expected to provide multi-disciplinary information to aid sustainability decisions, not just to inform decisions about environmental effects. This paper brings together the different perspectives of authors from EIA, EMS and clean technology/LCA to examine critically the separate tools in the context of sustainable development, and their inter-relationships, and identifies a "tool-user's dilemma": whether to use a tool as intended, to adapt it or develop something new. The paper examines the similarities of these key tools and recognises both a paradigm shift and a congruence in the way in which they have developed: from being merely tools, through being techniques to approaches. The paper concludes by suggesting an integrated framework within which the tools can continue to operate effectively, and one that helps resolve the tool-user's dilemma. Clean Technology is seen as providing a useful philosophical understanding for the operation of this outline framework.

Resumen
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to develop a nursing quality indicator (NQI) framework and provide a comprehensive reporting mechanism for nursing care. Design/methodology/approach Mixed method, including patient records audit, patient experience questionnaire, nurse self-report questionnaire and collecting ward-level information. The sample was 53 patients and 22 nurses. Findings Outputs from the NQI framework domains offer a more comprehensive understanding of nursing quality compared to when domains are analysed separately. The NQI framework also provides a more inclusive mechanism for assuring nursing care. Research limitations/implications Sample size was limited to 53 English-speaking patients who consented to participating in the study. Originality/value One design strength was the ability to describe individual patient care across the four domains and subsequently show relationships between nursing knowledge, nursing interventions and patient outcomes/experiences. Additionally, corroborated information from three sources (documentation review, patient and nurse responses) strengthened the conclusion that the NQI framework could provide more comprehensive assurances on nursing quality and identify care improvements.

Angling is considered as one of the rural tourism activities and is usually included into group of eco- and/or sustainable tourism activities. That is why it could be used as tourism development tool in rural areas but with local community respect. The aim is to reveal the push and pull motivation factors of rural anglers and their perception of conflicts. A self -organized questionnaire survey of members of the Czech Fishing Union in the Třeboň region was used to obtain required data. Descriptive statistic and factor analysis were used for result analysis. Rural anglers built up a diversified community because seven different push motivation factors have been found. There have been also found several types of the potentially important environment settings for anglers. Environment related motivation issues have been identified as the most important. The conflict analysis has revealed mainly the complexity of the environment related motivation issues as well as the complexity of relations between the anglers and other recreational use of water.

Resumen
The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic caused a surge in online tools commonly known as symptom checkers. The purpose of these symptom checkers was mostly to reduce the health system burden by providing worried people with testing criteria, where to test and how to self-care. Technical, usability and organizational challenges with regard to online forward triage tools have also been reported. Very few of these online forward triage tools have been evaluated. Evidence for decision frameworks may be of particular value in a pandemic setting where time frames are restricted, uncertainties are ubiquitous and the evidence base is changing rapidly. The objective was to develop a framework to evaluate the utility of COVID-19 online forward triage tools. The development of the online forward triage tool utility framework was conducted in three phases. The process was guided by the socio-ecological framework for adherence that states that patient (individual), societal and broader structural factors affect adherence to the tool. In a further step, pragmatic incorporation of themes on the utility of online forward triage tools that emerged from our study as well as from the literature was performed. Seven criteria emerged; tool accessibility, reliability as an information source, medical decision-making aid, allaying fear and anxiety, health system burden reduction, onward forward transmission reduction and systems thinking (usefulness in capacity building, planning and resource allocation, e.g., tests and personal protective equipment). This framework is intended to be a starting point and a generic tool that can be adapted to other online forward triage tools beyond COVID-19. A COVID-19 online forward triage tool meeting all seven criteria can be regarded as fit for purpose. How useful an OFTT is depends on its context and purpose.

Resumen
Biomedical text mining promises to assist biologists in quickly navigating the combined knowledge in their domain. This would allow improved understanding of the complex interactions within biological systems and faster hypothesis generation. New biomedical research articles are published daily and text mining tools are only as good as the corpus from which they work. Many text mining tools are underused because their results are static and do not reflect the constantly expanding knowledge in the field. In order for biomedical text mining to become an indispensable tool used by researchers, this problem must be addressed. To this end, we present PubRunner, a framework for regularly running text mining tools on the latest publications. PubRunner is lightweight, simple to use, and can be integrated with an existing text mining tool. The workflow involves downloading the latest abstracts from PubMed, executing a user-defined tool, pushing the resulting data to a public FTP or Zenodo dataset, and publicizing the location of these results on the public PubRunner website. We illustrate the use of this tool by re-running the commonly used word2vec tool on the latest PubMed abstracts to generate up-to-date word vector representations for the biomedical domain. This shows a proof of concept that we hope will encourage text mining developers to build tools that truly will aid biologists in exploring the latest publications.

Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs) are a diffused tool for taxpayers to obtain certainty in relation to the tax impact of their cross-border activities through an agreement with a tax administration in advance of such activities. APAs can be unilateral, bilateral, or multilateral depending on the number of national tax administrations involved, the latter two promising that the agreement made shall not be questioned in the other affected tax jurisdiction. Departing from the enhanced mutual agreement procedure (MAP) framework recently established among Member States through the Tax Dispute Resolution Directive, a future EU legislative initiative could outline a robust framework for MAP APAs in the Single Market. Biological data are being produced at phenomenal rate and storing, analyzing and interpreting such data in a meaningful way is assuming greater significance. In this article, we will discuss the areas of origin of bioinformatics in the human health care system. Due to the growing network of biological information databases such as human genomes, transcriptomics and proteomics, bioinformatics has become the approach of choosing forensic sciences. High-throughput bioinfor-matic analyses increasingly rely on pipeline frameworks to process sequence and metadata. Here we survey and compare the design philosophies of several current pipeline frameworks. The contributions from the field of biological and medical sciences have facilitated a tremendous increase in the data on various aspects as highlighted above in the text. The results of genomic research will bring a revolution into the field of medicine. The links between various databases of biological and medical significance are important and bioinformatics plays a very vital role in this direction.

The aim of this paper is verification of possibilities of Laravel PHP framework. An overview of literature is presented, which shows Laravel as a research tool in various scientific fields and compares it with other PHP language tools. The project of a test application was presented, which is a database of music albums with three datasets - one, two and five thousand albums. Laravel's Zend Framework and Symfony performance survey was based on, among other things, database loading time, database searches, and the time to generate a single album view with relationships. Summary of the information contained in the paper states that Laravel is an easy-to-use tool, with a number of app creation aids, but with performance outweighed by the frameworks compared to it, the most efficient of which is Zend Framework.

Resumen
Embedding a new programming language into an existing one is a widely used technique, because it fastens the development process and gives a part of a language infrastructure for free (e.g. lexical, syntactical analyzers). In this paper we are presenting a new advantage of this development approach regarding to adding testing support for these new languages. Tool support for testing is a crucial point for a newly designed programming language. It could be done in the hard way by creating a testing tool from scratch, or we could try to reuse existing testing tools by extending them with an interface to our new language. The second approach requires less work, and also it fits very well for the embedded approach. The problem is that the creation of such interfaces is not straightforward at all, because the existing testing tools are mostly not designed to be extendable and to be able to deal with new languages. This paper presents an extendable and modular model of a testing framework, in which the most basic design decision was to keep the - previously mentioned - interface creation simple and straightforward. Other important aspects of our model are the test data generation, the oracle problem and the customizability of the whole testing phase.

Resumen
A scalable Digital Fleet Management system can be leveraged by most organizations with high-volume high-value assets. In such scenarios, predictive analytics for tool health becomes central, as it enables decision-making in terms of planning, maintenance, end-of-life replacement, tool selection, etc. End-to-end solutions, spanning all the way from gathering live tool data to the visual representation of tool health, are certainly of major interest. Long-term fleet management can be accomplished through a consistent evaluation of the fleet performance profile. Predictive analysis can anticipate maintenance needs and resultant downtimes, and in turn it helps improve scheduling of procurement and distribution of the fleet. This paper focuses on managing a fleet of thousands of downhole tools based on tool health condition and other variables – a very common use case in Oil & Gas Services. An end-to-end automated scalable cloud framework is described in detail. This framework integrates failure prediction models for each single asset in the fleet of tools. Based on historical tool data, the models generate tool risk indices (one index per asset) which correlate to the probability of tool failure during near-future field jobs. These risk indices can be used for optimal asset-to-job mapping. They also help in de-risking field operations by identifying tools for overhaul or retirement. The proposed method integrates the tasks of: fetching data from 200,000+ tools, performing feature engineering, modeling via Machine Learning (ML) , and visualizing into a cloud pipeline. Framework scalability becomes a key requirement as fleet size increases or decreases over time to match market demands. The framework also allows for the addition of new ML models to the platform by citizen data scientists, who are not cloud experts. Finally, it is shown who this framework provides systematic steps for sustenance of such large cloud platform.

A requirement of the UK Government's strategy for sustainable development, published in 1999, was that all English regions would produce a sustainability framework by the end of 2000. In the Northwest, the framework has been produced under the title Action for Sustainability. The framework is addressed at a wide audience of strategists and key decision-makers, including elected members and those in the public, private and voluntary sectors. One of the framework's main uses is to be a tool for regional sustainability appraisal. The work undertaken to produce the framework is described by one of those involved in the process. The published framework is evaluated using current concepts of sustainable development. The way in which the framework is already beginning to influence development in the Northwest is illustrated by two case studies involving appraisals of the Regional Planning Guidance and applications for funding from the Single Regeneration Budget.

To fill such gap, this work proposes an analytics framework solution for augmented reality applications. It supports both markerbased and markerless augmented reality scenarios, collecting data related to camera pose and time spent by the user on each position. Besides the multiplatform capture tool, the framework provides a data analysis visualization tool capable of highlighting the most visited 3D positions, users main areas of interest over the marker plane, the 3D path performed by the camera and also a recovery of the content viewed by the user based on the collected camera pose information. Tests were performed using as case study a promotional campaign scenario and user behavior information was extracted using the proposed visualization tools.

The workflow involves downloading the latest abstracts from PubMed, executing a user-defined tool, pushing the resulting data to a public FTP, and publicizing the location of these results on the public PubRunner website. This shows a proof of concept that we hope will encourage text mining developers to build tools that truly will aid biologists in exploring the latest publications.

Resumen
Nordic Test Beds (NoTeB) is a Nordic Innovation funded project to strengthen Nordic health care cooperation. By joining Nordic university hospitals and innovation centers, its aim has been to provide a Nordic test bed cooperation ecosystem that includes templates and tools for early decisional support. The objective of this study was to describe how the partners in the Nordic collaboration developed and agreed upon an early assessment framework in health care. The framework was also presented as a user guide with the aim of providing advisory guidelines accessible to health care institutions to support early assessment of health innovation. A co-creation process comprising all collaborating Nordic partners initiated by a workshop, sharing current practice and aligning needs and content of for a decision support tool. Large Nordic variation in value assessment approaches were found. For the decision-making tools, two important features were emphasized; the need for a decision support rather than a decision-making tool and that the tool should be based on valid measures; HTA- methodology. For the user guide, it was emphasized that it should be easily available in an easy-to-read report format. In conclusion, NoTeB was successful in uniting Nordic countries in a common objective to develop a decision-making tool and a user guide to assess health innovations. Although the tools and the guide are still to be tested, this is a first step in developing a standardized tool for innovation assessment among the Nordic countries.

Resumen
This paper presents a hydroinformatics management tool designed to optimize the program of measures (PoM) to achieve the European Water Framework Directive (WFD) objectives in the internal Catalonian watersheds. The tool incorporates the Qual2kw water quality model to simulate the effects of the PoM used to reduce pollution pressure on the hydrologic network. It includes a Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm (MOEA) to identify efficient trade-offs between PoM cost and water quality. It also uses multi-criteria visualization and statistical analysis tools as a user-friendly interface. This management tool is based on the Pressure–Impact concept, selecting the most effective combinations of sewage treatment technologies from millions of technologically admissible combinations. Moreover, the tool is oriented to guide stakeholders and water managers in their decision-making processes. Some guidelines are also given in this paper on the use of analytical relationships from the field of evolutionary multi-criteria optimization algorithms for different parameters (elitism, crossover and mutation rate, population size) to ensure that the MOEA is competently designed to navigate the criteria space of the management problem. Additionally, this paper analyzes the results of applying the management tool in the Muga watershed, whereby guaranteeing its convergence within a reasonable computational time, in order to simplify the decision-making process.

Resumen
The growing popularity of web application development is reaching not only developers but also entrepreneurs looking for effective business solutions. The main evaluation criteria when developing a web application are its economic component, complexity of integration, UI, UX, the ability to solve a wide range of tasks, as well as the availability of documentation from the API. Using the framework can speed up and simplify the process of developing web applications. Therefore, the study of the AngularJS framework as a tool for website development and analysis of results is relevant today. To solve this problem, a research program was identified, consisting of the following tasks: review of existing systems for website development using the AngularJS framework; research of the system and libraries for website development by means of the AngularJS framework; defining the capabilities and functionality of AngularJS in accordance with modern requirements in web development. It has been found that some developers think that it is better not to use third-party developments and develop web applications from scratch, while others use frameworks because it greatly simplifies and speeds up development, this technology also reduces duplication of code, simplifies tuning and speed of website development. Using HTML as a template language in Angular.js and directives allow focusing on logic processing and being more productive. They can be reused, which also increases the readability of the code. Parts of the program are located inside Angular.js modules, which are easy to handle. This breakdown allows downloading only the necessary services and performing automatic testing effectively. The work presents an analysis of the AngularJS framework to support the use of full-fledged classes, modular architecture, data binding, components that speed up and simplify program debugging, as well as strong points compared to other frameworks. The work also analyzes the possibilities of developing websites using the AngularJS framework. For this, research and software implementation of various types of websites using the AngularJS framework was carried out. The framework disadvantages and advantages are considered. The analysis results in the justification for the choice of the framework for the development of websites depending on the objectives.

Resumen
This paper offers a conceptual framework and a set of tools that use rhizomes as a metaphor for healing in the context of oppressive violence. Existing conceptualizations of trauma, trauma recovery, and healing offer important tools for framing and addressing the impacts of oppression on individuals and groups. These exist in a fractured practice ground where practitioners are socialized into divisions such as “micro” vs. “macro” practice and “self-care” vs. “the work.” The Healing is Rhizomatic conceptual framework identifies five nodes (body, felt sense, relationships, place, story) and three dimensions of healing-oriented engagement (recognition, readying the ground, (re)generation) that exist across these approaches. Adaptable to multiple levels of analysis, the conceptual framework focuses on fracture, blockage, and connection as core experiences. These experiences occur in, through, and between the nodes and dimensions. This paper explores use of the conceptual framework and tools for applying it as a mechanism for assessment and reflection about internalized and operational definitions and approaches to healing. Thereby, the framework and tools offer a view of a common practice ground for practitioners engaged in healing work in the context of oppressive violence and is intended to support deeper awareness, collaboration, and coordination of approaches.

Resumen
AbstractMany municipalities in Central Europe deal with the problem of invasive species in their natural ecosystems. Invasive vegetation eradicates native species and causes dense stands that damage the natural environment. This work shows how important it is to have an informative tool for municipalities to be successful in their struggles with invasive species. A Driver – Pressure – State – Impact - Response (DPSIR) framework is a decision - making tool, and this one is particularly applied to the species Fallopia japonica. Fallopia japonica is an extremely invasive and aggressive weed, and it is very often found in riverbank vegetation. This specific framework can be used as a tool for municipal managers to highlight all the problems with Fallopia japonica and define all the responses that should be provided by the municipalities. The work points out the steps that show how important it is to have a strategy or a clear concept of how to begin with such a serious issue as the presence of Fallopia japonica in riverbank vegetation and its eradication. This framework provides simple steps that cannot be excluded when a municipality start actions against Fallopia japonica. All the indicators used in the model are based on the information known about Fallopia japonica that are presented in the literature.
