Texto completoLet U be a compact Lie group and K a closed subgroup such that the quotient space U/K is a compact symmetric space. We apply geometric quantization to the cotangent bundle of U/K, for which we have two natural choices for a polarization: the vertical polarization and the holomorphic polarization. Geometric quantization then gives us two Hilbert spaces, one a space of functions on U/K and the other a space of holomorphic functions on the cotangent bundle which can be identifies with the complexification U^C/K^C. We obtain the BKS pairing between these two spaces, which gives us (in theory) the BKS transform between these two spaces. In order to study whether this BKS transform is unitary, we use in particular the theory of unitary representations of compact Lie groups, which allows us to reduce this question to a question that involves only spherical functions. Uniqueness of spherical functions for a given representation then simplifies the problem enormously. Our method can be applied to compact Lie groups by considering a compact Lie group K as a compact symmetric space: it suffices to take U=K x K and K =diag(K). By using Kirillov's character formula our method allows us to give yet another proof that the BKS transform for compact Lie groups is unitary (our proof is a variation of the proof given by Huebschmann). Our method also allows us to show that the BKS transform is not unitary for an arbitrary compact symmetric space. An explicit counter example is the 5-sphere S^5 seen as symmetric space by taking S^5=SO(6)/SO(5). On the other hand, introducing the parameter hbar as suggested by physics, we show that the BKS transform is asymptotically unitary for all compact symmetric spaces in the limit hbar --> 0

Texto completoThis work deals with the representations of social and economic development of fragile rural areas. It aims at proving that fragility, as it is characterized by those who are in charge of land planning, is not the only possible representation. People who live in these rural areas considered as fragile, share other representations, based on their own spacial practices and their own experiences of development. In order to elaborate another method of diagnosis, a new approach can be proposed, based on this different image of fragile areas

Texto completoIn the Information Retrieval field, documents are usually considered as a "bagof-words". This model does not take into account the temporal structure of thedocument and is sensitive to noises which can alter its lexical form. These noisescan be produced by different sources : uncontrolled form of documents in microbloggingplatforms, automatic transcription of speech documents which are errorprone, lexical and grammatical variabilities in Web forums. . . The work presented inthis thesis addresses issues related to document representations from noisy sources. The thesis consists of three parts in which different representations of content areavailable. The first one compares a classical representation based on a term-frequencyrepresentation to a higher level representation based on a topic space. The abstractionof the document content allows us to limit the alteration of the noisy document byrepresenting its content with a set of high-level features. Our experiments confirm thatmapping a noisy document into a topic space allows us to improve the results obtainedduring different information retrieval tasks compared to a classical approach based onterm frequency. The major problem with such a high-level representation is that it isbased on a space theme whose parameters are chosen empirically. The second part presents a novel representation based on multiple topic spaces thatallow us to solve three main problems : the closeness of the subjects discussed in thedocument, the tricky choice of the "right" values of the topic space parameters and therobustness of the topic-based representation. Based on the idea that a single representationof the contents cannot capture all the relevant information, we propose to increasethe number of views on a single document. This multiplication of views generates "artificial"observations that contain fragments of useful information. The first experimentvalidated the multi-view approach to represent noisy texts. However, it has the disadvantageof being very large and redundant and of containing additional variability associatedwith the diversity of views. In the second step, we propose a method based onfactor analysis to compact the different views and to obtain a new robust representationof low dimension which contains only the informative part of the document whilethe noisy variabilities are compensated. During a dialogue classification task, the compressionprocess confirmed that this compact representation allows us to improve therobustness of noisy document representation.Nonetheless, during the learning process of topic spaces, the document is consideredas a "bag-of-words" while many studies have showed that the word position in a7document is useful. A representation which takes into account the temporal structureof the document based on hyper-complex numbers is proposed in the third part. Thisrepresentation is based on the hyper-complex numbers of dimension four named quaternions. Our experiments on a classification task have showed the effectiveness of theproposed approach compared to a conventional "bag-of-words" representation

Texto completoWe consider the space of representations Hom(Pi,G) of a surface group Pi into a Lie group G, and the moduli space X(Pi,G) of G-conjugacy classes of such representations. These spaces admit a natural action of the mapping class group of the underlying surface S, and this actions displays very rich dynamics depending on the choice of the Lie group G, and on the connected component of the space that we consider. In this thesis, we focus on the case when S is a non-orientable surface. In the rst part, we study the dynamical properties of the mapping class group actions on the moduli space X(Pi,SU(2)) and prove that this action is ergodic when the Euler characteristic of the surface is less than -1 with respect to a natural measure on the space. In the second part, we show that the representation space Hom (Pi , PSL(2,R)) has two connected components indexed by a Stiefel-Whitney class

Texto completoIn 1999, Dimitri Markushevich and Alexander Tikhomirov described a family of rank 2 vector bundles with “natural” cohomology on a smooth cubic hypersurface X of P 4, which they called instantons. The moduli space M(X) of instanton bundles is isomorphic to an open subset of the intermediate Jacobian J(X) of X, a 5 dimensional complex torus. In 2000, Druel gave a complete description of the boundary of M(X) in the Gieseker-Maruyama compactification (X) parametrizing semistable sheaves of rank 2. It turns out that (X) is not isomorphic to J(X) but to the blow up of J(X) along a smooth surface. A natural question arises whether J(X), the simplest compactification of M(X) in the class of varieties, can also be interpreted as a compactification in the class of moduli spaces of objects related to X. This question motivates the search for alternative compactifications of M(X) that are moduli spaces. Another motivation for this problem is to find a compactification (X) of M(X) whose relation with M(X) is similar to the one existing between the Donaldson-Uhlenbeck and the Gieseker-Maruyama compactifications of moduli spaces of instantons on algebraic surfaces. Jun Li proved that the latter is a blowup of the former. Yet another motivation is to obtain a compactification that is easier to handle on singular cubics, since in the singular case the boundary of (X) is intractable. Moreover, when the cubic X varies in the family of hyperplane sections of a cubic fourfold Y 5 , the spaces M(X) glue together into a manifold carrying a holomorphic symplectic 2-form. It is thus interesting to look for compactified moduli spaces that might be holomorphically symplectic. In the thesis we replace instanton bundles by their locally free skew-symmetric resolutions in P4. These are just the representations of cubics as the Pfaffians of 6 6 skew-symmetric matrices of linear forms. The compact moduli space (X) is contained in the GIT quotient of the locus of semistable matrices for the action of SL(6). The (semi)stability of skew-symmetric matrices of linear forms on P 4 reduces to the (semi)stability of 4 dimensional linear systems (hyperwebs) in the space P14 of skew- symmetric bilinear forms on C6 or else, to the (semi)stability of 5-tuples of complex skew-symmetric matrices of size 6. This problem is studied by a method similar to that applied by C.T.C.Wall to linear systems of quadrics. We obtain (semi)stability criteria in the skew-symmetric case and present a classification of semistable hyperwebs in terms of the possible intersections of P 4 with the Grassmannian Gr(2,6), embedded in P14 via the Plücker embedding. The space of deformations of a sheaf in the boundary B(X0) of M(X0) is studied. Denoting by B, M, , the union of the spaces B(X), M(X), respectively, for X varying in a complete family of deformations of X0, we prove that B is the union of two divisors B’ and B’’ and that at general points of B’, is the blowup of along a smooth subvariety. We conjecture that the same holds for B’’ . This allows us to consider as a sort of Donaldson-Uhlenbeck compactification of M

Texto completoThis thesis is concerned with the development and application of categorical tools in the study of the cluster algebras of S. Fomin and À. Zelevinsky. C. Amiot's generalized cluster category is a triangulated category which has been used, in the case where it is Hom-finite, to categorify a certain class of cluster algebras, using cluster characters in the sense of Y. Palu. In this thesis, we generalize these results to the case where the cluster category is not Hom-finite, thus obtaining a categorification of any skew-symmetric cluster algebra. In order to do so, we restrict ourselves to a subcategory of the cluster category which is stable under mutation and satisfies an analogue of the 2-Calabi-Yau condition. We prove the existence of a cluster character on this subcategory. We then use these tools to interpret the combinatorics of cluster algebras inside the cluster category. In particular, we prove a correspondence between g-vectors and indices, provide an interpretation of F-polynomials, and show that the definition of mutation in the algebra and in the category are consistent with each other. These properties allow us to give new proofs of numerous conjectures for skew-symmetric cluster algebras. Finally, starting from recent work by C. Geiss, B. Leclerc and J. Schrôer, we show how the set of indices parametrizes a basis for a class of cluster algebras. We then show that this construction provides us with a good candidate for a basis of the upper cluster algebra in general

Texto completoThis research brings together women’s history and the history of science on the roles of women in science during the French Enlightenment (1715-1815). The aim is not only to identify women’s modes of action in the eighteenth century and to ascertain the knowledge these women mastered and produced, but also to analyze the dynamics of the circulation networks of this knowledge. In order to avoid confining these women to presumptively defined roles, which are often present-day categories, it is the scientific practices that guide this study, rather than a disciplinary or “professional” approach. Due to the fact that few archival traces of these women exist in scholarly institutions, the reconstruction of their itineraries is based on a biographical approach. This history “from below” of the persona of the Enlightenment Savante sheds light on some of these women’s participation in scientific production, considered as an enterprise with its different actors, its division of labor, its hierarchies, its economy, etc. For example, the career path of Marie-Louise Dupiéry (1746-1830) reveals the daily organization of scholarly work in the astronomy workshop of Jérôme Lalande (1732-1807), and thus contributes to the writing of the history of these invisible technicians. This research also challenges the common periodization of the Age of Enlightenment, which presents the Revolution as the tipping or breaking point between eighteenth and nineteenth century practices and epistemology

Texto completoFrom the loss of status as capital (1864), Turin is seeking a new identity to the unification of the country. The thesis analyzed the actions of pressure groups in the organization of space and the relationship between political and administrative institutions and actors of the city. In this period of uncertainly, cultural and social phenomena are expressions of urban modernization, wich produces the image of a bourgeois town, before being industrial. In the case of Turin, lies the conviction that triggered the modernization of cultural patterns and social policies that have nothing to do with the industrial dimension, in a direct manner. The choise to represent the three aspects of urban morphology of Turin, the geography of beautiful neighbourhoods, industry and popular neighbourhoods, has ensured the gap between the rhetoric of a city "approved" and the reality of a city "wich escapes almost all the intentions of its proponents"

Texto completoThe objective of this thesis is to analyse the use of information technologies in the locations of the World Wars (Verdun, the Somme, Normandie, Alsace, the Vercors, Oradour-sur-Glane). Their recurrent insertion since the 1990s has participated in the transformation of memorial sceneries. The locations are gradually communicated by new structuring of territories, image strategies, a redefinition of exposure, and architecture used as a media. These different levels of modification influence the perception of these spaces and play on visitors experiences and the reconstitution of historical event. The information and communication technologies provide a mediation between the visitor and their perceptions. This research has also allowed us to underline the intricate game of past/present. These technologies are representative of the present and yet they had to combine with the past

Texto completoThe rural areas of Tropical Africa are used by the geography applied at school to show misery and misfortune or to illustrate the diversity of the rural landscapes in the world and the dichotomy between North and South. Our thought falls under a postcolonial approach since it is a question of tracking the representations still anchored in colonial mythology and understanding their mechanism of inertia. The study of the school geography textbooks will enable us to enlighten the presence of exotico-colonial representations of the rural areas of Tropical Africa so that we can analyze them. The geography textbooks are the witnesses of a collective memory and shared representations. Their impact on the pupils and the teachers is considerable. These three actors, who make the class, form a representational and discursive community. The way knowledge is built, together with the importance of representations in the didactic process, will lead us to establish how the vision and the way one talks about a territory - even as far from us as Tropical Africa - are shaped. This vision and the way one talks about a territory is part of the development of space symbolic system. This concept can be defined like a superstructure through which the individuals and the societies develop their connections to the world, that is to say their geographicity, thus creating their own notions of territory, identity and otherness. Starting from representations, this concept allows us to observe the impact on the territories and to study their phenomenological and material dimensions, in fine to apprehend the Tropical Africa, its complexity and its movement

Texto completoThis research focuses on courtship and representations of love among young adults in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, concerning the social transformations that occurred since the 1970s. Through the observation of different spaces of the city, the thesis presents various types of encounters between young people, in order to analyze how a “geography of distance” is set up. The prohibition of an out-of-wedlock relationship places flirtation in a space-time of secrecy, which the online sphere strengthens. The Internet also participates in the sublimation of the beloved and announces the entry into the “love career”, a status by which the individual recognizes his feelings and builds intimacy and trust with the other. Love is also analyzed as an object of speech and transmission. With the observation of the conditions of marriage, the thesis also analyzes the outlines of the ideal spouse in relation with the national policies of the family and the couple, but also through the discourse of elders and religious and academic institutions. A distinction appears between two categories called “love marriage” of “traditional marriage”. By analyzing the contexts of their evocation, these categories reveal issues of reputation or class belonging. Finally, love is analyzed in its representational and symbolic dimension, through weddings and Valentine's Day celebrations. These “shows of love” highlight the cosmopolitan aspect of the Mascatis youth love experiences

Texto completoIf the problematic of time, material, form, and their relationships is longstanding question in musical composition, the old dichotomy between form and material should be reshaped in view of the technological opportunities making possible a finer and more global apprehension in the handling of time in the scope of mixed music. In this context, the question addressed is to which extent the existence of a continuum between the notions of form and material is linked to the explicit design of temporal interlacing? This question involves new paradigms to understand the many components that determine the identity and the mutual relationships of material and form. Our research unfolds in two complementary axes to develop a compositional framework addressing the specification and the management of heterogeneous intertwined temporal processes at different time scales. The first axis works out an explicit topological representation of compositional spaces (based on simplicial complexes) that smoothes the boundaries between form and material. The second one spells out the various kinds of writing and the new temporal paradigms allowed by the Antescofo synchronous real-time programming language. The specification of multiple times during the composition phase and their management during the performance is developed through a strong relational standpoint. The theoretical and practical propositions investigated in this research works are illustrated on several pieces written during the thesis

Texto completoBiodiversity conservation no longer only concerns protected areas. It is also a matter of ecological network. Ecological corridors between habitats participate in the circulation of animal and plant populations. This new perspective extends the scope of conservation to ordinary nature and areas where ecological processes and human activities are strongly intertwined, such as agricultural areas. This study focuses on the implementation of integrated biodiversity conservation in agricultural areas through landscape management for ecological network. We study the modes of governance, representations and practices on several scales, mixing qualitative and quantitative analyses. At the national and regional scales, changes in social representations of the relationship between agriculture and biodiversity are examined with a content analysis of French media. At the regional and local scale, we compare, in three case studies, the modes of governance of a contractual tool of the French ecological network policy: the Green and Blue infrastructure ("Trame verte et bleue"). For this purpose, we use semi-structured interviews and participant observations. At farm scale, we identify with semi-structured interviews, the ways in which biodiversity can be included as a factor in decision–making practices, and we investigate the farmers’ representations of biodiversity and landscape elements. We show the importance of taking into account the diversity of conceptions and representations of landscape by farmers and all stakeholders for successful integrated biodiversity conservation. In the design and implementation of ecological network policies, the predominant conception of landscape is ecological and therefore has difficulty in including the agricultural issues and farmers’ views. Finally, we discuss the theoretical, methodological and practical implications of our results in conservation geography

Texto completoI accomplished my field work in the village called al Miqdar, situated in the Ḥuğariyah region (close to Taiz city). The Ph. D. Is dealing with the changing of sexed relationship in a rural context from 1930 till nowadays. The transformations are studied through the occupation of spaces by the males and females, grid for an anlysis to shed a light on the mutations in terms of roles and representations sexed. To lead such work, I interviewed men and women and I submitted myself to the participatory observation in order to build up the recent social history of the village and its region. Through the interviews leaded I could define three periods. The oldest one, stretching from 1930 till 1950, displays 'flexible' sexed relationship. The tasks accomplished by the men and women are displaying a 'commutativity' of the work according to the social and economical context. In addition to that, in the same period of time, the strong visibility of a category of women proves the fluidity of the space occupation. Between 1950 and 1980, the moving of the men and the women is changing. If their role slightly change the males and females roles do not fundamentally differ. At last, in the last period from 1980 till nowadays it is appearing a nex fixed sexed relationships, reflected in the strict and sexed occupation of the spaces. How to understand the dynamic of the roles and the sexed relationships which are drawn up through the recent social history in this rural region? How to articulate this dynamic with the occupation of spaces? Is it possible to define a link between sexed relationships and spaces? I lead this analysis on the changing sexed roles and sexed representations outside the frame commonly adopted by the studies on the sexed relationships in the arab world. Thus I tried to producea study which does not anchors the males and females in the power relationship, based on the dialectic of oppressed/opressor. Through this grid of analysis it is possible to inscribe the sexed relationship outside the rigid sexed relationship, so often produce in the anthropological literature. At last, the study aims at understanding the differnet mutations of the rural areas in a politico-socialgrid of interpretation of the sexed relationships and non on economical or structural as often the studies assumes

Texto completoWe studied rigidity properties and strong non-rigidity properties for group actions on non-commutative Lp spaces. Recently, variants of Kazhdan's property (T) and fixed-point property (FH) were introduced, respectively called property (TB) and property (FB), and described in terms of orthogonal representations on a Banach space B. We are interested in the case where B is a non-commutative Lp space Lp(M), associated to a von Neumann algebra M. In a first part, we show that if a group has property (T), then it has property (TLp(M)) for any von Neumann algebra M. We deduce that higher rank groups have property (FLp(M)). We show that for some algebras, such as M=B(H), properties (T) and (TLp(M)) are equivalent. By contrast, we characterize groups with property (Tlp), and show that this class of groups is larger than the one with property (T). In a second part, we introduce variants of the Haagerup property (H), namely properties (HLp(M)) and a-FLp(M)-menability, defined in terms of actions on the space Lp(M). We describe relationships between property (H) and its variant (HLp(M)) for different algebras M. We show that groups with property (H) are a-FLp(M)-menable for some algebras M, such as the hyperfinite II infinite factor

Texto completoThe first true urban network in the interior of Portuguese America appears only at the beginning of the 18th century, following the discovery of rich gold deposits in a poorly-known mountainous region which would soon acquire the name of Minas Gerais and would be constituted as a Royal Captaincy of the Portuguese Crown. Gold mining, as well as agricultural and commercial activities, allow for the transformation of small and unstable population centers – miner encampments or roadside rest-stops – into larger and more developed towns. Over the course of the 18th and into the beginning of the 19th centuries, only a handful of these localities receives the title of vila from the Portuguese Crown – a denomination that carries with it the privilege of organizing a câmara, a municipal officer’s corps with judicial, administrative, military and fiscal powers. This dissertation will examine the material and institutional processes by which urban territories and settlements in the expansive areas of Minas Gerais were constituted. The diverse representations of towns and their surrounding territories will be a primary focus as well. The thesis is divided into three parts, each of which corresponds to a different scale of the settlement and urbanization process. In the first instance, the perspective is that of the captaincy as a whole, and the primary focus is the spatial and temporal distribution of the town’s foundings. The second part examines territorial conflicts between several municipalities, including disputes over administrative functions, titles and privileges, and hierarchies and degrees of urban development within the settlements. Finally, passing to the local level, the processes involving the material constitution of urban space are discussed, including the practical problems of management, and diverse observations on these subjects by local elites and foreign travellers

Texto completoThe aim of this thesis is to construct new interesting complex algebraic Fano varieties and varieties with trivial canonical bundle and to analyze their geometry. In the first part we construct special varieties as zero loci of homogeneous bundles inside generalized Grassmannians. We give a complete classification for varieties of small dimension when the bundle is completely reducible. Thus, we prove that the only fourfolds with trivial canonical bundle so constructed which are hyper-Kahler are the examples of Beauville-Donagi and Debarre-Voisin. The same holds in ordinary Grassmannians when the bundle is irreducible in any dimension. In the second part we use orbital degeneracy loci (ODL), which are a generalization of classical degeneracy loci, to construct new varieties. ODL are constructed from a model, which is usually an orbit closure inside a representation. We recall the fundamental properties of ODL. As an illustration of the construction, we construct three Hilbert schemes of two points on a K3 surface as ODL, and many examples of Calabi-Yau and Fano threefolds and fourfolds. Then we study orbit closures inside quiver representations, and we provide crepant Kempf collapsings for those of type A_n, D_4; this allows us to construct some special varieties as ODL.Finally we focus on a particular class of Fano varieties, namely bisymplectic Grassmannians. These varieties admit the action of a torus with a finite number of fixed points. We find the dimension of their moduli space. We then study the equivariant cohomology of symplectic Grassmannians, which turns out to help understanding better that of bisymplectic ones. We analyze in detail the case of dimension 6

Texto completoIn this thesis, we study some actions of the free group of rank two and of the fundamental group of the four-punctured sphere (which is isomorphic to the free group of rank three) on Gromov-hyperbolic spaces. The aim is to investigate two subsets of representations: Bowditch representations (introduced by Bowditch in 1998) and primitive-stable representations (introduced by Minsky in 2010). These two spaces, already studied in the case of representations in [dollar]PSL(2,C)[dollar], provide examples of open domains of discontinuity for the action of the mapping class group on the character variety. Recently, Lee and Xu on the one hand, and Series on the other, proved that these two classes of representations are equivalent in the case of the free group of rank two acting on PSL(2,C). In this thesis, we examine the more general setting where the action of the group is on Gromov-hyperbolic spaces. We show the equivalence between Bowditch representations and primitive-stable representations in this new context by an independent proof, and we establish it in the case of the free group of rank two and of the fundamental group of the four-punctured sphere. This leads us to carry out a combinatorial study of the primitive elements of the free group of rank two and of simple closed curves on the four-punctured sphere, and to show some redundancy properties of these elements. We use these combinatorial arguments combined with large-scale properties of hyperbolic spaces to show the equivalence. As a consequence, we obtain the openness of the set of Bowditch representations in this context

Texto completoThe first problem treated in this thesis is the description of the dual topology of Lie groups with co-compact nilpotent radical, in particular the semi direct products G = K x N of compacts groups K with nilpotent Lie groups N, The dual space G of G had been determined via Mackey’s theory and the geometric parametrization given by R. L. Lipsmann who had proved that there is a bijection between G and the admissible coadjoint orbit space of G. Our object is to compare the Fell topology of the dual space with the natural topology of the quotient space of admissible coadjoint orbits. The first example treated in this work is the case of the motion groups Mn = SO(n) x Rn. We have shown that the dual pace of Mn is homeomorphic with its admissible coadjoint orbit space. This result may be true also for the groups Gn = U(n) x Hn, where Hn is the 2n+1 dimensional Heisenberg Lie group (it is only proved for the group G1). The second issue regarded in this thesis is the determinaton of the irreducible unitary representation p of a group G, for which the kernel of p in L1(G) is given by the functions whose the Fourrier transform annihilates on the orbit O of p. This problem was solved for the case of nilpotent roups by J. Ludwig who had shown that ker(p) = {ƒ ? L1(G); ƒ[accent circonflexe](Op) = {O}} if and only if Op is a flat orbit. The work is to prove that this result remains true for completely solvable Lie groups

Texto completoThis thesis questions the walk in urban context, its practice, performances, walking behaviours and strategies used by walkers when walking, in more or less comfortable situations / uncomfortable, but also how urban policies apprehend this object. This research interests in the daily practice of walk in a dense urban context, usefulness, trivial walking and sometimes denied because automated. This research captures the pedestrian urban mobility by presenting the results of two main areas, namely:- The "In situ" to understand the "how" of walking in cities, in other words the walkers behaviours depending on more or less comfortable situations- The "Ex situ" to identify the "why" of walking and what walkers say about this object. It was about to study the representations of pedestrian urban mobilities. Is the environment (social, temporal and physical) determining the walker behaviour? In which measure(s) the evaluation of the comfort level of a driving situation is involved in the establishment of pedestrian movement strategies? Are the walking social representations involved in choosing to walk in cities? We will also see in which measures walking and pedestrian users have become issues for urban public policies and particularly in the Parisian context (City of Paris). The aim will be to put into perspective this research, in regards with the political context in which it is registered

Texto completoThe framework of Marion Chommaux's PhD thesis is a very active and requiring area of representation theory of p-adic groups, called the "local Langlands program''. A highly investigated branch of this program is the ``relative Langlands program'', of which one of the key players is Dipendra Prasad. Together with Takloo-Bighash, he proposed in 2011 a conjecture concerning distinction of discrete series of inner forms of p-adic general linear groups, with respect to the centralizer of the invertibles of a quadratic extension of the base field: this conjecture is in terms of subtle Galois invariants. In her doctoral work, Marion completeley solves this conjecture in the case of Steinberg representations, and proves it for level zero cuspidal representations of split inner forms. In this latter case, it is remarkable that she obtains a counter-example to a more general version of the conjecture. The techniques employed are diverse. In the first chapter on Steinberg representations, the main tool is the Bernstein-Zelevinsky geometric lemma, but some analytical invariants such as L-functions also play a role. In the second chapter the essential ingredients are Bushnell-Kutzko's type theory (more precisely the admissible pairs of Bushnell-Henniart) and the geometry of the Bruhat-Tits building. Once the classification of level zero cuspidal representations is obtained, Marion skilfully reduces the verification of the conjecture to a result of Fröhlich and Queyrut on the Galois side

Texto completo"Communication shops" in Château-Rouge, reproduce African telecenters and propose telecommunications services and products : international calling cards, call shops, fax, mobile phones, public access to internet. They particularly concentrate around the African market of Château-Rouge (Paris 18). This leads to consider that ICT may contribute to the conception of diasporic identity in a migrant population and that "communication shops" can be studied as a political phenomenon (as constituting a public space for migrant representation), as the outcome of the transnational economy lead by displaced entrepreneurs, and as an heterotopic place where migrants progressively integrate into the host country
