Resumen
SummaryThe growing number of studies on the relationship between life events and depression is indicative of interest in this area. In most studies, a standard impact scores is calculated for experienced events. These standard scores are means for representation of impact as rated by groups of subject-judges. In the present study, depressives and controls were asked to rate the impact of 51 experienced events and “represented” events in a list form derived from standard studies. The findings indicate that 1) Depressives rate experienced events and represented events more negatively than controls; 2) Both depressives and controls rate certain “represented” events more negatively than experienced events. Eleven “represented” events are rated higher than the same experienced events. The results verify our hypothesis: Representation and Reality are two different assessments and one cannot be used to estimate the other. Moreover, the extrapolation to another group of impact scores obtained with controls, although common practice in the literature, is not valid.

Resumen
The aim of the article is to propose a new way of perceiving and researching meetings and events, which in turn will contribute to our understanding of how to stimulate the development of this sector more effectively. Thus far, researchers have tended to emphasize the economic importance of meetings. The article presents an innovative research approach concerning one specific type of meetings, namely "congresses". This new paradigm focuses on the institutional role of congresses. The analysis has identified the functions that congresses perform in relation to market stakeholders and the relationships between them that create cooperation. Convention Bureaus and Congress Ambassadors were identified as new institutions that have added to the development of the entire congress market. As the most important for the development of Meeting Industry, the article indicates the synergy between the stakeholders of the sector and the activation of the demand side by strengthening the role of associations.

Resumen
The question of relations between performance studies and new anthropology of events within the open cultural field directly points to the internal interventionist practice of performance and event as the agent of generative and constitutive roles in terms of initiating social processes and situations. An analysis of Turner’s dramaturgical patterns in the development and solution of social crisis, as well as Goffman’s social roles, in direct relation with performance studies, indicate that there is an original connection of these two theoretical platforms and point to their integral importance in terms of actualization and critical thinking related to current social situations. The basic theoretical and social transformations, connected to globalism and interculturalism, led to a redefinition of the aims and range of anthropological knowledge. Global anthropology of the contemporary in current, mediatized society is connected to the question of event, i.e. the event as performance, including different aspects of presence and behavior in a wide spectrum of human activities, along with their consequences. Resumen
Macroeconomic news announcements are elaborate and multidimensional. We consider a framework in which jumps in asset prices around announcements reflect both the response to observed surprises in headline numbers and to latent factors, reflecting other news in the release. Non-headline news, for which there are no expectations surveys, is unobservable to the econometrician but nonetheless elicits a market response. We estimate the model by the Kalman filter, which efficiently combines OLS and heteroskedasticity-based event study estimators in one step. With the inclusion of a single latent surprise factor, essentially all yield curve variance in event windows are explained by news. (JEL C51, E43, E52, G12, G14)

Acetyl salicylic acid (ASA) is widely used in clinical practice. Previous studies done in rats showed unexpected thrombotic potencies of this drug used at ultra-low doses. This review is the first report in which the effects of a wide range of ASA concentration on a microvessel model of laser-induced thrombus formation and Induced Hemorrhagic Time in animals were largely studied.

Resumen
Extreme climatic events (ECEs) have a disproportionate effect on ecosystems. Yet much of what we know about the ecological impact of ECEs is based on observing the effects of single extreme events. We examined what characteristics affect the strength of inference that can be drawn from single-event studies, which broadly fell into three categories: opportunistic observational studies initiated after an ECE, long-term observational studies with data before and after an ECE and experiments. Because extreme events occur rarely, inference from such single-event studies cannot easily be made under the usual statistical paradigm that relies on replication and control. However, single-event studies can yield important information for theory development and can contribute to meta-analyses. Adaptive management approaches can be used to learn from single, or a few, extreme events. We identify a number of factors that can make observations of single events more informative. These include providing robust estimates of the magnitude of ecological responses and some measure of climatic extremeness, collecting ancillary data that can inform on mechanisms, continuing to observe the biological system after the ECE and combining observational data with experiments and models. Well-designed single-event studies are an important contribution to our understanding of biological effects of ECEs. This article is part of the themed issue ‘Behavioural, ecological and evolutionary responses to extreme climatic events’.
