RésuméLa fin du XIXesiècle marque moins l’apparition d’une gestion étatique de la migration que son changement de régime. La « protection du travail national » par le développement de l’identification et des barrières aux frontières vient se substituer à une régulationex postfondée sur l’utilitarisme et la subsidiarité (sauf à bénéficier d’une protection sociale communale, les étrangers tombant dans l’indigence étaient menacés d’expulsion). À l’avènement de cette xénophobie institutionnelle, les réformateurs sociaux, bientôt relayés par le Bureau international du Travail, opposent la signature de traités bilatéraux et de conventions internationales rapprochant les droits sociaux des migrants – chômage, retraite, contrat de travail, etc. – de ceux des nationaux. Tout en ayant permis le développement des assurances sociales et de l’État-providence, ces engagements transnationaux interrogent l’exercice de la souveraineté étatique, selon des modalités perpétuées de nos jours par le recours au traité de Gotha de 1851 pour administrer les flux de réfugiés.

Pour s’acquitter de ses engagements constitutionnels contractés à la suite de différents jugements de la Cour suprême ainsi que d’ententes territoriales signées avec certaines nations autochtones, l’État canadien doit désormais consulter les Autochtones lors de la création d’aires protégées qui concernent leurs territoires. Il a aussi l’obligation de les inclure dans les structures de gouvernance qui sont mises en place. Cet article propose, à travers une analyse des plans directeurs des parcs nationaux du Canada situés dans le circumpolaire, d’analyser comment Parcs Canada s’acquitte de cette obligation. Il cherche aussi à déterminer la place que les Autochtones occupent effectivement dans la gouvernance des aires protégées et pour quelles raisons ceux-ci veulent s’y impliquer.

Les documents touchant à ce sujet sont si peu nombreux qu'on a même pu douter du service militaire de Bernardin pour la France pendant cette guerre (1756–63). La nouvelle édition électronique de la correspondance de Bernardin jette quelques lumières sur cette question. Le lecteur moderne admirateur de notre auteur s’étonnera quelque peu de découvrir que, après avoir quitté le service de la France en Westphalie et à Malte (1760–61) comme officier ingénieur géographe, il semble chercher à servir des pays ennemis de la France (le Portugal et la Prusse). L'examen de cette possibilité pose des questions sur la notion de patriotisme dans le contexte d'un conflit entre armées professionnelles et bien avant les engagements nationaux de la période révolutionnaire. Bernardin, perpétuel surnuméraire et outsider, doit exploiter les divers réseaux sociaux et politiques auxquels il se trouve confronté dans la France et l'Europe de son temps.

SommaireBien que la pollution marine d'origine tellurique soit de loin la plus importante source de pollution marine, ce problème n'occupe pas une place dominante dans la réglementation internationale en matière d'environnement. Cet article examine les tentatives de réglementation de la pollution d'origine tellurique et fait des propositions pour son élaboration future. Il soutient principalement que la réglementation de la pollution d'origine tellurique a un impact direct d'une telle importance sur les objectifs économiques nationaux qu'il nous faut concevoir une nouvelle forme d'intégration du droit international de l'environnement et du développement économique international, si l'on veut réussir à contrôler cette forme de pollution. La Conférence des Nations Unies sur l'environnement et le développement ayant lieu bientôt, le temps est propice à l'action innovatrice.L'article étudie en premier lieu le droit coutumier applicable, puis il examine les conventions internationales en fonction du niveau de contrainte de leurs dispositions: engagements non contraignants; obligations générales; obligations particulières précises; engagements institutionnels concrets envers l'adoption de mesures. Il discute également d'une série de conventions régionales adoptées dans le cadre et en dehors du Programme des mers régionales du Programme des Nations Unies pour l'environnement, dont les principes directeurs sur la pollution d'origine tellurique élaborés à Montréal en 1985. Il analyse ensuite ces instruments et discute des éléments suivants: la définition de la pollution; le caractère des obligations fondamentales; la gamme d'obligations relatives à l'application des mesures (y compris la surveillance, les stratégies de contrôle, la gestion intégrée, l'exécution et la responsabilité); l'assistance financière et les arrangements institutionnels. Les failles de la réglementation sont analysées à la lumière de l'ampleur croissante du conflit entre les intérêts économiques et la protection de l'environnement.En conclusion, il recommande des changements et souligne l'intérêt grandissant pour ce domaine, particulièrement dans le contexte de la Conférence des Nations Unies sur l'environnement et de développement qui aura lieu au Brésil en 1992. Enfin, il propose une nouvelle approche “préventive” pour la réglementation en matière d'environnement et étudie les moyens de concilier protection de l'environnement et développement lors de l'élaboration des instruments juridiques futurs.

L’objectif de cet article est d’analyser les facteurs influençant l’effectivité d’un accord-cadre international (ACI). L’effectivité est analysée à l’aune de la mise en conformité des pratiques locales de gestion du travail avec les engagements pris dans l’ACI. Considérant la négociation comme un processus, composé de trois phases (avant-négociation, négociation stricto sensu, après-négociation) et ancré dans un contexte, nous élaborons un modèle d’analyse inspiré des études de processus stratégiques (process studies). Ce modèle met en lumière l’influence des positionnements, des comportements et des interactions des protagonistes de la négociation et de l’application d’un ACI sur son effectivité. Nous détaillons les processus de négociation de quatre ACI, conclus au cours des années 2010, par deux firmes multinationales (FMN) françaises et deux fédérations syndicales internationales (FSI). Ces ACI portent sur des thématiques de gestion du travail (santé et sécurité au travail, égalité femmes-hommes, emploi durable). Cette recherche repose sur une analyse de documents, d’observations et de 38 entretiens, menés auprès de syndicalistes internationaux, européens, nationaux, locaux et de membres des directions générales (DG) de ces FMN. Elle porte une attention particulière à la phase de l’avant-négociation et met en exergue les interactions entre les acteurs managériaux et syndicaux, tout au long du processus de négociation. Nous montrons que le positionnement de la DG de la FMN (« social » ou « managérial ») est un facteur décisif du déroulement de la négociation d’un ACI, de son résultat (accord « substantif ») et de son effectivité. Le positionnement « qualitatif » de la FSI peut être un élément essentiel du déroulement de la négociation (par le choix de la thématique de l’ACI) et de son résultat (dispositions portant sur des sujets sensibles). Enfin, la mobilisation des syndicats locaux, soutenue par la FSI, est essentielle à l’effectivité d’un ACI. Nous révélons des processus d’apprentissage et des particularités des ACI et de la NCI.

Tax consulting services are an important growth area for professional accounting firms. However, regulatory and governmental bodies are concerned that consulting service sales may impair professional accountants' judgment. Using source credibility theory, this study examines whether research and review processes in taxconsulting engagements differ when two key factors are varied: source of the planning idea and engagement type. Big 4 seniors and managers reviewed a tax memorandum in which information source (prepared by National Tax Office or local staff member) and engagement type (initiated by a client or by the firm) are manipulated in a 2×2 design. Engagement managers performed the most thorough reviews when involved in a firm-initiated consulting engagement relying upon a National Tax Office memorandum. Thus, the results of this study are inconsistent with the presumption that objectivity is impaired in highly incentivized consulting engagements.

Abstract The United Kingdom’s decision to leave the European Union has triggered a variety of forms of political engagement among EU nationals living in the UK. Our research, carried out in the North West of England, an area that has received little attention so far, demonstrates that the result of the 2016 Referendum sparked a new awareness of public discourse, has led to the emergence of new political and discursive attitudes and strategies, as well as persuasive reflexivity and incipient activism on the part of EU nationals. This article thus contributes to the existing literature on political engagement by analysing EU nationals’ cognitive, discursive and pro/re-active engagements with Brexit.

Background Recent evidence suggests that 59%-73% of Black women are not reaching recommended targets for physical activity (PA). PA is a key modifiable lifestyle factor that can help mitigate risk for chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension, which disproportionately affect Black women. Web-based communities focused on PA have been emerging in recent years as digital gathering spaces to provide support for PA in specific populations. Objective The purpose of this study was to conduct a content analysis of the Black Girls Run (BGR) Facebook page, which is devoted to promoting PA in Black women and has over 230,000 followers. Such data can inform future social media–based interventions. Methods We collected 397 posts and associated engagement data from the national BGR Facebook page for the 6-month period between June 1 and December 31, 2021. We then conducted a content analysis of these posts and examined which types of posts elicited the most engagement. Results The content analysis revealed 8 categories of posts: shout-outs (30.7%), goals or motivational posts (16.3%), announcements (15.9%), sponsored posts or advertisements (13.6%), health-related posts (11.0%), the lived Black experience posts (5.79%), self-care posts (3.78%), and holiday-related posts or greetings (2.02%). These 397 posts attracted a total of 55,573 engagements. Of these, 33,560 were “reactions” (eg, likes) and 5082 were shares. Shout-outs elicited the highest engagement (22,268 engagements), followed by goals or motivational posts (11,490 engagements). Conclusions The majority of content on the BGR Facebook page (62.9%) was focused on celebrating member achievements, motivating members to become active, and announcing and promoting active events. This content also attracted 75% of the engagement on this page. BGR appears to be a rich web-based community that offers social support for PA as well as culturally relevant health and social justice content. Web-based communities may be uniquely positioned to engage minoritized populations in health behavior. Further research should explore how to best leverage web-based communities in interventions to increase PA and other lifestyle behaviors. Conflicts of Interest None declared.

The problem of modern audit development is the trend of using classical approaches to the classification of audit in determining the areas of improvement of organizational and methodological foundations of the engagements in which the subject matter are various objects. Determining the key principles of development of the organization and methods of performing audit services requires an in-depth analysis of the historical development of the audit, determining its further development, taking into account historical landmarks. The aim of the study is to systematize current trends in audit development and assurance engagements, to investigate trends in regulation of assurance engagements as a whole and assurance engagements other than audit or review of historical financial information, to justify the development of national practice of standardization of their implementation. Trends in the development of auditing in the historical context are systematized in accordance with the processes of using the term "assurance engagement". The historical stages of introducing the concept of "assurance engagement" into audit practice are revealed. The trends in the formation of assurance engagements other than audit or review of historical financial information, in International Standards of Quality Control, Auditing, Other Assurance, Related Services are specified. A comparative analysis of the structure of the International Conceptual Framework of Assurance Engagements is presented. A comparative description of the content of International Standards of Assurance Engagements regarding the requirements for the organization and methodology of their fulfilling is proposed. The differences in the development of International Standards of Assurance Engagements from the International Standards on Auditing are specified, the directions and targets for the development of the national system of regulation and standardization of assurance engagements other than audit or review of historical financial information are substantiated.

Depuis la deuxième moitié du XXème siècle, l’augmentation de la concentration des trois principaux gaz à effet de serre (GES) : le Dioxyde de Carbone (CO2), le Méthane (CH4) et le Protoxyde d’Azote (N2O) du fait des activités humaines a clairement été identifiée par la communauté scientifique comme la principale cause du récent forçage radiatif affectant l’équilibre des processus énergétiques du système terrestre. Ces perturbations anthropiques ont entre autres conséquences, une augmentation de la température annuelle moyenne globale à la surface de la Terre. Étant donné que les GES sont bien mélangés dans l’atmosphère, et du fait de la complexité des différents processus du transport atmosphérique, les conséquences du forçage radiatif anthropique induit par les principales zones émettrices de GES ne se produisent pas nécessairement directement sur ces territoires. Ainsi, l’Afrique est le continent qui est historiquement le moins responsable des émissions cumulées de GES. Pourtant, le dernier rapport du GIEC (AR6) a mis en évidence que cette région est l’une des zones qui est déjà les plus touchées au monde par les conséquences du changement climatique d’origine anthropique. Des articles pionniers sur les émissions anthropiques et le budget carbone de l’Afrique comme celui de Ciais et al. (2011) avaient aussi souligné que « l’Afrique augmentera probablement sa part d’émissions globales au cours des décennies à venir » (Canadell, 2009). Or ce continent est relativement peu étudié. C’est pourquoi, nous avons choisi de focaliser l’étude au centre de ce manuscrit sur le périmètre Africain, composé de 54 pays pour lesquels nous disposons de données. Notre objectif est d’effectuer une estimation des sources et des puits d’origine anthropique sur ce continent pour les trois principaux GES. Dans ce but, la méthodologie originale utilisée ici s’appuie d’une part, sur des données dites « montantes », c’est-à-dire des rapports nationaux officiels de pays, des inventaires statistiques et des modèles basés sur des processus chimiques et biogéochimiques. D’autre part, le deuxième volet de la méthode consiste en une comparaison de ces données « montantes », avec des inversions de la méthode dite « descendante », c’est-à-dire des données satellite. Nous conduisons cette analyse pour les trois dernières décennies (1990-2018) en vue de dégager des tendances. Le but de cette étude est aussi d’apporter des éléments de réponse à la problématique suivante : comment l’état actuel des outils scientifiques peut contribuer à évaluer le respect des engagements de l’Accord de Paris pour des pays ne faisant pas partie de l’Annexe I, et en particulier dans le cas des pays Africains ? Pour apporter des éléments de réponse à cette question importante du point de vue scientifique mais aussi sociétal, le chapitre 1 présente les principales caractéristiques du CO2, du CH4 et du N2O en ce qui concerne le forçage du budget radiatif de la planète Terre. Ce premier chapitre contextualise le monitoring des sources et des puits de GES d’origine anthropique dans le cadre du dispositif de Monitoring, Reporting et de Vérification de l’Accord de Paris. Le chapitre 2 est une analyse originale des tendances pour les sources et pour les puits de GES au cours des trente dernières années, centrée sur le cas Africain. Le chapitre 3 est une discussion élargie proposant des perspectives plus globales sur le rôle des outils scientifiques pour une évaluation indépendante des pays du respect des engagements de l’Accord de Paris
Since the second part of the 20th century, the role of three main greenhouse gases (GHG) : Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4) and Nitrous Oxide (N2O) has been clearly established by the scientific community as the main cause of the recent forcing of the Earth energetic processes from human-induced activities, resulting among other disturbances in an increase of the annual mean surface temperatures. As GHG are well-mixed in the atmosphere and due to the complexity of atmospheric transport processes, the main emitters do not necessarily face the consequences of the additional radiative forcing that they directly induce. In this study, we restrict the analysis to CO2, CH4 and N2O because they are the most important GHG in the atmosphere. For the following-up of GHG, the Paris Agreement has a device named the “Enhanced Transparency Framework “(ETF). Within the ETF, countries have to report annually or biannually their GHG emissions and removals starting in 2023 within the Global Stocktake (GST). The ETF is based on the Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) provisions of the PA, aiming at the measurement of GHG for the PA signatory countries, at the centralization of the regularly updated country-reports, and at the verification of the respect of the countries ex ante vs. ex post pledges. This GST will represent a challenge for many Non-Annex I countries, including Africa, where emissions and removals in national inventories have been irregular since the UNFCCC creation in 1992. The literature tends to be scarce about GHG emissions from African countries, usually thought to be small emitters by non-experts. However, the recent Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) underlines with high confidence that the speed of surface temperature increase in Africa has already been higher than elsewhere in the world due to anthropogenic emissions (IPCC Working Group I, 2021). Recent analyses also predict a fast increase of African emissions correlated with its demographic growth, which is the fastest in the world. Pioneering papers on anthropogenic emissions and the carbon balance in Africa like the one of Ciais et al. (2011), already underlined that “Africa is likely to increase its share of global emissions over the coming decades” (Canadell, 2009). That is the reason why we chose to strictly restrict to Africa the scope of our central analysis in the original study of the present manuscript. Our aim is to assess African CO2, CH4 and N2O anthropogenic emissions and removals using bottom-up datasets (inventories and process-based models) and to compare them with top-down inversions coming from satellites over three decades (1990-2018) in order to deliver trends’ analyses. The purpose of this analysis is also to discuss the following main question: how can the current state of science help for the evaluation of the Respect of the Paris Agreement (PA) in Non-Annex I countries, and most specifically in Africa? Chapter 1 presents CO2, CH4 and N2O main features and impacts with regards to the Earth Radiative Budget forcing, and contextualizes the scientific monitoring of GHG emissions and removals from anthropogenic origins in the climate policy context of the Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) provisions of the PA. Chapter 2 delivers an original analysis of GHG emissions and removals trends over the last three decades for the case of Africa. Chapter 3 discusses more broadly the conclusions of the African case analysis and proposes larger perspectives from both a scientific and from a climate policy view for future developments in the evaluation of the respect of the PA

This thesis examines the ways in which Tanzania’s media report news on development issues and what accounts for the way they report, guided by social constructionist philosophy and framing theory. In terms of how they report news, the thesis draws on primary data generated from: (1) an analysis of 10,371 news stories reported by 15 Tanzanian media outlets over the course of one month, noting the general types of preferred stories and the range of news sources relied upon (which tend to be government or elite sources and male); (2) an in-depth analysis of 36 newspapers’ front-page lead stories, looking not just at the presentation and framing of these stories, but also at the omissions and elisions, using interpretive content analysis. In order to explore why the Tanzanian media cover development issues the way they do, the thesis draws on another set of primary data: semi-structured, face-to-face interviews conducted with 76 media stakeholders, where editors, journalists and media owners reflect on the constraints and opportunities – media ownership, laws used to control media autonomy, financing and professional training – facing them as media professionals trying to report on topics linked to their country’s social, economic and political challenges. There is, to date, little literature that foregrounds the views and experiences of media professionals in Tanzania or, indeed, in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and it is to this literature that this thesis primarily contributes. It concludes that from the colonial period to the current day Tanzanian media has been a contested space in which different stakeholders have diverse views about the role and functioning of the media. If the media are to play a normative, watchdog role, holding government to account and thus contributing, indirectly, to national development, then the issues of ownership, legal constraints, training and financial capacity are key.

This thesis is a study of the cultural production of Exmoor National Park. It proceeds through analysis of both historical representations of the space called ‘National Park’ and contemporary social processes in which National Park users engage with the landscape. This project draws on a cross-disciplinary range of literature, from local histories of Exmoor, to tourism studies, critical human geography and cultural theory. Empirical material includes primary texts, transcripts from discussion groups and ethnographic experiences. The research unpacks the reproduction of the space called ‘Exmoor National Park’. It traces the composition of this space in historical and contemporary texts, charting the authorised visions of National Parks in metanarratives and official discourses. Through close reading and textual analysis, assumptions and prevailing wisdoms about the territory ‘Exmoor National Park’ are unsettled. The way that National Parks were represented as a space, or territory, is explored in three ways. First, by considering the boundary which defined the space ‘National Park’, second, by exploring the conceptualisation of National Park land and landscape, and third, by examining governance of engagements between National Park users and the terrain. Analysis highlights multiplicity and political striation in the idea of a territory called ‘National Park’. The thesis develops by exploring contemporary National Park users’ narratives of their engagement with Exmoor. . Findings from discussion groups and ethnographic experiences are used to advance an understanding of the ways users organise their enjoyment of Exmoor. These comprise three modes of engagement with the national landscape: processes of connecting, encountering conflict and working. As an ESRC CASE commissioned project, the findings of this research have been applied through the production of a toolkit called From Special Qualities to Special Experiences (ENPA, 2015), in collaboration with Exmoor National Park Authority. This title articulates the shift from a concern with features of the National Park as a territory, towards the social processes in which Exmoor is experienced.

The objective of this research was to determine whether there is a relationship between the level of maturity of an organization's business processes as measured by the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award's Criteria for Performance Excellence (BCPE) and the level of employee engagement. Two organizations were selected for the study based on their overall level of maturity measured by the BCPE scoring guide representing firms with high and low levels of maturity. The first hypothesis tested indicates a negative statistically significant relationship between the level of maturity of an organization and the level of employee engagement. Next, the level of employee engagement between males and females was significantly different as the level for men was higher than the level for women participating in the study. Finally, no support was found for the third hypothesis exploring differences in the levels of employee engagement between military and civilian employees. This study was limited to predominantly full-time personnel assigned to two of twenty-eight state Army National Guard (ARNG) organizations that participated in the ARNG Army Communities of Excellence (ACOE) award process during the award years of 2009-2010. The absence of support for the BCPE's effect on the level of employee engagement within organizations could be an indicator of other factors affecting employee engagement that are needed to be researched further before any conclusions can be reached.

Informed by Astin's Input-Environment-Outcome (I-E-O) model and Pascarella's general model, this study explored the nature of student-athletes' engagement in educationally purposeful activities, described their engagement patterns, and revealed the relationships between student engagement factors and college outcomes by class and gender for 2596 student-athletes from 30 Division-I institutions. This research demonstrated that the NSEE Five Benchmarks constructed for the general population did not fit student-athletes. Therefore, engagement factors for student-athletes were constructed based on a subset of component items from the Five Benchmarks. Hierarchical Linear Models (HLM) were then applied to National Survey for Student Engagement (NSSE) 2006 and the aggregated school level data from the NCAA. The research results reveal that the association patterns between engagement factors and college outcome variables Satisfaction (SA), General Education and Personal Competence (GEPC), and Personal and Social Development (PSD) across all class and gender subgroups are very similar, but differ from those for GPA. This research concludes that engagement in educationally purposeful activities is the best predictor for student-athletes' college outcomes (except GPA). The analyses also reveal that what students do on campus contributes more to their college outcomes than who they were at matriculation and which school they attend. In particular, for all outcomes, the fraction of the total variance due to between-school differences was very small and the relationships between the coefficients of school-level equations and school-level characteristics were inconsistent. The results of this study, along with other related studies, can help colleges devise strategies to better fulfill their primary obligation to create genuine educational opportunities for their student-athletes through fostering their holistic development

Resumen
At Hillcrest Community College (HCC; pseudonym) most developmental education (DE) students do not progress in their studies from DE to college-credit-bearing courses required to matriculate toward earning a credential. Student engagement is important for student success, but HCC had never completed a study of student engagement among its DE students. The purpose of this quantitative goal-based evaluation was to compare HCC DE student engagement with the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) national norms to determine if engagement contributed to the problem. Kuh's theory of student engagement was the theoretical basis of the study, and the overarching research question sought to clarify the extent to which HCC students were engaged. Institutional data archived from the 2016 CCSSE administered to HCC students (N = 169) and national data calculated by CCSSE (N = 211,168) were used for analysis using a one-sample t test. The primary research question was evaluated via 5 secondary questions associated with 5 CCSSE benchmarks. Secondary research questions were evaluated by testing 38 hypotheses for indicators associated with benchmarks. Null hypotheses were retained for 33 of 38 indicators using Cohen's d + .50 a priori criterion established for magnitude of effect size. Study results indicated that HCC DE students are mostly similar to DE students nationally in terms of engagement except for their use of computer labs. Evaluation report recommendations included maintaining existing engagement programs for DE students at HCC with attention to increasing DE student use of computer labs, and continuing to monitor engagement as future CCSSE data becomes available. HCC can benefit from an awareness that its DE students are engaged and can seek other ways to improve DE student outcomes and related benefits for positive social change at HCC.

Resumen
The incidents of radioactive material smuggling in 2020 proved that the nuclear security threat in Indonesia is real. It also shows that Indonesian police and security officers’ knowledge of nuclear security needs to improve continuously. In response, Universitas Gadjah Mada’s Nuclear Engineering Program composed a three-day training program to empower the role of local police, National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS), and National Counter Terrorism Agency (BNPT), whose duty are to handle nuclear-related security. The objective of the training was to refresh their capabilities in dealing with nuclear security issues after the absence of training since the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020-2021. The subjects were divided into ten sessions and were delivered through coursework and discussion, tabletop exercises, and laboratory exercises. The pre-tests and post-tests were conducted to assess the trainee’s improvement of knowledge and the benefits they experienced. The pre-test and post-test results showed that after attending the training, all participants understanding increased sharply as the delivery method was interesting and the materials were useful for participants. Finally, practice or playing games became the most preferred delivery method. Therefore, we can conclude that this training became an effective way to empower nuclear security-related officers.

Purpose – One of the main aims of this research is to highlight those elements that favour certain geosites within the Kučaj-Beljanica Mountains National Park as particularly valuable and attractive phenomena of the overall geodiversity of this part of Eastern Serbia. Since geoheritage protects only authentic geosites, they must be adequately protected and rationally used. Such nature values should be appropriately promoted towards sustainable tourism and geotourism, which is one of the reasons for this research. Methodology – This paper presents a review of representative geosites within the Kučaj-Beljanica National Park in the Homolje area. Interpretation of geosites is based on scientific, aesthetic, touristic and other values that make them authentic and specific concerning others. These criteria of values are based on Vujičić et. al (2011) geosite assessment model (GAM). ArcGIS software was used as a basic method tool to present the research area. Findings – Geotourism aims to develop and spread public awareness of geosites that has scientific and cultural values and will be discussed possible solutions for developing this part of tourism. It will be analyzed what are the main issues of not recognizing the natural worth and how should they be better preserved and adequately used in the future. Contribution – The main task and contribution of this study are to indicate what can be done to adequately develop sustainable tourism on the natural phenomenon. In that way, this study will have an impact on public education and consciousness about the vulnerability and multiple significance of geoheritage as an essential component of the environment.

Resumen
Menoreh mountainous region, especially the Samigaluh district, has been long known as a coffee producer in Yogyakarta Special Region. The coffee trees were planted with other kinds of trees, known locally as “Kebun Campur”. The advantages of “Kebun Campur” in those regions were its capability to provide food resilience and sustainability. Meanwhile, “Kebun Campur” usually has low productivity due to poor maintenance and tight competition with other plants in a small area. We introduced high-yield and aroma coffee clones from National Coffee and Cocoa Research Center (Puslitkoka), supervising the local farmer in making good coffee-tree framing to support good harvest and easy picking of coffee beans. To support environmentally good farming practices, we also introduce how to produce Liquid Organic Fertilizers based on local resources. In the Off-farm aspects, we are introducing knowledge on how to process fresh coffee beans and how to operate a mini gas-powered roasting machine so that the farmer could get more value-added on their coffee beans.

Civics education continues to gain national importance, especially in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election and with recent debates about the teaching of history and critical race theory in schools. At the same time, Americans’ civics knowledge seems to be in a state of decline, with the first recorded drop in U.S. adults being able to name all three branches of government since 2016. Despite the increasing interest in strengthening civics education, states continue to differ in their interpretation of what constitutes relevant and high-quality civic engagement among students. As of 2018, 42 states required students to take a course in civics and government, with 8 of those states requiring a full year of civics and 19 states requiring a civics exam to graduate, often resembling the U.S. citizenship test. Two states, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania, allow local education agencies to develop locally determined assessments of students’ civics knowledge or else require that students take the U.S. citizenship test. A growing number of states are encouraging civic learning and acknowledging that students can be active participants in civic life. This report describes how 10 states are implementing policies that increasingly support a new approach to civics education that engages students in inquiry, civic reasoning, and civic action.

Resumen
The Nordic countries have continuously ranked at the top of international assessments with regards to SDG implementation. This does not mean, however, that sustainable development in the Nordic Region has been fully achieved. Each country continues to face numerous challenges, including unsustainable consumption and production patterns, the effects of a changing climate, as well as rebalancing our societies after multiple crises marked by the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing recovery, energy supply shortages in Europe and the war in Ukraine. This report describes central policy decisions, actors and national structures in ongoing SDG work, and highlights inspiring examples of national networks and societal participation. Where information about more recent action has not been available, other supplementary aspects have been added, hence overlaps in the national chapters occur.
