The article describes the informatization level of enterprises operating pipeline networks. Existing problems are presented. These problems are related to the fragmentation of information systems and the inability to provide information support for decision-making on the management of the development and operation of pipeline systems. An overview of the most high-usage used software for automate the activities of enterprises is given. The need to create a common information space of an enterprise and the opportunities it provides is shown. A brief description of the information-computer environment “ANGARA” and the technology of organizing a common information space on its basis is given. The experience of practical application of the information-computer environment “ANGARA” for creating the common information space of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise “Vodocanal” in Irkutsk is cited. On the diagram of the organizational structure of the enterprise the workplaces with access to a common information is showed.

With the rapid development of modern science and technology and computer technique, modern enterprise faces new challenges for product design, production, management, market planning and sales. The products of enterprises develop towards diversification, serialization and individualization. Technological design is important in product manufacturing process and is a bond of product design and actual production. Therefore, modern enterprises need to develop computer aided process planning system to improve the quality and efficiency of process design of the enterprise. Starting from the requirements of enterprises on computer aided process planning systems and combining the existing Web technology, the paper proposes the study on integration of computer aided process planning system and PDM system. The development and application of the system not only provides strong support for enterprises realizing rapid design and manufacture and strong basis for enterprises realizing computer integrated manufacturing system, but also makes informationization degree, economic benefit and social benefit of enterprises improve greatly.

Radio frequency identification(RFID) is high technology, which can rapidly and real-timely acquisition information and accurately deal with information. And it has broad application prospects in retail, logistics, transport and other fields. Service oriented architecture(SOA) is a service-oriented architecture, which is used to design and realize the loose coupling software. For the existing shortcomings of current enterprise information system integration, the RFID technology and SOA are introduced into system integration in order to propose a new enterprise information system integration scheme in this paper. In the proposed system integration scheme, the middleware uses the business documents as the carrier of data exchange among other enterprise application systems, and the data stream technology is used to filter and package RFID data. The rule parsing technology is used to control the business processes. The SOA is used to realize the loose coupling and integration of RFID data event and application system, and deal with the configuration of the components. At the same time, .NET Remoting technology is used to realize the distribution architecture of middleware in order to ensure the deployment flexibility of middleware. The applied cases of a demonstrative application system, blood management and traceability system are used to illustrate its feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed integration scheme. The enterprise information system integration scheme provides an effective solution for system integration between different enterprises or internal enterprises. It can solve the compatibility between different application systems, and takes on the higher service efficiency, less CPU average occupation and better average response time. This study provides a stable and effective solution for information sharing between enterprises, improves the work efficiency and reduces the whole work management capital, and continuously improves the informatization level of the enterprises.

Enterprise systems (ES) or enterprise information systems (EIS) concepts have been researched and utilized for decades, but it was not until the past decade when they became popular in not only the areas of information systems and computer sciences, but also in those of business process management, business process reengineering, industrial engineering, systems engineering, business intelligence, government administration, e-commerce and e-business, and others. The growing needs of using ES to solve real-world problems require intensive study of ES-related techniques and applications. This study explores those ES techniques and their applications in the aerospace industry. Furthermore, an application case of information integration in spacecraft state detection is demonstrated.

Due to these elevated competitiveness and advanced computer technology, a number of new manufacturing and management strategies (e.g., Lean production, Just in time, Kaizen, Concurrent Engineering (CE), Cellular Manufacturing (CM), Agile manufacturing, Business process re-engineering (BPR), Agent-based systems (ABS), Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), virtual manufacturing system have emerged for the innovation of manufacturing industries. The developments in organizational concepts created new concepts such as Smart organizations, Centers of excellence, Intelligent enterprises, Integrated enterprises, Virtual enterprises, Virtual enterprises networks, Dynamic enterprises, Extended enterprises, Agile enterprises, Lean enterprises, Process-driven organizations, e-enterprises, Borderless enterprises, Complicated or complex manufacturing systems, Flat structures and others. These terms have been used by researchers to describe various aspects of enterprises and its operational aspects. Although they have different definitions and scopes, there are several common issues: integration of enterprise functions; integration of enterprise resources; and collaboration. In addition Various vendors produced software applications such as Materials Requirement Planning (MRP), Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP II), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP),CAD/CAM systems, Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Advanced Planning & Scheduling System (APS), Supply Chain Execution (SCE), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Advanced Order Management (AOM), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transport Management System (TMS) and others. Integration of IT applications in companies has always been a hot topic in recent years, leading to the creation of a new working style in the software: Enterprise Application Integration. To present the essence and very detailed image of this, is a main purpose of the paper. After a literature review, authors have described a chosen system, which is being used by the local government entities. The first part of the article traces the evolution of embedded computing applications management companies and the problems that were inevitable faced during the integration efforts. Then, in the article, the infrastructure of EAI is presented, with the detailed description of its: Front, Back, Middle and Web Office areas. In the practical part of the article the structure of Romanian Local Government is presented. And the last of part of the article is derived to Document Management System – a system used in local government authorities. The summary contains authors’ own considerations and conclusions.

Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) is a major problem confronting manufacturing organizations that have deployed large-scale enterprise information systems and aim to coordinate inter- and intraorganizational product development, supply-chain, and customer management activities. Successful EAI is a key enabling step toward implementation of viable Product Life-cycle Management (PLM) strategies. Extant EAI technologies, such as distributed object and messaging technologies for communication and ontology-based database schema integration, are tedious to develop and maintain in an organization. Though workflow management systems have enabled process coordination of both manual and system-oriented tasks in organizations, coping with the lack of adaptability and inter-operability in workflow systems is a manual and resource intensive effort. Recent advances in (i) standardized, modular, and distributed software delivery frameworks, such as web services; (ii) standard semantic markup languages for developing domain ontologies; and (iii) intelligent process coordination frameworks promise the development of flexible, responsive, integrated, and organic process management architectures. In this paper, we present an intelligent mediator-based architecture for enabling EAI. Intraorganizational information sources and services are made available via a web-services framework. An Integrated Service Planning and Execution (ISP&E) framework interleaves service composition and execution at the mediator to fulfill service requests. Processes that interleave information gathering and transactional tasks are generated using domain-independent Hierarchical Task Network (HTN) AI planning and a domain-specific ontology and then executed in a scalable and reliable manner. Benefits and limitations of mediator-based frameworks for EAI and topics for further research are discussed based on a prototype development experience.

In order to remain competitive, the integration of their information systems is an imperative for many large organisations. Applications that originally have been developed independently are now required to interoperate to support new or different functions of the enterprise. Although the mechanisms for application interoperation exist provided by the technology, due to the sheer number and complexity of the running systems, integration solutions � centralised or distributed�appropriate at the local level do not translate successfully to the whole enterprise. Centralised integration approaches often satisfy only some of the integration requirements, they are very expensive, and are fraught with danger since they imply an �all or nothing� approach. Distributed approaches, on the other hand, suffer from complexity and scalability problems as the number of system interfaces to be implemented and the number of execution-time invocations grows with the number of component applications. This dissertation makes a contribution to the field of Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) within the framework of distributed systems technology. Based on real-life case studies experience, we present here a federated approach that controls the size and complexity of the integration effort by reusing existing systems as much as possible and reducing the number of interacting applications. Only selected local elements are exposed to the organisational milieu, and a consistent supporting infrastructure is provided to make systems interactions possible. Our approach provides a flexible and scalable strategy to enterprise integration, avoiding the shortcomings of traditional approaches. We respect existing organisational structures, and demonstrate how appropriate federation infrastructure and protocols enable the interoperation of existing systems. The three main facets of enterprise knowledge are systematically incorporated into the integration effort: a) by the use of domain ontologies to support data integration; b) by the development of a methodology to include business rules; and c) by the development of FEW, a federated workflow model to implement the business processes of the organisation.

Denna rapport behandlar ett tämligen outforskat delområde inom elektroniskt handel, nämligen integration av affärssystem och e-handelssystem. Huvudfrågan i denna rapport går ut på att undersöka hur företag har integrerat sitt affärssystem med sitt e-handelssystem. För att besvara huvudfrågan delades den upp i tre delfrågor. Dessa sökte besvara dels på vilken nivå inom Enterprise Application Integration som företagen hade integrerat systemen, dels vilka integrationstekniker företagen använder för att integrera systemen samt dels vilka effekter integrationen medfört för företagen. För att besvara problemställningen utfördes telefonintervjuer med fyra företag. Resultatet av undersökningen var att samtliga företag hade integrerat på Enterprise Application Integrations datanivå, vilket även var den nivå de hade börjat med att integrera. De integrationstekniker som användes varierade. Det var dock inte särskilt vanligt att använda nyare integrationstekniker. Integrationen medförde genomgående positiva effekter för företagen, även om vissa problem kvarstod. Inga större nya problem uppkom dock.

AbstractIn many industries, traditional automation systems (operating technology) such as PLCs are being replaced with modern, networked ICT-based systems as part of a drive towards the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). The intention behind this is to use more cost-effective, open platforms that also integrate better with an organisation’s information technology (IT) systems. In order to deal with heterogeneity in these systems, middleware platforms such as EdgeX Foundry, IoTivity, FI-WARE for Internet of Things (IoT) systems are under development that provide integration and try to overcome interoperability issues between devices of different standards. In this paper, we consider the EdgeX Foundry IIoT middleware platform as a transformation engine between field devices and enterprise applications. We also consider security as a critical element in this and discuss how to prevent or mitigate the possibility of several security risks. Here we address secure data access control by introducing a declarative policy layer implementable using Ciphertext-Policy Attribute-Based Encryption (CP-ABE). Finally, we tackle the interoperability challenge at the application layer by connecting EdgeX with DIME, a model-driven/low-code application development platform that provides methods and techniques for systematic integration based on layered Domain-Specific Languages (DSL). Here, EdgeX services are accessed through a Native DSL, and the application logic is designed in the DIME Language DSL, lifting middleware development/configuration to a DSL abstraction level. Through the use of DSLs, this approach covers the integration space domain by domain, technology by technology, and is thus highly generalizable and reusable. We validate our approach with an example IIoT use case in smart manufacturing.

Abstract Modeling of automated manufacturing systems under conditions approaching reality by means of Virtual Reality technology is part of the Virtual Model Enterprise Project. It encompasses especially the integration of real information technology (IT) like CAD/CAM, PPS, or manufacturing control systems in the virtual environment, alongside the structural and functional reproduction of manufacturing systems. The integration of real IT-applications in a virtual environment requires the realization of a data interface between VR-software and the IT-applications as well as the development of a suitable user interface to control the Application from within a Virtual Environment. This contribution shows, in the case of the integration of a manufacturing control system in the existing production area of the Virtual Model Enterprise, how the previously described problems could be solved. Through the integration of the production management system, it is possible to apply the functionality of the manufacturing control to the virtual production and transport systems. This functionality encompasses the detailed planning of the tasks as well as the control and supervision of the virtual systems. The user is able to directly follow the process of the production tasks through the immediate visualization of the work process.

It is challengeable to utilize and integrate RFID data into current Enterprise Information Systems because high volume of RFID data is captured at high speed and the data are in heterogeneous formats. In this paper, we propose a “store and forward” and subscription-based integration approach in WinRFID Data Collector to solve the challenges. The Data Collector is a middleware which processes and delivers data to end application based on rules defined in subscription conditions. “Event Cycle” based data reporting defined in EPCglobal Application Level Event specification is analyzed. WinRFID subscription is proposed to provide real-time event notification. The data processing and integration capability of the Data Collector is measured and analyzed.

Abstract From an information system development perspective, logical data modeling techniques have traditionally served in two roles. The first role is as a method of describing the information requirements of an application system. The second role is as a mechanism for integrating the requirements from a number of applications into a single logical and consistent schema so that data can be shared by multiple applications. The Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data (STEP) project is developing an international standard1 which uses data modeling as the basis for a multi-national and multi-enterprise integration effort. STEP is designed to provide a complete, unambiguous, computer-readable definition of the characteristics of a product throughout its life cycle. STEP product definition specifications are implementation independent, though implementation interface techniques provide the communication mechanisms for applications using file exchanges2 or shared databases. Because of the diversity of applications that are within the scope of STEP, the integration generally causes extensive changes but the changes are justified if all of the information requirements are supported.

Supply chain management integrates key business processes and facilities, involving end users and suppliers that provide products, services, and information. Supply chain integration can potentially add value to the stakeholders along product development and manufacturing life cycle as well as the customers in terms of cost, time, service level, quality, and risk. In the manufacturing industry, there are many attempts to develop methodologies, standards, and technologies to integrate various applications for product design and manufacturing. However, studies on integrating and aligning product design and manufacturing with other operations in supply chains are relatively lacking. In an integrated supply chain, information, applications, and services are shared and become available among supply chain members within and across organizational boundaries. Existing technologies and tools such as Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) infrastructures and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems do not provide a flexible and reusable solution to information sharing and application integration. This paper presents a prototype service oriented web-based system, SC Collaborator (Supply Chain Collaborator), which leverages web services, web portal, and open source technologies to provide a flexible, customizable, and economical tool for supply chain integration. The prototype system implements a service oriented portal-based framework and allows service orchestration according to processes. This paper presents the service oriented portal-based framework, the system architecture of SC Collaborator, and the schematic representation and implementation of process models with the system. The paper also illustrates the use of the SC Collaborator system to facilitate cross-functional, cross-departmental, and cross-organizational collaborations using a bus manufacturing scenario.

In recent decades technological innovation has induced very significant change on the way that Manufacturing Enterprises (MEs) operate and compete. In general MEs are very complex entities: designed, managed and changed by people, by deploying people and technological resources in systematic, timely and innovative ways that generate competitive behaviors. Prerequisites to respond such change and deal with complexity are firm understandings of; the processes that are the focus of improvement, and effects of change decisions. However, implementing change and dealing with associated effects can prove difficult when such an understanding is not intrinsic i.e. domains lacking structure and documentation. This paper introduces a new approach to support enterprise decision making using Computer Integrated Manufacturing Open Systems Architecture (CIMOSA) modeling principles and constructs and enhanced stencils created in MS Visio® and MS Visual Basic®. Current approaches offer little benefit above and beyond paper based solutions and merely serve to provide a visual representation of processes. Such models require that the end user have an understanding of the modeling methodology deployed in creating the diagrams, leaving models prone to misinterpretation. From a model developers perspective, current approaches do not provide support for the capture of modeling decisions or background information, implying that robust understandings can not be had by those not directly involved with the modeling efforts. The added functionality exhibited by the newly developed approach offers great extensions over those currently in use, in terms of; efficient model development, increased data and application integration, and enhanced end user interactivity.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems offer a software-based system that handles an enterprise’s total information system needs in an integrated fashion. Such systems have seen a significant growth in the last decade in the US, Europe and Australian markets and, more recently, increasing growth in Asian countries. This increase in demand for ERP systems in Asia offers opportunities for the provision of high-quality ERP education programs in the region. This paper describes the issues and barriers associated with integrating ERP systems into university curricula. It outlines the experiences of Victoria University in offering ERP education through a strategic alliance with SAP. The University is extending its offshore programs by offering ERP education in the region to take advantage of the current increase in demand in ERP applications. To assist with the delivery of offshore ERP education an ERP e-Learning model has been developed that integrates synchronous and asynchronous content. Asynchronous e-learning does not involve the presence of a teacher. Typically the learning content is located on a web server that students can access using the Internet. Synchronous e-learning requires the learner and teacher to be present in the event at the same time. It is a real-time, instructor-led online learning event in which all participants are available at the same time and can communicate directly with each other. The model uses four technologies to facilitate teaching: application service provision (ASP), web-CT, computer-based training and virtual classroom technology. The ERP e-learning model provides an innovative and efficient means to deliver ERP curriculum. It is able to provide greater flexibility in offshore subject delivery and to maximise student learning outcomes. This is particularly relevant in light of recent international medical (SARS) and terrorists incidents.

The evolution of Enterprise Services is changing the approach for enabling Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Supply Chain Management (SCM). Enabling systems are migrating to process- and service-oriented solutions, requiring new approaches for architecting composite applications. This paper uses examples from our work to present the state-of-the art in architecting end-to-end solutions for delivering PLM and SCM capabilities from an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to the customer. The paper also demonstrates how emerging methodologies, methods, and tools are used to support the implementation of composite applications, as well as the limitations of working in a mixed legacy/modern environment during the lengthy transition period to the new service-oriented computing paradigm. The hypothesis of this paper is that design and supply chain integration is achievable through composite application design, development, and deployment. This paper discusses the design, development, and deployment of a composite application to address the product improvement process for military vehicles, and it lays the foundation for testing the hypothesis. Based on these initial analyses we conclude that the composite approach to PLM is not only feasible, but may provide the only practical solution (given current technologies) to a very complex supply chain information sharing problem.

Conversational interaction is crucial to the development of e-commerce. In order to meet the needs of users, more and more enterprises begin to build chatbots based on conversational interaction. Conversational chatbots are becoming more and more popular, gradually becoming the preferred way for users to communicate with enterprises. Chatbots can provide users with personalized experience and high-quality services. However, there is no complete and systematic design principle to guide the design of its new conversational interface interaction. Many designers have borrowed the methods of social chat software for their design, which is lack of pertinence and difficult to ensure the rationality of interaction. The academic research on the shopping behavior of chatbots is relatively few. Even the Taobao APP, which is frequently used at present, has not formed a good user experience in the design of conversational interaction. How to improve the experience of conversational interaction is an urgent research topic. From the perspective of user experience, the behavior mode, information expression and thinking mode displayed by conversational chatbots should conform to the thinking and behavior characteristics of users. The design of conversational interaction should pay special attention to user experience in addition to technical competition. The social shortcomings of e-commerce sites are a major obstacle to the growth of companies' online businesses, and there is a lot of distrust among users of such technologies. With the disappearance of the structure and formality of the session, the difficulty of maintaining a good user experience increases and the system loses control of the human-computer interaction experience. In most studies, the focus is on the usability of conversational interactions and the ability to identify user queries.This paper mainly discusses the application of context awareness theory in conversational interaction of shopping APP, proposes a conversational interaction design process of shopping APP based on context awareness model and KANO-AHP model, and explores and summarizes the user experience-oriented conversational interaction design strategy of shopping APP by obtaining user needs qualitatively and quantitatively. On the basis of the context awareness theory, the user's experience demand set of four dimensions of conversational interaction vision, interaction, function and emotion of shopping APP is obtained based on the context awareness model from three aspects of user context factors, product context factors and environmental context factors. The KANO model is used to screen and classify the obtained demand set. The hierarchical structure of conversational interactive user needs of shopping APP is obtained. Then combined with the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to calculate the weight of each demand and order the importance, finally put forward the design strategy. Based on the situation perception theory and KANO-AHP model to analyze user needs, the design strategies and suggestions of conversational interactive experience of shopping APP are proposed from four aspects of user visual interface experience, functional experience, interactive experience and emotional experience. In particular, some strategies such as personality characteristics, high-context conversation mechanism and the same emotional feedback mechanism are proposed to improve the user experience and satisfaction of conversational interaction of shopping APP. However, this paper only conducts in-depth research on the user side of conversational interaction of shopping APP, and obtains various experience design principles based on users. However, in the process of shopping, it is usually the transaction between merchants and users, and the subsequent research should be carried out in combination with the experience needs of merchants, so as to balance users and merchants in terms of experience.
